Now, just to cheer you up, because that's why I m here as you know, I will say this...I don't think you'll be relegated this season.

However, if you are, I honestly believe you will be able to get a play-off spot in the Championship next year, if you keep your best players! (whoever they are).

Macca, thanks for the info on who Liverpool want to sign in the summer. I have spread the word, and clubs around Europe will put a cheeky bid in for Muniain and Soldado, just to push their price up...rookie mistake, but that's the price you pay for being mouthy (unless you are BS ing you adoring fans in an attempt to prove your authenticity).

But somehow I think a real Liverpool fan who is privy to real inside info wouldn't turn informant and present it as fact on the internet.

Anyway, lets assume I have joined you fantasy world, no doubt Sir Alex x will drop you a few quid for the heads up! Ha Ha

Eric Banterna

I agree eric, but i am worried about the standard of football in the championship with liverpool there..
i think they will end up like forest with kenny being the new clough.
a .wenger

Arsenal 7 years and counting

Eric, how do you know that Macca hasn't put out miss information, just to throw others off the track. Getting people like you to rush it round other clubs in your dislike for Liverpool.

You say yourself you've put it out at all the other clubs, so you are not in ''a fantasy World'' you've acted on things you've read on the Internet. If so and Liverpool sign other players not Soldado and Munian, you should consider asking for a percentage, God knows you'll have earned it. ;)

It's good to see you enjoying some banter, Eric. It's much better than the moody, enigmatic persona you tried to adopt when playing. You were only a footballer, so it looked a bit silly. A bit like playing with your collars up at your age.
When you finished playing- prematurely, if I remember- I envisaged you growing a beard, doing films and trying to be all arty. It's good that didn't happen and you ended up living in the real world. You'd have been out of your depth, anyway. And remember some good old fashioned advice, "when the seagull follows the trawler........."
Rigsby.

When you finished playing

alright eds,

bit of trivia for you as i am stumped ... If chelsea finish 6th and meet liverpool in the fa cup final and we go on to win ... who is it that gets the europa league spot ... is it chelsea or is it cardiff ?

alot of ifs but it would be hilarious to see chelsea out of europe entirely!

ps macca is a legend for all his insider knowledge as are you eds!!

LFC4EVANEVA {Ed002's Note - It is Chelsea.}

Chelski but we would go straight into the group stages.

How many years have we said

" This year is our year "

Tommorow is a must win
As is Saturday

LTP the red

3 seasons in terms of top three, but more than 20 for the league. no more excuses next season. the goal should NEVER be 4th spot. it should be first until that is out of reach then 2nd and 3rd. 4th should only EVER be pursued in the last 3-4 games.

Bang on,sickve hearing about 4th.As Shanks said-1st is 1st,2nd nowhere

09 Apr 2012 23:12:24
Eds, do you expect Kenny to rest a few players tomorrow ahead of saturday or do you think he'll play a strong team (in other words, our best 11)?
Thanks {Ed001's Note - probably a few rested I would expect.}

I'm becoming tired of reading 'what can we offer players' 'why would good players want to come to us' that is the job of the hierarchy! What do you think we did to get Suarez? We have probably one of the best P.R. teams courtesy of the owners. Do you not think it would be in their interest to sell the club to players that would better the position of the team?
Would players like demba ba not improve us? Or van Der vart? They were bought by teams that had less to offer (at the time of signing)
As for Dalglish, I am one of those that didn't want him, deschamps or pelligrini were my choice. But the 'liverpool way' is to shut up & put up until the owners think otherwise! All this whinning is doing is compounding your own frustrations. Were not gonna strip the team down, probably replace ones already outgoing and bring in 1 or 2 extras, what we actually need is a finishing coach and tactics to accommodate the players we have! And those saying anybody other than the manager are to blame for carroll, downing, henderson & Adam, they were identified by dalglish whilst in the academy the owners & comolli just backed him. This summer should be chosen by the scouts!

''Adam was backed by Dalglish, when he was in the Academy''

Nah, Adam was in Scotland when Dalglish was in the Academy, for me that doesn't make sense, agree with a lot of what you type, ut it's just opinion, as is mine.

Seems to be a distinct lack of spuds and chavski fans on here tonight, I wonder why?
They've had so much to say lately and yet...

Speaks volumes..

Lee YNWA

A draw away at Fulham is a steady result, whats the problem, its not one to brag about but its not one to ridicule. So get your tracksuits on, comb your moustaches and go for a jog

SHED END

They only sing when they're winning.

I've found it funny Melbourne CFC is over on the Chelsea site winging like a stuck pig after claiming Chelski were moving up and into the Champions League places earlier on the Liverpool site. :)

''09 Apr 2012 21:53:22
Absolutely disgusted with that game. Fulham deserved the 3 points. We do NOT deserve champions league footy next term. Disgrace. Will always support the team and look for positives but today there was no 1 player who put in more than 60% effort.

Melbourne CFC''

:D

Didn't look very good did they Melbourne.
Torres hot streak!! Maybe over

Andy Carroll we belive in you. Keep the faith man. Gomez turned his career around at Bayern and became arguably the best centre forward in the world. I'm confident you can do the same too at Liverpool FC! {Ed016's Note - We can hope, I have defended him all season but it just does not look like his heart is in it}

Cut your losses and reinvest in soldado and perhaps a young centre forward with serious potential say 8-12 million providing you get decent money for the big man

I think we should hang on too Carroll, he's struggling but who isn't?

He hasn't done enough by a long shot, obviously but we'll never get good money back for him, Ngog played 80 something times for Liverpool, Let's push Carroll and see how he does when things are more positive.

Many have blamed him all season, just like Chelsea blame Torres, it's a lack of confidence and a lot of pressure on both of them. I think Carroll's extremely nervous, as is Henderson. They're struggling to enjoy their football, that's not good. Patience, Ed's stick with it n' all. :) A storm and a silver lining, anyone?

Your acting as if Gomez wasn't prolific before he went to Bayern Munich

Well Carroll was prolific before he came to Liverpool so what's your point?

It is a tough one but id keep hold of carrol - as long as his attitude on the pitch gets better. if we make a few " big " signings in the summer then hopefully this will take a bit of pressure of him and along with a summer off, then he may come back like the player he was at newcastle. you just know that if we sell him now he will end up coming good!
jg.

Prolific in the championship doesn't make you worth 35 million

As were all entitled to opinions on a new manager if kenny goes, some say when not if lol any way someone mention the special one as he likes to be called coming and one of the ed's said no chance which is probs right but that guy has one hell of an ego and might think to himself if I can do it at liverpool then I'm the greatest hey it's just my opinion, cheers pk

One key difference between Mourinho and Kenny is that Kenny believes that the club is more important than he is.
He knows is a servant to the club and it's fans, and he will put his own needs aside if necessary to get the club playing good football.

Mourinho wants what is right for himself, and to feed his ego. Yes he is a winner and with a few bob to spend, he could definitely get LFC back into the CL at least.
But I also think Kenny can get us there too, given a couple more key players- notably someone who can finish.

I just don't want a manager at LFC who thinks he is more important than the club. It boils down to whether you just want success at any price, I guess.

Kenny had the chance to buy a finisher but didn't do so, I think if we lose on Saturday then kenny could/should leave come summer time.
Under kenny we will never play CL football, he's tactics are really poor. If we made CL under Kenny ( and that's a Very BIG If) we would get crushed by other teams due to tactically superior managers.

Just thought I'd point out that we will finish at least 40-45 points behind Utd this season and and maybe as low as 12th. Can't say that I have any confidence that this will be rectified to any degree by the present management team next season. Ps Kenny was my childhood hero and always will be but it would be delusional to think that we have made any kind of progress this season. And before somebody mentions the Carling Cup Birmingham won that and went down so it's not the most reliable indicator of progress.

Its sad to see how far we are behind to top teams, even Newcastle 16 points ahead.
Not sure if you can call that progress.
We are just a c*ap team at the moment.
Nuff said.

To be honest, I really don't think we need a squad overhaul this summer. I think we're being really impatient to accept great things of these players at the moment and just need to give them time.

I wouldn't sell any of the recruits under the Dalglish era bar maybe Adam and would buy maybe Mertens for £10m and then Eriksen if he would come to us. If not Montolivo for £6m.

09 Apr 2012 21:59:43
I think Liverpool are very close to being a top four team, they just lack that cutting edge in the final third. I think we should sign adam johnson for right wing, gaston ramirez for a bit of creativity and roberto soldado to play up front with carroll. We could also add some further additions ie luuk de jong and possibly sell maxi, adam etc

09 Apr 2012 21:57:48
Starting lineup I'd like to see for the rest of the season....

------- Doni (pepe when eligible)-----------

Kelly - Skrtel - Agger - Flannagan

Sterling - Suso - Coady - Bellamy

--------- Gerrard -----------------

--------- Suarez -----------------

Subs:
Carrol, Kuyt, Downing, Henderson, Coates, Robinson, Eccleston

FatJanMolby

I would tinker your eleven by swapping suso and gerrard their for taking a little pressure off him allowing him to relax and go and play

You can't just integrate 3 youngsters in midfield! that's a recipe for disaster mate! a few cameos yeah but not all at once!

You forgot.
Ballboy: A Carroll.

09 Apr 2012 21:50:26
If Dirk does leave this summer, Clint Dempsey would be an excellent replacement! Also nice to see Kacaniklic (sp) get some game time, did not understand us letting 2 of our young talents go to Fulham as part of the Konchesky deal...

just a point i would like to make as regard to the dalglish out brigade . i think the older suporters and by this i mean born late sixties/early seventies possibly have the advantage of seeing us win everything, therefore we are more patient than say fans born in late eighties/early nineties, i think this is endemic of the way the world is now , everything is instant and can be bought , just think the patient fans are probably older in age . istanbul changed the face of fans overnite and i experianced this in athens ,many supporters just wanted thier bit of glory , their day in the sun and now succsess has eluded us these same fans are bieng critical because there not getting what they expect .
i just think really if ferguson and wenger or even moyes walked into anfield to manage lfc after dalglish they wouldnt last no more than two seasons with our newest dare i say younger generation of supporter, just think its sad that kenny gets the stick he does and most supporters know the man has deep feelings for the club the players and the supporters ,we at least owe him time because i for one think we are not far away ,just a couple of players short , redello

Completely agree and i'm 15

Rubbish!

I'm 21 years old and even I feel like a 40 year old fan from the posts on here! Remember kids, patience is a virtue...

McSnuggles

I'm 20, started supporting when Mellor hit a 92nd minute winner against Arsenal in 04-05...the age thing works both ways, you'll find the younger you are and with more time on your side, patience walks hand in hand...and having seen the glory days many older fans may be 'expecting' but unfortunately with the way of the world as it is, busy paced and competition with not time to spare, people have forgotten the virtue of patience across all spectra... I'm doing my coaching licenses shortly so wish me luck, i'll need it in this day and age
Give Kenny time and support, anyone for that matter of fact, and it will breed success
NextGenRed

Well said mate- there is an age factor but its more than that.
The guys who used to whinge at their mates in the pub about how bad a player was now do it here, more publicly, and in their hundreds, and it gives a falsely negative impression about supporters.

LFC runs through Kenny's blood- he believes in the club like no other manager in the last 20 years- and I think he has what it takes to turn things around, if he's given another season.

I'm 18 but I don't think this has much to do with age, just thinking. Anyone can see that before this awful run we've been playing good football, just not been getting the results in the league. Our squad is not far from being top 4 material, as long as we buy smartly. If we don't buy wisely, that will be a problem which will need solving by changing the manager or Comolli or whatever. But if we sign the players we need, we will be fine. It's also obvious that the best clubs generally either spend exorbitant amounts of money (Real Madrid, City, Chelsea) or keep faith in their managers for more than one season (Arsenal, United, Barcelona)

Red Ollie

Ha, ha.
I am 45 and don't know what to think anymore, can't recall it being this bad.
Pumpkin Express.

I have been a Liverpool fan so long I can actually remember Kenny joining the club.

But I have to admit I am now becoming impatient. Maybe because we have not won the title in nearly a quarter of a century. Maybe because we are now farther away than ever before. We will finish about FORTY points behind United.

If this is where "just be patient" has gotten us, perhaps we need a new approach . . .

09 Apr 2012 21:45:18
Just watching Fulham v Chelski.
I'm not saying we would get him but what a superb player Clint Dempsey is!
His passing and vision is fantastic and he scores for fun.
I've been a long-time admirer of the player and would love to see him at Anfield.
ANFIELDPETE

You have to hand it to Dempsey, he came from rather humble beginnings, a trailer park and Texas is hardly a "soccer" hotbed.

Like him but seems to similar like the players we bought last year which have mostly flopped

Dempsey would be a perfect signing for us, provided we tie up a striker and winger as well

Red Ollie

Guy is a winner. Best outfield player ever to come out of the U.S.

hi

just wondering when you think liverpool will start playing our young players? i think its pointless paying millions on rubbish. we need to go for some young talented players with players like gerrard and suarez. Also we need to sell carrol 35 million the players we could of bought with that money and we got a donkey
cheers

What players? The ones that we bid for before Carroll, that were all rejected!?

We sold Torres, who didn't want to be here, and needed a striker. Carroll was at least second or third choice on the list.

Gah, when will people learn!

McSnuggles

We sold torres who didnt want to be at liverpool, and bought a 35 million pnd donkey who didnt want to be here either.

to be honest anyone from the spanish league who plays in europa or champs league would be very good players in the premier league

I feel like Borja Valero might have something to say about that, considering his time at Blackburn was a nightmare... But he runs the midfield for Villarreal and has a lot of quality (well, maybe not so much this year as a whole team for the Yellow Submarine...)

We shouldn't buy from a league to just buy players, though.

McSnuggles {Ed001's Note - wasn't Valero at West Brom?}

Could be, Ed, but I really can't tell ya and it's 2:15 on this side of the pond...

Why don't you have a Fulham page Eds? {Ed002's Note - Are you a fulham fan? Do you know the other one?}

Speaking of fulham, we should take dempsey and dembele

! Ed002 needed that.

Square tomato

There ate at least 4 players at fulham that would get straight into our starting 11. Depressing.

