Personally really pleased with how the club'a handling Sterling. Set our valuation & refusing to take a penny less. We are standing up to player power and really proving no player will ever be bigger than the club.
Saw one comment earlier suggesting we should have taken the £40m, completely disagree personally, makes the club look weaker and Aidy Ward would have been right smug.

£40M in the hand is better than a grumpy player in the dressing room. How does it make the club look weak? It's not like it's an unreasonable bid for the kid.

Agree8 Disagree1

10 Jul 2015 00:43:52
And then we get about 50p next year

I love it too pal I really do, making us strong again but it comes at a cost as benteke and Kovacic 'two player who improve us immensely' seem to be hinged on something happening with raheem. Won't happen as we won't have the cash.

We can't count on raheem next season, so we're already a player light.

Can we banish him totally from training if he stays and isn't actually doing anything wrong. Will he then upset the dressing room?

And city will get there man next yr anyway and the only team that loses out is us.

Pick your battles. If he had 4 years left then yep this is perfect but as we know he doesn't so we're playing with fire and someone is going to get burnt.

So Konoplyanka signs for Sevilla. At last Eds, the end of that rumour. It's been a long 18 months since we were all set to sign him.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

10 Jul 2015 00:44:44
And in Jan it will be released he has a 15mil buy out clause and it will all start again.

I think kono rumours will be there untul he retires.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 22:15:15
So Kono has gone to Sevilla. At least that ends the talk of him joining us

Believable2 Unbelievable1

09 Jul 2015 22:53:58
That was last week's news

09 Jul 2015 21:31:12
Eds,

Do you see any of the players that we know are not wanted by the manager not going on the tour and being replaced by young up and coming players who are the pushing for the first team squad.

Would they be left behind to force their hand to move on or more likely be taken to keep in shop window?

Our squad is massive now and I'd rather see the likes of Rossiter , Sinclair etc get a space to motivate them to work harder to remain in the squad going forward.

cant understand why man city don't wait till next summer for stirling when he be lot cheaper ??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They would like him now.}

09 Jul 2015 21:04:16
If he's still with us next summer, when he's a lot cheaper, there will be other clubs competing for his signature.

It may have been rubbish, but I'm sure I read somewhere that he would have prefered a London club.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It will be sorted out one way or the other this summer. I don't know why you are having such strange thoughts.}

09 Jul 2015 21:12:54
You don't think there's any danger of both clubs being too stubborn to reach an agreement then, Ed002?

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - I have explained things as I understand them all the way through - I have no idea why you have these odd thoughts.}

09 Jul 2015 21:47:17
City will pay a premium now to actually get him.

Next year there will be a lot mote clubs that can afford him.

And if he ends up invoking the Webster rUllinG and becomes free then how much in compo and signing on fees will any club end up paying.

It could end up cheaper to get him now.

Agree0 Disagree3

09 Jul 2015 23:20:58
Yes it's very odd of you to deliberate as to why a club would spend 50 million on a player this summer when could be dirt cheap next which could ultimately attract other clubs (such as the ones in London that have been stated to have shown an interest this summer).

Don't understand why your replies are alsways so derogatory and demeaning ed. You make questions seem stupid and you to be the mighty wielder of all transfer knowledge. There is no need and you act as if we are dependent on you. This is one reader who is sick of your tone and will not be returning to the site.

keep up the good work!

Question.
I understand all the pre-season friendlies are to be shown live on LFCTV and LFCTV Go. Are they only being shown live? Or can you 'catch up' on LFCTV Go? I can't find any information on the mobile site.
I seem to remember somebody saying that you can watch them all for £5 but if they're only live then I'll probably miss them anyway

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jul 2015 18:07:49
They should repeat them on LFCTV. They did last season

Rumours are Lucas as vice captain.

Agree8 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 18:54:00
If the rumours regarding Lucas are true, that means he's staying. Good. He's our most consistant and reliable player.

