Hi all,
So I'm taking a few friends to anfield for the first time Saturday, they're keen to see the Team arrive etc,
Question is. what sort of time does the team coach usually arrive and will it be in a different location now the new stand is there?
Thanks for any help 🖒.

Not actually sure you can see them anymore pal. There js a new coach entrace for the players. Its goes under the stand sort of, surely there going to let people see them but this is business nowadays.

I think by now we are all in agreement that Alberto Moreno is terrible defensively, but I'd just like to address the myth that he's good going forward, because quite frankly he isn't. I think most people assume that because he's fast and spends the majority of his time in the opposition's half that he's good going forward, but when you watch him attack it's quite clear why he's a failed winger. When he attacks he hardly ever beats his man and when he does he almost always passes back across the box instead of crossing. When he does cross his crossing is woeful and he always either over-hits the cross or doesn't beat the first man. He does however have a great shot on him and scores the odd worldie and surprisingly is a good passer when he chooses the right option, as his decision making is woeful. Nobody can fault his enthusiasm and effort though.

{Ed041's Note - gd post

06 Sep 2016 21:44:19
yes good post, I just can't understand how we started him in our first game of the season, away to the gunners, you just knew there would be goals at both ends, then Klopp er rests him, and well, you know the rest .

06 Sep 2016 22:37:09
Is there anything he is good at? Lol
It's a shame actually he's a nice lad in person.

06 Sep 2016 23:22:47
Didnt he have a great stat last season for "chances created", "key passes" or something like that? can't say I rate his attacking abilities, just asking.

06 Sep 2016 22:01:39
As per the stats Moreno created more chances than any other full back whole last season. I don't know the criteria behind such stats. And there should be a reason for Klopp to put the money on him,

06 Sep 2016 23:39:45
I can fault his enthusiasm and his effort. If he was so enthusiastic and had so much commitment he'd bloody work on the shocking deficiencies in his game and try and stop being a laughing stock.

07 Sep 2016 02:10:43
There are far too many variables to consider for you to simply take things down to stats, for example what styles do the teams use, we have our full backs pushing forward at every opportunity but Southampton may have theirs sitting back, which would skew things. Also from how many crossing attempts? 100 from 1000 crossing attempt would look far less impressive than 50 from 100 from another player. Moreno should also be judged against other wingers since he hardly ever gets back to defend in time, so I would use the term full back very loosely with him.

{Ed001's Note - just to point out Klopp never bought Moreno, someone further up suggested he did. Moreno was a Rodgers buy.}

07 Sep 2016 03:26:05
I have never thought Moreno was good going forward. His end product is awful, can't shoot, can't cross and is rash in the challenge. The guy is such a poor player with no football IQ that I wonder how he became a professional footballer.

07 Sep 2016 04:13:10
Anyone see the peach of a ball Brad Smith played in to Tim Cahill to win the Socceroos game last night?

07 Sep 2016 07:07:39
Cut the guy some slack . You know Klopp doesn't have to play him or Rodgers back in the day for that matter. If he isn't good enough then Klopp should sort it, and if he doesn't (which he didnt) then he must be happy enough. This constant slagging of a player is annoying. You have all made your point, now its up to Klopp.

07 Sep 2016 08:57:55
But Klopp is playing Milner, a midfielder, out of position at left back instead of a fit Moreno ans looked for a left back in the summer, which tells you all you need to know about what he thinks of Moreno.

07 Sep 2016 10:26:46
The Lil Magician

Which tells nothing other than Klopp trust on Moreno and Milner combo. The manage had 2 months and chunks of cash to bring a LB and all he could do was empty hand. Klopp wasn't tied behind his back. He chooses not to bring simple as that. You cannot blame the player for it.

07 Sep 2016 13:05:19
He was searching for a left back, even putting in a bid for Chilwell which shows a lack of trust in the combo. Milner plays ahead of Moreno when fit, which is a fact, Moreno hasn't played a minute since the Arsenal game. When a midfielder is picked ahead of him in his own position, that shows a lack of trust from Klopp in him.

