Just had a txt from the lad who gave me some slightly dodgy team news before the Southampton game, he's convinced me that that was a one off a few weeks ago and the team he's just received and sent me is definitely the team for tomorrow. So I'll probably take a chance and post it hoping he's redeemed himself and the contact he has.

You sure you're not just getting the team news from Damian on Twitter, Waro?

Agree5 Disagree3

08 Nov 2015 00:03:23
This is Damians team:
Mignolet – Clyne, Škrtel, Sakho, Moreno – Emre Can, Lucas – Ibe, Lallana, Coutinho – Benteke.

Come on lads. Let's do the business against Palace and round off a great week.
Spuds lose to Arsenal and we're in the mix for a top four finish.

" Don't stop believing "

Agree5 Disagree0

08 Nov 2015 01:00:18
Ideally we want Arsenal and Spurs to draw and Man City to lose?
All 3 teams are dropping points then. I do think Southampton will be a threat for our finish at the end of the season. Don't think Leicester will keep it up.

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Nov 2015 05:00:39
I would believe Waro over any person on twitter. He has proven plenty of time in the past he gets solid info.

Agree6 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - same here.}

08 Nov 2015 09:21:52
Leicester and Southampton will fall away.

Top 6 will be (no particular order)

City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea.

Mryoxall, trust me when I say this, I've never and I mean never been on Twitter or for that matter Facebook in my life and have zero intention of doing so in the future, it's this kind of reply that puts me right off posting anything other than my own thoughts on what's happening at the club.

It's not just yourself, judging by the disagrees to my OP, for yourself or anybody else, I don't claim to be ITK or anything like that, but I do receive info from time to time maybe it's not 100% all of the time, but for the record, it's never from Twitter or Facebook or any other site.

Agree2 Disagree3

08 Nov 2015 11:14:02
Wasn't accusing you Waro, just interested if your team is the same as the one Damian posted. You post came mimutes after his tweet, too.

It's amazing that the team news leakers suddenly started getting teams wrong after BR stopped using different coloured bibs in training. Having got ''Inside info'' for so long the sources suddenly dried up when the club stopped being so dumb and posting 1st 11 players in yellow bibs on facebook.

If Jordon Ibe starts today it will clearly show that Klopp is a really honest man, doesn't care about who you are as long as you are not performing. Milner and Firmino have done nothing special so far to start over J. Ibe who was brilliant on Thursday.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Nov 2015 14:48:39
I was impressed by Firmino in Europe and vs Chelsea. I don't think Ibe has outshone him but they've both played very well.

I have to ask Eds/Reds what do you make of Vardy this year. Absolutly grabbing his chance with both hands. Mahrez ain't too shabby either.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Try the Leicester page.}

08 Nov 2015 01:02:40
Reminds me of Craig Bellamy. Looks good running for 90+ mins and scoring. Put him in a club where he has "better players around him" would be look as good?

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Nov 2015 02:24:02
Obviously nowhere near as technically gifted, but I think he has a bit of Luis suarez in him the way he goes about. His work rate and passion for the game are fantastic, just look at his celebrations, and he's got a bit of fight in him as well.

08 Nov 2015 09:23:15

Vardy vs Suarez 😆.

Hi Ed, assuming Markovic returns to us - in your opinion would you see him being integrated back into the squad and being a player that Klopp would like and use - sorry if this has already been asked.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is a bit early to know that, but personally I think he is likely to be moved on to fund transfers.}

07 Nov 2015 19:22:57
That would be unfortunate Ed, obviously he's not the finished article but he's still got some talent I think anyway.

I just hope his career hasn't been stunted too much by what's happened in the last 2 years.

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Nov 2015 21:24:54
Nah He's not good enough IMO. We have better wide players currenttly at the club, I'd much rateher see Ibe given more chance and maybe a youngster like Kent given a chance before Markovich. He needs to be moved on.

Agree2 Disagree5

07 Nov 2015 20:44:48
Markovic is sadly another expensive mistake imo, 25 million € on a 20 year old not much better than Jordon Ibe or Joao Teixeira and it's even debatable if he's as good as those 2. He would have to have an incredible season just for us to get half what we paid for him. Hopefully he stops getting injured and maybe Klopp might want to give him a chance before selling him.

