We have not become any type of club. Liverpool's way has integrity and we are not and never will be new money splashing it out over the odds.

Right guys, not been on for a while, but my contacts have some news! I don't generally post until 99% certain!

Firstly, gaston Ramirez has signed in 16mill euro deal,(I am told that there is a hefty signing fee). Source close to international squad.

Also, interesting news involving spurs, Modric to real Madrid complete, and adebayor to spurs complete (around 10 million euros).

And finally a player I like, mountinho will pick from man utd or spurs, in talks this week.

All shall come out, remember the name

Swagga

Every one of these is all over twitter right now. I'm more than 99% certain about that :)

Interesting story in the Sunday times showing Liverpool are still one of the biggest spenders on squad wages in the epl. 135m last year. Wages are the biggest area of expenditure and are a good indicator for where a team should be placed at the end of the season. Using this approximation, we bombed badly. My conclusion is that the money has been available but the management has not spent it wisely. Yes, fsg are ultimately responsible, but you could argue that they had to appoint kenny and others when they did as they were under enormous pressure from the fans and media.

I am a Swansea season ticket holder but a long term Liverpool fan. Rodgers appointment by Liverpool was a good decision IMO - time will tell. We need the fans to get behind him and the owners who I believe are acting in the best interests of the club.

By the way, I think kenny is the greatest player we ever produced. It did not work out for him as manager second time around.

I agree rodgers is a steal in my opinion, but how can you blame fsg and kenny for the enormous wages. many of liverpool's highest paid players were benitez signings. they just inherited a hefty wage bill of which they are trying to reduce and yet they are taking grief from imbeciles about that too.
derryred

You say your a swansea season ticket holder but in the next breath say kenny is the best player 'we' have ever produced, not youse have ever produced, stop talkin bollox and making up storys,

'@TransferClock: Bologna have confirmed #LFC are in talks with Gaston Ramirez, This deal will close in a week unless he wants another club to approach him.' This is run by sly so it's probably true

JR

If it's run by Sly mate, it's probably false.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

That is a fake account not really SSN..

It's not run by SSN. It's some joker, who used the sly Centre crest to give his tweets more authenticity. It's more likely he's just picking up on other tweets and re-hashing them as his own

Reasons these players might join or leave

Gaston Ramirez - because we need a playmaker, our new scout is an Italian market expert and did detailed assessment for Man City, recommended by Suarez and young, talented and likely to increase in value 8/10 chance

Clint Dempsey - proven PL experience and goals, owners name checked him, can play in a number of positions and with experienced players leaving he fills the void. Down to the price but would be a great addition 7/10 chance

Juan Manuel Vargas - available and scouted for a while by LFC. Provides pace and crossing quality and can play left back, midfield and wide left. Fiorentina interest in Aquilani could help and Viola have previously been interested in Suso on loan. 7/10 chance

Fabio Borini - new managers often want to recruit players they know well. Has ability and provides more mobility than AC so becomes a different option. For less than 10m he can be developed and offers scope to increase in value. His purchase could be part funded by allowing Bellers to leave and freeing up wages. 6/10 chance

Joe Allen - BR can bid for him and it could be sweetened by offering Shelvey or Suso on loan. If he comes then I'd expect Adam to be sold to make up bulk of fee. 5/10 chance

These 5 players appear the most likely signings to me although I wouldn't expect all of them this summer.

The outgoings

We ain't going to flog most of the fringe players. Aquilani will go for £5m and I wouldn't be surprised if Doni, Maxi and Bellamy are allowed to leave if squad is strengthened. Only other players likely to attract fees are Pacheco and Adam (if the move for Allen happens)

Before anyone says the ins and outs won't improve us consider this.

We could cut squad numbers and reduce wage bill making room for younger players to shine. None of the players leaving would make the starting XI on a regular basis.

Ramirez adds huge quality to team, Dempsey is Kuyt's replacement and helps address goal scoring problem. Vargas puts pressure on Enrique and Downing and is renowned for his crossing which benefits AC.

Borini and/or Allen get Rodgers style of play and are younger and fitter than Bellers and Adam. Plus a rejuvenated Joe Cole is like a new signing.

(4-3-3) Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Vargas, Gerrard, Lucas, Ramirez, Dempsey, Carroll, Suarez = stronger XI with more of a goal threat

(4-3-3) Jones, Kelly, Carragher, Coates, Enrique, Allen, Henderson, Cole, Shelvey, Borini, Downing = good mix of youth and experience

Spearing, Wilson, Suso, Sterling and other youngsters complete the squad.

Flanagan, Robinson definite loans with Gulacsi, Shelvey & Suso other possibles

PieInTheSkyMan

I actually quite like this and it seems plausible.

Only problem I can say is that Suso is too young for a loan until January.
Not a bad post though.

08 Jul 2012 21:37:10
I really wanted Ramirez. But apparently, we've missed out on him. First Gylfi then Ramirez. Now we're looking at Allen. He's got potential but he'll not be a success at Liverpool. Downing had created more goalscoring chances than Young in the 2010/11 season. Well, we all saw what a hit he turned out to be. Allen won't succeed at Liverpool & then you'll be saying stuffs like remember Lucas?, he needs time etc. Mark my words. Use the search function to see this post when my prediction does come true.

hi eds and everyone i have been listen to Brendan Rodgers Speaks To BBC Radio 5 Live-on you-tube at the 7.25 min mark he talks about transfer and money worth a listen then it might keep a few quit an less bulls-it on here
red-lad

Wot that last bit mean

He has basicly said he wont get as much as kenny did but he will get enough to improve the team, lets remember kenny had over £100 mil, not many clubs spend over 100 mil every season but a good £50 mil plus sales would be a very good start, he also said about bringing through the youth, i hope he has the courage to put sterling, silva, suso and maybe coady into the first team. 08 Jul 2012 21:21:02
the transfer window opened 7 days ago how many players do you want us to sign in the week that we also just started pre season, so rodgers has been with the squad for a week, but apparently should have already made signings

08 Jul 2012 21:18:46
Eds and reds! Guys, people need to give BR a chance. Like everyone I wanted Daglish to succeed but he's gone now so we all need to get behind our new man and show some respect to him! We will be the barca of the prem, just have some patience and it will all come good!!!

BR have his a year time to show what he can do. but he move and plan slow.

08 Jul 2012 21:18:21
wondered how long it would take for the moaners to start bleating about spurs signing vertonghen. Why would we want to sign him? Even if we assume carra is finished we have agger and skrtel, with kelly, coates and wilson in reserve. Everyone moans that the youngsters dont get a chance but instead of wanting coates to step up this season we're moaning that we haven't splashed out on a centre half that we don't need and would not come to sit on the bench behind agger and skrtel anyway. Spurs signed him because they needed to fill the centre half position since king is finished, we don't need a centre half.

we have to go for players for positions that actually need strengthened not just because one of our rivals is bidding for him

08 Jul 2012 21:00:08
We really need to get our hands out of our a**e with the transfers, other big teams done deals even before the transfer window even opened, we need to sort it out!

God these posts are driving me mad.
Ed's could you start missing the odd one out about our lack of transfer grabbing speed?

Liverpool as a club seem to be doing well in getting a lot of top young players in.

The thing is this is a big year for us , another bad year and we may struggle to every play in the champions league again.

So its ok to be looking at Allen and borini who may well be top prospects , but I feel we desparetly need to invest in proven talent.

LAVERS

Dortmund, juventus Montpelier and manchester united are examples of teams who were built around youth and ended up being successful. give it time.

Ok I just want to make sure everyone knows someone has posted something up in my name so I want you to be aware of the differences between me and the imposter.

- I'm fully behind BR and the board.
- I like the new kits
- I think Aquilani and Adam should be sold
- I think we'll drastically improve next season
- I really, really don't like Theo Wontcorss and Daniel Sturridge as players
- I don't think we should sign anymore English players for a while, at least not for big money.

Just so you can tell the difference

Lewis the Red

Fully agree except on the Adam part, I believe he could fit into some of BR's systems, and should therefore be kept as a squad player.

Drigan

Lewis the red imposters himself when he got a negative response for his opinion he kinda restarted himaelf so if he ever writes something bad he can pretend he never actually wrote it pretty clever or is it. STEMLOCC1. The real1 or am i STEMLOCC1

1. no not fully behind until they proof they are the best so far they are very slow.
2. yes I like the kits that's look great I wish guy's have a visit in show rooms arther then just website.
3.yes agreed.
4. not sure we are slow.
5. who is wontcross ?

Why would I post I want Sturridge when it's clear I don't?!

Lewis the REd

Hey eds, why do people keep linking us to joe Allen! We cannot sign Swansea players for a year and to dishonour an agreement is not the Liverpool way. Just thought I'd share

I finally overcame my insomnia last night after realising that the signing of Theo Wontcross was very unlikely. However, I experienced probably one of the worst nightmares I have ever had (worse than when I was at a Girls Aloud concert that I couldn't leave). Daniel Sturridge had signed for Liverpool.

Look, I'm gonna explain this in a nice simple fashion for everyone. Ok? Daniel Sturridge is not good enough for Liverpool. Now repeat after me. Daniel Sturridge is not good enough for Liverpool. Daniel Sturridge is not good enough for Liverpool. Daniel Sturridge is not good enough for Liverpool.

Got it? Good. Now we can focus on the new season. New young, ambitious manager, more investment, new style of play, new signings. And most of all, a Theo Wontcross and Daniel Sturridge free squad. Yay!

Lewis the Red

Two good young English players. One day, Conceivably, the England and Liverpool squads maybe one and the same.I say sign them both and ask two questions, what do you know about footie and are your eyes tattooed on ? !! B

Sturridge has other concerns to be honest, but i find it hard to contemplate why you think he is not good enough Lewis? I would agree he needs some serious tweaking under and great coaching but he is still very young and has serious pace to burn and has scored pretty consistently when playing regular football. He does need to look up and pass for sure, but if he gets fit again i think he could be an excellent purchase.

More importantly, who do you think is good enough for us?

gareth

No, he doesn't score regularly. He fizzled out at the turn of the new year that is why RDM dropped him.

