The sooner we start using Suso the better. After all he is Robbie Fowler's son!!!
Dutchmal

I get yah

jesus aka suso
fowler aka god

I must admit i was sat there thinking, Fowler's son, who is this clown! Then the penny dropped, son of god...very good.

I agree everytime i watch his games on LFC.tv i can't wait to see him walking out with the first team. Times might be grim at the moment but the future is bright the future is red.

£50M lose as follows:

£35M spent on Stanely park project
£8.4M spent to terminate Roy hodgson contract
£18M Debt interest reduced to £3m per year
And most important £25M warior sponsor not included
Source:official site
So we are not in Dire financial as some eds have been saying here

That would suggest its an 85million loss...
Manno

Manno this is for you

Liverpool have announced loses of almost £50 million for the past year, citing failed plans for a new stadium and pay-outs to former boss Roy Hodgson and his outed staff as the major cause.

£35 million of the loss comes from the ill-fated HKS-designed Stanley Park project that was the brainchild of former owns Tom Hicks and George Gillet.

A further £8.4 million was contributed to contract determinations of Hodgson and his staff, along with former managing director Christian Purslow.

Along with a few further losses, the total of £49.4 million in the red comes after new owners Fenway Sports Group wiped out debts of £200 million with their October 2010 purchase of the team.

New managing director Ian Ayre said the accounts were in good shape and the extraordinaryť expenditure of the past year won't need to be repeated.

He is quoted;

I guess people will focus on the loss of £49.4m and there's no business “ or people running any business “ who are going to be pleased with any loss,ť.

But I think the important indicator here is this £59m charge for exceptional items and as a business that's been in a transition, it's about moving from where we were to where we want to be.

We have written off a huge amount on the stadium project. A big chunk of that £50m loss relates to the HKS project “ which is now defunct “ and associated costs around that.ť

Fenway Sports Group scrapped the ambitious steel and glass design for a new ground at Stanley Park as soon as they took over the club  but have still had to pay out legal, planning and design fees and other associated costs.

With new ownership that was kind of milling around within the club's accounts and there was a very definite need to move that out,ť said Ayre.

It is a huge loss but that goes with a lot of other things that nobody was really happy with in that period.

So rather than dwell on it, we've very smartly made the decision to remove it from the club's accounts.

It is a big write-off but it means that it's gone forever now and we can move forward now without that around our neck.

And it also means that we are in pretty good shape in being a sustainable business. It's a positive step forward.ť

Speaking on the Roy Hodgson dismissal after just six months, Ayre insisted this was a highly unusual situation and they have a past record of sticking with managers for lengthy periods.

It's nothing untypical of anything in football. Contracts are typically fixed term,ť

When you make a decision to terminate somebody, the right and proper thing to do is honour the pay-out of that contract.

This relates to Roy and to some of his backroom staff and also to Christian Purslow leaving. It's standard across football.

It's unfortunate to have to have them “ nobody wants to see anybody go “ but in certain circumstances it's right to make a change and that's what that relates to.ť

The future is bright, insists Ayre, as the figures do not include the recent kit deal signed with US sports company American Sports, which will bring in £25 million a year and the fact that Liverpool will be competing in the Europa League again next season.

If we had not written off these extraordinary costs, we would have been looking at breaking even,ť

We have reduced interest charges from £18m to about £3m. That puts us in a much stronger position to utilise our revenues more effectively on the team.

These figures in many ways represent the commitment of the owners, in paying down the acquisition debts and in other areas.

What is reflected in these accounts was going on around the time they actually came into the club.

It's not where we are today. It's a year on, so it was a big commitment at an early stage

The owners have continued to make changes and commitments.

They have made some great investment at the start; they cleaned up a lot of what was a problem at Liverpool and they have invested in both the team on and off the pitch.

They continue to do that and look at what's right “ and what works and what doesn't work.ť

Hi Eds, any chance of Ivan Klasnic on a free? He's a great finisher and would be a great addition on a free imo.

Reo-Coker is also available, with Lucas out surely he'd be worth a look?

Haven't had anything posted in a while so i hope this makes the grade. As always keep up the great work! {Ed019's Note - as far as we know, there will be no free transfer}

ed watch out the South african keeper, what a talent . he make Brazil sweatin to find the net.

r-r

Khune? he is soooo good. the only problem is his height but the thing i like about him is where most keepers save shots with their palms and push the ball out he will actually catch it while making a side ways dive for the top corner.

Listen guys, I know the feeling is that FSG won't invest in players with inflated transfer fees. But that isn't the FSG model. They will invest, just not millions on players in their last few years of careers, Dempsey being the case, zero resale value. Daniel Sturridge £20m was also too great a risk as the chances of recovering the transfer fee down the line are slim. Had Walcott at £12-15m been available then this would have been a value for money signing and probably would have been sanctioned. We will be very busy in the transfer markets buying quality younger players with lower transfer fees, this is a positive approach tried and tested perfectly by Arsenal and Man Utd in recent times and LFC in the past and now the future. Believe; the future is very bright
YNWA Yorkshire red

FsG not Football lover they never going to use like Chealsea or City. they are businessman.

I think it's a good thing that FSG want players that will go up in value. When this is said a lot of people link it to becoming a selling club, it's not. If a player goes up in value it means we've got a player that became better.

You are a plank. We don't have the one of those clubs. Fsg are making amends from last years mishaps. They learned their lesson the hard way. Put yourself in their shoes. They've pumped a shed load of money into the club with no results and will now run the business more sustainably

How many fans really think FFP rules are going to be fair do you think clubs like Barca or Madrid or chelsea etc will be banned or UEFA will not risk to upset big clubs

Barça and Real Madrid both operate within their income. And Chelsea will probably minimise their over-expenditure to within reasonable amounts, therefore they will also not be banned.

Madrird , Barca have huge income. problem will be Chelsea , man City, Psg.

To above poster Barca or Madrid don't run their clubs within their income. Mate just try to find out before writing. They have got huge Debts and Barca are in huge financial problem that at one time they had to take loans to pay their players wages

To the poster saying barca are run within their income

FC Barcelona in financial trouble

Yesterday I wrote about the Balearic island club RCD Mallorca being banned by UEFA from its competitions for the 2010/11 season. And now could their big Spanish La Liga brothers FC Barcelona be following them soon?

FC Barcelona

When I wrote my blog entry I didn't know that FC Barcelona was facing this big a financial problem when I named them as an example of a big club who could face the axe due to the new financial regulations being put in place by UEFA for their club competitions. Now it will be interesting to see if UEFA asks for further financial details from FC Barcelona before confirming their place in the UEFA Champions League 2010/11 or letting them off with a warning that next year they would scrutinize them more thoroughly.

The new FC Barcelona president Sandro Rosell and his board of directors had asked Deloitte to carry out a new audit of Barcelona's financial figures and what has come out is simply put a disaster. The old audit showed a profit of 11 Million Euros only in June, while the new audit now suddenly shows a staggering loss of 77.1 Million Euros. Big Finacial trouble !

The new FC Barcelona audit showed operating income of 408.8 million Euros and costs of 477.9 million Euro compared with previous figures published under former president Joan Laporta of 445.5 million Euros as income and 429 million Euros as costs, the club published on the official FC Barcelona website (www.fcbarcelona.cat) yesterday.

And that FC Barcelona has a liquidity problem was known in late-June when the club was forced to seek a 150 Million Euro bank loan to cover for difficulties in their cash flow. One of the key problems was salary payments to their highly paid players.
And what makes the scenario even more scary is the fact that Barca's net debt has risen from 329 Million Euros to now an incredible 442 Million Euros.

Javier Faus, a FC Barcelona's vice president, said at a press conference, There is a structural problem. The sporting excellence of the past few years has not been reflected in excellence in economic management.ť

To the outside world it always seemed Real Madrid where the Spanish club spending loads of money on their Galacticos, while FC Barcelona was focusing on their youth development programme and buying players here and there to strengthen the squad. But when one now knows these figures and also knows that the club has already spend 40 Million Euros on bringing in Spanish star striker David Villa from FC Valencia and Adriano for 9,5 Million Euros from FC Sevilla for new players, then one also understands why the club had to sell Yaya Toure for 30 Millions Euros to Manchester City and allow Dmytro Chygrynskiy to return to Shakhtar Donetsk for 15 Million Euros to even out the clubs spending in the transfer market. But still the club is trying to lure Cesc Fabregas away from FC Arsenal with a big pay package and a hefty transfer fee for Arsenal. Can Barca actually afford it?

Also Barcelona shows the problems of Spanish club football. Spain is World and European champions plus their clubs are amongst the best in the world, but this success has been bought by the Spanish with money which they don't have. And if a club like FC Barcelona faces such problems with all the advantages they enjoys along with Real Madrid in that country then think about the smaller Spanish clubs. Spanish clubs have more then 3,5 Billion Euros in debt, the figure is growing by the minute, and new streams of revenue are unlikely to be found and TV rights revenue is at its peak. Sadly difficult times coming for Spanish football¦

I think it will take a decade to close the loopholes, the big "cheats" City, Chelsea, PSG may have found genuine income channels by then. Liverpool should sit pretty but I wish we'd sort the ground to leave a fall-back position. I understand FSG's thoughts that 15,000 extra seats won't generate as much revenue as good corporate strategy today. But in time, when Newcastle and Spurs make more every game we will end up falling behind. Give us a 65,000 stadim and we're safe.

All we need is for Gerrard to get injured playing for England,
I wish he'd give that up and concentrate on LFC.

Are you non-English?

The way he as played for us this season who cares shelvey should be in from the start anyway

If they get a good Bid they will sale. £500m is their target.

How the hell would you know? Hate statements like that...