Luke

I know they're quite low in the league but they should be a top ten if not top 8 side for me. Jol is doing a fantastic job with an average defence and a small squad. Fair play to them.

09 Apr 2012 20:56:32
Ed wot happend with granero still any interest do u think he is good enough {Ed002's Note - Granero is surplus to long-term requirements in Madrid and will likely leave the summer. Granero could interest any number of clubs and may be used as a makeweight in a transfer. Only solid interest at this time has been from Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla back in January but unsubstantiated rumours have linked him to Liverpool and Espanyol as well but there is no confirmation of either clubs interest.}

We should buy him as his talent is wasted in real madrid.

09 Apr 2012 20:47:54
Adam Henderson downing can be good squad players. Don't forget Liverpool apsaloutly destroyed teams early in the season with these guys playing, just couldn't finish teams off...
We do need to replace them but not sell them.
get rid of Carroll he acts like he's a top top player, bad attitude! He should be busting a nut to try get in the team. He's a joke. Keep the rest just sign some much better quality players.

09 Apr 2012 20:47:31
I was on my Driver Cpc course for the week of the newcastle game near catterick, the geordie instructor came in on the monday rubbed my nose in it, and said one of his friends (Carrolls aunt) had said he stayed at his mum and dads after the game and was in bits crying at the reception he got from his old club?

also he said carroll wanted to go back in the transfer window newcastle would only pay £10m max Liverpool wanted atleast £20m

wouldnt take this as gospel just what i was told?

Does anyone know why we seen sterling for 15 mins in the first team a couple of games ago and has't been been on the bench since.. i thought he brought great energy to the team and crowd when he came on .. surely he deserves a chance we have nothing to lose as regards the league..

Lfc89

I have to agree with this, especially with the fa cup semi coming up. Give Kenny a chance to rest some key players tomorrow and decrease the chance of suspensions and injuries, I know we're playing for pride in the league, but Sterling didn't look half bad when he came on and I think he could hold his own.

Did you see kompanys tackle on walcott? That would have broke sterling into to. Fellani is just a hard tackler as kompany, sterling would be a chew toy for the bigger players.

Okay so how is spearing in the team if size matters and what about messi probably the greatest player to ever grace a pitch he is built like a house isnt he ? along with maradonna who was hardly a monster.,.

lfc89

Could happpen to anyone...sterling is not going to get any bigger, and beefing him up will only slow him down, sterling wants to play, fans want him to play, now is as good as time as any!
TheJazz

I believe Iker Munian played at 16 too and he is also small in stature,

Sterling gets knocked off the ball by kids his own age and similarly sized so easily, I can't imagine what a challenge from a premiership enforcer could do to him..

McSnuggles

Lfc89, Spearing is a tough individual who dishes as good as he gets, if not better. It's his style. Messi is SPECIAL, I don't understand how people try to compare anyone to him... Sterling is just a lad with a lot of physical growing up to do, not to mention his football IQ needs to improve dramatically! That being said, he's so young, he has the potential and drive to do it all and I think he can. Just wait.

McSnuggles

Mcsnuggles..obviously he has alot of growing up to do but should atleast be on the bench and worked into the team and yes he is no messi BUT i believe messi had to start somewhere and was just using him as an example of how a small player can become a great player .. and i wasnt knocking spearing i was saying he is small but yet still gets first team football HENCE size doesnt always matter..

lfc89

Sterling is a lover, not a fighter.
Ask those two 'knocked up' lasses.
Ha, ha.

What's with people slating Rafa Benitez everytime he's mentioned ? If he ever came back to LFC in any capacity i'd be rather pleased.

All i'm reading is "But Rafa bought (Player A and Player B)".

Yes he's bought bad players, as Houllier, Hodgson and Kenny have in recent(ish) history.

Half of you seem to forget he assembled (in my opinion) the best team i've seen us have in my years as a supporter, i bet you weren't slating him when we had a midfield 3 of Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano feeding Torres and running games.

" He won the 2005 EC with Houlliers team" I didn't see Houllier turn Djimi Traore and Igor Biscan into champions league winners that night, you manage what you have at your disposal. Compare that team to the one that lined up against Milan 2 years later for example if you want a measure of what he helped us achieve while he was here, as well as fighting the owners far before the whole fiasco of the club being in the mire they put it in.

Hope this gets posted and jog's some memories, get behind the team.

JP

Absolutely spot on, makes me sick gearing people always slaggin him off when he kept us challenging at the top end and bought technically gifted players on the cheap, as for dalglish and the british talents he bought, what a waste of money that will go down in history. RedTurk

Cheers RedTurk, agree about the British based talent but the fair play rules are coming into play so it kind of makes sense, we were just in the wrong position at the time to attract any better homegrown players. I also hope Carroll goes asap after the stunts he pulled at the Newcastle game.

JP

I'm a big Benitez fan. Some of the transfers he made were way off the mark (El Zhar, Degen and Voronin to name a few) but its worth remembering that if he had had his way we would have tried to sign Dani Alves, David Villa, David Silva and Simao.

Also under Benitez we were, and he never seems to get much credit for this, the top ranked team in Europe for 2 years. We were never dominant in the same way as Barcelona are now but apart from United and Bayern Munich I can't really think of any big European clubs we didn't beat over 2 legs.

Yes the league form was indifferent, and we were too defensive too often, but with the signings he wanted to make, that could have been different.

Rafa did a lot of good for the club in general, he set up the academy in such a way that we will benefit in a couple of years, he brought Kenny back into the club in an official capacity and he did a lot of work for the Hillsborough charities. There aren't many managers who would donate £96 000 to a charity associated with a club which had just sacked them.

I'm not saying I'm desperate for Benitez back now, but I think if Kenny steps aside he should be considered a valid candidate. A lot of the squad are the same as when he was in charge, and there aren't many CL winning managers knocking around who would jump at the chance to manage LFC no matter what.

Fingers crossed we can get a good result against Blackburn tomorrow and build some confidence before the weekend.

James

For Me one of the biggest reasons we won the cl and the fa cup the yr after was down to S.Gerrard, any manager wud of had him in the team. Ild hate to go back to Zonal marking and constant rotating. How many times did he actually get us into the cl ?

Hi eds......... Firstly I'd like to say excellant site I am a long time reader first time poster.

My question or theory is- obviously we do need to be looking for replacements and out an out wingers strikers and I have read people talking about marko marin but in my opinion he is not as good as mario gotze of dortmund I think this player has far more to offer and could be 10x the player kuyt has been.

As for a striker we need someone who has a faster brain to keep up with suarez as andy carroll just can't cut it and you see the frustration suarez has on the pitch. Iknow alot of people have put cavani but frankly they need to wake up!! However olivier giroud or mario gomez are 2 of europes top strikers on stats at the moment and if they arrived then next season would see a big change from this dire one. The players would definately suit our style of pass and move football.

Replies are welcome as I would like to know what people think to my views good or bad.

Thanks Kyle. {Ed002's Note - Goetze is not and never has been an option.}}

Arsenal keep getting linked with Goetze, but it's water torture for Arsenal fans, when is Wenger going to splash out £40 million on one player?

A German lad i live with said Real Madrid are the only team he'll end up going too, if he is the player to replace Kaka. He was convinced that ''Goetze is not a Bayern player'' Just his opinions. {Ed002's Note - Goetze has signed a contract extension already. He was never in my view going to move to Arsenal this summer.}

I think the reason why ED002 says that Mourinho will never manage liverpool is that in 2004 Mourinho had publicly stated his desire to Manage liverpool and said that the Chelsea job did not interest him. But the liverpool board overlooked him and appointed rafa as manager. Hence, the rivalry between rafa and jose and hence, the reason he says he will never again manage liverpool.

Sunny

Which rogue in a bar told u this chief?

Derry Dan

"Liverpool are a team that interests everyone and Chelsea does not interest me so much because it is a new project with lots of money invested in it. I think it is a project which, if the club fail to win everything, then [Roman] Abramovich could retire and take the money out of the club. It's an uncertain project. It is interesting for a coach to have the money to hire quality players but you never know if a project like this will bring success"

Google this mate. Probably you would understand where I am coming from.

Sunny

This is very true! Mourinho did have his heart set on LFC in 2004 only for Rafa to pip him to the job! he did come out and say he would never manage LFC! but that was the Moore's regime so you never know! but i think it's a forgone conclusion that Rafa will take charge in the beginning of june!

how good is roberto soldado ? granted i havent watched him alot but when i have he hasnt scored and looks very lightweight

he's scored 16 goals in 29 la liga games which isnt too bad

would he be a good buy ?

Fox in the box.

Sounds good, well its defo what we have needed this season

The answer to our problems this season scores goals for the Craic

Spackmans said Kenny maybe aint a Coach, well what is he?Cos man management aint working. But it cant be all one mans fault-Whats Clarke,Keen, and for that matter Commoli doing?

09 Apr 2012 19:46:19
do you expect Kenny to ring the Changes tomorow and rest key players for the Semi Moyes rested 2 of his today or do you expect the strongest line up possible will start?

RED87

If i was gaffer i would play the strongest team possible tomorrow, no one in the side at the moment deserves a guaranteed place in the semi line up, so they should go out and earn it with a win at Blackburn tomorrow.

I know it's controversial but i think we should play Carroll until the end of the season.

More controversial still, i think we need to play Gerrard on the right wing to put the crosses in. Henderson and Shelvey in the middle and Downing or Bellamy on the left, with Suarez just off of Carroll to link with Gerrard on the right.

If Agger is fit then he goes straight in with Skertl, Enrique on the left and pending on who's fit either Kelly, Johnson or Flanno.

I think this would engineer the team to be more forthright in attack, Gerrard has an awesome cross and looked very threatening in the last 20 minutes against Villa and helped cross for the equaliser.

If this lot at LFC dont or cant put it in-Fook off! And STOP letting us down

We as fans are also letting them down though, we are not supporting the best we can. Even when we win games there is negativity and whinging, that has to stop.

Were all blaming Kenny and rightly to degree. But what the fook are Clarke,Keen and co doing?

The players should take responsibility for under performing for the majority of the season. Kenny has them playing positive football, we've controlled many of our matches but we struggle finishing off chances.

The loss at Arsenal killed the boys confidence, Wigan and Newcastle only added to the down beat feel.

Hi Eds & Reds,

Having watched another dross performance on Saturday, id like to make the following comments on our season so far:

1) Lack of passion - is it me or has there been a complete lack of passion about the team this season. A lack of cofidence, definitley, but stop feeling sorry for yourselfs and get on with it, any player who feels the need to think about their Anfield future this summer, Kuyt included, great servant, great work rate, but jog on, dont slam door behind you, Your either committed or not. Simple, you wear that red shirt with pride and passion and work your arse off week in week out

2) Henderson - played out of position on right, hes a natural atm, .

Downing : Sublime at times, S**t mjority of time, too inconsistent, barely capable of crossong his own legs at times let alone a cross!

Carroll: we need to play to his strenghts, hes 6'4" and built a brick s#!t house, put the ball on his head ffs! playing to his feet not his game

Suarez: World class, but not enough goal return

Adam: not good enough, was a big fish in a small pond at blackpool, not living to his reputation or pricve tag.

Lucas: his absence been more of a loss than Gerrards this season, future captain for me.

3) Daglish ; For me he is the man for us, unfortunately hes been let down by a bunch of spoiled brats. I think he has to harder on the players.

4) Fair play to Newcastle, i actually hope they get champs league they deserve it thoroughly, Pardew surely a contender for manager of the season, maybe we should make a bid for their scouting team!

5) Enough bitching and moaning, get behind your team folks. YNWA

Kenny defo not hard enough on them

Spot on about lucas, we have suffered badly in his absence

Agree with most of your points except Suarez, he is very good, but i can not think of a "world class" striker who doesn't score.

G BOX

G BOX, he is not an out an out striker, imo he's more like a creative attacking midfielder

Or a centre forward

Suarez is world class but he isn't a striker hi more of a traditional number 10 who needs a partner he creates far more than he finishes

09 Apr 2012 19:12:01
ed can i ask the question what would happen if we would of started with the man utd squad and they had ours. {Ed002's Note - Sure you can ask it - I am not sure you will get any serious answers.}

Suarez would have been sold in January.

the homegrown rule is having a negative effect on english football. instead of producing 10-15 world class english players we'll end up with 400 average english players playing in the 4th or 5th best league in europe

There's no doubt about it that the foreign players make the EPL. Even if you take Liverpool our best players are Agger,Lucas & Suarez etc. There are good homegrown players, but only some.

I am a long-term Liverpool fan, I was a fan before the first Dalglish management era. Here is my take on the current predicament the club finds itself in.
In my opinion, our problems co-incided with the "Suarez race row". I don't want to go into the blame game with that but I believe the club and the manager handled it poorly.
I love King Kenny and don't think we will make progress if he is not manager next season. I think Suarez is a brilliant player but I think he may leave in the summer and this might be the way forward for the club. There is a cloud over the squad created by the race row. I think Fergie and his media cronies played a huge part in milking the situation and destroying our season which is utterly disgraceful considering the sensitivity of the row. Before the race row, Kenny's 2nd reign was flying. we weren't finishing our chances, but we were dominating games and tight at the back.
Kenny should stay. He will be ruthless this summer. I believe he will cut Suarez, Carroll, Johnson and Adam from the first team. He will also let Kuyt, cole, Aquillani and Maxi go. The money will be wisely reinvested. Carroll was an impulse buy after we were left in the lurch by Torres. It hasn't worked out, he doesn't understand the Liverpool way and he is not going to make it. Adam is short of quality and will be moved on. Johnson has never appreciated the art of defending and his positional sense has been non-existant his whole career. His stock is high and now is the time to bring Kelly through. Henderson needs to be played in centre mid. Investment needs to be made on the strikers. Kenny will have the time and resources to get it right this time. A right winger will also be brought in, Matt Phillips or James Forrest look good options. Downing will come good, his is a consistent performer who has needed this season to settle in. It doesn't help that he's been moved around in position this season.

