Ed002,
The growth in Brazil's economy has now overtaken the UK's as the sixth biggest in the world.
Is this wealth filtering through to their football clubs ?
How far off, possibly, would there be a stop or even a reverse of their best talent coming to Europe for the money ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Their football clubs rely on companies to sponsor individual players and third party ownership. Nothing will change in the short term.}

Does Ed or anyone know what the Chelsea fans were singing about Benitez? Nothing to do with Liverpool i know but interesting to see what people would think if he did manage Chelsea? Aber Red

I would not be happy about it myself but the mans a great manager and he needs a job so i woundnt complain hopefully he'll do as good as torres for them ;)
big red john

The plastic flag wavers were singing -

You're not wanted here,
You're not wanted here,
F*ck off Benitez,
You're not wanted here.

Honestly, they don't deserve Rafa.

Sean

They still can't get over those champions league exits to us.Rafa was the only manager in Europe to know how to play Jose at his own mind games in Europe.

Please don't go Rafa

I actually think that with a decent kitty, Rafa could be huge at Chelsea. We know they would be a bit dull to watch but he he knew what to do in Europe. Hopefully, the plastic fans' disgraceful chants and the owner's petulance will turn him off going to Stamford Bridge.

First time in a while I have properly watched Torres tonight, I really really really am failing to understand why some people want him back? He can't score looks like he has cement in his boots looks terrified of everything. The guy has generally lost his mojo it would be a complete backward step (I no he's not coming anyway) I can see him escaping to Malaga in my opinion.

Square tomato

I've never seen a player looking so relieved when a ball to him is intercepted by a defender. Not only would he miss a cow's a*s with the swing of a banjo, but he looks like he wouldn't know if he's in the same field as the cow or not. Or indeed know what a banjo is for. It's a bit painful to watch.

Square Red

Your right square red and I have zero sympathy for him.

Square tomato

Never before have I witnessed such a dramatic demise in a player's form. Simply put, Fernando looks like a broken man. He has lost his extra yard of explosive pace, his positional sense, all effort is gone, he appears afraid to even receive the ball and is not willing to receive it in the first place. His first touch is dreadful, his shooting's gone, accuracys gone, that 6th sense for a goal in the box has left him. A truly magnificent demise indeed. The man looks like he's never seen a football before, defender's must be delighted to play against him these days.

He's currently stealing a life as a professional footballer.

I wish him well.

I used to think we needed to keep Aquilani but watching the Arsenal game, he looks very overweight and pretty poor in general, best rid I say

He is carp was when he came and still is..

06 Mar 2012 21:10:56
Ed how has Teixera been doing since arriving here?

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - I don't think he has played yet.}

Training hard hopefully! {Ed001's Note - he has been injured mostly.}

Watching the Birmingham v chelsea match and its written all over torres he dosent want to be there! The announcer made a very good comment saying he would of put that away in a red shirt

Liverpool FC is the only club to get him back to his best do you lot want him back

Agree or disagree

alec

Shut up with all this torres rubbish, he's past it, he's also moody childish and a brat and done the dirt on us, i for one hope he enjoys playing for some average team in spain next year, the greedy git

G BOX

To be honest, the more I see of Torres the more I believe his problem is a physical one.

Canadian Fan

I can't understand why anyone, would want him back? Everyone forget about the way he left us, I know it's hard but try, he's f*cking crap. Andy has a better goal scoring record, since their moves. But yet some people would rather have Torres?

Torres just doesn't enjoy playing football anymore. He used to have passion and desire but since his injuries and after winning the likes of the Euro and WC he's pretty much achieved what a footballer can (Bar the Champions League) He's lost hunger and once that's gone, no move no matter where to would change him. He's a different person altogether than the red Torres. Move on, draw a line, look to the future.
NextGenRed

He's just completely lost it.
Kev7

I didn't say i wanted him back if you read it properly it was a general question. so put your claws back in

Forgot to sign above post, sorry.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Let's put an end to this rubbish once and for all.

Torres in his pomp was played in a particular way. Either off the shoulder of the last man, or pulling out wide. For Athletico, for Spain and for Liverpool. He then got injured. He lost a yard of pace, and his first touch. Look at the Chelsea game at home when he scored two, one through the middle, bouncing off the defender, one pulling off left and curling, brilliant, but only because he was allowed to play in that pattern. Now that he's gone, he has now found out what it is about his make-up that made him the most feared striker on the planet- hunger. Liverpool, the fans, the cause, gave him that meanng. Now all that has gone, now h's playing FIFA 12 with his rich mates.

Hunger Fernando, that's why you were good mate, but now your belly is full.

Shame, what a player.....

For all you who want him back remember one thing....will he be hungry? His move away said it all. Everyone elses fault. Too late. The horse has bolted. Sorry Nando, but this is a good bye letter to you. Adios.

Find it interesting how often we end up talking about Torres on here. Not a complaint as I'm equally guilty! For me, Torres clearly isn't the player he once was and I suspect the injury a while back may have been more significant than was let on as ever since both his pace and more importantly his touch have been very poor. That said, he seems to get pretty poor service much of the time as a CFCS player, but that's just my opinion I suppose. Curious what your thoughts are on Torres, Ed002, being the resident Chelsea supporter?

RDL {Ed002's Note - I wonder why the Liverpool fans are so obsessed by him.}

Yeah Canadian red, he physicaly cannot play football, to slow, week, bad touch, and most importantly he's ugly:)
/Last part was to joke/

Ed002 - I wouldn't call it obsession - We are interested in what happens to him because he wore our Red once. We are Liverpool Fans - when they walk out the door they aren't just forgotten. Good, Bad or Ugly - we shall remember them all and have an interest in thier futures, especially those like Torres, who offered us so much as a Red. We are not Chelsea!

RedOz

I dont really want Torres back..but i just want him to score goals wherever he is...he is one of my favourites ..like RVP and Villa. Because he was such a good finisher.
CFC dont create nearly enough opportunities for him...their playing style is different i guess. It would be a shame if a talent like his got wasted...

Pankaj

I know thats a typical off me....n i hate it but do admit it many of us do still like torres .

n i have a feeling ...if there is one place he will reborn as the old redone ...means the old f torres the world knows ...its here at anfield

Hope we are not interested in some of the names mentioned on here we are Liverpool football club we should not accept sub standard signings if players are not better than what we have got don't mention them let's just make a big signing each year not 4 or 5 mediocre ones

Get over yourself and get behind the club...

I wouldn't take Ibrahimovic for free

Lol!
taran

You couldn't pay me to have him

Chris in Tamworth

He wants to win 'real' trophies

Think he wants to play in europe
pkj

Typical football fan lately he was the best thing since sliced bread when they won 4-0
big red john

We are in Europe next season

He played well when they won 4-0 and thats the only time in many times of watching him, especially against English opposition that he didn't look like a passenger. I know how impressive his stats are but he's always looked awful to me. By the way please clarify what this " typical football fan" is of which you speak

Chris in Tamworth

In a few weeks, it would be like a 2m pound singing!