Being a Liverpool fan IS

Standing outside the rediffusion shop on a cold Saturday afternoon nervously waiting for the score.
Running down my friends house with tears in my eyes after losing to Utd in 77 (devastated).
Terry Mcdermott's chip against Everton (pure genius)
Filling my bedroom wall with pictures of Dalglish, Hansen, Mcdermott, Ray Kennedy and Souness (Class)
Trying to phone Bob Paisley from my local phone box to congratulate him after winning the European cup in 77 at the age of 7.
Writing to "Jim'll fix it" asking to play a game against Liverpool at Anfield (Really thought he would reply, was gutted)
Listening on my transistor radio on a cold December night listening to John Motson commentate on Liverpool and some obscure Russian team (so exciting).
Dreaming the night before that King Kenny would score in the European final, and he did (my hero).
Rushing home on the bus after being made to work overtime so I could watch the European cup final, Heysel, sad sad night.
Almost wanting Liverpool to lose just to tell my friends "I dont support them cause they win all the time!"
Thinking King Kenny and Ian rush are the best partnership I had ever seen, devastated when Rushie left.
Watching John Barnes at Anfield taking Utd apart, pure class (what a player).
Coming home from my semi final win on a sunny Saturday afternoon in a great mood and hearing some news that Liverpool fans were fighting again (oh no).
Turning on the TV with the realisation of what was really happening, feeling hopelessness, despair, total sadness, anger, numb, at what was happening in front of me.
Opening the Sun and seeing the pictures on the center pages showing the faces of those poor soles and vowing never to read that trash again.
Seeing the flowers laid out over the Kop and wondering what the future held for our great club and the feeling of total sorry. I had a strange feeling at that point for the first time in my life football didn't matter anymore.
Watching King Kenny slowly falling apart and into despair, but defiantly walking through through the storm (a true hero)
Watching all of Liverpool play a small part in easing some of the pain at Wembly.
Watching in awe when "God" graced the fields of Anfield (what a player)
Meeting God in Majorca when he was 17, he was pissed all the time, even played five a side against him classic).
Olympiakos what a night, Steven Gerrard take a bow.
Being so nervous I thought the good lord make take me in the final minutes against Chelsea when Gudjonsson's shot flew past the post.
Ataturk Stadium, feeling sick, lost, depressed for 45 minutes and feeling adulation like never before at the end, crying when they showed the credits with the Beatles playing "in my life".
Never being tired of watching the champions league final always putting a smile on my face
feeling despair, hate, anguish at the state of the club after H&G
Feeling a warmth in my heart watching the King walk out at Old Trafford.
Struggling to watch the match on a Saturday on a rubbish web site streaming and stopping every time Liverpool attack.
Turning the match off 10 minutes from the end when the opposition score only to turn it on again a minute later to see if we have equalised, we rarely did.
Telling myself on a Saturday afternoon after Liverpool lost that I am not going to waste my time watching them again only to pick up the computer on Monday the check the rumours and then start looking forward to the next match.
Feeling sadness for the King after standing behind him at the Swansea dug out looking frail and drained - Good luck Kenny and thanks for the memories you are truly the King of the Kop.
Excited when Brendon took over, as ever feeling optimistic and excited as i was when I was 7 when Jimmy case struck that ball in 77 to make it 1-1.

Being a Liverpool fan is as Shanks once said being part of a big society with all your fiends around you.

Being a Liverpool fan is Being

Liverpool, never walking alone, always supporting the club

Whatever

I was sat in the car outside C&A in Chester waiting for the wife and listening to the radio when Liverpool re-signed Rush from Juventus. I threw the car door, jumped out , threw my arms in the air and shouted 'Yesssss'. All the shoppers stopped and stared. Then I shouted what had just been on the radio and people started smiling and blokes were punching the air. RED LENIN

Well Barry Sagna-Arsenal player has had enough he is one of many players in our league who are not playing for the club of their choice because they love it its because they thought they would win silverware but when they dont the hop on to the rolls royce going the other way, gerrard stayed and was rewarded with champions league which he had always dreamed of ,le tissier stayed and was rewarded with god like status ,there are not many like these but those few- which is very sad - are the ones we want playing for our club the ones who love our club ,love our fans, that know our history and what it means to play for liverpool i would rather have them than the torreses ,ronaldos, van persies and many others who would drop a team for money and status, thats why i believe BR will get it right with youth and players who love this club -SALLY-

Erm... Ronaldo left United in favour of a club that he loved since being a boy.

Totally agree, for me it was St Etienne in 77 still feel shivers thinking about that and me dad not letting me go to the European cup final in 78 coz I had a bloody physics exam the next day, for christs sake I ended up a mechanic dont need my physics o level gutted still (he gave his drinking mate my ticket so I kind of get it now!) great post

Oh sorry didnt realise i just thought he went to Madrid to extort 25 million a year - SALLY-

its scary thinking that the owners would not splash the cash to bring in dempsey who they really wanted.. come to think about it how will they act if, they dont know and want a player who could make us push for champions league.. yeah thats right liverpool is far from good

I would not believe a word FSG say. Ok, although it was the wrong decision by FSG not to put up for Dempsey, I can see they were sticking to their policy of not paying more than they think older players are worth.

However, they also said we have the money to compete with anybody for the right player. They knew we needed at least 1 striker and had 4 months to 'compete with anybody' to sign one but made no attempt.

John Henry, stick your open letters and tell the truth for once.

redmersey

Dempsey would not make the difference between 8th place and 4th.

In the long run it will probably be a good thing we never got Dempsey. It's forcing us to use players who otherwise may never get the chance. RED LENIN

07 Sep 2012 18:16:50
Why no postings?
Are all the Ed's on holiday?
Anyway,let's get down to it.
We are not going to sign anyone now as a free agent or whatever and i dont think we will spend very much in the January window either.
The new owners letter was an embarassment to every Liverpool fan in the world.
They control the money, there where plenty of strikers available or willing to leave their clubs right up until the last moment.
Obviously something went wrong with the Sturridge deal otherwise why would DiMatteo say as far as he was concerned he is still a Chelsea player but he would find out later after the super cup final.
He clearly thought he was going even after the game in Monaco as he could have signed even at that late stage subject to medical clearance the next day.
The Dempsey debacle was just farcical and i think the beginning of the end for these owners.
It is no use them coming out with these patronising soundbites about supporting the Manager and building for success when at the same time failing to release £3m to buy the managers top target during the summer.
It is also hypocritical to try and tell us that the cuts have not been about money when they sacked Kenny for getting to 2 cup finals, winning one of them, and without a wonder save would probably have won the other, saying even if he had won the FA Cup he still would have been sacked because we never qualified for The Champions League, which is all about money.
If the owners think that we will be happy finishing fourth every year just to qualify for The Champions League and not winning anything they must be off their heads.
All the cut backs they have made both at LFC and The Red Sox smack to me as getting them ready for sale.
I hope not but it points in that direction.
By the way all those who slag Kenny off for spending too much and say the owners released all that money should look at the actual net spend counting money in and i think most people would be very surprised how little the owners have put in bearing in mind the income we have and where we want to be.
What do you think Ed's?

This site is less active outside of the transfer windows. {Ed019's Note - There are lack of posts, right}

why do fans think we will buy in jan ,idont no but if we only offered 3mil for dempsey on the last day ,i think that means weve got no dosh,so im wondering how are we gona buy .personally i hope im wrong but ican see the americans telling the manager to sell more players like cole downing & suarez before he can spend ..so put it this way we could be looking for new players & a new manager cause rogers wont stand for it & if he does well the americans might have found the YES MAN they,ve been looking for.,sorry for all the negatives but the americans are,nt filling me full of confidence

Dude what are u even saying...owners are sensible that no disrespect for keeny not like him go n make a panic by of 35mil worth carroll who is not even worth half of that..n its been only 3matches.......n u juding so much get out of football manager mode..its a rebuilding process n v dont have anything to atract big name to us ..so stop expecting vl sign big names...v have money but no big player wants to come right now...n br he clas look at our distribution n passing n creating chance..i agree v lack goal scorer but v r helpless to attract big name n trust me dempsey is not even that great that he will directly make u enter UCl...

Please and ffs, just calm down you lot, take a deep breath and quieten down.... its only been 3 EPL games, lets just wait and see.

At least give BR and co a bit of support and head space. Realistically, currently there is no better option available with a quick fix, though it would be nice if there was one, but just wait and see what transpires.

Sure, it could turn out to be a complete disaster or for sake of all it could turn out to be a pleasant surprise.

At least give BR 13 EPL games to manage the team and hopefully with good support before you make up your mind.

Ground share must not be off the agenda.
It makes sense for two top 10 clubs to do this if their both serious about challenging the big clubs.

Five years ago i'd have said no way, but now!

On one hand I don't want to share a stadium, and I want the tradition of Anfield to remain. On the other I picture the San Siro of merseyside...i think I'd be persuaded, but it would have to be spectacular, and the best stadium in England.

Expand Anfield screw a ground share with Everton, the grounds always been red seats and always will be!

As an American, I don't feel like I have a say on this one. For me, it makes perfect sense, but this should really be something for the people of Liverpool to decide.

Team that DESERVE and have earned the right to play the Sunderland game, maybe the poor performing players will get the kick up the backside they need if we play this team?

Doni/Gulacsi

Kelly Agger Skrtle Enrique

Allen Shelvey Sahin

Suarez Morgan Sterling

Subs: Reina, coates, johnson, Henderson, gerrard, assaidi/downing, yesil/Borini

The position where i've put an option of two players is due to the fact we haven't seen some of them play yet so whoever out of the two of them is performing best in training should get the place.

thoughts?