In short I think the clubs owners would be mad to let Kenny go. If anyone is good enough to sort the team out it's Kenny. He's been panned by the media since the race row. Before that he was revered by the media who recognised his status, as soon as they smelt blood they went for him. True fans would not be swayed by the media hacks, Kenny has the experience, the quality, the passion and the hunger to sort things out.
We need to stick together, not jump from manager to manager like Chelsea. There is huge potential at the club, we are not as far off as the table says.

The Quaggar

So happy i just read that, thanks man.

Post of the season mate, totally concur.
I think we may be similar age and time following the reds and you've hit the nail on the head about the turning point of the season.
I love Suarez but he is one of those players that if he played for a rival we'd all be slating his behaviour. He's an incredible talent but temperament is suspect, too easy to wind up and chasing refs for every decision.
If he leaves the money must be well spent on 2 strikers that compliment each other.
I hope Kenny stays and Suarez and Johnson move on for big money. If I had to chose between Louis and KK it's a no brainer, great player though he is Louis causes too many issues for his team mates, manager and the club as a whole.
I take no pleasure in saying it as clearly Louis is the most talented player in our squad however it's been said many times on this forum Liverpool football club is bigger than any individual. If we here

Sorry typo on the phone pad before I'd finished the above post. I was going to finish by saying that we moved on to greatness even after the one and only Bill Shankly stepped down so we can move on from losing any player, even a Louis Suarez or Steven Gerrard for that matter.
ALB.

We cant blame fergie for kennys and the clubs bad handling of the race row, kenny accused evra of not being a credible witness and questioned how suarez could be charged on evra's word alone, kenny should have waited for the evidence, the two main witnesses were kuyt and comolli without their statements suarez would never have being charged, after all this happened suarez made all this worse by not shaking evra's hand and putting an end to the matter.

Spot on Quagger.

Ozone

Every LFC fan should read this.

Thats the most optimistic post ive ever read...any manager with a record of 1 win in 9 is not good enough, period.

If we stick with Kenny he will not get rid of Carroll or Adam because what sort of message would that send to the owners if he sells on players he only just bought?

Nobodys gonna pay even close to 35million for carroll anyway and the americans are not gonna take a hit on a player they only recently purchased, successful businesses cannot run like that.

Kennys in a difficult situation. He's far too nice and it makes me appreciate Benitez's cold, direct style of management because at least it kept all the players on a constant knife edge.

The players have lost respect for kenny and this was evident when gerrard told KD to get off the pitch against newcastle.

Kenny has to go. I dont think the owners wanted him in the first place and thats why commolli was appointed. If we had mourinho or benitez as manager commolli would not have been given a job...i believe he was only taken on because the owners didnt have complete faith in Kenny especially as far as transfers and they have been proved right.

You guys really gotta stop lickin KD's bum cheeks, im not being funny but if it was any other manager you'd be calling for his head...Kennys record this season bar the cups is worst than Hodgsons, its not good enough.

Its all about risk. Do we carry on into next season with him and risk more bad buys in the summer and no top 4 again, or do we cut our losses now and break the bank for benitez or mourinho who will guarantee top 4 next year if they have money to spend.

Come on guys we need Kenny out, he's out of his depth.

James Blond

James Blond is a tool and great post Quaggar. I feel that the constant 'kenny out', 'time to go', 'he's out of his depth', 'bring back rafa' nonsense isnt helping anyone. We should support everyone at the club, players and management until the end of the season and let the owners decide what they believe is in the best interest of the club, because seriously guys we're starting to get a reputationa as being whiney little sods. So support the club as best we can lads.
YNWA

"I believe he will cut Suarez, Carroll, Johnson and Adam"

Here is the problem. Three of them are players Kenny bought. So why will owners give him more time and money?

"The money will be wisely reinvested".

I would love it to be true. But how can we fans or owners believe this?

Why is everything moaning today, we haven't played today and what's happening with Everton and Newcastle makes no odds to our season now. All we need to do is get some confidence back, start playing like a united team again and focus solely on Saturday.

Everyone wanting Kenny out now, just give it to the end of the season the owners will make their decision (they own the club, not us so it's their decision) and then we can debate everything in detail. I like talk of players and banter with others but constant moaning for no real reason is getting us nowhere.

Please post as it is aimed at the dillusionals,

you can all spout off that we should sign this player and that player, but given the fact we r in such a poor position, who will want to play for us,

i remember the second half in Istanbul, and no matter how much money that could have been thrown at those players, PASSION for the club and the Pride at wearing it got us through to win,

Where the hell is it now, 35 million on a donkey, a few joke signings, o and were going to finish BELOW everton....

ok we have the carling cup, but i'd trade that for the fa cup, and 4th in the league, but we dont deserve 4th, we wouldn't do much.

I˜ve come up with this list of players we should be looking at for next season. I've taken into account that these teams aren't in greatest positions in their respected leagues and presents a good chance for us to take advantage...

## Inter Milan “ 7th in Serie A ##
Diego Milito “ Age: 32, 20 goals this season.
Philippe Coutinho (on loan at Espanyol) “ Age: 19, Attacking Midfielder/ Right Midfielder.

## Napoli “ 5th in Serie A ##
Edinson Cavani “ Age: 25, 28 goals this season.

## Athletico Madrid “ 7th in LaLiga ##
Arda Turan “ Attacking Mid, Age: 25, 3 goals this season.

Diego {on loan at Athletico from Wolfsburg (currently 9th in Bundesliga)} “ Attacking Mid, Age: 27.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang “ Age: 22, 11 goals this season.

Stephane Mbia “ Age: 25, Defensive Midfielder.
Mathieu Valbuena “ Age: 27, Creative Midfielder.

## Lyon “ 4th in Ligue 1 ##
Yoann Gourcuff “ Age: 25 Attacking Midfielder.
Michel Bastos “ Age: 28, Left Winger

## Werder Bremen “ 7th in Budesliga ##
Marko Marin “ Age: 23, Attacking Midfielder.

## Swansea City “ 14th in Premier League ##
Nathan Dyer “ Age: 24, Attacking Midfielder.
Joe Allen “ Age: 22, Creative Midfielder.

## Newcastle United “ 6th in Premier League ##
Cheick Tiote “ Age: 25, Defensive Midfielder.
Demba Ba “ Age: 26, 16 Goals this season.

## Sunderland “ 9th in the Premier League ##
Stephane Sessegnon “ Age: 27, Midfielder.

## Fulham “ 10th in Premier League ##
Moussa Dembele “ Age: 24, Midfielder.
Clint Dempsey “ Age: 29, Midfield/Striker, 21 goals this season.

Alot of these players are better than what we have at the club and could be available for cut-down prices. There are other players like Soldado, Torres, Suarez (Anderlecht) aswell that could be available but i went for the most likely.

Rocky {Ed002's Note - The most likely eh?}

Thought you learned your lesson with Carroll Tiote will cost 30 million and doesnt want to go Ba hasnt scored since he came back from ANC and will go to PSG if anyone

toon kidder

Most likely targets this summer yes... I dont think Soldado will trade Champions League football for us IMO as suggested by some, no chance... We'll see in the summer, just wanted to see what people thought of the list i put together.

Those moaning about the lad Henderson (all idiots), he's got more class about him than spearing who is again a good player he's also younger than him, added to this he's played over 100 pl games compared to the 40+ spearing has. He doesn't ATM reach the £20m Mark far from it but I'm guessing ATM we've only paid 10m so far get of his back! When he plays central he shows it but knowone has impacted the game on our right side since Garcia even he only picked his games. Let him get some confidence and relax maybe even sing his name he'll grow into his boots

Couldn't agree more, hendo will improve, has good passing, great workrate, he was sprinting around making tackles in the 94' minute vs.Villa. I personally can't watch another minute of Spearing or Adam.

He was sprinting around in the 94th minute? Why didn't he sprint to close down the player he was supposed to be marking for the Villa goal? A free shot in the 18 yard box at this level is scandelous... Maybe next season Henderson will play a forward pass, also he may be young but Suso and Adorjan have much more potential than he has, £16m is the price we paid for Henderson by the way NOT £20m

Its been a terrible season, and the only thing that can save Kenny is the FA cup. If we lose, I hope the owners take action and get someone in quickly so he can have time to assess the squad and bring players in over summer. Look at the table you deluded Dalglish loyalists FFS. Hi,

I've sat & watched comments on this site over the last few years, I'm Absolutly baffled by people's comments of late.
Everytime there is a faint whisper of a player we are interested in the site goes crazy asking the same question over & over again.
This happened for Carroll-downing-Henderson & particularly Adam! Now all of a sudden kenny is an person & useless for signing them! You should all be ashamed. Yes mistakes have been made there is no denying that we have over paid on the wrong players! What I can't understand is kenny taking the full brunt of so called fans anger, damien camoli is employed to oversee all scouting & transfers & find us the very best young talent! Has anybody seen or herd of him for months?

No me either!! Funny that isn't it

Yeap commoli and kk surely responsible

09 Apr 2012 18:31:43
For all the panic merchants on here, there is an article on the BBC website today worth Reading. When kenny was at Blackburn he spent massivly and exactly 20 years ago this week a run of 6 consecutive losses came to an end with a draw. At the time everybody was saying he should be sacked as he wasn't up to the job.
3 years later he won the premiership with them.
For the record I am a massive rafa fan and would love to see kenny get him involved, but let's give kenny a chance.
18 months of rebuilding and calling for his head is a joke.
All he's asked for is a chance, I think we owe him that.

You my friend, are a typical armchair, match of the day, supporter.Henderson actually has a great range of passing.Keeping possession of the ball is actually what makes Barcelona the greatest club side in the world, and Xavi and Iniesta don't spread the ball about all the time, they play it simple. If we had more players with the same touch and technique has Henderson, then we would be better at controlling the game from midfield.Henderson with Lucas would be a great platform for the future. He had a really good game on Saturday passing the ball in all directions.I watched him for 90 minutes, and not for five minutes on the BBC .You can believe what you hear. I believe what I see. After Saturday we should see more of Hendo in the Centre Midfield position.

Why are most fans ask for Kenny to go? Kenny is doing his best to keep the club united. It will take time to get things right. Do not forget the state that the club was in before Kenny arrived. A huge wage bill for the flops etc, etc. Kenny off loaded lots of flops and reduced the wage bill. OK he bought carol and Henderson and things did not work out. Kenny is a manager not a magician. What I do like about Kenny he never put his players down.
How do you want LFC to become.Like Man U where the players play with fear because of the manager or play with passion for the club.
We had a poor run OK.So did Spurs I did not hear their fan to say sack Harry.

Re: How do you want LFC to become.Like Man U where the players play with fear because of the manager or play with passion for the club.

The most ridiculous statement posted here in a while, and there have been many. I'm a Liverpool fan for 38 years and have to say if the players did fear their position in the club they might just play better than they have. As for passion, don't be so stupid, every player who steps on any pitch to represent Utd. play with some of the best passion the game has seen in the last 20 years. Perhaps if some Liverpool players really had passion for the club they would fear letting themselves and the fans down and not put in awful performances.

Quick Question for ya Ed. Has Mourinho ever stated he would never manage Liverpool?
(irishred) {Ed002's Note - He has said all sorts of things but I would not rely on Mourinho ever becoming Liverpool manager.}

Ed002 Do you know this as a fact, or is it just your opinion? {Ed002's Note - This has all been discussed at length before. We are not interested in opening it up again.}

Thought that would be your answer. In my opinion, he wouldn't manage LFC because he was overlooked in favour of Rafa, but did go to Chelsea were he was indeed a success. {Ed002's Note - That is part of it.}

Enough with the 'boring football' we've been playing this season. We need flair, we need speed and we most of all need a playmaker. I know we will reach the top again, no doubt in my mind. Enough with these over priced english players. Sell em all. Downing, Henderson, Adam, Carroll. In my opinion they are not good enough for LFC. Look outside the UK.

And then how do will fill the homegrown quota smart apse?

Gerrard
Carra
Kelly
Johnson
Jones
Spearing
Eccleston
Bellamy

Homegrown quota is not a problem.

By giving kids who at least give their all a go,in their positions

Our problems started when Luis got banned. The man utd game in feb destroyed the team moral. Them singing at half-time, full-time didn't help liverpool team moral. Where as it seemed to bond man utd.

And to add insult to injury, they didn't show Evra bouncing around in front of us and never mentioned it on Sky. The whole situation was a stitch up, red nose intimating that Suarez could've caused a riot. I didnt know anything about the handshake untill I got home.

Ozone

The problem was Lucas injury. and kenny say we have the player to back up no need to buy. then Suarez band also same thing no need to buy. it's amiss judgment Kenny should buy in January.

r-r

Whiskey nose won that particular battle by manipulation. Lets just make sure he doesn't get that sort of advantage again. Evra was just his puppet and Luis the fall guy. An utter disgrace and the FA should hang their heads in shame because they allowed it.

apart from winning the league or cup competition and apart from relegation in my eyes league position this season was only relevant to gain finance . its far more important to build a team to challenge for many years to come ,so at the moment we are definately in transition and with a cup to boot. we cant keep sacking managers and for those who say roy hodgeson didnt get a chance , well he never was a liverpool football club man was he ,lets give kenny full support .redello

09 Apr 2012 17:23:39
well we bought three of the most creative players last season and they where all creative and they create a lot of chance. Conversion of chances hasn't happen.

Applying stats, does get results, but football is a game of workhorses and talent. we need more work rate in the team.

