It seems to me that Cole is lost at Liverpool. We as fans should help him find his way....to John Lennon Airport

Haven't been on for a while, but reality still missing from the X box generation.
We go to eastern Russia to a team who have won all there home games with a team full of kids and bench warmers, outplay them and don't score ... Shock... Really
Well we now know and more importantly BR knows about his players.
Brad stay on your line, but worthy of his shirt with great saves.
Flanagan is good enough and can fight with Kelly wisdom for a short
Wisdom, with Kelly and Flanagan how much have we saved in transfers.
Coates, can't judge with Cara along side him.
Cara, it happens to us all, legs gone
Downing .., fullback back up, but paid to much for that
Shelvy, stay on your feet, it's not the 70s, but a great investment.
Hendo, I still have faith, but is there room for him with others around.
Suso..., could be worldy.. Money saved again.
Coady.. Didn't do himself any harm, early to say.
Morgan.., championship, not enough pace for the top level
We now have know we have players and cover for the medium to long term across the back.. A little investment only.. Left back and keeper.., if reina goes his money should pay for replacement.
Mid field a tweak or two
We all know its a forward..
So lfc should be able to plan with the knowledge that the squad will only need a tweak rather than major money cos the kids will become men.
Check the reality we are competitive just need to finish the games off..hopefully we choose the right one, the deadwood should fund other additions..
If its FIFA manager off you go to city et al..
The business is in a healthy position even though the league as we all agree isn't .. Walk on through the storm...
Pistol Pete

Thanks for the sense Pete. I guess the advantage of being older is that we have seen the rise and fall over the years/decades of ours and other teams and therefore look at it as a life time journey, not just the current season. I don't mean this as a go at the kids at all, just that the smaller the expanse of your memory, the bigger the deviations look.

Not a bad performance tonight, but it is beyond me how on earth we paid anywhere near £16 mill for Henderson,I honestly wouldn't pay £1.60 for him.

In Jan we need to get rid of,Enrique,Downing,Henderson,Cole,Shelvey and buy some quality players

alan50

Get rid of shelvey? Are you mad!
We should get rid of you

You want to get rid of Shelvey? Sure, why not ship out our most in form midfielder! He will be a magnificent player in 12 months time. The rest of the list I agree with
Pieboy1812

Shelvey?

you need your eyes testing

He is not a bad player....
Its just that his confidence has been shot to pieces by the management philosophies of Brendan Rodgers....

As the cloud cover by Rodgers is slowly disappearing, I am not as optimistic as some other fans as far as Rodgers and his ways are concerned....

I am not prepared to admit that some of our buys last summer are as bad as they are made out to be....

If all of us were as intelligent as we claim to be, then the voices should have been raised then and there...Apart from Downing, I feel bad for the other purchases. Most of them are good, if not excellent, players who will do very well in a high tempo direct style preferred by Dalglish.....

We are all being shown this future picture that things will be fantastic in 2,3,4,5 years by Rodgers but I am yet to see any significant progress in any of the players with the exception of Glen Johnson, Jonjo Shelvey....

Skrtel,Agger, Gerrard and Suarez are excellent and will always be irrespective of who is the manager.

But having said that I am not one who will say "Lets sack Brendan"....On the contrary I would say that we must back our manager...

To be frank, I havent seen anything which convinces me that Brendan Rodgers is better than Kenny Dalglish or Rafael Benitez.

I'm not so concerned by the result over all, to be honest with no experienced striker I was expecting us to lose by a bigger margin. What disappoints me is that we actually had opportunities but didn't capitalise on them...Hendo, being reasonably experienced should have put that away in the first half and instead made a half assed pass to the opposition!

08 Nov 2012 19:54:18
suso needs to play in the center more often

He was great!

No he doesn't, or should i say he can't.

we tried that against youngboys first half and he wasn't in the game at all. he wasn't pressing players and he wasn't getting anywhere on the ball he was out of the game..

he stays at RWF he just needs to learn to aim to the keepers right.

But he's had a lot more exp and game time since young boys so maybe it would work, you can't dismiss it after one bad game especially wen you then see how good he was there v anzhi.

08 Nov 2012 19:53:58
So, we lost!
Honestly from me I saw a team with an average age of 12! It's only that high because of Carragher.
I was impressed, yes impressed... With our youngsters, Flanno, Wisdom, Hendo we know what i mean. Coady was awesome and Suso when he came on caused them problems.
We should be watching that game and leave proud, it also showed the senior players that don't cut it, I always liked Cole but now just no! Downing, one goal does not make you! Carra, sorry an absolute legend, but please coach the youngsters now please. Jones, wow.... When did you start doing saves like that?
It ll shows that we can't have it right now, but with this talent... I think it might be coming!
I am being honest in what I saw and I watch ALOT of football, all teams and games.
Thanks for reading
Bazzaa

In what way was coady awesome lol? Henderson was awful in the middle, shelvey proved once again he wont replace gerrard, morgan didnt look good enough at this level. Flanagan looked pretty solid, downing was his poor self, cole was... Well im not gona waste my time with him. Everything was how i expected it to be with 9 english players on the pitch 'no offence'. Anyone else think that was just an opportunity for brendan to put some players in the shop window just in time for january? Please guys how can you say henderson will make it at lfc? RedTurk

You were impressed by Hendo? Really?

