It could be the cardboard litre of Spanish red talking but i sense from now till the end of the season we will lose 3 league games

Randy Watson

I agree we wont lose too many games, but we wont be winning many either, unless we get in some decent forwards in jan. Our backline has been superb this season.

Sounds like your wine glass is half empty, Randy

I was talking to Tony Silva today and he said he is coming back to Liverpool in January. He said he has learnt so much at Barnsley and is so happy to be coming back. I also heard Alex Inglethorpe raving about one of the Palace kids called Kaikai. The guy in the hi viz,

Posted a balotelli rumour yesterday. He will not be in man city squad on Sunday as finalising loan deal to us.

Party season is here.

Meanwhile, back on Earth...

Wouldnt want him, we have enough bad press with suarez, dont need him too

Ed's, hows the financial situ looking now, have FSG finished paying off our losses? I know you said in the past we have been paying out £50m a season on losses. Do we look to have an healthier summer in regards to income? Have we turned a corner. I'm not talking about transfers budgets.

Lee73

I hear they have been raiding the sofas at Melwood for loose change

With the money found there everton could get a record signing.

07 Dec 2012 20:18:43
Eds do we have any interest in Alvaro Morata as of late? Or is that just a recycled rumour

07 Dec 2012 19:56:27
Hi all,

Quick questions for the Eds,

I can see that we're being heavily linked with both Wallcot and Strurridge, but in your opinion, do you really think we'd go for both?

The reason I'm asking is that both players have expressed that they want to be played down the middle and I can't imagine either player would want to be second choice.

Thanks in advance!

Dex

07 Dec 2012 19:45:40
Ed is James McCarthy on our radar at all? I rate him very highly, not that that means owt. Cheers in advance.
JC

I'm sure we were meant to be looking at him around the time we got Henderson, perhaps it was an either or situation. Looks like a good player but I'm happy with hendo and shelvey, would personally like us to get a good number 10 in to compete with suso

SideShowBob {Ed002's Note - Several clubs have looked at McCarthy but the price quoted has always put them off.}

Eds, who do you think is looking more likely to sign for us at the minute in your opinion out of Walcott and Sturridge? And do you think at some stage they will both be wearing a red shirt maybe (not necessarily in the same transfer window), or do you think if we sign one the other will not be a possibility? I would really appreciate it if you could cover this for me with you opinion, thanks.

07 Dec 2012 18:23:07
Hi eds, I have been reading some of the stuff on here, and people are saying we should not get Huntelaar because he would push Suarez out wide and that we should get Sturridge instead... IMO if we were to get Huntelaar, I would actually stick Suarez in the center, but just behind, kind of the role Gerrard plays because Lui does like to drop back into little gaps so he can get recieve the ball anyhow, and with the front 3 rotating, whoever is in the striker position might swap with suarez every now and then? just a thought what do you think?

an sorry if this has been asked but what are the chances of us maybe getting both Sturridge and Huntelaar?
I would rather have Walcott over Sturridge but I agree with you in saying he is most probably going to sign a new contract :(

Ed02,
I'm very worried. With the team being delayed overnight in Italy they missed their scheduled arrival home at 1:00 AM this morning. By all accounts it was going to be a recovery day for the players and Brendan also said that they had the nutrition aspect covered also. But my concern is this. Sparky was due to arrive yesterday and with Pepe being delayed in Italy, he returned and his master was missing. No one to welcome him and no home to go to. Can you give us an update on his well being and let us know if he had to spend his night in a back alley bin picking on scraps left over from a Nando's box or worse. Please let us know..........Chi-Paul {Ed002's Note - Many of us have missed the occasional flight or two. Some will take the standard option of ignoring the Harlots and Hookers and some willl end up as pitiful examples of those not prepared to swallow. In the end it will figure itself out.}

07 Dec 2012 22:15:22
Does anyone else think that Ibe's build and the way he runs is a lot like Alexis Sanchez? Also well done to the U21s today. The trio of teixeira, pacheco, and adorjan looked like it could take any defence apart. Add the fox in the box Morgan and its obvious why they score so many goals.
Ngoo wasn't involved today so that surely means he is going to be involved against West Ham, unless he was injured.

Hounsred

Ngoo wasn't injured he was on the bench

What does it mean Ed's when someone posts that some one is a "person"? Is it a more polite way of calling them a C you next Tuesday?

Thanks,

okay so I'm new to twitter, what source do you guys believe is best for a liverpool fan to follow? and which one has the best or more reliable transfer rumors?

Another one dumbing down.

None and leave your hash tags at home ta.
You won't get better info then off Ed001 when he's kind enough to drop in and Ed002 who had his own unique way with words.

07 Dec 2012 21:00:50
where is everyone getting sturridge is greedy from , did he not play for bolton and score a few goals for them 8 goals in 12 apperances , he cant be that bad i would love a greedy striker with that goal rate for a mediocre team , mav be im missing something or that everyone else is jumping on the band wagon , or may be he is greedy at chelski because he wants to show the management that he can score goals

mickey b {Ed001's Note - I fail to see how scoring goals doesn't make him greedy? Perhaps you could explain that lack of logical thinking?}

Goals are goals tho ed001. If he can get that form for us I'm sure we will forgive him for being greedy.
I'm in two minds about him though, if he can't get in that Chelsea team then why would he be a success here?

MIKEY {Ed001's Note - I have no issue with that, but scoring them is normally a product of greed. When at Bolton, everything went through him, so he scored goals. This lad is so greedy off the pitch even City wouldn't match his demands, why would we?}

07 Dec 2012 21:00:22
N'aww. Poor Flanno. He's got a puncture on his front left wheel. Nightmare!

07 Dec 2012 20:25:45
Ed's simple question. I fail to understand this Sterling contract talk.. was it not stated by both parties he would wait til he's 18 to sign a new contract (professional contract) ? seems to me like he turns 18 tomorrow.. Maybe I've misread. {Ed001's Note - yep, there would be no point signing anything before then, any contract would be limited to 3 years in length until he turns 18.}

07 Dec 2012 20:36:38
The only signings well make this winter that have been mentioned in the media will be either Sturrigh or Walcott. The rest will be players not one has linked us with like the assadi purchase.

07 Dec 2012 20:31:34
Does everyone in football have such short memories that they can't remember his loan spell at Bolton? He scored 8 goals in 12 appearances, created a few and generally looked a threat. He hasn't been given a chance at Chelsea. Agreed he is unlikely to have the major impact that Suarez and Torres had but I think he'd certainly improve our squad. The lad can score and that's what we're missing.

07 Dec 2012 21:25:58
Mate I'm afraid buying Sturidge will coz big problems in drssing room. When youngsters don't pass at right time to suarez he mocks them despite being only 17 years what will happen with sturidge only god knows. Sturidge is not the player to back down when suarez will bark at him and that will lead big conflicts. If you see chelsea games whenever he plays or comes as sub you will see mata and hazard are not happy at all their expression says it all. Anyone who knows footy will tell you that Sturidge is not the player liverpool should go infact liverpool should stay far. Suarez has massive ego and sturidge has got even bigger ego compare to suarez

Agreed he is not exactly top of my list but he would still improve our squad.