ED there have been some rumours that fsg are looking to sell either a stake in the club or the whole club in the summer. Do you know anything about this? {Ed002's Note - No.}

09 Apr 2012 17:15:05
Hi (Eds)
I would like to make one thing perfectly clear before I continue. I am not doubting Macca has received info regarding the recent transfer targets (five have been mentioned) I just don't believe any concrete decision has been made yet.
my reasons are, If we go out of the FA cup on Saturday it may have a massive impact on players wanting to stay, Fans not wanting to turn up for the remainder of the season. which could effect players performances on the pitch and we could end up finishing nearer the bottom than the top, come the end of the season.
We are a club in crisis and until the seasons reaches a conclusion we can't do say which way the ship will sail.
I can't see Kenny being in charge next season. even if we win the Fa cup and finish 7th, which is the best we can hope for in the league. I believe Kenny's fate is already decided.
Who will manager is a bigger priority than players and bringing a top manager to Anfield may not so easy. as i think commoli may be a problem. (if indeed he still has a job) i think some managers may have doubts working along side him. other managers who have worked with him have disliked his style and
personality.
There is also the way the Fenway group like to recruit new players and the policies of age etc.
We need to find a proven manager and one who can handle difficult players, which there are so many these days. The manager will need to make the fans believe his style of play and management.
We need to win the FA cup for various reasons, apart from giving the club and the fans a big boost. It will attract top players to the club. which we desperately need to do. however we must not slip any further down the premier league.

loosing the FA Cup and dropping any more points will scooper plans the club has in place.

A Chester Red.

Kenny Dalglish has described Liverpool's current form as the worst run he can remember as a manager, player and supporter.

But the Reds boss would do well to recall a dreadful six-game losing run he oversaw while in charge of Blackburn exactly 20 years ago.

The similarities are striking: Form that crumbled in March, big money signings failing to perform, and back page stories questioning whether 'King Kenny' could still cut it as a manager.

If Dalglish was to reflect on that run amid growing pressure at Liverpool he may find some reassurance at how quickly things can change.

The run ended with a draw, Liverpool's last result. Three years later, his team won the Premier League.

Now Dalglish's Liverpool have a chance to end their bad run at Ewood Park against Blackburn on Tuesday.

Blackburn record goalscorer Simon Garner, who was part of that 1991-92 squad, describes how Dalglish coped during such a bad run of form and what he did to turn it around.

TRAINING AND TACTICS

Ray Harford succeeded Dalglish as manager in 1995
"He left all the coaching to Ray Harford [his assistant manager] who was a very, very good coach. Kenny would come in with a smile on his face and have a laugh and a joke.

"Every Friday we would have five-a-sides and Kenny would play. We wouldn't stop playing until Kenny had won a game. Kenny is happiest when he is around the training ground with a bunch of footballers.

"We didn't talk about the run in training. We approach every game the same way, training was the same. We carried on as normal.

"Generally, we used to train for the opposition. I remember one game against Charlton and Kenny said to Ray Harford 'we will play a long ball game just for one game as Charlton won't expect it'. We trained to that plan all week and won.

"However we never used to know the team until 2pm on matchday. Kenny wasn't afraid to change a team. Time and again he would come up with a selection you wouldn't have expected."

MAN-MANAGEMENT
"Some players need an arm around their shoulder, some need a telling off and Kenny understood that.

"When you were behind closed doors he could lose his temper. The only time this would happen was after a match when you'd had a bad game. But he wasn't one for throwing tea cups. Most of the time he would encourage you and this didn't change during a bad run.

"He wouldn't get annoyed as long as you worked hard and were giving everything you could give. If you worked your socks off he would understand."

HANDLING THE PRESS

Garner scored 194 goals for Rovers
"Kenny would always defend the players to the press and public, like he does with Liverpool now. We appreciated that.

"You don't want to read your manager in the papers saying you were having a bad time. Kenny never let that happen.

"He tried not to let the players feel the pressure and it helped. We were expected to get promoted because of all the money Jack Walker had spent.

"At the back of your mind you were thinking about it, but it wasn't talked about during the run so you didn't dwell on it."

SIGNINGS
"Back then you could sign players until March. He is missing a goalscorer at Liverpool. At Blackburn he was able to go out and buy players to try and get the goals mid season.

"He was happy to sign a player to do a job and get us up a division knowing he would replace them in the summer. You can't make those signings now with the transfer window.

"If he is still in charge in the summer there will be a lot of changes."

TURNING POINT
"We had a great team spirit. I don't think you get that so much nowadays in the Premier League. The game is so different. There are so many foreign players.

"Back then all the players stuck together and got on well, socialised together. I don't think that happens in the modern game.

"In that run it wasn't happening for us but we all thought deep down that we could turn it around.

"Kenny lives for football and I think he will be playing it similar to how he did it at Blackburn in that he will have the belief they are good enough.

"He will be hurting. Liverpool is in his heart. He looks older and tense this season. He looks like he is under pressure but he will try not let that get to the players.

"When you look at their squad they have enough to stop the run and he still has the FA Cup to go for."

This is the answer to all who doubt in Kenny's ability to get Liverpool back up where they belong.

Zabwala

I've just posted that and realised that you had beaten me to it. Good thread mate.

Hey eds , i wanted to ask , do use think we'll sign anyone this summer because if we dont than we could be getting relegated next season , our whole current team with the exception of suarez , gerrard and bellamy should be sent to the garbage tip absolute mediocrity , we have had enough !!! {Ed002's Note - I am sure a player or two will arrive.}

They should remove THIS IS ANFIELD sign from the tunnel, the current team is not worthy to touch it.

But it is anfield. ?

They should ask player not to toush it but remove the sign? No

I hope they don't "tousch" it but hope the ones who deserve it " touch" it:

Prediction of final table:

1. Man U
2. Man C
3. Chelsea
4. Arsenal
5. Newcastle
6. Tottenham.
11. Liverpool

Hard table to look at. My only saving grace was that Chelsea would also not make the top 4, but you can see how things are now going their way and Tottenham are imploding.

Also, if anyone cared to watch Everton dismantle Sunderland today....they will destroy us on friday. Thank god we met Cardiff in Carling cup final or else we would be trophyless and in our worst position in an age.

I think Arse will be 3 and Chavs 4 and us 7.

I can guarantee we will not lose on Friday. I'm so confident of that I will put my season ticket on it.

Ok, I know the situation with Huntelaar, how he's wanting to move to the premiership now he's nearing the end of his contract. However, what are the chances of getting Adam Johnson and Giovinco for both of the wings?

A squad of:
Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Gerrard, Lucas, Giovinco, Suarez, Johnson, Huntelaar
would be devastating, as long as we had a good couple of backup wingers (such as Kuyt and Bellamy)

Solid plan in my eyes
Cheers, 77chris

Sorry to be negative but Everton (who have no money) go 4 points clear and Newcaslte have gone 16 points clear. I think this shows beyond doubt what an awful job Dalglish has done this season (cups excepted). We are a million miles from the Champions league. I thought Hodgson was bad, but he had no money Dalglish has blown it. It's all very depressing. I hope the American owners will act hastily and get someone with new ideas in to turn this around.

Hessle Red

They bought in jan. we didnt

So you have to wonder how responsible the management are

Why pay over the odds in the January window and make the mistake we made with Carroll. We have obviously made the decision to trust our forwards, however they have let us down. It makes sense to build the team the right way and with patience. So buying in the summer is the sensible thing to do.

Evered

We'd blown all the money so couldn't sign in jan

just a quick rant, i love this........but the amount of ppl who just pull random names out the air and expect the eds to know anythin about them. the eds always tell us who were intereted in or chasing. this isnt champ manager or fifa 12, be realistic. also while kenny is still in charge, for god sake back him. hes doin the best he can and we all know he might step down at the end of the season. rant ova.

Hard times being a red now
Everton about 5 points clear level on ponts with Norwich could end the day 9th or lower.
Blackburn away tomorrow and that is not going to be a good game, they are up for it lose or be relegated and tbh we don't have anything to play for in the league so they could do us over unfortunately
The semi on Saturday with us having a day less preparation and an absolutely awful run of form, I'm actually really worried
We lose the next two then I want kenny out, he should have gone on the recent league form alone and I know I will get killed for saying that but it's true!
The season was over when we won the carling cup and the objective was complete we gained Mackey mouse European football and there was nothing left to play for in the the league and with a loss in Saturday the season will have been woeful

Anyone else watch Norwich today? They are better than Liverpool, and by a decent margin. I thought promoted teams were supposed to get weaker as the season drags on? They would eat us for breakfast.

Melbourne,I'll bring up spend only since you mention it. We have bought big since last January, but, have sold some top quality players. So as I hold you in some esteem as far as football knowledge goes, over 100 million worth of talent leaves and you spend around that,it's not going to make your squad a great deal better(in our case it was clearly worse) agreed? It evens out. However, you spent 50 million on Torres, and I don't think you recouped any real money then did you? I've had a little look around on the old web(nifty little thing)and it seems, low and behold) Chelsea's net spend is the highest of all clubs in the Premier League. Not a bad feat when you consider you've only been in and around the top for say 9 years. We've spent a little more than you in the last 18 months, but also gained a lot more than you in the same period. 65 million of it from you if we include Yossi. And you are also in danger of missing out on 4th spot. All I'm saying mate,is things are not that rosy over your side of the pond. But maybe the expectations of Chelsea are slightly higher at the moments, being as you've recently won the league, with the same squad too. So maybe, you missing out on Champions League will have a greater impact than it did with us? If you make the top 4 and win the F.A cup then hat off to you, you'd deserve your chance to gloat, but until then mate let me paint you a picture. 'We both lose our semi's,you finish 6th and you end the season trophyless and europeless(I know I'm even making up words now!)'. You don't think its a bit early to start coming on your rivals page? According to you and your Chelski friends,we are not even rivals anymore,so why are you here again? Can't reply directly using BlackBerry mobile, but await your reply friend. :) WelshBoyDave

Dave, you are making me blush... Ok why in gods name should i care about how much money my owner has spent on my team, when it is clear Roman is not bothered by spending cash? Why does the money in football have any bearing on my level of support for my team? Why would I care if my owner likes spending truckloads on world class strik... (hang on)? I'm going to preempt your reply will be that I should care, as FFP rules come in soon. No they don't, they will not come in for a long while yet. As soon as they threaten teams, the new European League will be born that will have no links to UEFA. Or it won't be born and UEFA scrap the idea of FFP, or put it on the back burner.

I am well aware that our season currently sits on a knifes edge. However I prefer to think we will gain 4th spot. If we beat Fulham and manage to keep it at a 2 goal cushion, we sit 4th tonight! We also have a good shout at FA Cup glory, as players such as Drogba, Lampard, Essien etc. could be having their last crack at it. They do love winning that cup.

Now moving on to your point about us finishing 6th win no cups or no Europe, simple.... I will return to signing my posts 'Steve Parker'

Melbourne CFC

Wait, you don't seem to care when you spend...
15m on Mutu
30m in Shevchenko
50m Torres
13m on AVB,
but you seem more concerned about our spending. Something isn't right.

The thing us the players we signed were for way smaller wages compared to yours, and young, unlike yours, so if you want to talk about transfer activities, I would shut up.

John

John mate you have definately chosen the wrong post to have a crack. We were actually being friendly, but what the hell. I'm not concerned with your signings at all, i am far to busy laughing at them.

Other than Torres none of the aforementioned names have a link with the current chelsea team. Chelsea players recently signed would be Mata, Luiz, Ramires, Romeu, Lukaku, De Bruyne, Piazon. Now what do these fellows all have in common? Low wages (for Chelsea), young with alot of potential. Lets weigh up our transfer dealings why don't we.

Lukaku vs Carroll - Lukaku is younger, less experienced but looks a lot more promising. Carroll is a donkey and plays the part well.

Mata vs Hendo - Why bother, class apart. Mata 23, Hendo 21, in 2 years he will not be as good or even nearly as good.

Ramires vs Downing - Downing has been pretty poor this season, but is a player i rate. Can cross and can link up. Ramires is younger and progressed alot this season. Can score, can run for days, could improving crossing and passing.

Luiz vs Coates - Coates looks the business, still young needs more experience. Luiz can score, is proving why he is touted as having the potential to be one of the best CB in the world.

I think all in all Chelsea smashed you in Transfer dealings as of late, while also not breaking the bank except for Nando. I love Nando.

Melbourne CFC

Melbourne cfc yawn yawn you are simply boring pal. Now run along and get a room with chelski

Okay as it stands, lukaku has played one premier league game. And honestly, let's seem him play in the future then let's judge.
Now Coates vs Luiz? No brainer.... Easily Coates, he has scored a quality goal showing he can score and yet he's a defender who happens to do something called " defend"! Unlike your players. Mata is your play maker, Hendo is not ours; Suarez is ours and he is miles better than mata( who teams can now easily defend as shown lately). Your posts have no contet to them. No facts of back it up just what a fickle blind fan thinks. Once you spend another 150m and don't win ANYTHING don't come on our site and say we wasted money, hypocritical muppet. Go watch your Australian league.

If he did have inside knowledge on transfer targets, why would he blab them on the internet for all of Liverpool's competition to see?
Unless of course he is an Everton supporter!

Well that's official then !

Liverpool go into the FA Cup semi final against Everton as underdogs .

Not as the underdogs team, just as the under performing team. Big difference, check the bookies prices.

In terms of the City of Liverpool the favourites have to be Everton , regardless of the bookamkers .

I still back LFC to win , I have a bet on LFC winning the domestic Cup double this season .

That's a positive as far as I'm concerned. We will be ok next Saturday, you watch. Overconfident blues are just what we want.

On this page Melbourne mate this is considered a Brain Teaser. It could take hours for them to work out the answer.

Chelski

Well lets rule out sideways then. Should cut the time in half, maybe two thirds.

Melbourne CFC

Calm down.....is sideways a direction?.

Ahh bless chelski has a male friend in melbourne ! xxx fellas

Where did Chelsea finish last season? Where are they now?

Let's hope they can put their few brain cells together and come up with something, ANYTHING other that the boring lame garbage that they usually post, i mean read the nonsense above! Seriously? Is that all two opposing fans can come up with? You two must be a buddle of laughs to post such bland nonsense.

MR EM

Finished at Everton last season and are currently on their way to our game against Fulham I would imagine... what does that have to do with the price of fish?

You really are a bitter angry old tosspot aren't you Mr EM. Don't let things stress you out so much mate, you'll win the league next year.

Ed I want to read yesterdays afternoon banter posts but there's a gap between the last post on banter page 1 and the first post on banter page 2?

Theres a gap of like 15 hours missing? How can I read yesterday afternoons banter posts?

Its very odd...why is there a missing 12-15hours?

Its frustrating because I want to read the feedback to my posts yesterday.

