Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

Ed, i saw first hand tonight how some of our own players can get abused (via twitter) and i've got to say, that could definitely put someone off form!

Long live the King!

Stu.

I tried Twitter, and decided it's not for me.

Could you tell what has been said and towards whom?

I would appreciate it.

Thanks, James.

Was just towards Lucas, saying he's fouls too much blah blah blah...

I wouldn't worry mate, the positive ones far outweighed the negative comments, which makes a change. It could be very different after we've just lost a game though..

Stu.

I agree about Hernandez - Imagine if we could get him and Gaston Ramirez, either in January or in the summer. Then Suarez and Coates would be happy

Are Suarez and Coates unhappy? And shall we sign players to keep them happy? I hope it never comes to that at Liverpool.

Wud be gr8 if got them both. Class players imo, which we dont have at the moment apart frm suarez.

Ah lay off Kenny,i dont believe any other manager would be doing any better at this stage of the season with the exception of Shanks but he's not with us any more ,so we'll just have to stick it out with the king who has the same passion for the club Shanks had.Theres no other manager i'd rather have in charge at this time

I feel that some supporters are too quick to get on Kenny's back, we currently have a manager that would have easily matched Ferguson had it not been for the lasting effects that Hillsnorough left on him, because of his compassion and love of the club. I consider myself a die hard iverpool supporter and I believe Kenny's passion for the club to way surpass mine.

Ed, I've heard a few rumours lately that there's a search bar on this website :O I wondered what that big thing with Search above it was! Bet that (in theory) makes your lives easier!

In all seriousness though, a bit of constructive criticism, you cannot comment or rate posts found via the search bar, might make people more keen to use it if you could :) Cheers, just some food for thought.

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed001's Note - ah, good thinking Adam, being able to reply on there would be very useful, thanks.}

Liverpool contact Barcelona about singing Seydou Kieta.

givemefootball.com

Can't say i've ever heard him mate, looks like a bit of mo-town kind of guy?

Stu.

I just read it mate and the givemefootball site (unreliable at the best of times) states that it's according to talksport (enough said).

Blah blah blah yes kenny has lifted the club over the year but lets be honest his win percentage is low and in the matches we really need and sud win his tactics are off the mark ie bellamy sud have come on early against a weak united team. His buys are second class downing yes his wages might be lower than mata but come on who wud you have for 20m?
Lets face it on a hunger to get rid of woy kenny was not the longterm answer the quwstion is will the owners trust him with more money as we have cried out for a quality striker and speedy winger for as long as i can remember..hving spent 100m our squad is weaker tham spurs and the existing top ffour teams...the future the same has it has been for the last 20yeatrs how we missed so many chances to shape thefuture after istanbul

The club needs stability and further quality investment in the playing. Above, new players need time to settle in. We've had too many changes and too many players coming into the squad. Yes some of those new players have yet to convince but let's give everyone more time. To discount this squad at this stage of the season is madness. I'm also sure we'll strenghten the squad in January with one or two players heading out. I'm still backing KK to to turn things around. Let's all be patient.

Rush,fowler,Owen,Torres,Suarez would none of them qualify as quality strikers?The blah,blah,blah at the start of your post made more sense than the rest of it.Yosser

My view is that KK has bought as good as he could.. Established and shining for their previous teams in the EPL before we bought them, and cheap(ish) to contract. Just think of where we finished, Aguero and Mata wanted CL and stupid amounts of cash that we didn't have. Everyone needs to not just get behind the team, but show it at the matches aswell (obviously not aimed at yourself)
I agree about your substitutions comment though, I would like to see some changes around the 60-65 minute mark.

Myk

Afraid to sign your post in case youll have to eat your words?

What makes me laugh about those who have become anti Dalglish is those same fans want hodgson and were anti Benitez.. So for these reason I laugh with such humour of the idiotic coments.
I bet they want and expect Mourinho or Gaurdiola to drop sticks and enter liverpool.
To early to judge dalglish yet

08 Nov 2011 21:41:38
Kuyt could be playing his last season for Liverpool as he does not offer much extra in attack especially with Liverpool seeking to add an extra striker in coming transfer windows. However Dalglish is clever and could utilise Kuyt after Christmas in a bid to pace Liverpool's season to maintain momentum at necessary times.

08 Nov 2011 21:40:29
Heard som rumours that Andy Carroll has cut his hair, about time

Anyway, are there any intrest in David Hoilett from Blackburn?

U serious about the haircut?

'Bout time the hippy..!

Myk

Carroll did attempt to cut his own hair but missed (again) with the scissors and he lopped an ear off. His barnets still a joke but the stick he gets doesn't seem half as bad.

I just want to say what a job King Kenny is doing at Liverpool and the way he as turned the club around is unbelievable. He as really gave us fans hope. This time last year we had none.

