Eds is it true Pako is returning as no.2 and Inglethorpe replaces Marsh?
If correct is this positive?
With Pakos sucess in Israel as a manager, is this him being positioned as near future replacement?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I don't know.}

06 Jun 2015 23:13:23
Welcome back Pako if it's true.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

06 Jun 2015 23:52:34
Hope it is true, fitness has been a major issue and Pako will get them fit. Last 2 seasons we have ran out of steam in April/May, we need to learn how to finish strongly. Shame we haven't approached Bolo Zenden too.
Who's going to take over Inglethorpe's previous role?

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Jun 2015 10:43:13
hope this is true, i get the impression Pako was more influential on team selection than Rafa let on, as performance dipped after he left

as far as i recall Pako still has his house on the Wirral, which would suggest he would welcome a return to the area.

he has proved his ability at Maccabi and his knowledge of LFC would make an awful lot of sense to recruit him. Probably a good strategy for succession planning knowing that Brendan probably will be gone by January to have Pako there to step in to the hotseat.

financially i would think LFC can still offer him more as a no2 than he was on in Israel as a manager

good move if FSG do get him

Is seems Pako Ayestaran is coming back with ingelthorpe being promoted to the first team.
I suppose ingelthorpe would push to accommodate more of the youth players in the first team setup and he has been successful with youth setup so far. i would be happy with that.
I don't know about pako though. i hope it works!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

06 Jun 2015 23:36:17
Alex will provide a good link between youth and first team, but remember two things and first is Brendan always has the to youth up at Melford training with them and secondly Brendan.still picks the team. Doesn't really matter anything else.

Agree0 Disagree3

07 Jun 2015 00:02:28
Remember that marsh was also promoted from the youth team coach, Rodgers will decide. Hopefully the owners place pressure on the squad for more youth to come through.

Can you really see Ingelthorpe being given a job as assistant to Rogers he has only had experience of working with young potential players at Tottenham and Liverpool respectfully , As for Pako this would be a fantastic appointment I believe Rafa was never the same after Pako left he lost his way and our football changed for the worse.
I think Rogers should appoint a top class second coach some one that can organise the defence because they have been all over the place with the changes to personnel week after week by rogers and by deploying coaches of this calibre we should see an improvement in our all round game which may give Rogers a chance to achieve his ambition's as a top class manager and also if he does not reach the standards expected it would show it was not his coaching staff but himself as we have all believed and pointed out on this great site .

Eds, big fan of the site, first time posting. I would love to hear your opinions on which of the talent liverpool are looking to bring in this summer, or already have at the club, excites you the most as having potential to go on and be great players.m
Cheers,
Redmo.

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid that I don't get excited by young men. No doubt most of the posts will share the names of the players that get them excited.}

Hi ed01 as a fan who's not from the city. Can I ask what the majority of fans around the city are thinking. Are a lot of fans looking for rodgers out. I know it's clear from the site that there is a massive pull against him but I always find the dissatisfied shout loudest etc and wondered of the views on here we're held by the majority. What's been the opinion at games etc have the crowd been behind him. We've seen the plane incidents at a couple of games but what was the crowd reactions to these stunts. Also depending on your answer to above will the owners be aware of the fans opinions and do they take them into account. I know it's been said on here before but rodgers had seemed to have the media behind him compared to someone like moyes who had questions marks over him at an early stage also van gal didn't get an easy ride either

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I can only go by my friends and family, all of whom, other than the Evertonians, want him out. The Evertonians love him.}

Im not from the city and have wanted Teeth out for a while. A few months ago Scousers coming into work wanted him to stay and recently wanted him to go. So that's view from me.