They were young....but not that young

cozinoz

Coady did ok for a first time with the big boys in a real game and a very tough trip without a heap of experience around him. Shelvey is only 20-21, give him time, at times you can see he has a lot to offer in my eyes although looks cumbersome at other times. Jury out on Hendo for me still. I do agree, for a change, with Redturk about the shop window for a few of those without the excuse of youth & inexperience.

Andy K

Coady had his debut in a rag tag side that lacked experience.
We never looked swamped in the middle .The lad has been a leader at every level he has played at .Kept it nice and simple and moved the ball out wide well.
I have watched this guy and he has the potential to be a great player for us so give him a break .

How many kids play DCM at the top level ? Answers on a postcard please.

Thanks for all the replies, it is appreciated as I am interested to hear them.
I was exaggerating about the age thing!
Coady really impressed me too Piledriver, shop front comment is spot on, Downing, Cole and maybe Hendo.. I like Henderson as his attitude, he works hard and does what the gaffer says without complaint. He needs work but some of his passes are superb in both vision and execution, with work he could be very useful and I think due to this, his young age and the money we paid he is worth keeping, just my opinion.
Anyway, I don't celebrate a loss and trying to keep optimistic about our rather exciting young talent for the future.

Wasn't this expected when the starting lineup was released? So why complain before, during and after the bloody match. Joe Cole before, The manager during, and FSG after. It was a match we needed, so our finest can rest to play a big game at the weekend. I am by no means happy by the result, but it is not the worst situation, as our best haven't been wasted.

Piledriver

The big game at stamford bridge were will get hammered?

Disgraceful, Rodgers doesn't have a clue, bring back KK, should never have sacked him. BR is clearly out of his depth, no idea at all.

He's not the only one hey, KK wow you really are deluded.

Give the man a chance

08 Nov 2012 23:00:23
Give your head a wobble you plank.

No wonder we are in this position with fans like you who want instant success. Do one down to london and support chelski!

And how did you come to that conclusion. Might ask?

AsianRed

Okay Einstein why don't you go manage the team with so few players in 4 competitions, KK put us in this position if he didn't blow 100m we could rebuild, the quickest way to get rid of cole is to put him in the shop window. so if you have money or a plan for the future buy the club or apply for the job, also a no namer unless your name is no idea at all which would suit you perfectly.

Lil Red

A clueless report, the kids did well tonite dispite losing...

SHut up person... granted its getting sad to see us lose week in and week out but at least he is playing the young players instead of the drivel we had last year. We would have lost with players like Carrol and Adam on the pitch. What I would like to see is Brendan teach the boys to be more ruthless. The only thing pissing me off right now is the fact we play too much side to side football but as soon as get near the box everything stops or we yet again dont have enough bodies in the box

Slow Poke

Disgraceful, the OP doesn't have a clue, bring back the loyal supporters, should never have these short-sighted glory hunters, no idea at all

This is the type of post that shouldn't even make it on to this quality site! No disrespect Eds, I mean.... Wait, why am I eve writing a response to this nonsense?

Well I thought we played quite well against some very good players . Coates might have struggled with traores pace but thankfully he missed most of his chances . Also some of the first touches were poor but it's quite understandable with the pitch . Other than that we had chances to score ourselves and we got to see Morgan , coady , and flannagan fit again . Let's take some more positives out of the game . Plus SG has had the rest that some are asking for . Let's beat the chavs now .

Read before you reply?
Cue the moaners who always tell Managers to give the youth a chance and when he does, he gets slated for it. People are going to slate him for playing a lesser team, but do you actually think he WANTS to play the likes of cole and downing (thought he played quite well) against a team that are on top of the Russian league. No HAD to, we have Chelsea on Sunday and he knew we couldn't play the likes of sterling and suarez. There is a major difference in WANTING to do something and HAVING to do it. All in all, not too bad still two games left and the youngsters can hold their head up high today. Congrats to Flanno on his return from injury and must say Coady actually looks like a good player, he plays for the shirt like Spearing did but I think he is a much better player than Spearo. Jones is getting better and better and was our best player today. Well done you youngsters and hold your heads up high.

PS. This is a Russian team who are unbeaten at home and have only lost 3 times away this season.

AsianRed

Agree with your post Asian, also it was not a must win game and we will qualify if we beat Young Boys in 2 weeks cos Udinese wont beat Anzi which means we should be able to rest players for the away game in Italy.

Youngsters played ok but dont get why we played that kinda team and sometimes when we have the ball it puts me to sleep. No penertration no plan b

Maybe because it was youngsters playing?

