Anyone who wants Rodgers out hasn't a clue about football.
All you have to do is watch Rodgers' interviews and then you realise that we have the man to take us back to where we belong.
I can't even remember in the past when we had such a class manager....and for those of you that say it.....Rafa isn't even fit enough to tie Rodger's shoe laces.
RedRocket

To undermine Rafa like that is terrible. Rafa is an amazing analyst as well as a strategist. He knows how to get goals and he knows how to win games. Rodgers will one day surpass him because Rodgers has, in my opinion, a better way of playing football as well as a great understanding of the youth system.

There is no denying Rafa's ability to coach and by saying otherwise is an incorrect remark, even if it is just an opinion.

BthekingB

In my opinion and it is my and the shafmeisters opinion + lots of books articles etc lfc had the perfect manager 5 years ago silva 12m etc etc etc etc etc RB WAS THE BEST THING WE EVER HAD one season and and a strawberrry nose rant and we lost faith fact please please please explain why the best manager ever is not our manager now {Ed001's Note - because he nearly destroyed the club handing out ridiculous contracts to players who simply weren't good enough, such as Voronin.}

Totally agree with your post mate, only thing i'm worried about is if the owners don't give him the time he needs, because I think we all know we're not gonna have a great season, so I think we will see how passionate the owners are. Rodgers definatley is the man to take us forward. Also think not getting a striker could be a god send, cos we now have to use the younger players, i.e Suso, Adam morgan. Seen them play a lot both worth a go.

Sooty

I am a Utd supporter raga was the best manager Utd never had we loved him as Liverpool manager

All you fans wish he was back funny enough so do we

Pardoe

I know he bought some rubbish players but he got us to two champions league finals in 3 years

I have to laugh at you sometimes Ed001.

"He nearly destryed our club by signing players like Voronin".

Pathetic and ridiculous opinion of the man who last brought back some glory.

A) If anyone at that time had destroyed our club when he was in charge it'd have been H&G!!

B) You Rafa haters always overlook the talent he brought in and how he transformed the youth set-up.

People seem to despise him because of the Alonso saga. Well um, he wasn't irreplacable like some persons believe. He's not the only player in the world who can pass a ball, geez.

I bet the people who wanted Rafa out are the exact same fans who spout "Get behind the manager", when some fans are dissatisfied, and completely abuse those fans...fair enough get behind the manager I say, but don't be sad hypocrites.

I agree with BthekingB.

StrabaneRed {Ed001's Note - you have no idea, the reason the club nearly went under was because of the huge wage bill. The pathetic and ridiculous opinion, well that is your ignorant one, devoid of any idea regarding the finances of the club. Idiotic to think I hate the man, I actually like him, but he very nearly destroyed our club, H&G's issue was not having the funds to cope with his ridiculous demands. Thanks to idiotic and pathetic worshippers of the Rafa cult, they were in no position to do anything but back him. Yes Rafa did rebuild the youth system, something we should be grateful to him for, but he made a mess of the first team at the same time. It is because of pathetic and ridiculous opinions like yours that our club nearly vanished. I am tired of people like you, no perspective, no knowledge, no financial acumen or intelligence to understand when you are completely and utterly wrong. Amazing how you can't have the perspective and intelligence to see Rafa's faults, as well as his good points.}

He may be a bitter and come to the ring to that bloody tune but well done tony bellew. Top fighter, top bloke
Tommy.

08 Sep 2012 21:54:34
You mean Daniel Levy Levy who appointed managerial greats such as Santaini, Ramos, Redknapp and now AVB. He's one bloke we really don't need. Get off the bandwagon you've just jumped on for the sake of it.
And Blair your talking completely out of your hole as usual. Why you think your the ultimate authority on all things Liverpool is beyond me, you change your mind about most things on a whim.

I am the chosen one mate. You are now one of my disciples. Enjoy your bread and wine and clean your plate when you've finished.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair u r talking a load of crap, or is it tony Blair, moss side

Jc your on drugs fella, on paper getting santini & ramos was genius, yea they didn't work out! but what levy did was only in totenhams best interest, if one day he falls on his sword he will go out knowing he tried to move them forward! hes probably the best chairman in the league!

Great to speak with you again Ed001 mate, how have you been?

I'm not doubting FSG's commitment or great work they have done on stabilizing the club. They should just let Brendan pick the players we need not them. Don't want to see a repeat of Rafa vs H&G. I know FSG are not nowhere near as useless as H&G (who is). But yet again we are talking about our manager and owners at loggerheads over players. When this season was meant to be a fresh start.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - no, an owner should be responsible for setting limits on spending. Every manager always wants to spend more and more money, that is why clubs get into trouble. A manager shouldn't be expected to decide how money is spent, they will always go for a short term fix, their job is at stake otherwise.}

Good retort Ed spot on no matter what club

Just spoke to a neighbour of mine who does security work on behalf of Liverpool FC and he just told me Heskey is signing on a 3 month rolling contract. Don't know how true this is and I hope to god its not true but he had no reason to lie.

Lpoolbornnbred {Ed002's Note - There is no such thing as a "three month rolling contract".}

If there was ever a striker who didn't fit Brendon's philosophy you've named him as a target!

Ed002- with all the hype surrounding Yesil, and by what i've seen and read so far rightly so. How come ex German side sold him to us for just a mil? {Ed002's Note - He is still young and unproven at the highest level - but much is expected.}

Give him a chance he just got HERE come on

Hey everyone ,
let us all stand and give a huge round of applause to the Eds for putting up with our s**t
From those telling us how fsg should run the club , to the ones who give u a breakdown of the clubs income . Lol , i just cant believe it, ud swear some of these people run multimillion cooperations or something.
And please folks , give it up with the whole fsg thing.
The rest of love our club and know its not a good time, but like every good business , there are ups and downs.
How does that song go ? '' the wheels of the bus go round and round, all the way to town.''

thru good times and bad, we will survive .
Lfc till the end.

Waste of time mate, most of the people on here are only happy when they are moaning. Most probably want us to lose games just so they can say 'I told you so'

^ Statement with no irony at all ^

Summary of posts today

wahhh wahhh FSG Out, wahhh, why wont they give us £200 million to spend wahh, why don't FSG build a new stadium right now wahhhh, BR Out wahhh, BR is clueless wahhh we are going to be relegated wahhh wahhh

Anfield Arnie!

Thanks you jut saved me about half an hour

All we need is £20m to spend in January to buy two attacking players and if Downing has to be sold then so be it.

downing 10-12m
adam £4m, carroll, spearing £2.5m (lean fee's)
= £16m - £18m

Michel Bastos £7m, 29 but he could play at a top level until he is 33. and at 32+ he'd be like having Aurelio in the team without the injury problems.

Kevin Gameiro £11m - £14m, only 25 not playing at PSG since their two new arrivals Lavezzi and Ibra.

our outfield would be gaining depth.

3, Strikers; Suarez, Gameiro, Borini

3, Wingers; Bastos, Sterling, Assaidi

6, Midfielders; Gerrard, Allen, Lucas, Sahin, Shelvey, Henderson. (next summer when Sahin goes back to Madrid we can then fully promote Suso to the first team)

3, Fullbacks; Johnson, Enrique, Kelly

4, Center Backs; Agger, Skrtel, Coates, Carragher.

Gameiro is crap and Bastos is too old.

No thanks

BthekingB

And the rest of the posts...Who cares if we need 2 strikers? Who cares if FSG become the next Hicks and Gillett.....Why don't you support City if you CARE so much about success?

See how I can spin things too?

Well I do care about the running of our club and it's stature...To you and some others it comes across as "moaning".

I think i'll write a song some day called "Don't you see that we care".

Blair firstly mate I think we are in good hands with FSG. What I couldn't understand about the last day of the window, was ok we didn't agree a fee for Dempsey but where was our back up plans. I find it hard to understand that we put all our eggs in one basket.

Surely there was other targets out there that was achievable. Saying that I think we after start bringing our own players through. It's the only way we will get back up to the top.

Mighty reds

Brendan wanted Dempsey, FSG didn't. Not a good sign. Brendan fought for no DOF while he was manager, they didn't appoint one. They just made themselves DOF instead and know nothing about football.

You've got to feel sorry for Brendan...

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

The reason there wasn't a back-up plan is related to the arrogance that has smothered our club for decades.

DaveyBootle

At the end of the day Blair, they're businessmen. So, after the awful spending we had last summer and previous, would they really want to spend £6m+wages for a player that will have absolutely no resale value when his Liverpool career ends?

They've made it pretty clear, that if a young exciting player is made available, then they'll be willing to spend what is necessary. I'd rather see us miss out on a Clint Dempsey than say, a Joe Allen.

Stone YNWA.

I did hear from a woman that work with my mum, that their husband works at kirkby and he heard that BR was assured that a deal would be done for a striker so he left it to them and after finding out they didnt, went raving mad to ian ayre + fsg. mr henry then wrote his letter to say sorry and will now leave deals to BR at all costs!
looks like fsg need to show a little faith in BR too!
no new boys till january, fact!, depending on how the younger lads play, we will get 1 or 2 attacking players.
yesil to play and do well, hopefully, and just a thought, how many bad german strikers do you really know?
RED L4

Don't you see the bigger picture Stone mate? Rodgers is supposed to chose the players he wants not the owners. Would you really trust FSG to scout and buy players for our squad?