Agree5 Disagree1

07 Jun 2015 05:34:48
I think the general consensus on the internet at least, from what I can see, is still mixed, there are those that just can't see Rodgers failings and so are more than happy to 'give him another chance', while others firmly believe he's a charlatan and should be removed at once and then there are always the fans that just don't consider the reality of the game and so still expect massive money signings and expect glory when it just isn't a possibility. It's a mixed bag from what I gather, I don't see how the fans in the city of Liverpool would have an opinion that matters more than the rest of us though. Then again I don't know.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 09:07:04
Licky, just to pick you up on something. There are quite a few of us, like me, who can see the mistakes Rodgers has made in the last 12 months, but are willing to support him to give him chance to turn it round.
I can't go from thinking "he's done a fantastic job" (12 months ago) to "he's incompetent" in 12 months. Probably because I'm old

Agree2 Disagree3

07 Jun 2015 10:15:30
Ron you my friend have your opinion and it is a valid view and we respect your opinion but on the other hand all us who are not happy with Mr Rogers and would like him removed as our manager for are views that he has had three years here we have struggled in the first half of the season on all three ok we had a very good second season but I think it was not all down to Mr Rogers in fact I would go as far as to say it was down to our two strikers hitting top form and bagging lots of goals we lost one strikers and wasted the money on players who have not come to the fore . Also when we needed our manager to get something out of the Chelsea game he blew it then blew it against palace the next game title gone. Last season we get our self back in to the race for a champs league and he blows it against man united then arsenal and it was all down hill from then on . And finally his press conference's are so all about him and who he can blame for our loss and now he has got rid of his back room staff and not had the balls to fall on his sword how can any incoming coaches trust him so Ron that's my opinion on Mr Rogers

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Jun 2015 10:34:52
I moved out of the city a couple of years ago, but the locals I still talk to that are lfc fans have usually been more supportive of him than the people who comment on discussion forums.
Having said that, I know a couple of fans who were wavering but who finally changed their minds after the stoke game and wanted him out.
Their main worry now is more about there not being anyone better out there- who is available and willing.
Personally I think he's too set in his ways to be able to change or improve next season, and I don't see how he can change his pre-match team talks, which must be absolutely diabolical judging from the way the team come out and play.
I remember a pre match team talk scene from 'being liverpool', and he just jabbered random words at the players like:
'remember- keep it tight, movement is the key idea- and circles, and always harrassment, but also pressing- work in twos, run in threes, eat in fours, character is your enemy today, football is your reality. Remember, you must be the ball. Then be the goalpost. Then the flag.'
It just went on and on, and I remember thinking that this man did not have the faintest idea hiw to motivate a team if he thought jabbering a hundred phrases at them would do any good.
My old maths teacher could do a better team talk at 3pm on a friday afternoon.

Would everyone be content with the below as our exhaustive list of signings for summer window?

A. Bogdan. Free.
M. Montoya.
J. Milner. Free.
M. Kovacic.
Y. Konoplyanka. Free.
G. Higuain.
D. Ings. Free.

Keep Ilori, Flanagan Back end of year, Sturridge late November.

Believable23 Unbelievable12

06 Jun 2015 18:31:20
I'm not happy with Bogdan. Played 10 times for his club last year. No chance of him putting real pressure on Big Mig. I'd rather we signed a proper commanding goalkeeper that will organise the defence and replace Mignolet.

Mig will have a confidence flap every year. Those flaps could be the difference between success and failure.

Agree23 Disagree3

06 Jun 2015 19:42:25

I'd zell mignolet for patricio andvhave bogdan as backup gk

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Jun 2015 20:56:27
Bogdan is a stupid signed.

We're picking a keeper that is never going to challenge mignolet.

We may as well just have ward as backup keeper

Agree9 Disagree0

06 Jun 2015 21:18:57
Yes, that would be our best summer in years. I think mignolet will cement that number 1 spot although I would always want quality back up/ competition but GK isn't really priority anymore so it seems bogdan will suffice. I think a fullback that can play on either side would be a priority (with Johnson and hopefully Enrique and manquillo leaving) and Montoya is a decent option and cheaper to clyne. Milner and ings are practically done and I think ings is as good as a squad player, nothing more. Milner on the other hand should feature in our first 11 currently and is a good solid addition. I only see konoplyanka coming in if sterling where to leave (which wouldn't be a sufficient replacement IMO unless we use that money for a world class striker) or if markovic went on loan or something silly like that, because that's what we do. Higuain will not happen unfortunately, but it's the right sort of idea, that is the calibre of player we need to go for this summer in that position, because the glass will obviously break again next season and ings and origi will not push us on.

Agree1 Disagree2

06 Jun 2015 22:15:26
To me, a top keeper is more important that a top striker with origi, ings and sinclair amongst the ranks. The fact that we bought Mignolet when we play a style of football that require a keeper with good feet is beyond my comprehension. Not good enough.