08 Jul 2012 20:15:08
Hi ed great work! Just wondering any chance of both Sturridge and walcott joining up with the team on either wing wing? With the new homegrown rule soon to come into play

Cheers matt {Ed002's Note - There is no new rule for homegrown players impacting Liverpool.}

08 Jul 2012 20:06:09
jesus christ i swear the next time some plank writes about players not being able to play our tiki taka style im gonna launch this laptop.
99% of you lot had never even heard of tika taka before rodgers came, now your all talking about it as if your all mini pep gaurdiolas and you've been studying the style for years.
give it a rest please, its called pass and move possession football, remember we invented it and dominated European football using it, we've just forgotten how to play it.
Jaydee ynwa

What a great post !

Phukkit

There is no chance that Gerrard or Lucas will be able to play our tiki taka style!

Mr A P Lank

Well said that man.My Mrs hoovered up my modem recently so haven't been on the site for a while, hoped the tika-takarist's would have run their course by now,oh well !! B

Tiki taka football

More like Ticky Tacky football

Comedy gold there...not

Any style of football named after Japanese food cant be all that good could it?

Fact is, if you want to watch it, then become a Barca fan, but hang on, Real took the title in Spain and they certainly don't play the 'tiki taka' game do they.
I know what I prefer!.

Tika Taka is the way you play Table Tennis..

Another class signing by the spuds. 4th place getting further away every season!

Ohhh because were so desperate for a CB right now. Give it a rest will ya -McMenemy

Another Roman A, Levy buying who he wants not the manager. They will need top 4 to pay all those over inflated salaries they pay to get a player, as they have nothing else to offer.
Lee73

Vertonghen is not a better player than Agger or Skrtel, so whilst he is a good player, I don't think we should worry too much about Spurs strengthening with a new centre back. If Spurs were to sign a Hummels or Thiago Silva than that would be a cause for concern.

RedSG

Spuds have signed a bencher from a mid table german team who scored a couple of lee hendries in a 5 month spell at swans, they have also signed a unproven defender from a sub standard league. I wouldnt worry to much about spuds this season, they are a poor club, they rely on bargains and sales to bring in players, unless modric is sold the likes of ramirez are way out of there range. Remember they only have 1 striker so if they can scrape the barrell to pay city the measly millions for adebayor then thats there transfers done.

Spurs is very active and they know thier target very well. we feel like lost, not plan our target well. miss player for small salary agrument. BR said he is planing to bring 3/4 player but who and when ? {Ed028's Note - Calm down please its day 8 and also its gylfi blooding sigurdsson hes not a superstar just feast your eyes upon the talks about bringing ramirez to the club!! thats someone 10x better than gylfi and is a real star}

But Spuds will most likely lose Modric, and Gylfi (30 pieces of silver) ain't no Modric.
So have spurs really strengthened, I don't think so.

08 Jul 2012 19:00:58
if liverpool are serious about becoming a dominant force they need to have their u14's playing as the under u16's and promote everyone else 1 or 2 age groups to ensure players are always improving even if it means they lose more games than they win. u16's should be the u18's and everyone above that age should be loaned out, training with the first team or released with exceptions i.e late developers

How do you know who'll be a late developer??

No this is not the way to run the youth system playing the same football style all the way through from u11 and u12 is what is happening and has since rafa maybe you houllier took over. Playing and keeping the same type of system and sticking to your principles. Do you know what iniesta, xavi, pedro, busquest won as youth players nothing because of the way they played youth brings inexperience which is why they play in the Barcelona b team so long before they move up.

Then what happens when the big mean u-16's decide to break the wee u-14's every week. honestly get some cop-on.

What a daft post all you do is learn how to lose football games by being out of your depth! The academy is doing well, they are all at different levels I would let Frank and his staff assess who is ready for what!

08 Jul 2012 18:57:00
Would be very happy if we would go for the following players:
Allen
Ramirez
M. Suarez

Loving the talks about griezmann, however I am not sure what do believe. I don't know to much about Borini, although his statistics from his time in swansea is quite impressive!

I now we are only 8 days in, but seriously I need to see a signing soon haha!
Looking forwardd to our first signing
YNWA

08 Jul 2012 19:45:52
Why can't BR and the club management do what I wish? I mean who are they to not consult me on every transfer, and how do they expect me to give them my full support when they're ignoring me & my lack football knowledge? Pull you fingers out BR!

Xk

Ye wat e said!!

It's should be what we wish not I wish :)

08 Jul 2012 19:42:14
Liverpool Fc should give Robbie Fowler a striker coaching role within the club he has raw talent, he could pass all his knowledge back into the academy we might then see more forwards coming through the ranks?

How much would you pay for a young 20 year old fowler if he were around now?
Sorry, of course not, he'd join a big club!

just kidding
gareth

08 Jul 2012 19:40:08
First signing done and dusted. He's a bird/dragon/fish hybrid looking type of thing by the name of 'The Mighty Red.' Should excite the young generation of Liverpool fans.

-Shane.

08 Jul 2012 19:17:53
To people not happy with the likes of Allen, Ramirez and Borini... You have to realise that in Rodgers system, only certain types of players will fit in to it. So I imagine these players will be very technically gifted on the ball and that can do no harm having them in your team. Lucas, Gerrard, Aquilani, Cole are like new signings aswell, all top class players on form.

Luis

Nobody wants AA, so how good is he really.

How will lucas and aqua be like new signings. lucas will need a few months to get back to his best and aqua.. just naw.

08 Jul 2012 19:15:02
I'll tell you what gets my goat......people who keep going on about kenny being unfairly sacked and questioning the new manager. Why don't you let it go? Being 'unlucky' hitting the woodwork so many times is still poor finishing. That raises the question over training, which I believe the management team would be responsible for. King kenny was the best player ever to pull on this shirt but as a manager get was average. He inherited a good side as Liverpool manager first time around and didn't have the competition these days from Chelsea and man city. At blackburn he had jack's money to buy a competitive advantage. Newcastle, fail....Celtic, fail. Brendan seems to be really tactically competent. I heard him describe a Swansea goal that involved 42 passes and how they moved the opposition players around so much they couldn't pick the final few killer passes and goal. On paper this guy is worth double kenny as a manager.....give him a bloody chance!!
Pieboy1812

@Pieboy1812, I totally agree with you, kenny was a great player but as a manager he was pretty poor!

Dave

Yes on paper mate, so until he puts trophies on the table he ain't as good as KK

I guess it comes down to one question then; A league cup and 8th or champions league football. I know players we want to sign would prefer

Lewis the Red

Man you really really have made yourself look very very stupid

While Kenny did inherit his first team at Liverpool, which no doubt helped him win his first title as a manager, he still had to win the thing. You als need to take into account that Kenny subsequently brought Barnes, Aldridge, Houghton and Beardsley to the club and built a team around them that was probably Liverpool's most attractive football team ever and very probably the finest ever seen in English football. Kenny left because Hillsborough devastated him. When he joined Blackburn, he was given money to buy the best and he built the best team in England with that money, but is that any different than Fergie, Mancini, Mourhino/Ancelotti/AVB/Di Matteo (or whoever the current Chelsea manager is) does? I think not, and you can lay your same argument at their door too, I wonder how successful these guys would be without money to but the best players. Kenny won the Scottish League Cup as Celtic manager, and at Newcastle he still managed a Premier league runners up spot and a F.A cup final appearance. I certainly believe that Liverpool signings from last year unfortunately never reached the potential Kenny seem in them, but they can only be better this year, and its Brendan Rodgers that will benefit from these purchases.

Dalglish record as a manger:

4 English Titles,
2 F.A Cups
1 Carling cup
1 Scottish League Cup

Not too shoddy for an average tactic-less manager, who ironically has a better record in the league than Wegner (nearly 20 years at Arsenal, lol), Mourhino, Ancelotti, Mancini, Redknapp, Moyes, only Fergie has achieved more, but then again Fergie has had the better part of three decades to amass all his trophies.

I think for you it would have been better to keep your thoughts to yourself on this one, and not be a known fool than to express them like you just did and remove all doubt.

Kris

Kenny was maybe out of the manager game too long... I supported him and was personally glad we had him and did feel he should be given more time. But either way DONT KNOCK HIM AS POOR MANAGER! Hh wasn't bad before as far as i remember. Won medals with LFC asmanager and then left and joined a club not doing great and took them to the top in less than 2 years i believe

show some respect
gareth

Kris, that was brilliant.
derryred

You know what Kris, you won me round. That cup win against the mediocre championship side (by the skin of our teeth) shouldn't be forgotten. What I wanted was for kenny to take on the big teams last season, but he failed. We lost against some mediocre teams last year and couldn't open a brothel's door.

Whilst I enjoy listening to BR and what he wants to do I still can't see it with the current squad. It simply lacks strength in depth but more importantly quality. Are Spurs in the champions league? no and we are not as well but they seem to be making an effort to improve the squad. Sigurdsson, Vertonghen and now its appears the lad from Dortmund. All quality. What are we linkd with Borini (could not hack it as Chelsea or Swansea) Allen another Adam. Macca is it true that the owners are now settling for mid table. They need to invest in quality.

Don't tell me they spent £110mill last season they did not. In fact how much of own money have they put in? zero.

I am sick of listening how it is difficult attracting players due to not being in the champions league. Spurs are doing a good job, Newcastle are doing fine. Maybe its the people at LFC involved in the deals who are useless e.g. Ayre

Redfish

Kk net spend was only £23 million , that same year fsg spent $350 million on 2 baseball players ! fsg need to start to invest in lfc properly !

These owners have net spent near 60 million in two years which was HUGELY offset by a superinflated fee for Torres. These guys spend money.

McSnuggles

Its the bright lights of london that prob sell it to overseas players.

I'd suggest perhaps you need to take a look at the club's annual financial review if you think the owners have spent 'zero' on LFC.

RDL

No they didn't, to buy players in baseball you trade, with a little extra cash, that money you spoke of is their salary which will be paid over the length of their contract, there is a guaranteed sum in that granted but the rest is salary over the duration of the contract, they may not get that full amount they may be traded or released so the club doesn't have to pay the full amount, there are also get out clauses that the clubs put in where they can get rid of the player early without paying the full amount, baseball is a totally different system, do don't compare it to football, especially of you don't know what you are talking about

08 Jul 2012 18:46:36
Does anyone else think Gaston Ramirez will look great in our new purple kit? {Ed002's Note - You do know this isn't a dating site?}

Something tells me you mean the third kit and nothing else..