GP

Suarez doesnt deserve to start

So we aren't going to play our captain?

Sahin hasn't earned his starting spot yet. He wasn't good against the Arsenal and he still has some learning to do.

Morgan isn't better than ngoo let alone borini.

How have Doni/Gulacsi earned a place in goal?

Enrique pisses about far too much and has been getting caught out.

Well i can't really argue with that, i'm a little 50/50 about dropping reina as both these keepers haven't featured much. On merit i would perhaps squeeze coates in but skrtel and agger havn't done anything to merit getting dropped. i think Robbo has showed well in europe but you still need experience in which enrique has. I wouldn't drop borini for morgan. You are right though that if you were to pick a team on merit then it wouldn't be a million miles from that. Perhaps Hendo deserves a start?
derryred

Sorry, Morgan? Kelly over Johnson? And just how has Doni, wherever he is, earned a starting place? Are you high?

I see what your saying, but I wouldn't drop reina just yet.
I would start shelvey over gerrard for this game.
But I would start borini over Morgan.
I am all for dropping players that dont perform but you can only drop so many of your established players.
Borini just needs a goal, the effort is there.

MIKEY

Yesil looks like a far better player than Morgan. Just my opinion.

Elmo96

Yesil make me think about young Owen .

Yeah thats a point you'd start a keeper whos played championship last year and a keeper who is MIA over Reina, yes hes not been at his best but his distrubution is amazing. Kelly is good but lacks a finished article sometimes, Shelvey has come on leaps and bounds but vs hearts he was terrible couldn't pass a ball needs to become more consistant to start week in week out. Wouldn't drop Gerrard as he is a real leader. I'd personally not play Morgan yet needs to come on a bit more first, might of been loaned out if we had signed someone. Borini works hard and deserves his place I'd drop Suarez and give Yesil ago, might take some pressure of him and show him he has to work for his place.

Hi GP, I have a bit of time on my hands so I thought I'd take up your challenge. Here are my thoughts .. its too soon to think about dropping Reina; we have 3 great full backs but I feel Johnson defends better on the left so I'd go with Johnson on the left and Kelly on the right; Coates looks really good but Skerts and Agger are just about better. While Lucas is out Sahin gets a free ride in a holding role with Allen, don't know what I'd do when he's fit again if Sahin lives up to his reputation! Don't think Morgan is even close to starting, but we need greater attacking threat so I'd ask Captain Fantastic to start on the right up front, tho him and Suarez need to put some stickum on their boots as their first touch has been poor. Borini looks like he should be played in the centre not the wing, so he either starts there with Suarez on the left, or he's on the bench with Suarez in the middle and Downing on the left. At least that way we have a striker on the bench! Sterling looks great but I would use him regularly as a sub and wouldn't risk him starting every game. Starting eleven is therefore ..

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger Johnson
Allen Sahin
Shelvey
Gerrard Borini Suarez

Subs from: Doni, Enrique, Coates, Sterling, Henderson, plus maybe Yesil and Assaidi if they look good enough

What do you guys think?

Jarakedea

Play Borini in the middle and Suarez in the wide position, if you buy a striker ( Borini ) play him as a striker. reina been on a downward slope for a while, getting beat at his near post and not making routine saves that turn into goals BUT are the others good enough ???

My team Gk- reina (coz none of our rest of the gk had played recently )
Def- Johnson coz he had brilliant attack n defended ok) agger skrtel (but they need to be just like previous year not what they were in last3 games) n enrique
Mid - Allen, Gerrard ( but he was awful against arsenal had no clue what to do), Shelvey/Sahin
Strk - Suarez/suso on RF... Borini on LF n Yesil in mid or keep borini in mid and sterling/assaidi/cole on LF

Just read summary of Rodgers statement, telling players to "Man Up"... Well said in my opinion.. some of our senior players need to have a look at themselves and realise they've let the team, the manager and the fans down with some of their dismal displays.

also nice to see he does have faith in the youngsters!

I see him instilling the grit and determination sadly lacking in recent years, along with adding purposeful play!

El Diablo

Why don't you elaborate on the context in which it was said. It was about players takin knocks and not being a pussy about it. Your trying to say in general, don't make things up to suit your own agenda.
J.C

I see that in BR as well mate. He seems to have the balls to manage Liverpool, player power has held us back in recent years.

MIKEY

We are saying we want to play all our youngsters. Suso Sterling Yesil etc. We are also saying we want top 4 this season. If we are going to play youngsters then we may not get top 4 this season. Give them a 18 months. Next season we will be in a really good position if we go out & buy a proven goal scorer. We can't expect 18 year old strikers to get us top 4. Just be patient cause after 24 months Liverpool is going to be in position to win the league if we develop our youths patiently & correctly.

Were in 18th place mate

Nobody expects top 4 and it will not be achieved

Sterling suso are ready to be top players for us. I haven't seen much of yesil but apparently he is ready to.

We'll never win anything with kids!

Redpath

I cant believe your still talking about top 4 mate , tbh , i will be glad if we avoid a relegation battle , stay up , then start getting some good strikers into this club , we needed goal scorers for 5 years !!

Of course, you can't win anything with kids!!!!!

FT

If we can't expect 18 year old strikers to get us top 4 then we need to forget about top4. play the youngsters (we have little choice now anyway) and play the best we can and build for the future around our youngsters. We might still get top 4 anyway with the pressure off and the youngsters fighting spirit.
Like Rodgers said the youngsters will play through a barbed wire fence. Older players will look for a hole.

MIKEY

" you can't win anything with kids"... I believe that's the quote of all time.

So who knows

Doesn't mean he wants to play them in league games probably cup matches

Sounds strangely like Alan Hansen and the whole "you'll never win anything with kids" thing

Bazingaa

We have had some very good 17-18 year old strikers in the past, why not now?

Disagree 1997/98 season Michael Owen (sorry for swearing) was eighteen years old. Admittedly nineteen years old december 14th that season. He/it scored 18 league goals in 36 league appearances and we finished third in the league. Redevon

But doesnt buying a proven goal scorer cut the chances of a youngster getting in the first team?

Mike B

We're in 18th, its a pity there is only 3 games to go isn't it.

Wtf people saying forget about top 4 because of our first 3 games?! Look at arsenal last season

Just out of interest how old do you have to be to score goals in the premiership?

Ground Share
60,000 seater
Hotel,conference centre, etc
Named the Mersey Stadium sponsored by"......"

Agree Disagree

It makes financial sense to me

Pistol Pete

For me new stadium is not a good answer, yeah I understand there's higher demand of tickets blah blah! By history of the club is anfield! I wouldn't want Liverpool to become the new arsenal at emirates!

I want sod all to do with those bitter, horrible bluenoses! Why should we enable them to survive? No chance!!!

Sid

Or the delusional dome !

Much love

Sponsor may want thier name 1st . and Liverpool want to keep anfield name too .

Only if we can make it a really soulless dome with tons of fast food outlets and expensive seating

Carlsberg....

Bitters got a wooden ground let them stick with it . the whole idea of your own holy ground is you have an identity, with a shared you dont.

alan waddle

It's gonna happen lad. I've said it for ages. Accept it people. The club will 'butter-up' the supporters with surprise signings at some point in preparation for the news. Agree or disagree I couldn't give a shabite but we need to accept it. Everton are desperate though.

DaveyBootle

75 to 90,000 it would need to be at least no point ground sharing for a 60,000 seater just.
belfast red adam

To those who don't want to help the bitter blues, we are helping ourselves... To those who want it to be called anfield, its not anfield it's a new stadium with new memories with a nod to the old, the memorial of course and the gates. And finally those that don't want emirates.., have you seen that magnificent stadium and the income it generates.. The year is 2012, we need a new century stadium if we are going to survive...
Pistol Pete

I wouldn't like a groundshare with Everton, but a sponsor isn't an awful proposition. It could be, "Standard Chartered at Anfield," or "Standard Chartered's Anfield." Then again, wherever Liverpool play their home matches will be known as Anfield for me anyway.

07 Sep 2012 16:29:25
One good thing that may come out of having a thin squad, is that it cant be harming us financially to have a reduced the wage bill. Let hope the savings will be invested back into the club soon

And hopfully like sterling, suso ect... Will get a chance to show what they can do...
Rickblfc...

of course its going to hit us financially what happens if we get injuries and stuff, then are league position will suffer and dont forget each position in the league is worth about 700 grand so having a thin squad is dangorous {spelling} but clowns like you just cant see that can you god people wake up.

About 500,000 a week

Yeah, don't try and have a bit of optimism mate. Just cry your eyes out and sulk on here like most of the muppets.

rodgers has an intresting managerial style, fist get rid of everyone who can score i.e. bellamy, kuyt ,carrol,
then wait till the last minute of the transfer deadline then panic and try to get a replacement. doesnt it make sense?

Those 3 where hardly prolific for us last year. Bellamy wanted to leave, kuyt was no longer doing it for us anymore and Carroll was never going to get played.
You can't blame him for getting rid of those 3. May as well just free up their wages.

MIKEY

In all competitions last season

Bellamy scored 6
Carroll scored 9
Kuyt scored 5

Hardly prolific is it?

Carroll couldnt hit the side of a barn and Kuyt was no goalscoring machine last season either. What the hell are you talking about?

BrisbaneLFC

You obviously haven't been following the facts of recent events. Try tuning in before posting - Doesn't it make sense?

BR plan to Bring Dempsy and asking Price is £5m . Dempsy want to join US too and BR is confident Dempsy deal will be done. but somthing is missing in our top management

FSG are the ones who refused to pay an extra 3 million for dempsey , they are the ones responcible for this awful mess we are in , and if we get relegated , which is on the cards !!
its FSGs fault
I support BR , and i support LFC
i dont support FSG
FSG out !!

