OK Damien lets put a plan together for the players we want...........yes please Marina just one sugar!

The first trick is to convince old whiskey face that we are interested in certain players eg young Phil Jones whose about 10% as good as Mathew Kelly. While Im away on holiday next week, you start a load of rumours in Koptalk that we are interested in Ashley Young, Phil Jones etc............ but whatever you do make sure LFC completely deny any rumours that we are interested in any of these players.

At first weve got to get purple nose to waste about 40 to 50 million on johnny average players..........plus hes got to think that hes stealing them from under our noses!!

Once hes bought them we sneak in and get our real targets.

The real targets I want you to go after are Jordan Henderson, ........ oh thanks Marina watch you dont spill the tea now..........ooops told you to be careful didnt I .................

Now where was I .......

The very best I think we could hope for signing this summer is Wickham, Downing, Mata, Adam, Cissoko and Sakho.

Would be the best/realistic signings we could hope for. If these happened i would expect Meirles to go and if we also signed dann then i think agger will go too.

Weve bin linked with some average players lately who are over priced

Now there a young lad at river plate 19 years of age called ERIK LAMELA and he is pure class he would take the piss of DOWNING, ASHLEY YOUNG and river plate have slapped a 15mil price tag on is head now for a 19 year old you not fink 15mil is a small amount for a very good investment?

AND PEOPLE WHO HAVNT SEEN THIS LAD PLAY GO ON YOUTUBE AND CHECK HIM OUT!!

YouTube would make ngog and sean dundee look the best lfc partnership in years with igor holding the midfield!

can someone chek the aguero pic out on dodgy sightings? i think hes been sneeking to lfc for meetings.

Anyone else like Ciaran Clark of Villa? I think he'd be a good alternative to Jones.

Stu.

09 Jun 2011 23:46:31
I hope the Clichy rumours are true! In my opinion, he & another CB would complete our defence; then we will just need a LW and possibly a RW and our team will be complete & ready to get #19!!

09 Jun 2011 23:41:04
anyone know what hendersons number will be?

09 Jun 2011 23:39:55
someone said that liverpool are not willing to pay £10million for scott dann when they were willing to pay £16million for jones, and dann is better than jones i doubt they would refuse to pay £10 million for dann

09 Jun 2011 23:39:31
Liverpool target the papers will be talking about tomorrow is from Chelsea. It must be either Yuri Zirkov or Malouda.

09 Jun 2011 23:36:04
GAIL CLICHY would be good signing

09 Jun 2011 23:35:14
Any news on Marc Albrighton anyone? Fits the policy perfectly, young, english, bright future and has definite potential. He's quick and has a great cross from what I have seen. Bit lightweight but that can be easily solved, be a great addition to our squad. Is there any chance of us signing him?

Now that the Henderson deal is complete does that mean that we won't get Charlie Adam and is young definitely signing for the mancs or could there be a late twist in this story

No deal for Miereles. Needs to stay with us. has had a great 1st season and is important to the squad. Remember the Spurs game at Anfield. We got completely dominated in midfield. Why? No Raul, thats why. This cannot happen!!

09 Jun 2011 23:21:39
last season was long and hard

(teeing you up here guys)

09 Jun 2011 23:21:09
Damien Comolli said this:

'On the fee, I've read and heard a lot of things. There was a lot of speculation on how much we would pay for Jordan and none of the figures I've seen are correct so far. We've paid a price that we are comfortable with, otherwise we would not have done the deal.'

Make of it what you will. But it seems that the reported 20 million isn't correct.

T-Dog.

Raul leaving would be the biggest mistake we ever made. I would rather sack off Adam than lose Raul. Please post Eds

Purely observation and opinion but I find the Ben Smith article a tad naughty (Coming from a pay wall site), claiming a new name linked with Liverpool yet that name has been linked and mentioned in several places for a number of weeks.(hes on about gael clichy)

09 Jun 2011 23:01:40
liverpool have allready made a bid for gael clichy afer signing jordan henderson, i beleive it was bout 6 million.i would like this move, kenny can make him a better player defensively and we no how goo he is going forward.what your thoughts ed? {Ed001's Note - I don't rate him at all, his crossing is poor, he is weak in the tackle and is constantly caught out of position.}

09 Jun 2011 22:58:26
The signings of Henderson, Adam, Downing, Marveaux and Dann are all realistic.
Don't think any of the other signings mentioned are realistic: Aguero, Mata, Johnson, M'villa and Sissoko.

09 Jun 2011 22:56:17
on the big signings arguemnts we do have money plenty of it and were not shy to trow it about trust me The argument from many people has been that we wouldn't be able to afford world class players again I tend to disagree. John Henry has recently spent $187 million dollars on two players for his Red Sox baseball team and Damien Comolli has stated "If there's a possibility of us getting a world-class player, we will have the backing".

sakho our main target for a centre defender you herd if here 1st i dont need a source cause i know im right

If were gonna spend £20 million on a young engligh lad, then we must have money to burn, i for one am looking forward to who we get next.

just a thought, but why sell meireles? He has been an outstanding player for us this past season. Get rid of the dead wood, not a player who has fitted in perfectly at the club.

Ed's, was just wondering...does Macca annoy you a little bit? He seems to have magically become an Ed himself, without the time and effort that you guys have to put in.
Some of the people worship him on here. Has he proven himself to be a truely valid source, or is it that he has cunningly persuaded the vegetables of the Liverpool rumours page to believe anything he says?

Thanks for your time

Simon :) {Ed001's Note - I have no problem with Macca at all, I have spoken to him a few times outside of the site and he seems genuine. No source will ever be entirely correct. It is actually a bit of a break to have him answering questions for a change ;o)}

just a feeling i've got no inside info or sources but i reckon turan will go to chelsea with hiddinck, nasri will go to man u and ashley young will sign for us.

I would be very surprised if Bojan agreed to be part of that deal, can't see him going to Udinese when other clubs are looking to buy him. Why would he want to play in that league, if he has chance of Premiership.

RedBlackOsprey
================================

Maybe because Udinese in the champions league and can offer him first team place.

Roy

Re above:

Roy - sadly you could be right. Just think it is a very bad decision by the player and very short sighted. Not only is the Italian league no where near as good as it used to be they aren't even one if the truly great clubs - if it was Juve or Inter you could see the attraction. There is no way they will get anywhere in the CL and think it sad that a sort participation would be enough to tempt him! Though that may of course say a lot about modern footballers. Forget whether he joins us or not - wot little I've seen of him he looks as though he deserves to grace a bigger stage with a bigger club. I wonder, now udinese are clearly in the running for him whether other clubs will make a move so as not to miss out? There seems to be a lot of that going on! If barca weren't in the market to buy sanchez and possibly others, don't think they would really want to sell him. But they have said they only have 45m to spend and doesn't go far these days! 45m being considered a small amount - wot would Shanks and Paisley make of that!!

RedBlackOsprey - clearly showing signs of becoming a grumpy old man!

09 Jun 2011 22:26:18
so it seems the owners are gonna put there hand in there pockets then this summer. ive gotta say that they look to be doing it the right way, spend big this year before the fifa ruleing comes in to play next. they are also aware that increasing the income will keep them in the mix when it comes to transfer fees and wages over the coming seasons..... i think they really have taken to how us liverpool fans like our football club to be run.
delighted with the henderson signing, think he is gonna be a great player for us, although im unsure on where that leaves shelvey?
jeffren will if he comes be a real star, anyone who comes up through the barca ranks can obviously play football.
if downing is signed {which i doubt} then mata will not be coming, they would cost between them around 45m and one of them would be on the bench, just dont see it myself.
i would prefere cahill over dann but thats just personal choice.
got a funny feeling that glen johnson will be left back next year with kelly right back. kelly looked a class act when he broke in to the first team, and to develop him further i dont see kenny dropping him.... i also cant see the first choice england RB warming the bench to someone in the u21's. so either a switch to left back or maybe johnson will seek a move.
charlie adam... poor mans alonso i know, but could be a great addition, a 3 man midfield of adam, gerrard and henderson sounds ok to me. alll 3 can defend, all 3 can pick a pass and all 3 can score a goal.
conner wickham, sounds like a deal maybe close... time will tell! a big ask to get first team football ahead of carroll and super suarez { who will get player of the season next year im sure}.
i just wish people would calm down abit with some of the foreign players, we are 9 days in to june for crying out loud. at least let the international transfer window open before people jump on the backs of the people working extremely hard to get these deals in place.
gonna be a great summer im sure, and a great season, king kenny is gonna write a new chapter in the clubs history!!

ed what do you think about shelvey now henderson has arrived, maybe loaned out? a sweetner in a deal for taraabt or charlie adam? think that would suite both clubs as blackpool would get a replacement for the season and cash, and shelvey gets experience playing first team football in a team that plays good football.

matt 27 {Ed001's Note - Shelvey will only go out on loan if he goes.}

09 Jun 2011 22:22:49
i think all that news about clichy is rubbish only 5 mill and hes only 25 years old and mabye one of the best left backs in the prem what do you think ed.

and also i've been hearing alot about jefferen suarez i've watched a few videos on him and he plays a bit like suarez what are the chances of us signing him ed. {Ed001's Note - I don't rate Clichy at all, I think he is poor.}

can anyone shine some light on what formation we will play with all these midfielders being signed an the ones we already have? i have total faith in kk but Gerrard, Lucas, miereles, spearing, shelvey, henderson and if we sign charlie adams an honda which i have heard rumours on him again which im really excited about because he looks like a class act! a possible 8 midfielders???? whats goin on? any thoughts on this ed? cheers guys love the site :)

LFC wooz

There are so many options on this. I believe we will probably have 2 formations with one most definately being the 352 that we played against the Mancs as Glen Johnson and Henderson could very easily play the wingback roles. The other being 433 as we could still play with width whilst easily being able to change our game to a more compact passing side. As for being over laden with CMs, I don't agree. Gerrard spends time on the sidelines almost every season. It is widely rumoured that Shelvey will probably get loaned out for playing time and if you believe some, even Merieles is off. We had no depth for 2 seasons and now we can look to rotate more. Players will be hungrier and fitter in the games that they play and without the Europa (even though I would have been happy to get it) this could be to our advantage in the league. Any thought Eds? {Ed001's Note - I agree, we need the strength in depth.}

09 Jun 2011 22:14:08
It will be sad if Raul M does leave, as I think he had a good first season in prem.Ed I can i ask why do clubs undisclose fee's for tranfares?
DAVID_K_o1 {Ed001's Note - I don't know, I don't think they should be allowed to do that.}

09 Jun 2011 22:09:41
Ed just checked the arse rumour page, no mention of a bid 4 clichy

09 Jun 2011 21:51:55
Hi Ed's,

Can you tell me if there is any truth in Raul miereles. I would be gutted If he were to leave.

The only good thing that came out of the Hodgson sarga.

Your opinions please guys. {Ed001's Note - I am not 100% sure what will happen with him sorry.}

Damien Comolli had better pay attention to the very real prospect that Utd Scout Martin Ferguson has been keeping a very close eye on the following two players:

Patricio Juli n Rodr guez, an Argentine left winger. He is 20 years old & currently plays for Independiente, the new Cristiano Ronaldo.

AND

Xherdan Shaqiri, a Swiss left winger. He is 19 years old who plays for FC Basel in the Swiss Super League as well as the Swiss national team, the new Marc Overmars.

These two -apart from Eden Hazard- are THEE best two young left sided wingers available anywhere in the World at the moment & Comolli should move fast for one of these two, as they're both technically excellent, gifted young players who will easily blow the likes of Ashley Young clean away!!

i f***in hate west ham, but would love parker

09 Jun 2011 22:08:56
Ed do you know what the hold up is with ngog ?

Aussie red {Ed001's Note - he doesn't want to join Sunderland.}

also do you know why he doesn't want to join them?

Thanks a lot {Ed001's Note - I believe he thinks he could get a bigger team.}

And for the umpteenth time in his Liverpool career N'Gog's head fails him miserably...

09 Jun 2011 22:05:44
Ref this:

"Rumours flying around that Liverpool have enquired about Aguero, to which Atletico have said £25m + Jova + Pacheco + Meireles. I'd be fine with that, as long as we sign Adam to replace Meireles."