Agree11 Disagree2

09 Jul 2015 19:34:29
Brilliant if true. Two stalwarts with the right attitude. Sterling take note.

Agree4 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 21:26:00
A vice captain that doesn't play? Yeah that makes sense :/

Agree4 Disagree4

09 Jul 2015 21:53:48
Well, we did it with agger

Agree6 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 21:48:22
How can anyone disagree for gods sake, our manager Brendan Rodgers plays with a deep lying playmaker so Lucas won't play! Therefore would be a stupid choice for vice captain. If anyone else needs it make more simple let me know

Agree1 Disagree3

09 Jul 2015 22:50:19
Bizarre, that was. Make him VC to ward off Barca's interest - then he ends up at Brondby anyway.

I doubt Lucas will be Vc though, he must surely be far from first choice.

Agree2 Disagree3

10 Jul 2015 00:38:57
I can see it going to skrtel. i'd hate it too as i want him gone.

Agree3 Disagree2

10 Jul 2015 03:09:09
I'd like to see the vc go to lallana. Was captain at Southampton and always gives 100% for the team. I also think, if he stays fit he can be crucial for us.

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 14:42:11
It's good to see joao teixeira back in training after such a horrible injury

Believable34 Unbelievable0

09 Jul 2015 15:04:26
Haha I came on to post exactly that bobby.

Made up to be honedt.

I've said it before but here goes if nothing can be arranged for Kovacic don't be surprised to see Jct given a chance as our DLP

Agree4 Disagree5

09 Jul 2015 16:07:54
He is not a deep lying playmaker to be honest.
Chirivella is right for that role but is quite young

Agree12 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 16:49:46
It's good to see Joao back, but he has no future at the club unfortunately. He more or less plays as an attacking midfielder or a wide player and it is an area where we have Coutinho, Firmino, Ibe, Lallana, Markovic and the likes of Milner and Origi too.

Agree7 Disagree2

09 Jul 2015 17:02:46
No chirivella is a dm.

Texteria is perfect for DLP role. Great vision, two good feet, relatively quick along the ground, young enough to adapt.

Kovacic isn't a DLP as what Brendan wants him to do, he will be show horned into that position aswel.

It's going to be beside Hendo and Milner two great engines getting up and down the pitch.

Got a good chance of working

Agree1 Disagree11

09 Jul 2015 18:27:26
Nobody mentioning Can/Lucas behind Hendo & Milner? Would be handy to gave sb there that can tackle.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 20:40:47
You seriously think Texeira has a better chance of becoming a DLP than Kovacic a man who has previously played that position? Texeira is a proper attacking midfielder he has no where the kind of strength required to play in a deeper role. Just because one's passing is great doesn't mean onr becomes a dlp. The role requires more attributes

Agree6 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 20:53:28
Reetred spot on . It's simple really he's an advanced player . He doesn't have the physical side for deep lying . He's a link up player . Good player but very much same issues suso had

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 22:02:31
lols, when would this page realize Can is not s DM, quite a few are aware if no place left in the team so let's play can at DM. jeeezzz

It was mistake by the TC to forecast Can as the replacement of Lucas.

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 22:55:53
Neither player can play that position whilst looking after the defensive side of things yet.

Neither are overly strong

Playing as a DLP requires good passing, good mobility, good vision and both possess That, so why can ine do it and not th e other

Oh one costs 20 mil and is now and shiny and the other isn't

Isn't this what you all want Brendan sacked for? Not playing youth but buying in?

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 14:35:35
With only City seemingly interested in Sterling and a third bid looking elusive is it possible that Sterling will have to stay and will he be played if he does stay

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - If the club cannot sell him then he stays. It really isn't rocket science.}

09 Jul 2015 16:11:14
If Sterling stays and then moves on at the end of the contract- would Liverpool receive a fee decided by tribunal?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - They would be entitled to part payment.}

09 Jul 2015 17:03:24
Should have taken the 40m and ran.

Agree3 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 17:19:17
Which would be terrible business??