Agree1 Disagree3

07 Nov 2015 16:37:58
Just wondering if one of the eds, (probably ed001) could tell me who from academy over the last 10 year or so had the most potential but wasn't managed right or left too soon. I. e. Someone like klacaniklic? (Obviously not the best but could he have been a better player today had he stayed and developed with us? ) thanks eds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, most should have left sooner, rather than later.}

07 Nov 2015 19:19:42
Slightly unrelated but I'm glad Nemeth has found himself a good career in America, I know it's a poor league but he's doing well for himself.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 21:11:59
Mikel San Jose who plays for Athletic Bilbao used to be in our academy, he has done very well and has played some games for the spanish national team as well. Gabriel Paletta used to be in our academy as well, he hasn't done as well as Mikel San Jose but he has played for AC Milan and got 3-4 caps for Italy, he is curently at Atalanta on loan from Milan. Antonio Barragan was in our academy for a season but never got a chance, he now is a key player for Valencia, a decent RB.

Agree2 Disagree0

08 Nov 2015 05:03:30
Insua plays first team football in Germany for Stuttgart, alongside Sama who has not yet stated a lot of games.

It's difficult to say how some players would have developed if they had stayed on at Liverpool as their situation and exposure would have been different IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - to point out, with regard to Barragan, he was unhappy in England, which is why he went back.}

07 Nov 2015 17:23:53
Alexandre Pato? Hmm, that came out of left field.

This news/announcement came from the Corinthian President, Roberto de Andrade, who says we agreed a deal, in principle, to sign Pato for 14 million plus add ons for January. I don't know whether Roberto is trying to garner interest in Pato by using our name or is genuinely announcing to the Corinthian support that Pato will be leaving in January.

This deal, if it is even real, seems really strange to me. Why sign a player with a well known injury record when our strikers are already injury prone to begin with?

He doesn't have the best scoring record, last appeared for the Brazil national team in 2013 (Although the Brazil national team is a joke now. Dunga is easily manipulated by sponsers to pick his side. ) and his aforementioned injury problems go without saying.

I suspect Pato would find it rough in England compared to his native Brazil. The tempo, intensity and aggressive nature of the Premier League would eat him alive. I hope I'm wrong because I once remembered a young man who had the potential to be something special, but I would be concerned by this signing.

Now, I must admit, I haven't seen Pato since his days at AC Milan but I can't imagine he's set the Brazilian league on fire. I suspect I would have heard about that.

What's your opinion on this E. D?

Because I for one feel a little concerned.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - There has been no announcement by Andrade of this. Andrade is very, very keen to sell him of course. I have given my opinion elsewhere on it.}}

07 Nov 2015 17:47:53
At least two news agencies are using quotes from this de Andrade guy Ed002. I have read what you shared, and I hope this is false information or posturing on Corinthians part to garner interest in him. I cannot imagine he would last a match in England with his injuries and fitness issues. Needless to say this would be one of the strangest deals, and we have done some strange, if it happened.

Agree3 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - You will need to tell me which "news agencies" these are AG.}

07 Nov 2015 19:24:13
He looked a real talent when he was younger, such a shame to see it go this way for him.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he was awful, I watched him a lot and I never understood the hype. He was big and strong but his touch was never good enough and he was never the best trainer. I remember him facing us in the world club cup thing, the media went on about him for weeks and he offered nothing.}

08 Nov 2015 06:20:06
Ed001 I mean this with no disrespect but surely you have something stuck in your eyes if you say Pato doesn't have a great touch. His ball control and dribbling is actually very good.

Many supporters didn't want Benteke for the same reasons saying his touch is poor etc but some things people say are just myth because of how they view a certain player. Maybe you listened too much to the hype on Pato and therefore judge him not for the player HE IS but the (had been) hype about him.

It's also for that reason a lot of European's and also British don't really rate Sterling that highly. They don't just see what they see but also cross analyse it with nonsense that has nothing to do with the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have watched him a lot, his touch is not great, sorry but you even agreed when you said it was very good, which is far from great! He is a very average player, who they are desperate to offload because he is so average.}

07 Nov 2015 17:15:50
Is Sheyi Ojo developing well enough to be fighting his way towards the 1st team next season?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

07 Nov 2015 17:31:00
He doesn't seem to be getting many starts at Wolves which won't help him. He shouldn't have been loaned there IMO but he does get quite a few cameos off the bench and he does score so he is at least gaining some experience.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 17:34:39
Bit early I would say, but he seems to be doing ok so far not getting to much game time recently due to club issues.

I do like him though, fingers crossed for the lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 17:37:02
He is progressing, but I would say let him take his time. He has been a regular sub for Wolves so far, and his aim should be to become a regular starter next. As it stands, I don't think he is ready for the first team squad next season.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 15:41:35
anyone know how Suso's doing these days - is he playing regularly?