This would price him at £45-50 million. Bit steep that. There are other players out there

IOM TT Update - Still Sunny good forecast for tomorrow fast racing guaranteed and I saw Double Glazing Salesman / ITV4 Presenter Craig Doyle today - mint

On to the real stuff.

I feel KK & DC are doing a great job Henderson is a class above Spearing already and a completely different player to Shelvey. By buying Henderson and declaring an interest in Jones (whether we wanted him or not) has forced MU to play their hand early and buy him for top price MU often do their buying late in the window. (He is a CB not a MF and price will be lower accordingly) also it appears that this masterstroke will force Blackburn to hold onto Samba and stop Arsenal strengthening the backline where they need it most.

Scott Dann - Mr Wenger will buy him ahead of us leaving us free to sneak our real target - lovely stuff

So are we doing the same again - I don't see Ashley Young as a true LFC player are we turning his head to force the Whisky Mans hand leaving the way open for us to sign our wanted man.

Come on Alex sign the cheque to Villa and let us buy our real targets.

Look forward to the next few weeks - and it has been a pleasure to logon and see all the MATA - AGUERO - and the rest have been given a day off from the site.

FYI - Guy Martin full time Racer and part time BBC boat builder to win tomorrow

Fans have to trust KKs judgements on players, I think the man has earned that trust & successful record as a manager.

We might not b linked with "marquee" names but he is building a young squad with EPL experience & add 2 that meireles & Suarez experiences last season.

If u read DC interview they r looking 4 players with EPL experience over players from other leagues 1st. So if that's n'zogbia, dann, Adam, wickham, downing n so on so be it, they wunt b my choices either.

But that's why you n me ant professional football managers & Kk is, we r just fans with opinions.

But u all av to trust Kk in what he is trying 2 build & remember already a lot of real quality & experience in our team - reina, Johnson, carra, agger, stevie, raul, Lucas, kuyt, Suarez n
Carroll.

I know we're paying slightly more for English players but I think English talent is very underrated in this country. Look at Spurs: their first team includes Dawson, King, Lennon and Defoe and Crouch, Huddlestone and Rose are mainstays of their squad. They were a top 4 team 2 seasons ago and are still pretty close. United have Ferdinand, Brown, O'Shea, Evans, Gibson, Carrick, Owen, Giggs, Scholes and Fletcher as British/Irish players in their squad and like it or not they're not doing too badly. British players tend to understand the game in England better, and players who've played an England have a huge advantage over players from the Spanish league where football is practically a non-contact sport. Just look at the list of players who've flourished in Spain but been underwhelming here: Sinama, Rossi, Forlan, Del Horno, Tiago, etc. etc.

Comolli said in an interview today that we won't go for players just because they're English, but if there's a choice between an English-based player and a foreign-based player and all other factors are equal, we'll go for the English-based one. So can people please stop saying stuff like "Mata excites me, Downing doesn't". Downing has a better goals and assists ratio than Mata and has been a consistent performer in this league for years. Mata would be a great signing but so would Downing. I for one trust the judgment of Kenny, Comolli and the board.

Adam, Wickham, Cissoko (lb), Jeffren and Mata all to come in. With Elia and Downing as fall backs for the wing.
I still want Aguero but that's wishful thinking :-D

C'mon people we need to stop dreaming. I for one think that Ag ero is a world-class player, but he is out of our price range. As you mainly know, Liverpool was given a 50m transfer budget, plus any outgoing transfers to bring in new players, that means we should have 70-80m to play with. We have spent 20m already, so that leaves us 50-60m, if we were to bring in Ag ero that would set us back nearly 40m, or we could p/e with Jovanic and Pacheco for 30m. Then if we got him, we would have minimal funds to bring in a new CB, LB and a LW. We need to forget about Ag ero and concentrate on getting the key positions filled. Liverpool need to build themselves back up, it will take time, but we shall once again be a force. This is going to be a key transfer window, Kenny knows what he is doing..belive in him. Trust me, there is no better man for the job.

Harvey Keirle.

09 Jun 2011 21:20:25
Does any one know how many years contract henerson has signed?

09 Jun 2011 21:17:58
Just a thought...with the club wrapping up Henderson so early and looking likely to go after Adam now, I reckon Kenny and Comolli must be pretty confident that the owners will finance a number of deals. Otherwise we'd have surely signed a winger or centre-back first. Looks to me like we'll be getting a lot of players in this summer :)

Also, Henderson imo is being viewed as Gerrard's long-term replacement. If Gerrard were to get injured, we'd have Henderson, Meireles, Aquilani, Lucas, Spearing and Shelvey. You can even add Adam to that mix if we sign him. With Henderson being 2 years younger than Spearing and Adam being more suited to the PL than Aquilani, I can definitely see us selling Aqua and Spearing. Although it would certainly be no disaster to keep either or both of thos players.

Seems to be a lot floating around about Connor wickham 9 million fee. Apparently fee agreed but won't agree terms till after u21s. Although he may be back early as apparently he came out of a tackle from phil jones badly in training. Fees not a problem so be one of the following in each position first choice first
Lb. Enrique/ chissoko
Cb. Dann/ sahko
Lw. Mata/ downing
Rw. Undecided
St. Wickham.
No rush at the moment so it will take a while to see if first choices are interested. I heard only likely signing is wickham before July. Ground work is well underway on inquires about dann/downing/Enrique but all avenues will be considered. Adam not a top priority now Henderson has signed.
Also jeffren is looking good

Henderson = old news. Another top #LFC transfer story in Times tomorrow

Another Twitter story I know, but Henry Winter also said "#lfc front 6 next season could be (2-3-1) Gerrard Henderson; Kuyt Suarez Downing; Carroll. #goals"

Was intrigued by Downing - I've been hearing that LFC and AVFC are miles apart on their valuation of Downing.

The signing of Henderson proved that we know and will know basically nothing about transfers until they happen.

DC stated in an interview that Henderson had bee one of our targets and I for one didn't see that coming.

So if this is just the beginning we have a very exiting transfer window!

Ed, whats the hold up with the Henderson deal? Why has it not announced? Is there a problem?
Also, all of our reported targets are decent players like Adam or Downing, but am I alone in feeling underwhelmed by these names as none excite me like Suarez did.
Would be disappointed if Comolli's experience and time spent scouting bring in these types of players? Is our priority not wingers rather than central midfielders?
Ed/Macca, everything, what you think?
Players like Mata excite me more......

first henderson, now adam..i agree with the squad depth thing, but i think centre mid is our strongest position!the priority should be wingers and a left back and maybe a cb and a st as well.then if time and funds remain available midfield can be improved.
Does adam signing mean an end of meriles?meriles is soo much better!

does interest in dowing and marveux mean no deal for mata?:O :(

Just been told that a player is due at melwood on Saturday for a medical! Not sure who the player is but know it's definatley not Downing, Young or Dann! And it can't be Mata because he's with the spain u21's I'm wracking my brain to think who it could be the only 2 players I can think of is either Adam or Wickham! This has come from a reliable source! Fingers crossed don't think any one else has posted this! So if I'm wrong I'll hold my hands up but like I said come from a very good source! I think that 4-3-3 could work with suarez on the rightside of the 3 and then when he cuts in, henderson on the right of the 3 could cut out as he can play cm and rm therfore turning it into a 4-4-2 so my would be

Charlie Adam has gone to 1/10 to sign for Liverpool this summer. Personally I don't even want him we've got Gerrard, Henderson, Merieles and even Lucas that are better central midfielders than Adam, he would fit in a mid-table team like Bolton or Everton.

Just a thought, but when the site added the 'reply to post' option I thought it was a good idea, but it's a real ball-ache scrolling through everything to get to the discussions you're involved in. At least before the most recent posts arrived at the top of the page - now everything seems a bit less immediate. Probably just me being stupid..

Good site though...

RE: Dr Alban...

so LFC expected you to break the hypocratic oath and divulge another patients medical history.... it is clear liverpool must be new to this transfer malarkey, either they have crouch's permission- which would mean we are 'tapping up' as, as far as i am aware spurs have not give the ok- or you stand to be struck off.

unlikely.

09 Jun 2011 19:06:11
Phil Jones & Henderson.. When questioned on sky news stuart pierce admitted the pair had been given special treatment to sort out their futures and join up with thew squad later, saying also "If I was in their position, I'd want a deal tied up before I went to a major championship" admitting then went to sign for a club(s) but when questioned by the reporter to confirm phil jones to manchester united & Henderson to liverpool.. he distracted, then distracted again until flatly pointing out he would not answer that question...
Why not when he's admitted and said and commented on everything else...
Now this could be because of the 'rumoured' phil jones medical failed as ST would not want to talk about his starting defender possible carrying and injury or anything negative before a finals...

But this does raise the possibility of both player actually both joining the same club (either possible)

Just imagine if for some strange reason the new owner of Liverpool did in fact realise that this is there last chance to spend money before laws are changed.. and realised that without HEAVY SPENDING we would not get back into the top four of ManU/Chelsea/arsenal/mancity/spuds and that will mean staying out side of that top 4 forever(obviously not the plan you have when you buy a business-liverpool) think about it when moneys no longer a question with caps for clubs and players.. all good players and all good young players will all chose to join CL qualified teams. This meaning all the good players for less money(top limit) added to your already star studded team and with the ever increasing football revenue... This model makes for very profitably business structure ! (just likes Chelsea and man citys)

If this was in fact true.. Then that would mean a layout from liverpool of 30+ million on just 'players for the future' in area's (rm/cm & cb) These are not our high concern area's and every idoit 'n their dog' know this (especially EVERY SINGLE football club we may purchase from) Buying both players this even more so if Young is already ours aswell) will send out this statement of intent that everyone is asking for.... the statement along the lines of "the new owner understands the coming change within the market of football and is investing heavily into the future of liverpoool football(before its too late... last year we can) and p.s i've cash to burn!" with us having far higher prioritys(although young would be one of these) clubs will hold us to ranson over filling these posistions with 'hit the ground running' players and even squad players...

Not good business sense...

So financially (while the euro football market watches how much each english club is spending/has) it makes sense to not confirm/make known these sorts of deals.... make spending seam small then euro markets is open.. spend all at once so by time clubs take notice of the availably money all deals are already concluded ..

The only problem with this theory is that this would mean somewhere along the line man united is helping us... as strange at it may sound if we ARE spending big(also the 'young' tug-o-war business may be a factor)then they would want to keep us happy so they can not have us outbid everyone of there transfers (something they and chelsea have been doing for years....

Or it could just be something else...

just a 'living with hope' theory

Please post ed as i think some need to think before knocking some rumours, I wasn't the poster of original post but, I think the poster of this reply needs to sort your head or, so players wouldn't get to meet Clark? Future Players wouldn't be shown around melwood, I gues the canteen would be out of bounds to future signing???? Great work eds.

We have on good advice that Liverpool have agreed a fee with Ipswich for England U21 striker Connor Wickham. The 18-year-old who is currently away at the European U21s tournament has been tracked by the Anfield club for sometime.
It is not sure if personal terms and a medical will take place before or after Wickham returns from International duty.
This deal, once completed, will only further confirm that David Ngog is likely to be sold by the Reds,

Hi Ed I'm just wondering if we have shown any interest in Southampton's Chamberlain? Arsenal and the scum are in but why haven't we stepped up too?

He plays a problem position for us and fits FSG profile, it's baffling.

Apparently Valencia will take 9 million for Banega and an English club is interested according to reports. Would you think this would be the reds?

Genuine rumour - I live in London but my dad comes from Liverpool and I have a lot of family and friends in and around the city, one of which whom works at Melwood as one of the canteen staff. He's just sent me a text saying that he's seen a Latino looking guy walking through the canteen with Steve Clarke and two guys in suits. He didn't however recognise the Latino guy, but overheard a discussion about contracts. Take this how you will.

So Steve Clarke deals with contracts and they discuss terms of contracts in the canteen? This latino looking guy could be Roberto Martinez and he is being lined up as the new manager....LMAO

I understand FSG want young players to develop within the club and retain or increase there value in sell on fee's if needed...But all prem winning clubs have had at least two match winning foreign stars that have the skill and ability to change a game...Buying only English will not do it i'm sorry...so i just hope we can add a Mata or a Hazard type player to the wings...Downing and Marveux is not getting me too excited I could be wrong and hope i am...