Agree0 Disagree3

09 Jul 2015 17:47:54
Would a tribunal fee be affected by these 40mil bids from city?

And the wage we payed him?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

09 Jul 2015 19:21:00
Sterling ain't worth 50mil in other words twice the amount for Depay who is a much better player, not hating just being honest. The English media hypes up every young player to be more than what they are then they fade out as fast as they came about eg. Rodwell, Cleverly, Kyle Walker, Caulker tons of them. "All over hyped" and at the end of the day they end up being put under the spot light which makes their deficiencies pop up like zit. Should have taken the 40mil because in truth he ain't worth but 15mil - 20mil.

Agree3 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 20:06:41
Have to agree with redohio on this one. I would have accepted the last bid from City and closed the book on the whole affair. Seemed a reasonable deal to me.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 21:29:49
By the time qpr get there cut and Sterling gets his loyalty bonus etc we won't be left with much from any of it. Might as well put the pain in the arse in the reserves and run his contract down.

Agree3 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 22:02:12
y2k3
tbh mate you're prob right though I kinda like the stance the club are taking - think City will bid again closer to the 50 mil and we'll accept ok - crazy money like but English players def go for a lot more than they are prob worth, think back to the like of 18mil for Bentley, the 35mil for Carroll etc etc

Agree3 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 23:00:01
How is it, forever? Is he worth 50m? I wouldn't pay that for a kid still learning the game. Now we are stuck with this circus that would have been averted had we just taken the money and ended this farce so we can get on with the prep for the season. Obviously, some on here like our name being in the media for the dumbest reasons. Sometimes, you got to let stuff go instead clinging to a situation that would only make us look bad

Ed01, any updates on what the actual **** is going on with Sterling.
I take it the sickness is just men behaving badly in order to quicken up the process? that could backfire as we tend with FSG to stand firm? and he could end up having to stay and play his way out of it albeit the club wanting rid at the price.
Any information on what has been said
Neil

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is still trying to leave and the club are still looking to sell.}

09 Jul 2015 14:49:06
I'd suspect some of this could be mischief making by Man City through the little t###s agent, create an untenable situation to drive the price back down closer to £40mill. If we do dig our heels in and he has to stay, just watch the propaganda machine kick in saying how he was misquoted blah blah blah, i'd still imagine he will go though, thank f**k!

Thanks for all your efforts Eds, regarding the discussion on appointing the third coach I was wondering how they work as a team?
Are the training methods the responsibility of one guy and the others implement them in conjunction with that guy? Or do they all basicly do there own thing depending on who has got the team for that day? Thinking in relation to Gary Mac, i'm wondering if his failings as a manager are slightly irrelevant in terms of his ability to contribute to a great coaching team because of the completely different skills required for each role.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - usually the head coach will set out an overally plan, but the rest of the coaches will get some leeway on what they do with the players while they have them.}

09 Jul 2015 13:08:08
Just wondering on the eds opinions on possible outs?
if we look at the side now we have milner, henderson, lucas, allen, can, lallana, ibe, markovic, coutinho, firminio, ings, origi, sturridge and benteke (or alternative)
That is 14 players fighting for 6 positions and that doesn't include any youth or additional signings that could be made like kovacic.
Surely some of these have got to leave, I know we need a strong squad but including youth who could play a few games that would be more or less three different teams, I can't see players being happy with that or it giving any of the fringe/young players a chance

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Players will need to move on, yes. I have explained who seem the most likely candidates in the past but perhaps there will be at least one player leaving who was not expected to leave. We will see in the coming weeks.}