MIKEY

07 Dec 2012 21:49:48
Mate stats are nothing in footy or have you forgotten players we bought who had fantastic stats in their respective clubs.

Downing before liverpool bought him he was aston villa player of the season and in top three asists in league behind nani.

Hendesrson before liverpool bought him he was sunderland player of the season

Andy carroll before liverpool bought him he was newcastle player of the season and in top three goal scorer in league.

Playing for liverpool is different thing. There is a reason why chelsea are happy to sell him. There are very few players who have succeded when roman has sold them only roben comes to my mind.

But suarez has the ability to back it up.
derryred

07 Dec 2012 22:14:42
Mocks!! Behave FFS, might have a go but mocks, rubbish mate of that's your reasoning for Sturridge not to sign then the whole of football is well and truly the rubbish creek with out a paddle. Its a tough and unforgiving sport, especially at the level these guys are at.
Carra is known for a little rant, six hundred and odd games later shows it ain't done him, his trophy cabinet or Liverpool in general any harm.
Henderson had a go at Suarez in the second half against Udinese, no big deal. Believe me if players were miked it'd be enough to make your hair curl.
Ed001 or 002, remember that documentary back in the day when they had the refs miked on the quiet(Ellery, Milford ) I think it was, pretty robust language used by the Arsenal players particularly Charlie Adams big brother Tony:). Don't think its quite that bad these days but colourful enough.
JC {Ed001's Note - before my time that one!}

07 Dec 2012 22:48:06
Early 90's I think it was a documentary like QED or Arena. I was about 13 or 14 at time. Ye they miked a couple of refs up without the teams knowin or the FA or anyone knowing bar the programme makers and the refs. They got into a little bit of bother but the Arsenal players were pretty robust work the English language to say thw least. Its only vague, someone might have memoir of any idea of it was done etc, interesting.

07 Dec 2012 20:05:29
For me Sturridge and or Walcott are the kind of players we need. Rodgers plays 4 3 3 and in my opinion Suarez has to be the central or false number 9 as its called these days. If we were to buy a Huntelaar type it would mean playing Suarez In one of wider positions and i not that keen on that idea, if we were to get Sturridge or Walcott or even both which is probably a long shot, we would have players that could play in the wide front positions and act as back up for Suarez when he's banned or injured and slot in to the central role.
What do you lot reckon?

Andy The Red

Mmm, and where would you put Sterling?

I dont really expect us to get both Sturridge and Walcott but if he did Sterling would have to fight for his place with say walcott or Sturridge, be up to the manager who he picked. But be healthy to have competiton up front doesnt seem to be do man united too much harm.

Mmm, on the bench

I see your point and do rate sterling but be good to add more quality and not rely on him too much though.

07 Dec 2012 19:58:02
I believe funds will depend on players leaving.
Joe Cole, 1.5m-3m
Stuart Downing, 5m-8m
Jordan Henderson 5m
I may be being a bit generous with their price tags but that's where some of the money will come from.
Possible 16m from sales if we are lucky and 6m from the failed Dempsey bid gives a total 22m transfer pot.

I can only see 2 1st team players leaving in Jan. Downing and Cole been most likely. Or maybe just one.
We have a very thin team and i can't see a load of people being signed in this window. IMO i could see 3 more players added to 1st team. More will be done in summer. This is just my opinion, i can see a winger, striker and maybe a defender coming in and your guess is as good as mine who they will be atm. I can see Rodgers buying some players who aren't on the normal radar again.

FowlerGod.

Hendo worth more than 5 million... He's only young and still developing - I would not sell Hendo

Cant see anyone buying them tbh.

07 Dec 2012 19:41:01
People need to stop goin on about Torres, we got the better deal, I mean 50 mil and how many has he scored for chelski? Just a shame we pissed it on average players bar suarez

Suarez is probably worth 50m now as well. So we are still quids in.

MIKEY

So basically we all got pissed on! lol

Just hope we don't become a selling club!

fergy at again moaning bout the number of pens city have had this year says if united had been awarded that many there would be a goverment inquiry the two faced bellend his team have been getting away with for years yet nothing said or done by the FA

Its how he operates

They happen to be playing them soon.
More mind tricks, hardly on the same level as a Jedi but enough to fool most of the brain dead people involved in football.

people moaning about sturridge going to us cuz he's greedy ? all the best striker to ever play the game were greedy ! Suarez dose his fair share of going to far when the maybe a better option inside but he takes on things cuz he's a striker and he wants to score GOALS ! i hope sturridge come at the right price n gets a run in the side playing in the middle we need more players to get there heads down shoulders over the ball n have a shot a little more often ! . I really like were we r going not blowing huge money se don't have and building a strong youth system bolds well for the next few years just hope the club give BR the backing and time he needs to build us back from the ground up . thanks guys mossmon

Why have we not signed Honda yet

Suarez is probably the most greedy player I've ever seen but we all love him, can't understand how the same people who praise Suarez slate sturrige for being greedy!

JJ

I think
It's because we already have Suarez that Sturridge would not fit in...

Look I know how good Sterling is & there are no sour grapes here. But Ibe can fill his boots & he his left foot is far better than Sterlings. I've seen him cutting in on the right wing and crossing accurately long passes with his left foot to the top of the penalty box. So stop worrying about Sterling rumours cause 1)he is expected to sign & 2) if he doesn't sign we have players that can replace him. Slodge

07 Dec 2012 18:12:49
Great post.

Keith

07 Dec 2012 19:28:06
Yes I've seen Ibe in the Swindon game and lot of venom in both his feet while Sterling produced weak shots especially against S'ton and Swansea when he turned and shot with his left!

Indy Kevin

Sterling s strengths are different -

1. A really good first touch - you watch his touch for a 17 year old, class! Essential when playing possession football.

2. And the obvious pace...

What happened with Fernando Torres?

He is now a laughing stock :(

I feel sorry for the guy

Will he ever come back to us, I think after everything he did for us we should forgive the bloke for wanting more than we can offer

Any chance of him ever returning eds? What actually happened?

Cheers

Everything he did!! The guy only gave us one good year then got injured and moped around alot. Glad he is failing as a player. deserves everything he gets. Can he say he deserved to win the medals he has won with the circus? hes a clown
cupidstunt.

I find it a bit weird that people say he was awful towards the end, last I saw him play for us he sunk chelski! Shame we never saw him play with Suarez, but it's in the past and we just need to move on

"He is now a laughing stock" and you want him back?

Singred

What happened to him? have you been living on a different planet for the past 2 years?

07 Dec 2012 18:09:35
He sunk Chelski as you say, as he wanted their owner to notice him, nothing else!

Keith

Keith you sound far too bitter, did u get him tattooed lad? End of the day he put in some magnificent performances for us, and I will not forget some of the goals he scored. Can u really blame him for leaving? Watching people like alonso and mascharano leave, it didn't look like we were going forward. Can u blame him for wanting to be challenging for trophies? Looks like he made the right desicion, ok we got to two finals last year but we are 2-3 years to were we should be, and he knew he wouldn't be top of his game for long.

