Hi Ed,
I fail to understand all the talk about Liverpool not making any big signings this summer as we cant attract the big names. We signed Suarez in January when we were in a much more precarious position than we are now.
As of this, do you expect the 'marquee' signing that we have (apparently) been promised to arrive? and any ideas who it may be? (unless its Doni)

More rumours jumping on the Sneijder bandwagon. Sneijder is not joining Liverpool, nor is there a place for him in the squad.
Everyone is saying he will be signing for United, however I think he will be joining MCFC.

As a Red living in Ireland, I know how it can cost a lot money goin to see our beloved Reds, flights, accomadation, match tickets etc, and the share excitement of it all. To think that a group of thugs could possibly deprive fellow supporters of this chance is sickening. People travel all from alll over the world to LFC, I hope their weekend plans aren't ruined

He was watching Sly Sports news during the Copa America and after he'd bagged 2 against Peru, doing their report the presenter calls Liverpool PSYCHO Luis Suarez then goes on about him scoring 2. Thought it was a wind up or he'd mistook it for striker, but he filmed it on his phone and has just uploaded it to you tube. anyone else looked at the squad as a whole or even the starting 11 plus the most likely subs including the likes of johnson skrtel and gerrard and think kenny might just have pulled off the best signings in years? the starting 11 look stronger, subs look stronger plus the youngsters available to come in are more experienced and ready. I have no doubt there may be room made for other additions wether it be this window or nxt but I'm sitting very confident that this Liverpool team will play great football at times but more importantly win scrappier games where other sides in the last few years have failed. bring on saturday, YNWA sparky

I heard a rumour although not directly transfer related will affect all transfers, and that is if the rioting continues and to the same effect all Prem games will be called off due to the same reason as the international and that is police cant be spared to deal with match security. Really hope those clowns stop it as I have been lucking forward to kick off to see the Reds in action with the new signings. In a possible positive it could be one less game without Stevie G.

Look at what is happening in syria.
Sometimes you realise how football becomes meaningless in all this other times it becomes 1 of few good things left in life.

Scott Dann looks like he has the ability to forge a solid career at Anfield. What is particularly attractive about Dann is that he is a Liverpool supporter and would carry on the special gift of having home boys playing for Liverpool just like Carragher and Gerrard. Such footballers are a dying breed.

Ed if KK does bring in a few more players would you be a bit worried about all these players gelling quickly. If we get 2-3 more players that would be up to 7 new players for the first team. Do we need another technical attacking specialist? The agile clever cat that retains possession ghosts between the lines and slips a ball wide to the winger in space or through to the striker? Suarez is the closest we have at the moment, the fact that he played in all the forward positions for Ajax means his vision and movement in the final 3rd is as good as anyone, although I would like him to stay closer to the box as he would score and score again.
When teams come to Anfield and park the bus, in order to pierce through stubborn packed defences I would prefer we had another tricky visionary technical wizard to add to our play. Centre Back and Left Back are the most important positions to strengthen at the moment, but with the right deals permitting – I would like us to buy a youngish quality number 10 with pace whilst offloading Ngog, Aquilani and Joe Cole. Our 3 new signings so far are effective and functional; I believe they have improved our starting 11 and squad but I equally believe that we need another magician to excite the fans. What say you?

Hello Eds, I've been thinking about how the team will line up for the new season. Firstly, I was wondering what Glen Johnson would be like as a right winger? He seems to always want to push up playing at right back, he seems to have a good cross, and a nice turn of speed, what do you think?..As for the formation this is what I would like to see..Two wing backs, pushing forward and getting balls up the field, I believe Johnson will be very good in this role, as for the left back, I'm not sure there is still interest, but Aly Cissokho. He is very attack-minded and would have the attributes to succeed in this role. Enrique is more likely though, still wary about him, though he seems to be light on his feet, maybe could succeed at Liverpool. Our two Centre-backs should be Agger and Carragher. Agger, when injury-free is a top-class defender, who I would love to see remain fit for this season. Carragher, well another solid defender as we know, maybe past his prime, though I believe he has a couple seasons left in him. Right, onto the midfield. Lucas, he has progressed so much in the last season or two, and is now one of the defensive midfielders in the league, play him in DMC and he will work wonders. Then playing in centre-midfield, Aquilani or Adam.Both technically gifted with a killer pass + great vision, would like to see them on a rotation policy. I would like to see Gerrard, playing in Attacking Midfield, just behind Suarez. We all know what Gerrard can do, linking up the play etc. Left winger, of course Downing. Extremely impressed with him, was a bit unsure if he would work for us, but he has..Amazing cross, with the the ability to trouble defenders, good signing..Right wing, as I said I would like to see Johnson play a couple games there, see how it will work out. But Henderson would be good on the right with a good pass and a great cross, I can see him working there. Now, forwards. Suarez playing just in front of Gerrard and behind Carroll. Causing havoc in the defence, is going to be a sensation. Now Carroll, the big man needs good crosses to reach his full capability, needs work as his talent is raw..but can be amazing, hopefully he should blossom under kenny and get plenty of goals, but needs plenty of balls going to him. I think this will be a good formation, what do you think Eds?

