Is there any chance to get A.Johnson and D.Sturriege both from Man. City??

Sturridge plays for Chelsea.

Oh, so people disagree with me that he plays for Chelsea? Then enlighten me, who does he play for then?

Lewis the Red

Yeh! Sturridge is at Chelski So what was the question?

Didnt think that sturridge plays for any team , just head down running then a shot from 30 yards , very overrated player ..........andy.

Hey eds read on Caughtoffside i think it was so dont really believe it i take what they say with a pinch of salt that liverpool have agreed a £15.8m deal for ramirez just passing it on. n wanted to ask if the eds kno of any recent developments? as my usual source thinks we havnt bid yet but have enquired and got told around 22m dont know if thats euros or pounds tho n you may have more up to date info cheers CRAIG

Yes they used thomkins and the 2 uruguayans as there sources. They dont normally have any source, i think we are definately close, we could be just haggling on the price a little. RedTurk

07 Jul 2012 23:29:32
Everyone is going on about Ramirez like he plays for us! As far as i'm aware we have not even made a bid?(Eds Can you clear this up?)

Stop going on like this, because if we dont sign him, this page will be full of a bunch of cry babies!

Gaston Ramirez, Rasmus Elm, Joe Allen, Wayne Bridge and Keisuke Konda INS
Jay Spearing, J

Bridge has gone to Brighton on loan

Lewis the Red

Wayne bridge are u insane? Jack Robinson even now is twice the player, hell I'd rather we played John Henry there.
CQ

Wayne Bridge signed for Brighton.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Wayne bridge who just went on loan to brighton?

A lot of these current rumors are nothing but twitter and gossip monger tripe. I think there are really only a few transfers that have any legs when it comes to Liverpool.

I think Gaston Ramirez is certainly in the cards. I think the Suarez (He's not going anywhere. Stop the stupid rumors) and Coates link helps a lot, and I think you will see Liverpool get him for around 17 million pounds.

I don't think this Borini stuff has any legs at all. I would imagine someone like Schurrle for about 12 million might be a possibility, with an outside chance of going for someone like Jovetic. I think Both of them would work well with Suarez.

I don't think we are looking for a left back at the moment and I don't think losing out on Sig is as bad as some might think. He clearly went for the money so his heart wasn't really with Pool anyway.

Finally, Hoilett is being considered as another left wing option on a free to give competition to Downing. We will also see Sterling get some time there this year. Not quite sure yet who will be leaving though.

If signing Hoilett meant less game time for Sterling. I wouldn't even consider Hoilett. We've got one of best young talents about in Sterling. Why buy Hoilett when this could hamper Raheim's progression into hopefully the 1st team?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Hoilett played well as a big player for a poor Blackburn team. He would just be another Charlier Adam if we signed him. Better options available.

Lewis the Red

I would just get Hoillet for some pace off the bench; I can imagine a triple substitution of Hoillet, Bellamy and Sterling and just destroy the tired defenders.

07 Jul 2012 22:58:35
If you were Liverpool boss, who would you sign if you had 30 million. Cheers!

I'd take the money and run!

Red Raw

Javi martinez , reminds me so much of alonso

Gaston Ramirez, Jovetic and Rasmus Elm.
If we get rid of Aquilani, Cole, Maxi, Pacheco and Spearing aswell then expect a couple more in....Joe Allen, Jordan Rhodes ?
Just my opinion....!
ANFIELDPETE

Ramirez (16-20 mill) and Tello (10 mill buyout clause). That's what Balague said Tello had.

For the second time today sky transfer clock watch has said we r signing Gaston Ramirez only just there now they have said we r signing him tomorrow for £15 pounds.
Please please please let this be true wat a statement it would be if we made him r first signing

That's a bargain, I'll even front the cash for him!

Red Raw

£15 pounds? What a steal!!

£15? As cheap as that? With a little luck we'll get him eventually, but remaining realistic about it & quietly confident...

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Good job that commoli bloke isnt still around he would of offered 8 pound and we would be haggling for weeks

Hey eds/all

I've been on the Anfield tour today and general feeling amongst the tour guides is that we will be staying at Anfield, thats their gut instinct anyway. They reckon that it'll take about 5-6 yrs to move to Stanley Park and thats too long. The option of adding a 2nd tier to the Anfield Rd & Main Stand seems to be the option to go for.

This may not be 'breaking news' but i for one would be well pleased if this is what the owners decided on!

Thanks guys,

Mr T

Well , you may have read one or of my past posts , I do get some info , and I have heard , for some time now that its 90 per cent certain that we will be staying and about 12,000 more seats , and yes , expect one big player coming very soon , one on a free , and another english player .

Eds, Rodgers had said hes happy with the squad but needs to work on certain areas, he has also stated he wants 3-4 signings. take the defence and pepe out of the equation(even if johnson goes) gerrard will start along with suarez leaving 4 starting players up for grabs! so...the signings we are linked with i.e striker, winger and attacking midfielder seem likely! this would totaly change the concept kk had....this is the best thing thats happened to our club in years! 3-4 players coming in playing a 4-3-3 is top 4 easily...plz post! would like to know opinions of fellow supporters, cheers.

JOZLFC

I reckon Lucas Leiva will be a certain starter also .

Reina , Johnson , Skrtel , Agger , Enrique , Lucas ,Gerrard Suarez .

Leaving only 3 positions available for our strongest eleven .

EdWood

Starting 11 i would say would be

Reina, Agger, Enrique, jhonson and Skrtel
Lucas, Gerrard and Henderson
Suarez and Carroll

Obviously that only leaves 1 new man to fill spot, hopefully Ramirez but we will have to wait and see

gareth

Ramirez, Carroll & Bellamy to complete the XI

On a personal note I think Sturridge joining liverpool is bad. I think he is a greedy player with room to improve in a team effort.
Thats just my opinion, Do you think he would fit in to BR tika-taka style, Eds

FOREVER RED

He needs to work on his defensive contribution to the team as a whole and learn to pass it about a bit! Maybe with the right man management, Rodgers can get him going. Definitely better options though.

gaston remirez will not join, how do people no brendon rogers likes the player .media rubbish again .