07 Dec 2012 23:06:21
Keith might sound a little bitter you sound like a crazed obsessed jilted lover who would do pretty much anything to have him back. He was gash before he came, was gash for Spain and Chelsea. He just had an 18month blip were he performed to levels that far outweigh his ability. It can happen to sportsman blips but pin the upward curve instead of a downwards one. Michael Vaughan went to number one batsman in the world after scoring century after century in an Ashes series down under. Don't remember the year but it was the one were Simon Jones blitzed his knee. Buster Douglas had a blip for one fight. You look at Torres career and performance's on his career and you will find that besides the infamous 18 month blip period with us, it was and is still ordinary to say the least.
JC

His sinking of Chelsea was his one decent performance all season. He was woeful at the end of his Liverpool career. Gerrard made him look a better player than he is.

whats micheal owen talking about ,we played him to much when he was younger,&thats why hes suffering with injuries now, firstly if we had held him back he wouldve been complaining that he wasnt playing enough&probly moved on to adifferent team that would play him every week,so wind ur neck in owen (person)old red arse face only signed u to wind us up ,,anyway since he left us hes wanted to come back at every opportunity hes had,so sounds like sourer grapes to me,,the year he left ,his reason was to win trophies(we won champ league that year) he went to madrid won nothing ,,then moved to newcastle who hadnt won atrophy for over 50years,,dont think he got medals at urubbished cause didnt play enough games to get any,,just another player who followed the money,,,,ps goodluck with the 2games u play at stoke this season,,,,,,,, IRISH RED

Michael Owen is an person. Just ignore him.

He got plenty of rest at Madrid! Mercenary, played for cash end of

He might be getting a promotion to substitute soon.
derryred

In his defence he also says in the same interview that when Gerard Houllier rested him he moaned, saying 'I can rest when I'm 40'. He also says that he wouldn't change a thing as the best years of his career were spent at Liverpool. A little bit of slack required to Mr Owen I think.

Brian.

If Michael Owen was so bothered about playing too much then why did he force Robbie Fowler out who could've played when Owen needed a rest or vise versa.

BthekingB

I can't think of any strikers in the Owen mould (fast, want it in behind the forwards) that made great careers after 28/29 yo, Henry springs to mind but what has he really achieved post Gunners. I liked the MO that almost became a Teddy Sheringham in his last half term at Newcastle but even then the Ham Strings were shot.

I don't think starting at 18yo or starting at 22yo makes all that difference to strikers that rely on pace - they pull muscles and get slower as they get older, seems to be a fact of the game.

Torres for example.

Owen probley regrets leaving Liverpool.

Not really his fault, young, bad management and agent. Someone should have put an arm round him and said listen Mike do you really want to leave.Needed some guidence in his career, not money lead.

Lee73

Someone should have convinced him to sign a new contract, and told him he could still leave if he wanted to go, we could have got a lot more than 8 million

Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer was played at 17 and played a lot of games, he never seemed to lose his pace and instinct.

BthekingB

07 Dec 2012 15:26:24
Haha..you guys saying sterling can leave are crazy..liverpool must try their best to convince him to stay..you can keep saying we have other youngsters.but when united, city and chelsea are circling around..for this particular player..then you should know how they rate him.both parties have really been quiet because of this negative press, spreading crap around about what they don't know..time would really tell if he stays or goes

Nobody should be tried to convince to stay at Liverpool. If you don't want to stay then get lost. I don't care who you are or how good you are

07 Dec 2012 15:10:11
Eds, have you any further news on developments regarding Sturridge, Walcott, Ince? {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new today.}

07 Dec 2012 15:01:30
Borini is never going to be a top striker, anyone who thinks different is confused, BR could have used the money he spent in the Summer a lot more wisely, he blew 27m on Allen and Borini, that is crazy money on players that will never ever be top players never mind world class, the truth is they would never be more than squad players at best in more competitive teams.

If he signs Walcott, Ince and Sturridge, we will spend more money on players that are not quite good enough. When will a Liverpool manager learn to finally spend his money on players that actually can improve the team, they need to stop buying unproven players, inconsistent players, players that are plainly over valued in the market, and waste of 100k players like Joe Cole, Walcott and Sturridge will want something in that region most probably, and are they worth it?

Somehow I believe next year we will still be at square one, and fans will be saying the same thing about needing top class players to progress, while others will say the clubs is still in transition (how many years is that supposed to last for?), while others will be claiming we haven't the money to sign that sort of quality, which is rubbish on both counts, look at the money we have spent on players over the last two years alone. If it was spent well, we would not be in transition now, and we could have quality players instead clutch of plodders we lumbered ourselves with. On top of the 70m+ Kenny threw down the pan, BR spent 27m in the summer on nothing special signings and now there is the possibility of 25m this Xmas on more Average Joe's.

This paints a completely different complexion on the claims we don't spend money, even though net spend is low, large sums of money have still been invested on players, and apart for Suarez just about all that invested money has has been spent on players that will never live up to their price tags and will never made Liverpool competitive.

Sal

My God, when are people going to get off Borini's back?

He hasn't had time to even prove himself and he has fickle fans such as yourself saying he'll never cut it. How do you even know?!

His spatial awareness is brilliant, he's got a good shot on him, and if I remember rightly the time he WAS on the pitch he was being used more out on a wing position, which isn't his preferred position.

He's switched between 3 clubs in such a short space of time that he's going to need a while to adjust, so why don't you hold off on claiming he'll never be top class until we've seen more from him?

Oh, and a little bit of info for you - in Serie A last season, Borini's goal to minute ratio was only surpassed by Cavani and Ibrahimovic. The boy is really good, but he needs the backing of the fans, not people having a dig at him when he's not had the time to prove his worth.

I really never knew there was as many unsupportive supporters (oxymoron if ever there was one) supporting this club.

How much time did Torres need to prove himself, or indeed Suarez- Borini is not good enough and that's that- even if he stays for 3 years he will not get us the goals we want .

So, Sal. Who would you sign then?

If you spent a little less time slagging everyone off and a little more time watching and understanding football we'd all be better off.

~Fresh

JFT 96 It was not an attack on Borini, I'm just pointing out that was a low vaule signing like so many other players at the club. Borini is not worth 12m we aid for him, sometime in the future he may attain that value, but not likely, he is a 6m max player. Just like Carroll, Henderson, Downing, Allen, Joe Cole and others money has been unwisely invested, if you don't see it fine, but don't doubt my loyalty or affection for Liverpool FC because I say something you don't like.

I still say our club has wasted too much money, missed too many opportunities to get things right and as things stand, the club is not progressing, and will not progress if we sign Sturridge, Walcott and Ince. That will take our outlay on players to over 125m in two years, and if you add the fees of the other players who were signed before then, you will see we have assembled a squad for over 200m, a team that is going nowhere, its no better now than what it was two years ago, and it will be no better come next Summer, you will just have to look at our signings to know there is truth in this.

Sal

Fresh I suppose you know it all or think you do anyhow!