I'm sorry to say but downing, Cole nd Henderson are rubbish...well done to kids...despite looking like we new going to loose these Kids done well...4-5 signing are required

Henderson why didn't you shoot? You owe me £35 lol

MIKEY

08 Nov 2012 18:53:27
16 million quid for Henderson, I wonder how much we would get for him now?

If we ask nicely Anzi might do a swap for one of those nice blankets they keep handing out every time a player is substituted....

Wizard...

Haha, gotta say wizard that one made me chuckle, the lad has less confidence than downing which is shocking seeing as though downing is the one who gets slated the most.

Poor goal to concede and golden chance messed by hendo what you think ed?

08 Nov 2012 19:01:43
Well there is really no excuse for this weekend. It's all well and true if we play our youngsters in the Europa league games but when where not winning games in the league with our first team. No excuses against Chelsea.

There are no excuses against Chelsea. We should have our first 11 fit (except Lucas) so if we lose we will have been beaten by the better team.
Then again it also depends on whether the ref and linesmen have been eating their carrots recently.

how does joe cole even get a match is beyond me, and assaidi not starting? I have been a brendan supporter but i just dont agree with him when it comes to cole. Frankly if i had the money to spare, i buy out his contract.

Given there is about 8 weeks until the window opens and the limited opportunities that Cole will get in the EPL, it is probably the only opportunity for him to show in the shop window, especially across Europe. I am not saying this is the reason but a possibility. Same with Downing. That being said, I don't understand the lack of playing time for Assaidi. When I have seen him play he has shown a bit and certainly more than some who are getting more playing time. I can only guess that there is some issue or concern that us supporters are unaware of.

Andy K

Can only think he is trying in vain to put him in the shop window

I don't have much but I'll chip in

A couple of thoughts during tonights match:

¤ Why a intelligent, promising manager like Rodgers still doesn't see that Carragher and Coates side by side is defensive suicide is beyond me. *Slow doesn't do their lack of speed justice.

¤ Henderson wouldn't notice a passing opportunity ahead if it jumped up an headbutted him in the nose.

¤ Cole looks like he is playing online with a dial-up modem behind MI6's firewall (geek alert).

¤ Shelvey is the new Iniesta. *True story. ;)

¤ Downing looks like he is trying to prove something. Which is the fact that he has lost the ability to play good football for more than fifteen seconds at a time.

¤ I love that Rodgers gives a couple of players a chance to start, and subs them if they don't perform in stead of "standing by the decision to play them".

¤ Flanagan looks good to me considering his age and being out injured for about as long as he has been a first team option.

Thanks for reading and sharing your comments if you would.

I think cole has been given enough chances to impress but respectfully I think we do need to sell him as he isn't what we need and he also needs first team football which we cannot give, for the sake of his career he should leave.

No one is going to buy a player that doesn't play. Especially when youth is being selected ahead of him in a team that is not setting the world alight.
We would struggle to sell Cole if he played every game and was our best player because of his age and his wages.
Rodgers has to give him games and ones where he has a good chance of having a significant influence to attract potential buyers.

Don't slate Rodgers for this, it's normal practice in football, everyone does it.

Simon

Sell him!! Even if we try to give cole away for free no one would take him, he is that bad and command big wages, total joke, cole playing ahead of assaidi is even more of a joke.

Sell Cole? I suspect everyone in the front office would give him away if anyone would be willing to pay his ridiculous salary. Unfortunately we are stuck with this useless lump. Thank Hodgson for that one. Financial suicide.

08 Nov 2012 18:21:19
shelvey has to be the worst player on the field, this is a very bad day for us.

I do hope you're being sarcastic as Shelvey is one of the better players we have.

He's becoming quite the outlet for Liverpool. We turned up with a much weakened squad because of the Chelsea game, let's hope the rest for some of the lads pays off. Shelvey might have just got his name on the team sheet after his fighting effort.

Cole and Henderson should look to him for what a football player is and then they might remember what is expected of you. Bravo Shelvey and Suso when on did quite well.

At last someone who shares my view. I am trying to see the best in this lad but all I see is how many times he gives the ball away with a misplaced pass or is slow in the control and gets robbed. Had his chance in my opinion. Needs to go on loan or be sold. Sorry!!!

YNWA

What makes worse is his over confidence. he should realise that his over ambitions cost us a lot. we can blame the referee for his red card against united. however, his challenge was unnecessary as well he was going to be get nothing through that challenge. i still do not understand why hendo and shelvey went for the free kick, when Suso had a good record of scoring from similar distance. Shelvey should have played within his limitations and that should have been good enough.

08 Nov 2012 18:20:52
This isn't a pun or like having a go about our lack of goals. I just really miss Kuyt, Maxi and bellers. They were quality blokes and gave everything for lfc. I feel like we have no senior lfc mavericks, just left with SG and JC. Never mind, come on lfc get a equaliser!
Benny baller

In retrospect, Bellamy was sold prematurely in my opinion. Rodgers thought he had other targets coming in and let Bellars go to Cardiff thinking he'd be replaced.

