I have it on logicality De Jong won't sign in Jan nor Adam Johnson or any other name mentioned on this site - that is until Macca comes out of hibernation and spills the beans 36 hrs before official announcements are made. Expect only 2 players to sign both suprises and both top quality. Untill then bore the Eds with your dream teams and "ITK" statements so they can copy and paste the bits of limited snippites of real (allbeit probably dated) info they get passed on. Oh well at leats we have somewhere to slag each other off after a win or release our anger at how sh1t the team / KK is performing after a draw. Roll on January... 4/6 on Villa becoming the new Augero/Silva/Mata!

'Only' 2 top quality signings? What a disappointment.
Thanks for the heads up (based on logicality) but you've ruined my New Year, already.

Now we are fighting amongst ourselves, and moaning about people moaning? Everyone has his/her opinions, some go further than others (my opinion). May I suggest that we give all moaning a rest, and get back to supporting our team/management/owners, through thick and thin.

We had a few negative results lately, but we are unbeaten in 8-9 games and only 4 points of 4th. This is an international break, that i'm happy has come around. Hopefully the boys come back unscathed and ready for the game at the bridge. We all know some players are low on confidence, but us slagging them off everytime we get a negative result, will hinder the players, not help them. A win at the bridge could just be what the doctor ordered. We should back our players, through good times and bad times, this is one of those bad times. They are really short on confidence, and I for one feel it's because of us so called 'best fans on the planet, and stick by our players no mattter what'. How can we call ourselves this, when everytime after a negative or sometimes positive result, we still ridicule our players?

William 'Bill' Shankly

"The word 'fantastic' has been used many times, so I would have to invent another word to fully describe the Anfield spectators. It is more than fanaticism, it's a religion. To the many thousands who come here to worship, Anfield isn't a football ground, i's a sort of shrine. These people are not simply fans, they're more like members of one extended family."

What would you think Bill would say, if he read posts on this site and other sites?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

That anfield has am atmosphere like a graveyard!!

When we are playing 'lesser' teams at the momment mate, I fear you speak the truth.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

He would say whoes responsible for this mess and fire them.

I started going to anfield the year bill got the managers job and he was fantastic , he even made us think we would beat the fab ajax team at home after getting 5 past us away , in bills day he didnt have to deal with the fans seeing all of the other teams on tv and the lfc fans knowing just how good every other top team really is and the lfc players in his day did play for the shirt.
fans react to how the players have a go on the pitch and the current team have some players who do not appear to care.
managers , players come and go but fans stay for life.
we are entitled to have opinions and we all know that our home tactics are what is letting us down points wise and this also shows in the crowds reaction.
win lose or draw poor tactics or not i'll always be there, with hope in my heart.

ed could you just tell us who you have been told we may be going for by credible rumours please {Ed002's Note - WE have made it clear on a number of occasions what we expect to happen in January. WE are also some way off teh transfer window. But don't expect spending like the summer.}

09 Nov 2011 23:12:07
There is a rumour that Gerrard has actually broken his ankle. I honestly don't know how credible this. Ed could this actually be a possibility, time frames and whatever do you think? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

Well, I can't see why they would keep it secret?

Think the original poster just came to that conclusion himself... He's back after the internationals

Wow, man. Hope, Shelvey can keep on doing that. An asset in the making. Missing Gerrard, hope, he'd be back soon.

I remember going to Anfield to watch the - Liverpool V Bristol City cup defeat ... Souness's last game in charge (he resigned the following day .

At the final whistle with the score LFC 0 : 1 BCFC , from The Kop I felt like barracking Souness with blasts of how he had been ruining LFC since the summer of 1991 & how none of his work was good enough .

Instead I maintained my dignity and showed real class as a true LFC supporter in applauding Bristol City off the Anfield turf .

'Real' support is what LFC deserves .