The style of football is really is good and we play controlled football he as also developed a really good squad. The measure of what he as done was that we was disappointed with not beating the mancs at home. Also anything less than a point at Chelsea will be disappointing but that is just a measure of how far KK has took the club forward.

He as done this in such a short space of time and everybody is pulling in the same direction.

Mighty reds

Wow.. A positive post..!
Result!

Myk

A very good away from but poor draw in home may cost no 4.

Evening eds,
Hats off to you for having to read the same old posts about signings & negativity and then taking time to reply with honour. I couldn't do it without language so well done.
I just cannot understand why so many posters are having a go at their own players. 11 games in, new squad and people want massive wins every game or else. We have played really well in some games this season and we have also played average but hit the woodwork loads of times - that's unlucky in my book.
But the posts I find the most pathetic are the ones calling for KK's p45! What are these people on? Kenny has turned the club around since the day he was reappointed. We were down and out, relegation status, at our lowest ebb and this guy takes the job and gets us out of the mess and made fans fill Anfield again.
Posters must be naive or clueless about the game if they can't remember last season. How many times did we fail to fill anfield under Hodgson? Will never happen under Kenny!
Special mention to 001, he doesn't tale any Sh*ep off fools, makes me laugh!
Ultra Red

Great post ultra red.In terms of being positive here's my top 5 positive things about the club.1. King kenny is our manager.2.Luis Suarez is the best player in the premiership.3. Pepe reina is the best keeper in the world.4. We have outstanding owners 5. We have a really well run academy.tough times at the moment but when Stevie comes back and the new boys settle better things will turn around.Yosser

08 Nov 2011 21:10:39
I am confident that Kenny will deliver a title for us, anyone taking over the squad left on its knees by Hodgson needed time to restructure. I also think that Andy Carroll will settle, Rushy took time to settle and we all know how that ended up. YNWA

Don't hold your breath mate. We're a long way off that title yet. Let's be realistic, not going to happen for at least 4 years, and that's being generous.

08 Nov 2011 21:04:48
I think we should play a 4-2-3-1 when everyone is fit

Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique

Lucas Henderson

Bellamy Gerrard Downing

Suarez

Or a 4-3-3 with carroll spearheading and bellamy and suarez on either side

GuvTOB

08 Nov 2011 20:13:17
i think we should give carrol a rest he has not had a run of games if luck had went his way he would have 7 or 8 goals! it takes time to build a team i think l,pool been gd to watch this season kenny aint going to get it rite straight away it takes time

You build a team in 1 window, it takes approx 2 seasons of them playing together to release the team's full potential. We have the basic structure of a quality top 4 side but we are missing a couple of top end players to really compete. I mean Spurs players all know each other and added parker who fits straight in the centre as well enrique has fr us at left back. Thats why spurs control games. Arsenal have added real quality in Gervinho and Arteta coupled with their others quality players and improving back four means at this moment with the squads as they stand Arsenal and Spurs are odds on to finish above us. I will back our team till the end but with the cohesion of spurs or quality of arsenal we are likley to under achieve this season. But we can set ourselves up nicely for next year as the players should gel by the end of this season.

08 Nov 2011 20:26:31
Just a question to the people wanting rid of Kenny after what is it ten months, who do you want to replace him with realistically? And what will you want to do with his replacement if in your opinions he is not up to scratch after ten months? Replace the replacement? That's a sure fire recipe for success isn't it? YOU CLUELESS CLOWNS.

Waro

If that did happen, I'm sure Rafa would put his name forward at least for temporary charge.

Ash

The more I read your posts Ash, the more I despair mate.
The Real KB

And the more I read your posts KB, the more I think you just hear what you want to hear. What exactly do you "despair" of here?

Ash

You're judge, jury and executioner all rolled into one mate.
What happened to the ideal of the club growing sustainably, sensibly. Not everything yesterday. Do you honestly think Kenny doesn't see what we do ?
Let the man get on with it.
The Real KB

I could read Ash's posts all day. Comedy value mate.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

It would make no difference if the Lord Almighty descended from on high and assumed control of the club and Liverpool won every subsequent match 10 -0, Ash would still be on here whining.

Red Owl

Ok guys, let's close our eyes, cross our fingers and hope for the best eh? I presume if I am proved right this season, you will all be man enough to apologies and admit I was right, just like I will to you if I'm wrong?

Ash

"I presume if I am proved right this season, you will all be man enough to apologies and admit I was right"

Right about what exactly Ash? After the last two seasons and the state that the last two managers have left our club in I didn't expect us to challenge immediately. There is another five clubs who are probably stronger and better equipped than us, although I expect us to challenge, I will not be surprised if we don't make it.