07 Dec 2012 16:48:40
You can minus the Torres and Babel money all you want. It was still spent making today figure circa 120mil.
JC

Sal,

What I don't understand is this incessant need by fans to bring up previous signings. Those signings were completed by a different set of staff who are now not at the club. Yes, I am in full agreement that there have been some bad transfers but this happens at EVERY club. Does anyone remember the transfers of Veron, Forlan etc by our illustrious NW neighbours?

My issue is your entirely pessimistic view on things - I really can't begin to comprehend how you can judge players on their worth when they've hardly played. Have you been viewing something the rest of us fans haven't? It seems you have some stratospheric insight that the rest of us are missing.

Your finality of opinion is what is annoying - 'we will NOT progress if we sign Sturridge', how do you know that exactly? Do you know how the dynamics will work within the team?

No offence, but judging by these posts, there doesn't seem to be much loyalty OR affection for Liverpool FC as there hasn't been one single positive in either of your posts. But each to their own, it's your opinion and that's completely fair enough, but I'm going to stick to my opinion that BR made a shrewd buy in Allen, he bought a good squad player in Assaidi and I also think Borini is going to show his true capabilities once he's fully fit.

JFT 96

JP

Ed02 (correct me if i'm wrong) said it was in the region of 8 million that was paid for borini not 12. he has also only had 11 games player. Suarez and torress had a few years more experience than borini when they moved to the premeirship. However if your going to compare his start to other players then i'll just mention the unfair stick lucas got when he first played for liverpool.
derryred {Ed002's Note - It was 13.3M euros I would have said. I imagine if you search on 13.3M you will find it.}

JP,

The same mistakes keep been made over and over again regardless of which staff are employed, from Hodgson to Kenny and now Rodgers, that makes all the bad signings relevant as a whole. If we get a new manager next year should we then ignore the dross that is already at the club, I won't.

As for Fergie and his bad signings, he has far from failed in transfers he had made great signings too, for every Veron or Forlan there is a Keane, Cantona, Vidic or Ronaldo. Its like been made watch endless repeats of Eastenders with us though, they get worse with every viewing. In three managers we have signed 12 or so players and managed in that time to find one player in Suarez that proved his worth, that's some run of bad decisions in transfers, and speaks volumes doesn't it. You say players haven't been given time, we said the same of Carroll, Henderson and Downing last year, have any of them improved the team? The same will be asked of Allen and Borini, will they have improved the team? Answer that to yourself honestly.

Imagine if someone like Moyes had been give the sort of cash to that our lot have had, Everton would be absolutely lording it over us now.

And if you believe Strurridge will be success, fair play to you because I can't see his worth to the team, he is selfish, shoots on sight, ignores players in better positions player. Sturridge will score goals, but the team will lose goals from others positions. I can see Suarez's goal tally falling drastically with Sturridge in the team. That's why I believe he is of no real value and will prove just a waste of more resources.

You call it negative, but I see valid criticisms, and to me that is not necessarily negative, and most certainly not a mark against my support of this great club.

Sal {Ed001's Note - what valid criticisms? This is just whining about the past and not giving a chance to see if it has changed. Typical of the modern day supporter, who expects everything now, some things take time to change. If Moyes is your idea of a great manager, then you need help. He is great at what he does, but being a manager on a shoestring is totally different from managing when you have a big budget and huge expectations. Moyes certainly struggles with them, which is why Everton slump every time they rise. When nothing is expected of him, Everton do well. That tells you all you should need to know.}

Sal what would you pay for the brightest rising attacking talent in italy? 11 1/2 mill sounds like a fair deal to me.

KUMBER

It was 10.8 million pounds and the fact that you're totally eluding Borini when he has only played once as CF is ridiculous. Leave the guy alone, let him rest up and let him play his game.

BthekingB

There's like 8 posts debating the merit of Borini - the jury's out and we all get that. He might be anything.

But the second paragraph of Sal's post suggests Joe Allen may never be world class - sorry mate, he almost is already. Forget the pass stats and the "he only passes sideways debate" and watch the trust that players put in him week in week out. Hes an outball when he's marked, he breaks up play as well as a Masch or Lucas and he has an eye for a killer pass. In that signing we have a masterstroke and I think we should acknowledge it - after all Fergie and Kenny put similar money into Henderson and Jones the summer before last - which do you think is the best out of the three?

The lads 21 for gods sake wen torres or suarez came they were nearly complete players thats why the cost 20 mill.borini only 10 mill and hes already better than carroll

Sorry mate but I am not having
JOE ALLEN and making killer passes in
the same sentence, when was his last

enough to play KILLER passes he's a
CRAB,the new BUTCH WILKINS.......

auntie annie.......

I can't believe some of our supporters! I fully agree with JP. Give the guy a chance!

I haven't seen much of Ince, but so far this season Walcott has been Arsenal's best player by far. Very consistent and season by season continually improving. And having all of these soon to be English stars will only help us in the long run, when you have England starters you get treated specially, just look at Utd. Hate to say it but it's the truth. So it wouldn't really be a waste? I think Sturridge, Walcott, and Suarez up front would present a great attacking threat because they all have played wide and can interchange.
And the whole Borini thing, he hasn't played since the beginning of the season when our whole team was playing like rubbish getting used to a new system. I remember both Agger and Skrtel playing extremely poorly at the beginning but they're both pure class now.
And both Sturridge and Walcott have been linked with big clubs so if we pull off both of those signings it wouldn't look to bad for showing our intent. {Ed001's Note - if you had watched Arsenal play this season, you would realise how ridiculous that statement is about Walcott. Ask any Arsenal fan, the only thing consistent about him is his inconsistency!}

Borini's movement is already better than Ian Rush's when he first arrived at Anfield many years ago.
Rush had to develop his game and touch for quite a while before he established himself into the 1st team, he then went and scored 346 goals in 660 appearances.
If anyone wants to argue with me about my comments in regards to the movement of Borini then remember this... i'm old enough to list Ian Rush as my greatest ever LFC player, studied him for years and was lucky enough to see him play. For myself to give Borini that sort of appraisal isn't done flippantly!
As a striker movement is the hardest thing to develop or learn, it's very much something that you either have or you don't. He definitely already has this and also has a work rate that is very similar to Rush's. if he settles and develops his goal tally over the next couple of years many of you that criticise him will probably be lauding him in the same way you do with Lucas these days despite the fact he was completely abused on here too....

Oh Ray Wilkins who played for Man U, A.C. Milan, Rangers and Chelsea to go with his plethora of England caps. Well or seems that ol Ray didn't do so bad with his playing style which was playing quality football inn comparison to most English players in the eighties bar thw two Merseyside clubs. He knew that keeping the ball opened up loads of things like the other team being unable to score, tiring them out and playing a good possession based game. It wasn't rocket science for him our his team mates that it was much better then being on the receiving end and breathin out of his asse all the time.
Allen is a quality performer, when he does give out away people have to do a double take to make sure they ain't seeing things. OK bit of rubbish their but I'm sure you get my drift. One of his better games against City were after the game Yaya Toure remarked on an interview on TV straight after the game out Ed001 his hardest game he's been involved in since he played inn England. He was dizzy from chasing shadows most of the match.

people just imagine Walcott's pace linked up with Suarez's creativity!