All this talk of us buying this player and that not gonna happen why ,They will need to fit into our new criteria,
1. players 28 and over will be sold if they no longer are first team,
2. no player over 27 will be bought unless they have a sell on value in 2 years
wages will cut thats why we are buying so many youth we will unearth a gem every so often

DC said they were guidelines only and that they would make an exception if an exceptional talent become availlable. I hope we buy a player of the ability of Villa, Tevez, Eriksen etc as we need to be back up there. Personally I cant stand Spurs being ahead of us and Torres saying we are going down a strange path since Xabi left and we're not going to win titles. Fact is we have gone down a strange path but we can get back to winning ways soon with Kenny and Steve at the helm playing good football. We just need to sign the right players in Jan and our captain to come back strong.

And we need to give the present squad time...

hi ed just a quick 1 i think we could do a lot worse than put a cheeky bid in 4 saviola. wouldnt cost that much as his contract is up in the summer and he defo knows where the bag is. not saying where interested just an opinion

09 Nov 2011 21:10:12
We going back for Honda this jan?

I doubt it and there would be little point as the player views italy or spain as his ideal destinations and has no interest in playing in EPL.

I know I will get shot down for this, but I really think we should look at Walcott for the 3rd striker we need. His goals per game ratio isn't amazing (Suarez-Ajax), but he's been played out on the wing for 3 years now which hasn't helped his goals at all. In the England squad defenders always say how he isn't playing up front for Arsenal, cus he's always doing them in training! Also Messi said he was a 'very dangerous player' after he scored against Barca a few years back, probably the highest compliment a player can get.

He'll be only 23 next year, which is around the peak years for strikers and he's been showing some fantastic ability this year (goal against Chelsea) that will only come more consistent if he's actually played up front as a striker. Most importantly, he's an avid Liverpool fan, he was jumping for joy when we won in Istanbul, and I'm sure he'd give more and put his whole body into playing for his supported club.

Business wise, he's coming to the last year of his contract at Arsenal, refusing to sign, worth £12m max, not bad business compared to the £30-£40m top strikers cost these days. He knows the Premier League, no taking a year to settle in rubbish, also he's done it in Champions League and is English and will settle in fine with others.

We need pace, that's what he has, and can get 20 goals+ a season if played as a striker in behind the last defender I reckon. Up front and matured, he could become deadly for us. Stretching the game, pushing our defence higher, so we can pass and move better - a system he knows from Arsenal's playing style over the years. Especially if we get top 4 and Arsenal don't, he could defo come here for a bargain. Thoughts?

RedChris

Personally I'd be quite happy if we managed to get Walcott, he's improving all the time and could be a good, much quicker Dirk Kuyt-type of option. I would argue though that even with his contract issue, Arsenal would not sell for such a low figure. Bear in mind they held out for like £24m for Nasri and he only had 1 year left... I'd take Walcott at £12m, but £20m+? I'm not so sure.

DP

I would do sommersaults if we got Walcott. He is young, lightning fast and scores goals. Which begs the question: why would Wenger sell him?

hi EDS what are the chances out of 10 of liverpool signing lucas moura, david villa, ezequiel lavezzi, edinson cavani and moussa sissokho thanks!! {Ed002's Note - Please read the other posts and use the search function.}

I think we have a 100% chance of signing Villa. Perhaps only 99% of us also taking Messi in the deal. However, with Suarez/Villa/Messi up front, do you really think we need lavezzi and cavani?

Ed do you know of any interest in pedro from barca? He is going down the pecking order their

lets haves some songs for the new boys. Carroll needs one bad. Lets keep it positive please. Something like. He's big he's strong he's f...ing hard its andy carroll etc. He would love it and his game would be on. Ideas please lets have some fun this page has become a sad act number. We our better than this.

Bit late with that one mate........Sweet Carroll No.

kopite3001

Swing low sweet Carroll

How about:
he's big, he's red, he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo, looks like he wants to be somewhere else and he turns slower than a oil tanker, it's andy carroll, andy carrol....

Why sing about Carrol he is rubbish. No amount of singing will make him better. Training hard and then some at work and outside of it will. When he is playing he should run his arse off literally and this will help his fitness. We fans would love him if he worked but he doesnt run track or defend- everything a modern day striker is doing.