You might wanna double check on when Kuyt left!

19 goals gone .will Borini score them

Didn't 5 of AC's goals come in cup play against teams like Nether Wallop and Ottery St. Catchpole?

Adrian Durham of slagging Liverpool off again this afternoon.

Adrian Durham has a face on him like a burnt out sofa.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

He does it cos he knows Arsenal and Liverpool fans will bite.. When he slags off Man U or Spurs, their fans phone in and agree with him.. So he plays devils advocate and gets the calls in that make the show entertaining and i use that term Loosely!
Durham slags us off tonight.. by next week he will be arguing we will win the league! The Bloke is just doing his job.. wind up merchant!
ItsNotRocketScience

BTW the one on that really cant stand Liverpool is Mark Saggers! He will slag us off at every opportunity and never gives and inch when anyone trys to argue otherwise.. at least with Durham he wil argue in our defense when the story suits him!

It's true, rest of the clubs have crap support and nobody is interested. We may not be winning but we make the news, that makes us still a big club. Cheers Ginger nuts!

Again coming high up in the world of FSG. Subject of the new ground some people think its gone quiete on this subject but it hasn't. Ground naming rights have already been discussed and narrowed down to three possibles that are willing to pay the right money. The ground share discussion is still a favoured rout for FSG as it make good financial sence but selling it to both sets of fans may be a stumbling block you could find your selves sitting in a white seat though in three years so put that in your e/diary. The new look stadium has been tweeked to tale into account a ground share but can also be tweaked if this doesn't go ahead any more up dates ill pass them on.    G Baker

The team needs to improve to get thousands of more fans to go an watch which will not happen in the near future.

hi eds, just got back from holiday and i havent been on for over a week so i appologise if any of this has been brought up previously but what the hell happened on deadline day loaned our only other striker out without a replacement that just seems crazy surely they should have made sure we had someone ready to come in before doing so either the owners or rodgers has made a huge mistake we have only 2 main strikers and suarez cant seem to hit the target and borini is getting played out wide where he is really struggling i hope he does alot better played through the middle or i feel we could have another flop on our hands. we're going to struggle to find goals and when we do get to january teams are going to know we really need a striker and bump the transfer fee up. enough of the negative onto the positive joe allen looks at home in our midfield i must admit i was abit of a doubter but hes definetly won me over and sterling what a player he is going to be everytime he gets the ball we look alot more dangerous. sorry for the long post but its a weeks worth built up {Ed002's Note - Read the posts over the weekend.}

How true are the rumours regarding Fernando llorente come to us in January? He has had words with Alonso and.Torres. Thanks. {Ed002's Note - There is no agreement for Llorente.}

Yeah he had a chat with torres and he couldnt stop bigging us up!!!!!!

Alonso and torres left because we had no ambition, why would they recommend us to a top class striker?

"I might end up playing in england. I am currently in Bilbao, but who knows what happens. Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres have told me about the great respect that fans have for their players"

- It doesn't mention us at all, it's a general statement in reference to english clubs.
- It's from an article posted on kop talk. Rubbish site with one jaimie kanwar who's completely untrustwothy at best.

In other words, highly unlikely he'll be coming to us in January.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

'Alonso and torres left because we had no ambition'

...Go away & come back when you really know why the above gentleman left.

Alonso didnt leave coz of lack of ambition. he was pushed out by benitez. Torres however did move on to win trophies, n has succeeded.
Indian Buzzer

Both players felt the club lacked ambition, felt there weren't enough quality players being brought in and felt they would win more/better medals elsewhere. Both have been proven right.

It's not always some big conspiracy you know!

Hi Ed's,

What are you thoughts on the Liverpool documentary airing this month showing the past few months of business at LFC?

Personally I think it could be a huge mistake, but I'm hopeful given that we have final pre-approval we won't show too much negative content. Then again that might be me being too optimistic....

{Ed002's Note - Like those that preceded it I would imagine it is a pretty trite item that will enthrall some. No doubt someone will pick up on statements made by the owners during interviews or one of the managers, disect them, misinterpret them and then argue about them for weeks after.}

The more I see all these talks from our non performing top earners about how we need to calm down, the more I get really upset

These are the same guys who constantly give the ball away and don't even bother to track back and defend during matches, and after pocketing thier fat pay cheque, they rush to the press to spit some lame sh*te about how we need not panic.

At any rate, what's the guarantee that these same bunch of non-performing veterans would do any better in our next games seeing as we have carried our poor form from the 2nd half of last season into this season?

Yes its only three games into the new season but that's with just 2 goals scored, 7 conceded and a massive 8 points dropped already, hence the need for a change in tactics.

I mean what's the point in having wide men and midfielders in the team who pose no goal threat while we concede bocket loads? Just get these lads into box to score goals rather than hugging the side lines where they are largely ineffective

Burger Stain.

Agree totally. And the same players have been doing it for the past few seasons !

Don,t Panic
We must improve
We'l put it right..........after every pathetic performance!

So, after 3 games, we change the tactics. Then what happens because these non-performing top earners / veterans still won't perform. Do we change tactics again? And again?

I'll tell you what upsets me.'fans' like you who after 3 games don't get behind our team. We were one down against West Brom after a lucky / speculative goal. Agger gets sent off, penalty. 2 down. No realistic way back. Against Man City, Skrtel's mistake was simply down to a need to understand the new system. He should have cleared rather than passed it. Against, Arsenal we started well. Your points are for this game are valid. Get a goal early on and kill teams like Arsenal who are strong.

We've probably started the season with our fair share of bad luck (conceeded penalties and not gained some that should have been. Silly mistakes because of the new system) but there are clearly issues that need to be addressed. But changing tactics? Sorry, but no...

Kicking it back to the goalkeeper every 2 minutes is driving me nuts. Surely this kind of strategy is asking for trouble. 2 cock up's in three games they need to stop it right now. Brendan are you reading this? Yes start the play from the keeper but stop passing back to him, it is tactical suicide. If all of your players and goalkeeper are technically gifted and have excellent ball control Tika Taka is brilliant. We do not have technically gifted players with excellent ball control therefore they will make a dogs dinner of it!

Swansea managed it (passing it back to the keeper as you put it). And I'd argue that our team is far more technically gifted.

The new system and style of play will take time to perfect, but Swansea proved last season that when it's done you can perform greater than the sum of your parts.

Sure there might be a few hiccups along the way, but have some patience!

Raoul

Right a call to arms is needed i think.....
Every time you pick up a newspaper or read the online sport sections of certain anti Liverpool press you find one thing...The whole thing opened up for debate and every man and his dog doing us down and convincing themselves that we are now a small to mid table club.....
Well guess what....we are NOT small club or a mid table club we are Liverpool football club, famous for fantastic European nights of football and winning things, even in the face of adversity and changes happening at our beloved club we still manage to eek out a trophy or two along the way.....
I for one am tired of hearing these other supporters doing us down and its high time instead of grumbling about the owners and complaining about the transfer strategy etc that we got on with giving this great club all the support it needs, we have hope and we have a manager that at last wants to give the youth players a go which everyone was calling for in the last 2-3 years,
If we sit back and complain and only shout up the good stuff when it comes around then it makes us no better than the plastic supporters of clubs with no history that are claiming to be world class now sugar daddy has taken over and run the bill up,
5 European cups = Big club
Do the club a favour and bring back that famous Anfield support before its gone forever

The Guv'nor over and out. YNWA

The Guv'nor indeed. Let's hope the moaners open their ears...

If the Liverpool's fanbase & history are harnessed & managed in the correct way, then it will be impossible for us to be anything other than a very, big & successful club.

"We are coming, Expect us"
Loving the new warrior add.
Better than "We come not to play"

These Warrior ads are embarrassing, "This is just the start" posters going up after the WBA game, "Will you be gods" posters when the whole world is talking about how poor this squad is?

I wish they'd just pack it in!

We come not to play is indicating that we are Serious.

Expect what ?
lack of penetration ?
lack of creativity ?
lack of goals ?
instead of spending money on silly adds they should be spending cash on strikers !!

Some clarity on the stadium issue.

We will not unviel detailed plans or annonuce final capacity because that question will never be answered.

The Anfield project will evolve as the Club and its global commercial activity evolves. Expect us to stop paying the lease on the Stanley Park site soon. The club is waiting for all housing on the footprint to be secured before any initial phases are carried out.

So expect slow affordable expansion that will not bring the burden of debt but rather bring the advantage of rapid revenue.

So dont wait for a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT, it will be family zone, new boxes, new match day packages, marquee tent. We will squeeze every ounce of revenue from what we have and year on year an extra section will be added upon , a few thousand seats. We will grow as we comfortabily and profitably reach capacity.

So it will be comfortable stages a process that ebs and flows with the future of the club.

We have an established advantage in revenue terms that few clubs can match and that many can only envy,a massive global fanbase.

Our model can deliver sustainability and success. Look at Dortmund, dont gamble the future on expensive high wage players, do what Klopp did have a strategy buy young talent cheap and win smart.

We have to acknowledge early mistakes a wasted 18 months but now we can build but we need faith and yet again no small ammount of patience.

Very good post.
Must a Liverpool fan, you are talking sense.
Not like those Bitter Blues and Mancs trolls who blight our site

Amen brother

long live the king

"year on year an extra section will be added upon , a few thousand seats."

This is incredibly cost inefficient, and I would be very surprised if this is what is happening, due to the owners financial prudence. It is a lot cheaper to do one big expansion rather than lots of little ones.

This is because to expand, you have to disassemble something, expand, and then put it back together. It would be a large waste of money to keep taking things apart and putting it back together.