It wasn't to be, he's still be running every third game we play (dodgy knee) but we'd have another option at least. The same with Kuyt, although Borini's unfortunate injury is just part of the game these days and i believe he was brought in to take a wide forward position instead of Kuyt.

Maxi never really did it for me, although he made a habbit of running to the back post and that always causes defenders problems, panic, deflection, pressure, fast paced cross and goal line, eh it's a good mix and Maxi scored a fair few from it. But i feel he was right to be released and think we saw the best of his start to the Indian summer his career is now seeing (Maxi and Kuyt were on a heck of a wage packet.)

All 3 are sorely missed, i understand the wage bill had to be cut, but losing all these three and not replacing with anyone of equal quality was a bit daft to say the least! Bellamy would be perfect for this system and was one of out standout player last year,

Young lads playing really really well, we just need to shift it forward a lot quicker when there are players ready to receive the ball.

08 Nov 2012 17:55:48
Like I said, not offering the opportunities to the right players. Morgan looks like the laziest player I've ever seen. He literally look like an old women going for a jog. He is another case of jay spearing IMO. Coady just passes back and looks tottally out of depth. Why not play our better youngsters: ajorian, Pacheco, assaidi (even though he isn't a youngster), yesil, ngoo, Robinson. I'm starting to question rogers hunger and ambition. 1-0 behind at half time and offering nothing going forward.

Not fair, he runs and works all the time. If Morgan looks lazy then he's either playing hurt or you're eyes need seeing to.

I've watched that lad in the youth, reserves and for the few times he's made the first team and he's certainly not lazy.

Maybe a headless chicken, maybe out of his depth, maybe finding his feet and trying too hard. But never lazy. I'm not one of these fans that refuse to acknowledge fault in a red shirt. It's just Adam Morgan isn't lazy in my mind.

Worst post i've ecer read on here.
morgan did not stop running while he was playing. the commentators didn't stop going on about his work rate & desire.
as for coady, his pass completion was as good as anyone's on the pitch in his 1st ever start for the 1st team.

08 Nov 2012 17:55:17
Isn't it sad how far we have fallen under FSG..... Just look at the young inexperienced side we have to put out. We seem to go into the Euro matches in hope rather than optimism these days.

Away teams must dread us coming as we have no players worth watching for excitement, it's meant to be entertaining and with our threadbare team what can we expect.

We have no hope of progressing under these owners IMO with the severe lack of money.

I can support our manager but not the owners.

I just wished our club was owned by the fans and not an investment business.

They don't have any big ambitions just big mouths.

I hope our boys can do well tonight but don't hold out much hope these days :-(

Which bit about patience and long term plan don't you get? I assume that it is the patience and long term plan bits. And how do you think the fans will pay for all of the players you believe that we need to bring in? Yes, the squad is too thin. We all know that however this is giving the opportunity for many youngsters to get experience at a high level and be ready much earlier and therefore position us to have a very young and relatively experienced squad over the next few years and set up for the decade ahead. Nothing wrong with the owners as such, yes they have and will make mistakes, but their plan is sound and for the best of the future successes of our club. Red for life.

Andy K

You are clueless mate. It was h+g leavingus us damaged, not fsg. Some people really do have small memories. We are obviously not the force we were once and it's going to be a slow but steady build. If you don't like it, there are
plenty of empty seats at Stamford bridge or the etihad.

Fallen? From where?

08 Nov 2012 17:53:43
No imagination, energy or real desire upfront. Cole, Henderson better be taken off for the second half. We need Suso and Assaidi on, possibly Pacheco later.

we do all support the same side right?

give the lads a chance, Rodgers has clearly taken the chance of looking at a few players and cole etc are only there to be in the shop window...anyone would have thought hed picked himself....
get over yourselves boys and give the lads some support...youll never walk alone...remember?

3-0 loss coming tonight with that horrible line up worth a punt at 14-1!

I doubt it's going to be 14-1 mate. More like 1-1 or 2-1 is way more realistic.

Hope Joe cole gets a hattrick after reading the comments on here. Slag him after the game if he's awful, not before.

MIKEY

Mikey, I think the problem is he's been awful almost from day one. I don't think it would be as hard to deal with if he wasn't on astronomical wages. Either way, he's still pulling on that red shirt, and as much as I need to grit my teeth, he'll have my support during the match.

I hope he gets goals so Liverpool win, not because of fans exspresing an opinion on a website.
People's doubts Cole aren't without merit.
For the money he's on how shoulds be producing a lot better.

I agree. He is still a Liverpool player, and he should get our full support, as well as the Manager and the rest of the Team.

Damn it, I guess he didn't read the the posts!

Ok, He's awful

Ok game over. He was awful haha

MIKEY

Piledriver, if he actually looked like he gave a shit i would give him 100% support. His body language when he plays looks to me like someone just going through the motions, there is no passion or drive to his game. If i was Assaidi i would be so annoyed that Cole is infront of him in selection for games like this.