08 Jul 2012 18:45:53
Apparently someone in England had bid for Granero turned down, and press suggests may have been Liverpool. Tottenham will undoubtedly sign him now. Is it possible that Rodgers is putting out his own rumours, luring the other teams into buying these players and blowing their transfer budgets, only for Rodgers to come in with all new targets? I think this is a true conspiracy. Well done Brendan! I wonder who the real targets are? Probably Torres, Alonso, Mascherano and Babel.

Wegner has told the Arsenal board that he wants Suarez to replace the outgoing Van Persie who is to be offered to Juventus in a cut price deal to keep the player out of the clutches of premiership rivals, this will leave the way clear for Arsenal to make good on a bid for Suarez.

This is maybe the worst post I've read on here in a long time and by the way its wenger

Arsenal bid for Suarez that is going to be in thier dream. £40m+ they never use for any player.

all this bull about aquilani having injury problems are bull. he had a broken ankle and that's the only real injury he has had. Gerrard on the other hand has injury problems.

Adam was also sidelined towards the end of the season are you going to say he also has injury problems?

Not really LFC related but Modric has left Spurs, not quite clear who to yet though...

Macca you said earlier that the owners will splash money this year. Of course I'm not expecting to overspend on players who don't feel they will make the difference but: Ramirez reportedly will cost us 20 mil. We all know he is talented, very good with the ball, very young with lots of potentials + Uruguayan(which helps building around Suarez). If that's not good amount to give for this lad and you are giving 20 mil for Downing, then how do you expect to spend your money? Getting Messi for like 10 mil?
If we don't gamble and we are just getting players who we don't really need(i.e Allen, our midfield is hugely packed, don't get me wrong he is awesome player), then yes there is something to worry about. You don't try to force current players out, you build around them and that's what we should be trying to do. I felt like they will press strongly for Ramirez, I guess plans are going like previous years...I'm sorry I don't have your excitement about this, you had similar excitement last year. I just believe the current owners know about business, but nothing about football and Rodgers is playing their game.

Just heard from a reliable source that LFC are after Zaha, Kevin Doyle, Matt Jarvis and Adam Johnston. BR will make a move this week.

If true I will put my saving on us geting relegated

08 Jul 2012 18:26:13
Is there something happening with us or just some considering going on? Seems like every team have started to buy.

Why are Tottenham getting better players than we are interested in? We are in the same position. Both in the Europa right? I will get really happy if we get Ramirez. I don't think Fabio Borini is good enough for Liverpool.
Would really like Sturridge or Adam Johnson. Why don't we try and get Ricky Van Wolfswinkel?

How is suarez definately ruled out of the west brom game? The gold medal match is on the 11th, and they may not even make it to that stage. And the west brom game is on the 18th. I dont see how he is 'definately' ruled out.

Probably because he won't be a Liverpool player.

He will need time off I'm sure.

Square tomato

Either way he would most probably not start or get a weeks rest.

Especially as he played first game last year after only a week of training returning from Copa America.

Thesame season that he was banned for a quarter off ???

Chelski had 25 mill bid for Bayer Leverkusens Andre Schurrle turned down. So thats a player who's going nowhere.

Simoky {Ed002's Note - Are you going to do this for every play who every club bids on? Why not stick with those at some point linked with Liverpool?}

Ridiculous amount of money for a player that hasnt proved to be world class yet.RedTurk

It was 20 million euros

tI has being proven time and time again that nobody except for the inner circles of LFC know who we will be after in the transfer window.
With Martinez , Kalou and Sidg's deals complete Ba to stay at newcastle to mention a few it looks like it is going to be a frustrating few weeks. I still have faith that BR will improve our squad but I just hope it is done sooner rather than later so that we do not have to pay over the odds again in a last minute attempt to get someone.
I would be great to see the signings in soon so that the pre season can be used as a proper gelling season and not just a shirt selling campain...

Just stating the obvious..

Have we actually bid for any one yet, From what I've gathered we've bid for
Ramirez
Borini
Allen
Jovetic
Callejon
Krasic
Rondon
Sturridge
And a.johnson
Please clarify for us all ed?!

I don't get how people can say why didn't chelsea keep borini if he was good.

I've not seen him play my self but , young players leave clubs all the time and become a success elsewhere.

Pique left united for instance.

LAVERS

He left barcelona first, just to prove your point even more :)

Sorry pique is average, made to look good by the quality of barcelona, they dont do alot of defending in games.RedTurk

Redturn, what a ludicrous comment, did you watch the euros, the defence were some of their best players

"pique is average" 3 league titles, 2 champions league, 2 euro championships and a world cup and he's average. funniest post ive seen all day

Pique is one of the best central defenders in the world! "made to look good" how do you think he got in the team if he's average? Center back for the world cup and euro team so to call him average is so stupid!

Pique keeps it simple and passes to a team mate as opposed to an English centre who will just boot it down the park; Carra,Terry,Lescott for example wouldn't get near the Barca team.

And he has Shakira on his arm!!!!!

Now he is the best defender god damn didnt know that

Shakira gives him plenty of 'Waka, Waka', then he goes to work to play 'Tiki Taka'!.

i don't know if we are even looking at joe allen or if the "not signing any swansea players" clause is true or not but aside from that i don't get all the hatred for the "rumour" that we could be looking at him. I've not seen much of the guy but seems to be a decent midfielder from what i have seen. I laughed earlier when some guy was moaning that other teams had already made signings and said man u had already signed powell but we are looking at players like allen, correct me if im wrong but what has powell done in his career so far? seems to me allen has done just as much and he's done it in the premier league not league 1.

No doubt powell has potential but so does allen from what i can see. What if steven gerrard had started his career at swansea would you be up in arms if we were looking at him when he was young and playing for a smaller team and saying we shouldn't buy him and end up missing out on the best midfielder in the PL in the last 10 years just because he didn't come from a particular club?

Point is the best players don't always come with 20 million price tags from foreign clubs, who ever heard of ramirez, lavezzi, jovetic, or hazard to name a few 5 years ago? These guys were plucked from small teams for very little and developed into top players would you not rather we were developing youngsters into these kind of players rather than going out and blowing hundreds of millions like city who will make no profit (probably huge losses) on any of their signings if they sell them on

look at barcelona valdes, pique, puyol, busqets, xavi, iniesta, pedro, messi, tello, cuenca along with fabregas who returned, thats 11 players developed by the club who are all in the first team squad right now and with the exception of messi, tello and cuenca have all won a world cup and either 1 or 2 european championships

If we sign gaston ramirez then brilliant but if allen is a viable target then i will be behind him 100 percent IF he arrives i don't care if its from Swansea, Barcelona or merthyr tydfill

Great post, it gets my goat that people demand certain players, lets make those players ourselves.

tottenham have signed vertonghen, i think we've dodged the bullet there along with sigurdsson

Can't understand why bigger clubs weren't in for Vertongan. Player of the year last season, Dutch international, versatile at his peak and cheap and yet went to a club not in Champions League.

Mantis

Vertonghen is a Belgian international who isn't well liked in his native country. I also believe he was voted most hated footballer by his peers last year in Holland. I don't think he is a bad player, but he isn't world class either.

My man thinks is cods wallop but he had a glint in his eye and he whispered that he was going to sign an unknown Brazilian called Lucas moura, for 37.34 million. Can you 1) confirm this Edds and 2) can you confirm that Brendan is on twitter ( I've tried looking for him and can't find him) I wonder wether he was being truthful ? Hi Eds,

rumours circulating that Bielsa has had a fallout with the heirarchy at Bilbao. If he leaves, do you think it would make their players easier to make an offer for (Susaeta, Munian or, dare i say it, Lorrente), or would the club wait to install a new manager before entering negotiations for a player?

cheers,

Dr. Sanchez {Ed002's Note - Why would all of the players leave?}

Did biesla not resign like 3 days ago?

Not all of them, but would it make negotiating easier if we, or any other team, were after one of their players? {Ed002's Note - Why? The manager does not handles the negotiation of sales?}

08 Jul 2012 16:31:13
not a rumour more of a point of view, everyone keeps talking about our main target are:

adam johnson
daniel sturridge
fabio borini
joe allen

I for one would be very disapointed if this was true
adam johnson is the most inconsistant player in the prem and very overrated! the same goes for sturridge if hes not good enough for chelsea why should we get him hes awful!
not seen to much of borini so i cant comment on the kid, but i do think joe allens a very good player, never puts a foot wrong, good passer and likes to run with the ball

we need quality players!
the fans who are happy that we sign players like adam johnson and sturridge are probable the same fans who were crying for downing adam henderson and carroll. This is the reason why we finished 8th and will continue to unless we get better players

just my opinion anyway
Jay

In my opinion, you're being a bit unfair to both Johnson and Sturridge. I think both have talent and a lot of potential, but they both have a similar flaw in that they are relatively young and trying to break into the first team at sides that have a wealth of options (and just general wealth), thus they try too hard to score all the time. My thoughts anyway- I think with the right coaching they could both be immense, honestly.

RDL

Agreed, we need jarvis, moses and fletcher, all underated as opposed to sturridge and johnson who are overrated

I agree to a point Jay. Problem is, no matter what diehard fans think, Liverpool are not a big draw anymore. We need to work with players we can attract. Most of the big name players in the media will go to rich clubs in the CL. We cannot offer competitive wages, and lets face it, footballers aren't the humblest bunch on the planet.

This is to the guy who said about us wanting downing carrol and henderson.see your wrong we just hear who there after and get behind them try it sometime and if your so knowledgeable become a scout.oh and last year you were saying henderson downing and carrol were gonna be no good get a grip and like everyone else you were delighted when kenny got the job so get a grip man

08 Jul 2012 15:44:14
No gossip and no bull just an opinion,

i know the window has not long opened but i think its vital liverpool get a couple of players in ASAP, liverpool fans to be quite frank are expecting Nothing from next season with the current squad after last season because ultimately we were pathetic,

a couple of new faces can change all of that, put some expectation back into fans minds, we could do with an early signing in the window of real quality to make fans think twice before totally writing off next season while clubs around us improve their squads that are currently finishing strides ahead of us every season,

no point in mentioning names or targets because nobody has a clue who we will sign or even go for but it really would put some belief back into fans to see a strong signing made to the squad, this is certainly not the window to be signing 'promising' young players or players who will need time, we need players for right now to greatly improve us,

Ok, loud and clear.