Too lazy for my liking... remember seeing him warm up at the Juve game in 2005, just not interested, they were doing shuttle runs where he was lapped by a 34-35yo Nedved!

I don't know if it was mentioned earlier, but Nordfeldt has signed for Heerenveen. I don't know what Comolli's plans are for the summer, but with all the players who are likely to leave and the obvious needs we have, it seems that a substantial investment seems inevitable. It pains me to say this, but I think fourth place won't be achieved. Maxi, Kuyt, Aurelio, the two sub GKs are likely to go. Johnson might follow and none of the players on loan are expected / wanted back. Correct me if I make false assumptions, but if I'm not too far off, that is a lot of bodies to replace. Add a striker, right winger and perhaps a RB and we are looking at 7 to 8 new players. Let us say purely for the sake of arguing that three academy kids are promoted, we still looking at 4 to 5 new players. This is obviously inconsistent with what Comolli supposedly said not long ago. However, we might have little choice if we want to keep up with the competition. One thing remains certain, this summer we will have to bring in better players than last.

Canadian Fan

Aurelio- replaced by robinson
maxi- replaced by a rw
new gk
johnson- replaced by isla?

dont think kuyt will leave. Wilson is out on loan and i doubt that he would be sold. All we need is a striker, rw and maybe a rb if johnson leaves.

Robinson to me is still a question mark. The fact that Johnson moves to the left every time Enrique is out has to be looked at. The kid might become a good player, but next year might be too soon. Kuyt has served the club well, but he isn't getting any better. If we are ambitious, Kuyt needs to be replaced by a younger, more effective player. Also, Dirk has been on the bench more often than not this year and at his age he'll want to play more often. I still think minimum 4 have to be brought in.

Canadian Fan

Robinson has only just come back from a long injury lay off, thats why johnson covered left back

hi eds,

just wondering do we have a buy back option on thomas ince?

cheers {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware - they are very, very rare in England.}

To all the doubters, be careful what you wish for........New owners to replace Moores = Hicks and Gillett.......Rafa to be sacked = Woy. For the 1st time in years we have stability, decent owners. 1 goalscorer in the summer will make all the difference. Lets back the King, cause at the end of the day he has Liverpools best interest at heart and not some personal agenda.

Kevo

What have the owners yet done or achieved to say they are good owners. Personally my judgement is reserved. They are Hedge fund investors searching for long term profits. I fear they lack the credible finance to compete in the current arena.

Hope to God im wrong but we are not outta the storm yet.

Yes, but in order for them to be successful then they need Liverpool to be a success on & of the pitch. The 2 things go hand in hand.

The Irish Rover

I never wanted Rafa to leave! I loved the days of Spanish Liverpool!

Hero.

FSG is not a hedge fund. It is a holding company based in Boston that owns Boston Red Sox and LFC. They have given no indication they are going to cut and run, with either entity.

Henry runs a hedge fund in Florida, but that has nothing to do with LFC - it trades commodities in the exchanges.

Stop fear-mongering.

I agree with you. I am seriously on the fence here. If Sustez goes on the summer then I will be firmly to get them out of the club.

Fenway sports group is not a hedge, the hedge in Florida is not even making him half of what he earns with the red sox

Were they not interested in Lyon before buying LFC?.
Let's be honest at £200m odd, the got a great deal.

You ask what have the owners done?! Unbelievable, bailed us aout when we were under serious threat of being taken over by the banks. You have the memory of a goldfish!

They want a solid investment that means long term sustainability and profits, you don't get that by paying players £250k week and building your fantasy dream team.

Hey eds,
Now I don't claim to be a Benitez like tactician but surely making Kelly full time right back and pushing Johnson up to right wing would solve some of our problems on the wing,at least in the short term. Gareth Bale was shocking at full back but since moving higher up the pitch he has been a revelation. On top of Kelly is alot better than Johnson defensively. Surely it's worth a try seeing as fourth place seems beyond us. Any thoughts?
Cheers,Matlock.

Johnson has been a big part of a solid back four this season . i like kelly but he was exposed on saturday , he has potential but not at johnsons level yet .
true red

This has been covered at length.

Realistic red

Kellys contract dictates that he can only play at RB! There lays the problem

You mean Johnson's contract not kelly's?

That's supposedly in Glen Johnson's contract!

If that was the case how come johnson has played left back for us aswell?

If GJ can only play as defender, maybe he could play as 'sweeper' just in front of back four, would be interesting to see him partner Lucas there!.

You mean stopper , sweeper is behind the centr halves

06 Mar 2012 19:23:43
what do you think, which youngsters will be promoted to the first team next season?
Sterling? Suso? Eccleston? Texeira? Adorjan?

Only Sterling

Sterling, Suso, Wisdom.

Suso, sterling, coady, wisdom, and possibly Sama

06 Mar 2012 19:18:31
Two things I wanted to mention

Firstly about Downing. This lad has got talent, be rest assured of that. The reason why he hasn't been bangin in the goals is because he is having to learn how to play with one of the best attacking full backs in the league, often on a break. Downing tactic pre - Reds is to square the fullback up and then dive inside or outside. Doing this a lot in a game means you get a rythmn about how that pattern of play turns out. Johson, Lennon, even Dyer are played in such a way that when they get the ball, they are one on one with the full back, Valencia is a classic example of this. Today, often because Enrique attacks, Downing holds his run.

This is an example of two team mates really learning how to play with each other, developing an understanding and knowing when and when not to go. In the great traditions of club, expansive attacking football where the threat comes from every RedMan, not just one or two.

Give it time, the lads will get there

Good post and sense at last!

With europa league football being attainded next year do u think we will send less players out on loan (for example shelvey wilson flanno) and give them some more playing time in this competition as tottenham did with players like livermore

whats going on with this site its making very hard reading, feel for the eds i can just stop but you guys can have to read this crap.
people just have no patience the success this club has wasn't built by rich Arabs its was built on togetherness, and over a long time, clubs like ours will be remembered till the end of time so keep the faith and stick together there enough people out there to cast doubts.

Hi Eds and Reds,

Not really a lfc topic, but should/when Arry Redknapp become next England manager, the big names such as Mourinho, Moyes etc been banded about, but I think Chris Hughton would be a great candidate, he done a great job at Toon, is doing a good job at Brum and he is a Spuds man. There is some perhaps bad blood over his sacking when Jol got sacked, but I think he is probably one the best up and coming manager who's enjoyed success .

Just a thought, what people think ??

Rebel_Red

Yea, I like him. I think he needs to stay where he is and prove that he has what it takes tbh. I'm sure if there's an upset tonight-his name might get more airtime!

My shout would be Brendan Rogers. He's doing an incredible job at Swansea. Quite staggering really.

Lee YNWA

Rebel_Red do you really give a hoot what go'es on at WHL? if you do go and tell them on their page! As this is LFC related banter page! Sorry for being blunt!