How do u no he doesnt

Yeah media rubbish, just like sigurdsson going to spurs was media rubbish, the media obviously create stories to fill the rag but when they start printing concrete stuff its generally true

Im sure BR likes him, i can't imagine a manager not liking him to be honest, but obviously it doesn;t mean we are getting him

hey eds...
anything new on Aquilani... is he staying or going...? I wish he stays, he can be a great player in the final third and in terms of key passes and production!! Great site!! keep up the good work! :)
YNWA {Ed002's Note - Nothing new aside from the interest from Turkey.}

Production dont make me laugh , the only thing he can produce from his 3 years at liverpool is his wage slips !!!

What about his sick notes?

And his flight itineraries for Alitalia airlines?

Is there any way that we have 'Journalistic' style page on this site? It would be nice I think to have a page where people can give proper, well-thought out analysis and opinions, without viewers having to go through some of the meaningless stuff posted on this site! I would certainly be interested in being a regular writer.

07 Jul 2012 20:05:03
sigurdson - spurs
kalou - lille
borini - roma
and now jackson martinez - porto

im sure theres more....

WHY DOES NO ONE WANT TO PLAY FOR US ANY MORE???

We didn't bid for any of these players. Patience dear boy

Red Raw

Possibly because we haven't actually bid for them?! Strange as it may seem, players don't join clubs just because the press have them linked. There are a few small details like a bid, a negotiation, an agreement on a fee & personal terms and a contract.

Please wake up and realise that not everything you read in the press is true!

Calnadrak

That's not the case ,lfc linc

Sigurdson - head turned by more money
Kalou - s**te. Nuff Said.
Borini - overrated/not good enough
jackson martinez - definitely didn't bid for him at all

How did ed001 and ed002 get to know each other? Football-rumours was a great site, and since Liverpool-rumours came about and Eds-Note or edsnotes or EdsNote, I've always been curious about the connection.

Thanks, eagerly awaiting th spoof replies :)

not really a liverpool question, just a general one.

with kaka leaving madrid, where do you see him ending up, i would love to see him in the EPL even though he has been poor the last few years.

kind regards

PSG, AC Milan, or a Brazilian team.

He should come and live in liverpool, just what he wants in his old age

If Kaka come to liverpool then Gerrard is the only reason as he like gerrard so much

Hey eds, how good would our midfield be if we had stevie g, Lucas, alonso, Ramirez and cole. Ramirez and cole on the wings the rest in centre mid with Suarez upfront! How possible is this team in the future or very soon? Cheers eds! YNWA

Cole on the wing? Not sure he would be good there anymore. He hasnt got great pace now...id rather see him tucked inside a little more
Gareth

Cole should be chased along with aquilani and spearing cos they not really the future are they so get rid i say !!!

07 Jul 2012 19:11:17
Luis Suarez to sign a new contract in the next few weeks. He is happy here and wants to stay. Brendan Rodgers and FSG are desperate to keep him.

Xabi Alonso had come out & said he misses Liverpool & hasn't signed a contract

Just thought id pass on some news

If I was Spanish I wouldn't be missing Liverpool for Madrid.

Liverpool may not have the weather condition of madrid, and i'm from the south of england, but i know if you are liked in Liverpool then you would never be made more welcome anywhere else in the world! So many thats what he misses, the warmth of the people rather than climate?

gareth

If you were spanish you would be on the spanish sites ?

Was just hoping one of the eds could help me cure my insomnia, as I have spent the last couple of nights awake thinking about the daunting prospect of Theo Wontcross playing in a Liverpool shirt. Please displace this rumour for me thanks.

Lewis the Red.

07 Jul 2012 18:29:04
Eds, this isn't really Liverpool based, but I've seen you saying that Chelsea are interested in Jovetic if the price is right. I am quite taken back by the amount of money they are prepared to throw around, even I was told by a friend who supports Chelsea that they been making a loss for the last 3-5 years.

Are Chelsea really in a position to be spending this kind of money? Especially after what's just happened to rangers. {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have an owner who has been supportive of the club. They are alos predicting income from winning the Champiosn League could potentially hit a very high number. You need to go and read up on teh Rangers situation.}

Roman has many billions and what he puts into Chelsea is just Chump change, there is no fear of chelsea going into financial meltdown while he is the owner.

I understand the owner has a very healthy bank account but I'm talking about the club its self... In terms of FFP, Chelsea will be screwed no?

And didn't Rangers go bust because of spending over their budget? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea will like many clubs claim that they are moving in the right direction. You need to read up on the Rangers situation.}

07 Jul 2012 18:28:52
Just to be clear the Uruguayan journos saying that Ramirez will sign for Liverpool. They are reliable sources

Ben smith from the times has said that nothing has been agreed. Both could be true so it's not a case of one of them is unreliable. It could be that bologna are waiting on an acceptable bid for the player. Usual Liverpool tactics to reduce the price but what is apparent is that there is interest from other clubs so we need to act fast.

What does everyone else think?

There are good and bad sides to moving quickly or working a better price. Moving quickly will help the supporters / players relax and be a signal of intent. Waiting for a better price is good business and as long as they have suitable back-up options probably the smarter way to do business. Think of it this way any money saved on signing Ramirez can be used for other signings.

Coley

Or missing out on another target like Sig!

You should take a cut coley and aqualung

How about a new section on the site called:

Aquilani rumours/banter.

Personally I'm sick of seeing his name and the endless posters gushing over him.
Keep up the good work eds.

MIKEY

Hopefully after he's finally left the club it will all stop. However, it could turn out like the whole Torres thing with everyone asking if there's any chance of signing him again!

Red Raw

I think it's pretty obvious A******i wants to leave Anfield :)

Lewis the Red

You dont believe that yourself though do you?and torres come on aquilani scored one maybe and didnt contribute a whle lot torres earned every penney

I don't understand what the 4th poster said, if it was aimed at me please explain.

