Ok, I understand to a degree why people think Glen Johnson should have ' kept his mouth shut' because we do want to move on , but please stop and think about what you are saying. He didnt call up a newspaper to voice his opinion , he was asked a question and he answered it honestly. He spoke the truth as he saw it. It's dangerous and sad if the truth cannot be spoken because it 'upsets' people (eh ed 2?)

Dara D

And McGrath responds with ˜I thought supporting a player ” Evra ” with the same colour skin might not be such a bad idea for Johnson. When he is 52 and not as popular as he is now, he might think differently'.
An even more foolish statement from McGrath

I agree that there is a serious danger of opinion no longer being tolerated, particularly where Liverpool Football Club and those associated with the club are concerned. It was deemed acceptable for Ferguson, McGrath, and the entire media to have an opinion, as long as that opinion attacked Luis Suarez and Liverpool Football Club. It should be equally acceptable for Liverpool players, staff and supporters to express their views. I admire the solidarity our players our players are displaying.

Red Owl

I agree'd with johnson, everythin he said was tru, and then i seen Mcgraths reply and it jus made me laugh, i couldnt even finish it, i find it funny Mcgrath called Glenn 'sad' for havin a pop at him, so what does that make Mcgrath for what he said about Glenn? Makes me laugh.

Guys and Eds who would have been the better player for us Afellay or Honda?

Honda - world class player

Liverpool should buy Tello,Podolski and pedro. This would gome to a total of around £43.7m. sell caroll. Play podolski with suarez strikers. Pedro LM and Tello either RM or striker.

I think you'll find Podolski is going to arsenal, because he wants to go to arsenal, and he is wanted by arsenal. Any of that you don't get?

About £43.7 mill. How precisely imprecise!

That's a very exact price i'm guessing they cost that much on fifa? Why would Pedro leave Barca to join Liverpool, believe it or not every player isn't a secret Reds fan waiting to sign for us. So it might be easier to support the lads already at the club and focus Sunderland at the weekend.

always a red

SOLDADO is the player for me that lfc should try to snap him then podoski

I would rather have de Jong instead of soldado and also I would take gaston ramirez

Let me add to the post above, soldado is now 25+ and isn't going to come cheap, while de Jong( just as prolific) is 23 and cheaper.

liverpool need watch muniain,llorente,herrera,javi martinez,susaeta and de marcos..what the young squad
all play in group...simple touch and through ball..
very joy too watch..i never watch MU game full..but atletico attract me to watch that game..

llrorente better than carroll
herrera better than henderson
muniain and susaeta better that downing
javi martinez better than adam
so?

Why dont we just buy there squad and hope for instant success and if that don't work sell them all and buy another squad.

King luis

Llrorente was not for sale
herrera wanted in Europe
munian and susaeta didnt want to leave
Javi martinez still might come
so?

That why they can produced good game and win..because their player very good in technical not tactical...liverpool play in good tactical but dont have player good technical...that why liverpool at 6 now..

08 Mar 2012 22:03:11
Lorente Martinez and muinain or Henderson downing or Carroll we are crap and kenny has really bought badly bring back raffa Spanish is the way to go look at tello last night class
Jeff

... & were these players you mention available & wanting to join LFC?

The simplicity of your logic reflects on how simple your mind works Jeff - be careful before posting next time mate.

LIVERPRES

Is this man simple or been talking to many drugs.he has watched athletico and named there players as the best.if i remember right did newcastle not beat the mancs 3-0 so should we be in for there players.
bilboa are still 5th in the spanish league lets not forget and who's to say these players want to join.
and for herrera been better than hendo go have a word with urself.llrorente will not go anywhere and hit the ground running he always needs time to settle.
muniain will not be a liverpool player end of.
i personally would take ramirez and de jong,dejong a proving goal scorer and ramirez versitile around midfield ad probs look at keita aswell for experience in europe

Munain... Munain .... Munain..... All I want for Christmas is youuuuuuuu

my fellow countrymen showing man u who rules.. Come on Kk get this player

Spanglish Red

Never going to happen

You say never??? well.... let me tell you for a fact I know........Munian Erickson and Hazard will be playing for us next season...cause I am signing them up for Fifa 13 :)

Spanglish Red

He's quiet the player, but for 40m? That's simply to much. He's unproven, and a tad bit immature. I don't want him to come and be uncomfortable with the " climate" as rossi was for the mancs

08 Mar 2012 22:00:12
Evening Eds, do we have any interest in Muniain? His passing and movement game along with his age mean he is perfect for both Kenny's type of football and FSG's policies...
Cheers
Kenny2 {Ed002's Note - At the right price there would be plenty of interest. Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao - and the two clubs in England that were approached recently were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros. They won't get it. I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has shown himself to be pretty immature. Roma interest is still there but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

08 Mar 2012 22:00:11
ed, Liverpool need to buy christian tello to play with Suarez and Fabregas or Nasri to play alongside gerrard. Sell caroll he is crap!

Munian looks a player
AL

08 Mar 2012 21:52:26
Whoever said munain is not worth the money should eat their words. He is worth every penny. Pure class

Not for 40 mill, they said that about torres and his 50 mill bein a bargain for chelsea, look how that worked out, i dont think anyone will be lettin go of that sort of money for any player, unless its City

Full credit to Athletic Bilbao and their fans,never seen a team take it to united like this at old trafford, never seen away fans create such an atmosphere for their players....three players that stand out, Martinez at the back, Munian in midfield and Llorente upfront....

Do you not remember our 4 goal drubbing of them not so long back.
huddz red

'never seen away fans create such an atmosphere?' are you a Chelsea supporter?

You should have been there when just over 2000 of us shut them up and emptied their stadium after 80 odd minutes mate.

08 Mar 2012 21:36:50
Bilbao are giving the mancs a footballing lesson, excellent to watch ;)
They should be 1-5 up by now but I think the end of the europa league road for the mancs.

Id bet they get a last minute penalty

Amazing insight to call the last minute penalty... Never see those given when United are loosing at home! The handball being outside the box was irrelevant, as was the corner which wasn't a corner, and the time for another corner which followed! Oh well, at least they can blame being utterly outplayed on Evra's missing boot!

Wayne Rooney is so bang average it's frightening!

Did you hear the commentator, "old trafford isn't a fortress, it's a gift shop". lol. that munian looks good as well.
huddz red

What does it say when our bang average striker has scored 18 goals in the league, which is twelve more than your top scorer.

I see you boys are struggling to find things to do on week nights lol

The irony of your statement is a tragic contradiction...I took the statement as tongue in cheek. Each to their own.

I would love to know who chose Carroll over Llorente. He's given a masterclass in the art of playing as a striker, something our number 9 should be doing. San Jose looks to have grown into a wonderful player as well.

Berry_sXe

No one chose Carroll over Llorente. If you look it up we tried for Llorente first but were told he wasnt for sale. {Ed001's Note - we asked them to name their price but they refused to even discuss selling him, that was after they rejected 35m for him.}

We went Llorente first! Bilboa would'nt entertain us even at 35mil

Isn't hindsight fantastic.........

Llorente and Muniain terrorising United! Llorente is what we wanted Carroll to be. A big physical striker with a touch and a bit of class like Llorente is a real handful unfortunately for Andy he has neither. I know we had interest in him before we signed Andy didn't Llorente himself say we bid for him? but could we rekindle our interest if Carroll leaves? Hope so... wouldn't be cheap.
The Gooch

Llorente is almost 28 yrs old, Carroll just turned 23. Shouldn't be comparing the two. Carroll is a much, much better player than Llorente was when he was 23, Llorente peaked when he was 25/26 yrs old. Carroll will be awesome, just have to wait. Anyways, if someone else was banging them in I doubt it would be an issue.