Maybe you have got yourself a long shot bet at the bookmakers ?

Qwerty

Well to the unnamed keyboard warrior, I dont really care bout what goes on at WHL but i am only given credit where credit due.

@ Qwerty & Lee YNWA, glad to see someone can appreciate opinion on footballing topic discussion non LFC related !

Rebel_Red

Rebel_Red you nearly got my name right! No name Warrior! And i did say sorry for being blunt!

Positives so far:

Won the CCup
Still on for FA cup
Back in Europa
Developed a strong Defence
Reduced huge debt
Return of the king
Bought decent young British players
Reduced massive club debt
Brought in new owners that ooze passion
Developed new talent through the academy
No longer solely dependant on the same 3 players

Negatives:
We are not in top 4 (at the moment)
Slightly tarnished our name with racism
Blew a fair bit of cash on Carroll
(who seems to be getting better)

Give it more time before you stick the daggers in people. Just because we aren't in the top 4 yet doesn't mean the club is doomed.

What a great positive approach cant fault you mate.
Derek

And the fact that the wife of our main owner is the best looking one in the EPL?

Iggypop
PS we also have James Bond and that Danish tennis player as well!

And none of the strikers or midfielders except Bellamy have a clue how to put the ball in the net.

Another positive.
'Playing some fantastic football'.

I just love what the team and manager are trying to do.
A few more tweaks, and we are there.

Shankly's Red Army.

Back in Europe. Soon the Europa league will be our norm, honestly we keep falling back and we'll be a solid mid table team. Glory days sure are gone.

Yah am all optimistic about the game, i didnt support kind kenny when he first came but looking at our place i would want him to stay on a permanent basis, in his first full season we won a silverware and ended our 6 years cup draught, we are now in europa league, we are in quarter finals of FA cup, its improving, his buys werent performers when they were bought but now they are starting to find the form. king kenny has a passion for this club and let the passion rule the club

apparently sterling pulled out of the u18 national team for this weekend. it happens to be on the same day as our game against sunderland i believe. is this because

1)of the fact he may play with us? he has been practicing with our team
2) he is saving his energy for Ajax?
3) He is doing a combo of the both? 10-20 minutes for us and then play against Ajax later in the week

ED001 specifically please {Ed001's Note - it is for the Next Gen game I am told, he was struggling at the end of the mini derby this afternoon.}

I do hope it's Option 3, but he did take a bang on the calf today so it most likely option 2.

RedSG

He took a knock late in the 2nd half, and we will need him at his best for the next gen game against Ajax.I do think he will be giving some game time for the full team soon as he's getting better and better. Also Suso has started to play well since starting on the right side. I can see both lads becoming big players for us if the keep progressing. There are alot of decent lads in the reserves,as they showed no fear at Goodison against a strong Everton team with plenty of experience.

Eds out of the current crop of youngsters who does kenny see as future senior players, as from watching the reserves i see sterling, suso and coady and a few others have bright futures {Ed001's Note - I believe he has high hopes for Silva, Adorjan, Ngoo, Robinson, Sama, Wisdom and Mendy as well. Sorry I should say that is the coaching staff for the kids that have high hopes, not Kenny himself.}

I'm surprised to see Mendy's name thrown in there! He's one of the older ones isn't he, and am I right in saying he had a first team squad number last year but has had it taken away this year? So I was expecting him to be released this year! How is he performing for the Reserves? Many thanks!

DP

Mendy? That's a little surprising, other than that those are the players who have stood out. I quite like the look of the new full back, and in the academy Jack Dunn has always impressed.

Richards

Ed001 I am very surprised to see you leave Coadys name out, is he not progressing as well this year as expected?? {Ed001's Note - I was mentioning the ones not mentioned in the question, just adding some more.}

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is wanted by mega-rich Paris Saint Germain, the club's president has revealed.

TalkSports.

So £50m in Again ? Don't waste it in tall British talent .

Rock.

No way...

Shouldn't we be looking to build a team, not dismantle it? Lee YNWA

Id take the £50m any day of the week and try to replace with Llorente, Martinez and Muniain ( with a few quid thrown in too of course ).

Its up to Suarez if wants to go get the best price if he wants to stay than offer is good enough... simples ffffth

That's right let's get rid of one world class player and replace with another, honestly we never have more than 3 world class players in our team at one time. Fact

Post to the eds - big chunk of posts today seem to be way off the mark and appear likely to have come from opposing supporters.

May be incorrect but it appears the majority of posts are pretty pointless drivel - do we really post that type of rubbish elsewhere?

Would be a real shame to dilute such brilliant fans site(s) with a growing following with the sort of tosh that's posted by others. I personally don't spend time on other fan pages other than to occasionally read (frankly I don't need to) - but for one solitary post - they are theirs and generally we're all talking about the same players in most cases - but posters masquerading as LFC fans defeat the object surely; anyone agree please post reply with your usual sign off...

I'd happily pay a quid a month as a membership to ensure it's just my fellow fans that we're posting to, I might even pay a quid for the pleasure of being able to post on another forum, but at least I'd be visible recognised as an actual LFC fan.

Anyway would be interesting as a business case to canvass a view - thanks for all the eds, 01/02/03/04/05/06/007/08...etc

Cheers, YNWA - Suffolk'n Red {Ed002's Note - If there is nonsense from those who are clearly fans of other clubs then much of it gets deleted - at least by me. But you do need to accept a lot of the Liverpool fans are extremely fickle as evidence any weekend where there is not a win. There is nothing I can do about that.}

Appreciate that you're doing the best you can and that humans in generally are fickle beasts its not just us - just seems a shame that it's not able to be more closed / controlled as I'd pay you for the benefit of it...

take care, Suffolk'n Red {Ed002's Note - But that is not the way it is going to go.}

Been reading this site for years and years...back in the day when we had Rainfishtrombone annoying us. It was all one page back then! I'm more of an observer than a poster - but agree re your thoughts on the matter. Lee YNWA

Totally agree with Suffolk'n Red and Ed002 i will never stop supporting LFC and i think the way most fans have turned against them is pathetic i have lost more faith in the fans than i ever will with LFC

MJ {Ed002's Note - The time to get this message out is right after a draw or loss.}

It's unfair to say we haven't mad progress under Dalglish!
He has won us silver ware in his first full season after long 6 barren years. And we are still in the running for Fa cup.
But yes our League position is disappointing, wrt to second half of last season after Dalglish's arrival we have been very poor. Yes we are not playing badly as of Hodgson's era, the problem is we are not taking our chances. But what is the cause of it, new players taking time to settle in or wrong choices made in the transfer window.

Bellamy [free] : excellent
Suarez [23.5m] : excellent

Coates [8m]: v.good
Enrique [6m]: v.good

Adam [8m]; above average

Henderson [16m]: average

Downing [18m] : below average
Carroll [35m]: below average

Doni [free]: have nothing significant to do so far

total spending by Dalglish: 114.5M
Lets say 55M recruited from the sale of Torres and Babel. Even then thats 60M.

