Has anyone ever seen a worse Inter Milan side than the one that turned up at Tottenham last night.
It's the worst Inter side I've seen in my life time.
Thing about Spurs is their full of themselves and totally ott with the smug attitude from players and supporters alike.
Forgive me for saying but when was the last time they won anything?
Therein lies the difference between us and them, if we were as good as they have been the last couple of seasons, we would not be revelling in being miles behind Utd but asking why aren't we closer to challenging.
When we break back into the top 4, which we surely will if not this season then definitely next, yeah that will great! but then it won't be enough and we will want to win the Premier.
Because that's who we are? Were LFC. not Spurs basking in being in the top 4 but still really an also ran.
I really hope we take them to cleaners on Sunday.
With all things being equal we should come out on top.

09 Mar 2013 02:07:04
I don't think Spurs are being smug, I think they're probably working very hard and it's paying off. it's their supporters who think they are now up there with Barca and Real!

I tink we can beat spurs on sunday were scoren lots of goals fingers crossed dresdon 85

What a sad post. I'm thinki you should have waited until after Sunday

09 Mar 2013 07:51:34
If u look at fixture list of spurs they have most difficult fixture list and I think they will lose games and will also drop points. if we beat them we will be nearly 9pts adrift of them after this match. we will have to get atleast 25 out of 27pts to have even a hope of european qualification and I hope we can do that because there is a ray of hope in me and I think we can qualify but we have to first beat spurs for that. even a draw will not be in a good result.

Spurs fan coming in peace to answer your questions. First off the reason us fans are behaving the way we have is because on our page a few of your fans have been talking trash. We're not smug, just wish your fans would show us more respect and not claim us a small team when we clearly are not. Spurs have been a better side than Liverpool last few years FACT. But all your fans just bang on about history, it's only that, history! We care about the here and now which as it stands we are fighting for a top 4 finish and a European cup so therefore better than Liverpool. Now onto the next point, of course we want to win the league but it's not going to happen this year so we'll settle for top four. Going by that comment why are Liverpool no longer talking about winning the league? It's still mathematically possible? Answer is because it's not realistic same with spurs. So maybe when your fans want banter with us they need to stop looking at there history and accept currently we are better. That's no disrespect to your team I do think things are coming together for you and next year should be a good one for ya. On prediction for the game, I think a draw but if there is going to be a winner I'd put my money on Liverpool.
Lets hope for a great game tomorrow!

Spurs are a good team at the moment play nice football etc etc, I have nowt against except I want my team to beat you. I hope you get 4th or higher as I fear my teams early season form means we have too much to do. we played at the lane in november and we gifted you two early goals I think but the then fairly much bossed the game without scoring which has been a problem for us, so good luck spurs from me but not on sunday I hope we take 3pts.

Good post from spuds fan, I like passion, I should be a good game tomorrow. But do think we will pip it tho.

Bil

Spurs fan yea you been better cracking side love watching you. but what have you won?

What have we won, check out some websites you will see our history if that's what interests you. I do understand your point though, when all said and done what you win is what is important. Thing is Spurs haven't been with the elite for along time now and we are getting there (slowly) so as a spurs fan I'm more interested in the future than the history. And seeing I wasn't around in 1901, 1961, 1962, 1963 etc I think I'm entitled to get excited about our current squad as I also believe you are entitled to about yours. But if the history of the club is all that's important to you then only 3 English clubs have won more trophies than spurs and yes I do know your lot is one of them. Thanks for all the decent responses guys shows its only a select few that really can't comprehend that spurs are actually a good side not just lucky. Many thanks

Sorry to hear some LFC fans have been trashing your team. A neighbour of mine a few doors away is a Londoner who married a Liverpool girl many years ago and now lives in the hallowed north west of England (area of football excellence)
We usually meet every Sunday in our local to watch the football on TV and discuss the previous days matches.
He regards LFC as his "second team" basically meaning if Spurs aren't playing he then regards us as his own team and I have now regarded Spurs as my second team, except tomorrow when we will both support our respected teams and hope for a great game of football with excitement and incident and of course a win for the REDS.

Hey Eds

There is obvious a trend about the players we are linked to (Sanchez, Sakho, Eriksen, Cisskho, De Vrij, Honda, Min and Gamiero): foreign, young, highly rated. Especially the 3 first are european top class.

My questions are: how likely is it that we will try to sign a player with a good/big name this summer?
And considering the negative economical numbers of 2011/12, how likely is it that the club will spend 15-20 million pound + on players like Sanchez, Eriksen or Sakho?

Thank you from Norway. {Ed002's Note - I thik the club will spend money and the owners will be supportive within reason. I would advise not to lose sight of teh extreme abuse of the owners from the fans and the ongoing damage that is being done.}

Sanchez is not european he is from Chilie

Owners would be fools to reflect behaviors of some "fans" to reflect on the Liverpool supporters as a whole. Every sports club/organization has some. At least they are not taking the banners out with their message.

I agree 02, it's an absolute disgrace, I shudder to think where we would be without their timely intervention and support for the club and managers, previous and current.

Agreed. I think as well sales of players will determine who and how many players we buy.
I'm not too concerned as I think we will raise significant funds from sales this summer.

I do think Downing will still be sold in the summer and his recent good form will help us recoup a reasonable fee for him 10-12 million.