I think that last saturdays performance was arguably our best so far this season. I think one of the reasons for this is that Adam and Gerard cannot play together and that one of them should play and be complemented by Spearing.
I said this before the cup final when the teams were announced and got abuse for saying that Spearing should have started, I believe if he had started instead of either Adam or Gerard it would have been a far more comfortable victory.
But again I'd like to say it was a really good performance last saturday and should have been out of sight by half time, and if it wern't for some sloppy defending we would have won
Dr A

Adam's got progressively worse since Lucas got injured. We do lack balance and Jay is a good little player, but not up to Lucas's standards.

We'll look a lot more robust when he returns next season.

Papa G

I think you'll find Carroll not playing is a factor in improved possession.
kidmillions

Dr A Firstly if it was our best performance of the season then we would of won! Secondly Gerrard never played on Saturday!

To the post above, i think he knows that, hence why he said he thinks it was one of our best games and then used wembley game as an example of why it doesnt work

Llorentes goal, great anticipation by the lad, turn of pace and created his own space. Carroll would've opted to place himself between two defenders or the shoulder of the furthest defender from the ball, make a ridiculous attempt to head it then wave his arms around in order to give fodder to the 'he doesn't get the service brigade'.

Ozone

Carroll should be watching this game he might learn few things from Llorente.

Id be happy with their manager.the way he has them playing.

Their manager is working with class player's! which do'es make his job easier!

08 Mar 2012 20:53:19
I've been saying it for ages but I'm gonna say it again, I wish we had/would sign Llorente.
As for all those who have criticised KK and some of our performances this season to the point of calling for his sacking let me remind you of this famous quote which, for me, sums up our situation..
"Sometimes it's necessary to go a long distance out of the way in order to come back a short distance correctly."

08 Mar 2012 20:51:37
I hope Carrolls watching Llorente tonight, he might realise what a centre forward is.

Ozone

Carroll is no less a centre forward, than you are a supporter.

LIVERPRES

Aye up don't tell me, he hasn't been getting the service!

Ozone

He definitely hasn't been getting support off the pitch, that is for sure.

LIVERPRES

Carroll has contributed to his own problems. There have been plenty of references, veiled and otherwise, to his training habits and lifestyle, by Liverpool and England management set-ups, and by those how know him. He is paid enormous wages and needs to at least look interested. His time is almost up.

LIVERPRES how can anybody support a player that seem's to be taking the P**S?

I have just read the GJ article, and whilst I agree it was possibly a daft thing to do, from a PR viewpoint, I do think he comes across very eloquently, with a more than reasonable argument for the players/club defending their player/team mate.

His point about Mcgrath is difficult to argue with, as is his one about some no mark rugby player. By the way how come the media didn't kick up a stink over this, or is it acceptable for a black man to "abuse" a fellow black man? which in effect he did......

Anyways, on to the rest of his article. I feel he gives a good insight in to the current feeling and attitude within the club, which comes across as a very positive one.

The quotes below give me a lot of faith in what I see on the pitch each week: I am particularly impressed with the second statement as it show's me all the players are behind what they see as a developing team which has a target in mind, and will strive to achieve it!

Training is sharper and he just put a smile on everybody's face.

'We are a tight unit. We defend together and do everything together. We are close on and off the pitch. Kenny Dalglish is good at that.

'He places an emphasis on it and makes sure he involves everybody. We look forward to going into training and you can see that on people's faces.'

More of interest to me was the actual reporters quote:

There is no attempt to antagonise Manchester United or indeed Evra. It ought to be stated here that — in this interview — he was merely asked some questions and he answered them candidly.

Like everybody else, he wants to get back to the football.

This little gem was located at the foot of the report so unless you read the full article you don't get the full picture. Unfortunately for GJ, LFC the only headline the media are interested in is the one covering the story.

As I said from a PR viewpoint, which is subjective to individuals, the timing isn't great. From a personal viewpoint I am impressed with his attitude, support of a team mate, and his obvious desire to do well for LFC.

He may not be every ones choice as a defender, personally I rate the boy. But how many of you can actually say/count how many times GJ has been run ragged by an opposition player during his time at LFC? for me not many.......TMac

The club's media/comms/PR department would have/should have issued a warning to all players NOT to comment on or mention the Evra affair. It would be accepted they wanted it to die a slow death and fade away along with the disastrous damage it has done to the club's image and reputation. So tell me why GJ spoke about it?
Did he get that advice? Was it issued? Did he just ignore it? Was he so slow on the uptake he was 'mugged' into saying anything about the Evra affair? Sheer crass stupidity on the player's behalf and nothing to be said in his defence - unless you're a fan who says "screw you and the rest of football, we say what we want!" Fair enough, but do you think John Henry. Fenway and Standard Chartered will think that?

Do you know what I like about open forum sites like this. You get a lot of sensible people who know about football, some may have played a bit as well (hint hint), joining forces to be positive and having a bit of banter.

I for one am really glad that our website is not one that attracts a load of posters who talk absolute rubbish about people out, players out, owners out, tealady out, erm, anyone whos left out.

I'm probably gonna stop comin on here for a bit, I can support my club. All the best to the eds, great job, don't know how you do it.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I know, but honestly I just can't empathise with fellow fans who want and expect instant success.

There's a statue of a fella outside our ground, to those who want instant success and believe that any club with just money will stand the test of time, do yourselves a favour, go and read a bit about him. Don't take our word for it, and sing about him, find out for yourself and then think about the situation right now.

Think.

See ya.

Sense at last!! - TMac

We haven't won the title for almost a quarter of a century. That may explain the impatience. Some of us want to see it happen again before we kick the bucket.

I really am hopeful of the strength that are academy and reserves seem to have. We all know of the talents of Suso, Sterling, Coady and Wisdom, them 4 get all the talk plus Morgan and obviosly Flanno and Robbo, and its rightly deserved, as they're all incredible talents and will hopefully all be gracing the first team in the not to distant future. However we also have Adjoran, who is looking immense of late, some of his passing to get people through, he wouldn't be out of place in a Barca team, the way he sees things before anyone else, he ran the mini derby the other day, Rodwell couldn't get near him and he outshone Barkley, and yes I know he wasn't playing CM, but them two should have stopped, or it was there job to stop him. We have Jack Dunn, Jordan Ibe, Pelosi, Lussey, Smith, Peterson to name a few and have Bueno signing when he's 18 in April and have just signed Texeira. This adding to Coates, Kelly, Henderson, Suarez (if he stays) Enrique and Lucas who are all still young. The future is looking good. Believe in the long term project and goal, I'm not naïve enough to believe they'll all make it, but I'm sure some of these are going to be massive players for us. Heads up and let's stop with the no name posts slagging off all things Liverpool.
JFT96
Smithy

Couldn't agree more. I really like Adorjan, to me he is a lot like Bergkamp in his pomp. I can see him in the number 10 shirt as link between the midfield and the forwards, picking out lil slide rule passes in behind the defenders.

Lets not heap too much pressure on these lads, lets not forget we lost to a very understrength spurs side! Yes you may say they cheated with the two players they brought in but even they were under aged players!

We might have lost to the spurs side , but we hammerd an everton side who had a number of 1st teamers in , again we were unlucky infront of goal , sterling hitting the post , again , we need a goal scoring coach

You say we lost to Spur's but do you recall us dominating the game? a bit like last Saturday with the 1st team!

08 Mar 2012 18:16:15
Why is everyone on here soo negetive!!
I think we have the best team in the premier league squad needs to grow but man for man i'd pick suarez over augero, gerrard over modric, agger and srktle over any
defenders in the world!
These player wear the badge with honour and they throw everything into thier game. Eventually it will pay off.
This is the greatest and be it longest underdog story i've experienced in football but I'm certain we will be top using the right old fashioned manor! Buy young and develope because only liverpool coaches know how they want to develope their liverpool players!

So would you have Downing over Bale, Henderson over Yaya Toure, Andy Carroll over Van Persie. I mean yes we have better players in some postitions compared to other teams but its the same for the other top clubs.