But after spending 114.5 million Dalglish record is disappointing, our top priority for the season is out of our hands. The cup triumph might give some relief but if we failed to win it wonder what the story would have been.
Think there is two reasons why Dalglish's new project is not running smooth, 1) the players he bought are not good enough OR 2) his tactics are not so right.

But no matter what Dalglishh has something to prove in the days ahead remaining days of this season &. next season. The tale is not over yet and Dalglish is no doubt a man of talent who has enough in his pockets.

Come on King Kenny! Where is your magic!

What about the 12M for the portoguese lad

What about the 5M from the isreal lad

What about the 4M from Ngog

That has reduced your 60M down to 40M or thereabouts

"Come on King Kenny! Where is your magic", do you actually watch the matches? How many more chances do you want the team to create?!

Kenny has done a great job its not his fault 6 pens have been missed, 21 hits against the woodwork and more shots off target than on.

All we need is a goal poacher and some luck for the others.

Sterling is the winger we miss and Lucas the Defensive midfielder

Chill out

Who was the Israel lad for 5mil?

Creating chances is one thing, actually scoring the goals seems to be the problem.

Earlier posts refer to Rafa'a style of football, but I seem to remember us finishing top scorers in the league for 1-2 seasons. For the other seasons we were near the top as well.
Coupled with a very mean defence.
Don't forget the season we finished 2nd (with our highest points total ever that would have won the league most other seasons) we were beating most teams while scoring 3,4 or 5 goals.
There was a run in the second half of the season that was something like, 4-1, 4-0, 4-0, 4-4, 3-5, 4-0 and these weren't against smaller teams. They were Real Madrid, Man U, Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea.
I truly long for those days again.

Spot on mate, rafa was a brilliant manager, I don't know why rafa comes under such stick, people go and look at theeavje positions we finished in under rafa, a solid champions league team, some of the signings rafa could have made given the backing would have made us world beaters, but alas the media did its job as did the cowboys and now rafa has this undeserved reputation, I hope he goes to Chelsea with some financial backing and shows everyone!

3-5 vs Chelsea would have seen us through in the Champion's League- it nearly was but the result was actually 4-4.

06 Mar 2012 17:42:04
Went to watch the reserves today in the mini derby, liverpool played well and Sterling and Suso were quality, great future players! Have to say Barkley did nothing to back up the hype around him, looked poor

06 Mar 2012 17:11:58
Who really thinks we are a growing force in English football? Take a look at the gap between us and man city, then ask your self if we are making progress. Forget the carling cup, it was woeful. When Chelsea won their first title in 50 years we were so far behind them, Steve G wanted to join them. This season we will finish as far if not more behind the champions. So what right minded player will choose us over the 4/5 teams above us. We are not knocking at the door of greatness, we are only just about able to see the top of the table as it dissapear

What a vile post. What's your point & where's your answer>? You understand nothing of the last 10 years. Do you simply want us to agree that our club is useless & without future? Leave your name so we can engage you because as things stand your words are as welcome about as welcome as an STD.

dd

We may not like the truth of the post but it's very true. People need to seriously wake up. We are AVERAGE

Nothing vile about this post, it states facts, just hard to swallow as a Liverpool fan

06 Mar 2012 17:09:58
Are there any supporters on here that DO actually Support??

If support means close your eyes and say agree with whatever kenny do then no.

Its getting really depressing reading this site nowdays. all of them want instant success. if we fire kenny for bring stability and winning a cup we'll end up like chelsea. our league position will take time to improve.

amar

I notice you never left your name so i guess next time we win you will be humping Kenny's leg like a good little boy saying how great he is...Some of you fans make me sick

MJ

Depends on the definition of support!
To most of the moaners on here it must mean buying a club shirt and watching games through whatever medium they can,but never in real life these same people then have the cheek to come on here and not only moan about the team but the support as well.
Derek

Ridiculous to say you earn the name "supporter" by attending games. Impossible for a lot of people to ever get to Anfield, I support Liverpool from wherever I am or whatever i'm doing. You also get whiny, moany, hungry-for-instant-success person supporters too... Even at Anfield on matchday.

For people on here who say that the likes of Sterling and Suso and ready to step up to the first team yet i suggest you watch the Everton reserve game that was on earlier today. Everton had a very strong and experienced team out against our youngsters and Suso and Sterling completly dominated and ran rings around these premiership and international players. What i would like to see is for the youngster to come on as subs in a few of the remaining games of the season.

Valley Red

What's that saying? if your good enough your old enough! i think both those player's are good enough! bit lightweight but so was Gigg's when he started!

I watched it to and our youngsters passing and movement was first class and sama and wisdom was superb in defence, the future looks good with these kids

Who gives a rats apse about Giggs

MJ

I was just saying as an example Gigg's! as he was a whippet when he started but an extraordinary good player with it! what's wrong with that MJ?

Didn't watch the game, but I would assume the Everton 1st teamers that were playing were probably lacking match fitness, makes a big difference. Not saying a cameo here and there would hurt, but their not 1st team squad ready yet.

We are over 25 points of the top, by the end of the season it could be 35 easily, so ask yourself.
How much progress have we really made since KD returned? We look more solid at the back, except when carra plays.
We seem to coup a lot better without SG. We have done ok without Lucas too.
But going forward we are so lacking in ability in front of goal.
We look like a team that could really score plenty of goals but we are so poor in front of goal right now it looks like we will struggle to beat any team comfortablly again.
In tight games you always feel we are going to regret our missed chances.
Carroll and suerez dont look like forming a deadly partnership and neither look like they will ever score more then a small amount of goals.
In reality we are going to struggle to finish 6th playing the way we are, when goals dry up so do points and our fixtures are not easy, we can forget climbing the table and start worrying about not slipping down the league. Other teams around us seem to have found form and look more dangerous in front of goal then us.
The next 5 games are going to be so tough, let's hope we are still ahead of Roy Hogsons WBA when we go to Newcastle on April 1st.
Should WBA finish above us then John W Henry will have to ask the question have we progressed at all. The carling cup was a great example of our season, Stoke will be tough and our league position is under threat.

We are so off the pace, can we really every close the gap on the mancs

Knocking the mancs out of cup competitions doesn't count then?? Btw introduce yourself, I see no name, what are you worried about?

dd

When someone comes on and states some home truths all people ever say is put your name, who cares, he's so right in what he says, where going to finish at least 30 points off the top and honestly it's embarrassing, but hey what a great season if we knock the mancs out a cup, can't wait for next season when we knock them out some cup and then finish somewhere in the middle of the table.