The most important part of us missing out on Dempsey was not the cost. It was our owners reluctance to have faith in Rodgers judgement.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Well said Blair.
Its a real 'smack in the face' for BR.
Why go through a long/protracted recruitment process, eventually proclaim to the world that you have the right manager for LFC, and then not support him in the transfer market.
Are FSG just daft!
Their decision making process is flawed, and the lame arse media release by JH is just pathetic.
BR can not be a very happy man at present (he must be wondering if there is real sincerity in what FSG say and do).
FSG just don't have a clue about football.
Cabernet.

They told him we'd buy Dempsey for X price. That deal wasn't gonna go through. It's their money, their club, get over it.

McSnuggles

Re sale value will only matter to the creditors if we go under as a club , which could happen due to having a poor team on the pitch , poor results lack of interest from future fans etc as we are still enjoying the fans who have followed us for years , fsg are making us unattractive and new fans from abroad are attracted to teams with top players thats why when we had torres he along with stevie gee had more shirts sold with their names on than all of the others in the prem', moral is fans are attracted to teams with stars (we did not even win any thing with torres but we were very very good).red mick tag

08 Sep 2012 20:11:20
Now, I might be wrong Blair, but BR strikes me as a manager who knows what he wants. The sigi saga showed that he knows the value of the targets he was after. The last day fiasco was just that - a fiasco. But DC did an awful lot of damage the year before splurging LFC cash on players. It seems to me that both BR, AND FSG didnt want to get bitten again. The outcome ended up a little bit of a miscalculation, but let me put this another way:

Google : 'Derek llambias Andy Carroll'.

Under the watch of DC we got taken for mugs. That was FSG's money he sp***ed up the wall. Can't really blame them, or BR for being cautious.....

Bigbadben

DC was a train wreck, Ben mate. But yet another mistake by FSG, they appointed him. FSG told Brendan he can let go of Carroll because he would be able to sign a replacement. Rodgers let Carroll go and FSG shafted him, simples.

Brendan said if he thought he wasn't getting another striker. He would not have let Carroll leave.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Yeah but let's be honest we can't say we are going to miss Carroll.

Mighty reds

Well something is better than nothing.

hey ed's everyone knows we need quality in front of goal then still why didnt we go behind likes of jovetic, de jong etc even though they were feasible options. Also how viable option is samed yesil this season in front of goal in attack, he proved good playing against england u19's
great work ed's...... wish u can fill this notion in reds management
Lykonred {Ed002's Note - Jovetic was never an option. Much is expected of Yesil.}

Successful business people take risks. Sometimes, in fact often, they mess up. The most important thing is to keep taking risks. I believe BR is a big gamble but my instinct tells me in spite of all that had happened good things will come.

08 Sep 2012 19:42:33
does anyone know if we are going to sign a striker that has been released?

We will not.

08 Sep 2012 18:28:17
brendan rodgers needs to bring in a free tranfer or really think about calling up micheal ngoo , suso, jordn ibe , dani pacheco

Where 3 games in but already we know where not gonna finnish in the top 4 an probably not even gonna win a trophy he as sold countless players to cut the wage bill to the point that the squad is so thin it scares me he asnt been backed by the latest american clowns and all you get out of them is where still paying the price of previous owners if they where so bad how comes we have so many promising kids do we see Man Utd ducking out of a transfer for the sake of a couple of million quid these owners are not good enough for liverpool an rodgers is like hodgson out of his depth i wonder if people will be shouting patience if where in this position at xmas

Jordan ibe isn't ready nacho is more ready than ibe.

Too true mate

But its the emperor's new clothes

Nobody cvan see rodgers for the a** Kni**er he is

The sheer number of grammatical errors in this post is only just surpassed by the illogicality of it. American clowns? Comparing our financial position to ManU? You have no idea what you are talking about.

Sadly we can't compare ourselves to Man U in any shape or form presently.
The Glazers let SAF get on with the business, not throw a damn 'hissy fit' over £1m.

Anyone seen redmen tv interview brendan rodgers?
Absolutely brilliant the guy knows what hes talkin about and he will bring glory back to anfield but patiences is needed for the liverpool faithful .

It's awesome viewing, I referred to it in a reply to Pete in the post below yours. I think all the doubters should watch it and I mean watch it and listen. The man if given time will be a future legend at this club. His views are inspiring, I could've listened to him for hours. "Death by fooball" I love it, YNWA Simonpw

Why not reserve your judgement until you actually see some progress on the pitch, insted of drooling over a man who is 3 competitive games into his tenure. It's little wonder that opposing fans now see us as delusional when you read comments like the ones above.

Waro

Waro, did you watch it? I've just watched it and was impressed with what I saw. Of course, time will tell. But, as you said, the guy is 3 games in. It's a heck of lot better that we have fans with a positive outlook than those who are calling for BR and FSGs heads.

I was impressed with BRs talk about Lucas and keeping him involved on the technical aspects whilst injured. BR has identified Lucas' strong points and is using the time whilst he recuperates as an opportunity to strengthen these.

It was interesting to hear from a technical perspective why we struggled against Arsenal. How Lucas will control the other 2 in the midfield and how Allen has taken that role whilst Lucas regains fitness because he understands the way that BR wants the controlling midfielder to play.

I'm not drooling. I just found the interview interesting and explains a lot of what's going on. Unless of course, BR is full of ****. As I said, it will be time that tells and not some of the muppets on here calling for heads.

MacRed

MacRed, I have watched it. Let's just say he talks a good game, I will reserve my judgement until the end of the season. Hopefully he comes good, he seems a genuine fella, actions speak louder than words is what I was getting at. A dose of reality is what some fans on here need, there heads are full of magic! Wait see then comment!

hey lfc fans...............

every week...........rodgers gives so much praise towards allen to the media.........
thats all he does...... allen is this allen is that

maybe he should try sharing that around

pete

He praises all players that deserve praise

Did it.........take you a while to .......come up with that......?

Bigbadben

Allen is ace!

Pete, has anybody ever told you, ...your a complete tool?

Stevie.

Whooo stand down private, put you hand bag away, Mr Cole you should have gone to West Ham when you had the chance.

Evered

Joe Allen is the type of player that BR loves, hard working with and without the ball but also technically gifted. As he rightly said you would think he has been a liverpool player for years. JA knows the system and right now he is playing him out of position because of Lucas' injury. He praises him because every journo asks about him and why he has settled so quickly. I would advise every fan to watch his meeting with the liverpool fans. I think they have a video of it on Redman tv. It gives a fantastic insight in to the man and his way of working.Even his description of the Arsenal game and esp Diaby and how we lost the midfield battle is completely honest. Anyone who doesn't believe he is the man to bring us forward after watching it needs therapy lol. When he gets the message across to the players it will be a sight to behold. JA already knows this, already plays this way and it is what BR wants the rest of the squad to aspire to. As far as I can see BR says it as it is and I can't help but be impressed. Im sure I remeber recently BR complimenting JC, RS,LS and SG in the press to name a few or do they not count Simonpw

Managers always talk up their own signings.

Hi eds - how comes Stoke are putting up to 6 players on loan now they have owen,i thought window was closed including loan players and clubs had to register all players last week ,please explain for confused fan - ST JOHN 64- {Ed002's Note - Players can still be loaned to lower dividion sides.}

Owen signs and six players need loaning, he will be injured in a fortnight and miss six weeks. What wages has he commanded?

08 Sep 2012 17:05:25
hi everyone, i didnt catch the germany under 21 game yesterday but heard rave reviews about our new german signing, could any one give me an update on how he played, how he looked, and would he add anything to the first team?

cheers

john

Yesil scored 2 and assisted 1, has good pace, seems a clever player who always finds space, has some trickery, a good finish and can cvreate aswell, could be a cracking player.

Lil Red

Cheers mate, would you put him in the first team? if for, who for?

john

I would personally rotate him with borini upfront to see who is more effective, but I would love to see sterling, him, luis and suso destroying teams together, I think rodgers will introduce him in slowly though.

Lil Red

It maybe a bit early but if needs must then I would pick him or Morgan instead of borini as I fill we need a good finisher down the middle of the field and even though our number 7 is a world class player his not the greatest of finishers if he was to play out on the right I fill he would cause more damage plus we could play one of the two younger strikers involved in the game your talking about
Mark the Red

I love how you're all crying out for Morgan and Yesil over Borini when neither have any experience in the EPL. Yes Borini's experience may be limited but at least he's got some. He's a very talented and committed player and hasn't even been played in the number 9 role yet, Suarez has. Give him time before writing him off.

Papa G

Papa G

Not writing borini off but I have watched yesil in the u17's and U19's and he's looked a talent, I think he works hard like borini as well.

Lil Red

Ed063's Note - Erm....how was it disgraceful? It was all class and showed that the owners are here for the long term, not just looking to make a quick buck. And I certainly wouldn't have blamed them had they decided to sell considering they were getting death threats from fans. I really have no clue what you mean by 'disgraceful' I'm afraid}
--------------------------------------
I'm sorry Ed063 but I don't think that we read the same 'open letter' from FSG. How can you say the letter was 'class' when it is trying to justify why the owners undermined Rodgers, by not buying Dempsey? They had Dempsey as an LFC player on their official website. Then decided to not to fork out the extra couple of mill. For a player Rodgers wanted but they disrespected + made a complete fool out of him by not giving BR the extra cash to buy him.