James Blond. {Ed002's Note - It will turn up later on - I don't recall the reasons, but it will.}

If the 15 hours of lost posts do not materialise perhaps one of the Eds should resign , a la Richard Nixon's missing 15 mins .

Lose the first 48 hours after each game please. Now that would be useful.

Kenny is a great manager but his way of managing is just to old fashioned, maybe it's time for him to move upstairs and let someone younger like AVB take charge. I know he was crap for Chelsea but maybe he now knows what went wrong, and what he'd do differently I'm sure he'd like another shot.

Thanks
Wagr

Brilliant - hire managers who have been rubbish at other clubs on the basis that they must have figured out where they went wrong.

Ive been saying he would be ideal , were he went wrong at chelski was trying to change the old players to quickly , our team would be more straight forward for him to change and he would get players from the portugese league , my vote would be gfor him though

If we get avb I will not watch us or buy anything in the club shop until he's gone! And before I get hate with all the usual tripe people put on here don't bother!!

What exactly do you mean by his "way of managing"? I assume you track him on a daily basis to observe his methods?

United fan here, serious question for you...

Do you think any other manager would have been sacked by now considering the way the season has gone?

Dalglish is a joke. His signings have been dreadful. Suarez is the only one who's remotely good but is a trouble maker, and even he wouldn't get a game for United, Chelsea or City.

Then you have...

Adam
Downing
Henderson
Carroll

All bought for huge sums, all of them are bottom 10 PL level at best.

What's your opinions?

Steven.

Suarez would struggle to get in utds team cause he cant dive as well as your lot .say no more .

Their silence speaks volumes

Serious question? And then you follow it up with that drivel? Get real, and get lost. Nick.

Im a pool fan and agree with you,he must be sacked, very bad managment by KK....IRISH KOPITIE

What would have happened if the skanks had sacked Fergie in his first full season? Sometimes ya just need faith, patience and belief!
ItsNotRocketScience

Did you call Fergie a joke when United finished 11th followed by 13th?

What about Kleberson, Anderson. Bepe, Forlan, Veron, Taibi, Djemba-Djemba. Poor transfers the list could go on

United, City or Chelsea wouldn't give Suarez a game???
Are you kidding???
Fergie likes to give the "holier that thou" attitude but would take him like a shot. Look at how he was with the clown Cantona. And how quick you are to forget how close you where to binning Fergie because of his poor start, or his poor signings (bebe, jordi cruyff, veron, obertan, taibi to name a few).
Kennys results have been bad of late but he's started to get us playing the right way. I'm not naive enough to think it all comes good over-night.

faithlila

None of the dud signings you speak of were ever first name on the team sheet like Adam, Carroll, Downing etc are at Liverpool except Veron and Forlan. Yes they failed at United, but Forlan went on to prove he was world class elsewhere and Veron was sublime in his day. Your team is frankly laughable and will continue to be so for many, many years to come.

Steven.

Utd cant afford suarez or the likes cos money is tight over there , the best signings they have made are howard webb and lee mason amongst other joke refs . enjoy your title lads as the bubble will burst . scholes giggs are nearly 40

Nearly 40? Irrelevant. Scholes is twice the player of each of your midfielders put together haha. Nearly 40, he would walk into your midfield when he's 80.

Steven.

Go sleep in your 5 European championships? You can't?
We are not in debt, you are, that's why you brought a player out of RETIREMENT.

09 Apr 2012 16:03:56
jose enrique is vastly overrated. there's a reason spain don't pick him. will people stop saying he's one of the best in the world

With downing having a free role then he has no back up , so he's left stranded , its down to kenny , enrique is a qualty left back and like all full backs they need help sometimes , you watch the villa game again and you will see downing tracking back then he stops running back to help out his team mates , at the moment we are not playing as a team ,

The whole squad is lacking confidence and not playing at their best, i agree with above that Downing is not the best at tracking back and his forward running decisions are not always kind to Enrique when he commits to running out of position on the overlap.

We seem to be individual and not working as a team at times. That's again due to a lack of confidence.

09 Apr 2012 15:54:54
I have been reading down the page and i have read a few teams with Enrique in them but i think this is one player that needs dropping. He was really poor on sat probably as poor as i have seen him. He doesnt be able to seem to cross a ball either which is so important for a full back to do in the modern game.

His defending is lacking a bit as well i just hope that we get kelly and johnson back for the semi. They would be my two full backs.

Mighty reds

I think he just needs a rest. i think riena needed the rest too

Reina needed the rest? he might come back and be even worse

In England it is a struggle to watch English football, even MOTD is treated differently to other programs on the BBC Iplayer.

The rights are sold and the contracts are signed and we the fans get told to like it or lump it.

I think Sky and Virgin for instances, should offer retired people some huge reductions in tariffs. Heating bill for the Winter or Football, it's a no brainer. Older people suceptable to the weather will rightly so always put their health first, but it's a crappy testament to how Capitalism has gone insane, with no morals or virtue in sight.

It's to make you subscribe to espn
Itv wanted the Sunday game so hat they could promote the titanic programme also they believe it will be the better game with the better teams

Just use the internet and you'll be guaranteed to get the match in any quality and language that suits you. I watch every Liverpool game (as painful as that may be these days) without a problem, using the wondeful and magical WWW, so thank you Sir Tim. I like to think it also gives a 2 fingers to Sky et al.

Ed , i am worried, with concerning all these players we are connected to. with our current plight and league position would any of them consider coming to the reds, as we are now a mid league team not pushing for champs lge never mind the title.What type of player will we be able to attract with this in mind. ps love the site {Ed002's Note - There are many, many players out there who would be pleased to play for Liverpool.}

The Eds are right. There are many players who would love to play for Pool. Several of them play in my co-ed league. As for good players, not a chance.

That's right Ed there is....most of them are playing in League 1 & 2 but there's a good few in the Conference aswell

Just to point out were 15 pts from 4th and 15pts from relagation.

Does that mean we are in the middle?

Since abramovichs reign, Chelsea have spent £600m on players. They have also had 7 managers since September 2007. And through all this, they are about to get spanked by barca, and miss out on the champions league. You are a poor mans Man city, and will always be a joke of a club who have done nothing to earn any bit of success you have.

General opinion x

Shouldn't you be putting that on the chelsea page? this is a liverpool page

Hold on let me grasp this... we are a poor mans Man City? What exactly have Man City accomplished? Did they win the premier league back to back? Did they do the PL FA Cup double? Have they been too 6 CL semi finals in 9 years?

You talk about my Chelsea as a joke of a club.... are you blind son? Do you struggle to read? Is this your first time on the site? You are well and truly the current joke of the PL... you were last year, and you certainly are this year.

Man City has shown you that you can not buy a PL title (well you guys can't even buy top 6). You can spend sh*tloads on players, but you need them to play as a team, to believe in each other and back each other 100% in order to last 38 games of a season as Champions. Something your lowly club knows absolutely nothing about when it comes to MODERN football. Sick of you plonkers harping on about your history and saying Chelsea has bought cups. Come to terms with the fact you no longer contend with the big boys. Have Real Madrid bought all of their trophies or do you consider them a big team?

Melbourne CFC

General Opinion x

We are a club making history. You are a club living on history. Who's the joke?

Chelski

"you can not buy a premier league title"
The single most laughable comment ever made by a chavsea fan

Chris in Tamworth

@Melbourne CFC

How many times have Liverpool FC beaten Chelsea FC in the league over the last 2 seasons?

I count four times out of four games. Yeah Chelsea are definitely getting better :)

Well Chris when you can't win one for over 2 decades I am not surprised at all that you think they are bought. And that United get all the refs decisions.

I would respond with a witty single most laughable comment by a scouser, however if you just scroll you will find one after another after another afte......

Melbourne CFC

@ bloke with no name

Its not my fault Chelsea managers put the youth squad in against your second rate team. Take it up with them mate. But just to humour you, how many times has that 6 points helped you to a position above Chelsea on the league? Yeah Liverpool are getting much much worse

Melbourne CFC

Melbourne, you've probably been a chavsea fan for about 8 years I would guess like all the other fair weather plastic fans you've got. Of course you will say "I've been a fan for 30 years" like the rest all do but we all know the reality.
Are you really trying to suggest that you didn't buy the premiership? I think you'll find it pretty lonely if that's your stance.
The fact is, you, and the other plastics, will all be nowhere to be seen in a couple of seasons when you've sacked another couple of managers, Abramobich has decided to throw it in and footballs biggest chav Terry is still picking the side.
I'm not going to pretend we are any good at the moment because I'm a Liverpool fan and am aware of our shortcomings and can admit them but let's just have a look at some facts. It's very very possible that you won't finish in the CL places and will end the season trophy less so who's had the better season?

Chris in Tamworth

Man City actually had genuine fans even when they were in the championship they had full houses and has a decent history not a cabinet full of trophies but a decent history, Chelsea are a plastic club with plastic fans, many Fulham fans are Chelsea fans now

I don't need to take it up with past Chelsea managers. You slag Liverpool off, typing that we are no good. But we beat you off the park 4 times out of 4, we even beat you after Chelski spent £60 million on Liverpool players.

You're in need of a reality check, you are no longer managed by Mourinho. You will go 5th on goal difference ahead of Newcastle if you win at Fulham. LoL

You have spiralled down the league, out of the ''top four'' and no manager is given enough time to develop a new team, Chelsea lost their teeth.

You only have money on Liverpool, you had Champions League but you don't even have that any more.

Your Getting it today Melbourne CFC!!

Lyndon

I am really curious, does this Melbourne chap even visit the Chelsea page,he seems to be on ours all the time

Eds or fans Can anyone recommend me a site which has accurate and updated stats. I don't really need all stats at least the goals assists and appearances in league, and cups etc. and from earlier seasons will do. Wikipidea gets edited a way too much

Try the premier League website .

Hi Eds and Reds

I think the fact we lost Lucas has really hurt the team and since his injury we have gone down hill..it shows how important he is..plus Luis ban and Gerrard and Agger injuries.Regardless who is in charge next season..if we can add a few quality players..have a fully fit Lucas and Gerrard..I think we could really make a push to be back in the top 4..the only way is up guys.

atlfc70

If only it were that simple

We actually did Ok during the period when Suarez was banned. the slump happened in the last 4-> 5 weeks, but our problems existed since the start of the season, no goal scorer , no decent front man, no width and no invention, and unless we fix a couple of these problems, Im afraid we wont be moving forward.

Wow. How bored is Chelski? Reading down he has last word on so many posts. That Chelski page must really be a ghost town. Wouldn't know myself. But does anybody think its strange personally I think you should comment on your own team mate. Currently out of the Champions league spots, behind low spending spurs? As you take great pride in telling us money doesn't guarantee a top four place. And your hardly on the up and up are you mate? Realistically now. Looks like we'll be sharing Thursday nights with the boys in blue. Wonder if you come onto our page then? WelshBoyDave

obviously i am bored, hence the reason i am on your page reading these hilarious posts.

Chelski

Back to your plastic club with your plastic flags and your Chelsea pensioners

By the mere fact you guys will also be playing football Thursday nights, been beaten THREE times at home in one year to team you say is rubbish don't you think you should be looking at your own teams failings inside of concerning yourselves with ours? At least the Mancs have something they can brag about, you lot have nothing!

MR EM

In all fairness Dave, to me it wouldn't matter if the Chelsea Page was buzzing 24/7. There is not the comical drawcard on any other site bar this one. And I wouldn't bring up the Champions League spots or being behind teams that spend less... not the brightest of arguments don't you agree?

Melbourne CFC

"By the mere fact you guys will also be playing football Thursday nights, been beaten THREE times at home in one year to team you say is rubbish..."

When did i cal you rubbish? And will you please stop bragging about playing Thursday night football, its embarrassing.

P.S Ed002, Thanks. You know why haha

Now lets get positvie but realistic, do you really see renia going and if he goes where to? When liverpool played stoke in the league cup watch suarez's second goal he kisses the badge. Finally we have young english players Carrol, Henderson, Spearing, Kelly, Flanagan. All no higher then 23 that means 7 more years at liverpool to get better come on!!

09 Apr 2012 13:47:13
4 points off 14th in the league. Really wouldn't want to be a Liverpool fan right now. 1 win in 9 games. Well at least your still making history lads. The worst Liverpool team to date.

Id rather be sittin bottom of the league than be a utd fan

edd's, any chance of making a liverpool rumours page that is for actual rumours? getting bored of having to constantly read through people asking if were interested in random players, or who they think is going to leave, or what there dream football manager team would be! {Ed002's Note - We cannot control what the posters want to submit.}

09 Apr 2012 13:19:21
Hi to all fellow Kopites,

Just a thought but would like to See Kelly given a go in central def along with Coates and play Agger def Mid. We have nothing to loose for the remaining prem games. I don't know about anyone else but I deffo see Kelly as a central def star of the future. I also think Agger would do a great job in a def mid role, calm on the ball great in the tackle with good passing range. Got to be worth a shout.

Elmo

Agger would be brilliant in that position, plus the odd foward runs he makes and not afraid to shoot. Enrique, Coates, Skertyl ANd Kelly for defence

Did you just say kelly and coates and leave skrtel out?

------------Doni--------------
kelly - skrtel - coates - enrique
------------Agger------------
-----shelvey-----------------
----------gerrard-----downing
--kuyt------suarez-----------

The only reason I left Skrtel out was to give him a rest. I think hes played almost every game this season

Elmo

09 Apr 2012 12:59:10
We should bring in a young replacement for doni (presuming he leaves) like Toni courtois. We have great centre backs in the likes of Agger and Skrtel but for the future we should turn Kelly into a centre back and put Coates (who's also coming into form) along side him. Then we'll bring Isla in at right back and put Johnson up for sale. Enrique has been our most consistent player this season and I'm certain he'll have a spot in the team next year. Lucas and Gerrard should be our centre midfielders next season with the likes of Coady and Henderson (who is not a winger) being developed for the future. We should sell Adam. Let's be honest why would Munian want to come to Anfield with the likes of Chelsea and even barcelona being interested. We should go for someone a little more realistic but still a great signing like adam Johnson, doesn't play regularly at city but would for us so why not. Downing should be kept as he is starting to find form and maybe we could sell him off in a few seasons when sterlings older. We should try and make a move for Luuk de Jong early on in the transfer window just in case Suarez leaves (not saying he will) on deadline day so we don't need a last ditch scramble to find a replacement. I can see Soldado coming and if so I think Carroll is extremely likely to leave. I think carra might retire and bellamy won't play very often.