Agree2 Disagree3

06 Jun 2015 23:06:23
As I have said on numerous occasions; it is not about this player, or that player !

It is about the quality of the coach/manager.

At the moment there is not the slightest sniff of quality.

Agree4 Disagree4

07 Jun 2015 00:10:47
It is about the quality of player tho isn't it :S

It goes hand in hand, good coaches have great player. Simple as that.

Everyone praises RaFa, Evans etc

Yes they were good coaches but it was hard not to do well with the players they had. Where they suffered was the.investment to make them good teams - League winning teams but;

Fowler, mcmanaman, gerrard, alonso, carr, torres.

Just to name a few.

Brendan will do just fine if he gets the support going into this season.

Young players will grow and hopefully one or two additions will really help the group

Hello Eds.
What is your opinion on Sami Hyypia as a coach?
Do u think Gary Mcallister will be a good addition to the coaching staff?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Hyypia has had mixed results as a coach. I don't know which coaching staff you are thinking about in respect of GM. I assume you are not just going to waste everyone's time by listing random ex players and asking if they would make good coaches?}

06 Jun 2015 18:02:32
Ed002 I didn't mean to put names randomly. Since these were Ex players and rumours were suggesting the inclusion of ex players in coaching staff so I have asked the question as u have a better knowledge on these things.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am sure the fans crave the return of ex-players but it would in most cases make little or no sense. The club needs to move on. Obviously Hyypia is unemployed so he would eb available if the club decides to go that way. I can think of an ex-player who would be a far, far better option. Feel free to discuss Carragher, Joey Barton and the like returning to coach at Liverpool but I really don't want to answer any questions about them.}

06 Jun 2015 18:34:11
Ed 02 can I ask which ex player you can think of who would be far far better as a coach please?

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get into any of that.}

06 Jun 2015 20:20:52
Ed in your opoinen who's the best coach we had in last 10years was paco as good as everyone says?

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Pako was fantastic, but he was mainly a fitness coach. You have to remember these days there are specialist coaches for different things, so it is difficult to say who is the best coach we have had. The senior set up really has not had that many good coaches since the Roy Evans days. Houllier and his coaching staff were awful, players just got technically worse. Rafa's technical coaching wasn't the best either, though Pako was excellent on the fitness side, again players were not improving their technique, though their tactical knowledge made major strides under him. Steve Clarke did well on the coaching side, he made a real difference.}

06 Jun 2015 17:15:22
Interesting report circulating, as sterling wants to near home, Arsenal would be his preferred destination which could trigger a swap for Walcott or Gibbs. Gibbs has recently lost his place at full back and with Enrique looking at the exit this could be a possible move, With Walcott in mind this would also be a 'like for like'. thoughts?!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - This was dealt with a few days ago.}

06 Jun 2015 17:26:38
Isn't Walcott out of contract?
Not convinced by Gibbs.
Arsenal need to show us the money.

Hi eds

Settling in for the big game later?

Was just wondering, assuming that the theories that Rodgers is going to quit (pfft) because his staff were fired don't come to fruition. Does he have a say in who gets hired to work alongside him? Also can you confirm any likely candidates at this time?

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know what you are talking about in terms of him leaving.}

06 Jun 2015 15:12:03
Edd001. What do you make of the staff departures and what exactly is happening if you know mate?
I'm confused. Is Rodgers getting all transfer control and better coaches are coming in? I find it worrying that the man who Imo was responsible for most of our mess is getting more control and heads are being cut that Imo won't make an ounce of a difference.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is not about giving him more control, it is about moving on people who are deemed to be inadequate for the role they had.}