JW Hendry

We were pathetic ? That's a bit harsh two finals and a lot of the time we out played team with no finishing I think people are forgetting that

Last season produced more medals than since before torres haha were the best

All you pro Rogers pro FSG posters, were were you when Dalglish was manager? I was one of the small minority on this site who was pro the manager and club last season! Funny how your all the worlds best reds now because your backing the new man to the hilt with all this in Brendan we trust crap, were was the same level of support for Kenny? Your armchair reds who profess unwavering support to the club when it suits, I take it, it was most of you who were on here last season slaggin Kenny and the club off? So in summary, don't criticise people for doing EXACTLY what you were doing last season!

Waro

The difference is, people gave Kenny the chance and he blew it. He signed bad players and looked way out of his depth.
Now people are giving Rodgers the chance, but a small group of people are ready to show him the door before he has a chance to do anything.
You call us armchair fans but we're the guys who want this club to go forward and that was not happening under Kenny. You're obviously just one of those fans who is stuck in the past hoping that soon everything will be ok.

I'm behind the new regime and proud, maybe you should show a little support too. It took some strong owners to turf out a legend like Kenny when he was the fans choice.

Red Raw

Have you ever been to Anfield? - it is always the armchair supporters who criticise more. Dalglish is without doubt the greatest player I have seen in a red shirt, but as a manager - not the greatest by any stretch of the imagination - he could have had a very very successful season, and still been in charge without his tinkering ( ala Ranieri ), Carroll should have started more games, playing breeds confidence, and his decision to play Spearing in the FA Cup Final sealed his fate in my opinion.

Footabll is a business, where winning is everything, but it is also an entertainment, Dalglish's team did entertain far more than we've had in the last 20 years - but with no end result.

John B

What a pathetic post.

I backed Kenny and the club last season. I wanted Kenny to have another season as I believed we were very unlucky in a number of games and on the whole the football we played was very good.

However, the owners decided to sack him and get in their own man. As much as I disapprove of the decision to sack Kenny, I am still 100% firmly being Rodgers.

For you to be against just because Kenny was replaced is pathetic and makes you no better than the 'fans' who criticised Kenny last season.

We as a club will not progress until all the fans unite behind the club and manager.

JRG

Unfortunately, I am one of the few who supports the club no mattered what happend, under Dalglish and Rodgers.

Kenny had the support he deserved .
kenny and his wife have done more for liverpool than just football and they should have great pride in what they have done as some things are more important than football.

I think you'll find i have unwavering support all the time whatever manager comes into the club but if performances and results don't go the way they should then a change is inevitable and i will give my full support to the new manager. So get off your high horse and stop being so narrow minded thinking that just because fans are getting behind rodgers now that they had no support last season for dalglish or any other previous manager that is just moronic. The club is moving on although you don't seem to be

Dont think any manager anywhere could have got the support king kenny got he is a legend at our club , think his team selection and tactics for the fa cup final sealed kennys fate had we won hed have got another year , but we didnt so we move on and i for one will support my team no matter whose in charge or who takes to the field i will be right behind them . at lfc you never walk alone.

Sadly I think time is up for Andy Carroll, I do feel for the lad but I think it's plain to see it will never work out for the kid with regards to us. I am sure there is a decent player there and if he goes to a club that play to his strenghts they will get a decent player but he does not fit into our pass and move style because plainly the lad can't play on the deck end of. But we need to get off his back because it's not his fault how much we paid and the fact he cannot fit into our style of play. A move away will suit both partys I feel.

Waro

I believe this is one of your very own posts waro pal, why would kenny pay such a stupid amount on a player who was clearly never going to fit into his style of play ????????

kenny had all the support i could give but it was the right time for him to move on, the job needed a young manager who could see the project through, this i feel kenny could not do at his age.
so if you are a true supporter and a season ticket holder since 1984 like you claim to be, get behind the people who saved us from administration, and get behind the new manager 100%,
kennys gone, move on pal,
the old king is dead, long live the king

'The youth is exceptional and desires a chance to strut there stuff this year. Only youth system better than ours is Barca's'

If you attended Ajax's youth's 7-0 drubbing of Liverpool in the NextGen final, you would know that Ajax's youth system is a lot better than Liverpool's. And Spurs, cos they beat Liverpool in the semi's too!

Liverpool played spurs off the park in the nextgen and hit the post twice. Spurs won it with luck. Plus if robbo, shelvey and flan played more in the tournament then we could of done much better.

Red Rout

Did you see the Spurs game, We dominated the game, with Sterling outstanding.Just didn't take our chances. The story of our season.

How did barca do in the next gen?

With overage players

Spurs may indeed have won the game.....but got their goal from a one off attack. LFC battered them for most of the match with a very young side. If I'm not mistaken Spurs played an illegible player and forfeited the tie.
Two or three of our U19 team albeit young are good enough to see first team action
next season!
2009 Captain

Did you see the spurs game? they had five players missing! all gone out on loan! they had to draught in the younger players AND still beat us! so dont give me the 'did you see the spurs game'

We didn't play Shelvey, Robinson and Flangan plus Toni Silva (our best player in the nextgen group stages) was out on loan.

Talking about drafting players in Adam Morgan(17 at the time), Raheem Sterling(17), Kristoffer Peterson (17), Jordan Ibe (16) and at some point even used Jerome Sinclair (15).

We came third in that competition for a reason. We are better than Spurs by a long way. Chelsea have a good youth team a long with Villa but I believe we are better than them. We need to start putting unused subs into the Reserve team to get them playing with better players so they can slot right in once they get their chance.

Bellamy, suarez, coates, because of olympics, and possibly lucas because of the injury

Rubbish, all those players have had their holidays and chilled out, they go to the Olympics, the rest of the squad go on pre season tour and friendlies, pretty much the same thing, as soon as the Olympics are over they will join straight up with the squad.

I'm 18 just entered college, have been supporting Liverpool for 5 years and I have to say I've never felt sodisappointed this much as of now! I personally don't think we will be in top 4 for like the coming 5 or 6 years and I'm young enough to choose another club to support. I know my age is nothing compared to the ppl I've seen here and yes I'm an Indian and maybe one day I'll be rich enough to buy the club to provide the fund needed to buy class players!
For now I'm gonna support some other club!

Fuzzy Zone

Good riddance.

As you say plenty of time to find another club to support - don't hold back - DO IT - you don't support LFC, it's a religion, it's in your blood, you feel physically sick when we lose - so goodbye, no time to lose - plenty of other clubs will welcome your support.

See you then, bye, close the door on your way out....

You won't be missed, with your attitude it's probably better all round if you supported another team, so good ridence.

We donnt need fans like you. I'm 16 its been 6 years since I've been supporting liverpool and haven't once even thought of 'supporting some other club' its liverpool or nothing. Don't blame age for the lack of passion you have for our club :)

Good luck, and see if you can get a reversible man utd/man city shirt, and you will have your options covered

Well don't come back, we don't need your like! Rome wasn't built in a day, the bad times only make the good times feel so much better.

Yes, Go ahead kid. Don't get me wrong I am also an Indian and I know a lot of Indian football fans are glory hunters. But they chose a club that is very successful and start supporting it. But to change club after 5-6 years, well you won't be missed. I hope u never reach a stage where u would buy my beloved club though i appreciate delusional dreams. Man, I am the same age as you and I have supporting for 8 years. I have experienced heartbreak and jubilation while following the club, but why would anyone think that they can choose to support the club?!

You are the true epitomy of fair weather fans of a succesful club. Its a real shame that when you ask them who is your favourite player at present, they reply with Ronaldo/Messi/Rooney etc. But ask them to name 15 players from their team, they would struggle.

Good job buddy. you have decided well. while going can you please decide not to come back to liverpool in 4-5 years time when we will be winning stuff. we dont want glory hunters like you around here. also your age and nationality has nothing to do with the club you support. i will give you an advice dont go to man utd or arsenal as they wont be winning trophies for a while too.

oldmonk

My friend i too am an Indian and 18 as well and for me its because of people like u who don't have patience or any kind of loyalty or brains tat india will be forever regarded as a 3rd world country...possibly u might have gotten a little to affected by the absurd number of plastic fans there r here supporting chelsea or manu after having watched only 2-3 seasons of football but never mind they get 1 more plastic fan in u to support them

I was just saying that its a consideration especially when my friends who support the likes of city, united,Chelsea etc who tells me Lfc are not gonna win anything! So for just a moment yea of supporting others. But the Liverpool pull is too great and that's why I stopped supporting Arsenal to go for the Reds!

This kid has a sense of humour. Ease up on him lads!

Buddy you start supporting the club in 07 maybe you should go for a team with loads of money and shiney things and why did you feel the need to state your ethinicity as the fellow posters will probably agree its is totally irrelivant

It seems to me people are missing the point with Borini. If he is really that good then why didn't Chelsea keep him instead of spending 50m on Torres? He has literally had one good season in Italy when it looked like his career wasn't going anywhere. He is not the answer to our problems.

Lewis the Red {Ed002's Note - I have explained why he let. RTFP.}

He isn't good enough.

At 18 years old you obviously know nothing about loyalty, passion or what it takes to be a true fan.
There are plenty of fans like you, I call them 'seasonal variants' (as they change their loyalties on a seasonal basis).
Do us all a favour, please go support another team, because you are not 'worthy' to be a LFC fan.
Nuff said.

Ye borini you know nothing of loyalty nothinggg

There is nothing wrong with having an opinion about the club you love. I just don't feel Borini is the answer. That's all. Personally, I don't think it is very 'fan-like' to question others level of support for the club, unless they say they want to support another team. I also find it hilarious when you say I'm clearly someone who supports different teams an a seasonal basis when you don't even leave your name after you decide to question my support.

Lewis the Red (till I die)

RTFP. That's... that's brilliant.

I don't think it is very fan-like to question one's level of support for the club, especially when you don't know them, or their age. The fact that you think an 18 year old can't be a true LFC fan shows that clearly you can't really be a true fan if you believe that.

Ramirez has completed his move to Liverpool for 14 million, heard it here first.

Source: Fifa 12 career mode

I completed the signing of neymar for 50 mil, lucas moura 49mill, and sad to say Ronaldo 79mil. Tried for messi but only had 94 mil and barca wanted 125

Get them on loan with mega future fee and then stiff them after a year works like a dream neymar cant run around for more than half a match

Unfortunatly, i am probably one of the few people who likes Borini. Borini is a class player, he has pace, a good shot on him and is a great poacher and most importantly, young.
Those who saw his performance for Roma would no doubt believe that he is a good signing.