JRG

Nice to see you leave off the last bit of the quotes there JRG. By right, I mean we are still in the same situation come the end of the season and all this talk of the team needing to "gel" is nonsense and the signings that you lot have been saying "need time" are still not firing ie Downing, Adam and Carroll and prove to be a waste of money. I will also say categorically, that if we finish 6th, like you are predicting, Kenny will not be the manager next season. You don't spend all that money to finish where you did last season, especially when Arsenal have lost 3 of their best players in one foul swoop and Spurs have a net spend of 8 or so million.

Ash

Ash - what gets me is that you are suggesting to bring back the manager who is to blame for us being in this position. It is Rafa's poor signings and negative football that is the reason we finished 7th in his last season. You criticise Kenny's signings and say he has wasted money and that he should be sacked if we finish 6th and then advocate the return Rafa who wasted money on poor signings and finished 7th in a less competitive league and with Gerrard and Torres in the team.

JRG

JRG - Please tell me where I suggested bringing Rafa back? I merely siggested that Rafa would be a willing candidate to put his name forward if Kenny was no longer there.

Ash

who do you think our 3 most likely signings will be in january

I'll take this one Ed002:

Please refer to earlier posts.

08 Nov 2011 19:47:20
Eds, is there any particular reason why Bellamy isn't getting more match time? Do you think Kenny is reluctant to drop Downing or Henderson due to their transfer fees? I like Downing but, after 11 games even just an assist would be nice, or maybe I'm just asking too much from a £20m player...
Bellamy has 2 goals in 2 starts, surely he deserves a few more.
Cheers
L4ever
{Ed001's Note - the fees do not impact on the choices made, but the long term intent does. Kenny is trying to help the players settle in and bond as a team.}

Come on ED- any manager (except Mancini of course) would have their chairman on his back if he had a 20m player not getting a game. {Ed001's Note - rubbish, you really have no idea of how it works, because it certainly doesn't work like that at Liverpool.}

Erm it does

08 Nov 2011 19:43:17
why don.t we go after jermaine defoe in january also see if we can swop g johnson for las diara from real madrid to give us some bite and speed in central midfield lucas and adam not good enough.

Cause defoe wouldn't sign for you!

Turn off the playstation, and get behind the team we have.

We will not sign Defoe but if we wanted him he would come. At the end of the day you Tottenham boys seem to forget you have a wage cap and that will see Modric leave whether you are in the Chapions League or not. Sorry boys

Plus the fact liverpool are a mutch bigger club than spurs an always will be

08 Nov 2011 19:27:57
hi,
Eds do you think liverpool will make one quality signing , or a few average players

Thnx {Ed002's Note - You mean like ever? If you are talking about January there is no need to yet again say what we will expect to happen - you would already have seen it when reading the other posts.}

08 Nov 2011 19:17:48
Hi, just wondered if there is a chance of us looking at either Matt Jarvis of Wolves and Chamakh of Arsenal as I dont think he's been given a chance there? cheers

If Jarvis leaves Wolves he will want to sign for a club going 4 champions league

Jarvis can't even get into Wolves team...

08 Nov 2011 19:16:11
we should sell Carrol, Release carra and send Henderson on loan to a championship club and i think KK should step down, too old fashioned, and i hope stevie g comes back after this injury

Michael

100% agree

Owen

I think carroll needs at least a season he needs a run of games if he had a bit more luck he could 7 or 8 goals plus he has been on bench to robbie

Does
The swan {Ed003's Note - It does to me The Swan,each Ed has different opinions on language that can be used but if a youngster reads the site I think.. would I want my child seeing that particular word}

Send Henderson to the Championship? Are you mad!? Seriously, this is a lad who now has over 80 Premier League games under his belt and through most of that time he's shown a lot of promise. Sending him on loan to the Championship would crush him. It would do him no good in terms of development either. He doesn't need experience or anything like that- what more can he get from the Championship that his 2+ Premier League seasons haven't given him already? What he needs is the support of people like you to help him develop into the top player that he can become.

08 Nov 2011 18:29:19
everyone was saying in kk we trust an he knows what hes doing but hi im a bit worried about our recent signings carroll is a complete waste of money he is slow his first touch is poor and i cudnt see us getting 15 ml for him if he was sold .henderson is also slow his passing is poor never a lfc player and at 16 ml way too much.we bought downing to get the crosses in for carroll but he seems like hes not settled in tidy even tho he is proven prem player. adam is also slow but good passing in my opinion we need more pace in the midfield to help suarez who was an unproven prem player but is amazing british doesnt mean best as proven on many occasions. my point is we supposedly bought these players on chances created proven ability british based and resale value but there is no way we would get any decent money back . id like ur opinion on these players what they have done so far and if they will be moved on or will kk stick by them

This has all been discussed a 1000 times already. Perhaps leave it now 'til Jan at least?

dd

Oh shut it already.
if you don't support these players when they aren't performing well, don't you dare start supporting them and celebrate when they do start scoring you pessimistic trash talker.
Basic moral in life. If you haven't got anything good to say, shut your mouth. Didn't your mother teach you that?
Running your own players down will never help them or the team. So get behind them or get lost.