Does anyone else agree that our strikers/attacking midfielders generally seem to need to many touches to put the ball away. I noticed it massively in the Arsenal game. Kuyt in particular, although I'd never over criticise him too much as he always puts in a shift.
Would any of our players have scored Van Persies second. I doubt it, not many would. Most would have controlled it and 9 times out of 10 the chance would've been gone. The only players ever, that I could see taking that on would be the likes of Fowler, Dalglish, Rush, Bergkamp, Cantona, Van Basten etc.
But it's someone of that ilk that we need to put these chances and half chances away in the blink of an eye.
It's such a fine line between winning and losing these days, as we've found out many times. We could be flying high.
This summers transfer window is going to be massive. DC and his team will have had over a season to settle in and should have some class identified in the positions we need it, and there will be no excuse to be in 7th or 8th next season, Kenny or no Kenny.
Chelsea have just sacked their manager, they are 4 or 5 points ahead of us and still in the CL. Are their expectations higher than ours? Because they shouldn't be. And how ironic would it be if WBA finished above us.
So I'm not saying we should do anything rash yet, but if we're treading water again next season I think it'll be time for change. Thoughts?

Miroslav Stoch shows Chelsea what they're missing with wonder volley for Fenerbahce

Now that's some goal, is it with his "wrong" foot? Thought he was a left winger?

That explains why someone asked if Liverpool were interested on Stoch on the rumours page. I remember Tony Yeboah scored a goal like that back in the day... we could get him in on a free.

Hmmm have to say i am a little taken aback by the backlash from Saturday's defeat.

The usual Henderson, Adam, Carroll, Downing bashing plus a more worrying surge in the doubters regarding Dalglish.

A lot of these moaners appear to be missing the point after Saturday's game. Whilst agreeing whole heartedly that it is getting very, very frustrating seeing the same pattern emerging from every home game. We mustn't lose sight of the standard of the performance.

I listened to two points of view over the weekend from vastly different people. One a Liverpool fan who after watching the game in the pub, lambasted the team and the manager with "Absolutely disgraceful, not fit to wear the shirt, bunch of over paid tossers with a manager who hasn't got a clue about tactics and selections AND the players you bought are all a waste of space." I cringed. Very embarrassing.

To Jan Molby who stated he thought that it was Liverpool's best performance of the season. Enough said. The problem is there are a million like minded fans with this current opinion.

The missed chances, hitting woodwork, missing penalties are now detracting from the overall performance. I have to say it's getting a little tiresome having to keep repeating "better team, played well BUT........"

And it's gone on for far too long as well. However we have to call it properly. If the team did poorly then comment, but if they played well individually and collectively then at least acknowledge the fact.

How anyone can say we played crap and/or the manager is useless after Saturday's performance is beyond me.

Yes i agree the subs (timings) were strange but we never know the full SP about fitness of players etc. I take the opinion that Dalglish viewed the game as one we couldn't afford to lose, rather than one we had to win.

We're not out of it, although i think 10 pts is perhaps too much.

Bob the Red

You cant say that we played crap Bob but what you got to look at is, 13 corners, twice hitting the post and a penalty miss is just ridiculous. Its not the first time and im sure it wont be the last where we arent sticking our chances away. Even when we did get a goal, it was off their player. I go week in week out, and you can play as good as you want but if you dont convert your chances you wont take 3 points hence the game is worth zilch. Like Kenny Says, we need to start winning ugly! But agree Bob thats the bombardment on Kenny is totally not on and you will probably agree that its the selective supporters who dont really have a clue that are the ones asking for kennys head.

Sam Adzii JFT96

Apart from a few game's Bolton Spur's and Man U all away we have played some really good football! for nearly 8 month's this problem of putting the ball in the back of the net has been there! the January window came and went! yet that problem is still there! what are they doing in training? as it seem's their not focusing on finishing! Were fan's are saying we're no better off than last season we were 3 point's better off with same game's played but even though we're playing much more attractive football and you can see the player's putting the effort in 4 win's at Anfield and one of the lowest goals for in the league just do'snt sit right with a lot of fan's! ok we won the Carling Cup getting to the final we deserved to be there but overall we we're lucky in the final which did just paper over the crack's! i'm not calling for Kenny's head but with the outlay the club have spent i'm far from happy with some of the player's we have bought!

The following information is taken from the BBC match report following the Carling Cup final..........can someone please explain how "overall we were lucky"?

Cardiff 11 Shots
Cardiff On target 7

Liverpool 39 shots
Liverpool on target 19

Cardiff Corners
3 (all in extra time)

Liverpoo Corners
19

The only reason we didn't win the game was due to, missed chances, woodwork, clearances off the line, sound familiar.....TMac

Yes TMac the story of our season! when i said lucky i meant the penalty shoot out! with Cardiff reaching the final through penalty's and when Adam missed our 2nd penalty me and thousand's of other Red's thought that was it! Pepe did'nt make a save! it could of went pear shaped! it did'nt! we were unlucky in the game! very lucky in the shoot out!

I am watching a young reserve side, boss an experienced Everton team, and have the same problem as the full side. We have had umpteen chances, hit the woodwork, but no Cigar.Stand outs for me Sterling and Suso. The young Irish lad Ryan Mclaughlin at right back was excellent also.

Micheal Mouse

Must say, it felt great to see, the way we played. feeling proud, indeed. Remarkable performance today from our youngsters against their quite experienced side. YNWA

Sterling was unbelievable. If Rodwell is worth 20 million god knows what Sterling is worth

Hurray, did they win another big trophy?

Hurray are you still jealous about our Cup...Other teams fans mention it more than we do.

Certainly agree with you about Ryan Mclaughlin, Michael Mouse. He's impressed me all season and I think Flanagan has got his work cut our for him if he wants to keep ahead of the young Irishman. -SH-

Just a thought, but we have he same points total after 26 games this season, as we did last season. Do people think we have progressed on where we were last year? Does the league cup count towards genuine progress? What are people's thoughts?

Ash

I dont know really Ash. Winning a cup is obviously a bonus but you got to look at the objectives start of the season. Our objective was top 4 and the owners said if we did not get that our season would be deemed a "disaster". Also Ash, within that time we have been bought out, had lots of changes within the team. I dont think on stats we have moved far forward but on getting ourselves back to a respectable club, re-branding Lfc and also with the sponsorship deals we've done, we are in a much much better position than last year. Saying that, still 12 league games to play, anything can happen still...

Sam Adzii JFT96

Well last year for most, we were terrible and not performing up to the par. We had better finishing rate then, which was the reason for the points. this season probably thats the only deptt, where we have lots to do. Other than that there is certainly an improvement. And as for Carling Cup, I must say, we've left the whole English clubs behind us for the cup, haven't we, as the were all playing for it. So thats improvement, certainly. YNWA

I think the way we are playing is a vast improvement add a striker and a RM in the summer and who knows

daft question alert,if none of the youngsters are good enough for the RM berth[Suso anyone] why not play Kelly RB and Johnson RW,the modern fullback spends half his time as a winger anyway and nothing should get past them.

Because Johnson knows it would affect his RB spot for England. Am I also correct in saying Ed Glen Johnson has a clause in his contract whereby if he's fit he has to play? Or somethign along them lines....?