If he is really class why did they not keep him instead of spending 50m on Torres?

Lewis the Red {Ed002's Note - I have explained why he left. Read the posts.}

Because they were sick of torres banging goals in against them haha everytime sure the two players they bought off us torres and meireles scored all our goals against them the year before haha ambramovich had a shortlist full of liverpool players

08 Jul 2012 14:51:21
Hey ed's I heard that Gaston Ramirez's future is to be decided today and he could sign today for a fee of (€20m euro's)....have you heard any further news and is a deal close or even likely to happen? Thanks YNWA!

BR to analyse the squad

What a load of BS

Who else is tired of reading this?

So BR has never seen LFC play before and he knows very little about any of the players in the first team?

Holy Cow Batman who the hell writes the book of excuses for BR?

BR is the death knell for LFC and FSG

Bring back Kenny!

Selby Haunted House

Ha , think you have seen too many scary movies .
redforever

Bring back the man who delivered our lowest league finish in years, with the lowest points total and goals scored. Hooray, you've hit the nail in the head, you're a genius..... Kenny has long been a hero of mine, and I thought he was the man to bring back the good times, but he wasn't, he showed himself unfortunately to be out of touch with the modern game, both with some of his signings and tactically. I will always respect him as a legend, but it's time to move forward.

The captain

Kenny was not given enough time.

Just one year for a complete overhaul of the team.

I hope you all judge BR in the same way as Kenny if he aint top 4 at year end all clamour for his exit.

Or will you'll say BR needs more time?

Selby

Kenny was a great player but he spent £££££££££ that players that were over priced and underperforming.

cheers mal

Why does BR need excuses? For his poor signings or our results in games so far?
You might want to wait at least until the transfer window closes and the season starts before throwing your toys out of the pram.

Red Steve

He has to see if they fit in with his system. Can they play tiki taka or not.

fellow reds and eds

i have some thought on the rameriz situation that you might want to read. Instead of running panic driven from one post to the next read my intake of what is goin on. As its been well documented liverpool like to do things there own way away from media glare. Deals for high profile players dont get a mention in papers or sly till near complition, remeber the proposed david silva deal it aparently collapsed when the media got wind. OK jordan henderson some may say not high profile but he came with a large price, the lady boy and a few others nobody new untill it was basicaly a done deal. My point being that the media or sly or liverpools official website which show in there transfer rumors part various websites such as caught offside, which have been rife with rameiz rumors. They dont in any way whant to scupper this deal so hold tight stop panicking a see it through. All the signs look good and if true its going to happen.

Nonsense, and here's just a few examples. The Suarez deal was press knowledge for at least month before he signed, Charlie Adam went to two transfers windows and both we reported extensively in the media. This summer the Siggurson Saga lasted for for 5 or 6 weeks and that too was subject to press saturation.

I don't know where you got the idea that everything Liverpool do is done behind closed doors, that plainly isn't the case. I think the truth is you have been somewhat selective or possibly a little naive in how you came to your conclusion.

Sammy

Although i agree with u i did mention high profile players, players that would atract attention from other clubs if we had a succesful bid. rameriz is atracting that kind of attention from a host of clubs so we dont want to be drawn into a bidding war. yes saurez was a big signing but surpriseingly there was not much competition for his signature. charlie adam the same and as for siggurson was the ever an official bid made or are u sure it wasnt the media making the whole thing seem like a tug of war when in reality there was no official approach.

08 Jul 2012 13:50:51
I work in the Liverpool store and we have been told to stop printing luis suarez shirts, personally I dont think he will leave its just what I have been told.

Maybe they got tired of printing suarez on the back of shirts, who else would the fans want on the back? henderson? downing? carroll? charlie adam? or spearing? :)RedTurk

I suspect you support another team iv just been online 5 minutes ago and ordered my 6 month old son a top and guess what i got saurez on the back you would have thought if what your saying is true i would have been informed this and asked to choose another name so your talking nonsense

I hope u haven't got saurez cos your kid won't be happy!

Fowler is god he's only 6 month old he wont understand if saurez does leave and he is wearing an out dated top ill just make sure all the baby photo's with him wearing it are from the front just in case lol

I don't think Allen and Borini can make a difference. They wouldn't improve the team. Borini replacing Kuyt and Allen replacing slow Adam/useless Spearing thats it..

We need players of quality who can take us to next level, we need a goal scorer, can Borini score 20-25 goals per season no.

Borini and Allen, I didn't consider it as an improvement it's staying at the same level or going down. We need to target better players.

Worried Red

Agree pal just deluded fans say there good in case we do sign um they need to live in the real world...

08 Jul 2012 14:24:41
Joe Allen is no good I hear you say, short memories.

I went to both games against Swansea and the Kid passed our midfield out of the game, we were chasing shadows,
Thats including Gerrard, Shelvey, Hendo.

I think we should trust Rodgers, he knows how he wants his team to play and he knows what players he needs to do it.

Have Faith

I for one would love a Allen and Borini as a back up striker, both who e=will be with us for years to come if they are successful.

Evered

Evered

Is Allen English?

Better than Gerrard?

Slowly going insane in the mebrane

Outplayed Gerrard against Liverpool

Sg did not play at swansea

Lol better then gerrard don't be daft an he passed backwards all the time Henderson has bags more potential than him get real...

Why the debate he cant sign swansea players for a year

Gerrard isnt the player of old was out classed by a 34 yearold pirlo hes like the rest of the england team vastly over rated

08 Jul 2012 14:17:13
Could Andy Carroll be set to make a surprise move to Italy? Reports in Italy suggest AC Milan's interest in the Liverpool striker is building as they mull over a possible loan deal. It is understood that Carroll caught the eye of club officials with the way he played for England at Euro 2012.

with spurs signing jan vertonghen & gylfi they are building a pretty good team now & fourth place getting even more difficult..
Really hope we sign some quality players soon ..

Agger is better than Vertonghen and Ramirez is better than Gylfi.

I give AVB six months.

Hey eds, if xabi alonso is not renewing his contract at Madrid then where do you think he'll end up and any chance of a return to anfield?? Cheers YNWA {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of this, sorry.}

08 Jul 2012 14:03:09

Hi eds

spurs have officially signed vertonghen they are really getting their targets r we going to get ours i know i shouldnt but i have my hopes up for ramirez and a good finisher in the Folwer mold,dont think we are that far away from being a real good team maybe some cover for jose at lb.tommy Irish Red. {Ed002's Note - It is going to be a long window if all everyone does is bleat about other teams signing players and copy nonsense from Twitter.}

08 Jul 2012 14:00:26
Wish everyone would get behind the new manager how do we no that borni and allen wont be class, i still remember when we first signed torres ever one was saying hes to light weight for thr prem and we took a big gamble for a lot of money. We only needed to turn are home form around last year and we would have done great job. Like the gaffer says 4 changes is all we need.

phil

Because i've watched um Allen is worse than Henderson for passing back an Borini is just another Kuyt don't give up but no where near class...

08 Jul 2012 13:58:41
A lot of people freaking out about the 'calibre' of targets we have. First of all just because because a player is expensive and well known doesn't mean he will turn out better than an unknown well scouted player for a cheap price. Out of the many examples there are out there most recently just look at Newcastle. Surely those people must realise in the current situation we as Liverpool have to be the club that finds the next best player, rather than buy him, because we don't have the endless cash or UCL to compete with clubs that do. We all don't like it but you have to come to terms with it.

can we all stop calling aquilani aquaman please?

I agree, it suggests a fondness for him.

Aquaman is a legend.

Don't worry, Aquaman doesn't suggest fondness because it is well known that Aquaman (the one that isn't Aqualani) is the worst of the Superheroes ever. And I mean ever.

So we are failing to land all the 'super transfer targets', horror!.
What do fans really expect, LFC is not the glorious club it once was.
Nowaday's we are just a top 10 club, with a wonderful history, closer to the relegation zone that the league winners.
Does this worry me, yes!.
But I am still a LFC fan, and will always be so.
It will a long while tiLl we are back where we belong!.

You sir are a mupet, who says any of these players are targets, have you been talking to BR lately

I don't suggest calling anyone a muppet but if you are learn how to spell MUPPET otherwise you just look like a MUPPET

When people look at us the way people now look at Leeds then I'll believe you

Lewis the Red

What is a 'mupet'.
British slang for something.
Sorry, I speak the Queens English!. Not Northern jibberish.
12 years of formal schooling might have helped, but this poster only seems to have received 6 or 7.
Just dumb!.
Shame, your mom must be so proud of her 'shining star', ha, ha!.

Sometimes, the truth hurts!.

He meant the word mupet - it's pronounced Moo-pay where he comes from.

They already do think liverpool are like leeds

08 Jul 2012 12:52:31
I think that all the people slating Allen ,woud be doing cartflips about signing him when one more top club gets interested in him.

Top of that pile would be United if he becomes available. They dont have many quality CM and will most probably go for him as he is much better than Anderson and Cleverly.

On the United site, there has been some calls for him to be signed this season if they dont get Modric and Martinez.

So as most of the haters draw comparison to United, i ask them would you like to play a midfield trio of carrick-allen-kagawa?

Because, a trio of Lucas-allen-gerard would be better.
And also if allen comes then it will be almost safe to assume that Adam and Spearing will be leaving the club.So cheer up.

Corvin

Thats the thing not one top club are in for him so proves a point, He's not good enough..

08 Jul 2012 12:52:06
Well confirmed with players we are looking at that we are a middle of the road team it's been proven with the appointment of a very average manager and also proven with the trash players we are linked with. Well agree with other fan if BR brings in the rubbish he plans to bring in he will go the same way as hodgeson.

The rains stopped, why not ask your Mum to take you to the Zoo or something?

08 Jul 2012 12:51:51
So according to Macca we can expect the club to try and sign munian soldado Allen and borini. 1 has signed a new contract an one we have agreed not to sign any players from his team, (sigh) and some people clearly 12 yr olds or those with a mental illness believe him? All this and a new ground and an announcement of naming rights to china air. All correct so far...... Why does this guy have a page I hear you all crying? Maybe because after he posted there were more than 50 comments meaning alot mire traffic to the site. Grow up lads, I mean no harm or offence but come on, fools. Please post I can copy and paste it back in till it comes on if I have too.