I arrived home this afternoon, sore from head to foot, pounding headache. Wrecked. Began Reading, then re-reading continuous posts on "Fans" calling for Kenny to get sacked, and posts on who we should sign in January... Yep, it was the final tip over the edge... I think my head has just imploded.

vorm: liverpool a one-man team
swansea goalkeeper michel vorm believes liverpool are running the risk of being too reliant on luis suarez, and lack other viable options in attack.

how many of us agree with it ? be honest i agreed. i am afride when suarez going injury we will sufer so much. hope he have an injury less epl.

I dont agree with this at all I think Suarez is a great player, and if he had scored even half the chances he had made for himself and we were sitting in second or third I would agree with this but he hasn't he should be top scorer with all the chances he's had but he only has 4 league goals he is not that great in front of goal, dont get me wrong i think he is a fantastic player but the sun dont shine out of his ar$e, also his chance conversion rate is only slightly better than Andy Carrolls but public oppinion on the 2 couldnt be more different

Gman82

Man 7 of us agrred the post 2 not. so its clear we are in risk. we have to bring another top class striker

You people and your stats ! Suarez is 100 times the player carrol is and is only 24 . the way half the team plays we are lucky he signed before we got those other players ,or else we wouldn't have 1 quality attacking player bar Stevie

Already said this earlier, 2 man team changing to 1 man team... this isnt good.

Forgot to sign off*

08 Nov 2011 16:28:56
eds would do u think luis garcia would be a viable option . i mean the guy is a legend in liverpool shirt. just like flower came back for one stint with us in 2007.
Ramses {Ed002's Note - No. Just throwing up random names of ex players in their mid 30s just wastes everyones time. Sorry.}

How would an older luis garcia make any impact to the team?The lad is a legend.But to be honest he was never the best player anyway.He was good on his day but he wasn't a great like fowler and at that time we needed a back up option.Luis would probably be about 5th choice now.

Danny

Luis Garcia, he drink sangria, he came from barca to Liverpool... No chance.

08 Nov 2011 16:28:53
People need to chill out. We are 3 points off of 4th! I expected it would take LONGER for the team to gel. Anyone who plays football knows that it takes time to learn a players moves etc. I have a feeling we will only get stronger as the season goes on, and provided we can stay close, we will have a real go for 4th. I would like another offensive player added for sure, but winning starts from the back, and we are not conceding many goals, so we are always going to have a chance to win games. If we beat Chelsea we will look like title contenders. I would disregard the Man City game....they are too good right now and far out of our league. If we play well, we could squeak out a draw, but that would require a great day defensively.

I personally think where gelling well, and I know am probs gonna get slated for sayin it but we have just been unlucky in front of goal we have hit the woodwork 10 times this season and only Newcastle have a better defensive record. Keep smiling fellow reds things will get better
The swan

Why should we disregard the Man City result as if we are gonna be cannon fodder. We spanked them last season 3-0 if you remember.... Honestly I despair sometimes with our supporters and their so called "support". Who are we around in the table this year.....last year we were around the likes of West Brom,Stoke,Fulham,Everton and this year we are level on points with Arsenal who are apparently flying three points behind spurs who are apparently flying.... 3pts behind Chelsea and 7 points off united.... Normally we are at least 12-15 pts behind united at this stage of the season so what are we worrying about.
Anyone who cannot see the improvements made under Daglish's reign so far is absolutely blind.... Better football,better squad and better league position with gerrard to come back in as well.
I believe!

What about Humberto Suazo? He's definitely a finisher!

08 Nov 2011 16:20:31
people say carroll needs time 2 settle , still young , out of form....blah... blah.... i still don't understand itz almost goin 2 be a year now n still no sign of spark! 4m him....
kk under pressure deep down 2 play downing more often than bellamy bcoz of the amt paid sme as 4 hendo instead of kuyt.
come on u lfc fans v knw kenny is the king of lfc bt the way our lfc team has been playin is really frustratin,torturin, hurtin......... v need a player in his prime or top player nt a raw player worth 35million or 16million....

Disagree. He clearly has the talent. Keep playing him and soon will be rewarded.

Before we signed him, I only had one doubt about him that he just can't run with the ball, with confidence and so far, it has proved to be right. He lacks confidence by a mile. May he get on track, soon. We need him. YNWA

Carroll bashed up the big teams last season to the point, Reina & Co suggested we buy him, he was that unplayable (Pepe's words). Tottenham amongst others offered large bids in Jan, we offered more (we only had 6 hours to make a move) He joined us injured & is still finding his feet.