09 Jul 2015 13:51:55
Markovic?

09 Jul 2015 14:00:37
I would hazard a guess at one of Lallana, Lovern or Markovic

Lallana Ed? with Firminio signed that could be a surprise one.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 14:03:37
ed mate you are not suggesting it will be coutinho are you? not expected as you say, my only guesses are coutinho or henderson. won't be surprised if anyone else is sold. i have also heard about interest in coutinho from Bayern Munich. but it was twitter. now that you say so. fingers crossed.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 14:18:23
Ed002- I have seen about the unexpected player its not Coutinho is it beginning to get more and more worried that Firmino is going to end up being Coutinho's replacement. I could see Lallana moving on as it looks like he has fallen down the pecking order which is unfortunate because apart from Coutinho I feel he is one of the best players

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 14:22:32
No chance of it being Coutinho.

09 Jul 2015 14:27:50
Calm down guys. No chance we sell Coutinho. Not yet anyways.

Its likely to be Lazar because there've been murmurs about him not being fit for the premier league or sth like that. Think hell go out on loan.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 14:29:20
Love the excitement the cryptic one liner has created, nice on ed :)

My vote would be for Lucas or Allen, but an outside chance its Markovic, Skrtel or Lovren.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 14:47:31
It's Gerrard!
Ah no just joking, it can't be, he'd never leave.

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 14:55:03
Lucas or lallana will leave the club. However if Lucas leaves it will be down to him I imagine and not the club after he was told he was part of the clubs plans when there was talk of him leaving in January. Lallana has fallen down the pecking order recently and frankly was not really needed in the first place. We have too many attacking players that play centrally: coutinho, Lallana, Firmino, and Henderson and Can can also play there too as well as teixera too.

I wouldn't be surpised if Lallana left especially if pedro or kovacic come in

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 15:06:55
It's not Coutinho. Didn't you see the man love between Coutinho and Firmino when they were celebrating Robinho's goal in the Copa? Those two are looking to make sweet magic together.

Agree3 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 16:11:52
Going to suggest someone you wouldn't expect, Daniel Sturridge.

Agree1 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 16:31:12
can't see coutinho leaving, he genuinely seems to enjoy it here and now he has firminio, who he appears to be friendly from their time with brazil so i would doubt it would be him. Also can't really see it being lallana given that we paid 26 million and he wasn't a complete disaster so to sell him for a lot less (which we would have to do) would make the club look poor so can't see that either. I would imagine lucas (although hope not) and maybe markovic on a decent loan deal somewhere if one can be found, and possibly origi on loan too. still got my fingers crossed one to leave is Allen though

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 16:32:52
Never a guarantee of staying but Phil recently signed a contract extension in the blink of an eye and came out saying how easy it was to make his decision to sign. He got a lot of good press at the time which was at the start of this Sterling no sign debacle.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 17:40:00

You all go mad now but Ed02 actually dropped that little nugget on us 1, if not 2 weeks ago,
As long as it's not Henderson or Coutinho, I don't mind so much, although I'd be keen to hold onto Lucas too.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 19:50:51
I'm not going to suggest any player since its too broad to choose from and it just becomes throwing names out of a hat. I agree it won't be coutinho, just don't see it with him signing and so little from the guy or any news in general, I can't see it being him, but what surprises me is how many people think its Lallana, as someone mentioned, we paid 26 mil for the guy and he hasn't done terrible for us either, just hasn't had the opportunities to play due to injury, I think we should take a little slack off the guy, when he has played and gone a few games, he does pull magic out the bag every so often. Still a cracking player, I was just surprised by how many people think its him. Down the pecking order, is it just me but a formation of something potentially 4-2-3-1 with coutinho, firmino and lallana all interchanging with a striker up top. That sounds quite threatening to me. Milner and Hendo behind, or potentially Can/Lucas, BR could change it totally with a 3-1-2-3-1 layout. Who knows?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 18:07:53
Instead of me guessing, could you tell us who Ed because I am dying to know now?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It really isn't worth saying any more as the club are looking for interest in players right now.}