Lucas - great ambassador off the pitch, always give 100% on the pitch - can't ask for any more than that. our defence has been a total mess the last couple of seasons and don't think any more will be spent on central defenders given how many we have and how much we spent on them. could hypia come in to work with them to hopefully stop us leaking so many goals now ?
the thing that worries me with Rodgers is if he gets off to a poor start to the season and is sacked Christmas to maybe be replaced by klopp, fourth will be to far off again if we have lost say 4 or five games and we will have another "transitional" season. top managers like mournho have a plan a,b and c. if someone is not performing they will take them off sometimes before half time! Rodgers has no plan "b". he got lucky last season with a good run when he changed the formation with the 3-5-2 but when we where struggling towards the end of the season(hull, baggies, palace) he hadn't got the answers to get results . had no plan b. maybe if he gets the right striker in he may survive, trying to think wot striker would be best? aubameyang would he be a good suit for us ?what are his strengths and style I've seen he has impressive stats but only seen him play a few times when he's banged a few in champs league. benzima,higuin and j.martinez are all near 30 and expensive where as aubameyang is 25 and possibly realistic. cheers

Believable4 Unbelievable1

06 Jun 2015 14:02:50
If "he got lucky last season with a good run when he changed the formation with the 3-5-2. " maybe he got "unlucky. " when we were struggling later in the season. And he was lucky that we finished 2nd and unlucky when SG slipped, we could have won the title if there wasn't the slip.

Agree2 Disagree5

06 Jun 2015 14:10:50
Our defense has been shocking under Rodgers. When last prompted, Rodgers said laighably that the defensive problems are un-coachable.

Aubameyang is very quick, agile, and direct, and has a good shot on him, but I wouldn't go for him as I think he may lack that little bit of skill and understanding with other players on the field.

06 Jun 2015 20:22:35
Clearly the owners don't trust BR anymore so why is he still in a job anyway? They weaken him first knowing full well he'll prolly fail and if Klopp is to take over in Oct for example, the season may be lost already so why don't you just get shot of him now and be done with it? I doubt that Klopp wanted more control or even if this approach happened because at BVB, former club can't and legend Michael Zorc is their DOF and handles transfers so why would he want control when he didn't really have it where he used to be? Answers, anyone?

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Jun 2015 13:22:40
Just a thought. For all those raving about Monchi as DOF, remember he was born in Andalusia, came through the club's youth academy and retired as a one club man. He was perfect as DOF for them because he is a fan of the club and knows the club inside out. I wonder if he will have the same luxury here.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - he is perfect as a DOF because he has a good eye for a player with talent, nothing to do with where he is from.}

i read posts from this site but never comment or rarely comment, my take on the rodgers fiasco is he has to go , even last season when we were going for the title i found his interviews cringey , he loved to tell the media how he switched from 1 formation to another , he was on talksport nearly once a week and for a manager to be so high profile with the media was and is doing my head in , i am not getting involved in players he's fell out with because that happens all the time ,but one thing really got me angry yesterday , for the record i do not paticular rate the back room staff at liverpool but for rodgers to let them take the flack and he stayed there was gutless ,like its gutless to take players he never wanted ,he was in a pretty healthy posistion when we came 2nd and he should have called fsg out over players he wanted and did not want but he kept his mouth shut ,i do not want a weak minded manager at my club and if it was a ploy by fsg to get rodgers to resign then he should went down with his ship.

rant over franky.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has suffered with very poor media communication over several year. The whole Runt situation was mismanaged, Sterling made a joke of himself and the club, Balotelli was always going to be an accident waiting to happen and Rodgers has put his foot in his mouth every time he has opened it. Added to that there was the complete disaster of FSG's choice of Jen Chang. I should not say this but within factions of the press, the current incumbent, Susan Black is seen as way out her depth.}

06 Jun 2015 12:42:10
To be fair ed002, before signing balotelli, I would've bet his distractions outside the game would've been a lot worse than they have been thus far! Granted BR makes does well to grab the headlines.

Was referring to balotelli ed002. I'm just saying I thought he would steal the headlines every week for stupidity and it really hasn't been too bad; mainly because BR is a media teams dream.

Hi ed02, could we please have your thoughts on the current changes made by FSG. Do you think it's going to end in tears or is their more to come. Your opinions are appreciated as always

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - All aspects of the club have been assessed over the past year and many changes have been made. Whilst I would, personally, have removed Brendan Rodgers from his role, for reasons that are not clear to me he is still at the club. Whether this is on a probationary basis or not I don't know. What they club will do about coaches is yet to be seen but it is clear from what I know of the person forcing these changes, and the advice he has from one particular third party, that he will already have a good idea of the direction he wants this to go.