This is the way mate

What a load of rubbish! As someone who works in the finances of construction do you realise what a load of b******s you have written. It would be so cost inefficient to build 'a section at a time' not to mention the red tape involved with permissions to work which are required for construction activites which cannot be ongoing for years but need a structured construction programme of works for CDMA compliance.

Also where are you going to play when you start carrying out further works, the public cannot enter a working site.

Good post my a**e.

The Truth Teller

I thought the whole point of moving to Stanley Park was because Anfield can't be expanded within its current footprint?

They refurbished Fenway Park over a period of ten years. It seemed to go smoothly. The MLB offseason is longer than the EPL, though.

So if it is FSG policy, to buy cheap (young players), develop and then sell on for a profit.
One can assume that they will follow the same route with LFC, namely buy cheap, reduce costs, add some value (sponsorships and deals) and then sell on.
So when may this happen, could be sooner than we think.
This policy does not allow for 'massive investment in any form of stadium (new or developed), so all the talk by FSG is merely a 'stalling tactic'.
So, I wonder who our next owners could be.
Clearly FSG are 'over extended' financially, and would be looking at all suitable offers.
Forget about the stadium, it will not happen under FSG's ownership, as they realise that they do not have the funds to do so.
So what we have are more 'stewards' rather than owners at present!!.

I think John Henry has been pretty clear that a new stadium makes little financial sense as the ROI is quite poor. Not sure what is so complicated about this? The math is pretty straightforward.

Stop mixing up the transfer policy of a rebuilding process with the companies over sports franchise strategy.

Getting tired of this whole 'develop and then sell on for a profit' noise that some ill informed are spouting.

I'm sure it is based tangentially on the rise of FSG. Henry had bit part purchases of lots of sports teams are he grew his business and his company. Finally he became sole owner of the Florida Marlins baseball in 1999, and sold them in 2002 in order to immediately buy the Boston Red Sox because he wanted to own a truly big and storied franchise. He's owned the Sox for 10 years now, still there, still wanting to win things. He has NOT bought LFC to make a profit in the short term in any way.

--
Henry became the sole owner of the Florida Marlins in 1999, purchasing the Club for $158m. In 2002 Henry sold the Marlins and Simultaneously, Henry led a purchase of the Boston Red Sox with partners Tom Werner John Harrington.

In 2004 they won the World Series, against his former childhood favorite Cardinals, and again won it in 2007.

He is also responsible for saving Fenway Park from the wrecking ball. The previous Red Sox owners had planned on building a new Fenway Park next door, but Henry chose to keep and renovate (including new seats over the Green Monster) the current Fenway Park, which celebrated its centennial in 2012. --

Ed's - great job during the transfer window fiasco, sorry it ended with so much frustration. I think BR will get the team playing his way very soon, the Arsenal game came on the back of dissapointing transfer window which I think must have had an effect on the players. Personally I think it's good we have a break during the international games, as it will give BR the chance to work with a number of younger players. Hopefully when the senior players get back (uninjured) the squad will begin to take shape and start to gel. It must be difficult changing the teams football philosophy, this has been evident int the opening games, as we still appear to be playing to many long balls. BR is right about being patient in the final thid, this was very evident against Arsenal. I still think Borini should play in the middle of the front three. He will find his feet in time, there is no dening he has quality. The defence is conceding to many goals and making silly errors and need to quickly adapt to BR's zonal marking system. Despite the poor start, we know we are capable as we should of beaten city. I trust BR and the owners to take this great club forward improve on last season. Be patient...YNWA

I have it from high on FSG that January is going to be very busy. There are going to be a lot of players going out the door this due to certain players unable to adapt to Brenden Rodgers way of playing and as he is thought of very highly by FSG and is hear to stay for a very long time these players need to go. FSG are also concerned about the wage bill so there will be younger players that are cheaper on the wages and also have a sell on value. This doesn't mean were going to turn into a selling club but we will be self sustainable. Carroll will be back and better than before with the playing time he will get and given ample opportunity. Don't be expecting massive name players this isn't the Liverpool way any more its back to the Shankly way make a player into a super star. Cit and paste this text into your e/dirarys and wait and see in January you heard it from G Baker

G. Baker as always your a dell end.
C.abraham

Only selling clubs worry about resale values for players. Look at the mancs with RVP. They only care about what a player will bring to the team, nothing else matters.

We might as well face it, we ARE now a selling club and can no longer hope to sign the worlds top players.

Morning ed002! Do you have the figure FSg purchased Liverpool for? Was it £263 million? Also, these cutting in wages! How much will it ruduce the wage bill by? Roughly! Cheers

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - It was £300M plus costs.}

The second part ed002? Or you not care to speculate? Also a previous post (5th sept 17.22) you mention the Warrior deal bringing in an extra £12 million, but the Standard Charter deal down £5 million! Why? Maybe im missing something obvious. Cheers anyway.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - I have not seen details but perhaps £20M.}

It was 240million

I think this is the season we finally promote all those promising youngsters and build the team around them for the future.
Give enough starts to the likes of yesil, Morgan, sterling, suso, Kelly, shelvey, robinson, Coates and the like and we have one hell of a team in the making.
Next season all of the above could potentially be starters. They will play together the Liverpool way and be very loyal to Liverpool and each other.
Reminds me a bit of how united brought all them youngsters though. (they are still reaping the awards)
And also the way barca bring through so many young players.
It's also the way so many liverpool fans have wanted for so so long. Gerrard and Owen where just about the only decent players to come through the accedemy in the last decade or so. Now look at us. Producing half a team that will probably make the grade.

Thats what this season is about for me. Promote as much youth as possible to be ready for an automatic start next season.
You don't need city's millions when you can tailor make your own superstars.

MIKEY

If i could press the agree button more than once, i'd probably press it a thousand times.

If we're going to struggle this season to get 5/6th, why not give them regular action?! Now is the time to act because otherwise next year we'd need to spend even more money that we don't have! Youth is the answer!

Mike in leeds

Thank god we still have some fans that have common sense. This is why we have invested heavily in our youth set up. We make our own legends at lfc. Sterling has shown he is ready now the other lads will aswell. The more quality we promote up the stronger we will become. Would you swap Sterling or Suso for Dempsey ? I bloody wouldnt

Should have got laudrup instead rodgers big mistake

Good Point MIKEY,

Never let the likes of Cole, Carragher, Downing let near first team ahead of the likes of Coates, Suso & Yesli.

Bosco

Mikey, I really think some fans don't see the bigger picture at all mate. Once these kids break through and make first teams regularly it'll be completely amazing to watch week in, week out. Why FSG and Brendan get blasted a lot on here is mind boggling at the best of times, fickle dipsticks really.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Another point I forgot to make is, the more players we produce ourselves the more transfer funds that are freed up for bringing in either really good world class players or more promising youngsters.
Every year we seem to need to bring in several "squad players" if we produced these we could decide to blow large amounts on players that will really make a difference.

MIKEY

Look at Bilbao in Spain, built a quality team around youth and a few of the old guard. Ground out some good results and got champs league last year with it. Can't all be bad can it?!

Welsh Steve

I like the tone of this post, but we cant say the likes of Robinson, Suso, Yesil, Morgan etc will be good enough for our aspirations until we actually see them play. And it's always easier to break one or two youngsters in in a successful side, but almost half a team into a bad side?!

Still, looks like we have no choice anyway til january! I just hope the fans dont get on the youngsters backs and prejudge them like everyone did with Lucas...

I'm glad that Rogers has come out and said that the youth is going to be given their crack at the whip. Morgan, Suso, Yessil, Pachecco and the likes Will give a energetic and promising, although inexperienced look to our thin attacking options.

I posted the other day about how our hands been forced into this, but now we're here I'm really optimistic about it and think the mess (or how it looked to be) on the last day of the window could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Come on red men! Let's shut all of the gob sh1tes up with our classy youth.

Scott78

He hasnt got an option

Hes got rid ofexperianced players let a 35 mil one on loan got rid of bellamy who would get in most sides

He didn't 'get rid' of Bellamy though did he? Bellamy wanted to move back to Cardiff for personal reasons.

Bellas wanted to leave for family reasons.

Ed mate if you go and see club official site it says we made 50M lose coz more then 35M was spent in stanely park project. Plz can you clear few things for me {Ed002's Note - It was to cover costs associated with the planning and design for a stadium project that has now been shelved.}

Samed Yesil looks a gem of a player. I wont be surprised to see him in a EPL action before january, coz he has the makings of a great striker. His first goal against england reminded me of zidane.

He really is isn't he. I anticipate him getting a game pretty soon...

I remember FSG saying they wanted to adopt a farming system at LFC whereby they buy cheap and talented players, develop them and sale for a profit.

That explains why we signed the likes of Mark Pelosi, Seyi Ojo, Jordan Ibe, David Teixera, Samed Yesil and so many others.

My question is are some of these players not way too young to determine if they'd be successful in future, bearing in mind the likes of Spearing and Pacheco who have spent so many years at the club but are yet to impress and nobody is willing to take them for any decent fee?

Could this not be the same reason we have let so many of these kids leave for nothing after expending so much energy and resources on them, considering the likes of Amoo, Eccleston. Ince, Tony Silva and many others as well?

Should we not buy those who are a bit more mature with good physicall attributes to suit the EPL and who can be called upon when needed without us having to worry about whether they can cope?

This way, we won't also have to wait for eons to see these kids mature for the first team and we won't waste precious time and resources on those who simply won't make it.

My suggestion is we shouldn't buy kids who are below the age a certain age, say 19 or 20 or on the other hand, who haven't matured to an appreciable level if we want to make a success of this system.

Sad fan.

Too an extent I agree, but it's always a gamble when buying young players not matter the age.