What is wrong with pacheco and assaidi? I think that pair could shine in the first team with a run of games.
Is there some underlying issue?

Cudge

On what are you basing your opinion on. plus we are not playing any wingers tonight. dowlings is more of an l/m then winger.

Agree m8 Assaidi does what a winger is suppose to do and Pacheco give him a decent run of games in the 1st team and lets see what he can do.

Cole and downing start? What a joke, this is the first time I've disagreed with Rodgers' team selection assaidi suso Pacheco on the bench ?

08 Nov 2012 16:34:16
Not at all impressed with the line up. At least play our better youngsters. I would have prefferd suso or ajorian at cam than coady. Robinson at lb instead of flannogan. Assaidi on the left instead of cole (getting really frustrated with rogers picking cole over certain other players) and yesil over Morgan. Poor poor decision making. Unfortunantly I can see us losing this match and chelsea and I am eager to see rogers excuses.

Seeing the team we are putting out today, I think it's safe to say the scoreline could be rather embarrassing. Cole, Downing, Carragher, Henderson - oh great. What exciting beautiful football we'll be playing with this team, not one technically skillful player on the field. Sadly i'm predicting a 3-0 or 3-1 defeat. Sorry to be pessimistic but no body can say that team would be strong enough to beat a mid table team, let alone a mega rich europa league side.

Jay

I'm still saying 1-1.
Just put a fiver on it.

MIKEY

Mikey you lost

Oh great ..... Joe cole is playing..... Can safely say we aren't going to win this one! Another loss to add to the growing collection...... We only need a draw n qualification will be in our own hands without going down to the last group game.....god help us

Andy

We win our last two and we should be good to go through. I would assume that there will be stronger teams put out to make this happen. While I 100% believe that the EPL should be our primary focus, the Europa league is still a great opportunity to develop and maybe even get some silverware.

Andy K

Rodgers has lost 5 matches and Joe Freakin Cole played in 3 of those. i think that sums up

The Reds team in full is: Jones, Wisdom, Carragher, Coates, Flanagan, Shelvey, Henderson, Coady, Downing, Cole, Morgan. Subs: Gulacsi, Wilson, Robinson, Assaidi, Pacheco, Suso, Sama

Has anyone watched Bolton much this season? I'd be interested to hear how Spearing's loan spell is going.

I've seen a lot of posts along the lines of "if I was manager I'd sell Spearing for £2m+" etc.

I read that he's getting a fair bit of playing time and got himself a goal but have no idea if his performances have been any good or if he'd go for that sort of price.

Cheers

He's doing really well he's bin man of the match in there last 2 games

Selling Cole, Downing and carroll wil be gud but Henderson wil be a sure improvement if he is given proper chances as Shelvey... Players who really r not interested is stayin at Anfield shld be sold to bring in players who works hard and loves the club as often BR says which improves the game, morale and tempo of every single game...

Shelvey went out on load, got playing time and improved, We tried to load Henderson out but he was against it. Could have done himself a favor if he had and showed what he can do.

08 Nov 2012 14:53:20
I've heard that Klaas Huntelaar and w.Bony would be a sure january transfer targets wit also Holtby in the cards... The sale of Downing and Cole will help these transfers... And the sale of Caroll next summer wil bring in Eriksen as he said he wil be happy to move to Anfield and the possibility of capturing Sahin and also Dennis paraet... Suso is a gud player but not so attacking... So these new players can help Liverpool in goals as wel as wins... Wat do u think?

So we're going to buy Holtby, Praet, Eriksen and Sahin. 4 midfielders. Why do we need 4 midfielders exactly? Where does that leave Allen, Lucas etc.? I know we're playing a rotational game but that's a hell of a lot of money to play for rotation players when we didn't have the funds to buy even Dempsey. Sorry, but it just sounds like you're recycling names and grouping them together. The only ones on there I could see a slight chance of us getting are Huntelaar and Bony, although I see Huntelaar as extremely slim and not really the answer in the first place. Would love Bony though, he's an absolute tank and buries goals. He'd scare the sh*t out of defenders. Eriksen has expressed his inherent interest to play in La Liga when the time comes, and has already said he's flattered by interest by Liverpool would quashed the rumours of a move.

Hi Ed001 mate,

Obviously, Rodgers has come in for the long term at LFC which I am delighted with. If you were in charge, would you have made Rodgers your first choice as manager or would you have gone for somebody else?

Apples ;96; {Ed001's Note - I wanted Marcelo Bielsa, he is crazy, but a genius. Having said that, I think Rodgers is a very good choice, if given the time to build.}

I agree, given time and the right backing Rodgers can get us challenging and winning major honours again.

Just hope that the owners prove more patient than us fans have recently!

Sometimes to build something up, you have to take it back to the foundations first, strip out the bits that don't work and replace them with new!
I think we'll see Liverpool slowly evolve and improve over a couple of seasons and then really be up there fighting for major trophies.

El Diablo!