07 Sep 2016 13:28:27
I`m blaming Klopp for that because he knows Moreno is poor and Milner is a midfielder. I don`t believe there was no one else out there on planet football we could bring in apart from Chilwell. That is just nonsensical, IMO. Klopp chose not to bring someone in hence, he deserves grief for not addressing the issue if it starts to hurt us this season. If the buck stops with BR when he made mistakes, it should be the same for Klopp. Mind you, this doesn`t mean I don`t like him as I am a big fan of his. Just calling it like it is.

07 Sep 2016 14:27:58
@hamilton red that would have been the equivalent of buying balotelli when you can't get sanchez, buying for the sake of it when his choices are not availble is not the answer.

07 Sep 2016 15:03:36
I think this left back debate has run its course, we all know that Milner is only a quick fix, till we bring in a proper left back, yes Klopp should have made this position and the goalie his top priority, fair play on the goalie, but to not bring in a left back, is just asking for trouble,
it is coming out now that he did indeed try, and clubs just would not sell, but I agree Klopp should have found someone .

07 Sep 2016 17:28:15
What if, and I am literally just suggesting this, but what if Klopp is working hard with Moreno behind the scenes, trying to get him ready and Milner is just a stop-gap until he believes Moreno is ready? Chilwell was never going to come in and start straight away, he cannot even make the Leicester side, so was he even trying to replace Moreno? Was he even looking for a first team left-back? Or was he always going with Moreno or Milner?

07 Sep 2016 18:01:58
Great post Irish Rover 👌.

07 Sep 2016 18:47:31
Waqas, your comparison is false and fall flat in the face of fact. Balotelli unlike the LB situation like we know it, was the last resort as BR dithered and dallied with signing a striker to help replace Suarez`s goals. He rejected Bony and Remy (who were ready to come as Remy even had a medical) and God knows who else until it was too late and then signed Balo. He even said before that that Balo would categorically never come to LFC and then, poof, here he was so your argument is false. On the contrary, Klopp wanted Chilwell and Chilwell wanted to come to LFC. But for reasons still unclarified, it did not come off. Hence, my question: Was Chilwell the ONLY LB we looked at? If that is so then weserve exactly what we get right now because no club will pencil down only one option to fill a position. Like any interview process in life, there are multiple candidates. Not just one. If Chilwell didn`t come off, who was next on the list if there was one as any LB with half a footballing brain cell is better than Moreno? Can you answer that because I sure as heck don`t know. Hence, the reason why the LB issue was a shambles that even amateurs would make such mistakes.

07 Sep 2016 19:27:34
So amavi, hector and others that were mentioned by eds, are not alternatives that were considered according to you?
Secondly i thought milner played very well at lb against spurs! let's wish the lads well and enjoy, its only three games in a 38 game season.
Wtf kinda supporter says the bad stuff is deserved for his/ her team that too just to prove a point!

07 Sep 2016 19:32:34
Fyi the original argument was klopp didn't go for any panic buys where balo was a class a example of one, which we should be happy about!

07 Sep 2016 22:32:13
Sydney! just might have a point there. JK is a firm believer in training and development, and he is an intelligent man. Moreno had the no 1 property of a Klopp fullback, pace. If JK can teach him to position himself half decent and get him to calm down a bit things might work out. Not sure it will, AM seems to be lacking, almost ineducateable, in general understanding of the game.

07 Sep 2016 23:31:35
Waqas, mthanks for reminding me of Amavi because I completely forgot about him. Even then, the boy is just recovering from a bad injury and like
Inge, needs time to come back. I wasn't for him to come over for that reason alone, not because he was poor because he is not. I also think Milner was solid vs Spurs but was caught underneath the ball to Dier for their goal and that can happen to anyone because had we taken our chances, it wouldn't have mattered. Klopp's spent eight months last season teaching him to position himself to the point of partially costing us the EL final yet he's still as poor a footballer as I've ever seen, period. If Klopp wants to take up this project then it's his cross to bear hence, why said we deserve what we get by not planning properly which in this case, we did not, IMO.