The whole JUAN MATA coming to liverpool rumour personally i dont finks its goin to happen cos the player that liverpool are targeting for the left wing position is STUART DOWNING at 26-27 years of age

DONT GET ME WRONG I HAVE COMPLETE FAITH IN THE KING.

But truth is english player arnt as tenchnically gifted as what spanish, brazil etc.are and to be honest i would love liverpool to play like barcelona do or arsenal for that matter so would like see likes of MATA
PEROTTI
MARIN
JEFFREN
BOJAN
You know players like that put on a liverpool shirt otherwise we'll lose out like we did with phil jones.

Edinson Cavani will be crowned football's most expensive player if his club Napoli are tempted to sell the Uruguayan striker for £85.5m in the summer.
That is £5.5m more than the current record of £80m for Cristiano Ronaldo when he joined Real Madrid from Manchester United.

Hot prospect: Edinson Cavani could cost suitors an estimated £85m
Cavani, 24, has scored 20 goals this season to convince Napoli they can win the title.
An Italian source confirmed last night that Manchester City tried to sign Cavani three months before they completed the transfer of Edin Dzeko.

These reports of a 30m + euro bid are true from what I know, but not for a player from Spain. My sources tell me the bid is for Mario Gomez. I for one hope the bid is successful. Shanks767.
----------------------------

I don't, I'd rather see it bid on a winger (or two) like Hazard or someone cheaper like Gervinho instead of wasting another another £25m on a striker when our current star strike force cost us £58m already.

Juan Mata and Jeffren Suarez will be heavily persued in order to solve the width problems at LFC.

---------------Reina---------------
--Johnson--Carra--Agger--Enrique--
-------Gerrard--------Meireles------
---Jeffren-----------------Mata----
-------------------Suarez----------
-----------Carroll------------------

Subs: Doni, Flannagan, Kelly, Skertel, Dann, Robinson, Henderson, Lucas, Shelvey, Spearing, Kuyt.

we realy spent 20m on henderson for him to warm the bench but i guess gerrard will be injured for the majority of season anyway

Why are people on here talking bollocks about Scott Dann not being good enough for LFC? We had Kyrgiakos and Christian Poulsen in our side with regularity last season. An experienced 24 year old thats 6'2", an a Capped English International, for less than 10 m - GET HIM IN !!!

09 Jun 2011 18:20:06
we aint getting mata. would people stop saying this. we will get downing 100% n'zogbia hopfully. and i really dont want merieles to go he was at least 1 of our top 3 star man last season. lucas should go, even with the improvemrnt hopfully he will bring us more money to spend.

a much cheaper option for a winger is dries mertens(belgain). Check him @ youtube. He has the same style like hazard.

Liverpool should go for cavani but 15 mil ed that's not enough.

have u see wot kraptalk are claiming hahaha

KOPTALK sources claim that Liverpool are to offer Sunderland £15million and the possibility of a player, for midfielder Jordan Henderson. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is attracting interest from numerous Premier League clubs and Sunderland are willing to sell (although publicly they may deny this), but they have mooted a figure of around £20million, ' - MEMBERS WEBSITE, 2ND NOV, 2010

JUNE 1ST 2011: 7 months later, The Independent, The Mirror, The Guardian, The Express, Daily Mail, Others, all report Liverpool are interested in signing Henderson.

put this up ed he needs shootin

Henderson should not be our solution to our wide problems! He is not a natural winger, yes he can cross but we are going to keep suffering in attack unless we get a speedy, skillful PROPER winger not a player who can play on the wing. I am also dissapointed by the list of our 4 main targets downing (average), dann (average), Adam (slightly above average) and marveaux (average but atleast he's on a free). We need to do better to challenge for Europe, players like Mata, Bojan, Sakho, Malouda (back-up).

-----------Gerrard--Lucas--------
Henderson----Suarez----Downing
----------------Carroll-------------

Would you be happy with the above Ed?

Personally I wouldn't. I like Downing, I think he's good, but if there's one position we should really push the boat out for it's the left wing.

09 Jun 2011 17:18:01
At the risk of romanticizing the situation, I'd say that, if everyone (including us) were to not make any signings going into the new season, this team would have as good a chance of winning this championship as anyone else.

I've looked at the teams of City, Chelsea, the Manc Filth and Arsenal and came to the conclusion that the gulf in quality really isn't that huge.
Thing with us is that we rather have one too many substandard to mediocre back-ups.

Since City have the strongest squad (on paper) and the most depth, I'll use them to do a comparative assessment of our team.

REINA vs HART
Really, it's no contest here. Pepe's by far and large the best keeper in the league, if not the whole world.

G JOHNSON&KELLY vs RICHARDS&BOYATA/ZABALETA
Ok, this a close one. Jonno's far superior offensively whilst Richards edges it defensively. Though Kelly I rate better than Boyata and Zaleta, it's fair to say that we neck and neck here.
Both Jonno and Richards would walk into the respective clubs and Kelly, Boyata and Zabaleta would more do a good job for each side.

AURELIO vs KOLAROV
They're superior to us here, though not because Kolarov is such a great player, no. We don't have a proper lb, that's why, and they do have one, who's decent.

CARRA=SKRTEL vs KOMPANY=TOURE
The latter two are better, simple as that. We lose here.

GERRARD=LUCAS vs TOURE=BARRY=DE JONG
Imo, Lucas is better than both City's latter. Lucas closes down better, intercepts well and does an excellent job of making himself available for a pass and moving the ball.
A superior man's Busquets. A perfect fit for Kenny's philosophy of how the game should be played.

As for De Jong and Barry, it's well and good being "combative" and "robust", but that doesn't help you dominate teams and win matches.
"Enforcers" are only of greater use when much emphasis is on nullifying and shutting down the opposition (the way City often plays and exactly how Chelsea would play with Makelele).

Now we don't/won't be playing that way. Kenny envisages an approach la Barca: possession football. Impose our own game and just batter the opposition all 90 minutes.
It's self-evident that in such a system you'll rarely be lunging into tackles as you'll more or less be in possession of the ball, therefore rendering an "enforce" redundant.

Look at Busquets. He's no bulldog who goes flying into tackles. He closes down, intercepts, makes himself available for a pass and has the composure and finesse to keep the ball or move it precisely whence it should go.
It's the same with Lucas.

So for me it's Lucas over those two, for he is the kind of the player who'd excel in the way we envisage to play the game.
Re. Gerrard and Toure, I think even staunchest City fan would be hard-pressed to dispute the fact that, at full tilt, Gerrard is quite literally the most devasting midfield going forward.

Terrific knack for a through ball, fantastic runs and a finishing simply outta this world. Zidane once attested to this fact.
So, imo, Lucas and Stevie are far better than those Mansour mercenaries masquerading round that City midfield.

ADAM JOHNSON&SILVA
are evidently miles better than Maxi, who's just about the only winger we have (if he's even a winger, to beging with. Is he?)
So City beat us here. Fair enough.

SUAREZ=CARROLL=KUYT vs TEVEZ=DZEKO=BOZOTELLI

Suarez is virtually just as good as Tevez. He just has to add more goals to his game. I'm sure with better quality nxt season, he'll do just that.
Carroll's superior to Dzeko in every ways.

Holds up the ball excellently, scores with his feet and head, creates for his teammates via flicks and layoffs. On other hand Dzeko does... uhm, well... bugger all.
Bozotelli would even it for City.
I'd say we all square in front.

So in short, it's only at cb, lb, lw and rw where City, the strongest lot on paper, are better than us. In other words, only Kompany, Toure K (slightly), Kolarov, Silva and A Johnson who'd walk into our starting XI right now.
There rest are no better than our six key seniors (Pepe, Jonno, Stevie, Lucas, Luis and Andy).

So if we can bring in Sakho and Dann, Cissokho/Vargas, Mata, Benzema and, say, Payet, we'd be insanely strong.
Sakho and Dann imo would make a pairing better than Kompany and Cahill.

Cissokho/Vargas are twice the playe of Kolarov; Mata can have just about the same impact here as Silva's had there and I can see Benzema easily having the same kind of impact El Sulk had for us some coupla yrs ago.

And the beauty about these players (Sakho and Dann, Cissokho/Vargas, Mata and Benzema) is that I think we'd a) afford them, they, d b) want to come and they'd be c) better value for dosh than Aguero(£39m), Coentrao(£25m), Cahill(£16m-£20m) and some of the other options bandied about.

We not at all far away from WINNING the championship.
With sound investment this summer, it CAN, it SHOULD, be done at the earliest time possible, which is nxt season.

I see no reason why not, really.
Do you, ed?

Malva {Ed001's Note - with kenny in charge anything is possible.}

This was my worst fear, "next four signings hope to be downing, dann, adam and marveaux". I really thought when the owners said they would spend bigthey would spend it on quality, these players mentioned are not quality they are average un-execiting players who will add no flair to our team.
Downing - No pace, not skillful, a decent shot, decent cross and incable of starting for England even though he is one of only TWO left footed wingers in the squad. A mediocre player who will not change our fortunes.
Dann - Another average player who is really better than what we have got, Skrtel and Agger I think are both better than him. In this position unless they are quality then there is no point getting them.
Adam - ANOTHER average player shining in a poor team, Meireles is better than him, Gerrard is far better, Lucas is better, and henderson is better. We DON'T need yet another centre midfielder.
Marveaux - Never seen him play but again seems average. At least he's on a free though.

These are Roy Hodgson quality signings, they will not get us in the champions league, none have played regulary for any top team. When Daglish was our scout he was targeting players like Aguero, Turan etc so I thought "yes now we'll start bringing in some real quality" but no he's signing players just slightly above the level of roy's signings.

Sakho - Every time i've seem him he's stood out as a defender younger, stronger than Dann and already in the French national team. Yes he would be slightly more in cost but he is far better. Akso can play at left back.
Mata - I think we have a good chance of signing him as out of all the interested teams, we provide a garanteed starting line up place. This guy is absolute class and would really excite Liverpool fans. Yes he's 20m+ but he is worth it.
Bojan - We need back up strikers, on on his day he is a real real talent I remember a few seasons ago when he was playing regulary in the champs league he was scoring quite a few. Similar to Sturridge, when he has playing time he shines. Probably arount 16m but if we paid it for Henderson i'd certainly pay it for him.
Another cheaper winger or left back - Diego Capel/ Malouda/A.Johnson etc or Monreal/Cissokho/Gibbs

I know many fans may be happy with those players Kenny has mentioned but I want Liverpool to aim higher and compete for the title not settle for 5th/6th place.

I don't understand all the negativity about Adam on here. Seriously, how many people actually watched him last season? I watched him a lot in the second half of the season, and he has an incredible left foot. His passing is second to none in the Premier League. We haven't had a great passer since Alonso left, Gerrard is our best long passer and he's not the most consistent. He'd give us a little thing the top teams have called SQUAD DEPTH and he'd be a different option to Meireles, Henderson and Gerrard who all play a very similar game. He'll be able to cross for Carroll from deep and every set-piece we'll have will be dangerous.

As for worries about his form in the second half of the season, I reckon most of you people don't actually know what you're talking about. Yes, he was naive at times in the tackle and gave the ball away too frequently, especially in his own half. However, it was his first season in the Premiership! He will get used to what you can and can't get away with in terms of tackles as he plays more games. And the reason he gave the ball away more than other players is because Blackpool would give the ball to him every time they got it. He was bound to give it away a few times, and we won't be so reliant on him so his game will improve. And even when he had a poor game he'd always play at least one brilliant pass that created a goalscoring chance.

I don't understand all the negativity. Agree if you want him to sign, Disagree if you don't!

As much as i like liverpool of buying young talant i think they're going about it wrong! british talant is to expensive!
henderson @ £20mil could get us hazard mata or sanchez @ 22-24mil euro!

Downing @ £13-15mil or wickham @ £10mil could get us one of lukaku or neymar @ 25mil euro

Dann (as good as he is) @ £10mil could get sakho @ 10-12mil euro!

Real have signed Sahin for 8.6mil and last season ozil for about 10mil

barca got afellay for about 2mil!