Reina would finally have a fast forward to offload to like he used to do with Babel and young Torres

I just have to say our academy is amazing just watched the u21's face off against crystal palace 4-1 was the final score great goals from Yesil, Flanagan, Pacheco and Morgan. Great game and a great sign for the future they've been scoring for fun and remain unbeaten. Watching them just brings a smile to my face.

Ferguson is now complaining that his team's neighbours (the ones that actually play in the City of manchester) get more penalties than his lot. Can anyone tell what a penalty is as I have forgotten what they are!

If you go down the road to old trafford you will see the team in red get one nearly every game they play

Anyone else noticed a few times when sterling has been fouled he kicks his legs at the player who fouled him? It really winds me up! Ronaldo and Rooney used to always do it. It's pathetic and I hope Rodgers gives him a good clip around the ear! Still think he's gonna be quality but has a long road ahead of him

To be fair to him i've seen Gerrard do that more than sterling this season

07 Dec 2012 17:00:04
You know what sounds really sounds me up. People complaining about the most mundane and nonsensical things, oh and moaning for the sake of it and being petty over BS.
JC

JC, it's an opinion. When he gets sent off for it and costs us a game, maybe you'll realise how stupid it is and has no place in football. Hate seeing little brats throwing tantrums!

And when you take that fighting spirit out of him you'll realise you made him impotent.

The two players you mentioned are world class - don't you see the connection?

Rooney and ronaldo are hated due to behaving like sulking kids, I don't get how kicking out makes them hungry. Just makes them look stupid

So when he costs us somethin big it'll all be ok cos hrs got that fighting spirit? Beckham against Argentina, Rooney vs Portugal. Arsenal 4-0 up against Newcastle get a player sent off..... Can u see the connection?

Got through chuffed.Very good 1st half but yet again shouldve put it to bed when so obviously in command. Its like we can only play 45 mins or in patches as 2nd half was stressfull.Think Sahin injury was blessing in disguise.Ok B.R probably wanted to rest Shelvey but he makes a difference.Young guns in middle did ok without Stevie, hope he himself saw that! Think Suso in line up where he can play2in the hole",can be tremendous player in future.Think some on here should lay off Sterling, hes only 17 and gona be quality.First time ever i think-Strachan made sense-Hendo (who ive criticised as much as anyone) Aint really got the technical ability to play keep ball in midfield. But can use his asset of energy and fitness to run beyond opposition from deep.Providing edge of box option. With Shelvey spraying ball around,Allen breaking up play, and Lucas holding behind them, but infront of back 4 in future. Take Note Stevie! No give me walk in anymore. However to play Hendo elsewhere doesnt suit him or us,and if we are going to ask a holding role off him, frankly got others who do it better. So let him bomb on. p.s.Sickve hanging on in games,See games off Reds!

07 Dec 2012 13:52:51
Look were a young side who couldve scored a couple more. Why not just enjoy the victory instead of trying to pick holes that really are not their on that performance. We won the group as well yet you still moan. Even the very worse teams usually have some period of dominance. Udinese aren't the worst and ad expected they fought back a bit. I thought the midfield was class last night, Henderson will get the plaudits ands rightly so, confidence is definitely building in the lad, I really do believe we'll have one of the best box to box midfielder's pin the game on a few years. His engine would be wasted ad a holding midfielder/defensive player. Can't believe the stick Allen got for yesterday, thought he was tremendous. I like the fact he's a super footballer but he's not afraid to mix it with anyone. Think people should look for the positives when we win in a country were its notoriously hard to win. Could go on but I'm a bit busy at mo. YNWA
JC

07 Dec 2012 16:44:49
Think your totally misguided I'd you think Henderson ain't technical any of enough technical ability to play a fluid pass and move game. Top be honest i'd say that technique wise he's right up their. Its just, or a big problem in the past was besides being stick out wide was his confidence. That seems to be turning round now and he's showing what he can do. Having as you rightly pointed out a great engine can only benefit himself but more importantly is as a club when one minute he's taking a shot at goal the next a last ditch tackle. ( A bit of exaggerated, just gettin point across). Anyhow can see him being a real asset for us for years to come. He was willing to stay and fight for his spot and seems to have a great attitude.
JC

Just a thought on the people that complain about us not being completely on top of the game for 90 minutes; you do realize that there is another team of professional footballers playing against us, right? Udinese is not a bad team, whilst not as good as last year when they finished 3rd, they are capable of adjusting tactics and pulling together more effort when they are chasing the game. Besides, LFC are progressing, and it's not going to be instant success. The team is getting better and better as the season moves on.

07 Dec 2012 13:04:27
A minority of our fans on here are clueless and disrespectful - the amount of times I've read how Borini is a waste of money is ridiculous and how Sturridge is average.
Borini before he was injured proved to be an intelligent striker making all the right runs and creating space, goals looked like they would come his way.
Sturridge has a decent scoring record and can play along the front 3, he's confident (sometimes selfish) but at least he shows willing to get a shot away not to mention available compared to half our naive fans' selections!
Don't be so quick to write players off look at Lucas!
Obviously I am aware most of the fans back the manager, team and see where we're going
RobInRed

Borini was not good enough. We all said it and he never will be good enough. Sturridge I'd te same.

I actually like Borini and i think he is really a different kind of striker than what we have right now. not a skillful player, but an intelligent player.

Kaizer

The Italy manager clearly saw different taking him to the euro's im sure he would have other options than Borini?
I think if given games when he's fully fit not only will he add a few goals but create space for luis to bag more!

Well done to the u21's too
RobInRed

The lads only played a few games ffs, give him a chance. Who are these people who expect a player just to jump straight into a team and start scoring every game. This is real football not a game on your Xbox!! persons.

Well said mate, good post.

all this talk of sterling ,will he wont he sign ,this is akid achild just turning 18 & has lots of potential, but if hes stalling on anew contract, lets face it ,its because of his agent ,but if he wants to go,let him get as much as possable for him & move on ,because what ive seen so far this season we have a abundence of young players more than capable of steping up to replace him (ie.ibe)so the future looks really good ,weve areally good manager who along with the young players is still learning & will only get better ,so itll not happen this season but be patiencent next season we,ll be areal force ,,,,,keep the faith IRISH RED

Wish people would stop slating sturridge. if he turns out to be brilliant we'll have the halfwits saying 'always knew he'd be great, bargain £15m' get behind the team regardless of who.is or isn't signed!

We could buy a top quality player for that price.

Mate
Wakey wakey.
£15m is nothing for proven players at the top of their game unless they are at the end of thier contract. Swansea want £30m for Michu.

Lewandowski, damioa, llorente, huntellar all below that price.

Lewandowski and damiao below 15 mil? LOOOL

Llorente is a but overated and huntekaar is nearky 30

Just have faith in BR ffs

More importantly, would any of those 4 come to us?
Please be realistic ppl!
Not a huge Sturridge fan myself, but may be the best available than will think about coming to us at the minute?