Carroll also will go but I expect a fee in region of 10-15 million for him. Which at this point is better than nothing. We have to cut our losses on him and look at what the money can bring us in. I. I a player who will be an assets to the squad.

There's a strong chance Henderson is going to leave too. Hard to tell how much we would get for him. I would say roughly 8-13 million. Spearing will certainly leave in my opinion, and I'd say roughly 3-4 million will be the fee.

That's a considerable amount of money from sales alone. If you add to that that you could also see Skrtle and Coates leaving. That's another 20 million or so.

I'd say BR has his targets and will be already working on things.

I think spurs beating inter might be to our advantage. They may come for the gma feeling over confident, but, we're better and fitter than that inter side!

08 Mar 2013 23:52:22
No, Spurs losing 242-0 would have been the best result, with Dembele getting sent of for intentionally breaking both of Bale's legs would have been the best result.

09 Mar 2013 00:16:43
Recent form suggests we're better and fitter than that spurs side too. I just hope Jamie and Lucas can have a good game closing down players without giving away free-kicks inside 25 yards.

We shouldn't really concede in open play and we're more than capable of scoring 2/3 ourselves, hope Bale stubs his toe before kick off.

What recent form suggest that then? Think you'll find on recent form spurs are one of the best in the league. Like I've pointed out previously in the last 15 games you have lost 4 games vs spurs 1 game lost. Your acquired 24 points and we've acquired 34. That's 10 points right there and we're only 12 points clear so on recent form we've created our gap in recent games. This is not me slating your team this is just showing the facts. Maybe your fans need to show more respect. Saying that I do think if there is going to be a winner it'll be Liverpool.

I posted early last year that we should have been in for dembele befor spurs.

Yeah last 10 games we have played much bigger sides then you. Start counting them points in a few weeks

Re: last 10 games comment, are you sure about that. Think you need to check on that as you've only played 1 game against "tougher" opponents than us, Man city! We've both played Arsenal, you drew, we won and we've both played United, you lost we drew! In that time you've lost 3 games and we've lost none. Get the facts correct before spouting off!

Hey Eds, not a Liverpool question, but can you explain how the cup tied rules in Europe? Because Lewis Holtby is able to play for Spurs in the Europa league yet he played in the CL for Schalke earlier this season. Why is Holtby any different to the likes of Sturridge and Coutinho? {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers.}

Here goes for the children,

Holtby's previous team Schalke are NOT in the Europa League. Both Sturridge's and Couthino's previous clubs ARE in the Europa League. Now, do you understand the difference there? Because, you need to to comprehend the following.
Under the rules any player can only play for 1, that's ONE, club in either European competition. If either Chelsea or Inter happened to have not made it to the Europa League then both players could have played in the Europa league for Liverpool, because, they had only represented their previous clubs in a different competition, the Champions league. With their previous clubs in the same competition as Liverpool they become ineligible to play as they are deemed to have already represented the clubs.

2nd poster if your going to be condescending at least get your facts straight. If inter and chelsea hadn't got into the Europa league then 1 ( that's ONE) of either sturridge or couthino could have been nominated to play for us.

During a press conference, Alex Ferguson was asked if he had his time over again would he do anything different. He said "Yes I very much regret resting Howard Web for the game".

My plan for our squad:

Goalkeepers:

Pepe has started looking like his old self of late, He's 31 this year and has a few years left in him at the top. Brad signed a new two year deal earlier this season and is a decent and reliable number two (bar his spill at Oldham of course). If it was up to me I would move on Gulacsi, with young Danny Ward moving up to number 3, buy Simon Mignolet and do what Chelsea have with Courtois, loan him out for a few seasons until he displaces Reina.

Centrebacks:

Not our strongest position as it is, never mind minus Carra! I would expect to move on Coates in the summer and if the opportunity arises, flog Skrtel to Zenit for £15m. The boss seems to like Ashley Williams and I can see why. Of the ones we're linked with I'd also recruit Carlos Zambrano and Mahmadou Sakho as the latter can also provide cover and challenge for the leftback slot. I believe I am correct in saying Danny Wilson's contract is up this summer too?

Fullbacks:

Glen's been one of the best in his position this term and with Kelly as back-up and with also Wisdom being able to play here, RB is one of our strongest positions. I think Flano will go out on loan. As for LB we lack depth; we don't really have anyone else there apart from Enrique as Robinson is still too raw. Sakho would solve this problem and a central one too.

Central Midfielders:

With Gerrard, Lucas, Hendo and Allen we are reasonably strong, we just lack a bit of steel, Momo Diame for £3.5m seems very much a bargain. I'd let Shelvey go as he has an attitude, isn't good enough and would be nothing more than a squad player. Christian Eriksen may sound like a pipe-dream but it could happen and the boss apparently wants him.

Attacking midfielders/Wingers:

Coutinho has looked superb so far and is starting to look like the man he is compared to and has given us problems in the past: Kaka. Sterling will be exceptional providing he is handled correctly. Suso is awe-inspiring to watch on the ball, but may see his chances fall a tad more. I believe he needs more PL experience so would send him to Swansea on loan. Assaidi when he's played has impressed, but has apparently struggled to settle in. Move him on if he wants to leave.

Forwards:

Danny Sturridge has lifted a huge burden from the shoulders of our Luis who has shown everyone how world-class he actually is this season. Borini has been possibly the most injury-jinxed player I've ever laid eyes since we bought him and it would be unfair to sell him so early. Carroll will leave this summer definitely and I would like to see the funds go towards Alexis Sanchez, however I doubt this.