Not sure that song will be successful though ;-p

I'd like to hear us all singing "Liverpool reject" the next time he plays.......only joking.
Roll out the Carroll? Add words to fit.

I like the roll out the Carroll how about...
Roll out the Carroll,
he's going be scoring for fun
Roll out the Carroll,
We've got the blues on the run

Looking at stevie G's top goals on youtube and most are screamers from way out, why doesn't he have shots like these anymore?

Coz he is rubbish and anyone can hit a ball hard, just ask frank lampard.

Because he was injured for soooo long playing on injections so he could actually kick a ball...Think thats why mate, dont worry though when he is 100% i can see him partnering suarez like he did torres

If Liverpool are to sign a striker in January or anytime soon I would like to go for Marco Reus of Borussia Mönchengladbach, a pacy skillful clinical striker who has lit the German League alight this season. Attracting lots of interest, Bayern & Arsenal among them. For £16M-£18M should be a more than decent option up front, still 22yrs fits FSG category and also a long-term replacement of ageing Kuyt.

pytbull

Oliver Giroud would be a good acquistion.

We are crying out for a right winger. What about Sotiris Ninis? He seems a good player and if I'm not mistaken, his contract is running out soon and he fits in our transfer policy and we could get him on the cheap. Ed do you know if we may be interested... Man Utd almost signed him a few windows ago right?

Cape Town Red {Ed002's Note - There is no known interest.}

Thanx for the instant reply Ed! Ed do you think he is a player that would be good enough? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know, I can comment on players there may be interest in but it is pretty tough to do that on random names picked from thin air or fantasy manager or whatever.}

Ed Liverpool needs a right winger thats not heavily priced. Fergie was interested in him not too long ago(so he might not be a bad player) and his contract is coming to an end soon

Cape Town Red {Ed002's Note - But there is no known interest.}

I imagine if anybody started singing "kenny out" at anfield it would be a solo effort and that fan would end up on their backside, and rightly so.

MIKEY

100% agree mate surely its the players who are having trouble on the pitch, they seem to score enough in training so why not on the pitch , Kenny is a great manager and for people to shout "GET HIM OUT" or call for his head should bugger of and support someone else

MJ

Great shout MIKEY.

JRG

yes i hope you keep him forever cos he cant manage sunday league

So was it not the players under roy? you lots hated him and if you compare things there aint much dif infact with the players we now have id guess roy would be as good if not a little bit better!

Ed, is there any transfer that's likely to happen during the january window? {Ed002's Note - Just read the posts.}

09 Nov 2011 15:43:38
How many appearances has aquaman made for AC now, does the deal include CL aswell? {Ed002's Note - Nine I think - and all appearances count toward the 25.}

I forgot about that little deal... Any chance of a countdown from 10 eds? In a new year style kinda fashion but maybe with more cheers at the end of it..

Myk {Ed002's Note - Sure, you can do that.}

So are we now going to give out song sheets when we enter the ground? (By the way I have been going to Anfield for many years and I have noticed the atmosphere is nowhere near what it was.)

As I said earlier mate, I agree totally. Sadly, it isn't the atmosphere it once was unless it's a big game. Anfield last Saturday was as quiet as I've heard for a long time, however, if the team aren't playing or showing the desire, tempo, movement etc, it's very hard to get the place rocking. The fans aren't stupid, they can sense how well the team are playing fairly quickly and react accordingly. If the Pony Tail had bagged that early chance on Saturday the fans would have started the noise. The players get nervous too when the place is quiet so its a bit of a 'Catch 22' imo. But I do agree, we should be singing and creating the '12th man' atmosphere we are famous for regardless of who the opposition is or how big the game is etc etc.
Don't kid yourself, there's enough songs there, just need to get started singing them!
The Gotherder
JFT96

Everyone moans about the atmosphere why is it so bad if everyone is on it why not just sing and shout? instead of moaning on here, bob paisleys skids

Pity a gang of good singers can't all arrange to get seats together so they can start things off as much as they want- we need an Anfield band like the england one!