07 Dec 2012 12:35:21
Walcott as i mentioned is #1 target for Liverpool in January..

If we are unsucessfull with Walcott, Sturridge will be our back up option with all Chelsea needing is a yes from Liverpool as Sturridge is keen to get the ball rolling.

I wont delve into the prices too much, but i believe Chelsea may want £15m which Liverpool have baulked at.

Again, it maybe stating the obvious as such, but thats the info im getting.

People stating both will join in Jan which quite francly, WONT happen. One or the other.

This may be old news but Theo Walcott is not in Arsenal's 2013 calendar which means he is definitely moving. Huntelaar deal is 100% not happening due to wage demands.

Red Man Walking

07 Dec 2012 12:40:18
I personally wouldnt be suprised to see Huntelaar move to Arsenal.. I dont think its down to wages as such, im led to believe he wants certain guarentees which i believe Liverpool cant fulfill.

Those are the two players I would like.

Hiya eds...

I know a lot gets said and people all have their own opinion but do you think the owners and Brandon should stop looking for mega maybes and just start filling the gaps now where floating around 12 in the league and have a very talented squad but lack the experience in some of the younger heads do you think its about time we brought prem proven players who can score and have proven they can score and (a lot of people will hate me for saying this) but a keeper who can save a ball id love to see a striker *like* huntalar or even rooney come and do the job for us luis has and will be a star but he cant do it all by himself

Who's Brandon?

Isn't he the lead singer of The Killers?

Where has Pacheco said it's his last game?
Any Links to prove it?

Pacheco has played really well today ( U21s ) . Wonder if he could step in for Suarez this weekend . Think he tries to hard in the first team and sometimes things he tries don't come off but still has plenty to offer . If this is his last game for whatever reason Good luck too him though .

It's the last U21 match until January.

Hi eds, Pacheco has tweeted a couple of talks hinting that he's off. Any idea if he will leave in Jan and possible destinations? Any idea why's he not been given a chance or made it with us? I've thought he's always done well when playing in his favoured position. {Ed002's Note - Why not Tweet him and ask?}

07 Dec 2012 11:01:00
What does everybody make of Sterling saying he has not recieved a contract offer? Especially after Rodgers publically came out and said he'd be foolish not to sign?
He said that in neither of the meetings with Ian Ayre he was not offered anything.
I apologize if this has been done to death, nut when i looked at the search function you have imagine how many results popped up with keywords "Sterling contract".
I don't know what the club are playing at,i can't seem to figure out their angle,Surely this is just unsettling the player?
Could the Ed's shed any light on this for me?
Cheers WelshBoyDave {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that discussions have happened and when they are concluded I would expect an offer to be made. I would not worry too much about it.}

Sick to the back teeth of seeing comments like 'BR is an average manager after average players. We need to be going after players like Falcao, Hulk, Benzema etc'
They won't come to us as we aren't in Champs league and... we don't have the money! We do not have an person billionaire owner (who will make club suffer during FIFA fair play rules) FSG have brought in good sponsorship deals and aren't going to cripple us with debt.
Also BR did not leave us hanging with 2 strikers, he was promised that there would be a replacement for Carroll, Ian Ayre (not owners) balls up trying to be clever. SUPPORT the team, don't condemn it.

Zenit have not long payed mega millions for hulk and are also paying him a decent wage and yet he's not happy!! Do you seriously want to see this type of player at Liverpool. Perhaps you would like see Torres,Hulk and Tevez as our front 3. Bankrupting the club turning in dismal performances and sulking while there doing it. No Thanks were on the right track in everything were doing.
kidmillions

Totally agree.
kidmillions

07 Dec 2012 11:13:08
I agree we have no chance in getting them players and think br is going to do well but there has to be better options than sturridge. He isnt going to improve our starting 11 so it would be a waste of 15m

Stop blaming Ian ayre it was not his vault you person. It was the fact the owners would not spend 1 mil extra. And stop being a moany little child and crying when people complain. They can do what they want plus with the results Brendan Rodgers has had you can't say he has been great. But I will be giving him to the end of the season to see if we have improved at all compared to last season under kenny. Antrim Red

No we do have to go after better players. We are complaining about how our signings have been poor and Sturridge would be no different. If we are looking for a striker then we should be targeting damioa or lewandowski. Huntellar would be a good short term solution. If we are looking for a winger then we should be looking at munian susaeta etc. Walcott would also be good but his wage demands would be crazy. A traditional number 10 that would improve us could be isco or eriksen.

Let's look at the prices of these players:
Lewandowski 12-18
Eriksen 15-23m
Isco 10-16m
Damioa 15-25m
Walcott 7-14m
Munian 14-20m
Susaeta 7-13m

There are just a few examples. If they reject us then there are other great players out there that we could then target.

Im sure BR is delighted your going to be so patient and give him till the end of the season to judge him.. CLOWN

Im sure he will be. But at least i have eyes unlike you :) Antrim Red

Antrim Red your wrong! simply that.Fsg and Ayre DID fook up and left Brendan out to dry-Using the latest insult on here-you"person"

So how am I wrong you person. You just admited that they fooked up that was my point u tool. Go back to school mate. Antrim Red

How do any of you know who was at fault fo the summer transfers, only the owners, Arye and BR know this. How can anyone be sure that it wasn't the likes of Dempsey playing LFC and THFC off against each other for the best deal and LFC backed down not willing to pay over the odds on transfer and wages.

07 Dec 2012 09:20:16
Joe Allen's Role:

Joe's role is not the defensive midfielder he has been having to do recently. He is a player who creates space in the centre midfield and moves the ball on. Have you noticed, when Lucas has the ball Allen makes space so he can pass it through the other team's midfield. That's very important in an attacking stance. He may not score 10 goals a season but he sure as hell will be important in attacking build-up. Allen's movement is truly great and if you actually watch his next game with this in mind, you'll understand what I am saying.

BthekingB

I lost count of the number of times he intercepted the ball last night , his tackling was so precise , I know he took a booking eventually .

One day soon he will be appreciated for the amount of possession he wins for our team , also , he is constantly available for anyone in trouble .

A fine player .

A very over rated player that doesn't really influence the game enough. Needs to be much braver on the ball and grow a pair. That's what the players think of him.

I usually try not to reply to personic comments but "Needs to be much braver on the ball and grow a pair". Are you serious? The one thing you cannot accuse Joe Allen of is not having balls. The little guy is like a fighting terrier, I have never seen him bottle it.

Grow a pair as in don't always look for an easy ball. If there is space dont be afraid to travel on the ball as the modern game is becoming more about this.

So basically, you don't know what 'grow a pair' actually means?

You should grow a pair of brain cells mate.

Joe Allen is class & is going to get better unlike a lot of British players he understands it is a game of association & continuity & not purely individualistic, along with Lucas he will be part of midfield for years,& can we have James McCarthy as well? That would be a boss midfield!
Paisley's genius

Just wanted to start a little debate to see what everyone else thought really. There's no right answer so here goes......