Macca has a page as he has had a lot of info... Alright not everything is right as things change... But he gets things like Coates, Bellamy, e.t.c weeks before anyone else... Also team selections wrote there anywhere, a lot of info on Gerrard... He also won me a lot of money on Rodgers the day he rejected the chance to talk to us.
So any thing he says is normally decent info, unlike people who say "Ramierz" signing today WATCH THIS SPACE.... From noname

G BOX

Tbf I agree with the team news stuff but the rest he plucks out the air

I really don't understand people who post cr*p like this. No, he's not the messiah, and things don't always work out the way he says they will. But, he does offer us what information he can let us know about, and I know that the vast majority of us are grateful to him. He gets more right than wrong (BR was the no.1 target as manager for example). Why bother dissing him? I can say for sure that the site is better with him posting, than without. Go sort yourself out.

Nick

08 Jul 2012 12:51:45
Allen would be a great signing.

Possession and passing is what Liverpool will be about next year and I really don't see anybody better in world football, who is available to us that is better than Allen at this.

His stats are very impressive and has always looked really good when I have seen him.

Does anybody know how much we would have to pay for him?

As for borini I don't think I have ever seen him play, like most people on here I imagine. However unlike most people on here I will not see my backside that it's not higuain and see what he does in a red shirt before I make judgement.

Any striker at all will improve our depleted striking options, I also doubt he will be the only forward coming in, just a hunch.

Thanks Macca for your info.

MIKEY

Mikey your soo gullable, never mind you can't help them all. Some of you guys live and die by macca's word, like he is actually getting his infor from mr john henry, br or the scouting team. Please guys don't fool for everything that this guy sais , even if you have a soft spot for him. RedTurk

After getting Brendan Rodgers right when no one else was tipping him macca has shown his info is top notch so if he says we are interested in a player then i believe we are no one can be right all the time but macca is right more than he's wrong.

RED KENNY

Stats mean nothing we found that out last season by buying players through reading into statistics look where that got us 8th.

I wish Redturk would bore off.

Is it raining in England today, cause many of the posts are as miserable as the weather.
It seems that the "mood" of many LFC fans is very much dictated by the weather.
'Dark, grey, stormy, rainy'.
Sad really.
Not that its any better where I am (weather that is), but at least I try to be positive!.

Other way 'round, Liverpool was probably a lovely, sunny place years ago. But they "Dark, grey, stormy, rainy" personalities of some of the fans just upset the skies

Very true. Depression and the weather are linked.

08 Jul 2012 12:46:27
I think Allen is ok nothing special not a great improvement on what we already have. Borini well someone should hide his passport because he is s**T.
Rodgers is having a laugh if he thinks these players would keep him in a job. I think we will be lucky to get in the top 9. Maxi and aquallani should have already been sold or released. Spearing should be put in a cardboard box and sent to a championship club. Adam should be sold because he makes poulsen look good. Henderson should only play in cup games because he offers nothing going forward and less going backwards. And If John Henry had any aspirations for LFC then he would dig deep and buy a top forward. Not 5 top players just a top forward who can score 15 - 25 goals a year. We have needed this for 5 years.

08 Jul 2012 12:39:33
Not surprised by the Joe Allen rumours, he looks a very good player and fits in very well with the philosophy Rodgers is looking to implement. However I think we are well stocked in that area with Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Adam, Shelvey, Spearing, Aquilani and Cole.

Allen is a player I like, but I would think the last 3 of that list would have to be moved on for him to come in.

It's clear Rodgers will bring in players who fit into the philosophy and the system he is trying to implement. If a player won't buy into his philosophy or doesn't fit into it, we won't sign them.

rumours going around that liverpool are likely to sign walcott

I'd be happy with that, a pacey winger that knows the league, and will frighten defenders. but I think the chances of him signing are slim to none.

Voices going around in your head more likely.

08 Jul 2012 12:37:56
Ed, IF Liverpool were to sign Allen, do you think that would spell the end for Adam/ Spearing? Cheers

LFC won't sign Allen for a start. Adam will be given until Jan, Spearing we are looking for takers in the championship.

Hopefully the end of both.

Papa G

Adam an even spearing seem better players to me.

08 Jul 2012 12:36:19
Get a bit bored of reading opinions from Football Manager addicts and You-tube scouts who arrogantly assume that they know what type of players we need better than Rodgers. Give the man a chance. Who thought Tiote, Papis Cisse, kabaye etc would be such a success. Sometimes the most expensive players are not the right players for the team. Get behind the manager, get behind the players and lets have us all pulling in the same direction. Stop predicting Rodgers downfall. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
THE QUAGGAR

Most people thought tiote cisse and 'kabaye' would be successes, the class was there for all to see

Saw Macca's post and thought BR why why
Joe Allen & Fabio Borini ?

BR why why

So I decided to take charge and do something about it.

Dear god :
Please please dont do this to me I have been a good person this year
please make liverpool sign Messi & Ronaldo and if that is to much I'm willing settle for Gaston Ramirez.
Thanks in advance Tom.

Sincere picture of Rodgers in garlands last night. Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that our new coach is galavanting in crap nightclubs whilst he should be signing us some actual good players.

Maybe he was scouting. Lol
Maybe he can't sign players in the middle of the night.
Maybe it was a weekend and he had a day off.
Maybe you should get out more yourself.

MIKEY

Could have been worse, could have been an insincere picture of him. You are joking though, BR's not allowed to leave work and enjoy himself until he signs new players. Get a grip for gawds sake.

Was he on his own?, He might have been having a team bonding session with some of the players/staff ?, that would have been useful as well. Every one deserves a night out once in a while.

a bit weird that lfc actually posted a video of sturridge on the rumour round up page......i dont think they have done that before but im not sure :S

BADGER

They have done it for loads of players on the rumours round up

They've done it with more then a dozen players, must be your first time on the site.RedTurk

The LFC media watch is no ssource of genuine interest in a player on ly a reproduction of the medias opinions (including you tube videos) .

They had a story on there yesterday about Borini that stated his ownership was not sorted out , which clearly we know has making the story a few weeks old .

Damn sorry guys.........i have been on the site many times but i rarely check rumours sections and i have never seen a video before on there until now. my bad.

One thing i'd like to ask though eds, before i take sabbatical

This Supposed agreement with Swansea to not sign players. Is there actually anything in place, or is it merely speculation? I can't recall hearing anything from either LFC or Swansea as to whether an actual agreement has been made? Or perhaps it's just managerial etiquette?

Cheers.

Are we looking at John Guidetti as an option as a backup striker and is there any interest in Roberto Firmino? I know John is young but I think he can be real Class in a few years time, same with Firmino.

08 Jul 2012 12:10:57
gutted just been told by senior player that rodgers is mulling over borini and joe allen these are not liverpool material i cant see how they will improve the team id be happy signing ramirez and muniain and assessing the rest of the team looking at the team last year lb was a problem also lack of goals so carroll and enrique need to pick there game up although carrolls performances got alot better whereas enriques got worse

You mean you read macca's post dumb ars

Surely if you were in BR's position you would sign a player based on how skillful he is, rather than a big name that thinks he is skillful. (dare I use this as an example), would you sign given the choice..... Michael Owen or say Jackson Martinez.

08 Jul 2012 12:07:35
Hey Eds,

I really hope that Macca is wrong with Allen and Borini.....

What could they bring to the team that we don't already have!

Shelvey is better than Allen....

And Borini is not a goal scorer that we are crying out for...

We need 3 class players not 2 or 3 average players...

Thatracoonstolemybacon

Allen would bring class and a calm head to the midfield, something we've not had since alonso left, and borini would bring goals, something we lack desperately. Both would improve what we have, both would help us get back into the top 4, where then we could start looking at 'superstar' names if necessary. Sick of all this negativity, it's clear to see that these players would improve us.

The captain

Where does all this hype about Shelvey come from? He is about as mobile as Adam. Will be loaned out this season again. I think Henderson should be too, but he won't.

Totally agree with that whatever his name.

08 Jul 2012 12:06:08
OK.

Same story as when we were interviewing managers.
I'll come back on here when some news comes from the club!
Absolutely no protest towards the club, in fact i love the way we handle business and i personally hope the players we sign are so under-rated and unexpected that all you negative boobs on here have to eat your words this season.

But i'm just over it for now, there seems to be idiots everywhere at the moment. No knowledge of the game, no view towards new styles of play, no clue about what constitutes a good player, no patience and simply no clue! football in England is becoming the "boy in the bubble" of the world game, evolution and revolution alike, are good thing people!

I apologise to the good posters on this site and the true fans of this wonderful club, you know who you are. But i'm honestly embarrassed at the moment, i'm sick of trying to explain things to irrational and much less than understanding people.

See ya in a few weeks when we make some signings and all the senior players and olympians alike, have returned.

F*****G OVER IT!
Peace.

Red7.

Couldn't agree more Red7!!

Well said Red7 !!!!!!!!!

Hi Eds,

First of all I would like to address all this negativety towards the potential transfer of Allen, this lad is a class act and should not be in any way compared to the transfer of Charlie Adam, people obviously are assuming he's not good enough as he's a Swansea player but I genuinley believe this lad was integral and hugely influential to the great season that they had! Also Eds, I know you don't ever like to speculate on prices of potential targets however with regards to the Borini rumour I have heard a range from 7m - 20m, any idea what the price would be more close to?

Thanx

Will everyone stop critizing BR who ever he wants to sign we should back him weather thats joe allen or borini or daniel sturridge or anyone else BR wants to sign we have to back the manager in rodgers we trust!

Weather without joe allen

Back him or not, he just has to win games.

Am pretty fed up of reading complaints, this player isn't good enough, that player needs to leave etc etc. we are where we are, all us fans can do is SUPPORT the manager and whatever players he happens to think are right for his way forward.
sorry for irony of complaining about complaints!

Not being funny but have you ever seen Allen play? Full of energy, can attack, defend, pass, shoot, very skillful and most importantly can play the system Rodgers want. Not seen Borini play, so I will not comment on him, but Allen is just a class act. {Ed028's Note - Great post hate seeing people think they know everything about football when they know nothing , watch allen play then try to say hes average.}

-----------------------------------------------------

We dumb fans who know nothing about football were saying the same thing when Footballing genius Kenny Dalglish amazed us and bought Downing, Carroll for mouth watering prices.. we all know what happened and perhaps we are guessing what might happen

A dog wouldn't bark without a reason.