09 Mar 2013 00:14:26
Oh my god, I wish I had that much spare time

Alberto Aquilani was also very injury prone, note to the management, never buy another player from Roma!

08 Mar 2013 18:21:10
Love to us sign mamadou sakho, and stefan vrij to very promising defenders who would be great in the premier league.

Finance
Premier league has agreed a big sky deal.
This deal will be dwarfed by the one after when Google and Apple get interested.
Income and profits will increase, £100k a week salaries will be the norm, ticket prices will eventually reduce. , So
Why would clubs sell there best players unless they don't want to be here.
FSG will invest to at least maintain the standing of the club or sell for major profit.
My opinion anyway

Why in the world would ticket prices reduce?

What the hell are you on about?

You've been watching too much Star Trek

HB

We have just announced that ticket. Prices for kids are coming down to £5 in selected prem games already and kop tickets will freeze or possibley lower. Corporate seats will help reduce ticket prices for us normal fans. YNWA

Really? I've just looked at the season ticket prices for next season, my main stand ticket rises from £780 to £815, other main stand tickets nearer to the half way line go up to £850! Prices will not be dropping for the majority any time soon!

TBH I don't think we can beat spurs I hope we do but it looks unlikely. they have a better team unbeaten in 14 games and are playing some amazing footy. Hope we can get a draw

I know what you mean, but, I think we can beat them. I honestly do. We played arsenal and city off the park this season. Are spurs that much better?

You mean It's Bale that's playing 'amazing footy'.

Hope we smash them

Only Bale playing amazing footy? You sure about that comment. That's about as narrow minded as me saying only Suarez is playing well for your lot. Then again I watch all teams not just the team I support as I'm an actual FOOTBALL fan not just a spurs fan!

So Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that our debt levels won't impact on our summer plans, as he's had assurances from the owners, good news. the manager has to get his signings right, as we can't afford anymore mistakes in the transfer market. next season can't come questions quick enough, as I firmly believe with 3 quality additions, we'll make the champions league.

08 Mar 2013 18:20:49
the debt is nearly of 2012 year meaning it does not include shirt deal with warrior and other improved supposer ship deals. more over new tv deals will bring extra funds. and money from players sale will also be given to roger. so we don't have to worry about summer deals.
red singh

There will be more 'mistakes'. Not buying bad players but buying the occasional player who doesn't fit the system the way he should have or maybe just doesn't settle well, or can't adjust to speed of the English game.

It happens more often than people seem to believe. Top level managers can still have a 50-50 split on successful transfer dealings.

Personally, I think Rodgers has done some excellent business since he came in. Obviously both Sturridge and Coutinho are good value for money, and I think Allen will be great next season. Juries out on Borini; I think the lad has the ability and quality to make it but he does appear to have lacked confidence when he's been fit. Perhaps a side effect on him being on twitter so much and learning from the fans how utterly crap they think he is.

I am just wandering what people think of the new ticket pricing structure for next season. I think Liverpool is quite reasonable compared to other prem grounds but football is fairly expensive in general.

Mighty reds

I feel sorry for many supporters.

Many people travel to Anfield which includes high traveling costs also.

I'm still a firm believer that the two neighbouring cities of both Liverpool and Manchester suffered greatly due to economic woes in the 80's and I see this trend continuing like a virus throughout the UK. The fortunate ones were able to attend.

A change is required.

DaveyBootle

It's scandalous, fans getting priced out. £52 for a category A game!

Fans have been sucked dry by clubs for years as far as pricing goes, not just tickets either, merchandse too! the only way to change it is to stop paying, boycott the games, but you know what, it will not happen, fans need their footy fix, and the FA and the football league and the clubs know it, in fact they count on it! what are fans like when the season ends? sweating till it starts again!

I love the way all fans want to pay £5 to watch a game but want the owners to spend 30m on 1 player plus 120k a week wages when we already operate at -1m a week loss. get real lads its rubbish but the money needs to come from somewhere and unfortunately it's us.

Well said Fester, finally a realist!

Hiya guys, now that women are allowed to become members of the PFA, how would you all feel about the possibility of a female manager, if it were ever to happen?

Cheers guys

Super

Female manager, not just yet but a female member of the coaching staff (as long as she is good enough) would be welcome.

Assuming you mean theoretically rather than 'lets ditch BR' - sure why not, anyone who is good enough. Sign on merit and nothing else

08 Mar 2013 17:22:34
I don't think it is anything that would happen anytime soon, managers spend years and years in coaching and training, not to mention playing before becoming a first team manager, and if women are only just able to become members of the PFA then it would be a long and slow process. Unfortunately I don't think any team would want to take the plunge and become the first team with a female manager through fear of 1) failure and 2) ridicule. Women have never faired well in politics and probably wouldn't in football either due to the fact that football is a fairly misogynistic sport.

The reality of it is however, there is no reason why a woman should not be able to manage a football team as well as any man, had she had the same opportunities to learn about the sport. It is not about physical strength, more about knowledge of the game. Traditionally women have not been interested in football the way men have, but that should not hold back the ones that are. To be honest, I would not mind who managed Liverpool, regardless of race, gender, background, nationality etc as long as they loved the club and did well for us without being a right moron.