Centre Back-Cahill/Dann 15m/9m
Back-up striker- Sturridge 20m unlikely, but would really like to see him at the club
Departures-
Aquilani-10m, would like to have him at the club though

I believe we will make two signings Dann and Enrique. This will strengthen the squad, even though their is much more to be done, I believe we have a good chance of winning silverware this season. In Kenny we trust

it irritates me to hear that our owners have already spent around 100 mil on transfers first off, the sale of torres and babel equals 58 mil, leaving around 49 mil or so that we have actually spent on transfers now i dont expect our owners to go crazy and spend like 200 - 300 mil but i dont see why they cant at least spend 100mil. {Ed002's Note - There is no way that is going to happen. The club is running at a loss, the owners want the club to be self-sufficient (as all owners do, or should do) and whilst they are willing to invest, as has been evidenced this summer in supporting the management team, they will be doing it responsibly. The owners are faced with a very tough decision over the stadium, building a new one will mean borrowing to invest and it could take well over 10 years to see that investment pay off. Without European football income is down and without Champions League football turnover is down well over 10%. Liverpool have responsible owners, you should be thankful.}

West Ham and Charlton games both postponed already and with police numbers saturated by the rioting cant see any other matches being played in the capital simply as they dont have the resources to police a football match. If this escalates further I genuinely cant see many, if any games being on this weekend. What a sad state of affairs. Wonder what it would be like to live your life having no thought to the consequences of your actions? Probably pretty stress free and it is everyone else who has to suffer. Please lets hope this is sorted soon to protect further innocent hard working people from having their whole lives turned upside down.

Slodge agreed with 90% of your post,from your opinions on Lucas to Adam to Kelly. But the only part i disagree with is about Henderson. I'm sure he'll be used more wide then in the middle this season. But just by his pace, power and being an such an athlete to go with his obvious footballing ability he reminds me a lot more of Gerrard then Beckham. I don't have any "rumours" to report on but what I have to say as a red fan is that the signing of enrique, mertzsacker and another winger will happen. It will undoubtedly be FSG ownerships signature signings and being an American, I understand the strengths of this organization and what it can accomplish.

I live in Ealing too the helicopters are swirling above us. I live 10 mins from the local high street apparently these thugs have even been breaking into residential properties. There are 50+ idiots causing mayhem locally. Shameless clowns. Heard that London football matches are likely to be postponed. Was looking forward to seeing Downing and Carroll play on wednesday. But I would rather be safe than sorry.

I live In London in a place called Ealing and i must admit it is absolutely terrifying. Cars are on fire, are shopping centre has been lotted and is currently on fire and my house had a rock thrown through it.

Can i just offer my congratulations to Lancashire for beating Sussex and getting to T20 finals day. I know where their official head quarters are but they've played a lot of games on Merseyside this season mostly at Aigburth and Southport. Well done lads,well deserved. Jonson6

One of the most dangerous areas on the pitch for the opposing team to have possession is anywhere between our 18 yard box & the centre circle. Especially down the middle of the pitch length wise. If a shot is taken in this area it may go in even by mistake. Gerrard loves to take shots from this area. Wingers also love to cut in & run into this area. Lucas keeps this area clear & if that's the main role of a holding midfielder than he's the best in Europe when it comes to this aspect of the beautiful game. He's not got the best range of passing in Europe. Alonso is. But we have Adam who has excellent passing ability & gives us width on the left & can switch the play to the right wing from a deep lying centre midfield position. Its the combination of players that matters. Not only the Carroll/Suarez combination but the Adam/Lucas combination & with a fit Agger & (Carra/Skrtel/Kelly/Coady/Dann) & Reina the spine of the team is as good as any in the BPL. I haven't even mentioned Gerrard yet. The statistics of our wingers speak for themselves. If Henderson is used on the wing I'm sure he'll prove to be more like Beckham than Gerrard. Kelly is as good as any right back & we're looking to strengthen left back & we have enough back up. Park Chu Young would be an excellent addition. I personally believe that City are a bunch of individual stars but we are a better team & will finish higher than them. Games are only won on the pitch. Not on paper.