Worried Red

Worried red if you dont like what you hear on the site dont come on it, expecially when the eds and the rest of us know more then you so called supporters who slate the club every day. allen is a quality player and fits perfectly into brendans type of play. i can tell that your just the type of supporter that sees someone can do a fancy stepover and thinks yeah hes good but sees a young lad get one of the highest pass sucess in the world in the hardest league and say hes not good. please think before you write.
weymouth red

Have no fear worried red BR is here.

Unless the dog is stupid

Allen is essentially a key element of creating an effective tikki-takka style due to his extremely accurate short passing and great tatical awareness. He is a very disciplined, confident and clever player that controls the midfield with style. These are his attributes and they serve the purpose of controlling games and creating a consistent base for the team and importantly for the attackers to receive the ball in dangerous positions at the right time. With Lucas Leiva next to him they could form the most impressive centre midfield partnership in the league.

Where does that leave the 'potentially great' Henderson or the 'brilliant prospect' Shelvey? lol

Imo allen is like a young Xavi who can run the midfield witha dm alongside him, allowing the likes of Gerrard to burst forward n help suarez n carrol out, though i hope we do not sign allen at the expense of ramirez. I would love to see both in a liverpool jersey next season.

Hi Eds & Reds,

Eds, ye must be rather tired of telling people who are worried with 50 days of transfer window left that the reason rodgers has not signed anyone yet that he has not had a chance to fully assess squad. Bloody hell, i'd be more worried with 50 minutes left of transfer window left and no one signed. Sigh....

martinez has gone to porto, cross another one of our list

Looked like a decent player for that kind of money, and most people had never hear'd of him, but I think even if Brendan came in earlier, would he have wanted to sign him??, I'm sure his scouts are looking for a hidden gem that also we've never or hear'd little of. The club doesn't have to spend 10,20,30mil for a decent goal scoring striker. The names, Javier Hernandes, Nikica Jelavic and Gary Hooper spring to mind and prove you don't have to spend silly money.

Downing- never rated him when he came terrible signing by dalglish

Javi Martinez...No chance City have been quoted £32.000.000

Probably because not as much a rumour as a question to everyone. What do you think should and will happen with Aquilaini? My opinion has always been that he is a great passer of the ball but does not like the physical side of the game so much, also not a great goal scorer. But with Rodgers undoubtedly going to implement a form of keep ball football would this suite Aqua do you think? Personally I can understand any footballer being unhappy playing under Hodgeson I watched England and it was just like watching Liverpool under him and if your a technically gifted player you would not like to play that style. So can understand him wanting to go back to Italy, under Kenny maybe less so but had been back and could play for AC so maybe understandable at that time also. Now the Italians have all sacked him off, Juve and AC didn't take up their chances to buy, maybe he will have something to prove and will be playing in a team which should be lauding passing ability above all else. In my opinion if after all these years there was a chance for Aqua to be any kind of success at Liverpool this could be it.
What do you think guys? Eds and all.

Cheers

Jay {Ed002's Note - For future reference putting any nonsense about "never post my stuff" etc. just gets posts deleted.}

Well it's only 8 days in to the transfer window but look at Spurs, Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man UTD well they have done some business of some extent. All of them finished above us. Even that neverton team is buying players. If they are improving their team, we who finished below all of them certainly need to improve ...

And people can you stop mentioning Man City, they don't need to buy, they have enough quality players in their ranks, they won the title, their second team is even good enough to beat us off and to challenge for title.

We finished a record low 7th, still not much to improve eh... well I am not just talking about buying some players for the sake of buying but buy some quality player and make an impression... all it seems BR assessing the squad and at the end pay 20M for Borini, 15M for Allen.!!!

Medicority our class, fallen far behind,
Not much hopes for next season... well if best 5th, No top 4, UCL playing clubs comes in calling for Suarez, Pepe, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, they leave.. and even if the leave I wouldn't hold any grudge against them they are top players if LFC can't match their ambition it's the best option to Leave.

Thanks Kenny we wouldn't have achieved that 7th spot if it isn't for you... thank you for dragging us far down..

And to FSG.. who seems trying to act smart and knowledgeable.. I hope your philosophy don't put us in Championship sometime very soon. Money is now everything in Football.. lots of example seen everyday eg - RVP and Arsenal.Chelsea and Fernando torres, Man City.. every top player won't be a Gerrard or Carragher giving his whole career to the club.

Now success is there where there is money.

Worried Red

Brendan Rodgers hasnt even had time to see everyone train so how can you expect him to buy players already. Watch his interviews and listen to what he says, transfers arent completed in a day. Go and play football manager u troll.

What a post, if success is based on money and we started throwing money to buy players and some other rich owners buy some more PL clubs and started doing same then what we do?.. We have good core players and look at youngsters, Sterling, Texiera, Sama, Sinclair, Baio, Ibe, Coady, Suso, adjoran, Robinson, Morgan,Smith and few more, we do have good future and only few tweaks is needed..LFC have been top 4 in spending and wages for last 10 years and it hasnt worked and you think spending more money would work?.. I dont care what other buy as we have panicked before and paid over the odds for players,,remember its not best players but best team wins and we have good platform and it will take time but im sure we will turn things around..im sure in future LFC could be sucessfull and you could change your name from worried Red to Cheerful Red...

Worried Red

This thanking Kenny business is vey immature

Kenny did many wonderful things for LFC

I think by now we all know that LFC doesn't have the big money you speak of and so desperately want so that it could be spend, spend, spend. So for you as a fan you might want to consider your options: following a big money club and that way you wouldn't be so worried OR alternatively sit back, relax and enjoy the ride; you might be surprised!

08 Jul 2012 10:44:37
Hi Eds. I jus donu understand what br is doing right now. he says on skysports that he has full control of transfers, y hasnt he bought any1 yet. the problem with lfc is tat they take far too long to bid for player e.g. gylfi sigurdsson they took far too long for him and now he is at spurs. Br needs to replace downing. i reckon we will be lucky if we get 10 million for him. Elia has been granted his transfer request frm juventus and he can play as a winger or second striker and he will cost 6-7million and that will leave 3-4million extra from the sale of downing. {Ed019's Note - Calm down, it's only the 8th of July}

Brendan Rodgers stood firm on gylfi's valuation which is a strong stance so that was good to see. Elia is not a good player, he is just quick. Stop watching youtube videos and coming out with utter rubbish. Fabregas, Henry, Adebayor, Van Persie, Clichy, Sagna, Song etc All Arsenal players that were fairly unknown who have become world class players. It is not the name on the back of the shirt that you spend money on , it is the ability. FSG very much wanted to implement aspects of the Arsenal model and we will do that.

You don't understand what he's doing now?
Probably coaching the team through training?

rodgers is a great manager but we have went from targeting soldado munian and susaeta to now targeting two overpriced average players that we dont need. If i was doing transfers it would be munian and ramirez. That would be all. Thanks jc.

Well if Rogers cannot pick the right players - how is he a great manager?

What has the great manager won except promotion forom the championship to the EPL hardly makes him a candidate for Barca.

So you think Rodgers is a great manager but not quite up to your standards at identifying the players we need :(

08 Jul 2012 10:22:04
Paulo Diabala and Mauro Caballero, are 2 young players heavily linked with moves to big european clubs, to the best of your knowledge have we shown any interest in either?
I'm struggling to grasp why we would look at someone like Dempsey when for the same money have these 2?
Some on here would have, Gerrard, Cole, Maxi, Bellamy, Dempsey,Alonso all in their 30's with no resale value, I think whilst BR develops the teams style of playing we should be spending most of our money on the best Kids, so that in 2 years time we can compete for the title instead of aiming for a fourth place.
I am I the only one that remembers the owners saying it will take 4 to 5 years to get us back where we belong when they first took over?
RNred

At last a bit of common sense, well said!,im sick of the X-factor generation who demand instant success and don't understand that it doesnt last.to have sustained success you have to start with the youth and be patient,Rafa started this so if BR keeps adding quality younsters we will see the benefits within the next 2/3 years.Us fans have the easy bit all that is required of us is to stick together and support the boys on the pitch, not constantly wingeing that we aint signed a "marque signing" because its not going to happen get over it and get back to what we USED to be the best at SUPPORTING..........

I think it's clear that we are in desperate need of two, quick, skillful wingers who can both score and creat goals. But it's how Brendan Rodgers can best utilise them in whatever his set up will be. There are three different ways to play wingers; have two out and out wingers, both who hug the line i.e. Bale and Lennon.
The second is to have one winger who hugs the line and the other who cuts inside. The third is to have both wingers cutting inside. Personally I would have one winger who cuts inside and one who hugs the line. There seems to be less and less quality wingers (with the excemption of Bale and Lennon) who can hug the line. With the third option, everything becomes too narrow (watch Bayern in the champions league final).
With my way, you can have two different types of crosses; one who pulls back from the byline, and the other who cuts inside, and puts deeper, floated crosses in. I would have my inside forward on the right hand side as finding right wingers who hug the line is pretty hard (4 years of Kuyt as a right winger). Ramirez seems like a good choice for the left wing. My personal choice for a right sided inside forward was Bryan Ruiz of Fulham, as I explained in my Liverpool Team post. Personally I think he was unlucky not getting his move to Arsenal or Spurs, and was so desperate to join the premier league he joined Fulham without assessing his options. But he is quality, and fits this role well. Plus I couldn't think of anyone better who would be realistic. Anyway that would be my way of playing the wide men;

Inside Forward - Ruiz
Left Winger - Ramirez
Attacking Midfielder - Gerrard
Striker - Suarez

I would sell Agger and Skrtel for £20m each if I knew we would defo get Vertonghen for about £9m and play either Carra or Coates along side him.
Agger is to injury prone and even tho Skrtel has just had a good season, that has just boosted up his figure and not that good anyway, his positioning and reading the game is poor.
PT77

Let's sell all our best players should get millions
John

Agger has just had his first season without injury problems and it seems the worst is behind him. I don't know how you can call yourself a fan and want to sell one of the best defensive partnerships in the league

Lewis the Red

Vertonghen is far better than Agger and there are betta centre backs then Skrtel.
I'm not saying sell all our best players but it wouldn't surprise me of they did and replaced them with mediocre players.
I getting a little cheesed off coz we're not signing quality players and other teams will beat us to them. We're not in the champions league so we need to act fast.
PT77
P.S I am a real fan and supported Liverpool Foitball Club for 29yrs!!