Sam Adzii JFT96

Adzii, this wouldnt suprise me as everyone can surely see kelly is by far the better defender yet johnson always plays

phil

Maybe Kelly is a better defender than Johnson, but he offers nothing going forward, poor crossing and leaves himself open, also how did he miss that sitter on saturday?

06 Mar 2012 15:18:48
Patience is a Virtue. I think if our bench next year was Doni, Coates, adam, Carrol, kuyt and say kelly we all be happy right?.

In recent years our squad has been lacking depth which this year we have dealt with the players we have bought are good not great but good. A lot of them fill the criteria for the home grown rules and are good enough for liverpool but probably not good enough for the starting XI with the exception of enrique and bellamy. This year has not been perfect but hello the king has returned who saw that coming!?! Lucas has been injured HUGE blow how would man city have done without kompany? or united without nani tottenham without bale? 4th is 90% out of the question this year granted dissapointing but two trophies and europa would more than make up for it (and for those who says the CC is not good enough i dont know about you but i went mental when we won didnt think about it one bit a time of victory) . Then with a world class right winger and a striker we would be back in with a shout. Our football has been the best it has been this year for years granted not the best on results. We now have a squad that is a) happy and b) can rely without gerrard and carragher. Good season progressive and btw how FATASTIC is it that not one person on here is talking about the board and the owners another huge plus debt very low and wage bill is being reduced every year all steps in the right direction. the future is red. I think many of the Liverpool banter posts today are from frustrated Chavski fans trying to offload their rubbish flops back to us. i.e Torres, Mereiles and Bennayoun.
Either that or our London/Southern based Liverpool fans have been watching Spurs Sports News and London editions of Fleet street newspapers and are worried that they are not been wound-up and why journalists have stopped making up sh**te about Liverpool from their offices in Wapping

I think the major problem with our buys were that they probably wernt our first choices....Im pretty sure we wanted Henderson, but we wanted Young and ended up with Downing, we wanted Llorente and ended up with Carroll, we wanted Jones and ended up with Adam and Coates...theres still no reason why they shouldnt be performing better....

Ed001 do you reckon gerrard will be fit to play on saturday ? or will it take more time for him to recover. {Ed001's Note - I am not 100% certain, but I was told he would be fit to play, but he probably won't be risked, due to the stress that had been placed on his body lately. It does seem likely that the club will be very careful with a player who has suffered badly with injuries in recent times.}

FACTS HURT BUT LETS ALL GET A REALITY CHECK.

Reina living on reputation from previous years to inconsisitent Doni needs play time.
Carra, error prone , not quick enough and his reading of the game seems to delude him at times.
Henderson, what a load of sh*te thats all on the lad
Adam, has far too many bad games and lacks pace.
Carroll will turn ok not great but just ok but needs to bulk up and up his pace.
Suarez is a great player if you watch him he makes some great off the ball runs but our midfielders just dont have the intelliegnce at times to thread that killer ball disecting the opposition defence.
Youth players need bringing in just 2 for time being.

KingSinGH

Absolutely right what your saying cant understand the plonkers who have disagreed

Bang on the money

Andy needs to bulk up does he? I wouldnt have thought so.

The last thing Carroll needs to do is 'bulk-up'. If anything he needs to lose 2 stone and do some sprint training.

Disagree with you on Henderson and Carroll! Henderson has been playing out of position and do'es have load's of potential! Carroll on the other hand i don't think he can turn the light on never mind ok or a defender!

Ok just a opinion, not a negative or knocking any of the players but what do you all think.

Some of the players in which we have signed under Kenny have been signed based on potential. The others i.e Downing, Enrique have been signed based on form.

Brittish players for me cant keep up with the pace and fall massively behind everybody else. How many young brittish academy players do you see abroad making it in? Or how many Brittish players do you see at least get scouted for a foreign team.

On the flip side how many young Foreign players do you see coming over here and filling our academys up? For me, as a nation, English football players on a whole lack flare (bar from a couple of exceptions). They dont have as good a footballing brain like the spanish or the Italians and also dont look as fit as they do. Look at the evidence from what we have signed. Suarez and Enrique you would have to say have been our 2 best signings out the lot, and guess what they are foreign! Carroll, Downing and Henderson are the ones that are under the most scrutiny. End of the day, when you look at the facts i think our money would have been better spent on foreign imports instead of young english talent. Hate to say that but its my opinion. In spain, the majority of the clubs squads are mainly Spanish players, Germany the same and so to Italy. England rely on foreign players because our brittish players are simply not as good. Back in the day, sure Kenny got it right but the game has moved on and the tempo is much much higher than it was 20 years ago. Ill always be behind my players but its a observation. Thoughts are welcomed

Sam Adzii JFT96

English clubs used to have only homegrown players coming through the ranks. Since we have been allowed more than the 2 foreigners in British epl teams like it was when I was young, the interest in England has been tipped in favour of overseas talent. Therefore our up and coming youngsters are not always given a chance.
I would love to limit the number of foreign players a team can have ..maybe maximum 5 in a squad. Then the time and effort would be put into bringing on British youngsters to reach their potential. It also might improve our national team too! How many top players in the EPL are English ? No wonder we play predictable, boring football at that level.
KJS {Ed002's Note - You do realise that it will do no more than drag down the quality of the game in England.}

The foreign players are keeping our league alive unfortunately.

Sam Adzii JFT96

Doesn't KJS realise that the UK is part of the EEC and that the majority of these foreign players now have as much right to play here as English players and that any limitations would be against European law. Can you also name any English players outside the Premier League who should be playing for England. You could probably count them on the thumbs of one hand.

I know everyone has their own views about who we should sign in the summer and the eds (who do a great job) probably get fed up on answering questions about it.

Personally I would like LFC to sign a fox in the box striker i wouldn't mind Jermaine Defoe top striker, scores goals, 29 years old I know but I reckon we could get him for 5-6 million play him for a few seasons and slowly introduce Morgan from the reserves.

We need an out an out right winger I dont want Hazard though, top player yes but serious attitude problem things he's gods gift and I dont want our club to be used as a stepping stone to Spain. I know players have ambitions and thats good but throwing it in teams faces is not.

SA

Some of you muppets need to get a life, Critisizing the team and KK unduly has a negative effect. This season has seen a great improvement. This team is great to watch, the amount of chances created is at record level, you don't create these amounts of chances with aa poor team. The team only needs a RW a bit more confidence . Many of the players take a shot when there is a better option, this should be ironed out on the training ground....Bobbinred

Great post saying go for AVB. Move Kenny upstairs, bring in AVB who will bring back Torres and get rid of the rubbish such as Carroll and Henderson and Downing and Adam. Cant wait.

So...bring in the least successful manager at Chelsea in recent times PLUS the biggest flop of a striker they've had since Shevchenko - and this will be the cherry on top that take L'pool into the CL and challenging for the PL?