08 Sep 2016 04:13:55
Milner doesn't offer anything better going forward than Moreno. He cannot cross from his left foot and at every instance he shifts form left to right which is an issue to me.
He couldn't position himself in the midfield not sure y people think he is good defensively. A very poor choice which will cost us points this season. But it doesn't matter as long as Klopp could get hs CL place next season.

08 Sep 2016 14:37:44
I am sure Klopp also asked about that Italian full back, he ia normally a right back, I think Milner would be even better at Right Back, his crossing would be much better, Klopp said it himself, the buck stops with him, tho I think that we will concede too many goals from wide positions, and Klopp will regret not bringing in that Left Back .
Ps, we have got to win on sat evening, its a massive 3 points .

08 Sep 2016 14:44:58
Agree on your final point, Sweet.

06 Sep 2016 17:44:21
Right, not sure if I have it has been suggested here but seen it been discussed many other places on the net. That is the suggestion of playing Klavan at LB.

I do not see how this will be of any benefit and would like to get Ed001's opinion on this. Others welcome too.

I have read about Klavan playing as a makeshift LB before but how many of us have seen him play at LB and how many times? Surely Klavan will be last resort for Klopp at left back as he is not the type of player that is going to speed up and down the pitch providing width and then to track back to help out the defence.

What we do know is that Klopp is big on his fullbacks bombing forward and then having other players to cover for them.

So Ed001, do you think it is a logical idea to go with Klavan at left back unless we really have to in the case of injuries when he is not an attack minded player and does not quite posses the pace required to fill the role of an attacking fullback.

Also, want to get your opinion about moving Milner to RB and playing Moreno at LB. Ed001, I have seen your views on Moreno's defeensive capabilities but I would much rather have him on the pitch than Clyne who is as culpable when it comes to getting caught out of possession and makees many mistakes which go unnoticed by our fans.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - Klavan couldn't cope with pace at centre back, it would worry me putting him at left back, every winger with pace would tear him a new one. I would rather stick with Milner playing it.

Moreno is hopeless going forward, as well as defending, Clyne is slightly better. Also Clyne does not get targeted in the same way by opponents, so it is less of an issue with him.}

06 Sep 2016 18:21:45
Thanks for the reply Ed001. At least we agree regarding Klavan at LB not being the brightest idea.

06 Sep 2016 18:37:46
Clyne isn't that bad give him a break.

{Ed041's Note - not that good either.

06 Sep 2016 18:49:03
dezyboy, Southampton were happy to let Clyne go. He is not even a shawdow of the player at LFC compared to what he showed at Southampton. Gross overhype. LFC were offering Clyne around which suggests that the club is eager to offload him.

06 Sep 2016 19:45:15
Kloppo will get the best out of Clyne, don't worry about that.
Klavan is decent backup.

06 Sep 2016 20:05:03
Mane was also let go then was he?

06 Sep 2016 20:37:07
Klavan said he hasn`t played LB in several years so don`t know what good that will do. he`s also a sitting duck for any decent winger as he lacks pace so no-can-do. Dezy if Clyne was that good, why was Klopp trying to get rid in the offseason?

06 Sep 2016 21:09:58
In defence of Clyne, name me 5 right backs in the league who are better than him. He does his defensive duties well enough the majority of the time, which is why teams don't target him, and when he gets forward, he usually puts in a decent cross, and once in a while a great cross. He is poor with the ball at his feet and has a mistake in him once in a while but overall I'd say he's a good full back, in comparison to the others we have playing football today. His pace is also an asset, both getting forward to attack and getting back to defend he also has the lungs of a horse and is never injured.