They haven't got a clue what they are doing. So why not let someone who does know what he's doing (BR) get on with it? What will happen when BR wants costlier players? Will they overrule him again? Or just sack him because he will not be a lackey?

Don't like/agree with the way FSG have run our club so far. They have shown no leadership whatsoever. And if they keep leaving club matters to Ian Ayre to deal with, then we are f*cked. And will be a laughing stock, for years to come.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

AGree with you Mate..

Thank God , At Last some sensible LFC fans are realizing what I have been telling on here with regards to FSG all this time.

So far the things they have done wrong is way more than the things they have done good.

Was worried about FSG , and will continue to do so... Their management of the club is indeed very very questionable.

After Hicks & Gillete the last thing I expected was to see another Yonks taking over the club.

Bosco

FSG must prove their vision for Liverpool is the right way rather than the cheap way.

Also Kenny Dalglish I believe has put the club in a mess as he left...no offense to the great man, what is true will be true.

Bosco

If u buy a huge piece of land, filled with teared down houses and burned buildings, u have to clean up before u can build something new... makes any sence?

Dont agree with the comment " they have done wrong more than right " was it not FSG who saved our football club and then pumped £100m back into the team shortly after taking over . Was it their fault that who we purchased last summer was not up to the standard of LFC ? And then pumped another £20m odd into the team this summer . Honestly trying to blame FSG is beyond belief . If we went back too the H+G era we would have no team to support . Just get behind the team people and all will come good .

Cheers

Jamesy

I agree with ed 063 on this 1. The owners have made mistakes, so what haven't we all. At least they have the balls to admit it. I guarantee they won't make the same ones again. They've said it's for the long haul and I believe it. BR will get it right, he knows it, they know it and guess what so do I. The only reason either he or they wouldn't is because of muppets like you sticking the knife in with your rude and obnoxious name calling. They are not yonks they are american and common courtesy costs nothing. What other reputable owners would even consider buying this club considering the constant abuse these present ones are getting. If you Blair and Bosco join together with all the rest of back biters buy the club yourselves and show us all how to run it. I for one would rather keep the present regime. Get a grip and grow up, Simonpw

When u clearly don't understand what u are doing then it's true you make so many mistake. The big Mistake FSG done is not appoint a football related CEO who is a high profile person and can add good link to the club. there are news Crueff coming then Tixi and its end with no one . and thats the reason tarnsfer mix up and gap between dierector and Coach . {Ed002's Note - Neither Begiristain nor Cruyff would have been a CEO.}

No manager at any club should be undermined by their owners. Especially for a couple of mill. They should have known that Dempsey's shirt sales in the US would have covered the extra couple of mill. It will be a costly mistake both on the pitch and off it.

Lucky for them that Rodgers has enough class to publicity back them and ask the fans not to blame them. Or the flack and fans backlash they are receiving, could be a lot worse.

YNWA, Brendan Rodgers....

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Once bitten, twice shy. Simon mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I'm finding it hard to believe these are posts from Blair who always seemed more rational than this. Shirts sales in the US? Have we not done this topic to death? LFC get nothing from shirt sales.

In my opinion we should have made Brian Barwick our CEO, when we had the chance. Fits the profile of a CEO and understands our club because he's a massive LFC fan.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Good point unnamed poster. Still should have backed Rodgers with Dempsey 100% and with complete faith in his judgement. They have admitted to making mistakes but they didn't say or mean that not buying Dempsey, was one of them.

I found Henrys open letter/apology quite funny and comical.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Spot on Blair!.
Cabernet.

I must say that I'm surprised at Blair's
comments about the owners. Yes I think the Dempsey thing was handled badly, even appallingly in it's consequences for the player involved, but, as most people say, everyone makes mistakes. I will remain supportive of the owners until it is proven that they do not deserve my support.
Whilst I am on about the owners I must add that I am sick to death of the abuse they get which seems to be preceded by the description 'yonks'. So the nationality of our players doesn't matter but it does matter if the owners are not English/British? Or is it simply an anti-American thing?

Puzzled {Ed002's Note -

Ok Blair" once bittten twice shy". Just because H&G were american and screwed us over doesn't mean because FSG are american implies they will. That is the logic of a moron. They are a very successful, profitable organisation. Their open letter was not an apology, it was an open and frank assessment of where we are as a club and a business. They want us to be self sufficient and promote where possible from within to each level of the squad from youth up to 1st team. When we have to buy they would rather find the uncovered gems and polish them up than spend multi millions on the finished article who will only come for the money or for an already successful team. It's not rocket science, it's steady and sustainable progress to build a sound financial and competetive side not just for now but for the longterm future of the club. As a once famous ex red once said" you can't win anything with kids". Well why can't the next bunch of successful kids be ours for the next 20 years or more. You don't know what was said between BR,IA and JH about transfers or Clint Dempsey no more than I do and now the window is closed I really don't care either. I would rather promote from within and regardless who wears our jersey they will get my full support until the day they stop playing for us. I mite not like them all but I will still back them to the death because they play for liverpool. I certainly wouldn't insult them or anyone associated with the club. Critism is one thing but blindsided insults and hatred is juvenile to say the least. YNWA used to mean something," with 1000's of your family round about ye" as another famous red once said. Either you will be proved wrong or you will get your way and force our current owners and manager out and we will see where that gets us. I for one hope it's the former, Simonpw

Blair mate I'm just getting impatient about the stadium. Coz stadium is only the way we can move foward and compete in highest level

I'm not on the 'FSG OUT' bandwagon, Puzzled mate. They admitted themselves they have made 'mistakes'. They have been in charge for 2 years now but still continue to make 'mistakes'. It's not their commitment to the club I am questioning. It's their knowledge (or lack of) of football I am questioning.

Everyone knows I have been a firm supporter of FSG. But after sitting back and watching the soap opera that is LFC this summer. I feel I had to say what I feel is happening at our club.

Undermining a manager should never be accepted or tolerated at any club. Mancini it appears has more power at Man. City than Brendan has with us.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair, your absoloutely right, you can tell they havnt a clue about football. not all owners do know much but they at least have the common sense to appoint a ceo who knows how to run a footbal club. i have defended FSG since all the slating of them began, but the transfer was a step to far and they really need to get a good ceo in.
Look at daniel levy for example, im not suggesting we get him but he has spurs in great shape, on and off the pitch. thats the type of ceo we need in my opinion.

LFC-IRE

Brian reades article in todays mirror, qaulity.

Great post Simon mate but full of flaws. John Henry more or less admitted they pulled the plug on Dempsey. There will be no 'Short term fixes' in our strategy in going forward in the transfer market. Who do you think they were talking about? They have got a long term strategy but want to get into the CL asap or Brendan will probably get the boot.

So many contradictions in your post. You'd think you were FSG's new public relations director.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. Tom Werner 'We have the resources to compete with anyone'. But Dempsey was to expensive it appears. {Ed001's Note - Blair I thought you had more sense than to follow those imbeciles in SOS! FSG have always said the club would spend what it makes, that is how it should be. Pulling the plug on Dempsey was an error, but I would rather they erred on the side of caution as far as spending money goes.}

J.C

Are you talking about Levy that sacked there best manager for a really poor manager.

Mighty reds

I'm worried Ed. If they pulled the plug on Dempsey who wouldn't have cost much and would have been a good buy. Will they do it again? I think they will and we could end up losing BR and struggle to attract other good managers who will work under their conditions/restraints.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - no need to be worried, they set a limit and that was it. All owners do the same, unless they are the likes of Peter Ridsdale. I wish we had bought Dempsey, I think it was a mistake not to, but I am not going to worry because they think otherwise. At least they are being responsible and safeguarding the club's future.}

'i felt i had to say what I feel is happening at our club'

This is so pathetic. This is a FAN SITE LOL. Acting like you're making a direct complaint to the club

Well H&G must be having one mighty good laugh at the goings on at LFC and the conduct of FSG.

Owner's can't undermine an employee. Owner's outrank their employees much like a general outranks their soldiers.

Wrote this the other day, just made me think It would be great to hear from the Eds and other fellow reds on their best LFC memories?