£10mil on wickham seems crazy to me for a championship player who barely has 10 goals, plus we have suarze, carrol and kuyt. We need width and downing isnt the man as he has no real pace!
I also think we'll miss out on Mata as we seem to be buying players for pos we have plenty of (CM, CD) We are suppose to be lookin the best young talant not just best british talant! Im i the only one who thnks this? Ed would u like to add ur 2cents?
sorry for going on so long lol {Ed001's Note - Downing is quick and he can cross, he would be better than Riera was and he did alright for us.}

Wouldn't worry about losing out on young - over priced and overrated IMO. Two players I'd rather we bought Honda and arda Turan myself personally; both players I believe are more capable and can bring more to the team, not to mention cheaper!

Hi, questions for the ed's, annoys me when people do this so apologies but couldn't think of anyone better to ask. Henderson has had medical, deal not officially announced however he does feature on the LFC website even paraded in training gear, is it past the stage where another team could come in and bid for him or is it "as good as done" with no problems expected in the conclusion of the deal. Just curious as to how transfers work once certain aspects are agreed but deal is not finalized. Thanks in advance. {Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out now it is just waiting on the FA to process the paperwork.}

All the talk on the London centric press and media(Sky Sports, Daily Mial etc) is that Henderson is going to replace Gerrard in the next couple of years. But i reckon gerrard has 3 good years left as a player at Liverpool and I would say by then Connor Coady and Suso will have be been unleashed on an unsuspecting numpty audience!

downing is one of the best wingers in the world haha lol i really hope we don't sign him there seems to be alot of rumours and reported interest in him plus his turning 27 this would be a dam bad buy his to average, hope we sign mata but i can't see it happening unless man city gives up on him, hope we don't go after adam either he cant even get in man city line up so something must be going on there seems like man city babel, it's gonna be hard to get top talented wingers, no hazard no sanchez but theres that slight chance of mata or marin.

We received a request today from liverpool asking if we knew if peter crouchs back problem had been cleared or if it is a long term issue today. Not saying lfc are interested but its theonly the second time we have dealt with lfc, although we have assisted mr crouch before

Didn't say Jordan Henderson was the best young British players , one of i said.I'll agree that Wilshire is right at the top of the tree with as one of the best young players out there as well.I'm not saying all Liverpool fans are being negative but more then what i'd thought there'd be.No offence ment to anyone who thought i was implying that the majority were against his signing/transfer fee. Now lets sit back and see what other top players we bring in whatever age they may be.Unless a player is over 28 and not a keeper that is, and watch the action from front row on this great, addictive website.Top job as well eds. Time for a bit of serious contemplation.
IF we buy what we have targeted .....
If Adams arrives and is paired in a midfield with Gerrard and Downing, then there are going to be a number of serious and 'senior' players who will be unhappy - and maybe with some justification.

A midfield four of Gerrard, Downing, Adams and Henderson would leave players such as the following on the bench (or in the stands):
Lucas
Meireles
Shelvey
Spearing
Kuyt
Marveaux
Suso
Pachecho

Four of these are serious contenders for a midfield spot. They will buy into Kenny Comoli's plans, but you can't blame them if they are unhappy if they are going to be bench-warmers for 50% of the season. Having paid serious money for Meireles and Henderson, can we leave them on the bench? Will Shelvey and Spearing think - why have I signed on when others are into the side before me? Am I just going to be a back-up player?

The same issue will be at the back. Enrique could almost be guaranteed a place at left back, with Johnson shifting across. But what about Skrtel, Wilson, Dann/Sakho/Samba/A.N.Other if they arrive? Carragher and Agger might be a first choice. I can't see Wilson wanting to hold on for much longer for a chance. I couldn't see Dann or Sakho (maybe even Samba) agreeing to join us to warm the bench.

Same upfront: we have talked about Jeffren and/or Bojan. If we get one or both, with Ngog still here, plus Gervinho being looked at (although predominantly a winger, he wants to push forward like Young would have done) then it is similar for the strikers. Suarez and Carroll are first choice - where does that leave Kuyt or say Bojan. Kuyt might accept a more 'retired' role on the bench, but why would Jeffren or Bojan - or even Mata who is similar in many ways to Gervinho - swap Barca, Valencia or Lille to be on the bench.

Damien Dalglish has a bigger job off the field than on it next season. We are gathering a strong crop of players, but even with an elementary understanding of football rotation, it is not hard to see very difficult issues ahead.

The solution will be to sell a fair number of our better players and Lucas, Meireles and Skrtel may be the ones. This doesn't even take into account the views of players like Flanagan, Robinson, Mavinga, Coady, Wisdom, Suso and Pacheco. Many (not all) of those younger players will be expecting to finish their Academy/Reserves experience and move into the first team squad as Damien Dalglish has indicated in his recent words. Like Flanagan last season, they will now have higher hopes of making the bench. Mavinga has already hinted such. Are they going to be happy suddenly seeing the arrivals lounge of LFC stuffed full of new travellers taking their first class seats?

This is an exciting time for the club and Kenny Comoli and his team are working well to bring us quality players. My concern is what affect it will have on the ones I have mentioned (particularly people like Shelvey, Suso, Lucas and maybe Bojan/Jeffren) and how will we cope with a squad that is becoming larger. We can offload the likes of Poulsen and Jovanovic, but do we really want to ease out Lucas, Merieles, Kuyt, Carragher and some of the younger ones at this stage?

I don't want to spoil the party and dampen the optimisim that seems to have been floating about over the past few months but lets face it, Utd have the edge on us. We end up with Henderson, a player they've decided against, they steal a march on Jones (the next John Terry) they nudge us out of the way in terms of Young. Whats the situation? Have we got to sit and hope that Utd don't express an interest in any of our targets. It seems as though we no longer have any appeal to young players or the agents are just not buying into the FSG project. I'm a little concerned that we seem to be settling for second best (Scott Dann, Stuart Downing, Charles Nzogbia), these players aren't an improvement on what we have. I fear the Henderson purchase is simply because Meirelles is leaving. If we can't offload Aqualani, it could stifle even the most modest of transfer intentions. Utd have secured Jones, young will be next, Schneiders rumoured and no doubt there will be others. I fear we will be falling further behind the big guns if the emerging tone of the transfer window is anything to go on.

people coming out saying Connor Wickham is signing, but isnt he with england U21s?

09 Jun 2011 16:13:48
I'd just like to say some people wern't too happy about the cost of Henderson but they wouldn't of complained if we had paid that much for Modric yet Henderson had more pass completion, same amount of goals and more assists than him last year.So i think it's an awesome deal.

since when do claire rourke and kay L murry do transfer deals for LFC!!!

stop it you muppets! LMFAO!!!
----------------------------------------

Did I say she was here to complete a deal? No. But if there is going to be a transfer from Real to us, then don't you think it's going to be reported on by both of the clubs broadcast teams? I know no-one can officially sign until 1st July, but doesn't mean the deal cannot be done and recorded now!

Now, back to my original post. The more and more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Just look at Higuain's record. It speaks for itself, and we know what FSG are like with stats!
A career total of just over 200 games, 93 goals and 42 assists! 135 goals both made and scored in 207 games. Not bad for a 23 year old, which also falls into FSG's policy. Not really sure about how much he would be, but Suarez, Carroll, Higuain seems a damn good strike force if you ask me!
Again, I have no inside info, just my own gut feeling.

The Mighty Beams! {Ed001's Note - why would Madrid sell their best striker?}

where do you guys think henderson fits in this season? i personally believe he will be playing right midfield, with his crossing ability he would be perfect for carroll and we have enough quality centre midfield

I work in a coffee shop by Anfield and we always have players coming in for coffee's and it was weird because i had a call earlier saying that Aguero would be popping in and to make sure he had 2 sugars in his coffee and chocolate sprinkles on the top and he also would like a seat near the window.. Well come on it's just as good rumour as all this nonsense of physios, doctors, cousins, hotel receptionists, airport workers, groundsmen, photographers, shirt printers etc etc lol

All these so called average player's linked with liverpool, averarge player's = average team we need top player's , top player's=top team , not impressed with wickham, adam, stop all this crap about aguero coming he dont fit in are system & i dont think he is good enough, 2 wide men, left back , big hard center half & a quick young forward maybe bojan even sturridge (i no we refused him in jan but we need cash then)kk said he was buying class & i believe he will , we will get player's in place then you will see the sale starting with up to 10 player's going sold/loaned then we will see a propo+er squad that is going to have a go at last, thought's eds thanks for posting {Ed001's Note - I think you need to watch these players play before suggesting they are average players. Wickham was the star for England U17s last season, had a better tournament than Coady and Wisdom who are top class youngsters.}

Hi Eds,
Just read there on SSN, the Johnny Heitinga is increasingly unhappy at Everton, think he's worth a shout, hard as nails , can play anywhere in back 4 , also in relation to my earlier post, what you make of Vladimir Weiss of Man City?

Rebel_Red {Ed001's Note - not good enough, he is just a shhhkicker, nice lad though and does have a sense of humour. I am not a fan of Weiss, not good enough for us in my opinion. Needs to learn when to release the ball and when to run with it.}

Seriously people stop slating these players, squad depth! Man city is a prime example, in my opinion... They sign all these players that are big names, all of which are well into careers and established, they get, if they are lucky 3 full seasons, the squad will never gel, because every week they line up differently, that on top of the massive language barrier , ridiculous wages and lack of playing time, no young talent would in their right mind want to sign for a club that wont make them a world class footballer, yes done will with the ££££ signs but look at the looney italian balotelli, would Liverpool want such a liability, I read Henderson saying something like 'anyone that thinks they've made it at 20 is wrong', that's the kind of attitude that wins titles, being the best on a personal level and for the team surely?
Kenny is the man, he's going to put us back into the top four within a season and it will only get better, I can't wait to see whiskey nose squirm!
Kenny is the king, if he says Henderson, Adam etc are the best they will be the best!

Does the lack of a real goalscoring striker concern anyone else here? Carroll is good for his all-round game, causing problems for defenders, Suarez is a priceless asset but not exactly a predatory striker and N'Gog's just a try-hard unfortunately. Kuyt is our only forward man who seems to get tap-ins. I'd love to see us sign a back-up striker who can just play that classic centre-forward role of feeding off scraps and finishing off moves

I've heard that Barcelona are considering including Jeffren in part of a deal for Sanchez. The only way he would be sold to us is if Udinese turn him down :(

09 Jun 2011 15:13:12
Expect Liverpool to be making most of their signings b4 the end of July. This is because the new financial fair play rule kicks in at the start of teams tax year. Most teams are 1st of June few are 1st July, for some reason tho Liverpool's tax year doesn't start until 1st of August. So any singings made b4 that date do not apply to this rule. Which is probablt why KK is pushing through the big transfers now. With this being the case I suspect that he will be holding back on selling until after 1st Aug so we are in the black from the off.

hi eds just wondering what formation you think we will play next year?if adam comes in then we must be playin with 3 in midfield and 2 wingers and then saurez upfront!what do you reckon ed? {Ed001's Note - I think we will play a fluid variant of 4-4-2, similar to the way Arsenal played with Parlour on the right and a proper winger on the left.}

Can anyone tell me why Henderson hasn't yet been a confimed signing by the club (On the website it is still saying "deal agreed") I know it is only a few formalities that need sorting out so it is more or less a done deal. Liverpool is buying Donni, Henderson, Adam, Enrique(if Barcelona doesn't get him first) Downing, N'Zogbia.
Next season LFC
GK Reina, Donni
RB Johnson, Flannagan
LB Enrique, Aurelio
CD Carra, Skrtel, Kelly, Agger, Kiryakos
CM Gerrard, Meireles, Adam, Henderson, Aquilani, Lucas, Spearing Shelvey
RM Kuyt, Maxi
LM Downing, N'Zogbia
ST Suarez, Caroll, Sturidge, Jovanovic
REMEMBER THIS

so Sturridge is gonna b 1 of our strikers yet wer not buyin him according to ur list of who lfc is buyin????????