{Ed041's Note - Valencia, Bellerin, Coleman, Sagna(not in any order) off the top of my head id have over him. hes in the bunch below imo.

06 Sep 2016 21:26:15
Max, Clyne was let go because he was coming into the last year of his contract, we even paid about £12m for him still, which is a lot for someone in the last year of his contract.

06 Sep 2016 21:44:11
Clyne and Sagna yes Ed, Coleman at his best I'd agree with but Valencia, no, I do only watch United when we play them though, but I can only ever remember Coutinho ripping him to shreds when I have seen him play. My point was that Clyne was a good full back in comparison to what we have today, the fact there are less than 5 right backs in the league better than him (imo) is more to do with the general lack of quality right backs around today than Clyne being a world beater. Bellerin and Sagna are both quality though, Coleman had one quality season imo.

06 Sep 2016 21:47:09
Talking about Southampton, did you know that Mother Teresa has been declared a Saint, we are putting a bid in for her in January .

06 Sep 2016 21:44:11
Clyne and Sagna yes Ed, Coleman at his best I'd agree with but Valencia, no, I do only watch United when we play them though, but I can only ever remember Coutinho ripping him to shreds when I have seen him play. {Ed041's Note - he has really improved now he knows the position.

06 Sep 2016 22:20:43
I'll suffer through the pain of watching United and give him another watch or 2 then Ed, although I'm pretty sure we have a match against them soon which will spare me the trouble.

06 Sep 2016 22:03:47
How about Danny Ings at LB. apparently he has no place up front. He is fast and suits the Klopp style.

06 Sep 2016 23:16:47
Coleman! 😂😂 honestly when was the last time he had a great game. Average player has been for quite a while now.

{Ed041's Note - when did Clyne have anywhere near as good a game as Coleman?

07 Sep 2016 19:01:05
Don't forget Azpilicueta.

06 Sep 2016 17:07:11
Hi Ed002 if she is around,

What are you thoughts on Mino Raiola recently stating that he expects that within the next 3-4 years for transfers to break the £200m mark for a single player?

Simply put, how can clubs afford such an outlay? Is it simple a case of the new TV deals or are there other factors that are coming in to play?

Thanks in advance.

Big love
Red Sandman.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - He has seen the projected income figures that have been estimated for each of the "elite" clubs considering the breakaway - and there is some foreplay going on right now. The thing is that for some of the clubs (several, not just one or two), the figures look way too high for me. Regardless, he knows he is likely correct.}

06 Sep 2016 20:11:20
Think he is just setting market expectations for what he expects to earn in the near future. 😀

If you are in any industry you try to talk up the market when it is in your interests to stimulate it. why should a football agent be any different.

Having said this I do find it interesting that Utd spent the same with Raiola as we spent on our record signing. Apparently Raiola can't play LB either so wouldn't have been worth it for us 😀.

{Ed002's Note - It i exactly as I said Kiddfan. There has been a prediction carried out by an accountancy firm given the exit criteria over three different dates. It was shared with the clubs that are part of the breakaway discussions on Monday Morning - and Mino is basing what he said on that - nothing more. As I said, I would caveat the figures as some seem bery high for some cluns - but supect Mino will be proven to be correct.}

06 Sep 2016 21:19:59
The higher the transfer fee, the higher the cut for the Agent, did you know that Mino Raiola earned more from his wheeling and dealings than Ronaldo earned last year .

06 Sep 2016 22:10:01
These super agents have some interesting names don't they?
Kia (Joorabchian), Pini (Zahavi) and Mino (Raiola) .

Don't think I'll ever become a super agent with my name 😡.

06 Sep 2016 22:23:34
Foreplay? Ed, what Mino does in his spare time is none of my business and after seeing him, quite disturbing to think of.