I believe that we're only 2 top players from a great team. Say Soldado and Ramirez:

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Ramirez-Gerrard-Lucas-Downing
Suarez-Soldado

Doni, Carragher, Kelly, Henderson, Adam, Bellamy, Carroll

I think we should go all out to get 2 top players for rw and cf. Sell Kuyt if needs be, and clear the wage bill by selling those on loan and the two signings above are not unrealistic. A team like that, with a bench like that, and an academy like we've got can definitely challenge for major honours

Red Ollie

Spot on assessment Red Ollie - we have 7 or 8 players who would be starting 11 in any prem team. Worth pointing out that we will only see the best of downing on the left when we provide a real threat on the right and teams are truly stretched. Also can't wait to see Stevie play more advanced when Lucas is back in the side. We are not that far away, sometimes only takes a piece or two to complete the jigsaw !
Derry Red

In fact yes i would have henderson, carrol and downing as i feel the first to mainly will be better than the others you compared them too!

Are you kidding me? Best team in the league? I highly doubt it. 10 points from our last ten league games. Wake up muppet!

Steve

Van Wolfswinkel has allready said if he leaves he wants champions league football next season so thats us out of the running

just read the glen johnson interview bout suarez he is spot on and a credit to are club he was sorely missed against arsenal who cares wat wages he is on he is a brilliant atacking wb and worth every penny to swop him with some one else would be a massive mistake and kelly is no were near his standered yet!

Ed,
Burak Yılmaz!
Do you anything about this lad? Any interested clubs? 26 year old striker plays for Turkish side Tranzanspor. scored 30 goals in 31 appearances in Turkish Super Liga. ye he is an unknown guy.. but we need to un earth these jems. With money being a big factor many are saying we can't get quality known Players, so why not try to get these kind of players. There lots of theses hidden jems across Europe another is VFB Stuttgart's Martin Harnik.

Wonder what Commoli is doing ... so far Henderson, Carroll young jems brought in.. but what a Joke!! Is this paying money for the quality!

Is he a pole vaulter for russia in the olympics

Sounds like a stowaway on the back of a truck

A quick question for the eds pls . How was rafa and kennys relationship ? I'm asking because someone last night told me a interesting story about Liverpool , rafa , kenny and gullet and hicks . Thanks {Ed002's Note - Not the old Kenny and Ruud Gullit pictures story again? You need a gossip site - try nationalenquirer.com.}

08 Mar 2012 17:25:08
wow

i have to say..................reading everyones posts today
i agree to most of them..and kinda disagree

but it does seem a little bit depressing times at the moment, despite winning the league cup the other week

lfc are BACK to hitting the posts, not scoring etc etc....and that has been the MOST CONSISTENT THING THIS SEASON....agree eds?

so nothing can be done now...................i think unless liverpool fight for top players and sort out this weak finishing..then IL JOIN EVERYONE in trying to find a new manager who will choose better players.

08 Mar 2012 17:21:41
eds what is your view on the Carroll front keep or sell and when is sterling going to be introduced into the first team {Ed001's Note - I would keep him myself, it takes time to adjust. Sterling is simply not physically ready for much action yet, he will no doubt have a growth spurt soon and it could hurt him badly for the future if he is played regularly now.}

Agree eds the last 5 games carrol is starting to play some nice football the reasons why we bought him still a lot of work to go but the signs are there

What carroll needs is more people to get behind him and for kenny and the coaches to give him extra shooting and dribbling practice

I suggest that the fan's wearing the rose tinted glass'es concerning Andy Carroll go to Specsaver's! as there not rose tinted glass'es their wearing their blood red one's as they clearly cannot see that he is not LFC standard! He's improved over the last 5 game's? He's been told to on and off the field otherwise he'll be shown the door!

It comes down to desire mate! If Carroll really wanted to improve his skills, he wouldnt need the coaches and kenny telling him to do more. He would be out in the park with a ball at his feet instead of standing at the pub with a beer in his hand.

Steve

Kenny Dalglish is the grumpiest man in Football, I think its embarrasing for our club the way he goes on in interviews, He's always so defensive, I think he has become bitter at everyone at this stage, He is a legend at anfield but he needs to go in the summer, Bring back benitez {Ed002's Note - I thought I was the grumpiest man in football? tinyurl.com/7fbgecd}

Its because the 'london mafia' press never have anything good to say about liverpool, and Kenny is well aware of this. On the other hand, their 'golden boy' 'Arry cannot put a foot wrong. Of course that will soon change if he takes the Engand job, the knives will soon be out for him...

What a tr*user KK is one of the funniest managers in the prem dry wit great put downs for biast sly tv

TC YNWA

2nd grumpiest man to the media? Alex Ferguson. I'm not complaining, the press can go stuff themselves, Kenny knows how to handle them better than anyone

Red Ollie

Dalglish's problem is he has a very dry sarcastic and clever wit and an awful lot of media (and fans) aren't clever enough to quickly work out what he said and realise how funny it is. RED LENIN

You're exactly right...KK does not come across well in interviews. It's like he has a chip on his shoulder and it really doesn't do the LFC image any good.

If KK and/or fans really subscribe to this alleged conspiracy theory that the media is against LFC, KK's curt, arrogant interviews just plays into their hands doesn't it?

Of course, KK is a legend but, that doesn't mean he's perfect and in this go around, I don't think he has targeted the right players, used the right tactics or carried himself well in interviews.

What management puts out there (at least for public consumption) is mind boggling: the lack of goals is a media fabrication/obsession, we don't need to sign any new players because the current squad is good enough, etc.

How can they possibly rationalize the results...we have a win percentage of 37%....let me phrase it another way...in almost 65% of our games, we fail to win!

The more I hear from management, the more it sounds like an attempt to justify their ridiculous purchases over the summer. Adam, Carroll and Henderson...total waste of valuable and limited resources.

08 Mar 2012 16:25:37
Why do so many fans write 'WE' paid this amount to buy a player. 'WE' didn't pay anything. the OWNERS did. The amount that is paid is not our concern. The transfer fee is agreed between the two clubs and has nothing to do with the player himself. In some cases too much is paid, as was in the case of both Torres and Carroll,and the players are expected by the fans to live up to that fee. As of yet we don't know if the fees paid for Henderson,Downing,Adam,etc are value for (the owners) money so let's get behind them and give the good old-fashioned Liverpool support that they need. The only way that Liverpool can get a great side in one season is buy all the Barcelona first-team players although I think that some fans would complain when Messi wasn't scoring five goals in every game. I've been patient for a long time and I'm going to have to be patient for a while longer but it will be worth it when we are cheering the likes of Sterling and Suso and a few others in the first team.
Dutchmal

It is our money we buy the tops & tickets memberships + a new warrior kit comeing out does all that money not go to the club so as fsg said our in put is vitel for them and the club to move forward {Ed002's Note - No the money goes to Warrior - that is why they will be sponsoring the club. The club, if they sell the kit, will get the merchant's cut. If you buy it elsewhere the club will get nothing.}

Well said mate

Mickleburg

To the 1st poster - I was expecting such a reply - by your way of thinking we also own Morrison's, Tesco, Shell,Pathe,etc, etc, etc. We are in fact just customers seeking a certain product. If we don't like it we take our custom elsewhere. We have no say in how things are run.
Dutchmal

Warrior would not be there if it was not for the fans and the potential sales, thats why they gave such a high amount of money to take over from addidas, so it is the fans money in some way, that we spend on players.