09 Jun 2011 14:33:12
Several things:

As long as Ngog is going to Sunderland and we're getting Henderson, I don't give a rats arse if it's separate or inclusive, what difference does it make? He could be shipped to Sunderland via the Isle Of Wight in a cardboard box for all I care! We're getting a potentially world class player and getting rid of an absolute shambles of a striker! Smile FFS! :D

Secondly, who needs Phil Jones anyway? We've got Martin Kelly! More versatile and arguably better. Kelly was outstanding in a Liverpool side, Jones was outstanding in a BLACKBURN side. Wow, so would Djimi Traore. Kelly is a local lad, and scouse pride is an attribute of its own exclusive to scousers.

Thirdly, what is the likelihood of us signing Arda Turan? Love that player, known liverpool fan, ideal on the wing, young and quick, fantastic value for money! - ticks all boxes!

Fourthly, Spearing is NOT going to be sold and no more central midfielders will be signed. Next season we will have Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Spearing and Mereiles. Poulsen and Aquilani will be sold. Henderson is the successor of Gerrard and Dalglish is an adamant admirer of Spearing and a future asset to the club. Mereiles and Lucas will not be around forever. Perhaps next season he will be loaned out to a respectfully lower table for regular PL experience, who knows? Shelvey will also probably be loaned out.
Adam and McCarthy were alternatives to Henderson should Sunderland reject the bid, Jordan was always first choice.

Next season is going to be immense!

Pep Guardiola has issued a glowing review of the Liverpool youth system after holding an interview with Catalan Radio. The Barcelona coach has arguably the world's best academy at his disposal, with many regarding Arsenal's young guns as contenders.

However, Guardiola believes that it is Liverpool who have the only academy that can challenge his own a sentiment that he was keen to share during a recent interview:

"The academy of the Liverpool is the only one that can compare to La Masia of Barcelona FC." he said.

The double winning coach then went on to state: "If Liverpool can manage those lads in the academy, then maybe 20 star players can arrive from that academy".
Hope you dont mind me pasting this which I lifted from kopsource. I apologise in advance if someone has posted it already but I haven't had time to go through all of today's posts yet. (if this is old news Ed please feel free to not post)

Please post, I rarely get inside information but I did put up a post he gave me regarding left back targets, and although Enrique was pretty obvious anyway, the guy was still accurate because he also suggested Cissokho was a target and that has surfaced in the media today.

Anyway, I received another E-mail today regarding our Current situation.

We didn't bid for P.Jones. Whilst our bid was being prepared United stole in on the deal, However Jones did tour Melwood. He DID NOT fail his medical though. Twitter rumours... Spread like a forest fire...

We are Targeting Dann now instead, and although Jones was the preferred choice due to age Dann is seen as a more complete defender. Saw somebody on here recently suggest he was 6ft 5inchs. Well he's actually 6ft 2inchs, but don't let that put you off. His aerial ability is still sound.
Should our bid for Dann also be unsuccessful, the club will give up on the Homegrown plan for this certain position and turn their Attentions to Hummels of Borrussia Dortmund. He will be available for around £18m in contrast to Danns £10m price tag, however he is regarded as one of the best centre halves in the game at the moment and has a profilic goal scoring record of 10 in 68. Thats actually better than David N'Gogs goal scoring record!!!

Charlie Adam will be subject to a bid from Liverpool of around £10m although the exact fee hasn't been ironed out between Kenny, Comolli and FSG. Even after that Blackpool will have to see the offer as suitable so expect news soon but not within hours!

Downing remains a wing target although the two clubs involved have massively different Valuations. Liverpool see him as a £12m man whereas Villa are looking for almost £20m!
Mata may or may not sign although that could all change before July 1st. Jeffren has confessed he was interesting Liverpool and should a fee be agreed with Barcelona, the player won't hesitate to join our club.
N'Zogbia hasn't even been considered since January.

In regards to a back-up striker, I can offer little information although we are in the market for Connor Wickham and have enquired about Bojan. Both have stupid price tags of £10m and £18m respectively and at this moment in time I'd prefer Wickham, and Aguero and Falcao will not be considered. Falcao is far to similar to Carroll and would cost a similar fee. He will want first team football, as will Carroll. Aguero just won't fit into the pass and move style. He claimed just 1 assist last year. He is what kids nowadays would call a 'glory' but some of us slightly older folk would call a 'greedy c**t'.

Sorry for the length but I thought I'd pass on everything.
Things can change...

Ed, What do you think will be the future Liverpool team? If Kenny gets players like Sakho and Coutinho, it would give use a great future. I think the team will look something like this;
Reina
Flanno --- Kelly --- Sakho --- Robinson
Henderson --- Coady
Sterling --- Coutinho/Suso --- O'Hanlon
Morgan

What do you think? {Ed001's Note - Sterling is a left winger too mate, I very much doubt Coutinho will ever join and where is Wisdom?}

And Henderson, like Carroll, was signed for the future in mind. He doesn't necessarily go straight into the starting 11 every week. He's there to grow as a player and emerge into the finished article. Stop Making out he's not gonna fit in !

hey eds, please post,
i was just wondering, now that jones has gone which i for one am really disapointed about as i thought hed be a great foil for carra and then eventually wisdom/wilson etc, my question is who is now going to be the main traget for the other cb place? in my opinion i would like sakho but kk obv knows what hes doing because he isnt the king for nothing, in king kenny we trust

what do you think guys? {Ed001's Note - to be honest I am not sure, we had a few watched, Dann seems obvious.}

09 Jun 2011 14:02:43

Ed001's Note - Modric never shirks a tackle, have you actually watched any football? You can be cultured and quality without being a coward you know.}
-------
I've watched enough to know that not flying into 50/50 isn't a bad thing. When meireles pulled out of the 50/50 against utd gerrard went in for it, how did that work out? He got sent off. Flying into tackles results in one of two things usually: injury or a red card. Both of which are bad. If its to stop a goalscoring chance or sonething equally crucial I'm in total agreement. However you should pick and choose which 50/50 to go in for. Play with brains not balls.

09 Jun 2011 13:58:59
I'm pretty convinced, given the Henderson signing that we will be signing Mata now too. Would fit the team shape perfectly if you think of a 3 man midfield with Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson. Meireles would be in the mix too giving competition and would leave a spearhead (Carroll) and two wider players, Mata and Suarez to join in the attack, not as wingers but as attacking wide men. Kuyt can also play the same role, as can Maxi and Joe Cole. Would expect that if that's the formation, the fullbacks will be encouraged to get forward more as the midfield three will cover any holes. Would be a good fit for someone like Vargas then on the left.
Jeffren can play an attacking fullback role too so those rumours also make sense.
Can you see this as likely Eds as it seems a good set up to me.
Won't speculate on a backup striker as I think it will be done late on when the madness dies down. Priority will be left sided fullback and supporting left sided attacker.

09 Jun 2011 13:52:39
These are not rumours, this is the most likely scenario:
OUT: Jovanovic
Poulsen
Aquilani
Cole
Ngog
Agger
INS: Henderson
Mata
Jeffren
Dann
Enrique
Doni
Probably Charlie
NO Aguero, NO Bojan, NO Alonso, NO MESSI. Im tired of these science fiction stories.

Any musical wish?

A slightly modified version of a posting on a different site:

Apparently, Manchester City's Garry Cook and Manchester United's David Gill have joined forces to defend the city of Manchester after the extraordinary outburst by Carlos Tevez which defamed the city.

Mr Gill from Man Utd said "There are certainly more than two restaurants in Manchester, I think, and we have some really nice fish and chip shops too. We also hold regular boxing matches at the Manchester City training ground, plus we hold a biannual gurning contest that Carlos Tevez has won outright since his arrival in Manchester. These awards demonstrate that he owes the city a lot"

Mr Cook from Manchester City said "Manchester certainly isn't small and there are lots of things to do here at night. If you dont believe me then ask Ryan Giggs or Wayne Rooney. We also offer one of the leading hair transplant facilities in the north west and our football chaperrone services are second to none"

Many people around Manchester feel that Mr Tevez's tirade was grossly unfair, especially as he lives in an old barn in leafy Cheshire and only enters the city at night to train and play. A police spokesman has confirmed that Tevez is banned from entering manchester during the day as he was scaring too many people.

Mr Cook added "Manchester expects an apology from Mr Tevez. This city has been good to him and he has no right to tarnish it's good name. Come to think of it we also need an apology from Giggs, Rooney and old blue nose (for making Manchester look like fools in the Champions League final)"

Henderson transfer doesn't make sense to me unless we play 4-3-3. If we play 4-4-2 Gerrard and Lucas will be the automatic choices for CM. That means Kuyt would have to be dropped from RM for accommodate Henderson... I can't see how Kenny can drop Kuyt after the season he had.

However in a 4-3-3 Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson/Mereiles will play with Kuyt and Suarez wide and Carroll up front.

The signing of a LW will obviously give us a further indication. If a traditional LM is signed ie Downing I expect we will play 4-4-2, while if a LW is signed in the mould of a Mata type player then I beleive it will indicate 4-3-3. Flexibility is important however Daglish must have an ideal strategy in place...

Mourinho does rate Benzema actually. He wants him and Kaka to stay the only way benzema will leave is if a big money move comes in and I'm talking 25-30 million because like Barca Real don't have the money to by their targets. We can look at facts aguero wants madrid we know that but the fact is real madrid president said he won't sign aguero then tabloids say they do. Its very likely he will go to madrid but that is not fact as of yet.

DJ Campbell anyone?? Would cost 1-2m and a good back-up striker in case Suarez, Carroll or Kuyt are injured. I know he's nearly 30 but could be handy for a year or two.

What planet are you on? This is Liverpool football club you're talking about, not some championship team and the guy is 30 for Pete's sake. Come back Roy Hodgson, all is forgiven!!

Cant belive some so called fans or whoppers who support another or whatever the f*** sorry for language eds but i cant belive some of the negativity over Jordan Henderson, he is 1 of the best young British talents, or Liverpool under K.K and Comoli wouldn't have signed him end of.Whatever the price he didn't ask can i be sold for 16to20 mil or whatever the price turns out to be.He's got all the traits a young footballer should have ability wise and personality wise.He seems like a very humble young man who is already class, anyone that knows about football knows he can play.The guys got so talent in my opinion.When i've seen him he liket to pass and move, very good long passer.will start so score more but that will come with confidence and maturity and being around top echelon and world class players.Mark my words in 2 or 3years time, people will be saying to their mates, remember when we thought we over paid for Hendo ha ha.Glad we got him when we did now he'll be worth a lot more.He'll the next Stevey G to Martin Kelly being the next Carra.Lets get support him and the team weather its Marveax on a free, or Mata for 25 mil.If k.k has picked them to play who are we to argue.Good luck Jordan Henderson for what i'm sure will be an amazing Liverpool FC career.Rant over. johnny Boy6

Just a small point, Henderson's prefered position is on the right wing, but he can play anywhere across the midfield, so he fits the bill as a winger, and has the adaptability that KK likes. Also, if Bruce values Ngog at £7 million, is it worth asking them to give us a combined £20 million for Poulsen, Konchessky nad Jovanovic?

Ed001's Note - I would sell, he shirks tackles, there is no place for that in the EPL, not in central midfield where you need to win a battle before you can play football.}
-------------
totally agree there is no place for light individuals who shirk out of a challenge in centre of midfield, people like nasri, modric and meireles have no place in english football, give me kevin nolan over those wimps any day, who cares if they can pass and score goals. Also figured out our strategy is to buy all english players then our team is never fatigued after a national tournament.
Dr alban {Ed001's Note - Modric never shirks a tackle, have you actually watched any football? You can be cultured and quality without being a coward you know.}

Not a rumour, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the players we have been most strongly liked with, as a lot of people seem to ask about how they are rated.

Henderson- Seems a done deal. The lad is energetic, strong and skilful. Needs to find a bit more consistency but is young and has an awareness and technical ability that a lot of English midfielders (ie Cattermole) lack.

Adam- I admit that I'm still slightly on the fence about this one due to his at times underwhelming performances in the latter half of the season. I've tried to look at the positives and I think he'd be a decent signing. His range of passing and set piece ability offers up something a little different, something we don't have. Not the most athletic, but that's not his game. Intelligent player.

Mata- Fabulous footballer and the player I'd consider above all other wingers in that price bracket. He's not the biggest, but I believe his pace and technical ability more than make up for it. I suppose you could say that he's a more dynamic, assured version of David Silva. Not a bad crosser and decent dribbler too.