06 Sep 2016 22:49:03
Rion Keague.

07 Sep 2016 13:29:55
I can no longer un-read that, Ron. It`s stuck in my brain forever. Thanks a lot, Ron.

06 Sep 2016 16:48:15
Eds, what is your opinion on players smoking? I think smoking at all is a terrible habit but players doing it surely affects stamina and sends out the wrong message.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I smoked untipped Gitanes for more than 30 years before quitting, so personally I have no objection. Clubs much prefer that players don't smoke.}

06 Sep 2016 22:00:18
So ed002 is at least 30, assuming he smoked from birth.

06 Sep 2016 22:26:18
I observational skills lmred, a few more discoveries like this and we'll soon discover who the man/ woman behind the legend of Ed002 really is. *looks left and right deviously*.

06 Sep 2016 22:49:24
You bit Imred.

06 Sep 2016 14:33:30
Hi All:

Full-time reader; first time poster. Long story short, I just got hitched, which means my partner and I are planning a trip to Anfield as part of our honeymoon in December. The match that best fits us is the Stoke City one on Boxing Day.

In order to buy tickets, we paid the $ to become club members, but it still seems up in the air whether or not it will come through. We'd prefer to not go the Hospitality or Thomas Cooke route. Are there any other ways that people can recommend? Still not entirely positive about how to get ahold of transferred tickets. Sorry for any and all confusion.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

06 Sep 2016 15:59:08
Congrats on getting hitched man. Wish I could help with the ticket problem. But I have no idea how haha.

06 Sep 2016 16:49:17
Ed001, make sure you go to Alcázar, the moorish royal palace- very near the Cathedral. The grounds (garden) are amazing. If you do get a chance, head out to Isla Christina, about and 1 1/ 2 hours drive from Sevilla, it's really nice down there, and away from tourists. Having said that, its a place where spanish people go to chillout and laze around, so if you don't speak spanish, it may cause a few issues, but i'm sure you'd get by lol.

{Ed001's Note - I will have to take a look cheers.}

06 Sep 2016 16:51:26
Eds, just submitted a post, should be the for the thread started by Muscatred re Barcelona etc, not this one started by Lallana-Vida-Loca. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - no worries I got it anyway.}

06 Sep 2016 12:25:16
Hey Ed1, just as a reminder I'm in Barcelona this weekend. I imagine it's not practical but if you can get that way I'll buy you a beer.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I don't think I can get there mate, it is about 5/6 hours by train, plus a long bus ride from here to Seville before hand. I am literally out in the middle of nowhere a bit. One bus to Seville is all there is a day.}

06 Sep 2016 12:50:26
No worries Ed, knew it was a big ask, if I'm ever in southern Spain I'll get in touch.

{Ed001's Note - please do mate, would love to meet up sometime. I was hoping to get to Barca at some point, but I need to arrange it properly and sort out a room there for an over night stay, just going to wait until winter when it is cheaper. Good weather for your trip at the mo, it is like 50c here right now!}

06 Sep 2016 12:57:24
When are you back to Dubai mate?

{Ed001's Note - not for a long while mate, need to save up.}

06 Sep 2016 14:08:52
Not that I didn't believe you Ed but just looked up the weather out there and Christ! How do you cope in that?

{Ed001's Note - unfortunately not very well as there is no ac here. I am having to wring out my clothes on the hour as they are so soaked in sweat! The geckos seem to like it though.}

06 Sep 2016 14:44:38
Leopard geckos?

{Ed001's Note - no idea mate, they are cute little things though.}

06 Sep 2016 14:47:13
Beautiful place Seville and the area around - lucky Ed001. I do try and avoid the place in July/ August though, to describe it as 'hot' would be a serious understatement!

{Ed001's Note - my parents retired here about 8 years ago or so, but this is my first visit, I agree it is beautiful. The heat I thought would be fine as it was hotter in Dubai, but everywhere there had AC, virtually nowhere in this little village seems to. Still it is nice, the people are friendly, at least I think they are being friendly as I don't speak a word of Spanish.....}

06 Sep 2016 16:01:22
I almost studied in Segovia for a semester. Was a Spanish major but chickened out of going. I regret that one. Hope you enjoy Spain Edward the first.