Hey ed's big fan of the site. For some reason this wasn't posted the other day hope you can post it this time. ....... LH1992 {Ed002's Note - It was posted - I think it is on the Teams page.}

ED002 - Seeing as you read it, any of my choices for signings a possibility? {Ed002's Note - Diarra is available but somes with significant baggage. Anzhi made a very significant offer for Diarra and Roma could not realise their interest although the player was open to a move to Rome. This leaves Spartak Moscow, who have an offer on the table, or Galatasaray as the likely destination for him unless an offer comes from PSG or, possibly, Spurs.

Ruiz seems most unlikely.}

Thanks.

In fairness, they weren't clubs we would have fancied. Hell I'd want a fortune to live in Russia. Maybe the fact that we are one of his favourite clubs might not make his decision (if we were interested) to join all about money.

Lewis the Red

We are interested in

Callejon

I've heard that ac Milan want Carroll after seeing his header in the euros.

I feel the club should never do any business with AC Milan after the was they treated us over the Aqua!

07 Jul 2012 17:46:21
BR was manager at Swansea, and looking to improve his squad by bringing players in. That was then. Now he is manager of Liverpool, and trying to do the same thing. Why should people assume that he will still be looking at Swansea's potential purchases when he now works for Liverpool?
BR himself has said he will keep things to himself, so why all of this posts which include: "I've been told", "My sources tell me", "You heard it here first" etc. when they plainly have no more idea of what is going on than the rest of us mere mortals.
Give it a break until we actually sign somebody...FFS.

Well eds and readers

Not anything to do with the pool but does anyone know who has the rights for the 3 o'clock kick off this year is it sentanta..

I think BT have taken over ESPN's games. And the only place you can watch 3.o'clock kick offs, can only be found online.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Didn't know there was 3 o'clock kick offs on tv. There's 12.45 on Saturday on Sky and 17.30 on ESPN. And matches on Sunday and Monday. You can see the fixtures on live-footballontv.com. And

Its a fake account

That is the coates fake joke account. He does have a real one but it isnt that one

The new third kit is indeed awful.
The fake tattoo arms must of been aggers idea. Haha

MIKEY

I think it's nicer than the away kit

Lewis the Red

So is your judgement re Suarez..........

The "Tribal" design is very popular for youth soccer in the USA. It looks like a kids kit. However, it is probably a smart idea by Warrior to increase sales amongst the female fan base I would suspect they do need to make 100M back you know.

Coley

07 Jul 2012 17:38:19
Hey Eds, do you think Joe Cole stating would mean we are less likely to get Ramirez? {Ed002's Note - It will make no difference.}

07 Jul 2012 17:34:57
I like who we are being linked with now much better than before I don't care if it is true or not the class of players being linked now just makes me feel good.

Now: Schurrle, Ramirez, Borini, Callejon, Jovetic, Walcott, Howedes

Before: Davies, Davis, Moses, Sturridge, Krasic, Afellay, Huddlestone, Smithies

Just seems like a whole better class of players than before. I am not saying that some of the "before" players are not any good I just did not see them making that big of an impact. Affellay maybe but he has injury problems. Also, I would pray that Sturridge has viral meningitis and not bacterial. Anyway, out of the "now" section I think any selection of 4 would make a great impact on LFC.

I still think that Thomas Muller is a possibility and would suit Liverpool very much he has been with Bayern since he was 10 and is considering his options after losing his place to Kroos. He still loves Bayern but he wants to play more and that is the only reason he is looking to leave and he has been linked with Inter Milan the strongest that I can tell and also Chelsea, and Man City slightly but I do not think that they can offer him that guaranteed place but I am not as informed about Inter's current situation. He is valued at around 28M£ but I think that they would allow him to leave for cheaper for his service to the club like we did for Kuyt. This one is my "crazy" pick of the silly season. Any thoughts I can take constructive criticism?

Coley

Agreed. Just swap Walcott for Afellay and it looks good.

Lewis the Red.

07 Jul 2012 17:15:46
Brendan Rodgers has not given up hope on signing Fabio Borini despite Roma buying 100% of his services as this was always going to happen due to him before being co-owned 50-50 between Parma & Roma.

As I mentioned on Thursday, he also wannts Joe Allen.

Rodgers will also bid for Gaston Ramirez this week as Bologna have stood firm on their €20m (£16m) asking price, not surprising as Ramirez' former club Penarol get 10% of any fee. Expect major developments by Wednesday or Thursday.

Liverpool also look set to offer Agger, Skrtel, Suarez, Sterling & Suso new contracts.

Always makes me chuckle when people say 'as I mentioned earlier' but don't leave a name.

As I said back in February BR was going to be new LFC boss, and I can confirm we will definately be signing muniain!! I've never been wrong.

Mr No Name

07 Jul 2012 17:15:40
Not a rumour but when and why did liverpoolfc.tv become liverpoolfc.com

A week or 2 back. think it was so the site could run faster or sumthin

07 Jul 2012 17:14:04
Spurs want to stop LFC from signing any good players that can be used against them so they are lining up a £25 Million bid for Uruguayan Gaston Ramirez to sit alongside Gylfi Sigurdsson on the bench whilst Luca Modric and Rafael Van der Vaart play on the pitch. Could be true?

Wow spurs will end up spending a lot money this window if they are going to buy every other clubs targets so they can't be used against them ..
I would 've thought they would concentrate more on Arsenal's and Chelsea targets first ..

Roy

Modric is gone or he'll be a stroppy madam all season not getting his move to Champions League...

What a load of rubbish, paranoid springs to mind! spurs have no interest in ramirez, and as for modric he was as good as gold last season for spurs despite not getting his way!

07 Jul 2012 16:40:14
The Walcott rumours are mad. He had a pretty good euro's, in the sense that for the little bit of time he played, he actually had an end product. That's the equivalent of walking into a casino and putting all your money on one spin and coming up a winner. Usually you'd have to wait a lot longer for him to be so productive. He's fast, but not great in the rest of his game. We can do better.