09 Jul 2015 21:56:17
I have a hunch, and I may be way off the mark here, but is it Sterling?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 11:12:28
Hi Ed02,
A question about buy out clauses if I may. I will use Bentekes as an example. It's widely known it is 32.5m. Would the selling club expect the full fee as a transfer or would they be acceptable of a lesser fee up front with add ons bringing it up to the full value of the release clause?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no "buy out" clause but a release clause or a termination clause which means a club meeting the set criteria (which might be £32.5M, or in might include a caveat to say it has to be a Champions League side can then effectively force the selling club to ask the player if he wishes to move. However, there have been instances where a club has still refused to sell and opened themselves up to a legal claim for the player (Liverpool is an example of this with Suarez). The terms are open to negotiation but in doing that it will not be possible to force the issue, it would need Aston Villa to agree.}

09 Jul 2015 13:20:56
Benteke, Pedro and Kovacic would be an incredible end to the window. Will definitely be good enough for a proper top 4 challenge/

Believable13 Unbelievable5

{Ed023's Note - I'd prefer Ibe played instead of buying Pedro}

09 Jul 2015 13:31:58
Please not Pedro.

09 Jul 2015 14:16:41
Kovacic will do for now.

Wait till next season bank our benteke money and see if we can blow everyone out the water for a lacazette or reus type next summer.

Agree3 Disagree3

09 Jul 2015 14:56:46
Reus? If he leaves he will have his pick of clubs. It won't involve Liverpool I'm sure

Agree3 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 17:06:42
As did silva, yaya, agueroooooo, zlatan, Di maria but they went were the money was!

Now I know we aren't flush but if we put aside the benteke dosh. Use what we have next summer alongside sone sakes then we maybe can afford that one luxury signing.

Don't forget next summer will really be our time to just add one or two worldclass players in those needed pistons.

Like the top clubs do.

Next summer it should just be a gk & st.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 17:08:01
Jimmy, where are they going to play and who goes to the bench and sold to acquire them? Just asking.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 22:53:50
I'd rather spend the money on a quality striker now rather than next season to be honest. I think if we wait until next season we will be too far off the pace to even think of attracting the quality players you suggest. We need to strengthen now what would we do keep Balotelli so he can score like no goals. Origi and Ings could obviously get a few between them but we need guaranteed goals unless he is going to play Frimino up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 13:20:17
Hi Ed023. On a scale of 1-10 how close are you to committing Harakiri with the next Sterling question?
Barry inLouth

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed023's Note - I've had to google Harakiri there lol}

09 Jul 2015 14:24:53
Lets analyse this.

We have Lallana, Ibe, Lazar, Sterling, Coutinho, Firmino, Milner and Henderson who can all fill in as wingers.

I don't expect Coutinho, Firmino Milner and Henderson to be played on the wings predominantly though, so Ill exclude those 4. Raheem I'm sure will be sold.

That leaves Lallana, Ibe and Lazar. Good chance Lazar could be loaned out but even if he stayed, that's 3 wingers for 2 spots.

Pedro would slot right in at LW. WHe's also be the only pure left winger we'd have.

We will have about 60 games or more to play next season let's not forget, and the squad will all need to play their part.

I can see Ibe starting 35+ games easy especially if he has a great preseason.

09 Jul 2015 12:59:02
This has to be one of the most exciting attack minded Liverpool teams on paper I have seen in years. I just hope the new management team can tighten up the defence. Kovacic if signed would be my final piece of the jigsaw (we need a composed playmaker) along with Benteke who will offer us something different, although not quite the finished article. Looking forward to the new season with a real sense of optimism. Great work Eds love the site.

Eds, I appreciate there is loads of Sterling questions coming in all the time at you guys, but what in you opinion is the most likely outcome? Surely he's destined to go on tour this weekend as it looks like City are not coming back in for him. I'm just trying to weigh things up mate and would appreciate your help please?