Rodgers was and will stay top top of the list i dont want

ED001, if you are around, I just read a post in which you replied about Arsenal's academy being not as great as the media was making them to be. In your opinion, which academies are the best in the country and where do we rank among them?

I just feel we have made massive steps forward and improved dramatically once Rafa put everything in place. Since then Rodolfo and whoever is the scouting team behind the scenes, finding all these talented youngsters have been fantastic and we seem to be reaping the rewards for the work done behind the scene, although these youngsters wouldn't have probably got a chance if our First Team scouts, negotiators etc. would have been as good as our youth setup ones.

The real AG {Ed001's Note - now we are amongst the top academies, thanks to Rafa and the people he brought in. Along with Spurs, City, Southampton and you have to include Crewe as well, due to the fact that they are only getting the kids that haven't been good enough to get a Prem academy deal. Everton have an excellent academy as well. It is a very difficult area to judge as clubs like ourselves and Arsenal, for instance, tend to be able to cherry pick the best talents. Villa have a very good academy, as do Birmingham, obviously Man Utd and West Ham are up there too. The way I look at it is this, how much improvement do the players make while they are at the academy. Arsenal tend to bring in very technically adept players to start with, whereas Crewe have lesser talents but they improve their technique no end.}

Thanks for the reply Ed001. Much appreciated.

the real AG {Ed001's Note - you're welcome mate.}

i've heard the Huntelaar is now staying with Shalke and will sign new deal

That will change about 10 times between now and Jan..

We wont sign him anyway, too old! We will end up with 2 or 3 youngsters at best in Jan. No star names. Thats my feeling.

Walcott will sign a new deal with Arsenal and Sturridge as too much attitude.

Good luck liverpool.

Anzhi 1-2 Liverpool

Wisdom from a corner, then Zhirkov, Shelvey to steal late on with a belter!

YNWA! (Adam)

I might have a flutter with 1-1 MIKEY. Bousouffa and Suso to score i think.

Apples ;96;

I cant us winning tonight and if i didnt support Liverpool then i would be backing Anzhi and getting the Christmas money in. Hope im wrong tho.

Nice one apples but I won't be refunding any losing bets lol

I do support Liverpool and have done so since 1962 , I have got £25 on Anzhi at 11/10 .

hey lfc fans..

it will be good to see if henderson and some others to try and make a name for themselves and show they deserve the prestige of wearing the lfc shirt..

also..............my spanish friend said something about liverpool which at the moment...........is right..

he said liverpool play like barcelona when they are off form............pass the ball well.....but have only 1 way of playing, no plan B.......and lack of goals compared to chances created!

your thoughts guys?

red lobster

A poor mans barca?
He's probably right. But it's still not bad seeing as though we have only been playing this way since the summer.
Give us a couple of years and a big slice of luck and we will be smashing the barcas and madrids again.

haha

Barcelona

tickled me that one, cuckoo cuckoo

Barcelona have been building towards their current state for decades, we have been a few months. While there is certainly similarities in style, we are obviously a way off yet and I am not sure that will are attempting to exactlt mirror them but rather take heavy influence.

I can confirm that we are looking for wingers who can score goals... Not out an out Striker, which would mean Suarez to play from the wings... LFC Staff believes that if Suarez is played out wide day in day out, then it wont be long before he leaves... YNWA... goala

If he doesnt want to do a job for the club thats asked of him sell him hes a bad egg anyway

08 Nov 2012 11:31:25
I may get slaughtered for saying this. But if we did get the chance to sign torres back I would if i was LFC. Here are my reasons why. 1) Unfortunately we are not going to be able to attract the players that we once could. Its a shame but it is true. 2) Gerrard and torres when they were playing together we sometimes unplayable. We have never got as near to winning a title as we did under rafa with them to playing together.

3) - This looks a good attacking line up

Reina
Johnson Agger Skrtel Enrique
Lucas
Allen Gerrard
Suarez Sterling
Torres

Subs : Jones, Wisdom, Coates, Shelvey, Suso, Borini, Sahin

Torres unfortunately for him but if chelsea wanted rid to get falcao would not be wanted by many top clubs that have champions league football.

Not saying he would be my first choice to return and go upfront just saying if it could happen I don't think it would be a terrible idea.

So basically you would like a player who struggles to score goals playing with Oscar, Hazard and Mata, and has completely lost the pace he had. Coupled with the fact that his wages are massive = one thing. You cant get over him. Take a break from posting fella.

Simon M

Torres is not the player he once was, injuries have not only affected his pace but also his confidence and natural goal scoring ability. Have you watched him over the last couple of seasons? His first touch often lets him down and he looks lost. Sure he scores the odd goal but overall he is not up to Liverpool standard anymore. Personally I dont think BR would give him a second thought. We need a forward who is good on the ball, intelligent and above all have the ability to be a consistent goal scorer......YNWA

We'll see this Sunday -

When Torres was with AM he was never really a prolific goalscorer (a lot of his goals were penalties too).
When he arrived at LFC the team was built around a Torres type of striker. He was being supplied world class service from Gerrard and Alonso. He was the focal point of the whole attack and 9 out of 10 chances seem to go through him. he was confident and clinical.
It is fair to say that neither he nor Gerrard have been the same player since Alonso left.
I don't if his problem now is psychological, confidence or a loss of something he had due to the injuries. It might also just be that Chelsea does not currently suit his style of play.