Nick

Agreed. I could of put on my boots and looked better than most of the England team.

MIKEY

RVP seemed to rate him !

I for one think that Walcott would be a top player for us,I don't understand he only has pace argument,I agree that he's hit and miss ,but on his day he can look world class.I truly believe he would turn it on for us,being a boy red.

07 Jul 2012 16:30:43
It seems (underline the word seems) that the only players we are linked with are players that have some past association with BR.

Very Troubling since he mostly (underline the word mostly) has previously worked with players of championship level or a little higher.

Most Haunted

Not so, Siggy is Prem class but BR seemed to think not worth 70k a week.Ramirez also looks EPL class and we seem to have serious interest in him.

The only players we have been linked with are those that have been made up by the media for column inches.

There is not a crumb of evidence to support we have any interest in the players spoken about.

As Rodgers said, there are very few players good enough for Liverpool so don't be fooled by names in papers.

Stop trying to stir trouble just because you're extremely gullible (underline the word gullible)

JRG

Hardly any press leaks in anfield now so the press just digs into the past to see what they find. Linking us with players Brendan has worked with in the past look a lot more credible than names simply picked out of fresh air. Especially after the sigurdsson episode.
Luckily we know better :)

MIKEY

70k a week?! Van der Vaart's is on 45k a week.......SPOILER ALERT!!

Lewis the Red

Sir,

It is not I who is easily taken if you believe and Rodgers believe that - there are very few players good enough for Liverpool as you and Rogers?
have quoted.

Most Haunted

It appears (underline appears) that most haunted is back with his anti BR nonsense. Using your hero (underline fergie) as an example, whilst at Aberdeen fergie signed SPL standard players. When he moved to Old Trafford, did he carry on looking at the same sort of players? Your press fuelled anti BR carp is tiresome.
Why don't you go somewhere else? (underline etihad..)

hey eds n all,
i hope the gaston rumours have legs and lfc can get him , he looks great! a true talent.. on another note tho... do you see lfc bringing in a more defensive midfield to company lucas or backup and possibly replace spearing.. i dont think he is good enough, especially with his passing and technique on ball , he simply doesnt look like he can play in rodgers system....love a reply eds !!
MrJimmy

There is no guarantee that Lucas will be back good enough either.

Hi ed2

What do you think of our 3rd kit?- {Ed002's Note - I have not seen it. Sorry.}

Go on the LFC website, it is awesome.

MC8

Its hideous like the first and second kit

I think its smart but not sure about the tattoo patern on the sleeve though.

I just don't understand why we would have a black away kit, and a navy blue 3rd kit... Colors are too similar. I was hoping for white & green again, or yellow like back in the 80's...

I love it. Just ashame we won't be wearing it that often.

I've noticed how incredibly arrogant the gooners are. They constantly slag liverpool off for being mid table. Well, our club has reached its most stable condition in years and a plethora of things instigated our collapse last year. All their top players are leaving whilst ours have voiced their keeness on staying. When we do make the champions league, we always have a chance of winning, not just make up the numbers like they do. They go on about making the champions league every year, yet their best players leave anually. I'm not convinced by their new strikers and their board is in turmoil. They say we are deluded, they talk of signing ozil and higuain. Just thought I'd hit back, as I see they have had a lot to say about our club recently

4 managers in less than three years does not sound very stable to me, so where do you get our club has been at the most stable for years from? Mitch

H+G nearly put the reds into the grave rafa would not have gone but for them thats why we have been unstable with so many managers but thats history we can not change or live in the past ,today is all we should care about come on you reds ************* get back , get back to where we belong, ynwa red mick tag

I think you said it yourself. The arsenal fans do have something to cheer and boast about as they keep making the champions league every year in spite of losing their best players year on year. Not to mention the extra £25-30m the club makes every year courtesy of reaching the knock out stages every year. They are one the sustainable clubs which will not be affected by the UEFA FFP regulations too which is what FSG are trying to implement (more homegrown talent and less yearly big money buys) and bought liverpool in the first place trusting UEFA to enforce FFP. I am a reds fan by the way.

Hello all great Eds the informers,
let's assume that we do lose Reina. Is there any back up plan? {Ed002's Note - This would be a back up plan to something we do not know is happening?}

Yes,a back up plan would usually be for something that we dont know is happening, surly br has somthing in mind if reina does leave.

pd

Football transfers etc. are constantly in a state of flux

We can have all the plans we like but can they be excuted

That is the crux of the problem

Nothing is guaranteed in life or football, all there is that's guaranteed is death + taxes

Wont happen.

Ben smith is just as unreliable as other journos. He gets so many deals wrong, its unbelievable. So I wouldn't take what he says too seriously. Let's just wait and see what happens. I personally see liverpool as the only destination for gaston ramirez if we can agree a fee.

If people want Sturridge and Walcott then I have an offer that can save the club a fortune.

Sign me.

I'm quite fast, I can run with my head down, I can shoot 10 yards wide each time and I will only ask for 1k a week with no signing on fee or agent costs.

I will play my heart out each week and my head wont be turned by a double your money offer from Manchester City.

Main drawback is I am 32.

Do Liverpool have any interest in me Eds?

Tristan {Ed002's Note - Arsenal, AC Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Napoli, Juventus and Roma have all shown an interest in Tristan in the recent past.}

Is your first name Diego mate? He was quality

Along with Suso could Teixeira maybe get a chance to prove himself this season. Both now 19 and both very talented.

I saw Suso play yesterday, and believe he should be given a chance with the first team. The Spanish played everything through him in midfield.

Yeah he is the top man in the spanish setup ,just lets hope he continues to progress cos he is gonna be some player for us in the future along with sterling and teixera and adjoran who i rate aswell

NOT LIVERPOOL RELATED however highly amusing:

Ž"I was aware of Arsenal's interest in me, but in my career I aim to win several trophies. That isn't possible there..." -Eden Hazard

"I have joined Arsenal because I want to win trophies" Lucas Podolski

"I have left Arsenal because I want to win trophies" RVP

The contrast in opinions is quiet amusing!