Ed023 but don't understand Liverpool's interest in Kovacic.Already our squad is overrrun with midfielders.I think
Rodgers is making things complicated either at the end of season we will see many unhappy faces in the squad or he might have become so good in rotating the squad.

Agree4 Disagree2

{Ed023's Note - Kovacic is wanted to be a deep lying playmaker - Gerrard was that before he left - well Rodgers thought he was - Kovacic would be Gerrard's replacement}

ED023

I have been using the search frunction, but cantfind any real updates, so wanted to know if you could maybe update everyone in regards to Mateo Kovacic

We know Inter will not sell him to Liverpool under the proposed offer / payment plan / conditions that Liverpool originally offered.

So, have Liverpoool gone back to Inter with a better, more suitable offer on there terms? Or does the same original offer reamin on the table, in hope that Inter will change there mind, to raise funds for there incoming transfers?

Or have Liverpool retracted the offer altogether with interest waned, and perhaps thinking about moving onto a another target in that position?

Do you happen to know who the club will look to target if they cannot secure the services of Kovacic?

Thanks in advance for any info you can pass on

All the best

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed023's Note - You have answered your own question there buddy. Liverpool at the moment are not willing to up to Inter's demand but I think - as a hunch - we will come to an agreement with them}

Kovacic is a very good player barca could do worse than replacing iniesta with him in a few years

Kovacic deal will happen by the end of the window. We need a playmaker just like Gerrard did a season ago and Kovqcic is the player for now and for the next 10 years.

A better version of Wilshere. And the new Alonso.

09 Jul 2015 13:47:14

Sell Sterling for a striker (still hoping we pay up for someone like Lacazette or Aubameyang but think it'll be Benteke). Sell Allen for Kovacic.

That would be an awesome way to close out the window.

Thanks!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed023's Note - No idea}

09 Jul 2015 12:19:02
i think he will put off mancity if he continues like this. mancity are parting with 50 million pounds and with that money they could buy players 10 times better than sterling both on and off the pitch. ( come to think of it i think 50 million pounds would be enough to buy likes of griezmann, marco reus, kevin de brune, lacazette or even a cavani , higuain , isco etc etc all much much better than raheem.) city know they are grossly overpaying for sterling but they believe in his quality and that he would come good, but if raheem goes on like this i am pretty sure city might just re-think where they investing money and might move towards other targets. they might just want to wait till the last day and only sign sterling if they can't sign any one else. which i fear is what will happen. i think we are in for a long one month of raheem's moaning and his banter spread on this site.

i agree with ed 23.kovacic will be gerrards replacement and will prove to be a great buy.
We will have enough midfielders who can play different positions, and if we really interested in illaramendi who is a good passer a bit like xabi we have lucas replacement in.
my only worry is the left back position we need a left back that can defend and support the attack from the wing, willems from psv is a very talented player will suit our play.
Games a re won in midfield if we get kocacic+coutinho, hendersen, milner, firmino,Can.we will be strong.
We need to bring in 1 top striker and aim for top 3.
Sterling will leave and we don't need a replacement we have ibe, markovic, orogi and milner who can play on the wings.
striker, kovacic, illaramendi and willems we be a force again.
we need to say goodbye to a few enrique, lucas injuries got him but has been a class act from the day he arrived, borini, balotelli, lambert and i hope allen just not good enough.

What really winds me up with sterling requesting to not go on tour is the fact that he gets paid a ridiculous amount of money and he has the cheek to act like a petulant child because he doesn't want to do something? It makes me angry even thinking how much that guy needs a reality check.