06 Sep 2016 15:10:30
I feel your pain Ed anything over 25c in the valleys and I start flagging!

06 Sep 2016 15:55:29
My brother has a leopard gecko. Costs my folks a fortune to run his heat mat 24/ 7 though. Unfortunately, It's not 50 Celsius in the midlands! I do agree though. Very cute. That is until you feed them a cricket and watch them go from family pet to brutal predator in about 2.3seconds.

{Ed001's Note - the ones in this house are smaller than a cricket mate!}

06 Sep 2016 16:41:42
Cadiz way here. Get down to the coast, a few degrees cooler with an onshore breeze, except when the levante blows. Mind you its mad busy with spanish tourists in July and August.

Yeah, you find the andalucians have an accent all of there own. Even the other parts of Spain struggle to understand them.

Often used to do Liverpool to Seville airport, back in the days when ryanir flew that route.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know any Spanish anyway, well tiny bits like hello etc, no use here as they speak Andalus.}

06 Sep 2016 18:03:01
I used to have a leopard gecko called Gerrard haha.

06 Sep 2016 18:59:25
Usually Moorish Gecko's in Spain if I'm not mistaken.

06 Sep 2016 19:26:17
Chiclana-red - I was gutted when Ryanair cancelled that Liverpool - Seville route, have to get my fix via a flight into Madrid first nowadays followed by a train. Sod the football char, let's make this a travel site ;-)

07 Sep 2016 00:50:36
Ed, if you get the chance, try get away to see the Alhambra in Granada. incredible.

{Ed001's Note - I will try if I can. Not sure it is anywhere near me though. My geography is mainly limited to knowing what football team a place has, no idea where those places are though!}

07 Sep 2016 23:44:28
If I've read right you're near Sevilla at he moment, Granada should be about 2.5-3hrs drive away.

06 Sep 2016 10:52:43
Morning Ed001

just wondering what the situation is now with Sakho, is he going to get games? or is he now going to be frozen out

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - it depends on if we get injuries etc. I wouldn't expect him to get much gametime though otherwise.}

06 Sep 2016 11:39:05
Eds, Hearing he is allowed to train with the first team.
Brilliant player but if he is coming back to the first team what would that mean to Klopp after asking him to move out. I just don't get all this crap happening behind.
From FSG's point of of view, you just can't bench a £20 mill player to satisfy someone's ego.

{Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with ego. FSG are not involved, this is between the manager and his player.}

06 Sep 2016 12:51:23
Hopefully this has been Klopps way of giving him a kick up the pants.

Maybe he'll now knuckle down.

Its also a warning to the rest of the squad that if a fans favourite can be put in his place for not being 100% committed.
Good management. . I hope.

Good luck to the Reds on Saturday
Anfield will be rocking, Hopefully we will turn it into the fortrace it once was. Just found out yesterday that my 6 year olds friend has a birthday party on Saturday in which I have to take him. Yeah no problem I said to the misses, what time is it on. 5pm to 7pm she said. Come on who has parties at that time. You just couldn't make this stuff up. Gutted.

Rex I feel your pain mate I really do.

06 Sep 2016 10:02:28
Oh mate sorry to here that haha, i'd go for a sudden illness on the Friday, or can u use your crafting skills and change the date for next week.

06 Sep 2016 10:27:05
Man Flu is your only escape.

06 Sep 2016 13:07:22
Gutted for you, mate. I hope we get a victory at least so you can have good highlights on MOTD to look forward to.

06 Sep 2016 14:54:16
Easy fix here, Rex.

1. Load him in the car, all ready for the party.
2. Take him down the pub instead.
3. Watch Liverpool take Leicester to pieces.
4. Buy him a big toy to keep him quiet.

I'm not a parent myself, does it show?

06 Sep 2016 15:57:23