Gervinho- Whether he's a target or not, Gervinho is a good player, whether we need him or not is a different matter. He sort of plays the Suarez role, drifting inside from wide, taking on players. However, I'm uncionvinced. Ligue 1 isn't the hottest for good defenders and his conversion rate is poor. As likely to score a screamer as he is to hoof it into row f. We'll see.

Dann- A highly underrated defender. Birmingham wouldn't have been relegated without him, and if we are looking into statistics so much, this will surely show. It's disappointing to lose out on Jones but the fact that he chose Man Utd suggests he wouldn't have ever been committed. Dann shows maximum effort for all his teams, surely he'd raise his game for his boyhood club. I believe we could make him into an England international.

Downing- Another one who is slightly underwhelming. A good player with a proven record at Prem level, but I believe better wingers can be found abroad (Mata, Hazard, Ayew). He's a good player who'd provide a lot of crosses for Carroll, but I think he's a player at his peak who wouldn't improve particularly. He'd be for the here and now. Undecided.

Finally-- The LB slot. Names linked have been those such as Enrique, Izzaguirre and Cissokho. The most likely seems to be Enrique, who I think is solid but average. Our interest seems to have cooled. Izzaguirre would be a gamble but I like what I've seen, a solid tackler who can get forward. As extensively pointed out though, it's a big step up from the SPL to the Prem. Cissokho is undoubtedly the most talented of these three, offering a strong defensive presence along with pace and the ability to get forward. He'd be very expensive though (15m+) and he may not even be willing to move.

Thanks for putting up with the long post, congrats to those who read it all the way through. Good job eds, I'd like to hear anyone's opinions on my thoughts or any other Liverpool targets. Nice one.

Is anyone else baffled on why we are not trying to buy Nolan, The lad is Scouse, is a very good footy player, he's got passion for the game, can score goals and is a massive LFC fan so would give 110% every game. He would also be very cheap too! {Ed001's Note - not me, he is not good enough.}

09 Jun 2011 12:47:12
These are not rumours, this is the most likely scenario:
OUT: Jovanovic
Poulsen
Aquilani
Cole
Ngog
Agger
INS: Henderson
Mata
Jeffren
Dann
Enrique
Doni
Probably Charlie
NO Aguero, NO Bojan, NO Alonso, NO MESSI. Im tired of these science fiction stories.

09 Jun 2011 12:44:07
I think that we should be looking to bring in Forlan, I know he is an older player but he could link up well with Suarez and Carroll, we could play him for a few seasons then slowly nurture Morgan into the senior squad and save a bag full of money!

Dalglish will look to sign Adam and then sell Jay Spearing........

He's just signed a new contract.

Clubs often give players contracts before selling them, as it drives the sale price up, especially if they're not desperate to sell
I'd sell him no probs shelvey is far better than spearing he gives his all but hasn't much else to offer

What we need is one of our old players to get the job at Aston Villa, Lets say Robbie Fowler. Then all the dead wood and youth players that aren't quite upto the mark that we have we can loan to him, and because he used to play for us surely he will feel obliged to offer us very inflated transfer prices for players we couldn't give away in the freeads.

Well if it works for Old Whiskey Nose

I for one just hope that we get all our players in by the first week of july....its no coincidence that we had such a crap season last season due to 12 of our players being away at the world cup, coming back to pre-season at different times, and different levels of fitness. makes such a difference getting a good pre-season together and with all on-board, not joing in the last week an so on

09 Jun 2011 12:29:24
how likely is it for us to sign someone by the end of today other than henderson?

09 Jun 2011 12:26:22
Don't really see why people think we need to get rid of raul because we buying henderson and maybe adam, most top teams have quality in dept in there squads so don't see why we should'nt, with injuries and players getting suspended we could do with them all being there except aqua and poulson obv plus would help young players develop, I know we're not in europe but hopefully we will push hard for a few good Cup runs and back into the top four and keeping these players fresh will be good compitition for a starting berth

I heard from a reliable source that Aguero and Mata are done deals. They will join liverpool on the 1st July. Henderson is a good player, and will only get better because King Kenny will make him great. I predict Mighty liverpool finishing first or second.
No chance we lost out on jones and young and these to will be lost to Chelsea and man city

If Henderson has joined up with the u21 squad in Denmark, then when will he become our player?

09 Jun 2011 12:11:53
There are many reports that Mereiles may be leaving. Possibly to clubs in Spain or Russia. But Villareal seem to be in pole position with a £18m bid. He's a good player (although not the best) and that kind of money would be a good deal for Liverpool for a player nearing 30.

Not a chance. He's too important. Did you see how much we missed him against TH. He's just signed. Remember all those goals, incl. the important ones. We need to keep our best players, not sell them just coz someones waiving some cash in our face. We need to build the squad, not weaken it. Complete and utter rubbish IMO.

09 Jun 2011 12:06:41
With the signing of henderson and the apparent further signing of adam (or other midfielder) I just cannot see a place in the side for meireles... At times last season after Kenny came in he was dropped (rested) for spearing and lucas and now we have henderson and Gerrard coming back.... could we be seeing him leave if a half decent offer comes in? Perhaps the same could be said for maxi.. I dont think his late goal glut at the end of the season really suggests he has a long term place in the starting line up and his wages are far too high for a bit part player... I say sell him and meireles and bring in another couple of young hungry squad players.

BREAKING NEWS!!! Regarding Mata transfer at 12noon according to Dunc Koptalk!
Ed this guy Dunc seems to get a lot of things right.. What do you recken? {Ed001's Note - what things has he got right? You mean like the sheikh that was buying the club that turned out to be Americans?}

Reina

Henderson Gerrard Lucas LM
Suarez Carroll

I'll take that - Not gonna speculate on other signings cause as the Henderson deal - no-body knows and it's hard to get some good info!!

Agree Ed?

FSG are great revenue and pr generators not only have they got NFLs hottest property Simon Lebon tied in with us, I can now reveal they have also financed a major hollywood movie centred on the club "WILL". This is a massive marketing stunt aimed and bolstering brand awarness globally. The movie centres on a young fan{very loosely based on Jay Spearings childhood growing up in the city} and will prove a great feelgood movie like Slumdog Millionaire or Children of Men.

These Americans are clearly exploring every revenue avenue avialable.

Good times ahead

to the ones on here saying spearing is going to be sold. it just is not going to happen. you need to think about what your saying. you must not have a clue about bulding a squad. the reason king kenny is buying the likes of adams and henderson is they can come on and change games and get goals and give kk more choices in games and on top of that it will make squad stronger. witch is what we need. what you need to look at is they have proved they can cut it in the prem. not every player we are going to buy is going to be world class but good squad players and make us alot stronger. witch is something we have not had for along time.

09 Jun 2011 11:28:37
hi eds please post, got to admit i am very very disapointed that we missed out in jones as he looks a quality young defender but u cant win them all, but i honestly beleive that if we get one or two of either sakho, papodopulous, dann, shawcross we will have bought just as much talent as jones (if not more) do you know of any contact/interest in any of these players? and i really believe that in recent years we have lacked real strength and dominance and pace in our back four so sakho and a big strong and quick left back i.e cissoko would be a real clever buy

wats your opinion fellow reds fans and eds? {Ed001's Note - I would like Dann, certainly not Shawcross, he is not good enough.}

09 Jun 2011 11:17:31
I appreciate that a deal can be concluded via fax and email, but with Henderson now being with the u-21's surely thedeal won't be completes till he gets back.

We won't announce the deal without presenting to the media surely? Or would KK fly out there to do an in promptu press conference with him.

As for the rest would like to see Dann come in. Local lad who loves the club. Would love Mata and Aguero but doubt the latter will happen. Think we need a LB RW and backup/3rd ST on top of those mentioned. Turan Cissoko (sp?) and Bojan maybe.

Any thoughts on Henderson and the above mentioned plates Ed?

Great Site by the way. Keeps me entertained during those boring work hours

CJC {Ed001's Note - these days press conferences are not held any more by most clubs, no reason not to sign him and just present him when he gets back.}

Just a few words in defence of Meireles. I accept the criticism ofhim that's been raised on here, but surely not every player has to be a snarling tiger. We've had very good midfielders in the past - Terry Mac, Digger etc - who, while they weren't s***houses, were not renowned for their tackling.
Surely there's a place for a more cultured midfielder.
What do u reckon ?
KB

No one is doubting the fella is a cultured player. But question arises where will he be most effective when u play Gerrard . Indications are kk is gonna play with more width next season and Mireles isn't his most effective in a wide role. Lucas appears to be first choice as CDM and Jay Spearing as Lucas back up. Also with the signing of Henderson, possible signing of Charlie Adam and don't forget Aqualani could possibly return, u got to wonder where he will fit. Also the point I made yesterday, by keeping Aqualani and selling Mireles, u avoid taking a 10 million hit and make a 3/4 million profit.

I do like Mireles, but if u factor in all the possible scenarios , it doesnt bode well for him .

Your thoughts Ed?

Rebel_Red {Ed001's Note - I would sell, he shirks tackles, there is no place for that in the EPL, not in central midfield where you need to win a battle before you can play football.}

I gotta get a life!! {Ed001's Note - sorry mate we are working on some changes and it is holding us up a bit. I just wonder what you will be like when we move it onto the new server, it could be down for up to 24 hours then!!}

09 Jun 2011 10:56:54
It's a shame we haven't got Jones but we must move onto another target, which happens a lot in the transfer market. I imagine once N'gog moves to Sunderland for around 6 mil, we'll be buying Wickham for around 10 mil, which for me makes him worth the risk.

Adam still looks likely to sign, which I find strange but I'm sure he'll get games. That to me implies that we'll rotate more and Henderson or even Gerrard will play on the right more often than you might expect in a 4-4-2. We also may see 4-3-3 at times with Suarez, Carroll and Kuyt up top. Lucas/Spearing anchoring, with Adam/Meireles and Gerrard/Henderson ahead. It's a squad game and that's what we've been lacking in recent seasons.

If we can add a quality centre half adding to Carra, Skrtel and Agger plus Kelly if required then we've got suitable options. Johnson is a versatile player now adept at both full back positions and Kelly is prone to injury so he'll get plenty of games. Aurelio will stay as a squad player a quality left back will sign.

We then move onto wingers, Downing seems the most likely but I know we all want the more glamorous Mata, which could happen as I doubt Barca or Madrid will sign him and he doesn't seem to be a City mercenary type player. Marveux is likely to come as back up to whichever left winger signs and Maxi will provide back up to Kuyt/Henderson or Gerrard on the right.

If we sign

1) Doni
2) Henderson
3) Marveux
4) Centre half
5) Left back
6) Adam
7) Winger, Mata or Downing

Then it'll be a good summer for me.

there are an increasing amount of aguero rumours again, and today is the date that his dad said they would come to a conclusion about who he would join....

09 Jun 2011 10:44:29
All the talk on the London centric press and media(Sky Sports, Daily Mial etc) is that Henderson is going to replace Gerrard in the next couple of years. But i reckon gerrard has 3 good years left as a player at Liverpool and I would say by then Connor Coady and Suso will have be been unleashed on an unsuspecting numpty audience!

09 Jun 2011 10:30:15
this is thetudz speaking aint it funny now that kk is in charge and has started to lay the blueprint of the future of lfc by getting the best of young british talent available like he did in the mid 80s old wiskey nose fergie is doing the same i see that he knows kk is his arch nemesis on he will do everything to upstage him by doing this it goes to show that his previous foriegn signings just didnt work out and now he follows kk who knows how it should be done

09 Jun 2011 10:26:56
Whilst this is all good fun, the truth of the matter is that we do not have a clue who KK will sign as he keeps his cards close to his chest (as it should be). I read this site most days as I am keen to see who we sign, but lets face it, it is just for entertainment value. Our first signing of the summer is Jordan Henderson, and I had seen absolutely no mention of him here until the story had broken in the media.

09 Jun 2011 10:24:42
Not a rumour I know but could anyone tell me why we don't appear to be going for Turan. He seems to tick every box and would love to play for us. Now I know he is not English but he has got to be a better bet than Downing at probably only a few million more. Please enlighten me!

Dalglish will look to sign Adam and then sell Jay Spearing........

He's just signed a new contract.