On another note this season is going to be a massive battle for top 4 hopefully. What's everyones predictions? Mine is Chelsea arsenal city Liverpool (slightly bias) but it is just that hard to predict.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

09 Jul 2015 11:54:40
LFC should have sold him by now. can't believe he is still at the club. just throw him out with a kick on his backside. city fans well the ones i know really don't want him. and he will so know the pressure of a megabucks transfer when he will be made fun of on almost every football page there is as soon as he flops

my prediction would be Arsenal, mancity ( depending on signings) , chelsea, manchester united. i don't see liverpool in top4 because we haven't even 1% strengthened our weakness . no goalkeeper no striker.
we have got few coaches in and a lot of internal changes, might end up 5th but i see likes of tottenham, everton, southhampton, west ham and stoke as our competition and not the elite4. unless we sign someone out of the blue (though i hardly could think of anyone) we really are not there . but if we do get kovacic and someone like benzema/lacazette/pedro we will be challenging. i still fear our defence is just not there.
i would play a 4-1-2-3-1 like most . with lucas protecting the defence and kovacic/milner and hendo with lallana firmino and phillipe with any one striker. we would have a bench with ibe,can milner, which is very full of energy.

Ok I don't know Raheem but if the comments about him not wanting to play for Rodgers anymore are true it just makes me think he's a complete person. Rodgers has always tried to defend and protect the kid and made special efforts to manage his development. So what's Sterling's problem? Any gripe about being played out of position is crap since what you regularly hear and want to hear from players is: "I'm always happy to play and play anywhere the manager asks me to help the team."
I have a feeling Sterling may have held a grudge ever since his dressing down on the Being Liverpool documentary. Well, he can bog off. I just hope his behavior doesn't put off any potential suitors. The sooner he's gone, the better.

I have no time for Sterling and , like most people on these pages , I am looking forward to this nonsense being over and everyone moving forward .

However , in considering his motivation , I just wonder whether he has tapped in to the complete contempt that the senior players have for Rodgers now , I can't easily forget the sight of virtually the entire squad celebrating the 6-1 defeat at Stoke on holiday in Dubai , having packed their bags before the match and travelling to Manchester airport immediately after their showers . None of them expected Rodgers to survive the summer .

I know we are encouraged not to live in the past but Bill Shankly must be spinning cartwheels at the moment , he once told a supposedly injured player " it's not your knee , son , it's Liverpool's knee " . That approach would never be accepted by modern players , even on monumental wages .

Morning Eds. What do you think about the rumour Gary McAllister is joining our coaching team. IS it a good move? Not had a great career as a manager but do you know anymore about him to think he'd be a good addtion?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, he is a very intelligent man, with a real knowledge of the game, but he has not impressed as a manager. It is difficult to say, because it depends on how well he can embrace the lesser role of a coach rather than a manager. I would say I am cautiously optimistic on this one as I loved him as a player even before we bought him.}

09 Jul 2015 08:31:01

Agree0 Disagree4

09 Jul 2015 11:44:18
Someone who the fans can connect with?

And tbh doesn't matter how good he is because of the strength of the coaches we have.

What a apprenticeship for him, Brendan, Sean & Pep will all be in front of him.

Even if he is utter crop ad a coach, he isn't going to be able to do much damage.

If it works out though and he is good and learns well off the coaches there then what a team we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2015 18:19:39
Think he could well be the Ronnie Moran type - the bridge between the manager and players. Not so much for the on field tactics but to get involved with the man management of the team, judging the morale and general mood of the squad.

Do you think it's true?

His agent publically declared that Raheem would not sign a new contract even if LFC offered him 900k per week.
This was stated before the end of the season and before the end of season review where FSG backed Rodgers.

I'm calling BS.

Agree3 Disagree1

09 Jul 2015 09:12:52
As Ron states the comments from Ward were made before the end of season review was done, so BR would have been gone and a different manager be at the club.
Personally I would think that the comment about falling out with BR has some truth in it, but it's not the reason he wants to leave.
Had he and his agent not been acting & saying things as they have then we may believe he wants out due to the manager, but they come away with no credit at all.
Suarez for all his faults & wishes to get away did knuckle down to business and had arguably his best season. Sterling has gone from young player with promise that we didn't want to lose to someone who we would all happily drive down to the Ethiad