Ed002, what I think the poster is getting at is that we as the paying public buy warriors products, therefore we actually supply the company with their money for them to sponser the club.

steve {Ed002's Note - I answered the question "does all that money not go to the club" and the answer is no, it goes to Warrior which is why they sponsor the club. If no one was to buy the shirts at all, Liverpool would still get the sponsorship money.}

Ed002, your still missing the point I was trying to make, if people didnt buy the products that warrior supply, warrior wouldnt have the money in the first place to sponsor this club or any any other. Essesntially the general public purchasing warrior products generates the money for that company to allow them the opportunity to sponsor clubs in the first place. No one buys warrior products, the company makes no money therefore they cant sponsor anyone is the point I was trying to make. In a roundabout way we are the ones supplying warrior with the money to sponsor the club in the first place. I hope you get what Im trying to say.

Steve {Ed002's Note - You are taking a very odd view of this. Warrior are sponsoring Liverpool so they can make money for Warrior. That is it, nothing else. If no one buys Warrior's products, you are right that they will not be able to sponsor Liverpool and Warrior will go out of business. So if everyone in the country went out and bought a Warrior branded Liverpool shirt then Warrior would do very well - but it would not generate any additional income for the club. The money from shirt sales is split between the manufacturer, any middle men and the retailer. Liverpool get paid by Adidas annually for this and as of next season they get the money from Warrior. If the sell in the club shop then they get the merchants cut in addition to the sponsorship money. If you buy your shirt from a high street store you are helping Warrior but not the club. If you buy your shirt as some cheap package off the internet then it could be a fake and that helps no one. If you want to help the club, get your ass down to the club shop and buy your shirt there. I have long name (Henerson or such like) emblazoned on the back as no doubt there will be some profit in the letters for the club. Whilst you are there buy club produced DVDs as these are traditionally the most profit can be made.}

Im looking forward to the changes in the summer, Im just writing this season off as a failure, This is what i would like to happen... Kenny replaced with Rafa, Sell Suarez to psg for 20-25m, id also get rid of kennys signings, carroll, adam, downing and henderson have made us the laughing stock of european football, carragher needs to retire, he's cost us about 10 points this season, Id get rid of comolli and just let rafa bring in the new signings, id also get rid of aqualani, spearing and johnson, paul ynwa, in rafa we trust.

Rafa get off the site and look for a job

You're obviously late with your medication

Sell suarez for 25 mil when we bought him for around 20 mil. yeah great bit of buisiness that. if we were to sell mhim and that is an IF we shud be lookin between 40- 50 mil no less!...redman matt

Paul

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but yours lacks intelkligence to the highest degree.

You should also remove the "ynwa" from your sign off - it doesn't belong there.

I agree with him with one exception forget Rafa, get MO'N

Also I see a slight problem - we don't have the money to do as the above poster suggested

How has anyone disagreed with the first post, this season has been a failure, we aimed for 4th and got 7th, dispute that. Kennys signings have been poor and carra is past it, all facts which can be backed up, please take the 3d kenny glasses of, reality check.

ED1 bearing in mind the transfers we have made under Kenny and the players we choose not to go after Honda,Mata and Turan. Given the handling of the Suarez episode and ongoing fallout. Are you optimistic about the current direction of the club and do you think Kenny is capable of the task at hand? {Ed001's Note - yes and yes. Just because it is not the players I would have chosen, does not mean it is not going in the right way. After all I would not have moved for John Barnes or Peter Beardsley, Aldridge, much as I loved him, is another I would never have bought. In fact I can only remember the club ever buying one player I wanted in my life - Xabi Alonso. I feel we are improving, I can see the thinking behind the signings, it is now just a case of stability to give the coaching staff time to get it all together. After all it took Barca about ten years to get up to where they are, it just doesn't happen over night in real life, despite what some people seem to think.}

Well done, ed001. YNWA

You've really surprised me Ed001 with your comment's over Barne's Beardsley and Aldridge! when we bought Beardsley he went for the british club record and was very sort after! Barne's was another one i think even more sort after than Beardsley! both had showed what they were capable of well before they joined! and Aldo was banging them in left right and centre for Oxford i think he broke record's for goal's scored with them! so i'm a bit baffled by your comment's concerning those 3 legend's! Beardsley is still a legend to me as he was shown the door! but what a player! {Ed001's Note - I loved them when they were with us, but before they joined they were not players I would have looked at. Admittedly I was only a kid back then, but they just weren't the kind of players we used to buy. We always used to buy younger players and mould them in the reserves for a year or two before they got near the first team.}

I'll give ya that! that you were young but prior to buying those 3 apart from Paul Walsh who were these youngster's you refer to? as the only signing that Kenny signed of any significance was McMahon! he did'nt really sign anyone till Rushie was sold!

Hi. I have a couple of questions for the fans with some actual knowledge of the game.
1) I watched the penalty shoot-
out between Apoel and Lyon. One of the Lyon penalties hit the post,came back out, and rebounded off the goalkeeper into the net. If this had happened in normal time I'm sure that it would have been classified as an own goal by the goalkeeper. Should it have been allowed as once it hit the post it was surely dead?
2) Does the 'dodgy own goals' panel still exist and has there been any decision made over the Gerrard/Dunk goal against Brighton?
Hopefully I will receive some intelligent replies.
Dutchmal

1, i think it is a goal, if it hits the cross bar and spins back in to the goals in still counted, so if it does the same but rebounding off the keeped back in then should be allowed.

2, if the ball is on path to the goal and collides a defender and goes in should go to the attackers name, not the defender.

thats my 2 cents worth. wats ur opinion?
Dutchmal?

aussiepool tristan

The penalty is still "live" untill the ball is dead. Brilliant vid on youtube last year (italian league cup?)where a guy hit the bar with the ball and spun 30 yards in the air. the keeper had ran out to celebrate on the edge of the area, turned around and saw the ball spin back into the net,
classic.

jamesmack8

I watched the game last night and was astonished the goal was allowed to stand so I searched UEFA rule book where there was no mention of whether it should be a goal or not. I even e mailed UEFA to find out but I am still waiting for a reply. {Ed002's Note - It is a goal, there is no question.}

Thanks for those replies. It's nice to receive some that are filled with abuse. (Having said that they're bound to come now).
Dutchmal

1. I'm very surprised that penalty was given, if it happened in normal time it would definitely be an og not the striker's goal. If the striker is allowed no rebound (which he isn't) then how can a goal that's effectively rebounded off the keeper stand?

2. There is a dubious goals committee (I think it still exists) but I don't know if they looked at Gerrard's. You'd have to be able to tell if Gerrard's shot was going in which is almost impossible to do since the ball travelled such a short distance

Red Ollie {Ed002's Note - The ball is still in play. It is not really any different to a goalkeeper getting his hand to the ball but the penalty still being scored.}

Eds,
Glen Johnson just stated on Twitter:
"Just finished the photo shoot for the new kit !! #Decent"

I don't think they would choose him to shoot for the new kit when the club is planning to offload him in the summer?!
What do you think about that?

He didnt say LFC kit tho!

England KIT i would imagine {Ed002's Note - And you would be correct.}

why is johnson bringing up the past and stirring? with a club of your history and prestige it must sometimes embarrass some of the true fans that your club has. Not the fans that defend your club just because its manchester united, but the fans who dont want anymore negative publicity on the club.

Calling Paul Mcgrath racist is a bit much.

This whole situation has got well out of hand and the best thing is to leave sleeping dogs lie.
It aint covering either club in glory.

lets get back to the football!!

Eds im just wondering why are the roll over hot dogs and burgers so expensive in Anfield GOD THE NERVE. {Ed002's Note - They use meat from "specialist" sources and that makes them expensive. In layman's terms it is very expensive to rent the high pressure hoses to blow the last remaining morsels of "meat" from the carcases of the "animals" of indeterminate origin for them to make your fayre of choice.}

Ahh so what your saying is that the meat which is distrbuted to young red like myself is meat which is of unknown orgin which is brought at a low price and sold at a higher value to make a profit, and make you reds like me cry in sorrow :(. however when you gotta eat you gotta eat

Misfiring strikers for the last i dont know how long.........Give Eccleston a run out from now till the end of the season, what harm can it do........he can only do as little as everyone else up top....Im sure Fergie would have given him a go by now, in fact most of our kids would have had more of a look in by now i reckon,.......and people can say...well their not ready, dont be blinded by the reserve games on tv, the best players are that tightly marked in reserve football theyve no chance some weeks.........