Maybe so but his value and reputation had increased massivly in the las 4 weeks of the season, if he hadnt had that run in the team im sure he would of been one of the players moving on anyway, by signing a new contract his value has risen.

09 Jun 2011 10:14:16
On the 25th of May, Kun Aguero's father was quoted saying; ""There are several clubs interested in Sergio... In ten or fifteen days we hope you have a solution". I'm not saying we are one of these said clubs, but by my maths, today is 15 days later, so we shall see just what happens...

he also said "Ken howeverwill be able to make the train (and bus) to liverpool, the choice of either a six pack of any beer he choose two packs of crisps(any flavour) and a opack of dry roast was just too much for him to turn down."
at least the summer won't be a complete washout with the rubbish signings we already have(suarez anybody).

09 Jun 2011 10:12:27
Realisticly Liverpool have to go 4-5-1. If you look back on the season most of our goals if not all came from the wings or hitting a second ball from a rushing centre mid. We need good passers and fast runners. our usual long ball strategy is going to be helped by Carroll's height and he is great at holding the ball too. Realisticly we will be looking at something like this:

GK
RB CB CB LB
CM CM
AMR AMC AML
FW
it will give ball winning defence support and passing in the middle. Speed and crosses on the wings with the side backs over lapping naturally. And Carroll up front holding the ball as the options come around him. Adam and Meireles will be CM Stevie G AMC with Kuyt on the right and Suarez on the left. Obviously our transfers will alter the lineup but with the targets we are after i cant picture them lining up any other way, but I'm open to debate

09 Jun 2011 10:05:56
Hey ed,
Surely the arrival of Henderson will rule out the need to buy Adam? I think that the 8mil being quoted for Adam would be better spent on a left back or winger. We're already well stocked in the centre of midfield and are crying out for width. I was thinking of angel for left back and jovetic or perroti on the wings. Any thoughts ed?
Thanks, Matlock. {Ed001's Note - except Adam is a central midfielder, Henderson can play wide as well, how do you know Kenny doesn't see him as playing out wide with Adam central?}

09 Jun 2011 10:05:47
Why oh why would Aguero choose us? He is a great player and has a whole host of clubs to choose from, most offering Champions League. Perhaps in 2-3 years we would be able to attract such a player, but at the moment we are going through a re-building process, improving the squad etc.

Aguero could walk into most sides. He won't move.

Sorry lads.

By the way, great job Eds. Thanks.

HENDERSON'S TRUE FEE!

Liverpool have paid £11m + Eggnog who was valued at £5m total package cost for HENDERSON £16m and not the £20m as reported.(KENNY IS NOBODYS FOOL)

We paid 16 million cash for Henderson and we are cashing in on Ngog. DC reckons he can get 6 million for him. making perfect financial sense in regards to net spend/profit

09 Jun 2011 09:24:53
I hear meireles is going to be leaving us in the summer for Villarreal - strong rumour plus with the signings of henderson and possibly adam it would make sense that liverpool are losing meireles - i cant see both charlie adam and henderson agreeing to sit on the bench all season and meireles is going to be the one to go! around the fee of 12 - 15 mill

Why would Miereles leave. Have you not heard of small thing called 'squad'. He's only just joined us for christ sake.

As someone already stated, the Aguero rumours were an old re-post from Richard_Buxton twitter page. I think it was to underline how easy it is to spread a rumour with no substance and send people chasing around on forums until late in the night. Seems to have worked eh? The internet is a very successful tool for flushing out gullible saps with too much time on their hands.

Jones signs for United...i can certainly remember that a couple of days back when Henderson's deal was being finalised the eds said they knew of no interest in Jones from united so what exactly happened in the next 48 hours or so {Ed001's Note - they moved for him that is what happened. Spurs had shown no interest until they found out he was up for grabs either.}

Sorry to post about Jeffren Saurez again but he has said he would be flattered by interest from lfc. Imagine KK forming another SAS partnership with Carroll as well it could be awesome. Defenders would be legless. Especially after JS made ghost hunters of Man City.....go for him!

On the subject of aguero: what else can be said now. We might aswell leave this rumour now since everything has been said. Also just because he enjoyed watching liverpool at some point doesn't mean he is a fan. How many players have said they were fans of the club? Lots, I don't even believe it when an english player says that anymore.

Also I'm pretty sure that we will play either 433 or 451 next season as these formations are more conductive to pass and move football. Playing with wingers give width but also makes you more direct as you primarily push the ball down the channels and then into the box from the side. 433 is the formation used by most advocates of a passing game including barca, milan, ajax, munich. Etc
I'm confident this will be formation so don't be surprised if we sign 2 strikers/wing forwards

Re. The post on our frontline being Kuyt-Carroll-Suarez in a 4-3-3. I'd be happy with that. But whether played as that or with Kuyt + Suarez dropping deeper to make it 4-5-1, you need three central mids on the pitch. And if you need 3 on the pitch, you'd want 3 backups at least, hence our current appetite for CMs (as well as wingers).

09 Jun 2011 07:42:40
Re. Meireles leaving.

What is the rationale for these rumours? Is he supposed to be unhappy? Can't settle? Given that he's been the first central midfielder to prove that we can perform well regularly without Stevie G since Alonso (note his reduced appearances at the end of the season when we lost our last two games), it seems surprising that we would let him go so readily and for the relatively small fee that's been suggested.

Also the Benitez 'no to Villa' story is all over the freesheets this morning but no reason given.

09 Jun 2011 07:37:31
If there's any truth in the Alonso rumours( and its Alonso who has started this by the way) then we would have to sell Merelies...I like the lad but he pulls out of too many challanges for my liking so if a big bid came in from Spain would we cash in? I know FSG said that there was no budget to Kenny could spend but they also stated that they would target players under 27/28 who had a sell on value..BUT they also said they would consider buying players for big money over 27/28 if they were an exceptional talent and would have a big impact on the team...Xabi Alonso fits this catergory...now i know you'll get people having a go at me but I'm not saying was we are going to get him but look at the facts...Alonso wants to come, Reina very happy again, Rafa gone and Real constantley changing managers....Over to you Mr HENRY...

09 Jun 2011 07:36:05
According to Sky Sports news last night we never even made a bid for Jones!
Man Utd and Arsenal both met the asking price and he was shown around both grounds before having at least one medical.
Apparently we enquired about him but would not meet the asking price.
So all the papers today saying Man Utd have stolen him from under our noses is rubbish! {Ed001's Note - SSN know nothing about what's going on at Liverpool, they are reliant on waiting until the club confirms things. Look how far behind they were on Henderson joining! They never even knew Spurs had bid for Jones until 'Arry told them live on TV.}

people are sometimes stupid.... does the word depth mean anything.... hello!!! once we got henderson some people are saying a CM or CAM in our team will leave. come on guys for crying out loud lfc will not sell to the better players in the team just for the sake of another player joining in. to challenge for titles liverpool fc need to compete for there position....
last season liverpool looked so shallow in the midfield area especially!! liverpool will need depth in order to challenge,
we need 2 wingers, a striker, maybe 1 or 2 Centre back depending on the situation (future of kryaikos, agger, carragher is not getting younger and the loanees).

I hear meireles is going to be leaving us in the summer for Villarreal - strong rumour plus with the signings of henderson and possibly adam it would make sense that liverpool are losing meireles - i cant see both charlie adam and henderson agreeing to sit on the bench all season and meireles is going to be the one to go! around the fee of 12 - 15 mill

surely this is nonsense, mereiles is a class act and is only going to improve, hel play a big ass role in challenging for the title this season, unless hes "goin villareal"

Ed, any word? {Ed001's Note - we are building a squad, I hope he stays and toughens up, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he left though.}

Just a quick and i think realistic list of players who'll sign for us.Vargas, Dann but rather Sahko, no slight on Dann but chalk and cheese in terms of ability.Downing, much rather have him then Inzogbia, 7 goals from open play and 7 assists, compared to Young who scored 7 and 7 assists but 4 pens and he played further forward , Adam, another centre mid but can play on left and plenty of players dont need pace to get wicked crosses in, in fact i'd go to say players can be to quick for there own good at times to get quality crosses in, ala Lennon and Walcot who very rarely get there heads up when crossing there running so fast and have eyes for the ball only.Jeffren, think he could make a massive impact like his namesake.Pure class this kid, pacey but with an end product, watch the under 21 tourney and see.Can play in a 433 or wide in a 442 in my opinion.Juan Mata, be brought in as a wide man but can play in numerous attacking positions we all know his quality .And last but not least Wickham, a monster of a fella for one so young who's an aerial threat, a lot more pacey then i thought when i saw him play live.And if Carroll is gonna be used in the right way tactically, ideal replacement for injury or suspension, like for like if you like.Dead wood out we all know who 80% prob of who that is but the other 20% could be a suprise.There's nothing like having competition for places if a team wants to be succeseful imo.Any comments if printed would be appreciated. This Phil Jones thing is strange - he apparently fails a medical but then flies off to play for his country. Neither Mancs or Rovers have anything on their websites - all I could find was under Manc's "gossip" area, they requote Redknap's (can't stand that arrogant twit) quote in the papers about missing out on him to United. Very strange to me.

I don't usually like to post betting odds, but sometimes (with transfer betting speculation) there simply isn't smoke without fire. Anyway, I'm just putting up the latest odds as I took them from SkyBet at 6:16 pm PST.

Also saw this on SS Transfer Centre. Just out of interest.

Liverpool's transfer dealings will be concluded with the signing of Charlie A**m and Scott Dann in the next few weeks.

----/////----------------------------------

Yeah you're probably right, I mean kk and comolli probably watched all of last season and thought if we just need to buy two more centre mids. Dream on mate lfc are clearly after wingers and a left back at the very least. So I'd expect a couple more transfers in and out of the club

Team will play in a free-flowing 4-1-3-2 next season:

Bench: Doni, Dann, Flanagan, Downing, A**m, Kuyt, Wickham

okay with all the talk about aguero and bojan and whichever other striker is "deffo 100% done" let us just look at who liverpool currently have playing upfront

1st of all there is luis suarez- nobody can doubt this lads talent i watched him playing today against the netherlands and hes just a scary man to mark, he plays both wings at the same time and still manages to get back and hold the ball up for more advanced forwards- he is the rarest of all things a world class forward who plays for the team and absolutely loves doing so

Andy carroll- in a 4-3-3 formation he is the spear-tip, the target man, the goal scorer. Tall, powerful, has the best left foot in the league, doesn't mind coming back to collect the ball but best of all? at 22 he is still not at his best and playing alongside steven gerrard, suarez and pepe reina whilst being guided by the king if he manages to stay out of trouble off the pitch who would bet against him becoming one of the greatest players in the world?

dirk kuyt- okay now dirk kuyt has the first touch of a rapist- he isn't the sort of player who beats 4 players before lobbing the keeper either BUT he gives 110%, can pass the ball, works hard, fights for headers, tries hard, is a clinical finisher and did i mention that his work rate is excellent? jan molby recently claimed that dirk would make barcas first team and although controversial i agree.

so all in all i believe that the best forward 3 in the world would be 'hands down' 'deffo' '100% done deal'

Suarez-Carroll-Kuyt

any opinions?

Guys, Sergio Aguero will NOT be signing for us! I hear from a number of friends in Spain that Aguero is far more likely to join Man City, as a replacement for Tevez who has stated he will never return to Manchester. Sorry to burst this bubble but I think everyone was getting a little carried away, we have Suarez who imo is better anyway.

i dont see him going to man city, i think liverpool will get him, he an lfc fan he always said if he was to leave atletico madrid it would be to liverpool no one else

News from a friend of mine who knows Dalglish:

Dalglish will look to sign A**m and then sell Jay Spearing to one of the promoted clubs for a fee in the region of 7 million. Spearing impressed a lot of Championship clubs on loan at Leicester last season and when Dalglish joined he talked about United making money by giving youngsters a run of games in the first team then selling them on, eg/ Frazier Campbell, Kieran Richardson etc. The money generated from the Spearing and Aquilani sales (about 17 million) will just about cover the outlay on Henderson and A**m, and much more importantly Henderson and A**m signings will lower the wage bill

You heard it here first!