Super

I think it would work.

Short skirt and stilettos though as it's the only way a man listens.

Sorry girls.

DaveyBootle

08 Mar 2013 17:24:16
come on guy don't just disagree add something to this debate!

I personally think coaching/managing is ridiculous. Call me shovanistic, call me a pig, but i'm just old fashioned and believe women should stick to womens football and vice versa. Womens football has come a very long way, why ruin that and try and take all the good womens coaches into mens teams.
And where does it stop? women players? {Ed003's Note -chauvinistic pig}

To be honest, any woman that rises to that level would have to have been obsessed with a love of football for most of her life. A person like that may well make a great football manager. A lot ex or failed players become managers because they don't know what else to do. No woman would fit those criteria of apathy.

She would have to be ruthless like most of the top managers are. I can see that. I can also see some truly epic player contract negotiations.

SpudRed

It's an interesting thought, I agree also on it being a way off from reality. Merit and knowledge should be the only criteria for appoinent, not race or sex. Though that is also easier said than done. Look at how many male managers of color are currently in the prem.

On a more detailed view of this topic I can only speak to my own experiences in the game. Coming from the states, our view on women footballers has grown substantially in the last decade from our own national team successes and the popularity on the youth level. The best women teams today (from my knowledge) are still mostly coached by men. If there was going to be a woman manager in the highest levels of men's, I would think that they need to first start taking higher positions within their own game to gain more credibility and experience. Without that, I feel it will be a lot longer off from being a reality and genuine option to be a manager in a male dominated sport.

Do you mean make it a massdebate

Totally different mentality, wouldn't work, take things too personal.
Time of the month, maternity leave, etc
Whether we like it or not men and women are different on so many levels.
99% of the Modern World inventions are mens, 99% of love songs are written by men.
Don't let's shy away men are better at some things not all but I would say football definitely at all levels.

I think that the press conferences would be funny once a month "the other team is full of men and all men are b*stards"
Seriously though I think it would be a bad idea unless the woman had been sterilised then no maternity leave during a season.

You guys do realise women don't just happen to fall pregnant every year, on most occasions it's planned so I'm sure they would be sensible with it! I think it's motivation that could be the issue but if not then why not let them have a go! {Ed002's Note - I am not so sure that "planned" is the best term. On a recent visit to one UK city it was clear that pretty much every 14 year old girl was pushing a pram accompanied by their brother.}

Lol Ed, yes but we're not talking about chavvy little girls. We are talking about professional women and they would consider there career before having children.

Is any one keeping tabs on Jay spearing.
I know he is a work horse, but the
papers seem to be showering him with praise this week. from the Barnsley match to Blackburn. Any one seen him play?
How is he getting on?

He's doing very well there in the championship. Playing holding midfielder and he's scored a couple of goals. May even get promoted with them.

Think he's found his level. Expect the club to sell him in the summer.

08 Mar 2013 14:58:02
sigurdsson really did make the rite choice in joining the spuds they have the padded delux bench model that heats up your ass pool just have old school wood

He done well for them yesterday,
From his point of view he certainly did make the "right" choice more money and in a team that seems certain to the quarters of Europa and have a decent chance of champions league.
Some of the bitter jealousy in here is just embarrassing.

Roy

At least he'll be getting champions league football.

JK92

Playing ok now though just needed a little time to settle, bought him for 7m, how much did you pay for downing, henderson and the mighty carroll

Siggurdsons a trier but that's all.

Siggurdson made the wrong choice. He chose to reject one of the biggest clubs in world football history.

The point of my post was has he earned it if spurs get cl or win anything what has he done really his teams mates have carried him how can he say he made the rite decision when he has been on the bench more time then he has played

Kuyt was no more than a "trier" and the guy was well loved by Liverpool fans (rightly so) because determination is an excellent thing for a player to possess. I'm not saying sigurdsson has been that good but potentially could be a key player next year. (Not convinced still but you never know)

Let's stop worrying about spurs and bale, and let them worry about suarez, sturridge, coutinho and stevie g.

That's right we are the home side and we have the 12 th man come on

We aren't worried about any of those! Fact.

Much love

Suarez is better Spurs should be more worried than us.

Maybe Suarez is better, maybe. But we got a team better than yours and Suarez can only score if he gets his chances.

Iam quite pleased with the current Squad. Only 3 quality additions and the return of our injured players and we'll be right up there challenging for the title. We've turned a massive corner in the last month and I see us only moving forward now that the squad and the fans are starting to buy into Rodgers style.

one Winger
one CB
one Left Back with Enrique pushing on into the midfield.
A GK if Reina decides to leave
and finally a 4th striker if Ngoo leaves or we have extra funds.

thoughts.

We've 3 quality additions away from challenging for the league almost every season for the last 10 years and that seems to be the case again for next season!

Well the fact is at least your being positive, perhaps a bit optimistic, let's focus on top 4

Hey eds, can you please answer a question that has been bugging me for months, how come Lewis Holtby has been allowed play for Tottenham in the Europa League since his move in January when he played for Schalke in the Champions League earlier this season? Every other player that has moved and played in Europe this year has been cup tied, Sturridge and Coutinho for example. Please clear this up for me. Cheers. {Ed002's Note - He can play because Schalke are not in the same competition and he has not played for another club in teh EL. Sturridge and Coutinho are excluded as they played for other clubs who are no in the CL.}

Sorry eds not sure I understand - do you mean that if Chelsea/Inter had gone completely out of Europe or had stayed in the CL then we could have played them? {Ed002's Note - One of them only - a club may nominate one player who has already played in Europe that season as long as he meets the criteria I explained. So if Chelsea had stayed in the CL, Sturridge could have been nominated.}

Gotcha - thanks!