Siting despondent after the Arsenal game telling myself I'm going to give watching Liverpool a miss for a few months (as i usually do after they lose), it got me thinking why I am so obsessed with the reds, then i realised the majority of my life has been centered on the great club and my head is filled with so many memories. So below I wrote down a few of my most memorable,

Being a Liverpool fan IS

Standing outside the rediffusion shop on a cold Saturday afternoon nervously waiting for the score.
Running down my friends house with tears in my eyes after losing to Utd in 77 (devastated).
Terry Mcdermott's chip against Everton (pure genius)
Waiting for the next edition of "Goal and Shoot" to tear out the pictures to put on the wall.
Filling my bedroom wall with pictures of Dalglish, Hansen, Mcdermott, Ray Kennedy and Souness (Class)
Trying to phone Bob Paisley from my local phone box to congratulate him after winning the European cup in 77 at the age of 7.
My mam buying me "Stylo" boots worn buy Steve Highway.
Crying when Kevin Keegan left for Hamburg, even had the singles he sung on "oh Liverpool lou la", "yea we can do it". wondering who this Scottish guy Kenny Dalglish was, remember saying he will never be better than Keegan! Oh how wrong I was.
Writing to "Jim'll fix it" asking to play a game against Liverpool at Anfield (Really thought he would reply, was gutted).
Liverpool beating Spurs 7.0 Terry Macs goal, what a side.
In the Kop for the first time as a kid, the stand being so full i could pick my legs up and be held up by the people next to me, every time the ball went towards the net it was like being in a sea of people moving up, down and around the terraces, my old man was worried sick about me, but I loved every minute of it, it was so exciting.
Listening on my transistor radio on a cold December night listening to John Motson commentate on Liverpool and some obscure Russian team (so exciting).
Dreaming the night before that King Kenny would score in the European final, and he did (my hero).
Rushing home on the bus after being made to work overtime so I could watch the European cup final, Heysel, sad sad night.
Almost wanting Liverpool to lose just to tell my friends "I dont support them cause they win all the time!"
Thinking King Kenny and Ian rush are the best partnership I had ever seen, devastated when Rushie left.
Watching John Barnes at Anfield taking Utd apart, pure class (what a player).
Coming home from my semi final win on a sunny Saturday afternoon in a great mood and hearing some news that Liverpool fans were fighting again (oh no).
Turning on the TV with the realisation of what was really happening, feeling hopelessness, despair, total sadness, anger, numb, at what was happening in front of me.
Opening the Sun and seeing the pictures on the center pages showing the faces of those poor soles and vowing never to read that trash again.
Seeing the flowers laid out over the Kop and wondering what the future held for our great club and the feeling of total sorry. I had a strange feeling at that point for the first time in my life football didn't matter anymore.
Watching King Kenny slowly falling apart and into despair, but defiantly walking through through the storm (a true hero)
Watching all of Liverpool play a small part in easing some of the pain at Wembly.
Watching in awe when "God" graced the fields of Anfield (what a player)
Meeting God in Majorca when he was 17, he was pissed all the time, even played five a side against him classic).
Watching outside the ground as a small kid knicked a hot dog from the hog dog stand, the owner chased the kid and left the stall, all his mates then came from every ware and knicked the rest, classic I bet they done it every match day! the guy was gutted.
Me and my mate a Chelsea fan rushing over from work in Bangor to try to get into the match against Chelsea just when the Kop was upgraded. Could not get in but could hear the crowd as Fowler scored a hat trick, was gutted but was chuffed to see my mates face.
Olympiakos what a night, Steven Gerrard take a bow.
Being so nervous I thought the good lord make take me in the final minutes against Chelsea when Gudjonsson's shot flew past the post.
Ataturk Stadium, feeling sick, lost, depressed for 45 minutes and feeling adulation like never before at the end, crying when they showed the credits with the Beatles playing "in my life".
Never being tired of watching the champions league final always putting a smile on my face
feeling despair, hate, anguish at the state of the club after H&G.
Gutted when Liverpool did not make the top 4 with Benitez and realized that it could be a turning point in recent history, and sadly I was right.
Feeling a warmth in my heart watching the King walk out at Old Trafford.
Struggling to watch the match on a Saturday on a rubbish web site streaming and stopping every time Liverpool attack.
Turning the match off 10 minutes from the end when the opposition score only to turn it on again a minute later to see if we have equalised, we rarely did.
Telling myself on a Saturday afternoon after Liverpool lost that I am not going to waste my time watching them again only to pick up the computer on Monday the check the rumours and then start looking forward to the next match.
Feeling sadness for the King after standing behind him at the Swansea dug out looking frail and drained - Good luck Kenny and thanks for the memories you are truly the King of the Kop.
Excited when Brendon took over, as ever feeling optimistic and excited as i was when I was 7 when Jimmy case struck that ball in 77 to make it 1-1.

Being a Liverpool fan is as Shanks once said being part of a big society with all your fiends around you.

Being a Liverpool fan is Being

Liverpool, never walking alone, always supporting the club

Whatever

Evered

Please leave memories

Thankyou, what great memories, some of which nearly bought a tear to my eye!

calum

Barney rubbles goal against Madrid. Henchoz saves against arsenal. Michael censored Thomas scoring arsenal second goal. Ian Rush milk advert. Kenny in tv programme scully. Likewise with Keegan leaving. probably all wrong as i've got a memory of a goldfish. Redevon

Excellent post as usual Evered, I think some people just hit the disagree button for the sake of it, gr8 memories through the good and bad, thank you Simonpw

Michael Owens late, late winner in the cup final against Arsenal and subsequent celebration.

Glory Days!

Mantis.

He is showing his support for his team and proclaiming his love and what we mean to him. He supports the Red and the Liverbird , not just custodians for that period who say the right things then move on to the next team/business venture. I think people disagree because you had actual life experiences involving the your relationship with the team as opposed to shouting at the box in the corner of your living room.
How about Dalglish's equaliser v Arsenal in the 1st FA Cup Semi Final replay at Villa Park in '78 ? As a lucky cnut who seen us lift a few pots , the celebrations when the ball hit the net were up there with any of them. I watched grown men praying to a single star in the sky that night and cry tears of joy for a 1-1 draw !
Walk On amigo

Going to give watching them a miss after a defeat? Wow huge fan. Stopped reading at that
Tommy.

Never forget losing to Arsenal, Michael Thomas, ans crystal palace, so gutted, however beating Chelski second time fantastic.

Being under the when we were 1-0 up against man utd in worthington cup final in 2003, then suddenly hamann puts Owen through on goal, after a great bit of closing down, Roy keane trying his best to catch up to Owen, all the fans screaming " go on go on"...... That little pause of everyone taking in a deep breath just before Owen shoots.....GOAL ....... The celebrations after the goal knowing we had beaten the mancs in a cup final..... Seeing there end empty ASAP after final whistle, hyypia lifting the trophy, dudek showing everyone he wasn't all bad that day, pity about all the other days lol...... singing all the way home...... Eat that mancs

Outstanding post Evered!

So many similarities it's untrue..

Lee YNWA

My most recent(vivid) memories are the Arsenal 4-4 game, added with the Man U vs Spurs/Villa game(s)...You all know what I mean!

Best team in the league that year, without a doubt in my mind. . . . Not that long ago I might add.

Lee YNWA

Tommy big boy, i have supported Liverpool through thick and thin four nearly 40 years. I think i have earned the rights to be a little pis*ed of after Liverpool lose, however what I am getting at is however bad things get I will always support the club, however I am feeling, its a part of my life, a part of me and I can't help it.

Evered

Lee agree should have won that year

Mm!.
I see BR is claiming 'no split' with LFC owners.
Could there be more to this, after all didn't King Kenny say the same thing!!!....

Mm maybe cos it's true, Jesus some people just look for conspiracy or hidden agenda just for the sake of it. It seems to me it's just a constant search for every little word or phrase that can be twisted to suit whatever notion people have to complain about. Get a grip people. Simonpw

Stop wasting your time looking for cracks in the club. start supporting your team.

You know some people actually say what they mean . No hidden agendas just what they say . Sick of people trying to find things between the lines . We all support Liverpool for a reason . Try and remember why ?

Cheers

Jamesy

Cracks are always the first to show, the next minute the roof falls in.
Why then did BR feel the need to mention this.
Unfortunately FSG have made it very difficult for BR to achieve anything (and meet the performance criteria laid down in his contract).
Let's see then!!.

For Gods sake we have all seen through his interviews rodgers is pretty honest, so I'd take his word for it, stop looking for conspiracy and support the club.

Lil Red

I am sure FSG are already looking for potential buyers for FSG.
Thus the whole need to 'cut costs' and make the club more attractive to buyers.
Though I do applaud their attempts, I do feel that the 'have come up wanting' in many arears, their inability to understand the game and indeed the football business has caught them out.
I just hope we finally get the owners the club needs, and owners 'who are' financially capable of really investing (not only in bricks and mortar, but players when required).
Football is a long way from the 'narrow confines' of MLB, and requires continious investment in a club that is a 'world brand and icon'.
Sorry, Boston Red Sox are a American brand, LFC are a world brand, and there is the major difference.
So for FSG it needs to be all about 'priorities'!.

08 Sep 2012 13:50:05
Read in the paper that fsg will back Boston red sox manager for new playing staff and contracts etc, hope we are not going to be used as a revenue for their failing baseball franchise, which would appear to be the case at present.fsg do not appear to be any better than hicks and Gillette, let's wait for the next owners as the current regime are not interested in competing for major honours,John Henrys open letter was all smoke and mirrors deflecting away from the fact that he is not prepared to spend any more money,to keep blaming previous owners is lame and the mistakes of the previous Regime,ie Commoli ,who they appointed, did they not check his previous record at spurs and arsenal?
Henry should keep to stocks and shares {Ed002's Note - Liverpool is losing money so it is hardly providing funding for the Red Sox.}

And the Red Sox make money. Time to rework the conspiracy theory.

I really do wish people would stop associating LFC with the Red Sox. They are completely 2 different revenue streams. If we had the revenue coming in that they had maybe you could moan and complain. I would imagine it would be more likely that Red Sox money would have contributed to our club rather than the other way around. These owners are not prepared to throw good money after bad anymore. If they are given time and patience they will make us competitive, successful and self sufficient. What more can any club or fan ask for. Mis management for years are to blame for our current position not the new owners. Yes they have made mistakes, they've admitted so and for being honest about it, the daggers are drawn. It's ludicrous. They will not make the same mistakes again. I for 1 would rather build it right from the foundations up, improve steadily and consistently and stay at the top than throw a few quid at maybe 1 or 2 good seasons over the next 20 years. Let's get it right now and then reap the rewards. BR is building a future for the club not just a present. He wants to leave a legacy here not just a quick fix that won't last. I really don't think some of you actually listen or read properly what these guys are saying. Taking just snippets or misrepresenting makes you no better than the journo's who decide for themselves what version of actual events to portray. There will be ups and downs this season and maybe even next, but its the longterm future that matters. Solid foundations will see us stand tall for many years to come. Patience, patience, patience.... it will be worth the wait, YNWA simonpw

Another ill-informed dimwit.