Eccleston would refuse and claim the Illuminati were behind this move!

To the unnamed OP - maybe, just maybe, Kenny and the coaching staff have a better idea of how ready these kids are than you do? And maybe you're not best placed to decide on their development? Just a thought...

Also, given the vitriol directed at the players after we fail to win these days, I'd hate to see a promising kid like Suso or Sterling have a disappointing debut right now and be targeted by the no-brain brigade

Red Ollie

I agree Eccleston a run out, he deserves a chance to see if his pace and Suarez craft can form a partnership.

Its worth a try because goals aren't exactly flying in!

Hi Ed, Is there any news on the development of Anfield or the development of stanley park? Also, will the development of Stanley park deplete our transfer budget like it has Arsenals transfer budget with development of the Emirates?
And if it is detrimental to our transfer pot, do you think this added pressure to qualify for the champions league and bring in more revenue could see Kenny being replaced as manager if he fails to secure fourth place?

{Ed002's Note - There is no news but if a new buidl were to happen there would be a need for significant loans to be taken out against the business and those loans will need to be serviced. Playing in the Champions League will generate perhaps £35M or so on average a year - about 20% of the total turnover of the club. It is not a difficult thing to figure out. If the money is not there you either (a) don't spend it, or (b) borrow it.}

Ed:002 Champions Legaue Revenue is typically 20 million if you make the knockout stages. 35 million is if you win it.

{Ed002's Note - I rather think you have forgotten the additional market pool share. A few examples from last season:
Manchester United - 53.197m euros (27m performance and 25.9m market pool)
Barcelona - 51.025m euros
Chelsea - 44.523m euros
Schalke - 39.750m euros
Tottenham Hotspur 31.133m euros

So regardless of the exact amount, and ignoring additional match day reveue of, say, £2M per home game, the figures involved are significant and demonstrate the importance of qualifying.}

how on earth do we constantly miss out on great players, now it is said that podolski to arsenal for 11m, what a bargain why are we not intrested in him pure quality. It sis becoming a joke now, i mean we are linked with average british players with inflated fees whilst others are linked with proven quality with relatively small fees in todays market. Matt phillips( 10m) luk de jong( 15m) 2 players who are not proven and to me will be a massive gamble of 25m which in my opinion kenny has already wasted carroll( 35m) downing (20m) henderson (20m) when in reality other summer targets were viable and now targets which are a joke are being looked at. i surely hope the owners do not saction moves for these players as to me they would not strengthen our great club

instead lets fight arsenal for Podolski (11M) proven quality finisher, plays as striker or wide left.

Robben(10M) well just watch him play ok he has injuries but so do our current players just look no further than Agger, Gerrard, Johnson, but all said and done he would be a world class signing

As for a natural finisher there aint many of them about nowdays in the shape of a Linaker, Fowler so we would be hard pressed to find one, but lets go out on a limb a say Suarez wants to leave then lets go try get Soldado, Higuain, 2 players there who can finish, and more inportantly they are both clinical and that is wat is needed

We constantly miss out on great players? where ever have you getting tht crap from.
kenny bought the players he thought could do the job not the players you think can do a job.
the players have barely had a season together be patient and give them time.
luuk de jong looks a quality player but he havent signed any1 yet so lets get behind the club till end of season and see which players actaully want to join us and who we sign!
mrbrown

Podolski has been a somewhat erratic striker (although he tends to play on the left wing and cut in) since he left die Bayern. As for Robben - his mood swings and constant concerns about his own fitness and illnesses/injuries have frustrated the Bayern hierarchy for the past two seasons. Neither player is likely to be bought by LFC as they don't fit in with the buy British brief and the attention to the Fair Play Regulations that will soon come into force.
I suspect your original comments were as a frustration with buying Carroll (overpriced at £35m) but he has potential: the potential is there according to most of the pundits who don't seem to have given up on him. I would like to see us recruit a midfielder (Honda?) and another striker (Cavani) without going mad and dragging in every new flavour of the month. {Ed002's Note - Could you explain how buying Cavani and Honda is OK but buying Robben does not "fit in with the buy British brief and the attention to the Fair Play Regulations"?}

You relate the two although they are separate comments. There is a nod to the FPRegs/players' styles/moods but my latter comment was more about who I would prefer to see if we did buy.

How about he wanted to go to arsenal, or don't you think that matters?

Chris in Tamworth

I think we are signing players who the club have targeted, and doing a good job in that respect. I am a little frustrated by our seeming lack of desire to buy proven quality, as with the exception of Downing and Bellamy our signings under Kenny have been gambles on quality that isn't well known. I'd love to see us go all out for Soldado this summer, but I think we're more likely to look for young, unproven talent, which we already seem to have in Carroll

Lads lifelong fan here... But can someone please tell Glen Johnson to stick to playing football and stop making idiotic comments. I love our club but why is Glen Johnson firstly, bringing back up all the BS about the Saurez affair after its all died down and to be honest it didnt paint our club in its best light ever and secondly, to be calling Paul McGrath a racist aswell as saying he doesnt know who McGrath is or what he's about is pure stupidity! God almighty mate Paul McGrath was a fantastic footballer and legend on the pitch.
This fella needs to get with the Liverpool way and do his talking with his feet instead off putting them both in his mouth !

I don't agree with your stupid comments but like you I'm not going to leave a name.

So you don't agree with the original post no? Your all for stupid comments then? Good lad so !

Eds,
Just a quick question:
Why is Arsenal already working, completing transfers for the summer (Podolski) and it seems we will wait again till the deadline day?
Arsenal set all in place for Podolski and he only has to sign the contract come the opening day of the window.
So they will have a quiet summer and can work with their new players.
Why aren't we doing this? for example for Luuk de Jong or so?
{Ed002's Note - I won't bother answering thais as in March you have already come to the conclusion "and it seems we will wait again till the deadline day?"}

Liverpool don't talk about targets until they have signed.

Ed 01 I know this is a bit silly and you probably wont have time, but go back to JAN 2011 if you called the shots who would be playing in RED today?

{Ed001's Note - hard to say, going back then I would have got Honda, not Carroll and tried to bring in a left back then. I wanted Javi Martinez or Ever Banega back then and Alexis Sanchez as my fantasy signings.}

I would have had exactly the same Ed, but swapped Sanchez for Soldado.

Ash

Ever Banega is fantastic...is he available though?

After reading a previous post im 100% certain Kenny had the chance to sign mata he was offered to liverpool for the same price chelsea paid and he was willing to come his agent has already said this . Kenny choose Downing even though commoli wanted to push for mata . Add Downing to all of kennys other signings what have we got a mid table team.