Also, does anyone else like the look of Matt Ritchie at Bournemouth? Looks solid to me.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

07 Nov 2015 16:20:51
Suso is struggling for game time at Milan.

Ritchie knows how to do one thing, cyt in and shoot, and is nothing special IMO. I rather we don't waste our time with him, and look at a higher level.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 16:39:29
Ritchie looks good in that team but a step up to us is a different matter.

We've seen it too many times with players stepping up, we need proven international players.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 16:43:55
Yeah, fair enough AG.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 17:50:01
I do get that Lavers but those players cost dough and may have better offers. Surely the best managers spot the talent before they become proven internationals - like Kenny did with Jordan Henderson. Or like Klopp did with Lewandowski. If you've played the game at a good level, like Klopp, then you know the type of players you want around you. Not saying Ritchie fits that model but I like him.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Ritchie offers nothing most weeks. He has a good left foot and a decent work rate, but that is it. Average player.}

07 Nov 2015 19:26:12
Agree, average.
We have lots of average players, we don't need anymore.
We need players with that extra bit of magic.

Agree3 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 19:49:12
We need to stop signing players that don't improve he starting 11. That should be our number one aim moving forward with transfers under Klopp.

Instead of signing Ritchie et al to only lay a handful of games as cover, give the gametime to a youth player already in the squad.

Aspas, Alberto, Borini etc - all signed with no real plan on how they will be used. Just adding numbers to the squad.

Summer should see a goalkeeper and a winger; both first team ready players that can work under Klopp and have the work ethic and ability to succeed.

Agree4 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 13:33:56
Hi Eds, ayoze perez is young, mobile, technical player who score goals when given a chance in any game. Any reason why he is not on liverpool's radar?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - It is exactly the same reason as Borja Iglesias is not on Liverpool's radar.}

07 Nov 2015 17:20:09
Fair enuf. But Ayoze is bpl proven and he fits the profile fsg is looking for isn't it?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - What "profile" would that be?}

07 Nov 2015 17:40:35
I don't think Ayoze Perez is PL proven, but 10 goals in 46 PL appearances is not too bad, and he does work hard. Does he remind you of a certain Italian we sold to Sunderland last summer?

Agree0 Disagree1

07 Nov 2015 11:46:31
How lucky are we here? We are in the parallel universe where Jurgen Klopp actually became manager of Liverpool FC!

Would he have been ready/available to come to us at any other time in the last 3 years?

Or was Rodgers 3 year's tenure necessary for events to transpire that JK would take the role?

Can i make a polite request that posters now stop spinning every positive thing JK does to have a dig at how Rodgers did it? He is gone. End of.

Oh and I have looked up the meaning of the word banter, and constantly belittling an ex-employee is not it. Let's move on.

Believable6 Unbelievable13

{Ed001's Note - it is not always about that, it is about pointing out how much better things are now. How do you do that without comparing it to the previous regime?}

07 Nov 2015 12:59:29
Well it seems that Ed001 differs with Ed002 here, as Ed002 wants us to move on from the past. Not stirring things up, just saying this as I got on the wrong side of Ed002 this last week and we can't all be right.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - how is it differing? I am just saying it is not always a dig at Rodgers to mention how things have changed.}

Let's suppose we finish in the top four and Flanno and Sturridge are both back and playing well And fit! . Rossiter has signed a new contract and he and Teixera are both looking good when they get games. Ibe has continued to improve and our defence looks much more secure.

Juergen says that next season he expects to see two or more of our youngsters break into the first team.

FSG say to Jurgen that the money is available to sign one top top player: who do you go for?

My first thought is Lewandowski given that the hardest thing in football is to put the ball in the net on a regular basis but what do you guys think?

Believable2 Unbelievable10

07 Nov 2015 13:02:02
A really top keeper is a pretty urgent need, but the sad truth is that sturridge will probably never stay fit long enough to play a meaningful number of games, and benteke gets injured regularly, it has to be a top class proven and prolific striker for me.
But where on earth do you find one of those creatures?

Agree4 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 14:03:13
Klopp is known to shun established stars. So lewandowski is out. He like undiscovered gems or those that need polishing.

A keeper or centre back to partner Sakho.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 14:50:09
aubameyang for me. how he is allways overlooked is beyond me! That has nothing to do with klopp. Just like watching him play quick and exciting!

Agree1 Disagree2

07 Nov 2015 16:22:22
"Sturridge is fit".

Why do you want another finisher? Ings is a great backup. I think a fit Sturridge is a better bet than Lewandowski because Sturridge has done it in the premier league.

Defence is where we have problems. Either a central defender or a keeper or defensive mid.