Team for next season:

Reina
Isla Agger Skrtel Enrique
Downing Lucas Gerrard A.johnson
Suarez/De Jong
Soldado

Red4ever

Deffo agree with your take on defence..lol. I had just posted before reading this. I had Kelly and Coates in CD with Agger DM for the rest of the season.

Courtois plays for Chelsea

Martin

09 Apr 2012 13:07:05
Ok, just been thinking about the squad and I reckon:
GK
Reina
Doni
Gulacsi
Jones SELL 1m

RB
Johnson SELL 7m
Kelly
Flanagan
Darby

CB
Agger
Skrtel
Coates
Carragher
Wilson SELL 2m
Wisdom

LB
Enrique
Robinson
Aurelio SELL 1m

DM
Lucas
Spearing
Coady

CM
Gerrard
Aquilani SELL 10m
Adam SELL 7m
Cole SELL 5m
Henderson
Shelvey
Suso

RW
Kuyt
Sterling
Maxi SELL 5m

LW
Bellamy
Downing SELL 10m

ST
Suarez
Carroll
Pacheco
Eccleston SELL 2m
Amoo

Total income 50m

Need
RW (Top class)
LW x2 (Top class + backup)
ST (Top class)
CB (Backup)
LB (Backup)
CM (Backup)

So with added funding of possibly between 15 to 30 million (making at least 65 million), who do you reckon we should purchase? For me Adam Johnson is a must for the LW, being wasted at city.

Cheers, 77chris

I hope liverpool doesn't become a club who sacks managers every year,if kk goes lets make shore the next manager is class and give him 3 years.
Kp

Kp...The precedent has been set (ask Woy)

You are now supporting a club with no boundaries in the manager/coach in and out game...

The modern games owners want more bang for their buck than the likes of KD can provide...to them he's simply small potatoes...

Talks within FSG have more than likely reached a stage of a ''preferred'' ''3'' replacements by now...

Don't forget their priority is to uphold LFC's global profile.

Posting here is always a pleasure lol :)

Blue247

Blue 247 lets see if posting here will be a pleasure after this wekend? Show some bottle then eh lad :)

Woy was appointed by the previous owners and KK was never more than a caretaker

Jose! rafa! jesus!

One of the three above!

Just a question for everyone. Where do you think we will finish this year in the league? I am looking at all the fixtures that remain. We could drop as low as 14th, realistically, as the teams at our doorstep (West Brom, Norwich, Fulham, Sunderland) are all playing very good right now, while we are in poor form. A loss at Blackburn tomorrow and we will be in the bottom half for sure.

Blackburn are always a tough test away for Liverpool, dating back 20 years. I am looking forward to it hoping that we can get a look at Hoilett, who would be a reasonable target for us.

I think this summer could prove quite frustrating for Liverpool. Most people want the owners to splash cash and bring in 2 - 3 big name players. Me being a 'glass half empty' person am more worried that we will be replacing Reina, Kuyt and Johnson with young players for the future. Certainly if I was owner of the club, and knowing that 100 million certainly did not bring instant success, i would have to rethink the entire plan. They will want to cut down on wages and moving the highest earners may be in the team's best interest. That also means we won't be buying players like Soldado, etc. who will expect 100 000 + per week.

Just one man's opinion. Has anyone noticed how vocal J. henry early on, and how we haven't heard a thing from him for about 8 months? I doubt its because he is ecstatic with the way things have gone.

Canada Red

09 Apr 2012 12:27:51
We bought Carroll for 35m£. In Newcastle they are laughing at us. To replace him they bought Andy Carroll (35 million) =Papiss Cisse (10 mill) + Ba (free) +HBA (5 million) + cabaye (4 million) + Santon (6 Million) + Tiote (3 million) + Obertan (2.5 million) + Simpson (750k) + Marveaux (free) + Williamson (2 million)
So they used 33.25 M£ on these players!
KK time to go, you can't use money on s**t
Danieldenmark

They bought their whole team.

Didnt they have some of those players before?

Williamson, Tiote, Ben Arfa and Simpson were all brought in b4 Carroll was sold. But thanks 4 funding the rest.

09 Apr 2012 12:11:36
the only thing kenny is guilty of is paying over the odds for 3 of the players!!(hendo carroll downing)TWO OF THEM WILL COME GOOD.
as for the plus points luis ,bellamy, enrique where all bargains.
he also has us playing football again(or have we all forgot how bad we played under roy?),ok the results in the league hav'nt been great this year. which IMO is down to simple lack of luck and injuries to key players(ie lucas),but we are on the cusp of another cup final. ending a 6 year barron spell.
Our season could have been so diffrent, with a bit of luck or more quality in front of goal, and refs judging the game and not players reputations.
We as football fans need to stop knee jerk reactions, and look at the big picture.Kenny had a huge job to drag us back in to CL spot.and thats a fact that some of us cant believe!!

REDMAD

Yep you're right. Its not because your awful. Its because you've been unlucky, had injuries, refs don't like you, everybody is against you, your kit is cursed, FIFA don't like you etc etc etc. What about the last 20 years? Whats the reason for you being awful for all them years?

Chelski

Same years we won the champions league wideboy!!!

Chelski
the last 20yrs i sure we have been more successfull than chelsea over them 20yrs so all in all not bad
mrbrown

Nope Mr Brown you have not. Last 20 years

Chelsea - 16 Trophies
Liverpool - 13 Trophies

Chelski

I expect all you little cretins to read that over and over and get it through you skulls. Chelsea are a force in England and will be for many years to come. You lot are only heading in one direction, and it is not up.

Melbourne CFC

Chelsea have won 13 cups in the last 20 years. Not 16. 3 of the 13 cups Chelsea have won are Charity Shield exhibition season openers XD

09 Apr 2012 12:11:35
We seem to have a long term problem of hitting the woodwork instead of the back of the net,

2008/2009 - 26 times - Highest in League

2009/2010 - 20 times - Highest in League

2010/2011 - Can't find the stat but we would have
been top 4 if all woodwork shots went in

2011/2012 - 27 times - And Counting

Time to move the goalposts - get rid of KK!

Maybe the FA should make the goalposts Liverpool are shooting at wider than the opposition ones? That would make it fairer wouldn't it.

Chelski

At least moving goalposts would be harder to hit.

John CT

Don't say that Chelski, these conspiracy idiots probably think the worlds out get them and the goals they shoot at have wider posts

Chelski wideboy, We'll see who's laughing at the end of the season when your lot hasn't made champs league either and you've won nowt ! I cant wait for barca to do a liverpool and knock you lot out of the champs league semis ( TWICE) haha i bet that still hurts eh wideboy !

Your grammar is terrible. I'll still be laughing at that at the end of the season.

And do you usually shout everything!!!???

Chelski

@ Chelskigrad,

This is a football website used by people all over the World, your ignorance in assuming all Liverpool fans can't spell or use correct grammar is plain ridiculous, take you grammer nazi tactics to the road Jack.

You have a basic education but have not the common courtesy to be respectful of those that may not have. That's just plain sad, if you are a grown adult then it's plain pitiful of you.

09 Apr 2012 11:54:11
Hi Eds,
Just an opinion...
If Dalglish leaves at the end of the season.
And FSG hire a new manager,i don't see the new manager opting with many of the current squad players.
If FSG are to appoint a new manager at the end of the season, will there be squad ovehaul.(7 or more signings)?
THX {Ed002's Note - Why don't we just wait and see.}

Because this site is about rumour and speculation...not waiting and seeing. {Ed002's Note - Why not speculate instead of trolling then?}

I think your missing the point a little, this site is for people to post and read rumours, it's not to ask any of the ed's opinions all the time, then argue with their responses

09 Apr 2012 11:48:12
ok lets say kenny gets sacked..who do you want in charge and why..what would u expect him to achieve and how long would he get to meet your expections..just going to throw this out there..would be nice to hear you views big d

Let's say he doesn't get the sack and we make the CL next year and win the league the year after that. Much more positive.

You should go for a Warnock or if your lucky Mccarthy, i think its fair to say theirs a strong chance you'll get relegated next season, these man are PROVEN at getting promoted from the Championship, all about the planning lads

SHED END

Let me just 'throw this out there' you numpty. Why on earth would a true and loyal supporter of our wonderful club even contemplate discussing our wonderful manager being sacked ?

This is not some game that you can play with people, have you got no loyalty to Kenny whatsoever.......disgraceful and useless comment youve just 'thrown out there'.

Why dont you have a conversation with either your girlfriend or wife and tell her you just wanted to 'throw this out there and ask her views about you two staying together'....see what response you get person ?

Tel 1949

Certainly a foreign manager.
Anyone of these would be great:
Marcelo Bielsa, Unai Emery, JΓΌrgen Klopp, Rafa, Jorge Jesus, Frank Rijkard, Roberto Martinez;
One british manager I would accept is Brendan Rodgers.
I would expect a TOP 4 finish (which is the priority)
And at least one cup. Wheter it is the Carling Cup, the FA Cup or the Europa League doesn't matter!

How long he would get depends on the situation.
If he brings the team very close to fourth and only miss out on 1 or 2 points and the team looked convincing over the season I would give him more time.
But if he is 16 points off fourth as Kenny I would sack him.

Allan Pedrw , Unai Emre , J, Kloop. or may be Rafa

I think my thoughts are of the same as most other prem or league sides in thinking your fans are a very fickle pathetic bunch! you foolishly believe that some world class players are going to join? join what exactly? a mid table team at best! cavani, eriksen, higuain etc etc if these players became available and decided I want to go the prem? Man utd, man city, chelsea, spurs and arsenal would be choices of destination before liverpool, in fact newcastle before liverpool , maybe the draw of the capital befor merseyside? You slate other teams history yet throw your own into peoples face like its the be all and end all but its not! People love their teams for a reason! If its about glory hunting they'd be supporting united! a large number of you post your YNWA I can tel you one person walking alone and that's your boss, good player, poor manager, yet hes sporting a sad lonely figure, yes hes rude and arrogant, so don't give us the ynwa cause you lot dont know what it means!

Tel 1949 ..i dont want him sacked ..i am just intrested in what views everyone has...what i am trying to find out is , if kenny was sacked who long would the next manger be given if we havnt won the lge by xmas ..

No SHED END mate, their getting Mourinho or Guardiola, did you not know? Their also in for Hazard, Goetze, Oezil, Higuain etc.

And there was us thinking they only signed over-rated British players after they have 1 good season.

As soon as their 'luck' turns (its been over 20 years btw), then there'll win the league with Mourinho.

Chelski

I doubt Rogers ability...

Agree, one of::: Marcelo Bielsa, Unai Emery, Klopp, Rafa, Jorge Jesus, Frank Rijkard, Roberto Martinez.

Morning Eds

It's puzzling how we selected some of our transfers from last summer. Were they selected from stats or was it a lucky dip draw (I know sarcasm is the lowest form of wit). It seems that we purchased too many mediocre players that stood out in poor teams.Where does the buck stop ? The manger ,the scouting network ,DC?, We seriously need to reconsider or policy on transfers for the 1st team as it's not working at the moment. We have wasted millions upon millions on average and below average players.Im not going to name them as its pointless. Can any of you ED's see any major changes in the way we id players for transfer into the club?

REDFORLIFE

Team like Blackpool can't be that poor when they beat your shower of s**te at Binfield and Bloomfield Road

These mediocre players? oh you mean luis bellam enrique!!

No he means Henderson, Adam, Downing and Carroll

Chelski

Liverpool have been proper unfortunate this season, 30+ posts' and bars with the ball wtf? .

I think we need to stick together, as well as the squad, if we can add some creativity and a new goal scorer, then we could be very cut throat.

We decided to go for youth, we decided to be patient. Many fans simply have their heads where their butts are. We were 17th for a chunk of last season. Short memories.

09 Apr 2012 11:12:21
I think Kenny is a bit like steve mcclaren hes friends with all the players and vice versa. Which is great for confidence which is proabably why he did so well when he took over from hodgson. However he doesnt seem to know how to deal with bad attitudes or results he cant protect the players forever and it doesnt seem to be paying the players her put faith in e.g carroll hasnt blossemed at all and now has the ignorance of criticising him. In short I think we should have kenny in a different position of the club mabye assistant manager altho i doubt he would want it. Squad wise i think the players we have arent living up to their potential and unless someone else not rafa can get the best out of them we are going to need a new overhaul of players i think we all agree with players we want out but not so much who we want in we need to copy newcastle's policy its fantastic. Sorry for the long rant lol

I agree with newcastle policy..so lets c if we can rip someone off and sell them andy carroll

09 Apr 2012 10:53:21
Don't agree with the CB's

Perhaps a young GK
No RB, we have Kelly and Flanno
Centre backs we are fine, Wilson and Coates are good enough, and Wisdom is coming through

And then the rest i agree with

Shame wisdom isn't coming through in some of your fans, well all of them I suppose

Okay funny guy time for the meds.

09 Apr 2012 10:46:35
As someone who had previously played consistently at the highest level for a successful Sevilla side and Juve, why was Christian Poulsen's signing greeted with such negativity?

Because Liverpool fans know their stuff. And they were right. Too old, too slow and his mind not quick enough for the premiership......just like the guy who signed him.

cozinoz

Everyone just knew. We bought him off Juventus Reserves and he ended up being one of the worst Liverpool players of all time and he embodied everything about Roy's tenure - slow, boring, painful to watch, happy to lay about while he collected his wages and the definition of awful.

Martin

'Because Liverpool fans know their stuff' LMAO

Yep you lot really do know your stuff, such a bright bunch. Its not like the rest of the world knew he was completely awful before you signed him! cozinoz what a person you are.