It is the general consensus that
1) Liverpool need investment and
2) Liverpool have some VERY good young talent coming through the ranks.

Now I think we need a "little" investment but nothing drastic. Because we have such promising youngsters, i would prefer us to allow them to flourish in the first team rather than have them rot in the reserves not getting their chance. This is where i think BR has been at his best. He's identified the top youngsters and has given them game time in the first team, both in the Europa and the Premiership.

Now if we do go out and buy players in january and the summer, what will happen to all of our youngsters? Their chances of getting game time will deminish and young players need game time to develop...SIMPLE

Can you imagine if Rafa was in charge of Barca instead of Pep Guardiola a few years ago?? Rafa was pretty poor at bringing youngsters through, although i do rate him as a manager, but he probably would have gone out and bought players instead of allowing all their taleted players to flourish like Guardiola did way back at the start of his tenure as manager in 2008.
-- Now Rafa did get the ball rolling with the academy and thankyou to him, Frank McFarlain, Pep Segura and Rodolfo Borell for all their hard work - it is starting to pay off! --

We at Liverpool have a similar opportunity coming our way that Barca had 5/6 years ago. Youngsters are coming through our youth system which have genuine real talent. We need to nurture them properly, with the right kind of football and proper first team game experience. If we go out and buy 4 or 5 senior players, then where will youth get their chance? I for one am happy to see our so called "thin squad" because this way our youngster are turning into proper professionals. Over the next few years we should see all these 16-19 year olds becoming household names, just like Sterling has done, not to mention Suso, Shelvey, Kelly, Wisdom, Robbo & Flanno.

In a few years, we could really have a team largely built from our Academy, with a couple of bought in players where we lack quality.
Think what Barcelona (and Spain for that matter) have done over the last few years, with players who have all played together for years in the youth teams, with the same football philosophy and the same management stucture moving up to the first team together.

BR is making the necessary changes now for our future, so we need to stay patient. Who knows, in a few years time Rudolfo Borell could take over from BR and we could see the same sort of flourishing team that Barcelona produced. The "Boot Room" would be well and truely back at Liverpool.

Looking forward to reading everyone's thoughts!

Mike in leeds

We have yougsters which is good...
but we need money to keep them at club..
bottom line...we need money desperatly...
loyalty was over wen gerrard last one the CL...

Good post (original poster).

My opinion on this is that we probably need three players to enhance/although for squad rotation (based upon when everyone is fit).

A DM (that would be second choice if Lucas fit/rotated).
a Striker (no need to explain).
A wide/attacking player preferably who could play either side.

I think we currently have a lot of central attacking midfielders in the squad currently and need to move a few on/replace with the above players.

Based on current squad; my preference would be to sell Cole (if possible) and Downing this window.

Loan Flanagan out as RB looks covered with Johnson and Wisdom. Maybe Coady or some of the U21 squad that could do with experience.

Immediately i would like 1 top player to play in the front 3, then another perhaps but i'm not too worried.Buying expensive players as a backup rather than playing youth has put us in a poor financial situation, i'd rather see coady for example given a go rather than buy a backup.

Well done to the lads for qualifying last night. Even tho every match from now will be a toughie it looks like all the teams that finish second are better than the seeded teams. We could draw Ath Madrid, Napoli, Inter, Leverkusen, Monchengladbach or Stuttgart. I have a sneaky feeling that we will draw Levante

Because of the difficulty of our group and the fact that we were always going to play our squad players (with a very thin squad!), I confess that I didn't think we would get to the knockout stages. BR has done magnificently under the circumstances, not only to qualify but also to sneak to the top of our table. Will this shut up the BR haters? Probably not, but it might make them think twice when slagging him off. Not an easy achievement. Well done to everyone!

Bit fed up with some of the stick Joe Allen gets - the moaners on this site need to open their eyes and watch the game. BR wants us to play from the back - he pushes the full backs way up the pitch which allows our centre halves to spread wide aswell - this leaves some space in the middle of the pitch for Allen to pick the ball from Pepe or one of the centre halves - the important thing is to pick the ball up there you need some courage and technique - if your first touch is bad and you give it away you have little or no cover. Allen is calm, neat and tidy, can pick the ball up, turn and move it on to the full backs or other midfielders - if he cant go forwards he keeps it, shifts back to the centre halves and finds more space - it may not be sensational to watch but you need some steel to always want the ball in that area. Plus he's quite a tough lad for his size - wasn't bullied by Fellaini earlier this season. Sure he has more to offer but for now let him enjoy and improve being a Liverpool player.

For £15m I expect alot more from Joe Allen.

Thats not the problem..he was bought to go bomb forward and provide that killer pass to suare or striker..
right now..suarez is coming deep almost half way line...getting the ball and running forward..al alone...
if he looks sideways..he sees..downing and shelvey..he runs all alone again...
and he doesnt see any forward or player besides him to pass..he does his tricks and tries to score...sometime he fails, sometime he succeed..
he is crying for a player like mata, carzola, silva..who can recieve the ball from lucas..and move forward...
I ll go with honda...
allen was bough to fill this gap..and unfortuantly noting has happened...

He was not bought to bomb forward at all, he was bought to control the tempo of the game and create chances from the midfield. He certainly does not bomb forward
FowlerisGod

I love the guy. He's good as cover for dm and in the games he started higher up he looks great. Holding the ball and keeping it in the team. When he's lockt in by two defenders he passes and moves thrue, so once others learn his game he will be reciving it back, at wich point he'll be past their mids bombing forward at cb's, where our No.7 and wingers will await his balls!

The Rob.

To he was'nt bought for that role at all, because he never played that way for swansea. what makes you think that you know what role brendan bought him for

Joe Allen is a very good midfielder. Not yet world class but will be in a couple of years. He has done well to fill in for lucas, n playing in his original position will only raise his performances. 15 million may be a bit steep, but in a couple of years, he will have paid us back in gold with his performances.

Cant believe things..he create pass from midfield?...maintains tempo??
you know why we never hated lucas as much as henderson, allen downing or others when he was awful in the begining?
he was bought at 5 mill with a very low wage and to cover mascherano and alonso...
wen a person is bought with massive money and from the same league...you should show result immediatly..
if he was with chelsea or UTD..they would have shipped him by now..
15mill + 3 mill signing on fee is a massive price...

Are you joking? Never hated Lucas as much as Henderson. Lucas was reviled mate, he got a disproportionate amount of rubbish a young guy in a foreign country should ever have to put up with. Luckily he's made of stern stuffe but I reckon the fans have been gentle in comparison. JC

With you jc Lucas was slaughtered every game! & most of us were guilty the reason we love him now as well as how well he plays is his character, get off joe allens back he is a good player who is still settling he is going to get even better! & here is a thought try backing the lad instead of slagging him eh? Last time I looked he was a Liverpool player...

the way i see it. is if sterling dont want to stay then let him go. the club is bigger than him. there is no point in bowing down to any players anymore. he will get big money in time but needs to show that he is worth it. suso showed that he wanted to stay by signing a contract without fuss. i know alot of this is the press and hopefully sterling will sign.

stu

The club is no longer bigger...dont be stuppid...
its this attitude we lost our key players...
every club real, barca, man utd, all keeps their players happy...and thats the moral...replacing a settled player is reall difficult...
what you think if messi wants a pay rise...will barca leave him? or pay him??
actually its our fault...we made him a star..and now he showing his attitude...