Agree3 Disagree2

07 Nov 2015 16:32:04
I think Ings is going to turn it on for us next season. Him and Benteke with a decently trained Origi. We will certainly have goals in us. With or without Sturridge.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 20:40:59
We have no chance what so ever of signing Lewandowski. He would cost north of 50 million € and wages of over 200 000 £ a week and if Bayern made him available something they won't do, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona, PSG would all look to sign him, we can't compete financially against those teams.

Just want to apologise to those who enjoy the podcasts. Since coming back from holiday we are in the process of changing internet provider. Onto fibre majiggy thing, so have no net till the 16th😓
For when we are back on, is there any topics you'd like to hear ed001 and I discuss? Gutted we didn't get to do the Chelsea game!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - my throat is still recovering from cheering the goals, it has been so long since I had to do it that many times in one match my throat was not up to it!}

Im gutted. but that can only be a good thing. 16th seems along time away, does that mean an extra long podcast 😊. Keep up the good work gents!

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 20:55:03
Ha don't worry about it too much Ben. We all know it can be difficult for you guys to get round to doing them naturally. Ed with your throat like that. It could potentially happen again at anytime now so best be prepared. But answering your question. I reckon a general discussion on your thoughts of the whole change. Klopp and his staff. The use of the team and rotation. The impact he has made and how he has managed to wrap the media around his finger along with many fans too. But growing on that, talk about individual players and how you see they will progress under klopp. Ibe, Can spring to mind and how they are developing. Do you see that continuing through the whole team and where could these players go on to become? Could be a few players, their just a few atm. Also talk the reverse. How Milner is proving a failure almost. Is skrtel still poor or is he turning it round. Mingolet? Just a general consensus really.

Sorry if that confusing. But hopefully could be a really interesting and full podcast.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 09:49:27
Hi Eds, quick question, don't know if its stupid one and the answer is simple but here goes anyway. If the Liverpool team weren't arriving back from Russia til 4 in the morning, there won't be training on Friday surely. If that's the case, wouldn't it have made sense to stay in a hotel, have a good nights rest, fly back late morning and then another good nights rest so rejuvenated for training Saturday?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - It is simply a plane ride away - no benefit to be gained from doing that. Players are like babies and puppies and can sleep during the day.}

07 Nov 2015 10:35:35
The game didn't finish until nearly 11pm Russian time, the players wouldn't have slept until the early hours anyway. They could train late Friday afternoon.

07 Nov 2015 09:03:43
Ojo for me is the one I see coming through in the near future.
I know we have senior players for his position but this kid was excellent and has had a good spell on loan.
2016 is his time to shine.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

07 Nov 2015 00:32:31
Hey ed001

It seems that our academy has had quite a load of young talent recently. Just watched footage of Ryan Kent with his goal yesterday and his nutmeg, and then some academy footage on youtube. Really talented guy. On top of him, we've had Flanagan, Ojo, Brannagan, Ibe, Teixeira, Rossiter, Sinclair, and more I've forgotten about or just don't know. Sure, some of these players were brought from other clubs, but they still continued academy development at Liverpool nonetheless. Maybe not every single one of these players will become a star, but the potential is there.

Do you think the quality of our youth production line is quite above par at the moment, or is this normal for a lot of clubs? And who do you rate as the biggest prospect out of all those names mentioned?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is one of the best in Europe at the moment, which is something Rafa can take a lot of credit for, as he brought in the guys who revamped it initially. Without doubt, the overall level is the highest I have ever seen at Liverpool. The problem is the difficulty for any one player to stand out, as they are all at a much higher level than in the past. In the past we had one player head and shoulders above the rest, who would then get nurtured with great care because they stood out. Now the club struggles to cope with all the good players coming through.}

07 Nov 2015 04:14:45
I agree, lots of players that have potential for regular first team in the future, particularly Rossiter, Chirivella, Ojo, Brannagan, Canos, Gomez, Illori, Teixera among others.

Hopefully Klopp is going to be a particularly positive influence in helping bringing them through in a measured way. Agree with Ed 2 we probably need a better and more structured way to approach development loans.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 06:51:23
I reckon the likes of Southampton and West Ham get more credit for their youth partly because they are much more reliant on them, i. e. they don't have the same budget to spend money on players, and instead cherry pick from their talented academy. Perhaps also because quite a few of their graduates have gone on to star in teams elsewhere, e. g. Bale, Walcott, Lampard, J. Cole, plus many many more.