Hey eds, I want to ask about which player(s) is(are) most likely to leave the club this summer?thz:) {Ed005's Note - Personally I would say Aurelio, Maxi, Kuyt, Johnson, Carroll and the obvious ones like Poulsen and co.}

Cannot see Carroll going unless he forces it. Too young and we spent too much on him. Plus, he's going to be lethal any day now.

And day now meaning in 3-5 years

We were better when Gerrard wasn't playing.
When he plays and gets the ball everyone runs away
He cannot do pass and move.
Watch Paul scholes now that is a cm!
Gerrard and carragher are the main reason we have under performed in last 5 years
Carra is so slow we have to play too deep
And sg cannot play in cm mid
Why not play him rw he is much more suited

Dont think you r right about the team being better without gerrard..so if carra and gerrard are main reason we have under performed and we were better when gerrard did'nt play...then way do you want him playing on the right??...

He would be good there that's why

hey lfc fans

Finally a true and REAL statement from an lfc player..in daniel agger...."we are not good enough" we couldnt score a winner becuase we are not good enough.!

im so glad he said that because we all know the team is a shambles ..even sunderland are doing well because the team knows its structure, everyone knows where to play, what their job is, the team is organised.
and that is a big factor in our team cos we r clearly not.

i believe the team do not know what they are doing..especially midfield..they just look out of sorts.

im just really worried where lfc are going....we just seem really average. and i cant see any shining light either

Oops i forgot to put my name...
red lobster

I'd like Daniel Agger to be our new captain! his qualities remind me of Hansen and he's not soft with it! can stick up for himself and his teammate's!

tut tut tut sir bill ,sir bob and sir joe must be spinning in the graves with all the doom and gloom on this site...i ask all liverpool fans a question..did you all belive we would win the title in kennys 1st season in charge?? a bet half you were'nt calling for his head when we were beating the scum 3 1 last season or putting 5 past fullham.and i bet uptill feb when things were still looking half decent ,he was still king kenny....yes form has dipped and its not easy to take..but f***me cant we all just get behind the team..you all my be right kenny might not be the man for job.but he is the man in charge for now...so come on lets get behind the team you fickle fans out there

Well said mate- I'd have wanted progress to move quicker, but we've beaten most of the big teams this season and played some great football. We're only a couple of quality players away from being a top CL side.

We have gone backwards! That's why the fans are disappointed!

The team should be playing for us! They should be supportable. Are they supportable?

09 Apr 2012 09:51:29
These new owners couldnt keep away when they took over........Theyve only surfaced for the Carling cup glory and are always missing in action when we need direction........New stadia anyone?......Kenny under fire?........nowt,
At least Abramovich is on hand all the time regardless of his many faults.

The less intervention by the owners the better. They should be doing their business on the quiet not meddling like Abra does

cozinoz

Erm everton, manutd, arsenal home games etc etc

Which owner wudnt meddle the way things r going? They spent a fortune, only for it to be blown on some overrated n clueless britishers. Dalglish needs to go, for the club's sake. cant wait for him to step down.

ed are the macca rumours about carroll, soldado and muniain created by an impostor as they have a few spelling mistakes?

Maccas post are always confirmed if there in his section i imagen he put an e-mail in his post so they know its him

09 Apr 2012 09:42:19
I love it how Macca gets his own page but no one else does. I post the correct team news every week but it never gets put on here. Explain? Oh wait Ed002 will think hes hard with a sarcastic comment.

RM {Ed002's Note - What sort of moron are you? What has the "correct team news" that you post every week got to do with either Macca or myself?}

I think he ment he puts the correct team down and gets no credit where a load of people hang on maccas every word.....and also he may of got a sarky remark from you earlier at some point....and person was abit harsh....

Matty b

Matty b {Ed002's Note - Ok Matty, so do you want us to get rid of Macca's page or do you want us to give RM his own so he can tell you the correct team news EVERY week? And can you point out please where I made this sarcastic comment to RM that seems to be bothering him?}

I am with u rm...no2 can be very sarcastic

Correct team news? Mate you need to relax a little. Why so jealous of Macca? If you work hard, one day, you might also have your own page on a free football rumours website. Go and tell mum and dad thats what you want to accomplish in life. Write it on your wall. Then take a good hard look in the mirror at the sad case you have become.

Melbourne CFC

Dont listen to them ed mate, if you gave RM a page then you'd have to give everyone claiming to give us info a page. Ridiculous people on here with no common sense!
KiwiRed {Ed005's Note - We only gave Macca a page as a kind of contraflow system to ease tonnes of posts going into the main page which was becoming disrupting to other posters and ourselves - we're doing doing it out of favour because we don't hang on Maccas every word nor do we really convince ourselves of anything he says - if half the page hangs on Maccas every word it isn't out problem. Anyway, Macca having his own page is in high demand, no-one really cares about RM, no-one is really bothered about giving him his own page and quite frankly no-one cares if he gets the team spot on each week. Thanks for the support anyway KiwiRed.}

Ed002 is right- what has RMs team news got to do with Macca rumours? There's no need for jealousy in any shape or form.

RM can't have his own page for a once-a-week post. We appreciate the news, but it wouldn't make sense on its own page.

People go back and read over Macca's posts to check details, whereas the team news is a one-off piece of info that you don't go back to.

And if Ed002 stopped his/her sarcasm (and occasionally amending 'moron' to 'moran'), the world would be a duller place.

I think Ed002 spelt "moron" correctly don't you think?

Ed002 did indeed spell 'moran' correctly- this time. Twas not always thus...

I was reading a recent fans vote in a well known newspaper and 88% of fans think Kenny should go. Are you reading this mr Henry or are you too busy with baseball to take any notice of the club you took over falling quicker then the speed of light.

Unless all LFC fans voted I would not pay any attention to the stats preseneted. Pretty clear that the KK bashers would be more active in such a poll. How many of them argue stats about players are a waste of time as well?

iggypop

I don't believe for one second that 88% of fans want Kenny out. This is absolute b***cks of the first order.

I've just read another poll which says that 89% of LFC supporters believe in KKs project.

Funny how it would be 88% if it was roy, no difference in my opinion whos in charge , fact is we bought rubbish last summer,

Kenny Dalglish only knows to blame "factors outside his jursdiction" and not the real "distracting factors inside his
jursdiction!" The game against Aston Villa was another proof that LFC cannot recover under Kenny Dalglish. He stubbornly insists not to
realize that by stepping down as LFC manager will provide a real lift to the overall rehabilitation of the team and be kept respected as a real
legend! The same should happen with the
Principal Owner John W. Henry and Chairman Thomas Werner. Having in mind the well comprehended interest of this historic club which is further extended in protecting:

1. Their
investment

2. LFC's
sponsors

3. LFC's
world recognized brand name

4. LFC's
football heritage as one of the most successful football clubs in the history
of football

time has come for them to kindly ask Kenny Dalglish to step down as LFC manager
and provide him another position. Any
further delay cannot serve anyone and most importantly LFC!

Change the manager with 6 games to go?

Oh yes, then we can have AVB for six games, then let's have Rijkaard till christmas, and then how about we try Hodgson again next year? {Ed005's Note - It won't happen but what would be wrong with that anyway? If anything would give any new manager time to get to know some of the players and see whether he wants them or not, as well as implementing his ideas nice and early.}

All Manc fans I know want KK to go, what does that tell you?. There are currently 3 managers in the Premier league who have won it & KK is the youngest of these by 3 years. Kenny will get it right. What this great historic club needs is to off load the Chelseaisk type of "follower" that pretends to support them in the last few years.

Sunderland fan here but I watched your game against the geordie scum and was hoping you would win it, but when you were 1-0 down even I was thinking to myself why hasn't Dalglish made any subs, I thought Downing should of started as you looked weak on the left with Shelvey, Carroll did well but think he bottled the chance when he rounded Krul as he is a Cartoon army fan, in that game Dalglish didn't make any subs until the 75th minute and by then it was too late, He reminds me of Steve Bruce, doesn't have a clue tactically and doesn't know when to bring on the right subs at the right times, i think you need to make a change because if you don't you will finish midtable and Dalglish reputation with you will be ruined

Obviously I would like loads world class players 2 come to LFC but next season I think Lucas will be our most important player.

Lucas will need 6 - 12 months to get back to anywhere near the level he was at before his injury.

Steve

But if he broke his leg, then he would be more important than Downing

6 to 12 months
Is he Growing a new leg!!

Heard based on his performance v QPR that Ashley Young has been selected to partner Tom Daley at the London Olympics

Hawhawhaw - there goes another rib... people in glass houses mate.

Re: 'Hawhawhaw - there goes another rib... people in glass houses mate' Difference is the terrified British media say nothing when its a British/United player, it was disgusting-the bloke literally touched his shirt and he threw himself to the ground. Luis Suarez's name is followed by the phrase 'went to ground very easily' whether he did or not. So don't go giving us the 'glass houses' tripe because we and the rest of the league are fed up with the FA and Utd and I am not just talking penalties which the media managed to get Utd off the hook with I am talking about con stant shouts of handball, harrassing referees, Whisky nose time, getting players sent off AND dodgy penalties and free kicks.

What do you mean? I cannot find anything about Ashley Young in the media? What has he done?

Iggypop {Ed005's Note - Dive against QPR}

Did you watch match of the day 2? they spent about 10 minutes just talking about how ashly young dived and he's a dirty cheat - and this morning on sky sports news its been analysed and gone over about 5 times - all saying he dived and cheated - you liverpool fans are hilarious - you just see and hear what you want to hear.

none of your so called "penalties" were penalties when you played on saturday and suarez's reputation is what makes a ref's mind up - he has only himself to blame.

And how often does that happen? None of the penalties on Saturday where penalties and I suppose the handball last week was not one either? Poor Utd my heart bleeds for you maybe the tide is turning at last! Detach yourself from your prejudice against LFC and Suarez and ask yourself if they are penalties-Young did not have a leg to stand on (literally) and got a player sent off to boot, the ref could not wait to get the whistle in his mouth and did not consult his linesman who would have been the bravest man in Britain to have flagged after the ref had pointed to the spot-we can all see it and we are all sick of it!

I'm not a manc, i'm a neutral... man utd wont win the league because of some conspiracy involiving the refs - they are going to win because theyre the best, most consistant team in the league. they still scored later on and on the balance of play they wouldve won regardless of the sending off - you liverpool fans are so bitter its hilarious

I'm bitter actually I might be when it comes to Utd but I tell you what my nuetral pal (got to be a bluenose) I don't trawl other teams forums maybe we should go back to that phrase 'people in glass houses'

I'm not trawling - you made what i saw as a deluded hypocritical stattement, i challenged it - you've decided to argue and now you just look like even more of a bitter deluded scouse than you did at the start - i'm not everton either... i know it doesnt narrow it down but lets just say i support a team who's got more points than you in the league and wont be playing on thursday nights in ukraine next year :-)

The owners are flying in this week i would love to be a fly on the wall when they speak to kenny. I hope they see sense and ask him to leave at the end of the season. My gran could do a better job then him. Calling kenny useless would be to kind

Calling you clueless would be much more kind mate.

anyone think jordan rhodes is worth a punt..and before the sarcasm starts .i know he is a lower lge player and i know its a big step up to the prem ...just look at ian rush , if sir bob[he should be a sir in my eyes] had'nt taken a punt on rushy ,the would not be the legend that is ian rush...i am not saying he would be the answer to all r problems.but we wasted 35m on carrol who has never bin a prolific goal getter even before he signed for us 103app 34 goals ..and how much does anyone think we will get if we sell him on ??? i for one think he would be worth a punt. hell whats the worst that could happen

I would buy Jordan Rhodes as a backup to Soldado or van Wolfswinkel hopefully. Sell Carroll and Adam together witht he obvious one's.

Rhodes needs to start every game to continue his development, buy him then loan him out

Agreed! I think Rhodes is certainly worth a punt! Just like I was thinking Connor Wickham would be.......unfortunately it looks like we didn't pursue him or was not interested enough in him

Just out of interest would anyone else take Balotelli?

He's an person but he might actually grow up one day and he's got the talent, 17 goals this season.

Adam

I would, it's guilty pleasure.

Square tomato

Well he is very good player but as a person I must say he'd cause us lots. May be, I won't like him here cause of his dire behaviour.

4 red cards, wake up!
JayB

Perhaps on the cheap or even a loan

No way he would be a pain. He makes good TV you can't help but laugh at him.He gave a money to a tramp, can't wear a bib, has got 76 parking tickets, has a smash in a masarati, has a smash in a bentley, wears a oversized glove on he's head ,likes strip clubs before matches, 4 red cards, fights with team mates in training, fights with team mates over a free kick, and now he shares more with Rooney then just living in manchester : ).

Listen you deluded lot, KD has made this great club a laughing stock, his dealings in the transfer market have been shocking and you want him to continue next season ? Get a grip, this club will keep going down if he and his crop of over payed flops are not shown the door
If he had any respect for the club, he would step down and let the club bring someone else in
I think we could get JM as it looks like he will leave Real Madrid in the summer, and lets face it, he wins titles where ever he goes and in the past has expressed a desire to manage Liverpool
I would suspect 5-7 players will be moved on in the summer and that includes Pepe Reina, he has been awful this season and clearly has no fire in his belly
Carroll is another that is likely to leave but i feel sorry for the lad as i don't think we play the right game for him.
When all is said and done, the Carling cup and possibly the FA cup is not progress, Championship teams have got to the final of both cups so how is it progress ? Birmingham won it but got relegated!
progress would have been top 4 theres no doubt about it and we just haven't been good enough, and i'm affraid the manager has to take responsability for that. If we want to get back to where we belong, bring in JM, give him a 3 year contract and i bet we will be Champions within that period, players will come here because he is here, players won't come for KD when we finish mid table

RedDaz.........YNMA

You begin your rant by referrring to us as being 'deluded' & then you propose the installation of Mourinho!?. And on another note, what is 'YNMA' ?

dd

I can't recall JM showing a desire to manage LFC?? but you'r right about him attracting top quality players!