Any think we could get chris samba when QPR go down I no he's on a whopper wage but the lure of Liverpool/ premier league rather than championship footie we probably get him to reduce his salary monster of defender JON96

No. Guy is a merc only after money - hence him going to Russia in the first place, and now coming back to QPR just as his club in Russia make their first legit title push. He obviously has interest in nothing but the wages (and good luck to him, at least he doesn't do the whole 'it's always been my dream to join. ' thing

Hey eds. My question is, is Daniel Carr, the non-league striker, on a contract? If not, can he be sign now? Or would we have to wait until the transfer window reopens?
It will of course not come this far if he is not good enough, but say he impresses on his trial.
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - He has a contract.}

I think it's a shame in a way that Carragher is retiring. I look at Manchester United and two of their greats in Scholes and Giggs and how they've stuck around, even when not playing every game or the biggest games of the season, they still have a place at United and still make a difference and are great examples to their youngsters and any youngster in the game for that matter.

Just reading the end of Carra's interview it's a little saddening "I could play on for another season but the fact is the club will be buying players in my position in the summer and I can't go back to being a substitute again. " Said Carragher.

I say that's a shame, no matter who walks through the door this Summer, it will be better if Carragher's there giving some seniority, experience and some pressure just in case. I know he's worked hard, bled and broken bones for the club but losing someone so big and iconic for the club as well as experienced and battle hardened is just a sad thing, especially when he has more to offer. I'm not slating the fellow, he's been a saviour more often than not, if he calls it, then it's done and that's that but I can't help look at United and see they still have old heads at squad level helping the club in a different way than maybe they thought they'd ever be doing or asked to do.

I know Carra wants to coach and manage, he's apparently a lexicon of football, I really hope he does become an excellent manager and maybe is blessed to find himself in the Liverpool dugout as the ''Gaffa''. But whoever comes in will have some of the biggest boots to fill. I think overall what i'm getting at is it's safer to have Carragher's replacement, as well as having Carragher around the squad just in case, especially if other defenders who were meant to be replacements and have had time at the club go as well.

Just worried about having to start over with new centre backs coming in, at least when Hyypia went we all knew Jamie Carragher was still going to be doing a job. I always saw Skrtel as the next Carragher, or at least in that mould it might have something to do with the skin head or, the physical argy bargy style of bruising anyone who comes near the area with the ball. I see Agger as a cool ball playing Scandinavian centre half who's more in the mould of Hyypia, with a cultured style with the added luxury of a decent bit of pace.

BCDI. (Just having a nervous Nelly morning :) Ten games left Mr Carragher, it's going to be a rough last day of the season for everyone involved with Liverpool, I think everyone loses that day.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is signed on for another year sometime in August or September. iam sure when he sees the team training for preseason that he'll get that feeling back.

I agree. Seams silly on his part to leave, he would of played the cup games. would help the club massively if he stayed. But its his life.

Why should he? As you say, he's bled and broken bones for us for two decades. There are so many difference between him and the United bunches but two big ones - firstly, Giggs is still a big match player for them and Scholes often is as well. Secondly - every year they stay, they are likely to win another League medal, or Champions League etc. Carragher staying would only be giving to us because we aren't winning the league or the CL next year. If he wants to not be turning up at training every morning, punishing his body to squeeze those last dying drops out then fair enough to him, why bother if you aren't playing and your wages going could bring in someone more able to perform? There is never a good time to lose a Jamie but he's made his choice and all the best with it - he's welcome at Melwood any time and I'm certain will still be involved in Liverpool.

08 Mar 2013 13:40:56
Carragher has played consistant for 17 years its very hard for him to sit on bench now and don't forget his very proud man, you can't compare situation with giggs or scholes, they are winning trophys where Carragher has got nothing left to achieve, from here it only downwards for him and he knows it so better retire now then later regret it, at the sametime he spoke to Rodgers and rodgers said he wants to bring more players in his position so he would be 5-6th choice which he was never going to accept it.

08 Mar 2013 14:02:14
Let's be honest his legend and better to ritire now with his head held high, he spoke to Rodgers and was told the club are looking to bring more players to his position, indirectly the club/Rodgers don't trust him to be 2-3 choice then why continue being burden to the club which he has given more then 25+ years. I know maybe I'm reading too much but I think the club/rodgers don't want him, that's just my opinion!

Carra should be put in cryogenic storage and de-frosted for the Manchester United and Everton matches.

In your cup finals you mean? ;)

If you play in Scholes or Giggs position your likely to get some game time as a sub or be subbed after 50/60 minutes.
Totally different for a defender, if your not selected your unlikely to get a run out.

What ever happened to Dempsey? Does he
still play for Spurs? Not sure he was so much of a dodged bullet, but one that rebonded off a cigurette
box behind an LFC crest.

Count Luckystars

08 Mar 2013 12:27:49
he will take time to settle in.
same excuse we have it for our players when they don't play.
borini. allen. caroll.