---------------------------------------

Spearings just signed a new contract he aint going nowhere chief. Why do we need to cover the cost of Henderson and A**m as well. The owners have made it quite clear they are happy to spend on youth and/or quality. Your comments make no sense I'm afraid

with all this talk about transfers and big money signings, is there any news of any Asian or American players being looked at, as FSG were looking to promote the Liverpool Brand accross the USA and also accros Asia as we have a large fan base there?

This would be a goos move as mechandising would bring in vast amounts of revenue helping to balance the books big time.

Isn't football already too much about economics, i know clubs need money and they are businesses, and as businesses, raising revenue is always a very high priority. But surely we can draw the line somewhere to stop clubs completely selling out their values, i mean signing a player from a certain region for economic gain, not necessarily to better the team is just not in the spirit of the game, let alone LFC.

i have seen aqualani linked with udinese, and we are still in the market for a central defender, i remember Zapata being highly rated, a deal involving the 2 players would seem a good idea, but it doesnt seem likely at all, i think we will see 5-7 signings more (as well as henderson and doni), 1 of which will be young and be around the squad, not a week in week out player, this will be wickham from ipswich. dann looks likely now jones has signed for scum. The rest will probably come from the continent, my hoping of the players we have been linked with are for cissokho, mata/turan, benega/ martinez and i hope the rumours of the 30m + signing from spain is accurate.
without the big 30m+ signing i hope we line up like this next season in a 4-3-3
gk: riena
def: johnson, agger, carragher/skrtel ( carra will play less due to age), cissokho
mid: gerrard and 2 from - lucas, henderson, merieless, benega/martinez
fwd: mata/turan carrol, suarez

rest of squad not including the youths (sterling, suso etc...): doni, kelly, flannagan, kuyt, dann, wickham, pacheco, ayala

i am not in the know, this is just judging from rumours i have seen or heard, i would be very happy with this squad

I have just read on some of the posts that Phil Jones may/may not have failed a medical at the scum from a Lancashire Radio.

It was reported on Five Live yesterday that Phil Jones had a bad injury involving a torn cartilage, which kept him out of Blackburn Rovers team for a quite a while, as they were comparing the amount of games Jorge Henderson had played for Sunderland (which was nearly all - if not all) vs Phil Jones number of games for Blackburn Rovers(which was rather less). Gabriel Marcotti was on the Five Live programme yesterday evening and they were talking about the overflated price of English players (and the home grown/UEFA ruling coming into play/being monitored from this summer) to that of overseas players in relationship to the U21's Championship due to start soon.

They also mentioned that they expected prices of footballers like Mata, Martinez and some other Spanish players that I cannot remember the name of to rocket up if they have a good U21 Championship. Which maybe the reason why Valencia are holding out for a better price for the likes of Mata - (if this is true), and if nothing has been agreed with any football team.

So if Phil Jones has failed a medical (if reports are true), the above reason may be one of the factors. I do not have any inside information, only the above that was reported on radio.

Any Ed's keep up the good work!

P.S. I will believe any Aguero rumours if and when it is official announced by LFC. Although I have had the privilege of watching him on two occasions in the Kop as part of the Torres deal to LFC (friendly match vs Athletico and in the Europa League Semi-Final).

Lucas, Maxi and Mireles who are going to slip further and further down the pecking order, in truth, they weren't quite premiership winning material. Good to have strong subs though.

Man United won the league with a midfield of Carrick, Giggs, and Anderson. Meireles and Lucas would walk into that midfield.

hi ed, there is alot of talk about wickham, personally i know he is talented but what i have also noticed is a very lazy attitude. so on this he wouldnt be my choice, your thoughts ed. thanks shane {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen that lazy side to his game, but I have only ever seen him play matches that I know Liverpool scouts were at. It is perfectly reasonable to assume he would know they were there and was upping his game to impress them. I remember there was a lower league manager who would regularly tell his lazier players that scouts were coming to watch them just to get them to try harder!}

In the footballing world, every team faces the need to loosen its purse strings every now and then to dip into the transfer market to get the players that the team deems necessary for improving its fortunes on and off the field.

However, over the past couple of seasons, one has seen a number of clubs ready to pay a lot more than what most people would feel is appropriate for the player.

One understands when it happens for top players in the world like Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso or Carlos Tevez.

However, the recent trend seems to suggest that British players, nowhere near the class of the players mentioned above, are commanding similar transfer fees.

The most shining examples of the above seem to be the recent transfers of Darren Bent and Andy Carroll worth £24 million and £35 million respectively.

One is a 27-year-old striker who is far from being the best striker in England, let alone amongst the best in the world, and another is a youngster who just has half a season worth of credentials in the Premier League.

Liverpool FC seem to be at the forefront of that queue with reported interest in players such as Ashley Young, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing with transfer fees of over £15 million being quoted for each one of them.

So, why are teams bending over to get unproven British players when they can get better and proven players for the same amount?

One can only think of two possible reasons.

One, to get the English flavor back into the top teams in England, which for some reason was starting to wane over the past decade.

However, the second and more important reason seems to be the gathering pace of the movement to get more and more British players playing in the Premier League.

One does not need to a footballing genius to see that major teams in the League had started to get a foreign flavor to them. Liverpool started looking like a Spanish team, Arsenal like a French one and Manchester City like a World XI.

Hence, there is a growing feeling among people that due to the large number of foreign players playing in the Premier League, the development of British players is being hampered.

That was one of the primary reasons for the eight homegrown players rule that came into effect in the 2010-11 season.

Until people see a rise in the fortunes of the English national team in prestigious competitions like the Euro and the World Cup, that momentum is expected to continue.

Since the number of quality British players is limited, it might be wise to get British talent before the transfer fees are inflated beyond one's reach.

Another minor advantage of pursuing this strategy is that the team would be able to recruit players who have Premier League experience. There have been many great footballers who have found the going tough in the Premier League like Shevchenko and Forlan.

Along with targeting players for the first team, Liverpool also seem to be ready to splash the cash to get promising youngsters on their books.

Raheem Sterling, signed from QPR last year, is already one of the most exciting 16-year-olds in the country. Connor Wickham, another promising youngster from Ipswich, seems to be on Liverpool's radar as well.

Liverpool are also investing heavily in their youth setup with a very visible strengthening of the youth program over the last five years with the arrival of Rodolfo Borrell and Jose Segura into the youth setup at Liverpool.

A big contributor to this strategy of going after British talent seems to be the new ownership, which wants to rebuild the club on the lines of the Liverpool of old, when local talent was the backbone of the team.

Hence, by adopting this strategy, Liverpool could again lay claim to being "The British Club" with the added advantage of being safe against any future ruling with regard to the number of British players required in a squad.

So, considering all the facts, even overpaying for British players now, along with the ever-improving youth setup at Liverpool, might just turn out to be a very wise strategy in the long run.

Copied from a site today thought it was a good read and maybe a insit into liverpools approach, a was a bit worried but a think a can see the direction KK is heading with this team and I;m getting excited. YNWA

AGUERO. CARROL. SUAREZ

now that's going to be some team what do you think ed {Ed001's Note - from what I have seen of Aguero I am not convinced that role would suit him.}

09 Jun 2011 00:31:20
In relation to Aguero. In my opinion I can't see him moving to Liverpool. I would have a sneaky suspicion that he may be Chelsea bound. Again my opinion I think that the reason Torres moved on may have been the fact that Chelsea sounded out Aguero sometime ago. It's an opinion. Where would he fit in? Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt and Aguero as forwards. Would be nice but I think unrealistic.

for me Bojan

09 Jun 2011 00:12:27
Ed, why do we need winger? My point being, look at Barca, they dont have wingers, just full backs who get forward. We have them too in Johnson and possibly enrique. Whats wrong with a 4 -4 -3, hense the signing of henderson?

If aguero was to come then him and suarez could play either side of carroll?? {Ed001's Note - a 4-4-3 would be great, but I doubt we would be allowed to play it. I understand what you are saying, but I don't see how that would work with Carroll? What he needs is wingers dragging defenders out the middle and giving him more chance to get on the end of crosses.}

09 Jun 2011 00:11:15
Wingers we will be signing Downing, Mata, Perotti and Dzsudzsak. Would like Turan as an LFC fan but I am sure he is going to Spain, unless LFC show serious interest. Dann, Kjaer both CB's and LFC fans would immediatly improve our defence and would be a good partnership forn the future. I believe Baines should be our LB target in failing that Cissokho. The striker we are looking to bring in is Jeffren Suarez.

hey eds,

I was initially going to post about turan coming to us so ill start with this ha! Really think it has to be iminent, we alllll know he loves the club and we allll know kenny loves him, surely he would want to be part of the rebuilding process and be a vital part of the team that brings home number 19. I just think it only has to be a matter of time, hes the perfect age and it has to happen.

Secondly i have faith in the board but whats all this about aguaro, seriously, even though i was shocked when we got suarez, i think we got him under the radar, as for aguaro, everybody is after him, surely we cant get him eds? Im happy with our other targets if we get aguaro ill possibly explode! Any thoughts?

Jonnylfc {Ed001's Note - the sole problem with Aguero is his wages, if he will agree to take a pay cut, a massive pay cut, to join us, then it is a simple deal. Atletico have accepted at least one bid already, from Chelsea, who baulked at Aguero's wage demands. I just don't see a reason to buy Aguero, I don't see how he is any improvement on Suarez and he doesn't offer anything Suarez doesn't.}

08 Jun 2011 23:56:26
the only clubs interested in aguero are Liverpool Chelsea and real Madrid he won't go to Chelsea because they are going to get neymar he won't go to Madrid because he still loves athletic Madrid and they won't sell him to Madrid so that means he will be coming to liverpool

Florent Malouda (does not cut nesv policy)
Eden Hazard (CL football)
James Milner (price tag + over-rated)
Ashley Young (United bound)
Jesus Navas (no intention of leaving Sevilla)
Alexis Sanchez (wages and price tag too high, plus no interest in us)
Scott Sinclair (wants regular PL football at Swansea)
Adel Taarabt (same reason as Sinclair)

wingers who might leave:
Cole - probable
Maxi - possible

malouda i wouldnt dismiss, he is good player u know jus cos where going mostly for young players that dont rule out older players, as older players have the experience and kenny knows better than most that u cant have a full team of youngsters u need balance

Is it just me or is anyone else underwhelmed with the players currently linked with LFC. Henderson, Adam, Downing, Dann, Wickham. Now I don't expect Aguero type signings (as we don't have CL) but if these are the type of players we are targeting, We don't seem to have much ambition. I'm really starting to worry about this "buy english" transfer strategy. For the most part they aren't good enough & way over priced. Also, I'm afraid that the Academy will be hurt as well, because there is clearly favoritism towards the english youngsters. What is the incentive for top foreign prospects to come to our academy. They won't get a chance to play. I hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see us challenging for trophies with these type of players.

ed, ssn are saying jeffren is playing at the u21 championships when he is 23 how is this possible? good potential signing if we can get him {Ed001's Note - this is the ruling on ages: Players are eligible to play in the 2009-11 UEFA European Under-21 Championship if they were born on or after 1 January 1988. Players who are eligible to take part at the start of the competition will be eligible until the end of the competition. The national associations are responsible for the strict observation of this provision.
So any player that was under 21 at the start of qualifying still qualifies now.}

After securing henderson, and still in the run in for adam, central mid might get a bit crowded next year at anfield, has KK got something else in mind, or who does he intend to play?

hi ed, was just wondering so thought i might inquire, do you think gerrard/henderson will be set out wide but not actually play like that, a bit like maxi is now, starting out wide on the team sheet but really just playing the pass and move game?, a bit like barca where our midfield operate centrally but width is covered by full backs, or do you we will a few out and out wingers and play that route? cheers mate much appreciated {Ed001's Note - yes that is exactly what I think will happen. It was a very fluid formation that Kenny liked to play in the past, I can't see any reason to change that as it works.}

Ed 001 it sounds like you think Bojan and Wickham are the most likely strikers to join but is it just me or would you not be very underwhelmed if either of these became our 4th striker? Also, they're both over-priced in my opinion!

Cheers in advance ed,
Red Pedro. {Ed001's Note - I would be happy enough with either of those, they offer something different from the strikers we already have. The price might not be what I would want to pay, but I would rather pay the money for the right players.}