And suso...he will stay and be matured and then can esily move to barca or real...

I think Suso will be a far more important player for us in a few years time rather then Sterling and thankfully Suso has committed long term.

What do you all think.

Hi Eds,

13th Jan, 2013: We play United at their ground. Can we expect atleast one genuine reinforcement before that? Not the likes of Ince though (if we do get him). Someone that can straightaway add to our attack, not some kid.

Cheers

Gogol {Ed002's Note - The timing of transfers is not something that we can reasonably predict.}

I think we will sign Christian eriksen before that game. Just putting it out there.

What's up with that Udinese crowd.
Did they get their days mixed up.
A bit embarassing it was.

A bit of pot calling the kettle, have you been to anfield lately

Think he was having ago at the sparse crowd
FowlerisGod

Same with most clubs in Italy atm, old big crumbling stadiums that are half empty. Italian football on a real low. {Ed001's Note - fans get fed up when they find out that most of the games they have seen were actually fixed. If they wanted to watch people fake it, they would be going to watch wrestling not footie. Italian footie will always be on a low until they sort out the corruption, but that won't happen while Platini is around to protect it.}

Ed001 would you like to see kendo Nagasaki get platini in a death grip? I would
Paisley's genius {Ed001's Note - hahaha that I would pay to see.....}

If we get Sturridge, Walcott and Ince, I would be happym
Personally I would not mind if Downing, Carroll and
Sterling left, because its better to have 'goalscores'

January/summer:
Ins: Walcott 7 million
Eriksen 18 million
Huntellar 7 million

Outs: carrol 17 million
Downing 6 million
Henderson 10 million plus offer comes
Spearing 2 million
Cole free
Carra retire

Would just like to say that it was a good performance tonight on a very bad pitch , well done Liverpool and I'm glad Henderson scored the winner, he deserved it

We played like a championship team and nearly lost out in last minute and they had 10 men , i think we are desperate to make the young lads seem better than they are look at suso how many chances has he missed i am all for being positive but we are still in it and with more experieced players signing soon we will rise again.

Championship teams don't have 65% possession and win 1-0 away in Italy playing youngsters

"We played like a championship team" What a load of tosh! We won 1-0 away to an Italian team, could and should of been more. Finished top of the group. And all you can come out with is some negative jibe aimed at the team. If this was in the champions league this would be a seen as a job well done...which it was. YNWA

Danny.

Study some Italian football. 1-0 is a great result.

Hi Eds great work with keeping us up to date and in check thanks question what is all speculation with Xabi Alonso coming back to LFC any truth? Would love to see him back and show/teach our middle how to control the engine room! Also what are the chances to get Theo Wallcott? Could he be competition for RS? {Ed002's Note - Both issues have been dealt with at length - please use the search function.}

Hi eds,
How are the Europa league seated and non seated team groupings created? I have noticed some excellent teams in that non seated group
Thanks in advance
Jase

P.s. well done on the qualification redmen! {Ed001's Note - it is down to past European record over a number of years.}

The 12 Europa League group winners and the 4 best Champions league 'losers' are seeded. The 12 Europa League group runners up and the 4 worst Champions league 'losers' are not seeded.

At this point, it has nothing to do with previous years.

Of the 16 possibles we cannot play Spurs, Newcastle (same FA) or Anzhi (same qualifying group) in the last 32. However from the last 16 onwards it's a random draw.

The draw is on Dec 20th for the last 32 and also for the last 16. These are the potential last 32 opponents:
Atlético Madrid
Borussia Mönchengladbach
Stuttgart
Napoli
Basel
Inter Milan
Sparta Prague
Bayer Leverkusen
Levante
Zenit
BATE
Dynamo Kiev
Ajax.

Their doesn't appear to be any 'easy' draws, preference would be Sparta Prague or Leverkusen.

right i know im going to get slated here and everyone is welcome to their own opinion- as i am, all of us fans have been going on about sterling for 2 years now me included, yes he is a massive talent yes he will be great in the future, but has he been that great this season, hes been good dont get me wrong and the youngsters have put new optimism into our recent demise, but has he the the impact of fowler, owen, redknapp, mcmanaman= no and because were hoping for the next big thing we are bigging him up, let us let him relax sign an appropriate contract and then lets see if he can acheieve half of what these players did- though not leave for madrid in 18 months- if he is good enough

Mate he's 17 and he's our best winger (although enrique has stepped up recently) he's set up goals, scored 1 and was unlucky not to get another against spurs

He just needs a rest and the media has probably unsettled him a bit

he is certainly the most exciting talent Liverpool and England have had in a long time, But i do agree that we all shouldnt let his head et any bigger and that he still has a lot to prove,

Shak Attack

Susos increasingly looking like Liverpool's next big thing, never-mind Sterling !! Beardsley's Boot's

I know he is 17, and when we have another striker to pass 2 he will have more options, but every time he gets byline he passes to noone, cos noone there, remember james milner 17 scoring 4 fun at leeds, running past players for fun- just saying

Imo suso will turn out to be the better player. Superb technique, but needs to work on his physique.
Indian Buzzer

You think Stirling and Suso are good, wait until Teixera and Ibe get into the first team

This time tomorrow he will be 18! Let's see how things develop from there. Hopefully he will see sense, stay and sign but if he doesn't that will eventually be his loss.
DM2012

This time tomorrow he will be 18 and (supposedly) an adult. Hopefully he will sign a new contract with Liverpool but if he doesn't he can leave. Personally I would put him back with the Reserves for the rest of the season and if he still wants to go let him. We should be giving chances to those talented youngsters who have a great DESIRE to play for Liverpool and not line their pockets before they have really earned it. Having said that he needs the money with three children to support.

I think Suso is more important than Sterling as we have Ibe and Sinclair.
Can someone describe how well does Teixeira play as he is the only one I haven't seen play?

Indy Kevin

Teixeira is an attacking or an advanced midfielder who whilst in Portugal was likened to Deco.

in my own analysis of what i've seen: he is like suso but more mobile (as in he'll play on the LWF but he'll run to the other side or he'll make runs in behind the CB's and he defends) and less reliant on cross field passes, likes a simple short pass but can pick out a decent through ball and i think he is a bit faster and stronger but he is like a year older so.

moving on the Yesil, when he came on i saw he immediately got in between the two CB's, you could sense that he is a proper "back to the goal" striker.

I slam the manager when we get bad results so I'll give him his due credit tonight for what was a very good result.

Well done Bren.

M.Aurelius

How anyone can slam BR is beyond me he's been doing a fine job with the thin squad he has

Shak Attack

Slam him for what? The poor guy has had to make to do with just one striker, unlike other managers who get to work with atleast 3 forwards. The club will be in a much better position come february.