On balance, the changes made elsewhere within the club make sense but their fruition may not be visible through the on pitch performances.}

Ed2 do you believe a Director of Football will come in and pick the new coaches? If that's the way we are going?

Taking away from the transfer tatter
Hats off to Ed oo1 for predicting Hull for the drop and he explained they had a good transfer window but it depends how they are played and how they gel. HE was spot on!

And Ed002 said Balo will end in tears and I did not think it will be tears that would lead us to sixth place.

You guys put in a lot of hardwork and give the best (reliable according to me) info I/ most of us can have. Thank you for taking your time out and Macca! Hope we have a good transfer window followed by a good season.

P.s: If ED002 runs an internship or any sort such program I would like to be put first in the queue. Your depth of knowledge reg. football is immensely respectable!

Eds,

Checked search function, as of a few days ago it seems we will not approach for Higuain. Some time back Ed1 said he felt Benzema would suit our style more, however there now seems to be speculation of interest from Man U. Do you think he will move, and to where?

What other strikers might we hold an interest in actually pursuing?

Thanks for a great site.

Hi eds.

Someone earlier mentioned houlier. and you seemed to elude to a relationship of some sort with him. Just wondered what you thought of him. what's he like etc. Nit suggesting he's coming back or anything.

Cheers
intresting times ahead.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Houlier is very well respected as a coach throughout the European game. He has been involved with Clairefontaine from when it was first created some 30 years ago and has been involved in the development of the programmes adopted by and followed by the various academies across France. He is well liked throughout the game, except of course by Liverpool.}

May I ask why Liverpool don't like him? He's always seemed a lovely bloke to me.

06 Jun 2015 10:56:04
also - he is not responsible for all the problems in the world not even to all Liverpool's problem. The fact that he is staying for example is not his fault but the owners and I am a bit sick of people blaming him for that as if he hypnothised him or something.

06 Jun 2015 11:32:17
Personally, and I have said this all along, I don't believe Rodgers was mainly responsible for the transfers over the past couple of seasons, and to still have his job after the hundreds of millions spent suggests that the owners recognise this. I don't even blame him for the transfers of Allen and Borini who we know we're definitely his choice. A strong case can be made for signing those two players as players who had much potential at the time.

The thing with buying potential though, is not all of them will work out. It is very much a guessing game, and hopefully the transfer strategy will be different from now on. Like I have said, I'd like to see Rodgers given a transfer kitty to buy the players he wants with no specific criteria. Only then do I feel he can be judged fairly.

Agree2 Disagree1

06 Jun 2015 16:27:05
He has been in charge of transfers from the word go and no one forced anyone on him. He has the final say on signings as the Eds have said here repeatedly. His record is dreadful overall and the fact that he wanted Delph and wanted Lucas out shows he should be no where near a transfer kitty which is why the TC was setup last season because the owners don't trust him with money.

Agree3 Disagree2

06 Jun 2015 10:16:26
One played I am amazed Rodgers hasn't signed this window is Guidetti of City. Rodgers has tried a few times to buy him, but was always knocked back

. However Guidetti is now on a free contract. I'm not saying he will as I think he would have by now, but given his previous attempts and him being free it surprises me.

As the eds have said FSG are doing a top down review, which has taken a while, looking at all aspects of the club. They have obviously looked at training sessions and reviewed peoples jobs. Rodgers had brought with him Pascoe as his assistant. Chris Davies head of opposition, Glen Driscoll as head of performance and Ryland Morgans as head of fitness. Marsh/Achterberg were already here. Expect those lot togo if not upto it and replaced with better, more experienced people to support him.

So we are firing everybody else BUT the manager. This will be fun. Here in the States, the New York Jets did the exact same thing for two years with their manager and they got worse by the year until they eventually had the courage to fire him last year. Now, they are a mess, as we will be if they don't do what we all know should be done.

Problem you have his through loyalty Brendan would be pretty much throwing his career down the toilet.

Would Pascoe be ab assitant manager at Liverpool if it wasn't for Brendan? I think there kids are still dating, so hopefully Pascoe has thrown himself out to hope Rodgers stays.

At the end of the day Brendan might od been remembered as the great loyal one who support his friends inadequacy's as a coach and gave up his job as Liverpool.manager to support him but now finds himself back in a mid table club, and will never egt to the top again!