What logic did you apply to arrive at that outcome?

Mind you as a United fan I'd be happy to see that happen : )

AVB will bring back Torres? The same Torres who AVB was arguing with on the training ground leading up to his dismissal? Some people make you wonder

I just have to say this I LOVE THE KING and all hes brought to a team who did not secure european football and was near liquidation. The club is now creating profit which is more important that buying players and the sponsorship deals are huge. This Club the club i love was near extinction i dont think people realise what has happened in such a short space of time and how well we have done to create a club that runs on profit and not in debt {Ed002's Note - The club is not running at a profit.}

Oh yes we are just about {Ed002's Note - Not a chance, sorry.}

In his short spell at the Bridge AVB proved himself one of the worlds greatest managers. He is now available so FSG should move heaven on earth to get this special talent to Anfield. If our owners backed him he could get rid of Gerrard, Carra, Agger, Kuyt, Riena and Bellamey and build a young exciting team that could dominate for years. Also AVB would have the clout to lure Torres and Meirelles back to Anfield.

We should not sit on our hands if we want a talent like AVB crouching on the Anfield touchline.

Worst post ever, obviously a chelski fan. Why would we want avb? And why would we want torres and meireles back? I'd rather have kuyt and gerrard in the squad next season! Why would agger and reina be shown the door? Why would carra be kicked out, he's gonna be part of our coaching team and future manager!

AVB's win ratio was 48% . That - for recent Chelsea managers, was poor.

Ranieri 53%

I stopped reading at getting rid of:

Gerrard - THE CAPTAIN
Carra - Vice-captain, and although no longer part of his team, he will play till he retires
Agger - Arguably our best defender
Kuyt - Great squad player
Reina - One of the best goalies in the world and possibly future captain
BELLAMY - One of the players of the season so far.

You, my deluded friend, have a serious problem.

I agree, no Liverpool fan would have posted that and to think, they haven't even signed their post either! If Kenny hadn't of wanted to take over, I wouldn't have minded AVB, but to say he would have got rid of x players you are deluded!

Pepe Reina. World class goalkeeper on his day. Unfortunately he has made a number of mistakes this season like on sat against Arsenal by being beaten at his near post. Is it time to give Doni a game to see what he can do?

Also sadly I think we all know Jamie Carragher is past his best so do until we continue with him until Agger is fit or play Coates?

I know Im opening up a can of worms but discuss

I'd prefer to see Coates in place for Carra - but its not my decision, lol!

If Stevie is out you can hardly leave the vice captain on the bench or you face the prospect of stripping him of that - not something any LFC fan would do lightly.

It is time for JC to step aside, I think he will at the end of the season, meanwhile he is and will always be the formidable, Jamie Carragher!

Suffolk'n Red

I would play Coates. maybe he is young, lacks experience (in the epl i mean), but how else can u get experience then? I would put Carra as our 4th defender.

Kaizer {Ed002's Note - I also understand he is struggling to learn English.}

Learning English aside... I think if we are honest with ourselves we have an outside chance of Champions League football at best so we would benefit more from Coates having a run of games if/when Agger is not fit so he can make a play for a first team spot. He hasn't had the chance to fully adjust himself to the PL yet so this could be an excellent opportunity to adapt.

I'm not ending Carra's career but I think it would be in the best for the teams future....

Stick with reina and carragher. Coates will see more game time next season, especially if carragher retires.

Did not realize u said give doni a chance until i read MIKEY's post. I say stick to Reina too.

AVB to be installed as Liverpool manager by the start of next season. The yonks have always seen king kenny as a stepping stone and AVB fits in with there 'project'

Do you think that he would like to return so quickly to England after the treatment he received yesterday from the players at Chelsea? He will also have a settlement from Chelsea and there may be a clause regarding employment in England within the time-limit of his original contract with Chelsea. Such things have happened before.
Dutchmal

Dutchmal, if I were AVB I would want to get straight back into it, in order to prove myself as a manager. He was treated badly by his players, but apart from them, he seems quite liked by the rest of England.

I think AVB has offers in the offing from Porto and Inter, but if KK's position became available in the summer, I wouldn't mind having AVB as a replacement, based on his exploits at Porto.

RedSG

AVB handled the Chelsea dressing room badly from the start , and did n't get to grips with the English game up to the day he left, this shows his young age and lack of experience, why would you want him managing our team, sorry but he is not fit enough to clean Kenny's office, not yet any way.
Roy

Hello RedSG - It is possible that AVB wants to get straight back into things but some clubs have a 'dog in the manger' attitude. They sack a manager because they don't want him but they don't want their rivals to have him either for a certain period - usually the length of hos original contract. Things like this have happened in the past. Beside, it's all irrelevent at the moment as at the moment we still have a manager.

Any chance of avb in the summer, he was given a raw deal by Chelsea me thinks. Benred

AVB was the worst Chelsea manager oif the last 12 years. See the stats further up.

There was a reason nobody gave kenny a job for over a decade. Look at the table

Cos he didn't want one?

Liverpool were the only ones that he would have come out of 'retirement' for. How do you know he hasn't had offers?
Kev7

I know for a FACT he was offered the job of managing Shamrock Rovers

4 HOME WINS ALL SEASON how is kenny in a job. I dont care too much about the carling cup to be honest i enjoyed the day but in 5 years Stevie G aint going to tell his daughter he won the carling cup he will tell her more about the CL and FA cup. Kenny is maybe the worst tactical manager this club has seen apart from Roy Evans. To win 4 games at home is sackable. He might think the carling cup will save him but the owners will think different.
I have been told that they see our league position as NOT GOOD ENOUGH and to finish high in the league was his main aim and he has failed already! we are never going to be top 4 when he buys the rubbish he has so far.
People on this site think he has made some good signings but lets be honest Suarez is a worse finisher then odemwinge from west brom. Bellamy cant play two weeks in a row and carroll and hendo should be parceled up and stamped RETURN TO SENDER.
Kenny has done nothing to convince me he is the man to take us forward. Even the cup win was pure luck and if we had lost do you think he would be here now.
Im all for giving a manager time but we are in a lower league position then last season at this stage so no progress there.
The owners will sack him and i would not blame them one bit.

Worst post of the week.
Avoid.

MIKEY

Why are you so negative? I used to be like you; Till I tried Tree Hugging? I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT! It will ease all your angst.
kidmillions live in Storton Woods.

Rome wazn built in a day there was alot of players that come in and still setting in relax and just trust Kenny

I know it sound's negative but the original poster do'es raise some valid point's!

I can see some points too. To all the Kenny haters (too strong maybe) you must think us Kenny fans are happy with our league position right now! I can tell you I'm far from happy, but and it's a big but, what is the alternative? Go down down the Chelsea route and swap managers every few months or stick with someone until he gets the side he wants and then judge him! I want to give Kenny at least another year, see who we sell and buy in the summer/winter and go from there! If he doesn't do it then, I'm sure he will fall on his sword, but until then, support him and his players! If Rafa (for instance) was the man to do it, he would have done in 2009, but he didn't for whatever reasons and they have been discussed to death.

