Eds, I saw that Sturridge and Henderson were both injured in our international break. Do you know thebextentnof the injuries? Also, I'm seeing Henderson is in the starting lineup against Switzerland? Finally, what's the chance of us getting compensated for all our injuries? If sterling goes it will be even worse. However, on a positive note. 1 to 2 seasons ago our squad would have been decimated by these injuries. now I can't help but feeling we have enough quality to cope, which is great

There is a poll on the Echo website asking fans who they would like to see replace Sturridge for the match against Villa

As it stands:

Lazar Markovic: 30%
Adam Lallana: 23%
Coutinho: 16%
Sterling: 12%
Lambert: 11%
Borini: 9%

I find this very interesting as there are no clear-cut favorites and everyone got votes.
What I'm trying to say is, now that the injuries have started to hit, we will see the benefit of just how much depth we have and quality at that.

When Borini is the least favored option of 6 to start in place of Sturridge, I think that can only reflect well on the strength of the squad

Believable13 Unbelievable0

Oddly enough Borini may have a opportunity to show his worth him and suso have it all to do but I think they have s chance

Anyone think Borini being Italian (bare with me) would be a good partner for Balotelli, they must have played with each other at some point in their International careers, haven't they?

Never got the call from LFC to partner Rush up front.

Quality in depth, followed by the names Borini and Lambert is a contradiction in itself, if Sterling is out injured too for any length of time it will be a struggle.

If I was signed by Liverpool (I'm less than Stanley Matthews was in his FA Cup final), and Liverpool made it clear I didn't figure in their plans (I can do 10 kicky upies so cannot imagine why), I would want significant compensation to leave to make up for not being part of Liverpool set up (future club to pay not Liverpool)

I would be horrified if Waro no longer thought I was worthy of my name.

Waro - the name's Gidgo. Say my name. Say my name.

Sturridge song- to 'come on Eileen'

Come on Dan-ny
You're the best in the league
Hit the back of the net
And hear us cheer and shout

Don't worry, won't be giving up my day job any time soon!

Believable3 Unbelievable10

I think "Come on Eileen" lends itself well to a football song, I think you could be on to something there. Perhaps something like

Come on Dan-ny
Your dancing's fancy
Score a goal now
And we'll cheeeeer and sing.

I honestly never thought i'd contribute to one of the song threads, but you inspired me!

Looks like woy is going to risk hendo and play him today like he did with sturridge last year.
Then he has a flight back which causes swelling for a twisted ankle.
I'd really love players to show some loyalty for there club teams, why would u want to be apart of woys England anyway? It's embarrassing!

Believable7 Unbelievable3

08 Sep 2014 14:57:44
I too think so, can't blame Roy. There is no single player who could replace Hendo in the England team.

Agree2 Disagree1

Why stop there?

Why not ask all footballers to respect the club teams they play for and not make themselves available for their country.

Ever thought they might fancy an international run out? Ever thought patriotism - whomever you play for - actually means something?

No? Thought not.

Agree12 Disagree3

Rubbish mate.

Hendo will WANT to play. He wants to make CM for England HIS, and so he should.

Credit to the lad.

Agree9 Disagree2

Well said Marshy.

Henderson strikes me as a player that sees playing for his country as a privilege.

Would you turn down a chance to play for your country?

Red Rum

Agree9 Disagree2

I am sure the late boby Moore as well as the living Miroslav Klose both have deeply regreted not shwoing more loyalty to their clubs and waisting so much time on international duty. unless you are in favour of cancelling international football somone has to play for England.

Klose is from Poland

Absolute nonsense excuse that Marshy. Players like Hendo and Sturridge want to play every game, of course they do. But it's up to a responsible manager to ensure that playing is not a particular risk for them and that by playing he doesn't unduly risk further injury. If Hodgson was club manager, would he play Hendo a day after he limped off the training ground? No, of course he wouldn't. The fact that a player is a fighter with a great attitude doesn't give the manager license to risk his physical health.

Eds any news on the injuries of sturridge and henderson? Hope they aren't out for long! Ynwa

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Hendo should be fine, Sturridge I am not sure about, they are keeping quiet, but that could just be because of swelling making it difficult to be certain how bad it is.}

Looks like Hendo will be fine for tonight's game. Just hope Dinosaur Woy does not field him for the full 90 mins as its basic common sense. But its Woy and he hates LFC, so I can see Hendo play the whole game if passed fit. Not sure what the club and BR would think of this, hopefully a strongly worded letter to the national team for being inept and useless.

ED01, Isn't it usual that the club releases official statment regarding player's injury?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - no.}

Common sense?roy hodgson does not hate lfc, he is an international manager trying to win a game any way he can.if players get sent back to clubs injured that's just the way it is.all managers br included would do the same.

Hello Eds! I play football manager and I know that at some point when you fear a player might be injured on international duty you can put a time limit to his on field play. does that happen in real life? If it does I think training proceedures for each player should also be sought by the country the player represents. We are on the receiving end of all this. Sturridge, now Hendo!
Am really gutted. I just hope this does not mess up a promising start to the season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it can be requested, but you can't enforce it, and international managers of bigger nations very rarely take any notice.}

And along the same lines, is Platini capable of imposing a 3 match club ban for Ribery if he doesn't play internationals? Seems wrong to me.

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes It's already happened in the past I think to Makelele(?)

Well that's just great. Henderson injured after a knock in training. Hopefully not too serious because he brings something extra to our midfield. Only Lallana can realistically press with such tenacity in our squad currently. Allen is good at it but Henderson and Lallana are in another league in the way that they press with such intensity. The injuries that have happened in the last 3 weeks or so (Skrtel, Johnson, Moreno (although he did return for the next match), Studge and now Hendo) show why we needed to buy so many players to be able to cope with the amount of games we will play

On a brighter note, I've heard a lot of our players have done very well on the international stage. Hopefully they can match that form for the club, especially Sakho, who I feel just needs a bit of confidence put into him.

He is a real fighter and would be back before Sunday. A much needed 5 days rest is the best news.

Agree5 Disagree2

And they wonder why we don't like players going away on International duty!

If him and Sturridge are injured for a few weeks i'll be gutted for them and us!

Agree1 Disagree1

We had to spend £100mil to make the squad bigger to compensate multiple injuries during the useless international matches that nobody cares about.