Ash

Do some of you think that the relationship between Liverpool and Red Sox is like a marriage? Both have income streams but one (the wife) spends most of the combined income?

The Red Sox are 8 years further along FSGs ownership. If the Red Sox are able to spend money on players it's more than likely that this is due to FSG success at creating profitable income streams rather than feeding from the anorexic cash cow known as Liverpool Football Club.

''I would imagine it would be more likely that Red Sox money would have contributed to our club rather than the other way around.''

Not really.. this whole saga on here regarding FSG... the point JH is trying to get across is that it will be Liverpool money that will contribute to LFC. That means what we can earn as a club. The cutting of costs etc is to balance the books so the club will make money in the future..not successive losses year after year. In two years time if we make no money we'll have nothing to spend on players. Currently we are not in profit and the only way to do that is reign in the spending until what we make.. and we do make money... is ours to spend and not offset these losses. FSG are running the clu b like a business. mark my words..in 5 years time all clubs will be run this way and we'll be way ahead by then..just as Arsenal are now. We have a global draw..that means money. How many other EPL teams have that? We are in safe hands. They are the mutts nutts when it comes to owners.. even if they are naive. They'll learn.

I actually only meant in the original purchase and debt settlement of the club, meaning that FSG having made money from Red Sox over the years and that is how it would have contributed. If you have read any of my previous posts(search simonpw) you will see I fully support the business model FSG are trying to instill. The OP cannot seem to differenciate between the 2 streams. Self sufficiency in this day and age is the only way to build for a profitable and sustainable future, simonpw

Bear in mind in the 10 ish years they've owned the Redsox they've never taken a dividend.

"Self sufficiency in this day and age is the only way to build for a profitable and sustainable future"

And that my friends is exactly what FSG is trying to do. FSG are NOT H&G. FSG are NOT trying to make a quick buck. FSG are not going to mortgage our club.

good post simonpw. I think others really need to take note!

I heard that we are going to make efforts to sign Osvaldo from Roma in January. Do you know much about this player?

08 Sep 2012 13:15:44
Let's get behind BR and give him the support and encouragement he and the team needs in this trying season so fare we will be the ones who moan when we're down and out so let's just use what we have got and see if we can rise about ally he **** that's going on and grasp this season with both hands and enjoy LFC PLAYING FOOTBALL LIKE WE ALL KNOW WE CAN

08 Sep 2012 13:13:42
i have a brill idea.i think BR should hang his portrait in the tunnel with "this is brendan" underneath it, that way the away teams + gerrard, carragher and stirling can give it a good slap.might as well go the hole hog and have portraits of fsg scattered around anfield to create a family fun atmosphere bugs bunny, daffy duck and my favourite deputy dog, then when chelsea visits you could all take turns borrowing cashley coles air rifel and chase the media around the place while uttering the phrase "you pesky muskrats" .then film it and sell it every week to harry hills tv burp also, screen it in america they would love it especially if you actually did shoot the media.it could be the new version of death race 2000 with a maximum 10 points for a journo from the sun.you could call it "death press 2012".what do you think? i think it is defo a goer

Yesil was a very clever purchase. It will have a beneficial impact on all the academy and youth players he trains with. Defenders will sharpen their skills in learning to cope with his movement. Midfielders and attackers will see new methods of opening tight defences.

I believe this young player will fit our style perfectly. Simple, possession based football was the ethos of the all conquering Liverpool teams of the past. Pass and move, play the way you're facing, make angles for team mates.

Yesil has come through the German youth system which is football efficiency personified. It's far too early to say but he looks a natural finisher. He shoots low, into the corners and thrives on goals.

Add these predatory instincts to the burgeoning flair of Sterling and Suso and that looks our front 3 for years to come.

I'm not forgetting Suarez but he is our most marketable asset and given the owners insistance that Lfc becomes self sustainable we have to accept high value players leaving the club every season. This happens at Utd, Arsenal, Spurs etc. so it's not a state of affairs we as fans should moan about.

Rodgers has rightly thrown down the gauntlet to the youth players to man up and make the grade. I'm sure they all revel in their status as Liverpool football players. It's now the time to show if any or all of them can become real,1st team performers who can take our great club forward.

Paul, Staffs.

Oh my Lord. These chest thumping, trying to rally - inspire the fans posts by using words such as ''efficiency personified'' really are getting more and more mundane Paul in Staffs. Give it a rest, they're really bore of the honest order. You, like the rest of us really don't know an awful lot about the German youth system, and I'd wager I know as much about Yesil as you which is what I've read on the web after he joined us, and a little bit on tube you tube.
J.C

J.C.- My post wasn't "call to arms rhetoric" or designed to induce chest bashing hysteria. I don't believe any one individual needs to have infiltrated the inner sanctum of German youth football to realize whatever they do works. Do you think their senior internationals just appear on the scene from nowhere? I suggest you take a little time to compare their record against England's, indeed most nations over the past 50 years.

The fact Yesil is selected to lead their Under 19 side, and score a hatfull of goals in the process, demonstrates their faith in him.

I would suggest their federation knows a lot more about players than either you or I and this, my friend, makes me feel we have a special talent on our hands.

If you wishto staynegstive about the current plight at Liverpool then do so, I for one won't be joining you for a little while yet.

Ed's, my knowledge isnt great in these pre-contract matters, but can we get Llorente to sign a pre contract agreement with the club as early as say end of this month?. Wont it be similar to the PSG-Lucas Moura deal where by they will get the player in January after his domestic league campaign is done?. I know it will only be half way through the european league season, but is there a chance of this?
I reckon its best we "tie" up his deal before anyone else even blinks an eye as then atleast we can try hard to push for our other targets without having to worry about striker problems.

On a similar note, can we also get Walcott to do the same??. If so, can you please tell me what details we must be ready to suffice to i.e. must we agree to his terms of wages, playing time etc. Or is it just that he has literally signed for us but is not yet "eligible" to join the club until that transfer time.

Thanks Ed's and sorry for being abit long. Great site btw and keep up the Good Work. ;-) {Ed001's Note - January is the earliest Llorente can sign a pre-contract, Walcott can't do so until one month before the end of his contract.}

Any word of boardroom fallout from the transfer saga? Is anyone being held accountable? Or are we just stuck with a letter?

Thanks,

Did anyone see the article on the LFC site that said, "Rodgers says we can make Allens." What a joke, if we can make 'em, then why'd we buy him then, LOL.

Probably because it takes time for things to grow and flourish barca take the approach of taking young players while they are adaptable to ideas & the ethic of "seny" where as real madrid take the fast food approach and purchase the instant gratification " happy meal player" the only problem with this method is cost and tends to need repeating every 10 to 12 years...... Paisley's genius

Perhaps Professor von Rogers has been busy in the laboratory and is going to 'clone' Allan to produce a whole team of them. It would certainly confuse the opposition.

08 Sep 2012 10:50:45
The problem is the midfield.
Every world class team have always had midfielders that score plenty of goals throughout the season. Strikers should score yes but it's the midfield that's the key.
I think our current midfield it glittery but has no penatration.
Lucas, Allen, Downing, Shelvey, Spearing all good at what they do but don't score enough.
Gerrard is getting older and scoring less and he tries to be to tactically clever at times.
The midfield is the key and is our current midfield scoring enough?.

Which world is spearing good we put him out there for anyone to buy and only bolton put in a bid

And that was only a loan bid lol

The midfield is fine for once, even better when lucas is back.. the problem is we need Gerrard in the front three.. there's a reason he hasn't been scoring as much in the last 3 years.. I don't know how Rodgers hasn't played him there yet.. i find it bizarre.. personally i reckon he'd be a great no 9.. or at least closley support Suarez on the right

What's all your thoughts on the documentary about Liverpool to be show soon?

I'm sure that it's going to be a fantastic viewing. However, there is simply far too much opportunity for the media to turn it into a mockery.

Firstly, we saw Brendan Rodgers having a go at Sterling. Quite right he was. A 17yr old reacting like he did in front of those far more experienced in both football and life needed bringing down a peg or two. But, the media turn on Rodgers.

Secondly, I've just been reading an article on the telegraph site about BRs meditation and relaxation class In which the author points out Carragher laughing whilst trying to perform meditation exercise.

I fear that for fans it will be an interesting viewing. For the media and the haters, it will provide endless opportunities to write more anti-Liverpool article and comments.

Can't judge it until I've seen it

I have the same concern

I don't anyone is stupid enough to show the inner workings of the club / training / tactics etc but what happened to behind closed doors Liverpool way of thing

Do we really need Liverpool to be the next osbornes / kardashians / jersey shore / towie !!!!