Keith

Our league position is terrible. And kenny's signings may well be his undoing. Remember Kenny is the fan's choice, not john henry's.
Indian Buzzer

Keith the run in 08 09 was the best football i've seen played by LFC for year's! and we were so close! and as Indian Buzzer say's Kenny was'nt John Henry's choice! as he know's it's gonna have an adverse effect with the fan's if he tried to move him on! most of the fan's anyway!

Thanks MIKEY - saw your reply before i read the post so took your advice and avoided - cheers mate.

Morning Eds
I think that we can all agree that there are going to be players who we have reservations about, thats just football and our opinion.

Kenny has purchased players who fit the jigsaw puzzle okay some have not exactly produced but it happens. The good thing is we played some excellent one touch footie in the first half against the Gooners that even their fans would have been appreciative of.Yes we need a couple more additions to the squad in the summer and perhaps we may see Suarez playing in the kenny role next season with a two pronged attack.

Remember We've won one cup and are in the quarters of the FA cup.Remember last season we had nothing to look forward to.

REDFORLIFE

I disagree without suarez and bellamy, lfc look average with those british buys.RedTurk

wasnt suarez considered a clinical finisher when he was at ajax. does anyone have any views on why his conversion rate is so low for liverpool? could it be the high quality of the keepers in the premier league or less time to make decisions as the defenders are better? or has he simply been unlucky. if he finished off chances like he did in the eredivisie i believe we would still be fighting for a champs league place.
i think someone with real pace around suarez would force the defence to sit back a little and give him more time to sum up the situation and execute more accurately.
NZL_red

Look at what he did against Arsenal. It sums up our season. Hitting the post and keepers pulling off world class saves [when he dribbled through 4 players] Any other player from any other team and that would have been in. It's just our luck this season.

BthekingB

Cos ea removed his clinical finisher specialty from the game fifa12? lol. once twice, maybe its luck. but im not sure if it is really just our luck anymore. we do need another striker.

Read this article, its a good read regarding Luis' efforts

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/mar/05/liverpool-luis-suarez

RedSG

Van Persie has always had the talent but has never been this consistent and clinical a finisher? till now after how many seasons? There's your answer? Give Suarez Time!
kidmillions

Yea i defo think suarez can be our 20 plus goals a season and i think the article has got it spot on. he doesnt really have a defined role in the team. is he there predominantly to finish off chances or make them himself? at the moment he is trying to do both and as good as he is he cant do both week in week out
NZL_red

That's an interesting article RedSG. I posted something similar on here (although not so eloquently) that he seems to have twisted and turned so much that by the time he takes his shot he is almost "dizzy." Interesting read.

Charlie Adam back to Blackpool in a swap plus $ deal for their new signing Fowler! Haha, Just kidding.

Keep up the good work Eds.

You may joke now mate, but wait until Fowler scores a few and there will be people on here calling for his signature - bet you can't wait for that one Eds!

LIVERPRES

We should give him back for free

Forget Torres! Apart from losing his pace and his form he was on over 100 grand a week with us and when moving for 50 million I'm sure he is closer to 200 grand a week now so how could we afford those wages? We'd be paying twice the wages for half the player? That would be insanity!

Hugh Pugh.

He would take a pay cut to play for us again!

I jeard he is going to Anzhi anyway as he wants to play for a big club.

LIVERPRES

A quarter of the player, mate

cozinoz

Even though he aint scored i would still rather have him carroll. My gran is more mobile then him

Why, Carroll has scored more goals than torres?! People saying they want torres back is a joke, the chelsea fans laugh at us for it. He's not even a fraction of the player he was and he's proved that he's a mercenary. Let him go to the 'big time' in russia for his big wages. The fact that he's got more yellow cards than goals and no trophy after the way he left and what he said when he left is laughable. Leave him to it as far as I'm concerened.
Kev7

I would like to see him back, but its not his era anymore, its the suarez era.. Want to see suarez doing good again! P*ssTake!

Carroll's strike rate at Liverpool is better than Torres's at Chelsea.

An aircraft Carrier is more mobile than Carroll

The problem is that British Aircraft Carriers are even more scarce than British strikers.

I can't believe all these negative posts, Liverpool fans are famed for there support wordwide........it took old whiskey nose 6 years.....success DOES NOT happen overnight. Lets get behind the players and manager and support them, be the 12th man. IMO we are much better of now than we have been for a long time.....

Well I reckon that reality shows that unless you bestow a manager with a couple of hundred million net, then 6 years would be a good bet and you would be a bit of a simpleton to expect otherwise. Ed002 reckons the owners expect a miracle in 12-18 moths of their takeover. A laughable idea. Unless we get smiled on by lady luck, forcet the CL until 13/14 and forget a sustained challenge on the prem for 1-2 seasons after that. And that's provided we stick with Dalglish. Change managers and it will take even longer. RED LENIN

Dalglish will be sacked in the summer before he can waste any more money

Forget all the moaners all we need is a goal scorer n we will be fine we haven't played good football like we have been playing this season for years ,I think saldado would be perfect for us hope we are interested in him, king Kenny is the man for the job ,he had already deliverd a trophy in his first full season bak ,leg end

06 Mar 2012 00:06:56
Ed why didnt the kids get more game time this season?

We saw them last season

Raheem Sterling
Jonjo Shelvey
Jon Flanagan
Martin Kelly

plus we havn't played 3-5-1-1 I really liked that formation {Ed002's Note - I feel like this gets answered every day. Kelly, Flanagan and Shelvey have had chances. Their time will come. Sterling is just 17 and really not ready for the step up yet.}

We did not see raheem sterling last season

Has anyone here seen the movie Moneyball with brad pitt and John Henry.

If LFC are looking for the next big star before anyone else gets them, Well like arenal. When we have to invest in scouts. world wide army like man utd and arsenal. If we apply the theory to premierhsip, then we would buy players like Adams who had lots of assist last season for blackpool. We would buy downing who made the most dribble/crosses, and we would purchase Carrol who had great heading goal return. Henderson who was voted sunderland best player for tackle made.

The only problem, the premiership moves at such a fast pace, we can't over pay for premiership standard.

Okay, I'll ask.......WTF?

LIVERPRES

Ok....are u saying that Liverpool is using the same player buying technique that Boston Red Sox used as shown in the movie..? I dont know..maybe ..If they are, then we are in for one rocky ride...because we will not be buying overpriced players but will be going for players with less wages (not talking about transfer fees) and lesser hype about them. We are going to change the game..lol.

Pankaj

Pankaj, I haven't seen the film but we do seem to be going for players with low wages and low hype: Henderson, Downing, Enrique, and to an extent Carroll

Red Ollie

They're not getting 100k per week, not near that i think? if im not mistaken?

Kaizer

Downing is being paid really well.