Looks like BR is tapping up the italian market. Ramirez, borini, jovetic...there's no doubt there's some phenomenal talent in serie A, but we should just be weary of more aquilanis. They are used to a slow paced game. {Ed028's Note - those players named dont play were aquilani plays }

Jovetic and Ramirez have the power, guts, pace and skill to play anywhere in the world. I'm not convinced by Borinis quality and still think a lot of him being linked to us is due to the fact that he played at Swansea for Rodgers. Aquilani is lazy with no guts or desire. He does have some technical ability but he wants it all handed on a plate to him, he's not a fighter.

Ramirez £16m
A Johnson £15m
Sturridge £10m

07 Jul 2012 14:03:43
Anyone else hope that keeping Aquilani might be a good move?
I know there were a few players I would have swapped him for last year that got a game week in and week out.
Having him as an option could buck up the ideas of those who feel their place in the team is a given. Plus who wants the club to blow 15+ million on a cheap sale?

Let BR try to get something out of him and if it doesn't work out just ship him out to the highest bidder in Jan. {Ed028's Note - I dislike his attitude...ALOT}

HE DOESNT WANT TO BE THERE!!
Even his wedding last week was booked for when the available squad were due back for training and when he should of been there trying to impress the new manager to try and fight to get back in the team. he had weeks, out of season, to get married, he's a multi-millionaire who can pay to get married where ever, whenever he wants but no he did it when he should have been at melwood.
I for one have no interest in having players who are not interested in being there and Aquilani has never shown or voiced any desire to be at the club! Or even in this country!
Can people please let this Aquilani thing go. I'd rather just end his contract, release him on a free, count your losses and just be done with it.

Kev79

If he seriously wants to be a part of BR's plans,he needs to stop talking via his agent and get himself back to Melwood ASAP. It's pretty clear BR is prepared to give everyone a chance to prove themselves, but his patience will be sorely tested Aquilani doesn't show the right attitude where it counts - on the training ground and then the pitch!

I agree whole-heartedly with Kev79 but would it be as simple as just ripping up his contract?
ANFIELDPETE

Obviously a payment would have to be agreed for his contract to let him go but I think that would be better than endlessly paying his high wages whilst he's on loan somewhere else. He would be free then to go back to Italy and join on a free somewhere.
Yes we have lost money on Aquilani but I think it would be better for everyone concerened if this was the solution. It doesn't do the squad any good having players there that don't want to there and Aquilani quite clearly would prefer to be back in Italy and I cant see anyone really paying money for him, it made me laugh the other day when someone on here said sell Aquilani for £12 million, haha no chance.

Kev79

Dont think we need a striker, we need a couple of good CAM / wingers who can contribute with goals.
Last seasons disaster was also down to lucas's injuryt and we really need a good cdm to cover more than we need a striker.

I expect rodgers four new players to be two cam and cdm and a lb

a.johnson and g.ramirez would be so brilliant if it were to happen and it seems like its possible.. fingers crossed.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both Walcott and Sturridge arrive at Liverpool, both would cost around £35M.

What do you guys think?

The Rectangle

Well, they will both have to play at Anfield once this season for Arsenal and Chelsea respectively, so I guess they'll be in Liverpool at some point...

07 Jul 2012 13:15:13
What a devastating front three we would have if we could get Mathias Suarez and ramirez to link up with our current Suarez. Pace power movement goals

I'd prefer Callejon to M.Suarez. I think Callejon fills the right hand side void that we need strengthening plus he chips in with goals.

Why not have both ? Maybe a bit greedy but hey

07 Jul 2012 13:10:57
Would Fans be willing to let Glen Johnson leave the club and let Martin Kelly step up into that position. LFC may be able to get a bit of money for him. He is going to reach his peak season next year. So why not cash in on him.

After his peak season

Or instead be sensible and use him at his peak

Big dan

He fits in exactly with the style that rodgers wants to implement and has lots of experience and still has a good season or two left in him. I like Martin Kelly and he will get his time. Whether at full back or central defence he will be a first team regular for years to come.

If people had to choose one or the other, who would you go for and why?

Walcott or Sturridge?

Wouldn't want either of them.
We need to lay off buying British for a while.
kidmillions

Sturridge: better player and more goals in him.

Sturbridge is a greedy boy who needs to learn to pass and play with others before he can develop into a top player
Walcott can turn it on or off, his final ball improved last season and he is pretty quick
Neither will happen but I prefer theo
Bean

NEITHER. Why? Because they are they were describes as 'the next owen' and 'the english henry'.

07 Jul 2012 12:53:56
Why didn't the club do a deal with Swansea for BR, Ashley Williams and Scott Sinclair. We could of paid 25million all in and gotten the transfers out of the way.

At the moment, we not likely to get any where near Swansea players because they will cost us double, yet those two where reason Swansea played so well and not BR.

NO it should have been allen + BR for 13m

Joe Allen is by far the best player at Swansea and I believe we will be in for him next summer if Rodgers was to have his own way. With Gerrards playing career coming to and end in the next couple of seasons a future midfield three of Lucas, Allen and Suso would be very exciting Imo with possibly Henderson, Coady and Shelvey also in the squad fighting for places.

07 Jul 2012 12:51:34
Fernando Torres 20-something mil if we don't manage to get anyone else ~ I think he has unfinished business at Anfield

He only has unfinished business because he wanted to leave and engineered a move away to one of our biggest rivals. Let it go, Id rather spend money on the best up and coming talent and move forward rather than looking into the past.

07 Jul 2012 12:51:05
Imagine the possibility of ignoring all rumour pages, newspapers, tabloids etc after 1st july until the 31st of August and then checking who your teams have signed! Would be so nice not drooling over the likes of Ramirez and others and just knowing which players signed LOL.
Having said that, the summer transfer window cannot be compared to any other sport highlight and I wouldnt last 2 hours without checking who were possibly linked with and the chances of them signing, the banter involved in the process and the joy/heartache when a player signs or chooses another club to ply his trade with.
Football = LIFE!!
RedSox69
P.s: Id be absolutely shattered if G.Ramirez doesnt sign for us, despite nothing official, our hopes have reached sky high with the thought of him in our squad. PLEASE LORD!