Leam Red
I read BR said that he wants to keep sterling away from the media spotlight (like Fergie did with his youngster) and in the next breath he is crucifying the lad on national television

Am worried that BR thinks he is some kind of media star like mourinho instead of the Lfc manager
Sometimes I wish he would just shut the f up and get his down and sort the team out
He gets far too much media coverage

Lmao are you for real mate.is making a documentary and putting it on the tv not media?.do you want all info regarding lfc including the national newspapers match reports,motd,talksh-te,soccer saturday ect ect ect banned?.are lfc supporters so sensitive and immature that they cant bear any critisism of their club?.the rest of us have to take it and dont moan about it so whats the prob?.if fsg are going to make a fool out of themselves and the club then they dont have to air the documentary on the worldwide media do they?.liverpool supporters need to grow up,you cant have your cake and eat,im sure stalin would be happy to know his doctrin is alive and well and flourishing in the ranks of the liverpool supporters

November.
AnfieldUSA

Anon. I've no idea what you are on about. A bit of punctuation might have helped.

Elements of the media have over the past 12 months got extremely aggressive towards LFC. The Suarez situation was possibly the catalyst. Dalglish tried to stand up to them but no chance he could succeed. Liverpool's recent decline has given those in the press who support other top teams the opportunity to go over the top on their reporting. They're happy to make nonsense up. Who was FSGs 1st choice? The Daily Mail will tell you it was Martinez. No. Martinez met John Henry 24th May in Miami. Over a week after BR rejected LFCs original approach.

The media (by that I mean the gutter press) will get bored. The concern is that this documentary will provide more ammo at a time when we could do without it. It will be interesting to see Being Chelsea and Being Man City when they're produced and broadcast...

Sure there are reasons to doubt FSG with regards to how the transfer window ended but clearly they are not willing to take chances like we did last season by spending big money on players who still have not made an impact at Liverpool.

They have reduced the wage bill because it was necessary to do so. Kuyt, Maxi and Aquilani combined cost the club +- 300K a week which did not present value on the pitch. We have now made room for younger talent and players from our youth who I feel have been neglected for many many many years.

We need to produce players like Macmanaman, Fowler, Owen, Carra and Gerrard again. It has been far to long now that we have wasted money on transfer fees and wages on players over the years gone by and the fact that we have had such little return with Trophies going back 22 years now by wasting money season after season has left FSG no option but to change the way money is being spent and now they rectifying mistakes that have been made over the last decade plus learning valuable lesson themselves from the previous transfer window. Spending crazy money will not guarantee success at Anfield. Finding gems in our youth or paying 1mil for someone like Yesil is the way we need to go forward from now on.

Patience is the key.

Red4Life

Gerrard is a once in lifetime player

We will not see his likes again

Pity most on here want to retire him

Gerrard needs to play in the front 3 to get the best out of him

Gerrard needs to pull his finger out and play better.

Gerrad has to play in the front three. He is the only player we can trust to find the net and get assists..

I think we all have to realise that Gerrard is no longer the player he used to be. We cannot rely on Gerrard anymore like we used to. How long before we see him back to his best? Not trying to say his days are over but we need to give Shelvey a chance to prove his worth otherwise we will always have the attitude of 'Gerrard is a once in a lifetime player'.

Shelvey has all the potential to become our next Gerrard but the longer we continue to keep him back, the longer we will wait for our next Gerrard and I hope Rodgers realises that fact.

I give up! I surrender! I am totally defeated!
I was full of hope yesterday I wanted to believe we were not a joke but this DOCU is gonna kill us!

I have just read and seen that Rodgers has introduced meditation classes(think Glenn Hoodle, but worse) senior players are seen pissing themselves with laughter. Also in a really wierd one, inside Rodgers house he has a large poster style photo of himself hanging on the wall!

I wanted to believe he was in the mould of Shankly but he is more David Brent or Glenn Hoodle!

LFC should never release behind the scenes stuff it can only serve to weaken us.

WE WILL BE EVEN MORE OF A LAUGHING STOCK WHEN THIS MUCK AIRS!

You mean rodgers is not the messiah I had my suspicions

We should of course have kept Kenny but now we are where we are

No doubt it will be a long and difficult road back to the summit

What's wrong with meditation?

3 managers we shouldn't of sacked.. Evans, Benitez and Dalglish.
You could argue Houlier but his was more health issues.
Let's just hope Rodgers will achieve rather than be another Blip like Hodgson.

Nothing wrong with the meditation.. its zen innit.. defo beneficial..could lead to a better chance conversion rate.. Didn't Giggs do Yoga? He's still playing! I personally like Rodgers, he's eccentric like most geniuses!

Been meditating for 5 years wish I had tried it before even western medical science now admits to it's benefits & prescribe it for treatment of depression (the long term problem with anti depressants is that they either create a dependency or the depression eventually returns) any reds who are opened minded might try researching meditation,it does not have to be religious or sectarian it has a lot of value in a secular society....... Paisley's genius

If anyone needs to meditate its defo the Liverpool squad! Especially Suarez

Perhaps BRs daughter created the poster as part of her GCSE art? Perhaps Swansea had it done for him at the Liberty Stadium and gave it to him as he packed up his desk?

Who knows why it's there. The problem is that like you, the media will (and have) picked up on it as a sign of arrogance.

The documentary will not be 'MUCK'. I am sure that we as fans will find it fascinating. I'm sure neutrals will find it interesting. I'm sure the haters and media will have a field day...

I took actual pride in some of those responses. nice one.

Agree with Paisley's Genius - meditation is extremely beneficial in not only battling depression but generally unwinding and recovering from physical and emotional stress.

I was slightly sceptical until I gave it a go but it leaves you with energy, enthusiasm and euphoria.

Sure it's not for everyone, and so what if some of the players don't believe in it?

It's a well recognised problem in modern day football that some players struggle to handle the expectation and pressure.

If it helps just one or maybe two players, surely it's worth it.

Joe

Is it now time for BR to speak to Gerrard about his international career?

He has been prone to long term injuries in last couple of years and as a club we need him back to his inspirational best. My fear is that Gerrard is prioritising his international career over his club position. I understand why he may feel this way with little chance of the premiership medal he craves. Time to take a leaf out of Scholes and Giggs books and put your club needs first and lengthen your playing career at the top flight. We cannot afford an injured or jaded Gerrard with our current precarious situation. He will also be needed to develop our youngsters over the next couple of years.

It is not as if England will win anything !

Time to think about your employer Stevie G !

Maybe once he has 100 caps.
ND

The thing is stevie may feel while he is captain of england, he would be letting his country down if he quits, i cant see him doing this, while he wears the captains armbrand for england...............lfc

I think this time of year the more games a play has the better, Gerrard could be fitter, it will help LFC.

Time to forget about the disappointment of the summer and the lack of players and look forward.
I do not believe the board mis-led BR - They have made it very clear from day one what thier transfer policy is - Look to buy 'young' players, at good value, with possible sell on values and, Dempsey for one, did not fit !

Yes, we are a little short on the ground, but I think, long term, we will see the benefits of almost having to introduce some of the high quality youngsters to the team -- Many of us have posted on here over the past few seasons, moaning how youth has not been given the chance, and now they have the chance - Lets just hope they reach the potential we have heard so much about!

If what I have read is correct, we can recall Carroll in January (if required) plus, with the savings we have made on the salaries of those sold / loaned (I hear some £400k per week - with Kuyt, Carroll and Maxi being some of the top earners), if the saving alone is re-invested in the squad, we should have a reaonsable budget.

Get behind the manager and the boys - Expect top 8 finish only and enjoy the football!

hi eds please answer any truth in the Mclean Rumours thanks ? {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of them.}

07 Sep 2012 17:30:56
Eds how much has LFC saved annually from all sales of players and savings of wagers from the transfer window?

FowlerGod. {Ed002's Note - Sales of players is not really a saving as more were purchased. However, sales and loan fees have provided a little over £9M this summer. Purchases totalled more than £37M. Wage savings overall are down perhaps £20M from before last summer when they peaked.}

08 Sep 2012 07:57:32
Eds please post this.
Just a couple of things I was hoping you could clear up.
Is there an option to buy for sahin?
Is there an option to buy for Carroll?
Also do Leverkusen have a buy back option on yesil?
Thanks in advance
Kyle {Ed049's Note - No,Yes,Yes}

ED, Please explain the Buy back on Yesil, I was a on holiday when we got him. Why would we allow a buy back?? - McMenemy {Ed002's Note - Without seeing the contract I have no detailed understanding of what is says. I have previously speculated what it is likely to be.}

Why waste more money on strikers (Wages and signing on fees) that are 35+ year old. Now is the time to build up our younger players. We do have strikers, just not seasoned ones. Bring in Yesil who is on fire and start developing his talent. I wish LFC would cease in relying on seasoned players who may not come good due to age or poor form and then were back to square one again. Start developing our young talent now and we will reep the benefits later. Raheem Sterling will be unstoppable and he is developing well. i see the same in Yesil, Let's hope he's in next week, so we can have a glimpse at what his potential will be for Liverpool which i'm sure will be high.
LFC
Marc

I was disappointed like the rest that we didnt sign a striker, but I am looking forward to a youth player coming through. Yesil, Morgan, Suso...whoever it may be, its time for them to take their chance.

Joe Allen = New Steven Gerrard
Brenden Rodgers = New Bill Shankly

Liverpool FC have made two massive recruitments with the two above mentioned names and thats a big deal.

Martin Kelly
John Flanagan
Jack Robinson
Raheem Sterling
Adam Morgan

Have all over a two year period come through our Accademy which is a very good sign for the future, Sure they wont all make it at Liverpool but the production line has started.