Dempsey is Spurs third highest goal scorer behind Bale and then Defoe. So far this season Dempsey has scored 8 goals in all competitions.

I think if Liverpool were able to have signed Dempsey then he'd have been playing a much more attacking position than what he has for Tottenham, although when Spurs are struggling AVB tends to just throw Dempsey on and expect magic. But I think Dempsey would have had a real good impact for us playing those 22 games next to Suarez, instead of young Sterling being played out of position and in his first season of elite level football.

We've got Sturridge now and I think if he can keep plugging away and popping up with League goals, as he has done since his move then we should be very happy. As going forward I think Sturridge will score more and we really needed a striker with speedy feet to add threatening pace on the counter.

BCDI.

Borini, Allen, Carroll. Oldest was 23 when they signed for us. Dempsey was 29 when he signed and playing in the most physically demanding position in the squad.

That being said, Spurs haven't been happy with him

I do wonder if we'd signed Dempsey would we still have got Sturridge in Jan?

For me its always Parker who is key for spuds
especially against Liverpool, was like that also
when he played for westham. If we sort that,
we can beat spuds.

Yeah never mind Dembele it's not like he's any good. you Liverpool fans do make me laugh

You've not watched Spurs this season have you? Parker, since back from injury, has been quite poor. Dembele has ran the midfield alongside Sandro. Luckily for us Sandro is out. I hear they've got this young Welsh guy that's hit a bit of form too. Gareth something

Well you must like us a fair bit if you are over here on our page.

The spurs fan do you actually believe that just because you have able players, they are all equally world class? And all equally effective against every team? Dembele is a player who is very able, but we have dealt with him without major complications at Fulham and in the first game against you. Same with Lennon - played against many times and always done very well to stop. This poster is pointing out that Parker is a player that we have played against many times and usually failed to nulify in any sense of the word, and as such he has often proven the lynchpin of our downfall. He is not belittling any other member of your squad, you have a good bunch of players. He is just pointing out the single one that, in his opinion, is most likely to be especially effective in halting our plans. You Spurs fans make me laugh - silent for decades and then one world class player and a run of a couple of wins and you think you're the best in the world and every one of your players is the world leader of his position.

As to the original poster, I do agree with you. All season we have actually done quite well against creative midfielders (aside from Santi Carzola) but have struggled against tough physical holding players like Parker and Diame

Haha come over to the spurs page and see how the other Liverpool fans are behaving. We actually have a great deal of confidence because it is merited by the way we are playing. "a couple of wins" I think you'll find it's 14 games without a loss. Can you say the same. Also reading on this page you are going to "smash spurs on Sunday" now who is getting excited because they won a couple of games? I have nothing against Liverpool (my dad supports your lot) but your fans really need to accept we have the better side. Although I do agree you've turnt a corner recently and next year should be promising for you. If you can keep Suarez!

I think his name is Gareth Thomas Daley

Its been reported in a newspaper in dublin that saurez has had a pay rise due to there policy of new incentive based contracts if true do u think this will be enough to keep our little magic man I like all our fans really hope so thanks for your info on this eds JON96 YNWA

No I am sorry but I think without champions league he will definitely leave and for he will get a lot more than a 120 thousand pounds.

08 Mar 2013 11:28:19
oh well roll on sunday. I think this will be our biggest test yet playing a spurs side oozing confidence and a player at the top of his game. this will show just how far we've come since the transfer window. but I've got a good feeling that spurs are in for a shock if sturridge and suarez play. we'll run them ragged. there's no way they can play a defensive line as high up the pitch as they did against inter. because if they do we'll catch them out big time. come on the mighty reds ynwa

redsheep

You mean like arsenal did last week. spurs play that way as a tactic and so far most have fallen for it so beware.

dave

In fairness though, arsenal were lazy at the back - that's why Spurs won. Take nothing away from Spurs they had a great game, but they scored two identical goals that a good defense wouldn't let happen once - if you're that switched off, you opponent can play whatever tactic they like

Arsenal's forwards are no way as ruthless and cutting as Liverpools

08 Mar 2013 11:07:04
Heard a rumour we're going to smash Tottenham this weekend.

Sure it was not just the missus saying you were having mashed spuds and gravy on sunday?

They haven't finished rebuilding tottenham from last time people smashed it

5-0 for me with a double for Suarez

08 Mar 2013 10:36:56
I heard with interest on a web site the other night that if the Qatar group fail with Arsenal takeover they would be interested in Liverpool FC. What do the ed's think? {Ed002's Note - You can keep hoping.}

What is the point? With FFP rules we don't need vast amounts of money. FSG have enough money for us to be competitive, we have more money than spurs and they are higher than us so all this money is useless unless used correctly. We will be fine.

Lfc do not have more money than spurs!

Well if the Qataris take over Suarez stays and we would buy 3-4 class players without needing to sell this summer and push for the Barclays League next year. Also they would give us more funds than FSG for stadium development or new 80,000 stadium. The fair play rules will not kick in for a few seasons so enough time to get us back to the elite!

08 Mar 2013 12:29:51
lfc did had vast money. much more than top teams here. we blewed away. spurs will not blew their money. they will not over pay.

and you honestly think apart from us. anyclub would pay 18 mill allen?

spurs were reluctant to pay 18 mill for a goal scoring machine diamo.

We blewed it away?!