Thats what it was like when I was a kid growing up in Liverpool in the 80's-early 90's, more often than not you wouldn't know anything until the player was signed and sealed and one of your mates would bump into you and say we've signed so and so! It was a lot more exciting that way.

Theo Walcott is 23 and has had a very good euro. Shown alot of clubs what he can do, but will real or bara want him? Man utd might want him, but we are in no position to bid for a player like him.

Plus I don't think he really wants to leave Arsenal and is looking for a big pay raise. Something Arsenal keep refusing to do with their best players. So he may end up at Man City in the end followed by Arsene Wenger. I know if I was Wenger that I would want to be a Man City instead of arsenal.

They have already taken all his best players and Fab has left for Spain. So what is Arsenal really offering him any more. He gets a good wage, lives in London, but sooner or later Arsenal won't be able to get into the champions league and he will be booted out instead of given the right amount of money to fix the problems.

I don't think you need to worry about losing out on Walcott to either Real, Barca or United any time soon!

Gav

Theo had a decent 20 mins against an aging Sweden defence more like. Not a good euros. Maybe you still have MOTD fever from the Sweden game.

Mighty reds

Theo Walcott is 23 and has had a very good euro (not so good 6 seasons with Arsenal). Shown alot of clubs what he can do (run fast), but will real or bara want him? (no) Man utd might want him (if they want City to win the league again), but we are in no position to bid for a player like him (Exactly. We actaully want to sign quality).

If BR can't buy any players this summer, will the likes of Joe Cole, aquilani be forced to stay at the club against their will. And lets face it both of them are sticking around for the huge wages and have offered little in exchange. Lets face it LFC could of employed 700 people at 12,000 a year and helped the local community out. Than the amount of money they wasted on those two.

Cost cutting at Anfield. A Doni and B Jones, why have we got two keepers of this quality at the club and their doing nothing. B Jones had one sub and Doni had 4 starts. Shouldn't LFC be looking at a younger keeper to come in and one of these guys to move on

Fabio Aurelio managed 1 game start and 1 sub last season. Shocking stats for injury prone player like him. I think LBK position needs investment and we need someone who can play both left and right as cover and somone who will be able to fill in gaps when players are injured.

Dirk Kuyt played 22 games last season and now he has left. So who will be picking up his starts in the team>? Is sterling being offered his starting line up. The midfield is still unbalance and we need a tradional winger to come into the team.

Out of Aquilani and J Cole, I would keep Aquilani at the club. Joe Cole legs have gone and its pointless letting him near the first team. If we could get these two of the payroll then we may be able to get C midfielder and winger who wants to play for this club. I would look for a box to box midfielder that has a eye for goal.

Joe Cole is desperate to prove himself at Liverpool and wants to be there and talks well of the fans. He actually had a very good spell at Lille and could be a useful squad player next season, esspecially with europe, and has experience to share with the younger players coming through. Yes he's on quite high wages but he was free. I'd keep him for next season, could be useful in the squad.
Aquilani has no desire to be at Liverpool or even be in England.

Joe Cole cant keep up with premiership pace, if he could he would still be at Chelsea, he isn't a top 4 player. He should of gone to Fulham. Somewhere they would of played him week in and week out because they had no one else and his form and fineness wouldn't matter. He isn't a liverpool player

He could be a useful squad player, european games and that.

Anyone else think we should seriously keep Aquilani on the team? I have watched him play in about 20 games for Milan this year. He has a certain fluidity about his passing and movement that we need. I understand he wants to play for a big Italian club, but perhaps he needs to earn his stripes. He is a professional footballer, not a toddler. Surely an agreement could be made. Joe Cole as well. I think he has something to offer, and whilst not a starting 11, I think he would potentially do damage off the bench. We would then really only need two to three players to be competitive.

Also, do you have any source's that can confirm that he doesn't want to play for liverpool or in england.

I believe he doesn't want to play here, but how much so, and how do you know? if you do.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - There is plenty of discussion in the archive about Aquilani.}

Gaston Ramirez to LFC deal is gathering pace,Aquilani agent rejected option to be involved in the deal.Fees exp around £16m.Bologna might play waiting game.

Kalou has signed a 4 year deal with Lille following his departure from Chelsea.

That will put that rumour to bed, although, maybe a replacement for losing Hazard but maybe a contingency about Cole not returning there either.

Would love to see Cole given a chance, as would I Aqualani but I don't see that viable considering his attitude.

Morning Ed Is Aquillani back at melwood training with rest of the squad
{Ed002's Note - No. Try the search function.}

Eds hearing very strong rumours that Gaston Ramirez to Liverpool is all but complete. Also believe we are on the verge of signing Daniel Sturridge. Personally I think both will be an excellent addition to the squad. However it is vital Liverpool bring in at least 1 out an out winger. For you who is most realistic of all we have been linked with? Thanks Mitch {Ed002's Note - I am not going to try and say who the most "realistic" is.}

07 Jul 2012 08:58:16
Eds do you think Rodgers will give sterling and suso more first team football next season? We all have seen how good sterling can be and the little game time he got last season he did alot better than downing did all season!

Also I was watching suso for Spain v Portugal highlights and suso looks like he would fit into brendans style as he has great technique, good awareness, he's a good passer, knows how to beat his man and he is Spanish so he is probably use to Rodgers style of play.

Also you see man utd and arsenal play there youngsters and they are stars for them they should a bit of flair and pace which I think we really need! {Ed002's Note - They will get their chance if he thinks they are ready.}

07 Jul 2012 08:40:49
Rodrigo romano is the journo on twitter from Uruguay who had the coates deal spot on. He says Gaston Ramirez will complete deal over weekend to LFC

I really want to try to ignore this rumour, cus the thought of it just makes me too excited, and will be disappointed if it doesn't go through. But I just can't help myself! I really hope that this one has legs. Please Mr Henry, please please please!