Rudolfo Borrell is the best Accademy coach in the world, And has been responsible for some of the mighty Barcelona's talent that came through.

Kenny Dalglish and now Brenden Rodgers are trying to get back to playing the Liverpool way (which hasn't been seen since Roy Evans). Once this crop of players learns to play the Liverpool way, We will start winning the Liverpool way, Which made us the most dominant team in the world when we had perfected it.

Why do the doom and gloom fans never see any of this, Yes there are players that need to be moved on, Players that need to be brought in, The owners may need to be flexible with their ways in certian situations, The board may need tweaking but at least there are improvements happening and BIG ones too.

2/3 Transfer windows, 6/12 months working with Brenden and his team and we'll all see huge differences.

Time and patience, I know we've been patient but abit longer it will all be worth it.

Any Eds/Reds agree-Disagree ?

Cheers UCCM

Agree with you mate. We just need to have some patience. Remember where was arsenal last year this time?...YNWA
REDistani.

U forgot about suso

Allen is different to gerrard, allen is a proper midfield player,

majestic69

You know Joe allen won't do the following or have the following qualities

Drive his team forward like no one else can

Score over 150 goals (and counting) for LFC

Distribute 40 yeards passes with pin point accuracy

Have the physical presence and power to cut through any defence

Have a never say die attitude that can not be acquired stevie was born with it and it was bred further into him on the backs streets of liverpool playing football

As for BR being shankly, wakey wakey

There are many cornerstones of LFC
Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish, Gerrard, Smith, Callaghan

BR will never be a cornerstone of LFC

BR is on record as ssaying he expects his tenure not to be soo successful and is only laying the foundation for future managers

I assume you are young learn who the greats are and don't belive the lies in your eyes no matter who put that S**t there

I think Shelvey will become the new Gerrard!

Hi Eds, great site. First time poster but will get my moneys worth...

My views on the topics that have dominated all of our thoughts over the past week, and a look at the positive outcomes from the negative first impressions....

1. The AC / replacement striker deadline day flop

I think the fact that AC didn't fit into the first team plans was the worst kept secret in history. His profile is too big to be the sort of player who you want constantly sitting on the bench in a backup role sulking because of that. Similar situation to why Hodgson called up Kelly over Rio Ferdinand for England in the summer - the harmony of the squad. Once that was clear there was no going back. There were obviously efforts made to sign a striker, some that we know of (Sturridge) and some that we probably don't.

Outcome: Adam Morgan, a lifelong Liverpool fan with the club in his heart, with a fantastic record in the youth and reserve teams, ready to come on and fight for his future and happy to be on the bench with that chance each game. Learning and developing with his experiences at an age where it will really help him push on and costing next to nothing in wages.

2. Dempsey

There was obviously a limit the owners were prepared to go to get Dempsey in. Maybe Fulham pushed the price up for us because of the faux pa earlier in the summer, maybe tottenham made a better offer. Doesn't matter in my mind because...

Outcome: Clint Dempsey in the matchday squad = no Suso in the matchday squad. I think all fans want to see him after a great summer. This could be his breakthrough year and that would have been directly threatened by Dempsey being brought in last week. If Suso does not succeed then maybe we will regret not having Dempsey in the squad. If he does succeed then not bringing in Dempsey could have been the best decision possible.

3. Budget constraints

The owners invested a big chunk of money last summer in the likes of Downing, Henderson and Adam and got their fingers burnt by the complete lack of value Comolli got. I believe Kenny wanted to get a core of British players to bring some identity back to the club, Comolli should have been far shrewder and driven the prices down or walked away. That blind trust in Comolli was I believe one of the owners 'mistakes' referred to by JW Henry. That investment has basically disappeared into thin air and no club can afford to do that each year. We have removed a lot of expensive poor-value players from the wage bill (at least one more still to go IMO) from the previous owners. We can now compose ourselves with an improved scouting team to go and get value (not necessarily cheap) players who fit in with the style of the team.

Outcome: The club has a financially stable long term cost base and future which will allow us to use any additional revenues to bring in top talent, keep season ticket prices down, and comply with FFP. The club has spent money. Joe Allen is top drawer for £15m. Borini needs time to settle and get up to Premier League pace, but he's 21 and on the fringe of an international first team which hammered England so he has a big future in the game.

Note: To put my value point across...

Carvalho, Maniche, Pepe, Anderson, Queresma, Bosingwa, Lissandro Lopez, Lucho Gonazalez, Aly Cissokho, Bruno Alves, Falcao, Guarin and Hulk COMBINED cost Porto 30m EUR. That's right.... thirty million Euros. Those players were sold at a profit of 360 million EUR.

4. League start / Arsenal defeat

There's a learning curve that the players are on, things worked well at City but Arsenal were too composed for us on the day, we will get there soon enough and it'll be worth it. I feel that Lucas returning will be a big catalyst for us kicking on and getting great results. Arsenal have been a top 4 Premier League team each and every season for over a decade, it's not a disgrace to lose to them from two counter-attacking goals. I do feel that Gerrard needs to give us a lot more than he has so far this season.

Outcome: We are moving in a direction that will get us playing great, successful, football. I firmly believe we are at the bottom of a gradual decline. Lucas will come back, Allen will push up into his best role, Sahin will get fitter and acclimatised, Shelvey will continue to grow and impress, Gerrard will finally get some real competition for his starting place. As the lessons are learned and the team grows that will snowball and we will be back where we belong - challenging for the title. I wouldn't want any Premier League manager other than Brendan Rodgers right now.

5. FSG motives

The owners took us from the brink of financial meltdown. Let us never forget that. They didn't need to get involved in an already messy, bitchy legal battle to take over the club. They saw an opportunity to invest in the club and see it grow. There's no quick bucks to be made. Long term success on (and therefore also off if capitalised well, like we are now doing) will see the value of the club increase dramatically and that appreciation of equity will be released when they sell the club, that's their business plan here clearly. There's years left to get there. The fact that John Henry took the time to engage with the fans openly should be embraced. Once bitten, twice shy following Hicks and Gillett is the default emotion at any sign FSG weakness, but we should put our trust in them more than we originally did with H&G when we just brought Torres all that time ago. They are repairing massive damage and have taken a huge debt burden away.

We need to have patience and faith.

There are the families of 96 fans who have shown the ultimate patience and faith to carry on without justice for their loved ones in the hope that one day it will come.

Puts the prospect of a few more defeats into perspective.

You want LFC to develop players and then sell them that won't win much will it?

I didn't say anything about Liverpool selling any players. The sale profits from Porto show the appreciation in value of the players they have brought in. They chose to cash in on that but not every club needs to. I would rather have 4 or 5 players brought in for a few million now worth 10s of millions sitting in the squad than the opposite position where we find ourselves now. Don't know why people spend time trying to pick holes in every point yet not sign off so that they can be challenged....

Stevo Mac

The op is not saying he wants Liverpool to develop players just to sell them. Im sure what he means is, why pay £30m for a player when we can bring through our own youth talent and develop those players into the £30/£40m talents of the future. It's a shrewd way of both staying competitive at the top and if players move on as is inevitable in the sport that we can recoup the maximum re-sale value available. It doesn't make us a selling club but more financially stable and eventually self sufficient. Who's to say that any future young star won't say to themselves, wow I want to sign for LFC cos il get game time, look at the kind of football they play etc. The OP took gr8 time to think about his post and I completely agree. it was a fantastic post. It's about time we as fans stopped the nasty back biting and supported the team. Fans who only sing when we are winning are not really true fans. If that was the case they would all support the Champions and not every club up and down the land, in every country in the world. YNWA Simonpw

I like a few others have had time to reflect on the final day of the transfer window and come to the peaceful conclusion that the owners have actually done what most sensible people would do when they see things are going wrong, they took a step back and decided how they were going to put things right. We could all argue that they don't know what they are doing but they have admitted there failings in trusting kenny with returning former glories only to find out that he was from a bygone but glorious era. They have taken a massive financial hit putting Kenny in charge after listening to fan opinion, this backfired and all the noises since john henry wrote his open letter are telling us they won't make that mistake again. I ask all honest reds, who could blame them for that ? Ben the ball

We need two attackers in January one to replace Bellamy and Maxi at LWF/RWF and one to replace Carroll up top.

CF/Wide Forward - Kevin Gameiro £12m
Winger/LB - Michel Bastos - £7m
= £19m
Both are available (as they are not key players) and at prices that are acceptable to us(Bastos only if we sell). both are fast and technical also.

Bastos brings 6 goals and 7 assists is a season that he only played 22 matches in all competitions. he has scored 29 goals and provided 16 assists in 107 games at lyon.

Gameiro only got 12 goals and 2 assists in 39 games at PSG last season after scoring 59 goals with 19 assists in 120 games at Lorient.

None of them have played for their clubs so far this season.

This is what we should already have to spend.
Adam £4m
Spearing, Carroll loans £2.5m
= £6.5m

we could raise the extra £12.5m in January by selling Downing for around £10m and getting Pacheco, Doni and Cole out (the latter 3 being the only players left at the club that we want to move on).

...............................Gameiro(10)........................
............Suarez....................................Bastos(13)
........................Allen............Gerrard....................
.................................Lucas.................................
Jose...............Agger...............Skrtel.............Glen.
..................................Reina.................................

bench from; jones, kelly, coates, carragher, shelvey, sahin, henderson, sterling, assaidi, borini.