08 Nov 2011 16:12:47
Hi eds just wandering whats your opinion on the strength of leagues in general you get people saying that teams below the top six cant compete in the prem but Newcastle at the moment are showing different. Hasnt football always been like that with Liverpool dominating the 70s and 80s.

I suppose one big difference is now the strength and size of squads. Last season was one of the best where as anybody could take points off each other. Also football doesnt stop any team from getting new investment. I suppose now you have the city factor but all the money Chelsea have got are struggling at the moment then again that might have with changing manager every 5 mins.

In spain levante are doing well but it will be hard for them to be up there all season but you cant look past the two big teams.

I suppose the key in football is stability and keeping the same squad but a good manager knows when too get rid of a player out of the squad and replace them with equal or just better.

Having time to kill I just had a glance at the Man United banter page.....Is it always so quiet??....
I tiptoed away so as not to wake anyone up.

Puzzled

The only times its readable puzzled , is when us lpool supporters post on it , other-wise its mind numbingly boring , and thats just on a good day.............lfc

And yet your banter page is just your own fans slating EVERY single player except Suarez.

Oops - I DID wake someone up - sorry

Puzzled

Puzzled - Surely you should know that the United fans like it quiet, have you been to OT?

No name - the United page is just your own fans slating Anderson, Carrick, Evra, Evans, Nani etc etc..........

JRG

Haha we slate Anderson, Carrick, Evra and Evans when they have a poor game. You slate your whole team whether they put the performance in or not.

You lot only come onto the champions banter page because you wonder what its like to talk about being in the top four.

According to most of you mugs you were going to be challenging for the title this season!!!!!!

Shall I mention you club motto for the last twenty years, "There is always next year".

Still if you qualify for the thursday night cup it will be an improvement.

Bazza

Bazza - well ate least we will be on the City page next season so you won't have to put up with us for long.

JRG

...and yet Bazza you have come onto OUR page...hmmm

Hi Eds

I really feel we are missing a trick not playing Bellamy on a regulat basis, either right wing or up front, with Carroll coming on as a sub with 25 mins to go, the right side is an issue and apart from Suarez we lack pace in the team, I still believe we are moving in the right direction, ok we didnt beat Norwich or Swansea but we didnt lose either, must always keep the faith in LFC and KK its still very early in the season, lets see where we are come May 2012. (Your thoughts please ed

Jim {Ed002's Note - I am sure the club will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season and I agree movement is generally in the right direction.}

08 Nov 2011 13:02:16
Hi Macca,

This is my first post but thuoght it needed saying...

Firstly I have been hearing and reading some crazy stuff recently, questioning Liverpool, the players, there prices and even, yes, even King Kenny himself.

Now I know that it's been a good while now since we won the league, but it is what it is. There are other teams that havent won anything for longer!

When Kenny came back he did so to support the club he loves and by doing so the fans he loves. Like all the fans Kenny would love nothing more than to win the league amongst other trophys but it will take time and wont happen over night.

The facts are that Liverpool now have the right people at the top who are willing to spend money to drive the club forward, unfortunately we lost ground with the last owners but this can be made up in time. We also have the best man for the job in Kenny, there is no one who knows Liverpool better and slowly but surely the team will change.

I think the fans can rest assured that both the owners and Kenny will assess the situation in January and again at the end of the season and make any relavant changes across the club. Meanwhile as fans it is our job to throw our full support behind the whole thing, no bickering and no questioning, lets let the people in the know do the jobs that they know.

In Kenny and in LFC we trust!

Thanks

George

Well said mate

Totally agree George lad, I think everyone was disappointed with the result on Sat,people thought we were gonna go out there & smash em but we have to give Swansea some credit they played some good stuff & their keeper was man of match,it could be worse we could be down there with the bl****ite..

Lets face it Carroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam were brought in for a lot of money. They did not fix the fee. The main point is these players are just not up to Liverpool standard. Agree?

What is 'Liverpool standard'? This phrase that's been banded about. If we're stuck in 1983 then Adam would have very little chance of getting into the squad, let alone the team. The same goes with Carroll, Henderson and Downing.

But we are not in 1983, we are in 2011. I suppose if we're playing FM2012 then yes let's boot out Adam and sign Schweinstiger etc.

The general feeling on this site is that with the addition of a natural goalscorer to put away all the chances we are creating we would be a minimum of five or six points better of - I think most people agree with that?

With those extra points we would be firmly in the top three and challenging the Manchester clubs. Everyone is quick to criticise the players bought in but surely they must be doing something right if most people feel we are one player short of a team that will challenge.

JRG

Talk about grasping for straws you are pathetic.

Expensive straws!

Most of you are stuck in 1983!