Few harsh comments there i think at the right price and IF the system suited him we should look at him but will Chelski lose 30m on him its unlikely....

Torres hardly ever took a pen for Atletico Madrid.

Be happy with the 50 mil and leave it at that.

Read a post yesterday from osgoodisking with regards to Brendan Rodgers. I have a little story to share that I think sums up BR.
A family friends' father turned 85 last year and has been a lifelong Swansea fan and has been a season ticket holder for god knows how long. For his 85th birthday my friend wrote a letter to Swansea city explaining this in the hope that they would give his father a shout out at half time, but nothing came of it. About 3 months later my mate had a phone call off Brendan Rodgers, explaining that he was back home in N.Ireland going through some letters that had been delivered to his office, and that my mates letter had somehow found its way out there. He apologised for the late reply but that he was only then reading this letter. Rodgers arranged with my friend for him to bring his Father upto to the Glamorgan health and racquet club (where Swansea train) after a training session to meet the players then have a bit of grub in the bar with BR. My mate took his old man and all his memorabillia from over the years and he said BR spent nearly 3hrs after training sitting down with his Father just talking football and going through all his old mans stuff.

This was no publicity stunt, there was no mention of this in any newspaper or in any matchday program. BR did this off his own back because (IMO) he is a genuinely nice and down to earth guy who knows what a privilliged position hes in.

Tommy Walsh {Ed002's Note - A good story - and you are right that Rodgers is a genuinely nice guy. Certainly he was very well liked by everyone, particularly the younger players, at Chelsea.}

08 Nov 2012 13:03:57
This is a great story mate and I could not imagine many other top-flight managers doing this without a photographer or journalist sneaking about somewhere, except for BR.

Jolly Red {Ed002's Note - I am sorry, but that is extremely unfair on the other managers.}

08 Nov 2012 14:07:15
I did say MANY other, I don't think Ferguson would do this on a one to one meeting and I think it would some how come out in the press. Sorry, just my opinion. A lot of the managers are good guys, but things like this would come out.

Jolly Red

I enjoyed reading this post. It is good to discover that he has a very human side to him.

Red Owl

Top post man,and a bit of a rare instght into the workings of our new gaffer, and how he perceives people and values them at the same time, ill bet the old geezer was buzzing, defo put a smile on my face,i for one really hope it all works out for our buck and off the back of this little insight as they say on MOTD with aplomb.

I read the post by osgoodisking, found it interesting I personally like Rodgers & he was the man I wanted as manager it was an interview on 5 live in which he came across really well & spoke candidly about his parents death his time at reading in which he made no excuses about his time there & remained humble when being praised, but as in football as in life you are not going to be liked by everyone (success tends to sway opinion though) want Brendan & the boys to grow & learn together, after all that is the Liverpool way......
Paisley's genius

Great story and wwe should count ourselves lucky we have a manger with so much integrety (spelling ) , plus BR said when he took over that some fans wont like him , up to now he's got everything right

I would just like to say concrats to celtic there fan s were brill last night they do r song great justice. if utd had have beat barca last night all we would hear is how utd are going to win the trophy at wembey and all that bull i think utd are going to go out of that comp in style when a good team gets ripped into that evans evra and the rest of that overrated defence van persie is class but he will not be able to pull them outa a whole all the time.fergie says he wants to get as many european cups as liverpool we really are his benchmark cant see that happening please god its all we have only for the billionaires they would be outa sight with titles because we dont look like adding to ours unless their is some investment in the first team soon not for the future, now players that are ready to make a diifference especially the last third of the pitch.Tommy Irish Red

We will do well to get a point in Russia.
Morgan, Yesil and Pacheco won't have a chance to shine.
It'll be backs-against-the-wall stuff!
Hope Cole doesn't play but I think he will (what a waste ?!)
Our only hope is to give Ngoo, Texeira,Coates,Assaidi, Sama, Wisdom, Shelvey,Coady,Robinson and Flannagan a chance.
It'll be boys versus men away from home !

On more than one occasion boys have beaten men...BUT these days when MEN beat BOYS the police get involved

Do you mean that the players beat the boys as well, you Foxy thing!