Shut up fella do you think brendan and the owners dont know that they will buy when the price is right not for the sake of buying as we did with kenny

Why put suarez on the left, where sterling is doing a fine job? the only confusion i have with the positioning of the team is why is BR playing borini on the right? why not put suarez on the right and borini in the middle?....No need to replace players just back-up/options required. so is Gameiro value for money? 12m to sit on our bench instead of PSG's

I can't see the 'big spenders' ever abiding by the FFP rules, there will always be a loophole for them to exploit.
The so called 'level playing field' will never happen.
I mean look how long it took fifa and uefa to introduce 'goal line initiatives' (and that was a 'no brainer').
The super rich clubs of the world will continue as they please, there is just too much money going round, and its always available to 'grease a few palms'.
So forget about it (sounds like Donnie Brasco), its a rich teams game, and nothing will stop that, it will always be encouraged, and a available sponsor/provider will always be available.
Those without means will always complain, but its a capitalist system, a consumption driven machine...spend, spend!.
So if you can't compete, well then you are sh*t out of luck!.

Eds, been on here for the last few months now and replied to a few FSG haters saying they were right for the job and they will come good......but now i feel like a mug! J.W.Henrys open letter to us fans was disgraceful! your views please?

JOZLFC {Ed063's Note - Erm....how was it disgraceful? It was all class and showed that the owners are here for the long term, not just looking to make a quick buck. And I certainly wouldn't have blamed them had they decided to sell considering they were getting death threats from fans. I really have no clue what you mean by 'disgraceful' I'm afraid}

'agree' to Ed not the poster

Puzzled

Small point Ed - I'd never call anyone making death threats to anyone a 'fan' regardless of the club concerned - psycho maybe, fan most definitely not.

A mate you are a mug you say you have backed the owners now you have turned on them the man took the time to explain the sittuation he did not have to he did it because he has become passionate about his club and the fans as you are about your club. I for one thank Mr Henry for his honest frank and open letter he explained exactly as it is and how its is going to be so get back to backing them there winners they dont take loosing lightly as Ian Ayre will find out to his cost me thinks by the way well said eds63

the owners are making own club look marketable to sell, there getting the wage bill down so the club look in profit then they will sell us so they make a profit and if u cant see it ur stupid

No,they are trying to avoid paying exorbitant fees for players like they did for Downing, Adam, Henderson, and Carroll. They supported Kenny and have been bitten. The Carroll transfer was a panic buy, Downing and Henderson have been let downs and Adam has found his level at Stoke. Grow up.

No they are not getting the wage bill down to make a profit and then sell the club. Do you have any idea of how a football club should be run? Not saying I am a genius but clearly you cannot see past your nose.

FSG are preparing for the future. They want to make LFC self sufficient and players on high wages which do not present value i.e. Aquilani etc would have hindered the club from getting there. This transfer window saw LFC getting rid of players who were eating away at our wage bill. Do you realise that Kuyt, Maxi and Aquilani combined earned +- 300K a week? What value did the 300K bring LFC on the pitch? More than what Allen, Borini, Sahin, Assaidi and Yesil will in years to come? The days of players dictating the wage bill at LFC has now come to an end. Value for money is now the name of the game.

City have their Sheik who is pumping money into City like there is no tomorrow but that does not help when City run at a loss every season does it? What will happen if the Sheik decides tomorrow that he has had enough of City and football and takes his money and goes? City will be buggered as they will have a wage bill which cant be afforded by the club and they will have players who will jump ship as well which leaves them wit a empty stadium. City will go bankrupt in one day my friend.

Go back and do your homework and then maybe you can come up with a better argument than just one line of moaning.

Red4Life

Well done stupid!

You cant run a buisness at a loss mate it will go under look we have very little debt we have investment coming into the club we have an accademy equal if not better than most in the world we have in ruddolfo the best youth coach in the world we have a young vibrant manager who wants to play football on the floor and will not be held to ransom over players fees we have owners who want to run the club on an even keel we are organising our club not for today but for tommorow and the years to come and if in years to come the owners want sell the club it will be a club that has prospects has a financial footing has very little debt has a football set up equal to any other so the best possible buyers will want to buy the club not like the other two H&G so be grateful for who we have as owners

nobody said carrol bellemy n kuyt were prolific just other than suarez they were the best scorers. not to mention adams who happened to lead in assists. thats why they are off to the worst start in the premier league since 62 and thats why they needed the scottish team to score their own goal. yeah they freed up wages but for what? for nothing. and a pro coach doesnt ship people out till he has a replacement.

Rodgers Tried To Offload Trio

Liverpool tried to offload Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Jose Enrique in the period leading up to transfer deadline day last week.

The Daily Mail claims that Brendan Rodgers put forward a number of names in a part-exchange deal with Fulham for Clint Dempsey. Rodgers had agreed in principle a swap deal involving Henderson but the midfielder refused to go to Craven Cottage and the deal collapsed. Liverpool later offered a fee for Demspey which has been variously reported as £3million or £4million. Whichever the figure it was less than the £5million plus £2million in bonuses offered by Aston Villa and accepted by Fulham - though Dempsey rejected the move - or the £6million offered by Spurs, where the USA international eventually moved on Friday.

The Mail claims that agents circulated the names of Downing, Henderson and Enrique in the hope of raising the cash to clinch the Dempsey deal but none were sold.
Reds Dismiss Del Piero Talk

Meanwhile, Liverpool have dismissed as 'nonsense' talk that the club were in the running to sign Alessandro del Piero.

If this is true then BR targeting the bulk of KKs signings to remove from the squad. Matter of necessity to improve or just principle?

Liverpool fans don't read the daily mail.

Not a Liverpool rumour as such, but the BBC's gossip page says that Spurs are after Ganso, who could be available for £8m.

Surely that's worth a punt from us? They've stolen enough players from under our noses this season.

Verdad {Ed063's Note - I highly doubt Ganso would be available for 8mil. Remember it is the 'gossip' page mate}

I feel BR needs to be more flexible with his strategy/formations. His possession strategy/tiki Taka/pass and move whatever you want to call it doesn't have to be confined to a 4-3-3. His biggest critique at Swansea was his inflexibility lack of plan B and so forth. I feel that he has tried to implement a strategy without taking into account the personnel we have available.

At times I feel we could employ a 4-1-3-2 with good effect.

Borini Suarez
Sahin Allen Gerard
Lucas
Enrique Agger Skrtl Johnson
Reina

Thoughts?

Its a shame that u dont find room for shelvey...

Gosh, you should write to him. He has years of experience at Chelsea, Reading and Swansea but you've found a real gap in his thinking.

Once the players properly grasp BRs footballing philosophies, he will have a far more malleable beast at his fingertips.

Do you really think that as ambitious, articulate and intelligent a manager would do anything other than afford his team the best possible chance of victory?

Gerrard needs dropping for his attitude as much as anything else, so Shelvey should start on current form.

liverpool r my team i love them but the way we are goen now its bad ,but think of it this way so called fans saying we,ll be lucky not to get relegated come on yeah if there was only 2r3 games left yeah then maybe, but come on get agrip .we actually play some good stuff the only thing i dont like about the new system is this playing around at the back,it keeps leading to mistakes,ie westbrom ,man city so none of this rubbish & we,ll get better ,we all no the next 3 transfer windows are gona be crucial so come on fellow reds were bad at the minute but we,ll get better so keep the faith with the manager when he gets the he wants we,ll be up there might take 1r2 seasons but i,ve faith it,ll come ,,uno it makes sence BAZZA THE RED

Any 1 else bored of hearing "resale value"? pathetic! I dont care what their resale value is, i`d like to think we buy loyal players who are with us through thick n thin and not sell them on just because their value has gone up, i mean their value only goes up if they`re doing well so if this is the case why would u sell them??

I don't think it just to sell them on, I think it helps to attract further investment sponsors if we have a team of £20 million +rated player but they only cost 5 investors would see us as a safe option to place there money assured of a return in the long run!

Ian Rush 300,000 from Chester -> 3M to Juve. Bad thing?

Having resale value means they are doing their job. It doesn't necessarily mean that they are going to be sold. Jay Spearing will stick with us through thick and thin but do you really want him to be playing for Liverpool?

BthekingB

Couldn't agree more, do we want to be a feeder club for teams with lots of cash or do we want to develop players and keep them playing at the highest level with us competing for trophies??

Not signing anyone could be a blessing in disguise... bring in the promising youth and see what they can do!

Can we cease with the free signing rubbish? It is the realms of the clinically brain-dead lacking in vision or ambition. There are non on the radar, there haven;t been and there won't be. And that is a good thing - so get the silly idea out of your silly heads. We have a job to do. Bringing in a free agent striker by zimmer frame is not part of it. RED LENIN

Hi All
never seen this site so quiet, think a little disallusioned after the final days transfer disaster, might be worth it in the long run if some of the younger players get more game time,we have some talent in our youths, would like to see Suso ang Ngoo get some games, with Sterling and Morgan,a couple of wins and we will be buzzing again.

Please tell me why joe Allen or Suarez played tonight

Joe allen has the flu or something so didn't play

Assume you mean didn't play...

Joe Allen has a bug - nothing serious I understand.

Not sure on Suarez but would assume maybe given a break after playing in the Olympics over the summer. {Ed049's Note - Suarez was suspended}