And maybe mata chose chelsea not liverpool, they probably offered more cash and a champions league spot.

he's about the best thing they have going at the moment so it is a shame he went there, he's a top talent. just wears the wrong shirt.

aussiepool tristan {Ed002's Note - Mata signing for Chelsea was more than a month after Dalglish signed Mata - all this discussion is meaningless. People just seem to be trying to build a case against Dalglish and the players he bought. Why not wait for another draw or loss and attack him again then.}

I think dalglish is the only man for the job atm, we really need someone honest and completely intrusted to our success, who else than probably our best player.

he is building a great foundation, id rather earn our success not buy it. honesty and hard work will prevail.
aussiepool tristan

I wouldn't trust anyone else but Kenny with the rebuilding of the team.Liverpool is everything to him. This is just the first of 3 seasons and only the frame of an unfinished picture. I think that Liverpool are heading in the right direction. YNWA

Speaking to other liverpool fans b4 games it looks we are divided on shelvy.i personally dnt think he is good enough for liverpool and been realistic he wouldnt get his place if strootman is possibly a future signing and rimarez.
with the likes of gerrard, spearing,adam and hendo already above him, would it not make sense if we are interested in phillips and blackpool are interested in shelvy that we propose a swap there for we get the player we are interested in at no cost.
i have had this discussion with fellow reds in the sandown b4 games,but would like to here other fellow reds opion on this if poss

I think it's unlikely it'd be a straight swap but it'd definitely butter up any deal. i see the sense in it yeah

There is no way anyone could have an opinion on Shelvey he has played f-all games and when he played he invariably creates so keep you bs to yourself

He doesnt play for liverpool u mean the option is still there to loan him back to blackpool for the rest of the season.and if he carries on from where he left of there then there will be a poss deal there

Personally I hope Gerrard gets fit soon, so Shelvey can go back out on loan. Players at his age need to be playing games, and he was getting that at Blackpool and playing well. Come pre-season, we'd see where he is at, and either keep him or loan him again.

I don't think he will be a world beater, but he could become a good player for us.

Cheers for your opinion redsg,a was thinking with us linked to other cm players and him been so far down the order if we could get some kind of deal for phillips and have the first refusel option if he does become a top player in a cpl of yrs time

"The Irritation of King Kenny"

I asked yesterday and today it seems ever more relevant - just who is handling the PR and media relations at Liverpool Football Club? The interview with Glen Johnson this morning in the Daily Mail was lucid and informative but a PR disaster. As the club tries to recover from the backwash of the Evra affair it was naive to allow anyone to refer back to it in the media.

Now you may take the view that GJ is entitled to his views; his views are personal and the club wasn't being directly interviewd but he is their employee. Just consider your position if you end up in print causing your company embrassment. There's more to this than meets the eye and a lot more to be considered in terms of the club's stewardship.

Although fairly late into the field, most football clubs have in-house PR and communications people to handle these issues. They always tell us 'outside consultants' they know best. Well do they? It's their role to ensure the club employees toe the PR line, sing from the same hymn sheet and keep out of media trouble. It usually ends up as a rescue job! It is also their job to ensure the messages from the club itself are accurate and informative and keep us all informed. I blame the media people at LFC for this current debacle. They failed miserably in preventing a row between two players from entering the nuclear age. They issued inconsistent and misleading statements and failed to ensure that the club's employees (KK included) said little as it boiled over. They stand accused of a similar failure today with GJ.

I have advised a number of professional sportsmen in football, tennis and motor-racing over the years and I always knew when to tell them "not to open your mouth about this to anyone." Why was GJ not told to do the same about anything related to the Suarez affair? Have the players ignored the PR people, shunned the communications advice or ignored the three-line whip from the Fenway Group?

The Evra affair is back in the open: now our main sponsor is having to face another spotlight about race. Do you think they will appreciate that? Now the general public are once gain reminded that LFC 'might be a racist club' and Twitter is alive with talk of LFC and racism rows once more. You tell your clients in PR not to use the phrase "no comment" as it raises more questions and puts doubts in people's minds. In the case of GJ he should have been told to deflect the issue of Evra and Suarez by saying he was not going down that road or didn't want to drag up that issue again.

For those reading this who think he is entitled to his free speech, consider this: Suarez will come under the spotlight once more and has been booed roundly recently. That is unlikely to make him want to remain here if a huge offer comes his way from PSG. How do you think John Henry and Fenway are likely to react to this having already read the riot act to the management in private? What is ironic is that LFC has always prided itself on saying only what needs to be said when it needs to be said. GJ has deviated off course and there will be repercussions.

For those who think is a storm in a teacup, remember that the issue of racism is a pot-boiler and an easy bubbler for those in the media. It's an easy thing these days to accuse anyone of a racist slur or comment. With the Evra issue being dragged up again it puts the spotlight back on our club. If ever there was a time to rap a player over the knuckles and tell him to shut his mouth, it is now and it is to GJ and the rest of the squad.

SP

It seems that some LFC players are unable to think beyond their own agenda.
Recall Nathan Eccleston making some outlandish statements recently.
I trust the club will deal with GJ in the appropriate manner, maybe this is his attempt "to fashion" a move away from Anfield, and he felt it relevant to distance himself from what has happened!.
Players represent the club, are employed by it, and should as a consequence be held responsible for their actions and statements, and be dealt with in terms of labour relations and codes of conduct.
Think GJ might just have 'put himself' in the shop window by doing this.

This GJ interview has made me wonder if we even have a PR department. Utter stupidity to allow the issue to be brought up again

Red Ollie

My original comments were directed at the club itself - the communications department - they have royally blow the coporate leg off with this issue. Check Yahoo news - front page scroller is about this. I wouldn't call for any sackings in the current climate, but there have to be serious questions asked about the competence of these people. I suspect John Henry and Fenway will ask the same!

Why should they deal with him? He is only saying what everyone thinks. Evra is a bad egg. so I say fair play to ye Glen

Glen is entitled to express his opinion, and I think it is a decent interview. The headline is misleading, not Glen's fault but it will put us back in the limelight for all the wrong reasons.

There is a lot more to the interview than the Suarez-Evra affair, which people will forget about because of the headline.

RedSG {Ed002's Note - I rather doubt the board and owners will agree with your assertion that it is "not Glen's fault".}

08 Mar 2012 11:09:44
What is Glen thinking he should have just kept his mouth shut. We all want to move on from this and players should know we need to move on and not bring up things that are starting to settle down. Liverpoool should ban any players from talking to the media about the suarez case. Im not impressed by what i read im sure he should be thinking about our next game and not somthing that has been dealt with.

Red raj

He was sticking up for his team mate and friend! and it show's Luis is no racist!

08 Mar 2012 10:42:56
For the idiots supporting Glen Johnson shooting his mouth off have you thought about the wider implications of fueling this fire?

The issue should have been allowed to die down.

* By keeping this in the headlines we are more likely to see Suarez shipped out this season
* Potential sponsorship deals will be severly limited and this could thus delay any movement on Stadium.

Think before you speak, someone at the club needs to take control of the players however it may be some months too late!

Potential sponsors will be put off by a black/mixed race player supporting another mixed race player/team mate in regards to a race case and subsequent calculated hand shake? really don't see where your coming from pal. surely they would be more concerned if he refused to support or play in the same team as suarez. he obviously has unwavering belief in suarez and has chosen to back him publicly while being questioned.
what was glen supposed to do, refuse or avoid the obviously confrontational question that he was asked that led to his honest opinion or just say what he felt. he got called an 'uncle tom' by a rugby player in regards to his relationship and the way he was treated by the club in this whole situation and therefore has a right to view his opinion in public back. the whole interview was just a very honest and open opinion and in no way should glen be discredited for taking his stance as to whom he believes is a liar and who he believes is a friend.
as for the whole situation being 'put to bed' as the saying goes, it might be easy for lfc fans to put in the past but for the fans that are religiously now boo-ing luis week in week out, maybe glen felt they needed to hear his view on the whole situation.
'you'll never walk alone' between 2 team mates comes to mind for me.
the interview was a great read for myself and for those that have little good to say about glen johnson should read it. he sounds like someone who has truly embraced what this club is really about.

Such a naive comment about embracing the club by GJ. Read Steve Parker's piece "The Irritation of King Kenny" and see what damage it might do to the club!

Continued from above, accidentally finished my post early.

'he sounds like someone who has truly embraced what this club really is about.' someone that has grown up alot, understands the club's history, the fans desire for success and is enjoying being part of a great club.
i would rather have our only black 1st team player come out and support suarez than have him avoid the issue publicly like there's something to hide.