He has to stat and try an prove he is good enough and continue forging hia good career.

If he leaves now he will be forever remembered as the manager who had a world class player in Suarez, one hit wonder and not good enough abf that's the case at all.

I love the idea of this, however I think the club would need to be more stable in order for this to be successful. This works at Barca because the club is massively attractive for new signings, and hugely successful. We had our chance last summer when we had CL to attract the players to create some consistent success, thus make us more financially stable, and unfortunately the money was not spent well enough to do this, so we are back to square one.

No disrespect to Inglethorpe at all, I just don't think he has the experience to achieve what the owners want, neither does Brendan, but there you go!

FSG are trying to set out the parameters of control and they are still to Agee this with Klopp.

Bottom line is that FSG know Klopp is the man to get and in the end they will do the deals.

The club winning things or the waste of space transfer committee? It seems FSG are intent on keeping a failure of a system in place at the cost of not bringing in a world class coach with a lot of passion and a good eye for players, oh silly me the transfer committee have already made a cracking start in spotting Milner, Ings and Bogdan all who could have been scouted via match of the day,

Guys, looking at what's happening the last couple of days it looks a mess. However I have never been satisfied that our back room staff have been at a level that we need. If you go back through history all successful managers surround theirselves with top notch back room staff, Jose had Steve Clarke, Ferguson had mclaren, Kidd etc wenger does the same as did cloughie and we all know our history of back room staff. Maybe they have looked at this and decided that simply throwing away brendan and taking the chance on someone else is not the right approach. the more we surround the club with top notch coaches the easier the managers job becomes, I don't think it's anything to do with Brendan throwing people under the bus to save his skin, no matter how good a manager you are if the coaches aren't doing their job it's an impossible task.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

06 Jun 2015 08:57:40
It doesn't really matter how good the rest of the coaching staff are, you need someone in charge, who knows what they are doing and are ruthless, willing to make the decisions, call the shots, BR doesn't do this adequately, and surrounding him with great coaches will mean nothing, he probably won't listen, its why he surrounds himself with 'yes' men.

Remember when Brendan was appointed they backed down on DOF issue. Now you could say that they have learned a lesson and won't make that mistake again but on the other hand FSG will know that Klopp is pretty damn special and the chance to get him needs to be taken

FSG: Yeah, about that. Leave that to others. We are going to have a buy to sell policy. So you will have some good kids to work with. And every now and again we will surprise you with somebody like Super Mario.

JK: So you want me to turn around your great club with no control over resources?

FSG: Exactly. You get the same salary but for less responsibility.

Not a fan of what's happening.
BR is a stubborn man and refused to play the players bought last year (I assume by the committee). He initially refused the LFC job when offered under a DoF. The whole idea of a manager bringing his own people is that they share similar philosophies and ideas.
What will BR do if he doesn't agree with the coaches that are brought in? They don't coach the methods that he wants?
We may strike lucky and it comes off, but at this level I'd like to think that we didn't rely solely on luck.
How are the coaches going to react working for a boss who allowed his mates (who he employed) to be cut free, whilst not having the moral courage to stick with them?
What will the players think of this? I think they showed what they thought in that last game.
BR should do the honourable thing and follow his staff. Clearly that won't happen and FSG are going to bring staff around him to undertake the roles that he is incapable of. Seems a bit weak all round really.
Obviously I hope it works and I really hope BR proves me wrong.

I must say, the recent letting go off Rodgers' cocahes, including his best buddy Pascoe, is a strange decision. I don't think FSG are doing this to pressure Rodgers into leaving wwithout paying his full compensation; they have been here long enough, have spend largre amounts of money and have recently shaken up things behind the scenes; all signs of well thought out work, so I wouldn't think they would do something un-ethical and cheap like seeming insinuation.

I am however, no doubting theit acumen. To me, they want to put in "their people" closer to Rodgers, people who they will choose no doubt based on the advise they are being given. A coach perhaps more trusting to them than Pascoe or Marsh will be put closer to Rodgers, and this makes little sense to me. I have never heard of a situation where the Manager has to deal with coaching staff he didn't pick/want. It could also be a different position with Rodgers being the coach and a personnel akin to a DoF being put in place. Either way, it seems as if FSG want someone they trust in the coaching side of things, and I can't see any of this working out.