If we get one, two or three very good/potentially great players out of a batch of twenty then it's a game paid off really.

The other factor with buying players aged 19 or 20, is that a dozen other top clubs (possibly with more money, champions league etc) are also looking at them.

We've done very well to attract Sterling, Yesil, Ibe, Suso and others in recent years and personally I think all of them will be top footballers.

Papa G

Sorry Sad Fan but this is the worst post I've read in a long time. Are you actually suggesting we get rid of the youth academy? Signing players no younger than 19? What are you on??

LFC= Liverpool Farmers Cooperative.
So MR Henry is truly returning to 'his roots', by trading all 'LFC futures' as he did his corn, soybean, wheat, etc previously.
So 'the apple does'nt fall far from the tree', as he has reverted to what he knows.
A bit limited (ownership and strategically) is it not.
And Tom Werner produces a tv 'documentary', much like the sickly/preachy/idiotic family spoof show (the Cosby show of the 80's).
Suppose when considering the owners qualifications (or lack of) this is to be expected, John Henry a Philosophy university drop-out and Tom Werner a English graduate.
Strange, no business degrees, well go figure!.
Funny ain't it.

I can see it growing this way.
We will have the pick of the cream of the crop and sell the rest for a profit.
Very similar to how barcelona are run now.
All the youth players are very good.
The exceptional ones do not leave.
The very good ones do leave but are sold for considerable amounts more than what they were purchased/developed for.

I think the issue is more about quality coaching and a clear, competitive route to the first team. If you look at Barca (I know yet another Barca reference) they can't know that all of their young players at 8 will be top quality but through a great system produce far more than their fair share. High numbers of world class Rugby league players come from a small part of north west england and the worlds best sprinters come from a small island in the carribean. Sure there are advantages in having great scouts, a huge reputation and on pitch success helps but it's definitely more what you do to improve these youngsters with the basic gifts and the desire to make it. We should see this as a historical blip in our youth production system but Borrell will bring through some great, tactically aware technicians such as Sterling, Suso and the others we already have.

Simon

Your name is right sad fan , did you write that between lessons ? you clearly have no knowledge of football and life......andy.

Just listened to BR's interview on TAW - what a guy! I can honestly say everytime I feel a bit down about our results or transfer dealings and then he does an interview he manages to lift the black cloud. I believe in him 100% he will be the best thing that's happened to the club in years. I want to give him a hug and buy him a pint!

Super

He certainly knows how to 'talk the talk'
hopefully he will be toddling soon

It's called faith man, try and instill it in yourself ... if you have to hope for it, you have no faith.

There is either a God or not. You can't hope that there is one while sitting on the fence.

Talk is cheap, results are the only thing that matters

Yes Rodgers is good at the oul BS

He can talk the talk no doubt the question is can he walk the walk?

Yeah, what is he doing, he hasn't turned it around in 3 games, obviously means he is useless.

Someone who writes a 65 page letter to the owners knows how to talk but why cant he get the best out of players like carrol and bellamy thats what a good manager does surely carrol is better than toshack who was part of a successful team

how is it that Villyan Bijev was named in the U21 squad? did he get a work permit? {Ed002's Note - I assume yes.}

He was loaned out for the season to IK Start in Norway on 27th August in order to become eligible for a work-permit in the UK. He has the number 20 shirt.
He will almost certainly play a few games for Start - for a start he will be on the bench for Sunday's match!

just a quick buzz eds and reds.... at our recent game against arsenal the athmosphere was very negative from some pockets of lfc fans... on the other hand i believe we will beat da mancs and sunderland and everything will turn possitve from all the flutes who post on here complaining....support our club, sing and scream your lungs out for our players, and if we get no possitve response then you have reason to complain otherwise shut up and go support someone else..... sorry for my rant in advance..... mr.clippers

You cant blame the fans for been quiet it has been let down after let down after let down , we buy our tickets we go but there isnt a lot to cheer

There was a lot to cheer about at the city game.... u cant just pick and choose when u want to support our club but i do take on board ur remarks..

Of course there has been enough to cheer about. New manager, new signings, and an excellent performance vs City. Had it not been for Skrtel's cock up, we would have won that.

Stop being such a drama queen. You need to SUPPORT in order to be a SUPPORTER!

I do believe thats what i posted... support ur club and players was the gist of it how you pulled a negative out of my first post in beyond me..... what a dolt

Malouda wouldnt be a bad signing for couple of months cheers eds {Ed002's Note - Pongolle has moved to Rostov and why would you want him if you say he is not very good. Malouda is contracted to Chelsea and the transfer window is shut so it is not possible to take players on loan.}

I would like to ask the pro F$G people on here a simple question. If information was so restricted coming out of the club about the owners and there plans for the club when Hicks and Gillett were in charge, would you have defended them? It's a simple question that requires no comparisons with the previous and current owners, just a simple yes I would have or no I wouldn't!

Waro

What information is not coming out? Maybe the Club should give a running commentary about transfer activity? Or should we have a daily update on where we are on the Stadium, even if there's no change to the last statement? Or BR can tells us his tactics before every game? Maybe we need constant reminding about the financial situation?

Yes that would keep many supporters very happy!

Personally, I'm happy to provide the support as I'm a fan, let BR manage as he's the Manager and let the Owners run the Club as they have put a lot of money into the club (see previous posts from the Eds!) and I am expecting the Club to be challenging for all the major trophies again!

I will take that as a Yes you would have supported Hicks and Gillett nameless poster, thank god for Rafa and people like him who don't bury there heads in the sand and hope it all works out then pass themselves off as Liverpools number one fan. Real fans question what happens at there club because of there love for there club and a pride in how they act and progress both on and off the pitch, if it wasn't for fans and groups like s.o.s. you wouldn't have a club to blindly support. It's our club not the americans and we will always question and challange what happens at our club so that there is a club to pass on to our children and grandchildren. To sin by silence makes cowards out of men is a famous saying, read it and understand it.

Waro

I seem to remember you being pretty angry at fans question Dalglish's methods and not 'getting behind the team'. Why have you changed your tune now, Waro?

Ash

How much money does S.O.S give to LFC for the day to day running of the club?

Re Ash: Were in my post have told anyone not to get behind the manager and the team? My beef is with the Yanks and the sheep who blindly follow them and has been for a while, Kenny was on borrowed time from day one and not wanted by these owners. But people like you turned on him and went with the owners (everyone has to choose a side I suppose)that's why you wil back everything that goes on at the club at the minute because you have made your choice and turned on a club legend. But go back to my original question, if you had the same amount of info about Hicks and Gillett as you have about these current owners woud you have supported them? Don't go around the houses just answer that question.

Waro

I agree, what info have they not shared? They have invested in players spent a lot of wasted money clearing contracts of players on huge wages and moving them on,then the invoice they inherited for previous work done regarding new stadium! And because we didn't buy our "saviour" 29 year old clint Dempsey! The anti fsg brigade want them out!! Let me ask you a question, how many billionaires are there queueing up to buy the club and spend huge.? Man city Chelsea and psg are the exception to the rule with regards spending power, our owners are being responsible ,slowly rebuilding a club that if what is said was true was days away from admin! I feel fsg and BR need time we need stability and continuity , but fine hound them out, let's go from owner to owner manager to manager!! What then??
Boofs bro

There is questioning the club, and then there is moaning just for the sake of it. And I can't stand SoS, they are just a bunch of militant clowns who won't be happy untill they are running and managing the club themselves.

Anfield Arnie!

The FSG defenders are out in force

What do FSG have to do to convince you lot that have destroyed the club at least for the next 5 years

Pathetic.don't bother posting here again.
AnfieldUSA

Let's see then, FSG should correctly answer.
1: Transfer policy, in the toilet (what is a striker anyway, replies MR Henry).
2: Stadium, no comment (to be interpreted as, we haven't got a clue, quietly Mr Henry to Mr Werner, "wonder if these LFC fans have realised that we don't have the money", mr Werner to mr Henry "we will just have to keep feeding them the BS about the redevelopment, and problems with zoning, they can then think that their municipalities and city councils are to blame", mr Henry to mr Werner "at least that buys us some more time").
Ha, ha, LFC's esteemed owners at play, jokes and comedy from Boston central.

So it is your assumption and opinion that fsg are bad for our club!!
So you suggest that like sheep we should follow your lead and hound them out?
And aimlessly move from owner to owner from manager to manager ,going no where! Just give them a chance, they will need to come forth at some stage with further investment, and with a solution to the stadium issue , until I see how they are destroying this club and see lack of investment and lack of progress on the stadium, I will reserve judgement, the advantage of living in a democracy is freedom of choice, I respect your opinion and hope you will respect mine and others who are prepared to give fsg a chance to make our club great once again and return us to the heights we once enjoyed, if all turns sour ,which I pray won't happen I will be man enough to say I was wrong, until then" come on you reds" ynwa
Boofs bro

Fsg wiped out the debt. H&G didn't. That should answer your question.

In answer to your question Waro, you can only act on information you have. How can you possibly act on info you don't have?

Ash

Waro is a troll who actually signs off his posts!

samp

Not one person has answered my original question which speaks volumes. Because you all know how contradictory you will sound if you give an answer. Make know mistake the storm clouds are forming over F$G and they will see what happens when you try to av a scouser off (pull the wool over are eyes if your not familiar with the expression av us off) we ran two yonk pr***s out of town last time, this crowd will go the same way. Sell to the fans in a share scheme F$G and f**k off back the states and play rounders.

Waro

No doubt lots of worries are there regards to FSG.

I just hope people carefully think about it, not saying go all against the owners nor go all against defending FSG too.

Think about, there are lots of things going bad at the club interms of managing.

FSG defo has lots of things to put in the right frame.