I've read steve parker's post. and i wonder how he would have 'advised' glen johnson as a client when he's had personal defamation from numerous other sporting names and ex pro's during this whole case while only being an innocent bystander/team mate/friend. how would he have 'advised' glen johnson on dealing with comments that called him an 'uncle tom' and basically little more than a pawn being used by the club in this whole race case. would steve parker have advised him to brush it under the comment? to say no comment like there's something to hide? or answer the questions openly? given the accusations aimed at him i feel glen had a right to answer questions.

What was he supposed to do? Say "no comment" to every question about Suarez/Evra? The media would have used that too; Oh look, Glen Johnson knows now how wrong it was to support his guilty team mate that he won't even talk about it! Or, "Liverpool in denial as only black player in the squad refuses to discuss race row!" Shock horror. I know Liverpool could've handled this whole thing much, much better. But the media can twist anything they like to make it sound worse, so really the best thing Johnson could've done was to answer honestly and calmly, as he did. Its actually the only positive article about the incident that I've read! He said a few things that needed to be said, but did so in a non-aggressive way and sounded genuine throughout. I don't see how management could have a problem with that. As for bringing up the issue again; are some people really that naive? Go and read anything written about a Liverpool match since the suspension. The mention of Suarez is always immediately followed up by "Banned for 8 matches for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra". It's like it's part of his name these days!! This is a story which is not being let go of because it's still selling. A player giving his rather insightful views on the matter will not prolong that. We need to stop being afraid of offending someone at every turn. Johnson has every right to give his opinion. He, more than anyone else in our squad, will know exactly the negative impact that racism has. Saying as much in the interview when talking about his childhood certainly gives him that credibility. I think his backing of Luis so openly is a good thing. Maybe people will finally start looking further than what is printed in the paper for them each morning...

Ryan 'O

I would have advised him BEFORE any interview not to become embroiled in the Evra issue. Regardless of his past experiences, you would say to GJ that he should avoid any discussion about the issue. With my clients, if there is to be an interview with the media, I sit in on the interviews and a PR consultant or press/media man from the club could/would/should have done so considering the current climate. I have never advised anyone to say "no comment" (check my original words) but in this case, GJ should have been advised well before any interview to avoid commenting on the Evra affair.

Calm downa dna ask yourself what John Henry and the Fenway Group, plus the Standard Chartered people in Asia will say when they see this issue raised again. Forget GJ and think longer term in terms of the club!

This was never really about racism. 2 men who dont like each other. i'd say there both as bad as each other, but suarez seems like the victim. eveythings not black and white (not referin to people) with racism.

Grow some balls,are all supposed to agree with the fa when they are in the wrong?? {Ed002's Note - What has the FA got to do with it? Any argument based on ignorance is never going to stand up.}

The Evra affair has been posionous to LFC and the club's reputation. So why would one of the club's high profile players stir the pot by commenting on it? GJ is foolish in the eyes of anyone who understands the game is more than and the money comes from business to support it. He should have been warned NOT to say a word on the Evra affair. He has created a storm that was in danger of dying down! How the hell anyone can defend his comments is beyond me and I suspect, beyond John Henry and Fenway, our main sponsors and a host of other interested LFC groups. It is not a case of agreeing with the FA - it is simply a matter of letting it lie and fade away, not making crass comments and playing a reverse race card when challenged by someone else. I stick to my original question - WHO, WHO! is in loose control of the media relations at LFC?

This is to everyone who seems to think that GJ's interview is tarnishing the club and are criticising him for it. this interview was conducted with and printed by a national newspaper. are we therefore thinking that the club have not 'vetted' this whole interview before print? i honestly don't think the club have been that naive after everything to allow player interviews with the dagger/gutter press without having club representatives going over it with a fine brush. the only people who have seemingly kicked up a stink about the interview is a percentage of lfc fans. has glen johnson had his wrist slapped today by the club? didn't seem so today when all he really tweeted about was being excited by the photograph session he had done with other senior players trying out the new warrior sponsored kit! funny that aye, one of the players supposedly being shipped out in the summer (especially now after his supposed 'stupid' interview comments!) is in the initial high profile players selected for early new kit photographs. seems like the clubs stance doesn't seem the same as some overly opinionated fans. and you can bet your last pound suarez (who is supposedly being shipped out too) was in the photoshoot!! {Ed002's Note - Is Suarez playing for England now then?}

You seem to have no knowledge of the way clubs work. The player could easily have done the interview without the club knowing or giving permission.

ED01?

I know Luuk De Jong is scoring for fun in the Dutch league but is he good enuf in your opinion could he replicate that kind of form for us? {Ed001's Note - yes.}

To expand on your positive reply what kind of forward is he and why are you so confident he can make it?

Also you are the Ed who liked Honda? And we coulda got him for £10m! What other players do you like and if Kenny retires are you going for the job? You may be the man LFC needs.
{Ed001's Note - he is strong and quick, just looks right for the Prem. Yes I am the one that wanted Honda and I would like Gaston Ramires and Matty Phillips, along with De Jong in the summer. Javi Martinez and M'Vila would be nice too!}

Hey Ed01 - what do you think Ramires value would be if Bologna were prepared to sell, his contract is fairly lengthy - so I guess in the region of 15-17m, your view?

Cheers, Suffolk'n Red... {Ed002's Note - He was available in January for about 15M euro and his agent was looking for a signing on fee for the player as well.}

ED2

I would not want the Special One to ever manage us, but I do recall he said once that LFC were the one club he would never manage but couldnt say why. So Ed what were his reasons? {Ed002's Note - We are not going in to his reasons but I promise that I won't get upset if Mourinho were to manage Liverpool.}

When Chelsea came into money they had no history or any sort of rivalry apart from with Fulham. Chelsea played us a lot at the time and Mourinho tried to create a rivalry between the clubs (shushing gesture etc) comparable to Arsenal/United or Liverpool/United

Wasn't it because we chose Rafa over him in 2004?

Johnson also claimed that the club had driven the support of Suarez rather than the players. He said that 'It seemed to come across that we were making a point. We weren’t. It was the club’s idea. But obviously we all agreed. We didn’t really think about how people would react.' So he is saying the club made them wear the shirts is this true ? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea if it is true of not.}

Well, I doubt the players were clever enough to design t-shirts. Smells of a club initiative to me. I very bad one at that, irrespective of who was in the wrong.

Does Glen Johnson's inteview mean he is calling Luis a liar for what he said about the hand shake incident ed? I think this has to be an old interview made before Luis's apology because this just makes it even worse. Why don't the club have a rule to stop any of the players talking to reporters about the incidents because this will backfire and both Glen and Luis could be forced out of the reds in the summer? Ed? Discuss. {Ed002's Note - Just accept whatever has been said as inappropriate and dumb, and possibly taken out of context. You make a good point whether or not the club have given instructions to the staff that this whole matter should not be open to discussion with the press - I would be surprised if every member of staff had not been told to avoid any such subjects.}

Everyone is entitled to his own view, that includes GJ, Suarez and even tat liar!

Its yr 2012, we hv no need to care what other people think, we just to do or say things we think is right

San {Ed002's Note - You are forgetting that they are all empoyees of football clubs and they need to understand that what they say can impact upon the club and their sponsors.}

Why is it dumb.Johnson is only stating the truth,liverppol could have done more to back suarez but the let scum utd walk all over him. {Ed002's Note - It is not even worth the effort of explaining the implications of raising this issue again. I imagine that the board and owners are of a similar mind as they would be hoping this matter would have become low key by now.}

Forget implications"well done johnson"that's what team mates do"As the FA said "Suarez is not a racist"then why the 8 game ban???if you want to accept the fa decision then more fool you.

{Ed002's Note - The ban was given for something he said and and it is nothing to do with being a racist. I don't understand why a number of the supporters seem to be supportive of this whole issue being kept so high profile.}

See Arsenal have signed Van Persie's replacement.

Wonder where RVP will go now......?