I agree, that's the thing these days Ed. We recruit so many external players that once we step back and look at our squad, we find it hard to find room for any academy graduates whom let alone are difficult to find a standout amongst.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 07:06:24
Hello Ed
I would like to ask about Axel Ingelthorpe. He has been two years in Liverpool as Academy Director, so it is enough time to judge. I really liked Borell, we see fruits of his work today in many players mentioned above. Do you think Axel improved something in our academy, can we expect similar quality players in the future? Thaks for your reply.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Alex has been there two years, you are right, but you are wrong in that it is not enough time to judge. It takes about ten years for the full effect of a change in an academy to really show itself. So far he seems to be doing well, but it will be a while before we know how well and if things are improving, which they seem to be, or not.}

07 Nov 2015 07:25:40
Thanks Ed, I understand your point. So we will wait and see. But I am also satisied that you see his current work as good job done. I think academy is one of the most important factor of successfull club and I would not like to lose it in Liverpool. The other problem is the loan system of our youngsters but I believe we will improve in this area as well. YNWA.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is the big weakness, our loans. We have made a complete mess of those so far.}

07 Nov 2015 10:31:50
This is where we need to give the youngsters a chance.

Some won't step up to the level of playing for Liverpool but others will.

Gomez didn't brilliant for me worth off a chance a long with teixera.

if we don't give these kids a decent run in the starting 11 then we will never know if they can make it.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 12:51:46
We all want to see youngsters break through but it's really tough for the richer teams. You look at a player and think 'in three years time this player may be good enough for the first team, do I bring in a fully matured player now to do the job or put this youth player in and hope he makes it? '

Clubs need success now so they'll always bring in ready to play talent. Texeira seems pretty good but whose place is he going to take to get game time? Coutinho's? There's no way we drop a proven talent for a youngster.

Gerrard and Sterling got into the team because they were better than who we had or who we could get, even as untested youngsters. Carragher was good enough to be a first team player playing regularly in different positions (fullback) and proved he was good enough to take over from Henchoz when the time came.

I very much doubt that Texeira will make it at Liverpool, he's good but he's not an improvement on anything we already have.

Agree1 Disagree3

07 Nov 2015 16:26:14
I think Tex is absolutely an upgrade on what we already have.

He has composure, he's a passer like Alonso and Molby. He has a certain amount of "grace" when he's playing and looks like he has all the time in the world.

Which of our midfielders has that? Lallana? Milner? Hendo? Lucas? Can?
I'm not counting Couts or Firmino because they are more forwards than midfield passers.

Tex is a link up player. He is a fraction away from starting regularly IMO.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 16:45:03
Muscatred

It is hard for players to break through at bigger clubs because it's easier to go out and buy.

Sterling brought us speed but I still believe a few years back that if we had bought konoplyenka in the January then sterling wouldve seen his game time drop.

Teixeira may not be better than what we have but he's a young lad who with game time will improve and may be better than what we have.

I know it's hard but if you don't try them how will you ever know.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Nov 2015 17:22:06
Hey Lavers. I agree in principal but it's easy for us to say give him a game, it's not our neck on the line if it doesn't work. If Coutinho leaves tex may get a chance but otherwise I see no route to the first team.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's especially hard when you have such a bloated squad.

We've seen it year after year buying players for the sake of it and bloaking the route to the first team for young players.

I know a lot of the young players won't make it but for some like teixeira give him games in the cup he didn't disgrace himself last time out.

I think we're all forgetting there's a certain amount of rotation required in cup games. Teixera will hopefully get his chance in those, as will others. Overall I like the way Klopp seems to be doing it, namely rotating a small number of the team at a time, so we give 1st team players a rest every now and again but the overall team stays strong and youngsters get to play in s nearly full strength side with plenty of experience around them.

Teixeira is an upgrade on Joe Allen.

Hope I don't get bashed too much, especially from ed001, but is it me or has Mignolet's delivery improved? I was tired last night so I could be wrong! Could I?

{Ed001's Note - not sure his delivery has improved, he does look a lot more confident though these days, which makes a huge difference.}

He'll kick it in a general direction but won't necessarily find his mark too often. So i'd agree with ed, before he wanted to use defenders too much maybe because he wasn't confident. since recent times he has been kicking with less pressure on himself which is making a difference.

I only managed to catch the second half yesterday (poxy Sky Sports pause button only allowed 45 mins) .

I thought Frimino's touches were really good - different class sometimes.

Also good to see Jordan Ibe starting to find some form.

Its good to start enjoying football again - not thinking what the f*** is he doing picking players like that / playing that way.

The way Klopp is with the team is amazing as well - I really couldn't be happier with his impact - we look a different team now and improving on things game on game!

{Ed007's Note - Ooofffttt it's a good job you didn't see the first half! ;)

First half wasn't that bad, we just looked a little disjointed is all.

Could be worse though, eh Ed007?

{Ed007's Note - I was only pulling his leg, I only seen some highlights of it.}