Nick

Same as me Nick, everytime i see it i just think BS, then if it doesn't happen no disappointment, if it happens i'm one happy Kopite

Unrealistic I know, but do you think there's any chance of David villa, papers are reporting barca want to sell to get cash for rvp, would be a DREAM buy, don't you agree?

In the fantasy land you obviously live in.

Please stop mentioning the likes of Iker Muniain and Gonzalo Higuain in your posts there is 0% chance Liverpool will even think about signing them and 0%chance they would want to to go to Liverpool

Actually, I still believe there is about 20% chance of us signing Muniain. He fits the policy, there was interest, and he is not settled in Bilbao right now. Much depends on their new coach too.

I was very skeptical about the chances of Ramirez joining LFC and to a degree I am very much any attempts to be intercepted by a club with bigger financial clout, but this evenings reports of Rodrigo Romano claiming a deal has been done for 20mil has boosted my optimism. He was the same person who reported the Coates deal. Fingers crossed.

Brendan Rodgers first signing for LFC will be absolutely crucial for the club, as it will be the catalyst for all future activity, be it attracting new players or retaining the current ones.
So its crucial that he gets it 100% right.
A big test ahead for BR.

No it wont. it will have no baring what so ever on future signings

Now that Junior Fernandez has signed a 5 year deal with Bayern Leverkusen I'm thinking that Schruule will be on his way....Liverpool maybe, wink wink.

He is the replacement for Eren Derdiyok, who joined Hoffenheim.

If we were to somehow sign Ramirez and then Schurrle it would be an amazing coup...

I noticed the Borini to LFC is raising its head again. As Borini plays for AS ROMA, who's president is Thomas R. DiBenedetto (also a partner of FSG) - would that make any difference to valuation of the player, or maybe even Aqualani going back to AS ROMA?

Gav the Red

It would certainly be in both parties interests to keep. The fees down to at least minimise the tax liability. Would also rid us of Aquillani who just doesn't want to be here. I remember when I asked for his autograph two years ago for my 10 year old son, and he looked at me like I was s**t. I suppose the Disney autograph book may not have helped.

Ramirez & Borini are close to signing.
Really good signings in my opinion .Both young ,but with bags of ability.
If these are the kind of players Brendan is looking at ,we are all in for a treat over the next few seasons.

Mick D

Ramirez is amazing but borini isnt good enough.

Borini is 21 years old what an absolutely ridiculous comment to make.

07 Jul 2012 01:52:53
Alberto Aquilani has been offered to Roma for just €4mil, but Liverpool have also offered €9mil for Fabio Borini. So if both deals come off it would represent a good bit of business for Liverpool. John Henry and Tom Werner overseeing these deals personally due to their business connections with Roma's owners.

Eds, a large number of journo's (albeit of twitter) are saying a deal for gaston Ramirez is done and he could be signed this weekend. Do you know anything about this? Amazing signing if true but I'm very sceptical, although I've seen these 'twitter' before, but this one seems to have twitter buzzin a bit more than usual? {Ed049's Note - we'll have to wait and see.}

It is a little different than the old "fee agreed for so and so...". It seems they've actually resorted to "done deal" on this one.
I still doubt it, but would be amazing if true.

07 Jul 2012 01:09:04
From Liam Tomkins Twitter feed:

May come as a surprise after the Sigurdsson saga but it seems #LFC may have met Bologna's asking price for Gaston Ramirez (20m)... -- Liam Tomkins (@liam_tomkins)

He also states his previous club would receive 30% of the sale, hence the reason Bologna will hold firm on the valuation. This doesn't mean its a done deal, but it could be the start of an exciting Summer...

Juventus want Suarez for £30mil. If we sell him for that we have problems, Carroll worth £35mil and Susrez £30mil makes no sense. We cannot sell our best striker at a price like that!

What you have shown is that 'price' and 'worth' are 2 different concepts

for example, Carroll's 'price' was £35m but Carroll is not 'worth' £35m

price will depend on numerous factors including the relative bargaining position of the buyer and seller, not just a player's worth

Gav

Selling suarez would be a massive mistake, by far our most creative player !!, we need more players like him .

07 Jul 2012 00:30:40
Since Liverpool are linked with nearly everyone under 15mil who has not yet signed a new deal then I get the feeling the press don't know much. Either that or nobody is interested

If Suarez was in any way, shape or form going to leave Liverpool (esp this summer) then BR would not go in record suggesting that a new contract is in the offing for Suarez. He is the clubs prized asset and if he goes then Coates will soon follow and all of a sudden BR's job just got 10x harder. Its easier said than done trying to replace someone like Suarez. I mean we are struggling to attract the very top players even with him! The owners, BR and Liverpool as a club would just look pathetically stupid if they sold Suarez now. They should have sold him before appointing BR. I was slightly nervous before the manager was appointed about losing Suarez however for the manager to come out and say what he said I am not nervous at all. Also after the Sigurdsson thing, how much more embarassment can BR take if Suarez did leave now?!?! Contrary to what the Eds say or not he is DEFFO going to see the 12/13 campaign out atleast with Liverpool. End of.

Thanks

Kam

Eds have reasons to believe he's leaving. Singred

Interestign thoughts... not sure how the 'Sigurdsson thing' causes embarrassment to BR or Liverpool - BR knew what salary/fee Swansea were going to pay - why us pay more!

Sigurdsson wanted more money and I think Hoffenheim got more tha BR was willing to pay. Sigurdsson is the one who missed out playing for Liverpool as far as I'm concerned!

I don't think he will be sold either.

However, if you have something you want to sell, you don't go around saying I no longer need it/want it or I could do with the money to buy something else.

It's value will drop immediately.

You talk it up saying how brilliant it is and how you would never want to part with it. The person coveting it will realise it would take a special bid to try and prise the item from you.