Hi Eds

Just wondering what the situation with Raheem Sterling is at present - seems a great prospect but doesnt feature at all in team line ups / on the bench. Would be good to give the lad some experience. Can you update me on the situation with him please? {Ed002's Note - He is a 16 year old kid. Perhaps when he is 18 at the end of next year he will go out on loan for the first half of 2013 and then get a chance in the 2013/2014 season.}

Age should not realy matter, if your good enough your old enough. Look at Rooney, he burst on the scene when he was 16

Rooney was an exception. and built like a tank.

Why have to weait until he 18 then send for loan. we can try him in our team. if owen can play in 17 for us then why he cant ?

Sterling body structure doesn't help him. He's a bit too light for first team. We're moving him right by playing in reserves. Suso, I hope, he's loaned out soon, he is my most favourite lad in the academy. YNWA

Surely the lad is no smaller than luka modric, and David silva is no powerhouse himself

The split opinions about Andy Carroll are not going away. No matter how you look at it, there are more against him than with him and I suspect the ones with him are probably the rose tinted variety.

No matter how you look at the pro's and con's, the one big thing that is definitely the main bug bear is the price.

On one hand you'll have the fans saying 'ignore the price' on the other hand fans are judging Carroll as a £35m signing. You then have 95% of football fans everywhere ridiculing the lad up and down the Country and that is obviously a bitter pill to try and swallow or even to try to argue and justify.

Although I don't tend to take a great deal of notice of the amount we pay, I take the line that if we wanted a player and prepared to pay whatever the asking price then that's good enough for me. The problem/issue in this modern day world is the fickle football fans up and down the Country, in the media and the perception of what is a 'good buy'.

Standards of performances verses price tag. Is this football's equivalent of E=MC2 and how we should judge a modern day professional footballer? And is this fair? Practicable?

Every fan has an opinion about what they think a player is worth. Of course this opinion is formed with 80% of all the information missing but we don't want to dwell on that do we? Us fans see a player playing football and that is it. A valuation is dropped upon and only in hindsight is it viewed as value for money or not. The other ridiculous method we do is comparing different players to each other which are the main weapons used against Downing. '£20M for Downing against £25M for Mata, we've been robbed.'

The exception is Carroll and his price tag. He was never worth £35m at the stage in his career when it was paid, that is agreed upon. Will he ever be worth £35M is again a debate we may end up losing. I suspect the fans are actually dying to see him succeed if only to ram the taunts from rival fans back down their throat if nothing else. We always seem to measure the price tag against everything a player does. My mate on Saturday text me to say 'Carroll's just hit the bar from 6 yards, is this what a £35M player does?' How stupid is that statement?

Whichever camp you decide to judge Carroll from, it has to be said the club must/should have given serious thought to the pressure it would place upon the player, the manager, the owners and the club by buying a player for such a large amount that currently his ability did not warrant. My only criticism in this Carroll transfer is exactly that. It was a massive, massive gamble at a stage in the club's recovery we probably could have done without. Even if Carroll had hit 10 goals already, he'd still be getting flack.

According to many, things are not going well and when things don't go initially to plan out comes the vitriol and damning statements. When you pay such a massive sum on just one player, the intensity from everywhere is amplified creating more pressure, which in turns creates more intensity and soon you have to call for a 'siege mentality' in the club. That isn't a good thing and it certainly does nothing for a young 22 year old, still naïve and without the tools to cope with such pressure.

Henderson and Downing are currently going through the same maelstrom bought about by the 'spent £100m on crap' statement which is generally flavour of the month at this moment in time. Charlie Adam, interestingly enough, doesn't appear to be included much. Maybe because of his overall level of performances but definitely because of his 'low' price tag. Had Adam gone for £20m, he'd be dodging bullets.

I personally would not have bought Carroll in the first place and I definitely wouldn't have bought him for the amount we did. However the one thing that is glaringly obvious. He needs our support, the club needs our support and we have to do our jobs.

It's going to be hard enough for Carroll to win the doubters over who do not support the club. It'll be nigh on impossible to win the club's own supporters over if we continue along the track we are.

Let's agree on two things. He aint worth £35M now, let's support him through thick and thin though whilst he's at this club and put a little bit of faith into the club. It's amazing how much assistance this is to a player knowing the supporters are doing what they should do and supporting him.

We can make him be worth £35M in a few years time or close to that figure. That is how much power the fans have. We can also make him to be the biggest, costliest flop in World football but first you're going to have to get over this hang up on the price.

You choose.

Bob the Red

Well said mate.
Remember how long it took Dzeko to start scoring at City? Now he's scoring for fun.

And remember how a certain Mr Rush went 9 games without scoring early in his senior career, but came good in the end- and then some?

One thing you can count on is that Andy C does not want to fail at LFC- he is committed to doing his best and learning KK's style of play.
It may work out for him at LFC and it may not, and he may not end up an automatic starter- but it is too early to say at the moment, and all the fans are doing right now is harming the confidence of a player who really needs their support.