Bosco

Wow, you are dead clever Waro, the way you use a $ instead of an S in FSG, that is just brilliant you know. And 'the storm clouds are forming over F$G and they will see what happens when you try to av a scouser off '. Get over yourself you muppet.

Waro, you've shown time and time again that your problem with the owners is much less about their actions, but mainly about their nationality. Give the anti-Americanism a rest already- it's getting very tiresome. If you have a specific issue with them, name it and we can discuss, but simply slagging them off because of where they were born is pretty lame.

FSG have so far
*Saved the club from administration.
*got rid of Hodgson and appointed Kenny because the 'know it all fans' wanted him.
*Gave Kenny over £110 million to waste on mediocre players (except Suarez).
*Employed a young, hungry, talented Manager in BR.
*Reduced the wage bill as it was just ridiculous.
*Reduced the age of the squad with BR buying young players with potential.

Can we drop this 'free agent' rubbish please? We don't need one, we aren't chasing one, we won't be chasing one, we have more than enough forward options as it is. See it as an opportunity to trial younger forwards at a high level whilst the expectations from them won't be so great because nobody expects much anyway.

Enough forward options??? No we don't silly

Who would you rather play

Morgan or Heskey?
Yesil or Owen?

According to my source who works at melwood liverpool are to bid for dries mertens in jan he is a quality player

He can talk the talk but he needs to walk the walk...

Let him walk the walk!......we are 3 matches into the league season. Rome was not built in a day.
Give him some space and I think he will walk the walk....dance the dance and.......well you get the drift.

Many thanks, terrific site by the way, Bryan {Ed002's Note - Please see earlier answers.}

I for one am really exited about liverpools future after
watching the likes of sterling, allen jonjo these boys
look very good.
Were 3 games in and every one is already down on ur own team people might have to accept it may take longer than 1
season for br to take liverpool back to were they belong
And instead of the negatives look at the posotives about
wot the future holds in these young players

Its now apparent why they rid of kenny for a yes man who wont demand funds

Quote of the day " Look at what you've got and not at what you haven't "

07 Sep 2012 04:32:00
1-Why do these owners insist on playing attacking formations/passing styles that the players are not able to play?
2-Rafa teams where defensive./players bought defensive counters
3-Results are more important than tiki-taci football, Jose Mourinho knew that, he changed tactics to win games, he played every thing including long-ball. Something this manager doesn't understnad.
4-Steve Clarke, from jan 2011 to may 2011 Liverpool played some great formations on the fly, mainly down to steve clarke deciding to treat each game as it comes. Know we need a tactically aware manager
5-BR vs KD BR might have the run of the show, but he has shown that he is tactically weak. hoping that Martinez tactics book will pull him through. He's like a kid with someone else homework book. Thinking this is the magic answer.
6-KD was royally f-dcked over by these americans, they pushed him to one side, they forced him to play formations and style that he knew wouldn't win him the game. Forcing KD to deply DC tactics, while letting DC buy the players with the help of American owners. All the time belittling a man like KD to nothing at the club and turning a great coach like steve clarke into a fitness instructor.
7- Every move the americans have made has been wrong, (kenny was forced through by the fans and the owners destroyed him) {Ed002's Note - The tactics are not chosen by the owners.}

are Liverpool supporters stupid?

The board are turning us into a mid-table/bottom table team. Since we havn't been in champions league for 3 years. They have given up all hope of getting their. They instead have decided to turn the club into a midtable cash cow. knowing the fans will be loyal as long as the football is entertaining on match days.

They have no spending ambitions to win anything major or to move the club into a champions league position. If it happens that we do end up in a top 4 finish, it will be a fluke that no one at the club expected.

They bought in a bottom half manager, after spending last season and failing they have decided this season to sell off the remaining champions league players and to shrink the size of the squad to something manageable for a small club.

I just wonder how long the world-wide fan base will let the americans get away with it. Its a beautiful concept from the owners point of view.
They spend 200 million, never put another penny into the club, instead decide to turn the club into a stagnant mid-table team. Reduce footballing resources to 7 good players and hope no one really notices too much. West-ham have the same mind set, they will purchase enough to get by, play pretty football to keep match day gates up and then one day they get relegated because they fail to grow and compete.

I can understand clever spending, but i havn't seen it from these americans. Wenger is man who know how to spend clever to improve the squad.
We are a behind man utd, chelsea, man city, arsenal, tottenham in terms of consistent spending on the squad. We are behind the likes of newcastle, everton, fulham in terms of cleaver buys.

We may be in the bottom half of the league. Say west-ham, reading, norwich, wigan down at the bottom

we will be in liverpool, southampton, aston villa, stoke part of the table, hoping we don't go down this season and at the same time knowing we are not going to do much.

How far we have declined with this management team. {Ed002's Note - You are miles off regarding the investment in the club.}

We have played 3 games . and there is 36 to go . Have a little patiance
Gazza2012

Don't pussy out and hedge your bet with, 'if we make top 4 it'll be a fluke'. And sign your name if you believe the s*** you are spouting. Verbal diarrhea is what your post is. So many inaccurate and blatantly incorrect statements, it doesn't even need to be countered.

SpudRed

Liverpool supporters are well known for there footbal knowledge, I especially like Gazza2012 who says '3 games gone and 36 to go' maths and football not your strong points!?

Even if you polayed 39 games and everyone else played less you would still be lucky to finish mid table.

Midtable cash cow? - we aren't even making a profit - explain?

HI Eds

Is there a buy back clause in samed yesil's contract.if there is then what's the point of buying him from bayer leverkusen... {Ed002's Note - We have no idea what the terms of it are. It is likely to be along the lines of "BL having first option should Liverpool decide to sell the player before he is 21" or similar. I would not worry about it.}

RE: If somebody came in with an offer for the club right now that gave them their money back, then they would take it.

Would the fans be willing to buy the football club back from these guys. Run it as a co-op.

Shotgun on till.

That should have been done a long time ago the the club would have owners that care and with the size of our fan base it is more than possible

Speaking to some of the Anfield regulars, they tell me that everything inside the ground has gone up in price, from bottles of water to the pies.

These are the exact words Lawrenson wrote in his article in the Daily Post.
Is he your friend?

I wish i was an anfield regular!

Speaking to tesco regulars & their prices seem to have all gone up too. Conspiracy?

Hmmm seems fishy, you would think the government applied a system that inflates prices.

I've noticed Morrisons has gone up as well - spooky that, could it have anything to with current financial climate in general.

No one is forcing anyone to buy a bottle of water or a pie. If you don't want to pay it, then don't. Simple.

Screw screw screw the fans

Inflations a bitch isn't it.....?!

I watch footy at Anfield not stuff my face.

BR on Suarez: "His strength's are in around the box. He can play as a false winger, and we will look at that".

Encouraging comments, At least he is thinking what I am thinking. The problem with Hodgson and Kenny was they never seem to address the problems on the pitch, in common football knowledge we even identify.

Suarez would be much much effective on the wings. And to add to it, Fabio Borini. Play the lad up front, not on the sides or as a wing forward.

May be too soon to expect, but would love to see Suarez & Yesli upfront.

BR done very good business in Yesli.

Bosco

Big Sami done good business for Yesil... big Sami's the man

07 Sep 2012 01:09:33
Just to repeat what everyone else ha been saying (the boards need some positivity after deadline day) Yesil - WOW! Not wishing to get ahead of myself he looks like a new number 9 in the making. I hope he gets plenty of first team
chances he would be lethal up front with Suarez, the kind of strike parter Suarez has been crying out for. Feeling more and more positive as the days go by.

I know our first 3 games have been disappointing but we knew with all the changes that the team would take time to
settle - probably better to make these early season mistakes against teams we would be less likely to beat later on in the season. And no disrespect to west brom, they've had a great start.

Don't live in the UK & haven't seen Suso play. Would it be fair to say he could go into the Sahin position when he goes back to Madrid? I hear they are both left footed Alonso-esque players. Just a thought. The future is bright.

Allen-Shelvey-Suso
Yesil-Morgan-Sterling

Yes, he can fit into that role very well but he is a lot more agile than them and has great movement. He is more of an attacking threat but he is also a very good passer of the ball. He can fill many roles. A mix between Alonso and David Silva in my opinion.

Sure, both of them can't tackle or track back. they will be great ball watching like they did at arsenal. I'v never seen a lfc team give sooo much space to arsenal team that love to pass it.

how is it that Villyan Bijev was named in the U21 squad? did he get a work permit? {Ed002's Note - I assume yes.}

He was loaned out for the season to IK Start in Norway on 27th August in order to become eligible for a work-permit in the UK. He has the number 20 shirt.

An open letter in support of; FSG, Brendan Rodgers and their stewardship of LFC.

Every year, across the globe, thousands of Liverpool Football Club replica are sold. All of them (aside from those unveiled earlier this year) bear the legend You'll Never Walk Alone,ť a sentiment which seems to have been forgotten by many of the fans who buy those replica shirts.

The source of their frustration? That Liverpool failed to replace the outgoing Andy Carroll with a recognised centre forward.

It's been said many times, that no one man is bigger than the Anfield club, yet it seems one player's absence is enough to condemn owners and a manager who are doing their level best to steer the club back to its former glory.

FSG invested millions of dollars and went through a drawn out court battle to wrest control of the club from Hicks and Gillett and rescue an English football institution from administration, something they were under no obligation to do. It's worth remembering that a much smaller investment would have delivered Everton, a club which (silverware aside) has similar standing, tradition and ambitions.

John W. Henry and co then trusted Dalglish, a club legend, and Damien Comolli, with over £100 million and were rewarded with an 8th place finish in the League, and a scraped victory in the League Cup final. A campaign in which the team's from dipped significantly after Christmas and lost 14 of 38 league matches was never going to be viewed as a success and King Kenny and Comolli paid the price.