I would let skrtel go for a big offer but not Agger.

Ok, Vertonghen is IN NO WAY better than Agger, and Martin Skrtel is so under-rated it's not funny, people rate Vidic but not Srktel. Idiots!
So sell them for 20m each, then have to buy equally good players? you'd need to spend at least 20m each player to buy them in, then their wages would be higher anyway. People say Lovren, yes i agree he'll be an amazing defender and in fact, already is. But he'd cost more than 20m whether people choose to believe it or not.
Then what? replace Agger with somebody in the same league as him? there may be 2 or 3 other defenders in the world as good as him, and they're going to cost anywhere north of 20-30m.

This is one of the problems with everybody idolising attacking players. None of your average punters these days know what makes a good centre half, and even when they have an idea, they fail to understand just how important they are to a team. To add, even if two CB's aren't amazing on their own, the two of them can still make a great partnership. Centre halves should never be assessed on their own, they should be thought of as a pair, and a pair only! The opposite is also true, the two defenders you have may be amazing in their own right, but never form a successful partnership.

Red7.

U 'Supported' liverpool for 29 years? Seems u have moved on to another club.

Didn't Skrtel win our player of the year award? Isn't Vertonghen at Tottenham now? Didn't you post this yesterday? Aren't we only going for Swansea players? Am I as ridiculous as I sound?

I'm sick of the Suarez rumours. He won't be leaving, unless an offer comes in that we can't refuse (40+ million). Even then Suarez would have to agree personal terms, and he has stated he is happy at Liverpool. All I'm saying is that we should really expect Suarez next season.

Okay, enough of the rant. I actually have a rumour...

Fabio Borini is probably coming to us. Will bring youth to us and will be a good rotational player will maybe Sturridge or Carroll. Obviously Suarez being first choice.

I really don't understand Rodgers as he is going to spend money on two average players that will not make a difference to Liverpool football club. We have kids better than these two so just give them a try if you are not going to buy players that will improve us like Ramirez etc.

Thanks jc.

08 Jul 2012 09:11:13
I am really disappointed in Rodgers for targeting average players like borini and Allen.

Totally agree mate we have Henderson he is way better than Allen so don't understand it my self!

Actually I don't think Allen is average as I said earlier but Swansea will make us pay a ridiculous price and we don't really need him. A more advanced creative midfielder would be better like Ramirez and a winger like Munian and that would do.

...and if Allen came from Arsenal you'd be over the moon, while the player'd cost thrice as much! and give Borini a break, you've probably never even seen him play!

Do you really know who his targets are?

Just as a side note, Maxi has told the club he wants to leave and we won't stand in his way. He should re-join Newell's Old Boys later this week.

We've only made 1 bid so far, for Sigurdsson but we all know what happened there, our 2nd bid of the Summer will be launched midweek for Gaston Ramirez after talks with Bologna.

Thanks, Mr M.

After running some data through my transfer rumour analysis machine, I can at last reveal the best possible option for LFC.. Xabi Alonso is without doubt the best option we have - its a long shot but we should go for it, we haven't been the same since the day he left. Come home Xavi

If I were Rodgers I'd start making noises and start sounding the situation out. Even if it took til next summer.. What a player! Why did you let him go Rafa?

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque has invited Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, 39, to the Euro 2012 winners' training camp to discuss ideas and philosophies.

Did he go Ed? {Ed002's Note - No. The offer came before he took the Liverpool job and he declined to join them at the Euros. THis was dealt with two or three weeks ago.}

i think this is the best pass and move team we have at present but i think we need a 20 goal a season forward with suarez replacing rodriguez on the right and gaston rameirez will fit nicely on the left replacing joe cole.
then we need a low cost left back and defensive midfielder to act as a cover

Think in relation to Joe Cole, BR has played a blinder. Joe Cole is arguably one of England's most creative players and is hungry to prove himself to the LFC fans. Can see him unlocking that tight defense and provided that much needed flair which we lacked last season. Welcome home Joe, show us what you've got...

Woozer

He is one of England's best paid players too.

I watched every game he played in a red shirt and saw maybe 40 seconds of quality in total. He has a lot to prove if he stays at Lfc

Had a very decent season last season and is now actually fit after having played a lot of games.
When he came to us, he was coming off not having much game time the previous season and he picked up a suspension and then an injury very early on with us.
You can't deny his quality.

Joe Cole is a saleable asset again having played well in France (don't let that fool you?) and BR like any good Manager is only too willing to talk him up. Someone out there will take the bait and snap him up; hopefully!

Joe Cole si not good enough. Why pay 90k a week for an average player who is not gonna get into our starting 11? Lt him go n sign a younger player who actually will have a future at our club.

hey eds and everyone

rodrigo romano, the uruguayan journalist has further updated the situation with ramirez. whether its true or not, its still quite interesting to follow. its from twitter, i know, not very reliable, but like i said, still interesting

He tweeted: Si seguro, las negociaciones están avanzadas e incide mucho que en Liverpool hay 2 uruguayos

Which means when translated: If safe, negotiations are advanced and affects much that there are 2 Uruguayan Liverpool

sorry for the twitter post. hopefully something will come to fruition in regards to ramirez, would be a wonderful player for lfc.

quick question eds, would we most likely see a 4-3-3 formation under Rodgers.?? or something similar to that?

Cheers YNWA

Now that macca has calmed down the Ramirez rumours, it will be interesting to see how many posters suddenly backtrack on their 'he's going to sign this weekend' statements.

Nah mate, they'll just find a new target and say the same thing. They never backtrack, the just ignore the fact they ever said it.

Just becos macca said he hasn't heard anything does not mean it isn't happening. By the way how can we go for allen when we told swansea we wont go for there players, ask yourself that. I highly doubt we after borini aswell, from what ive been told he aint good enough. RedTurk

He also said were interested in Allen?guess we'll see if were a club with integrity or not.
However Swansea have a new manager and he may want to bring in his own players, so their Chairman maybe happy to do buisness on his terms.

Good logic there RedJurk.
I bet he hasn't heard any news about us signing Cavani and Pastore, so they must be coming!

Always grateful
gareth {Ed002's Note - It is disproportionally higher on the Liverpool pages.}

Even other teams' fans prefer the Liverpool pages. They are only human, I guess.

If liverpool got rid of
Adam
Downing
Aqua
Cole
Spearing
Doni/jones

Your looking at 300k+ a week of the wage bill and would recieve a fair few million of the transfers. Then we can begin to spend on better quality. Although it looks like sig is of to spurs i rate him very highly and may regret it in 4/5 years time when he is at his peak. I know its not as easy as that just flogging a few players but it has to be done

Mason

Spend on better quality? which will cost more won't it? In both transfer fees and wages! Christ, Adam and Downing are not leaving, they may have had a disappointing season which led some of you guys to WANT them out, that doesn't mean they're going to leave now does it?

Red7.

Why sell our back up goalie? We'd only have to than get another one. Makes no sense. Adam has to be given another chance to live up to the hype he arrived with, as does Downing.

If you get into that way of thinking we end up with a similar problem we had under benitez. great starting 11, poor squad.

Cole is getting a little older but is more technical than many players we have, and extremely skillful too, just lacks confidence-he will stay and i'm pleased myself.
Aqua i would love to see the back off, but not because i do not rate him but his attitude is awful

Downing i think will have a good year, but we did pay well over the odds for him

Adam, i think will do well also and needs time

Spearing i think we should sell or loan out

Doni-quality but seems sad to see him sat on bench every game, so should sell

Id sooner get rid of gerrard and suarez

yes, im kidding

What's the chance of getting matias suarez and ramirez to link with luis think that should do us.

The Ramirez story seems to be gathering pace. (probably same source), if it happens, he is skilful young player in the Italian league. Do you think he would adapt as well as Suarez did in the premier league.

Why not? People still seem to have this perception that the Italian league is more like Croquet than football, i think it's the British media! Everywhere else in the world, people LOVE Italian football, and it's hard to deny some of the talent that's been through there over the years. The only reason they have a lot of older players is that most young players are nowhere near experienced or intelligent enough to play there, it takes somebody like Del Piero or the like, to succeed at a young age. So if Ramirez is playing well and more importantly, playing well CONSISTENTLY, especially for Bologna, he's got it!

8/9 days into transfer window and im getting restless. i know we have heard people from club say we prefer to do our biz in private but top clubs are getting in early so that new players have more time to bed-in.
my fear is that even the B and C list players we are after, are having doubts abt coming to us. they dont really know anything abt Rodgers and without champs league football and serious shortcomings when it comes to us challenging for top 4, players are reluctant to come to us.
others posters have mentioned here all the different factors affecting our ability to attract to players (lack of CL footy, finances, low title prospects, uncertain future, wage constraints, unproven manager etc) and its quite worrying how we are being linked to players from SPL, league 1 etc.
its a very sad situation and as much as we would like "top" players, i feel we will have a very tough season ahead and mid table beckons.
as for transfers, i would prefer to go for existing prem players, at least there wont be the excuses that they need time to get used to league.
players like paul robinson, hoilett, huddlestone, defoe, sturridge, a. johnson, walcott, agbonlaor, moses, rodellega etc.
yes it hurts me a lot to suggest those names and not lavezzi, cavani, higuain, villa, rodrigues etc but we are where we are.
sorry for doom and gloom but we have to be realistic.

I'm thankful i don't see life as bleekly as you do

The players you want Liverpool to sign are second rate and no better if not worse than we already have!!

Just to sum up the stadium issue as some people have ask about it. Both options are still on the table at the moment and it hasn't been decided which one we will pick one being the new build and next being the redevelopment of Anfield. A July deadline for a decision which had been set has been allowed to slip as talks continue between LFC and the mayor of liverpool. He said that
"We are in regular meetings with Liverpool FC and we are working with the club. It's frustrating for the local residents and they are my main concern. We are pushing for a speedy resolution to the issue of whether the club stays at Anfield or goes to Stanley Park but we are encouraged by the discussions."

Hi eds, just seen the brazilian olympic squad and all i can say is wow. What a team. Do we have interest in any of them? And if so could a bid be made before the olympics as i feel their value could rocket WHEN they win gold. Jayo

The uruguay team is pretty damn good aswel

Brazil won't win it, my prediction is Mexico.