Thanks for the comment Inspector Clousea

If you were BR you can't really be changing the team that beat Wigan, would be unfair on the players that played.

Shame as which leaves him with a dilemma, as Allen won't be getting too much time on the ball so hendo is far better suited. And I'd like to see sturridge start :/

tough one. Anyway its not my problem, good luck Sunday boys :)

They might have scored 4 against Wigan but they didn't play brilliantly across the field, can easily justify making changes. Plus, just because something works in one match doesn't mean it will every time

A Manager who doesn't alter the team to fit cicumstances like injuries/players getting healthy (Sturridge), form (Coutinho), or stategy vs opponent (Henderson) won't be a manager for very long. I seriously doubt BR will decide his lineup based on awarding players for the Wigan game. He will put out whatever starting 11 in whatever formation he feels has the best chance to beat Spurs (As any good Manager should). let's just hope he gets it right and we see the Reds Triumph!

Sturridge was brilliant in his last game against Swansea, plus he's unique to our squad, we don't have another player like him.
Sturridge will be selected.

08 Mar 2013 10:14:44
Why Suarez is better than Bale.
1. Suarez can use both feet. Give Bale the ball from 30 yards on his left and he can score. Give him the an open net from 10 on his right and he will possibly miss the ball. You can hardly tell which foot is suarez' better.
2. Bale needs to get the ball in space whilst if you give Suarez an inch then you he will make the best defenders look like sunday league players.
3. Suarez has been doing the business all season whilst Bale has only come into the fray since mid-january, if i'm being generous. At the start of the season we all talked about defoe doing it for spurs.
4. Now obviously bale is still a top quality player, but I think he rely's on his power and speed. Obviously he has more to his game than that but I seriously think if enrique has a good game then Bale can be nullified. I have less confidence in Johnson however. If bale goes into the midle then a combination of lucas and gerrard can stop him.
Roll on Sunday.
dr

As much as I wind up my spurs supporting pals, they have more than just bale so on a realistic note we need a good game and hopefully get 3pts. Roll on Sunday.

08 Mar 2013 10:41:37
I don't know why we even debating about bale with Suarez, anyone knows about footy will tell you that Suarez is special talent where bale is mediocore talent, his big fish in small pond where Suarez is bigger fish in bigger pond, Suarez can walk in any team including Barca, if we play glen as wing then he would do much better then bale, bale just has pace nothing else to his game, if you see him properly he never dribbles to pass players like top players do but he uses his pace to run players. If any player is close to messi then its suarez. And any player close to bale is our own Glen but we need to play him high up the pitch!

I agree calling spurs a one man team is really disrespectful considering some of the performances of dembele, vertongen, lloris and defoe this season. It is probably better had I put this on the spurs page but ah well.
dr

Bale only has pace? Guess you didn't see his finish in the 92nd minute against West Ham. Bale has it all, he can pass, dribble shoot from anywhere. There isn't a side on the planet he couldn't play for, Suarez is top quality, but there are plenty of top strikers out there, players like Bale are few and far between.

Gareth Bale is a fantastic footballer.
Luis Suarez is a fantastic footballer.

Sunday's game will be about more than just these two players.

On paper the two teams first elevens are pretty evenly matched so it could all be down to our home support to tip the balance!
ANFIELDPETE

Not sure how you can call bale a big fish in a small pond and suarez a big fish in a bigger pond when we have been above you in the table for the last 3 seasons, don't spout off about history either we are talking about the here and now and unfortunately you Liverpool fans don't like to here it but tottenham are a better side at the moment. It will be a good game sunday but don't go spouting off too soon

08 Mar 2013 12:31:21
gareth bale is an excelent footballer. a true winger by all aspects.
luis suarez is genius. that's it.

Here and now. spurs have still won nothing.

Your correct we've won nothing but have built something capable of winning things. Even you must agree something special is happening at the lane. Don't wanna hear the whole "you'll be nothing when Bale leaves" because the same was said when Modric left!

Gareth Bale is a cracking player although annoying with his renaldo copycatting but still a great player.
Just like Modric? he might not be so great away from spuds.
Whereas Suarez is a true talent.

08 Mar 2013 10:07:20
Firstly I'm not getting carried away and thinking Coutinho is the new kaka or the new Martin, who was meant to be the German messi lolol

but after watching a very poor inter side last night with next to no creativity, how did he not get into the team?

Simply put. Their loss is our gain.

I would be extreamly dissapointed if we miss on honda at the price for 5-8 mill or free when his contract expires in dec 2013.
he is a gem of a player. an absolute quality.

I wish we would have signed him instead of allen.

we would still need a right sided forward player.

seems borini will tkae much longer time to adapt and settle.

we must get CL next seaosn. no matter what excuse.

harry scousser
ynwa

We should never have signed Joe Allen or Borini. Add them to a long list of players not good enough for Liverpool. let's hope BR signs another 2 good players like Sturridge and Coutinho though because these guys have great quality. DBol

And add that benefit on Asian markets, if we sign Honda.

Borini has only played 15 or so games and has had 2 long term injuries. give the kid a break I think with a full preseason training under his belt he will be quality for us next season. Also give allen some time as well he will only improve over time. for me he's the new lucas. a player everyones writing off but ill bet he comes good next year.