Agree fully with this, Rodgers is an intelligent individual so I'm sure he has realised that he has stated in an interview that Suarez is staying and we are going to make some QUALITY signings. If he goes back on his word now he will have most fans on his case before the season even begins making his job much harder.

Posted this reply earlier, so don't know why it hasn't appeared yet.
Anyway.........
I don't think he will leave either.

However, if you have an item you want to sell. If you start touting it around, giving the impression you no longer want it or saying you need the money to buy something else, it's value drops and it becomes worth a lot less than before.

If you are saying that there's no way you would sell, you really like/want the item then the person looking to buy from you realises they will have to come up with a special offer/deal to make you even consider parting with your precious item.

Similar to what's happened to RVP at Arsenal now he's come out and said he doesn't want to stay and is in the final year of his contract.

He's right you know we got lucky with torres when we sold him that suarez wasn't really playing at the best club (no offense) But we survived it because of suarez if we now have to do the same find a top striker in our position I am afraid we wouldn't have the financial power

With Forlan joining internacional, there seems to be a genuine consensus that damiao is to be sold. Ive seen him linked with spuds, but they are struggling to come up with the dough for adebayor let alone damiao, if he were to become available do you eds think liverpool would be interested, I cant remember the last time we had 3 decent strikers, not since Houllier anyway.

Also with regards to Lucas Moura how highly rated is he,I have seen a range of teams linked and a range of prices, is he a realistic target, or is he only for the billionaires?

eds and every1.
i just want to spread and feel the love 4 our wonderful club. we have so many fans scattered around the world and its great. three wks ago i was on holiday in the canaries and bumped in 10 other guys all LFC fans that never met b4 but were all there to watch LFC tv channel on satalite!
my uncle lives near ONTARIO in canada and with a low population he knows at least 20 LFC fans. i also have a half brother that live in oz and he gets 2geva with mates at 1am just to watch the boys play live. such a big world but we always unite as 1.
we are 1 of the most richest (owners)
we probably have the most number of fans.
we are 4th in francise selling in the world.
we have englands biggest trophy cabinet (full too!)
the list goes on, we all need to get behind FSG and BR and show the world our pride. good times are ahead and its time to put LFC back on top! love to u all, cheers. jim
(p.s: im in the pub half cut, proving to me manc mate that were the rulers of football)

Yes buddy you sir are the kind of fan we need on here , that and people who are actually ITK, top draw

Ed's you may shoot me down for saying this but here goes. Rodgers has this week said the club are working hard behind the scenes to bring in his transfer targets. Rodgers seemed very calm and upbeat about it. This only makes me think we must be fairly well down the line on some transfers. However, almost every name we are strongly linked with you all seem to play it down and act as though not much is going on. So is it fair to say that you honestly don't know which players we are making progress on? A year ago this website gave excellent info on all of last years transfers well before they happend. Now the club seems a tough nut to crack to get any info from. I still love this website, I'm just missing some concrete info to get me excited about the new season. {Ed001's Note - we have to get our info from outside of the club, we did so last year as well, but were lucky enough to be able to get some good, solid info. This year has been difficult, but then nothing much has really happened yet to find out about.}

To all these pople that keep saying adam is on his way, think about it, what sort of game will BR introduce? And what are Adam's strengths? He will prove to be a massive part of the squad over the next few years under BR.

Red Grand

I agree I think if Adam was in the Swansea team last year we'd all be raving about him. BR seems like a manager who really knows how to get the very best out his players. I hope so anyway. CQ

You are kidding arn't you? Adam has the mobility of a sloth. Yeah he can pass a ball (a long ball) but its not about that. Its moving around, retaining possession, winning the ball back immediatly after losing it, penetrating the defence.......Adam is as far off the mark as any midfielder in our squad. You obviously don't watch a lot of football.

Well wot are his strengths, didn't see any last season? won't play many games this season with a fully fit lucas back, sorry but adam and spearing have no real future they're just backfill holding up development of the young players coming through, flog them both to championship sides. there's no room for sentiment anymore we need to take what we can get for them and move on!

06 Jul 2012 23:42:24
hey Eds, just wondered what the situation was with Lucas Moura - where do you think he will end up? {Ed001's Note - not a clue sorry.}

06 Jul 2012 23:42:21
Telegraph saying we're looking to sign Fabio Borini....

The media have no idea what's going on, so they're making up stories...

Unless they know something we don't (which I highly doubt)

RedSG

BR caoched him a bit in the past and really admires the player, that is really all that has been said. The papers have just taken it a bit too far, as they do.

Don't be fooled my friend, journalists NEVER know things we humans don't know.

Red7.

Oh no just found out we missed out on aguero hos now gone to city! Get a grip are people worried about not signing Davis we will sign players that fit in with BRs play! The signings will happen be patcient!!

Aguero will NEVER join City, he's a Liverpool fan!!

06 Jul 2012 23:38:01
Have Liverpool signed Fabio Borini?

06 Jul 2012 23:16:30
don't know about anyone else but i think i would be happy to see cole stay on. high wages aside IF (and i know its a big if) rodgers could get the best out of him and turn him back into the joe cole of 2 or 3 years ago then we would have a real player on our hands, dont forget most people on here were ecstatic when we signed him ok it didn't go well but at least he's had the stones to turn round and admit it hasn't gone well but he wants to prove a point (unlike aqualani) seems to me rodgers passing style of play would suit him and he had a pretty decent season at lille last year. This isn't in any way meaning i don't want us to still be in the market for new signings but i do think he is one who we should take a chance on and keep for another season especially with europa league games this year.

Yup !! B

06 Jul 2012 23:15:14
Hi eds just wondering if you know when we will actually start to sign players? nothing seems to be happening. {Ed001's Note - don't you think Rodgers will want to look at the squad first and assess it?}

Few weeks yet i'd say, i'd like them here before the end of the month personally, but there's no real hurry, we've all season to gel...

Ha. I'm sure Mr Rodgers will be kind enough to let the eds know exactly who he's buying and when so that it can be relayed on a public forum for the world to see. Wow.