Managers split from assistants now and again. It's nothing new.

Hi eds, quick question, in a DOF/manager relationship who gets to pick the team approach/strategy? Seems to me Brendan is a decent coach but not a great people manager so a DOF role might help there, but the other concern I have is the constant formation changes and lack of consistency in style of play and team selections. would a DOF have any input there? Thanks for all the work you put into the site, been really informative and learnt a lot about how the club works.

{Ed001's Note - it depends on the club, but usually the head coach decides them, but is picked because of their approach/strategy in the first place.}

Hey eds, with the news about Pascoe and Marsh, obviously is clear that BR's position is far from secure. Would you feel that FSG will try and find someone with more experience to be assistant manager? Would you think that BR will be allowed bring in someone he wants to work with rather than the owners choice? Surely it would cause more harm than good to rip apart BR's backroom staff and start fresh, how you see this unfolding next season? Would it have not made more sense to sack BR too if they are cutting off his limbs?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it likely to depend on the DOF. I have been saying for a few days now that what they are doing is a mistake. They should have backed him fully or sacked him. This is just making everything into a mess.}

Help me out Eds!! All this shuffling and questions over rodgers future are driving me crazy!
I figured, perhaps stupidly that he was to remain for now in charge but everyone questioning this is making me doubt a little.

My question is if/when Rodgers does leave (cos this is never going to work long term) and we manage to get a top manager do you think the new backroom recruits will stay??
For me this is crazy because i would think most top managers would never want to work under those circumstances. i hope i am wrong because otherwise this looks like a long term nightmare

{Ed001's Note - it depends. Impossible to answer what ifs like that. There are far too many variables.}

He is staying for the next season and it is about time that all the wishful thinkers here will accept it at last. He will not resign and not go without his contract pay whoever is fired, which the oweners refuse to pay him. Sp we are stuck with him for another season although I know it is a lost battle because people will keep asking if he is staying even in August as I predicted many time.

Does anybody believe if rodgers handed in his resignation fsg would try to talk him out of it

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Don't you maybe think they want him to resign rather than sacking him? I don't have the insider knowledge of Ed001/Ed002 but what has happened with coaches etc is bizarre to me. Who's choosing these guys successors and will BR have any serious input on the replacements?}

06 Jun 2015 06:16:53
It definitely seems that way Ed007, it really makes no sense to me, perhaps a DoF will be brought in as suggested, but then surely why not change the Head Coach too, I can only see tension between Rodgers and the people around him in such a system, more worryingly would be if no DoF came in and someone else made the decisions on the rest of the coaching staff while leaving Rodgers in place. I'd be really interested to hear Eds 001/2 input on who they think should be Head Coach under a DoF if such was the situation of a DoF being brought in and BR resigning.

{Ed002's Note - Too many "ifs" - sorry.}

Firing Pascoe & Marsh is a lot of micro management by the owners who don't know much about football. If they blame the management, why not just fire Brendan ? and who is advising them on these matters?
And what does it say about Brendan ? the manager who refused to work with a DOF now can't even have a say on his own staff. and he went along with it.
I think FSG knows the right move is to fire the manager, they don't want to do that because getting a new manager would mean a lot of spending and another rebuilding. Now just like Balotelli they will try to hire a known name of some ex players who may not have enough experience in management at all.

BR would have thrown them under the bus to save his own neck. Still doesn't believe any of this failure is down to him. He's probably sweating like Sepp Blatter right now.

Isn't any of the failure down to the inept decisions of the owners? Transfer boards sanctioning moves for Balotelli when days prior Rodgers said bluntly he would never come. FSG need to sell to an owner in which we can be taken to the next level, or soon we will be dogging it out with West Ham for Europa football.

He had the final say on balo? Rodgers did. Who bought Borini, aspas and lambert and never gave any of them a run of games? Instead choosing to play midfielders there.

Eds

With juventus buying dybala, will tevez be leaving? Do we hold any interest in him? Scored 30 odd goals this season could be a great signing for us.

Cheers

{Ed030's Note - Good player but a lot of baggage. I wouldn't take him tbh. }

What a pity. I always harboured a very distant hope that we might make a move for Dybala - guess I can bury that one.