It,s the money he spends that attracts the players . ant

Why does everyone feel sorry for carrol? The guy doesnt want to be at liverpool. He wants his tyneside return. Complete waste of space. Id rather have voronin, atleast he wanted to play for us.

keep reading the get kenny out posts....but lets have a look at the bigger picture. i have to agree with most people that the players he has signed have bin poor.but is it kennys fault that dirk cant score from 2yards??.or adam or suraz cant convert a pen.. is it kenny fault that reina gets beat at his near post or enrique trips over his own feet ...no..is it kennys fault that we have hit the woodwork 34 times??...and dont get me started on carrol...i no are form is bad at the mo....but the players need to buck as well as once they cross the line they have a job to do...yes kenny has made mistakes .like playing skirtel at rb ag spurs for one..lets all get behind the team and give kenny and the boys r support..i for one never thought this season would bring champs lge .like so many did so when you expect to much you feel let down....beat the s**te on saturday and then go on and lift the fa cup..i will be happy man...lfc y n w a

You fans are so deluded. Kenny is rubbish he is the worst manager in PL history look at the stats. He will be sacked and rightly so he has taken liverpool backwards F the carling cup he is just as deluded as people like you. He blames the whole world for he's mistakes but himself. Even Agger came out and said Liverpool have been rubbish but not kenny he thinks we have done well F the cups the only thing that matters is the league everything else is second to the league. He is a joke the laughing stock of world football.A manager is judged on results and signings made he is a failure at both yet he keeps one of the best jobs in football.

Its a Conspiracy Theory: Kenny

Liverpool is using the Moneyball system for player recruitment, The club signed three new midfielders in the summer for a combined total of £40 million
.
Stewart Downing,
Charlie Adam
Jordan Henderson

these players were among the 12 top midfielders in England last season in terms of creating goal-scoring chances.

all three had attracted the attention of Damien Comolli, Liverpool's director of football,

Comolli is a disciple of Sabermetrics. The system uses stats to measure in-game activity, and relies on hard data, a rigorous process of analysis and a willingness to question previously held assumptions.

After Comolli moved to Liverpool, and on the completion of Downing's £20 million move there from Aston Villa, he introduced a new word to the vernacular of the English Premier League: 'efficiency'.

'Maybe his talent is a little bit undervalued in English football,' Comolli said on completing the transfer, 'but we know what we are getting: a very, very good, efficient footballer.'

Beane confirms much of Liverpool's summer outlay was based on stats. Uruguayan Luis Suarez, the club's star striker who was bought from Ajax for £22 million, is one such example.

'I know when they acquired him they used key metrics,' says Beane.

'I know Damien was looking at key stats and how they translated into the Premier League. It is fun to see his success. As for the other signings, we will see how the season goes.'

Beane, 49, warns there are misconceptions about Moneyball: 'People assume just because you're using metrics, that it means you spend very little. I would completely disagree with that. Ultimately you want to get the most value.

'Some great players cost a lot and they're worth every darn penny. It is a misconception that you're always looking to go on the cheap. Ultimately we're all running businesses, we know what happens if you don't do it correctly. There is not a business today that is not trying to identify what things have the most value.

'If you're a sports team you're trying to be as efficient as possible and invest in what really counts.

'Some stats don't matter, some do. If your team has a lot of money you can get the best of everything, but if you're a mid-table club, you're investing in the skill sets that create a correlation to winning. There are key metrics that work.'

{Ed002's Note - Moneyball and Sabermetrics were not used. Comolli will not be a fan of either because they apply specifically to baseball - not football.}

For about the thousandth time MONEYBALL WAS NOT USED TO BUY ANY PLAYERS.

Chris in Tamworth

The question does need to be asked though: these players were all 'statistically' decent before they came and now are dire. What happened?

Chuck Norris

They r either playing for a tactically clueless manager, or were nor ready for the step up to a bigger club.

Any chance of Liverpool getting pellagrini as the new manager

09 Apr 2012 04:33:02
D AGGER

We had a lot of good chances, especially at the end, and we didn't score - that is a fact we cannot do anything about now,' he said. 'It is a bit of everything; we are not playing well, we are not working the right way but we are trying everything we can and hopefully it will turn soon.
'We didn't score a winner and maybe that is maybe because we are not good enough or we didn't get the right chances.

'The fact is it was 1-1 and we have to give them (Villa) credit for working hard. "With a bit more luck we could have scored one more.'
End quote

And that's why you would be the perfect captain, you say what's REAL and don't try to mask reality, but most of all you inspire the team and the fans with your presence.

Hard to captain a team from the physio room. Pity, as he is such a great player.

been a liverpool fan since 8 years old and what a shame Emyln Hughes is not recognised amonsgst our greats. watched him cry when liverpool lost to man utd in the fa cup and said i'll support this team and a few days later watched them lift the trophy v broussia M - but i agree why not try GJ at right wing i asked some coaches - the reason being at right back you can run ino space at right wing you will be marked - and hence limitation of space.

Who says he's not a legend?
He is as far as I'm concerned

Chris in Tamworth

Emlyn is a bit of an unsung legend these days, but anyone who looks into the club's history will immediately come across him, and those of a certain age will remember him well.

A couple of ex-players rate him as the finest captain LFC ever had.

09 Apr 2012 02:04:44
Ed,

After your opinion on Charlie Adam, how do you think he has gone since joing us ?
I think, besides 2 or 3 games he has been poor and not LFC standard, his poor fitness and shocking tackling has been really exposed since Licas has been injured. Saying that I think most people new we were getting a lazy overated player when we bought him.

Which brings me to my next question, do you think there is a chance we will sell him this summer ?

Cheers
Aussie red {Ed001's Note - he clearly lacks confidence in himself and has been overawed by being at Liverpool. He should have stepped up and taken charge of all the dead balls, instead he defers to others and only takes the leftovers. That shows a massive lack of confidence in himself, he won't make it with us unless he sorts that out. It is possible he will leave in the summer, but only because there are clubs that are interested, not because we are forcing him out the door.}

Heard McLeish's Aston Villa are looking for a central midfielder after the real unfortunate news of Stillian Petrov's illness has put Adam top of their wish list.

He is crap mate ...he should never ever bin allowed to wear a red shirt

Was watching only fools the other day, the one where rodney buys the broken lawn mower engines, and rodney asks del 'well what are you going to do with these then?' to which delboy replies 'just do what i did - find yourself a right couple of plonkers with cash on the hip'.
Doesn't half remind me of comolli and dalglish in the transfer market. They should BOTH be axed in the summer before we end up with a load more broken lawn mower engines!

Peter

Downing first season at the villa was poor, his second was much better.he is begaining to bed in now.
bellamy has come in and worked hard solid player.
henerson is young and needs time to grow into a liverpool player, also mostly been played out on the wing.
luis has been top quality.
adam's head has dropped and his injury hasnt helped.
enrique has been a solid buy.
carroll is the real sore point, and will be shown the door.
so thats been 6 first team players who need time to bed in and learn how the team plays.

Ed's alot of the players listed on here I think are realistic the likes of pedro, sessegon, Luuk de Jong, farfan,
Florente, munian, wouldn't cost the 30-40m mark but are all fantastic players. Your reply's to these players are usually no they won't be moving to Liverpool. If we can't attract these players who are all available, who can we attract?
Post your thoughts! Cheers {Ed001's Note - there are millions of players in the world, your question is far too open and just doesn't lend itself to an answer. I am not going to list all the players that Liverpool could attract!!}

Your getting grant holt and ricky lambert... dalgliesh hasnt even heard of the players you've mentioned.

I'm really concerned about the comments of Dalglish!
He is always searching for excuses and blames the referees and lack of fortune for bad performances and results.
Eds any idea why he isn't just saying the truth as Agger did after the game, that we maybe are not good enough?!

This is really getting ridiculous now, he makes the club a laughing stock.

{Ed001's Note - because he doesn't feel that is the best way to deal with it.}

It's a confidence issue, it's the same team that beat Arsenal, Chelsea twice, and City over two games, it's a confidence issue.

Kenny Dalglish is obviously keeping an upbeat outlook. Just like Wenger has done at Arsenal for the last 6 years, only with no Silverware.

Your whinging pessimistic posts make the club so much more of a laughing stock than Kenny ever could.
Get behind your bloody team, if you can manage it till the end of the season.

When your a manager you have two faces and two comments.. you have the one that faces the media and supports EVERYTHING your team does and you have the one that faces the team and tells them exactly what you think... Have you never heard of Fergies hairdryer?.. does he ever come out to the press and slag off his players? Did Wenger see it? Not when the press are asking he doesnt!
Any man manager worth his salt knows when and how to b*ll*ck his players and its NEVER in front of the press!

Awesome site!
Needs - a good CB to replace carragher an who can step in for agger when injured.
Pedro LW/RW
Sessegon RW/CAM
Munain CAM/ST
Luuk De Jong ST to play with or backup to Suarez
With Lucas back an Gerard in the mid we would be a dangerous force! Any realism in these players Ed's? {Ed001's Note - Sessegnon is struggling to settle in England, Pedro is likely to have much more money offered elsewhere, Muniain unlikely to be keen either, but you never know with him. At least his club are looking to sell him, which gives us a chance.}

I dont think we need a replacement for carragher. wev got coates and kelly. we should look at a r.b

Ed001 if you were to play our strongest team and formation this season(without injuries) what would you play?
Id go for Reina in goals, Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique in defence
Gerrard Lucas Adam in Midfield
Downing Suarez Bellamy in attack in a 4-3-3
Thanks , Josh {Ed001's Note - Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique, Gerrard, Lucas, Shelvey, Downing, Suarez, Bellamy in a 4-4-2 for me, with Gerrard on the right where he can ping in those crosses.}

Gerrard on the right to ping the crosses in, for who!? Suarez and Bellamy both under 5ft 10'' Nah Ed.

I think it would be worth trying Carroll out with Gerrard out on the right for the crossing, nothing to lose in the Prem that we haven't already lost. {Ed001's Note - Tim Cahill is only short, not that it matters. Good crosses go in at the right height to be attacked regardless of height. Suarez is good in the air anyway.}

Doni - GK
Gerrard Skrtel Carragher Enrique -defence
Kuyt - Shelvey -Henderson- Downing - Midfield
Bellamy - Suarez - Attack

Cant we play Gerrard at RBK and take out the kid Flanagan. Just remove spearing, glanagan, carroll from the team. We might win a game.
Sub
Flanagan
Maxi
Spearing
Carroll

Reina

Johnson skrtel agger Enrique

Gerrard shelvey Henderson downing

Saurez Bellamy/Carroll

This is the side i'd play against everton

Suarez is listed as being 1.81m on LFC.TV.. that would make him 5ft11in.. taller than he looks!
ItsNotRocketScience

Sorry I forgot reina is suspended. Doni

I would never start shelvey. he is not a liverpool player. spearing, carragher, carroll, adam, flanagan, aurelio (injured all the time), henderson, kuyt and downing are all rubbish. i don't know why kenny does not start coates and maxi. we will never win the semis against everton and we won't win against the chicken farmers on tuesday. months ago we said that one day we were going to thrash a team 5-0 or 6-0. we can't even score 1.

Suarez is 6th tall and fantastic in the air.

Martin

Shelvey has a great future at liverpool, anybody who thinks otherwise is a tool.

Most fans are calling for another striker, which would be nice, however, it would kill any hope of developing Carroll (presumably the management haven't given up on him yet). I think we need a pacy right winger and most importantly, a maestro in midfield who can attack. I think most of our games we have no invention from midfield, so defenders don't have to move up the field, and therefore there is little room for the strikers to maneuver. I personally would like a player like Kagawa of Dortmund or Eriksen of Ajax. Not small names to say the least, but judging form FSG's history, they can and will fork over the cash when necessary. For winger, Adam Johnson would fit the mold well, but unlikely available. Perhaps Hoilett could do the task. For striker, I think the De Jong guy would be decent, and not too big a name to get upset if he doesn't start every game.

Buying another out and out Striker, might just take some of the heavy pressure off of Carroll's shoulders.

Carrol should be sold for anything over 12 million he has an awful attitude with his constant going out and getting locked

He can't move on a pitch as well and who convinced the Liverpool board to pay 35 million for him because they have to be the most stupid bunch of clowns in all of football

Carrol is also been the laughing stock of football for the last 18 months with that price tag he is only worth around 5-8 million max but if we sell now we may get more

What are the chances of carlos tevez? Ed's? Hes obviously gunna leave city in the summer. He is a proven goal scorer an works extremely hard. I think Suarez- tevez upfront with Gerard munian Lucas behind running the mid would be deverstating. Any chance of that eds? {Ed003's Note - None at all }

Am I right in saying that players are usually cut price from a relegated team?

If I'm correct there is plenty of quality in the lower teams that could help us for even squad players at cheap pries for example:

Moses
McCarthy
Diame free
Chung-Yong
Holden
Hoilett free
Martin Olson
Dann
Agbonlahor
Bent

Obviously not all four teams will get relegated but I defonately think some of these players could help us especially if they are available on the cheap.

You buy from low prem teams and u get a low prem side like we have now {Ed001's Note - you mean like United buying Young from Villa and Jones from Blackburn?}

And Rooney from Everton lol

Like Ian Rush from Chester city, Souness from Middlesbrough, Keegan from Scunthorpe, Aldo from Oxford Utd and so on......
KJS

Like Adam Blackpool even.

We did that last year

I post a list of players, & say i'd like us to be looking at some of them, & someone comes on saying is there anyone else you'd like to pick from Fifa??
Mate, I watch games galore, from SPL to Serie A & anywhere inbetween. I know a player when I see 1, & that list I feel has got some players that would stand alongside the likes of Hyypia,Alonso,Hamann & Mcallister. Legends in my eyes, & players that made me proud to support them. Players that took in the culture of the club, & left as heroes. We think of all of them as 1 of our own. Some of the current crop are not cut from the same cloth im afraid. So before you throw in your tupence worth, please remember, some of us are not happy with how our proud club is being dragged through the mire, & shamed in the most dispicable ways.

In short, we need our heroes back.

Dave Comolli

Speaking of fifa, I made up our squad from 2009. We were awesome that year! It really was a turning point.....we all thought we were moving on to the PL title in 2010, and the backside came out of er'.

Thank god for fifa.

Maybe cos ya put people like Scott brown in. haha shocking inclusion!