FSG then looked to the future. They know that until FFP, Liverpool will not be able to compete with the likes of City and Chelsea financially. In order to return the club to its former glory they hired one of the brightest young managers in the league and gave him full control of football matters.

FSG are backing their man. They've invested a further £30 million to bring in a number of talented youngsters, 2 of whom have gone straight into the starting 11, and removed a number of high earners from the wage bill. The vast majority of fans recognise the efforts being made and know the club is moving in the right direction, however a vocal minority have taken to twitter and fan's forums to criticise the owners, some even going to so far as to threaten John W. Henry and his family. This is unacceptable.

Rodger's methods will need time to bear fruit and Liverpool have already come close to defeating the defending league champions in their first home game of the season.

Messrs Henry, Warner and Rodgers, there are many fans who are truly grateful for your efforts; you have our trust and our thanks. Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart and you'll never walk alone.

Finally someone who talks some sense and knows a bit about football. thank you. not everyone on this site are fickle negative fans.

Everton,similar standing ? I don't think so !! B

Yeah way to go sheep, keep glossing over the owners woeful inadequacies this transfer window - god forbid a fan questions the way in which their beloved football club is being run - getting rid of a young striker we paid a lot of money for on loan to replace him with.... nobody..... yeah everythings fine, great way to run a football club.

Nonsense, get your heads out of the sand. We've been left with a weakened squad pure and simple, the owners want success but without the financial outlay it requires. Why pretend otherwise? If it helps you sleep better no worries, but my eyes are wide open - Champions League football is, given the trend the current owners have set, at least 4-5 seasons away - I hope all you positive fans can keep smiling through that.

1- the owners messed up our Liverpool shirt. Something I'm not happy with personally. All so the owners could get maximum shirt sales from the 100 of millions of fans. We the fans are funding these persons, wake-up and smell the coffee. They are taking advantage of us the fans.

2 RE: frustration? outgoing Andy Carroll
NO, the frustration comes from shrinking the playing staff to an unmanageable number. lbk/rbk, Amid, 2 Rwing, 2 Stk, faster cbks for the ones we have now.

I figure we need at least: 2 gk, 2 lbk, 2rbk 4cbk, 2 dm, 3am, 2rwing, 2 lwing. 4 stikers
lacking lbk, (cbk. carragher, skrtel should been replaced), 2 rwing, 2 stk
I can clearly see we are short good 5 players, giving skrtel a pay-raise was foolish. He plainly isn't worth it. Giving Luis a pay-raise was also wrong. We really didn't need him as much as some people think. His stats don't measure up to the price tag. Im happy Andy Carroll left, never liked him, not a liverpool player, never wanted to be at the club and was being over paid to do nothing.

3. condemn owners and a manager who are doing their level best.
I really can't see these guys doing anything for the club, kenny wanted to help the club, FENWAY want to help themselves to your money and BR is turning out to be a tactical person. Who in the right mind decides to split/push our cbks half way up the pitch. not to give them any dm cover. Not to press the op, and to get the players ball watch. Glen Johnson meant to be a lbk and not a winger? he loses it and stands around with Luis. tactical nightmare from BR. I would of said 1st month fixtures are killer. we are going to batten down the hatches and get as many draws as possible. EG a point shared is better than letting the top 5 take all 3pts each week.

4-FSG invested millions of dollars and went through a drawn out court battle to wrest control of the club from Hicks and Gillett

First of all, john henry was never a fan of lfc and prob never knew where liverpool was before he bought the club. He became a fan after the purchase. He didn't purchase the club to save it from folding. He saw the club was massively undervalued, the fan base was world wide and he knew he could put minimum dollars in and milk the fans for 10 years.

5- It's worth remembering that a much smaller investment would have delivered Everton, why bother, everton don't have the 100 of millions of fans, from this website you can see their are never any fans in the smaller clubs forums like they are in here. We have a massive fan base like man utd, if someone said to me do you want to buy something simlair in size to man utd for 50p, I would of bitten their hands off. While they bought the club for next to nothing. A inwards investment of 200 million would turn this club into a 1billion paid asset like man utd. unlike man city and chelsea. we already have the fan base from our 70'80'90's. They are just too stupid to realize that building a new stadium would massively increase their value in the club to 600million, a couple of big name signing and we would be back into the champions league. Spend 200million + 200million for stadium + 60million for 2 world class players and if done right 460m would of gotten them a champions league club, the fans, the stadium and a value of 600m to 1billion if they then got the commercial side right. At the moment they have spent pennies on the club and are thinking of turning us into some kind of bottom league club.

6- Kenny. The fans foced kenny in and no one else wanted the job. Kenny would abused by those americans and DC. they took the piss out of him and now he is gone, but he still won us a cup and got us into europe something BR wont do this season.

7- Transfers and inwards investment: We sold to buy, and each time we did it, we messed it up by selling good players for lesser ones. Time will tell. They amercians spend nothing of their own money.
8-8th place. finishing so low, was down to the americans and Damien Comolli who bought in the overpriced rubbish, and set the tactics. It was a joke in hindsight. A man like Fergie would of walked as soon as it was mentioned, but kenny stayed and took the criticism. I can't blame a manager who isn't allowed to manage.

9- Squad Depth - because the owners failed to invest in the right number of players to succesful finsih a season in Champions league position we failed to make it. We where lacking players when Adams + Luis Suarez where out of the team. lake of depth in the team cost us 2nd half. internal politics with the owners cost us.

10- They gave control of Anfield to BR>?? Are they crazy.

in business terms they gave a local shop manager who has been overly successful on the hard-work carried out by previous management. The keys to a multinational. No middle steps, working your way up to this level. It's a dumb move and they know it.

11- Transfers and Money this season
FSG once again failed to invest anything into the club. Any money spent was generated from us skydeal, prize monies ect. They have never put anything more in than their own time.

12- Removing High earners from the wage bill

Again in business terms, they decided to sack people in their factory and give 1 person a wage increase of 3.5times his normal wage. Then they increased another 2 peoples wages by 3.5times their normal salary in attempt to lower wages. If it was me in the business sense, I would look at the skill sets these people had, and think do I really need them if Im working in a different way now. Luis and Gerrard where standing in the same space doing nothing against arsenal. Did we really need the pair for 140k a week each. The other option would of been to sell them and try to purchase the next up and coming asset like santi who when to arsenal for next to nothing. Allen is over paid for what he is, Borini too. I would never triple someone's salary just because they coming to lfc. These are simple principles.
Know what the player is worth, and stick to a tight salary budget, whose who don't fit in to the salary cap, ship them out.

13- This isn't the liverpool way. threaten John W. Henry and his family. This is unacceptable. Don't agree with this at all,
John Henry is a nice enough guy, but has a really stupid impulsive chairman working for him. Making him look bad, plus he is damaging two clubs and not one by sharing his asset base over here and in America. Since purchasing LFC John Henry Red- sox havnt done too well.

14- Im not against playing football, but even Fergie and Wenger didn't come in over night and try to play tici-tacki football. It took three season, the first season they worked with what was on hand. They got in and they steadied the ship. Next season they got ride of who would fit the new system and got the backroom working on it, within 3rd season you started to see something else from them. Its never instant in a football club. Football clubs are like massive ships sailing off centre, and they need little adjustments to take them in to new directions, the journey is long.

15- I would be less inclined to hate them if they set lfc up as a co-op run and owned by the fans. They would oversee it and guide it for none-fit.
Then the whole world wouldn't think they where here in the worlds riches league looking for hookers and cheap handjobs.

You sir need to stop working for FENWAY

1. FSG were never in a "drawn out" court proceeding - that was between H&G and the lending bank!
2. To the person that questions Everton's standing - they are older than us and the original club in Liverpool you person...learn your history as we're the product of a rather greedy Tory businessman who couldn't come to an agreement with the other owners of Everton over the rent for stadium and adjoining land!
3. FSG installed DC based upon bad advice and without full knowledge - rather a bad business move methinks!
4. FFP is unlikely to have the impact most of you seem to believe because the breakaway pan-european league is a substantial threat to FIFA and UEFA which could ultimately ruin their monopolisation of the sport worldwide. In the old days of that league being mentioned both FIFA and UEFA threatened to exclude the national sides of teams that considered moving to a breakaway league but with move and more owners now not being British and having to answer to other markets it is less of a threat!
4. Most fans are just as grateful as you but they find recent transfer activity to lack the decorum or business acumen that we historically demand at LFC (and constantly professed to be the regular status of FSG): players were openly criticized and told they were no longer required. THAT is not the Liverpool-way and certainly doesn't ring out the chant of Rogers & Hammerstein's You'll Never Walk Alone!

Rodgers WILL come good and his methods pay off BUT blind support never helped anybody and it is often the cause of large problems in the history of the world. I do however agree with you that criticism from many fans has been obstructive rather than constructive which is also not to be adopted as the LFC way ;)

The problem with all these no-namers posting is you cannot tell which is which...is a post attacking (or defending) the original poster or commenting on something the second or third (no-name)poster has said?
If you believe in what you say (and looking above it is hard to see how you can) why be afraid to show a name, any name, but just so that the rest of us know who we are talking to with this or subsequent posts?

Puzzled

It's hard to read the phrase 'in BR we trust' without thinking about how untrustworthy BR (British Rail) used to be. The contradiction is tearing me apart Eds.

BR is a snake in grass who has already crossed the owners. His character is in question. he has done it at watford and at reading.

Eds love your work.... posted that assaidi hasn't been starting or available via the bench due to tightness in his groin. Is this true?