08 Mar 2013 12:33:26
lucas only cost us 5 mill and was bought as cover for mascherano.
he took time. and he had the time.
borini was bought for 11 mill and as importatn striker.
he cannot have too much time.
we cannot buy another striker to cover borini.

Lucas was not brought in as cover for Masch - he was brought as a attacking midfield and converted into a holding mid when Xabi left

Where did this thing come from with 'buying Asian players give you loads of supporters in the Asian markets? The most famous and best loved player in Asian is David Beckham! Since the World Cup 2002 (and possibly before) Asia have followed world football and not just the couple of players they have dotted around. There might be a small boost, but nowadays going and playing over there every year pre season is how to increase your Asian market, not by buying Asian players

08 Mar 2013 09:40:42
Spurs main strength is pace, bale and lenon can give any fullback problems with their pace, we need our fullbacks to be top of their game, attacking wise we are good but defensive wise we have got some problems, spurs are going to explore any mistake at back its up to Glen and enrique if we are to get 3 points!

08 Mar 2013 10:03:27
dont care. unless we keep scoring. I am sure they will nick in 1 goal.
we should score atleast 3.

Score at least 3? Are you mad, you do know they have lloris in goal who has been amazing ryt? It's going to be a close game and let's be realistic a draw will be a good result for both sides.

08 Mar 2013 14:31:36
lloris is just a human being whose height is 5"10.
if he lays down completly. still a striekr can pass the ball into back of the net.
lloris does not man mark a striker neither come outside his box.
passing a goalkeeper is not a big deal if your feet is magic. calm and composed.
and suarez. in this form. will pass him. from 25 yards out.
simple as that.

Actually, a draw will be bad for both sides - a draw means Spurs will likely slip into 4th and Liverpool will likely be dropping even further behind Everton and out of any real contention for 5th. Both teams are in a win or bust stage of the season

Yeah but you could say that about every game, of course you want to win but being realistic you can't win them all and have to accept that a draw is a good result sometimes. Surely your not that blind?

The guy who went on about lloris only being human, I didn't understand what you are trying to say in your message but height doesn't matter when your as athletic as he is and he only rushes out when he knows he'll win the ball so let's give spurs the respect they deserve. Great side which is improving under a great manager. Same thing Liverpool are aiming at!

A streaker can pass the ball into the net they must have done a lot of training!

Hi Eds,
really important to get a win on Sunday. The fixtures sheet looks ok with spurs, chelsea and everton all at home and away games at newcastle villa saints hammers reading fulham don`t look too difficult to get a win either. Hope for maximum in all the remaining games. have a good day.

Newcastle in St James is a difficult match for anyone no matter what they are like and what form they are in. Villa Park is the same

Yea but if thought about it then very match left is going to be hard.

They are particularly tough stadiums to visit. Going to West Ham, Reading, Southampton are nothing like visiting St James Park or Villa - both of those two are big, intimidating stadiums with a lot of mad supporters in them. By comparison, WH spur on their opponents with racist jokes and Reading/Southampton are pretty much just happy with what they can get. Some teams do have a greater home advantage than others, and Newcastle are definitely one of those teams

We've played west ham away already. won 3-2.

Just using it as an example of a stadium where home advantage tends to be pretty negligible

08 Mar 2013 08:55:14
all we need to win the spurs is the ref from last night u just no carra will do a boss tackle in the box bale will dive the ref will give a red they get a pen hope not but with pools luck if we didn't have bad we have none

08 Mar 2013 07:07:46
Really hope the kop gives it all sunday! If you really want this, sing your brains out like against Zenit! Come on you reds!

07 Mar 2013 23:48:33
The thing about spurs is they don't like and can't cope with physical teams who get stuck in and are fearless against them.
However Liverpool don't like it either

That performance from inter reminded me of our first half performance against old trafford.

07 Mar 2013 23:29:35
bale won't matter on sunday if we starve him of the ball

time for brendan s possesion game to come into its own

Unfortunately that won't be enough, many times for spurs this season he hasn't done much all game just to score the winning goal. Try starve him the ball and somehow he'll still create something.

Bale isn't creative, it's a myth. He waits for his chance and then bursts onto it - he won't carefully draw the FB out of place, he'll wait for an inch and smash past. don't give him that inch, he's going no-where

Sorry but I'm welsh and I'm a big red and have to put you right there pal about your myth. Surely your have to be creative to score for Wales.

Sorry, what I mean by 'creative' is that he won't often do like Suarez and go on a mazy dribble, pull 4 players out of position and make big holes around the field for either himself or other players. What he does do is seize on even a tiny mistake by any player he's up against and make them pay, but he still waits for those mistakes he doesn't make them happen.

No Bale doesn't make mazy runs around for no reason you are correct but he does get the ball dribble past 3-4 players then scores. Can you Liverpool fans please watch a game that doesn't have Liverpool playing so you realise your team isn't that special anymore? that's a Serious question please watch some games! Please!

Charlie Adam had the best way of stopping Bale, Skrtel put him in the stands also haha!

Ed001, I'm not sure if I read this somewhere before, maybe even on this site a few years back, but is it true we once nearly signed Raul?

07 Mar 2013 22:42:31
I'm actually buzzing for Sunday. Can't wait to bring spurs fans back to earth. Although can't be to bitter and got to take my hats off they've done well. Which I hate although its better then the mega rich clubs getting up there and gives us hope we can do it with our new wage system as well

London red

Good post mate, I fully agree.