Despite some of the doom and gloom merchants on here there are plenty of positives for LFC from this season already. BR is stamping his way of play on the first team. It is of course not yet perfect and some of the players he has inherited are not up to the task, but we can see the change in style and with the exception of West Brom and Arsenal games (yes Swansea in the cup too but that was mainly our second string) we have dominated every team we have played against. Whilst we lack a couple of clinical offensive players, (this is obvious to all) its only a matter of time before this is rectified. In the meantime BR has the cojones to continue blooding youngsters by the bucket load. Some may sink but others will soar like Sterling and we will reap our rewards in 18-24 months time. By all accounts we have a tidal wave of very talented youngsters, anyone who follows our under 21s and under 18s can see this. With a couple of key additions (a clinical scorer for one) we will be able to finish of teams far better. BTW I don't see Dempsey pulling up any trees for the spuds at the moment, nor Carroll for that matter who is playing for a team who supposedly suits his lump it style of play !! Reality Red

Don't knock things fella, they have a way of turning around and batting you on the butt! Like our under 21's spurs are top of their group, they got booted out of last years nxt gen for fielding under aged players after beating us! They hammered barcelona in spain last night 4-1...I've checked other teams as well and some have some exceptional players.. I used spurs as an example. As I know people within the club!

Hi Eds

Maybe you can answer this question:

What is the situation of Pacheco? He is playing very well for the reserves and played well for the First team when he got his chances.

But still he is not near the first team. Same happend with him with Hodgson, Dalgslish.

Is he on the way out? are there any Issues with him?

He is a great talent but i feel that something is wrong. {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Your last sentence caps it.....he's in the same mould as Tom ince.
He was loaned to a struggling Norwich and largely failed. He'll be a £2m sale to add to our coffers.
He has issues but some talent.

Is it just me, or didn't Norwich fans love Pacheco for helping get their club promoted?

I see that the Sochaux sub Yaya Banana slipped on for Ryad Boudebouz last night against Evian , we have been linked with both players in the recent past but Banana seems a little firmer at the moment .

The rumour about Banana is a bit ripe.

Banana is a tasty player

His sister Ava is even tastier!

please stop with the huntelaar rumours. We are not going to spend on a 29 year old. Source: John Henry explaining why we didn't buy Dempsey. Don't get your hopes up, Liverpool will buy another kid and we will (hopefully) be competitive after 2-4 years.

I read somewhere that Gerrard scored 1 goal in his first two years, so what do you expect from Sterling/Suso etc?

We did try to get dempsey.

Ye because is worked out so terrible for man u

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you will find he is lying, we did try to get Dempsey but Henderson was part of deal and refused to go. off topic Henderson reminds me of a Thunderbirds puppet

Ok we did try to get Dempsey but wanted to pay peanuts. Maybe we'll offer 2 million for Huntelaar instead of 9 million. Either way, he's not coming

Why did we not sign Victor Moses? He shd have been playing every minute for us, and for £9m I think he's a wonderful player to have.

Benitez had him for only 1 million, but u know who were the owners. {Ed002's Note - I understand that in 1987 there was a transfer of a player that Liverpool did not miss out on. I find it hard to believe myself.}

in the liverpool u21 game against wolves Pacheco, Ngoo, Pelosi & Teixeira were great to watch in the second half.

I can actually see why at sporting why Joao was likened to Deco.

he gave good clean penetrating passes, looked lively and positive when in possession and had good movement off the ball.

Pelosi played soo good that no one Evan mentioned him. he his broken down play, passed it early both short and long, i don't think he gave the ball away once. it was good to see him play in his natural position in Left Mid next to a holding mid.

and concerning ngoo and pacheco i won't go into it other than ngoo should have made at least a cameo by now.

the guy is not only a beast with a playing style of lacina traore he also loves the club (class act)

I agree but would like to see alot more movement off the ball from pelosi.

Huntelaar
Walcott
Pato
Llorente
Torres
Drogba

Give it a rest lads, not one of these players would leave their current club to join LFC. We don't have champions league and we don't have the ambition to get into the champions league.

We will have to make do with potentials (like Borini) or journeymen (joe cole).

Don't get too excited, our Jamuary signings will not be first team material.

Im pretty sure walcott and huntelaar would consider us. Stop being so negative.
Indian Buzzer

If only they could see that we create more chances than most and only need someone of that ilk to get us in or around champions league. not 100% on this but i think last season we had the 3rd best defense as well as leading the league for most chances created. those two statistics do not imply we are a mid table team rather that we need someone to finish off these chances. i think huntelaars a possibility because A) he has said he would like to test himself in england and B) if he were to move anywhere in jan he would be cup tied anyway.
walcotts as worried about being played in his favoured central position as he is playing champions league football or it seems that way anyway and i would say theyre the only 2 really available in january on your list anyway
NZL_red

God, aren't you a gem to be around?

08 Nov 2012 08:28:13
Does that Chinese club Drogba went to have champions league? Did we have champions league when sahin signed albeit on loan...

I really doubt Rodgers would say that we are looking to spend and bring in new players in jan to th press and not fulfil that considering what happened in the summer

If our January signings are not first team material we will be playing Tranmere in a League derby next season .........

Hey waro i saw your team for tomorrow on a different page just came to check if your sure Flanagan will play LB and whether BR plays Coady and Morgan (no disrespect just think BR would choose a diff line-up), personally i'd love to see Yesil and Pacheco feature tomorrow, much appreciated.