Hi EDS,
was wondering should league results go against us on saturday should we not give the likes of coates, sterling,coady,shelvey a run in the team. I am aware that the nextgen is still there but coates playing along side martin skrtel for a few games might not be a bad thing. what do you think {Ed002's Note - No.}

Why the No for Coates playing with Skrtel Ed002? Is it with you being a Chelsea fan that you'd rather Carragher start as he's more prone to mess up? {Ed002's Note - That was not the no. The no was giving a run to Coates, Sterling, Coady and Shelvey. It is not going to happen - Liverpool are not going to play out the remainder of the season with these kids every week.}

08 Mar 2012 09:09:07
Hi Ed,

What do you make of G.Johnson's statement?

Thanks

Jatt YNWA {Ed002's Note - For me it was a particularly dumb thing to do, for some of the media it is something they will use. I imagine that the board and the owners will be less than impressed, again. And from the posts we are deleting this morning it seems a lot of the fans can't let go - and the local branch of the BNP are out in support.}

Well, I feel the same. He should't have done that. Media will once again try their best in making stories that can haunt the club. Awful thing from Johnson. He bought the issue back to life. :(

Hi Ed002,

Thanks for the reply. I am regretfully iclined to agree with you, I cannot see anyway that this can bring anything other than more contempt from the media. Do you think G.Johson's statement might just have pushed Suarez out of the partially opened door? Coupled with the recent issue around Reina(Although on a personal level not sure how that was percieved as racist).

What do you make of G.Johnson's future at the club? Combining his public support of Suarez, and the fact he is the only black player currently in the first team, do you think he will be sold in the summer? Personally I don't think he will after the issues of this season.

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - I don't think the club will take any notice of his colour, it is not an issue.}

I agree the players should all be trying to let this issue drop, but there's still a part of me that's happy someone's finally pointed out that Evra had has hand by his side as Suarez walked past him

Ed is anyone in control at Anfield?
Glen Johnsons latest interview has "reignited" the Suarez row! We need to put this to bed, it seems Kenny has no control over his players eg

* Suarez while under investigation by FA flicks the bird at Fulham fans
* Suarez chooses not to shake Evras hand
* And now Glenn Johnson going all conspiracy theory to the press when the club should have closed this issue down!

Who ever wants to take responsibilty at Anfield should step upto the mark and kick these players up the aspe, We do not need ongoing bad publicity!

Kenny has no control over players, has rubbish tactics, signed crap players, has a rubbish league position, yet most of you still love him its beggers belief

Well done glen Johnson,thats what i call a team mate,we all know evra is scum so why let him get away with it.

Glen Johnson was correct in what he said but his timing is abysmal

cozinoz

More to do with kenny being weak. Do u honestly think any of our players wud have had the guts to do these interviews on such sensitive matters if mourinho or ferguson(forgive me if it offends u) had been in charge? The backroom staff need to buck up n stop treating players like their own kids. Rafa wud have given glen a good kick up his a**e.

Maybe Glen's trying to manufacture a way out!

How has Kenny still got a job. We have scored less goals then last year under woy. We are closer to west brom then man city yet all you fans cant see that the huge investment made has been a huge mistake. People say its only its 30 million net spend but who cares he still spent nearly 100 million and to me we are no better! A manager is judged by the league table and players signed ask AVB, Mick macarthy, Bruce,Warnock etc think about what we could have bought here and what we have. I dont think our owners will be happy with a just a carling cup to be honest. You fans on this site just see KK and think he can do no wrong. Well im waiting for the end of the season and like Henry said top 4 nothing else matters. Kenny will be lucky to make top 7. He is also starting to irritate me with the press always picking a fight with them whats wrong with him cant he handle the truth about his crap signings and embarrising league position. A carling cup is not enough after the spending he has done.
Even rafa would not have touched Carroll or henderson. Yet Kenny was offered mata and choose hendo shows how much he knows about a player.

In your post you keep saying 'we'... can you stop that as you're clearly not a Liverpool fan.

The thing is, Kenny isn't upfront missing the chances. KK has stamped his authority by returning us to playing glorious football. We're near the top for chances created, but at the bottom for chance conversion. Our problem is clear, a finisher is needed. It's a small adjustment that will, once done, improve us massively. Progress is progress, i'm sure you'll return to being a "die hard" fan in a couple of years.

Our results in our last 10 games is quite abysmal. Results in the league taking in the last 10 games only, would have us sitting in 16th position on the league table with 10 points from the last 10 games, with only Bolton, Wolves, QPR and wigan behind us.The reality of it is we havent improved anywhere near as much as the blind faith supporters would have us believe!

are strootman and luuk de jong likely targets eventhough summer is ages away
{Ed002's Note - Kevin Strootman maybe possible for Liverpool but I would be surprised if PSV would look to sell just yet. So perhaps one for the future. Luuk De Jong remains a target.}

Just read the glen johnson interview in the daily mail,a real good read and it's great to read what he says about paul mcgrath's comments about the suarez t-shirts also about the 'handshake' it's amazing how only us liverpool fans and players can see that evra wasn't interested in shaking hands yet the rest of the world blame suarez,anyway a good read.

My team against Sunderland

.............Reina.............
..Johnson...Coates..Skrtel...Enrique
..Bellamy...Adam...Henderson..Downing
.................Suarez...............
..................Carroll................

Reina: The only choice

Johnson: Kelly's good but not yet ready

Coates: Time to give him a chance over Carra

Skrtel: Fantastic player this season

Enrique: Same reason as Skrtel

Bellamy: A classy winger who can score

Adam: He can play well against such teams; he showed it against Wolves

Henderson: He is very good as a CM; with Gerrard injured, he can be a great choice

Downing: Is showing glimpses of class lately

Suarez: The only person who can get Andy scoring. Also can easily crush the Wearside defence

Carroll: Playing well lately. Deserves a chance.

How comes you have coates and skertel on the wrongside are you a real red
mrbrown

Realistic gradings

Reina: Not the keeper he once was probably better than Doni still though but who knows as we have not seen Doni in a red shirt - has too much to say about things at liverpool

Johnson: The best right back we have Kelly's average at RB

Coates: Time for him to take over from Agger who is vastly over rated

Skrtel: Fantastic player this season

Enrique: Had lapses against Manchested Utd that cost us a goal when we were beat a few weeks back Also had lapses in the mickey mouse cup final - Over rated

Bellamy: A classy winger who can score

Adam: Very Limited but tries

Henderson: Hopeless chicken

Downing: See above

Suarez: Striker who can't score

Carroll: We'll not even Paul could get this guy scoring

Rafa Benitez is at every televised football game in england and spain. He has put in a application for every major football job recently. He is always willing to be TV pundit or give football interveiws at these games.

So why is he not being offered a football project?

After all he is a champions league winner. A special one. Ed what is the inside story on Rafa Benitez. Why is he being over looked for football management jobs?

Signed Rafa Benitez {Ed002's Note - He has to wait until the right job comes along and an agreement reached over terms with the club. It just hasn't happened yet.}

When Mourinho leaves Madrid this summer we'll see what happens. Either that or Chelsea.

Iggypop

Who are you his agent

Benitez seems so much like the top managers that it's depressing: they all want a top club. Not one seems prepared to work hard to develop a lower club or create one from a mid-table club. It's like Lewis Hamilton saying he won't sign for any F1 team unless the car can finish 1st or 2nd. Isn't the real thrill of management taking a team like Everton or Fulham to glory rather than simply guiding MCFC/Barca?real to another win?

If managers hate agents, why do some managers have agents?

Many of the really top clubs in football encourage a pass and move attacking style of play. That is simply not benitez. He may have been effective at times but his teams are about as entertaining to watch as stoke..

Barcelona... Messi... 'nuff said.

He's not that great at throw ins though is he, and have you ever seen him clearing a corner? Needs a bit more to his all round game if he wants to be classed as a good player.

He is absolutely s *** in goal tho