Top post Bob, the boy didn't have to move to LFC, but importantly he WANTED to and did. So instead of slagging him and saying what he's worth, get behind him, create a song for him and show him that we do SUPPORT him!

Hi lets look at our management team
daglish last two jobs many years ago fired
clark last job fired
kean last team relagated
comolli spurs fired.
scream all you want im just pointing out some facts.

I totally get your point...

...our management should have an awesome team name!

Anyone have any ideas?

RenegadeRed

I agree truly phenomenal experience and background. People learn from their mistakes and nobody is perfect. Sacked Managers like Mourinho, Hiddink, Ancelotti must be really worried. There arnt many people managing in football today who havnt been sacked at some stage.. its all part of the learning game :-)...Now there a competition EDs...who hasnt been sacked as a manager ?

Tel 1949 {Ed002's Note - Mourinho has never been sacked for one.}

You forgot to mention that in his last two jobs KK got Blackburn to the premiership title, and Newcastle to second.

He's proven he can take different teams to the top given the resources- not many managers have won the top division with more than one club.

How about the four stooges

How can you disagree against facts ?

ED 002, I bow to your wisdom oh great one, but I was genuinely under the impression that Mourinho was sacked ? I checked on wikipedia ( dodgy info at the best of time I know) and it says: 'Mourinho unexpectedly left Chelsea on 20 September 2007 "by mutual consent," although there had been a series of disagreements with Chairman Roman Abramovich. The Chelsea board held an emergency meeting and decided it was time to part with their manager.'...anyway I dont like him so I will assume he was sacked cos it makes me feel better !

Tel 1949 {Ed002's Note - The keywords being "by mutual consent" - there was a discussion at Ason Villa at the start of the month and then the conversation at at the end was along the lines of "I will leave if you agree" followed by "fine with me". The two remain good friends and there has been an occasional exchange of gifts (a 612 Scaglietti to Mourinho I recall and a nice watch so Mr Abramovich knows what time it is). Would you choose Steve Nicol as Liverpool's next manager over Mourinho?}

Vincent del bosque fired after the day he win CL with Real madrid. after that Real dont win CL anymore. del bosque win world cup with spain so . Kenny win EPL with 2 difrent team so even he get fired nothing shame.

correct me if im wrong ED but was it Liverpool who bought somebody in the last window and sent him on loan straight away due to work permit or something? I remember hearing it but cant remember for who, If so who is the player? position? etc {Ed002's Note - Villyan Bijev is the player. You need to understand that we are not here just to answer question after question because you can't be bothered to use the search function or look elsewhere.}

Coca Cola is mulling down with their naming rights offer due to Liverpool keep delaying the announcement. Coke paying more then other 2 sponsors but unhappy with on delaying the announce. Now Chelsea offering chance for Coke to sponsor their stadium. YNWA {Ed002's Note - Seems Coke in their business dealings are as fickle as the fans after drawing or losing a game!}

Is this a case of procrastination or uncertainty by LFC. Would hate to see this option go 'up in smoke'. Surely Coke would have considered all factors. Further LFC is a International brand, enjoying massive support across the globe, Chelsea do not have this kind of support. {Ed002's Note - I very much doubt any of it is true.}

LFC are one of biggest names in football due to history etc.. CFC are a lot smaller due to lack of history

I really doubt Coke would pull out of a major multi million dollar sponsorship deal over 6 month to 1 year delay...

Get back to school.

red snake

Plus Liverpool play in red and white!

Coca Cola, actually bought the naming right to Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg (South Africa) in 2008 for £30m, not sure for how long the arrangement is in place. Besides that I believe they have acquired the naming rights to two (minor Baseball league teams) stadiums in the USA.
Exciting to think that a massive International brand like Coke, would be in partnership with LFC, a synergy of epic proportions, taking the LFC brand everywhere on the planet (if the rumours are true of course).
Could you imagine pictures of Anfield (do not know proposed name) being on Coke products sold all over the world, billions of bottles and cans, and all the potential "new LFC fans",what exposure, Brilliant!. Shankly's Red Army.

I hope Big sponsor stey with us. but why we take so long time to take a decision? from player choiceing to manager every time is same.

Hi Eds, do we play salary for players out on Load,
Aquanlai and J COle ?
IF yes why we send them on loan ..they would have been of some use ? {Ed002's Note - It varies, sometimes Liverpool would pay part of a players salary, sometimes all, sometimes none. Liverpool are still paying a large contribution to Aquilani's salary and there is no point explaining again why he left the club. It was discussed ad nauseum in the summer. As for Cole, Liverool are paying part of his salary and still paying off his signing on fee. I doubt either will play for Liverpool again.}

Perhaps we should change our philosophy to pass, move and score. A lot of fans on here keep saying we are the best pass and move team in the league because we create the most chances. Well chances are no good if you don't finish them. I watched all of Carroll goals just before we signed him and about 80 per cent were headers. You can't play pass and move football with wingers in the modern game, it requires the use of space. If you play down the wing you have a narrow passage to exploit, so you need a winger that doesn't need to pass.

I think if we switched to 433 and played with Adam, Gerrard and Lucas in mid (with Gerrard for Henderson when Gerrard injured) this utilises our best mid players in their best position.

Up front we can then play Carroll (if he ever comes good) as the spear head with downing and suarez left and right. Again this best utilises the forward players we have in their best position. People will say downing is a winger but his best performances came from playing as a wing forward like ronaldo.

Defence wise much as i admire carra he should be on the bench now. Its no surprise that he's been missing for two games and its two clean sheets.

rewflo

Ridiculous amount of agrees here, "if you play down the wing you have a narrow passage to exploit" i suppose well just play four centre mids and get crowded out then? You need wide players in football, at least 1

y do kk plays adam n downing 4 full 90min they seem 2 b tired and lost 4 da lst 30min of da game,i feel kk needs 2 give bellamy more than 10min 2 make an impact in da game...

08 Nov 2011 08:13:16
no disrespect to kk n dc but do anyone feel dat v just watsed 100millio approx. in da transfer dis season. WHOM 2 B BLAMED DC OR KK 4 buyin players at the price before they are worth 35million or 16million... downin definitely playin like 20million player just like juan mata with lots of assist and goals same goes 4 kun n andy...

If you look into it, I think we spent about 30mill tops, the rest was sales money.
Considering that we have halved the wage bill and got rid of trouble makers and selfish attitudes, we ain't done to bad.
Henderson is England captain, Carroll was chased by spurs and watched by united and others, downing is useful, croates will be a star, Adam was wanted by spurs, united and aresnal. So I don't think we done too bad.
Looking at Arsenal and the grief Wenger gets for not spending, guess we can't win either way. {Ed002's Note - You need to understand the true costs of moving on the players who were no longer part of the plans - and it increases the expenditure significantly. You can add to that the costs of paying the wages of players who are no longer part of the club's plans (Aquilani, Cole) and pay-offs the club will need to make to Cole when he moves on in the summer. Additionally VAT, agents fees and VAT on agents fees must be taken in to account. Whilst the club have moved in the right direction and have reduced the wage bill, the cost of doing so is by no means insignificant, particular given the loss of any income from Europe this season. Additional income from next season will include an additional £10M or so on the shirt deal from Warrior, so it bodes well for the future, but it remains vital to get back to playing in Europe, preferably in the Champions League.}

08 Nov 2011 07:57:52
Christmas from Santa... good quality right sided, proper pacey, can score goals winger - then put Kuyt and Suarez upfront.

08 Nov 2011 07:49:51
I honestly believe Fergie took Owen at Utd. because he knew he'd be back at Liverpool... because we had the Brokeback numpties in charge and Rafa we didn't snap up Owen. He would have brought that clinical edge to strike force we need. (that's if he can remain uninjured, I know!)

I also believe he feigned interest in henderson resulting in us paying way over the odds.

And Adam. Rememer, "his corners are worth £10 mil alone." And then he goes for 8.

Ash

Actually you've got good point - DoH, Sir Alex is a little trickster!

Ed001 or Ed009 as you have twitter I think? Or any other tweeting Ed, Ha Ha.Do either of you follow a guy called Miguel Castro (@miguelcastroLFC) ? have a look at his timeline of tweets for the last 24 hours, He has been banging on about LFC Definetly building a new stadium and claims he has seen the architects drawings, claiming it is "revolutionary" etc etc. Firstly do you know of this guy and whether he would know what he is on about ? Have you heard anything further about the stadium? He is pushing hard that a new stadium is a definite and hanging his reputation on it. Just curious.
Cheers

Aussie red

He said not that long ago that he had been told that we were definately staying at anfield. He makes it all up {Ed002's Note - On Twitter, surely not.}

He also said we were going to sign Hazard in the summer. He's full of sh@t.

08 Nov 2011 03:27:37
I see the president of Barca, was commenting on the financial situation in the Spanish league, he further mentioned that a number of teams are in serious financial peril.Further mention was also made of potentially reducing that league to 18 and maybe even to 16 teams, so as to share the TV revenues.
Would be interested to hear what fellow Reds supporters opinions were on this, as well as those of the eds.
Regards and thanks, Shankly's Red Army. {Ed002's Note - Spain has a totally different distribution at present where more than 50% of the television rights are given to Barcelona and Real Madrid alone. Then you have to consider that the total TV revenue in Spain is less than half that the English clubs share.}

Ed, do you know where Adam Pepper went to?

I always thought he looked a class act in the youth team..

Thanks

Stu. {Ed001's Note - he was released and has drifted around, I believe he was playing in Wales last season. He did look a real prospect at one stage.}

What "salt" of a player was he?