Most chanting starts from the back of the kop when I've been there.. Rest of the ground would usually follow suit.. But I haven't been for a while so shouldn't really comment

Myk

What happened to the "singing section" that was formed on the kop a few years back,whose sole purpose was to have a good sing song, get chants going etc? as i believe people were asked to move seats to create this singing section.

Prawn sandwich brigade no enough scousers in the ground all Irish , swedes, norge, danes not known for their chanting but great for the club shop

Hello Eds.
Do you thnk LFC will be in a hunt for a playmaker in the jan/summer window? And what do ou think would be the names?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - No.}

I reckon we might have a nother look at Kagawa of dortmund. I know interest has cooled due to poor season but the guy would bring plenty of creativity and an eye for a killer pass. Personally I'd have him over honda

Kenny has said during the transfer window last summer that that our owner Mr Henry has told him to continue spending after we bought all our players , we have a cool 12 million from the meireles sale plus extra cash from our owners than surely we'll throw some cash for big name players like villa and tevez , i'm not saying we are guaranteed in buying them or anything but with our current form where we cant score a goal unless we have suarez at the front than i think its inevitable that we will be buying an top scorer during the January window and we don't have to look further than up the M62 and buy carlos tevez , it just makes sense and i know use (Ed's) are realistic about transfer targets but as if we wouldn't at LEAST show some interest in him !! {Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure the owners have not said "keep spending" and there is no £12M from the sale of Meireles just sitting around. The club are going to make a very significant loss this year - well beyond last year's £20M loss, so piles of money are not just kicking around. If you want Tevez, don't look down the M62, look across the Atlantic to Argentina.}

Click 'agree' below if you stopped reading at the mentioning of Tevez.

Ash,
re : the thread started 20.26 hours last night -
I don't think anyone has to apologise mate. The fact is the players that were bought are now with us.
We have no option other than to give them time.
Moaning and getting on their backs all the time is gonna do no good at all.
How other clubs perform is out of our control.
To me, progress will be achieving a higher points total than last season. That's the simplest form of measurement.
I honestly cannot see FSG writing off the new players you say are not performing, and getting rid, at a loss, at the end of the season.
Or, equally, Kenny and his management team.
The man should be given the respect and patience to at least see the duration of his contract out. Unless it goes drastically wrong.
The Real KB

KB, it is only my opinion. I have said all along that the signings made are not good enough, and all along I have had my opinion slated by the likes of you telling me how negative I am etc etc. I don't moan and get on the players backs, I simply don't believe that players such as Carroll, Downing and Adam are of the required quality to take us forward and the money would have been spent better elsewhere. I didn't rate them at their previous clubs, and I have seen nothing at our club to change my mind. I respect Kenny greatly, both as a player and a manager, but I think he (or Commolli, whichever it is) has made some huge mistakes in the transfer market. Another thing I find infuriating is that we play better with Carroll out the team and Henderson is not a right winger, but week on week the same mistakes are being made. I hope, just like you that it works out, I just simply cannot seeing doing so.

Ash

That's fair enough.
But a straight forward comparison with this time last season will tell you that progress has been made.
The football's miles better, chances are being made, better options off the bench. It's not as bad as you're making out.
You've already made your mind up though. Let's look at the season end.
The Real KB

I am a liverpool fan but however bad the players are, i dont feel like slating them,propably thats my nature.
INDIAN SCOUSER YNWA

Saying it every damn day doesnt help

Let's see where we are come the summer, before slating the team.We are playing much better football and you must give credit to the oppositions goalkeepers, who have made top saves against us.I am a season ticket holder and there is no comparison from last season to now.We are much better.We need the right side addressing in January,but come on lads lets get together and support the team.Sniping on the net and radio station, is so disappointing,
so come on lads,bring back the good old days, of come on you reds.
Micheal Mouse

Ash, do us all a favour, we know its only your opinion and you just want to voice it, but it comes across as yet another whingeing supporter. Quite honestly I have no interest whatsoever in 'your opinion' if your opinion is constantly whingeing.Some people just want to constantly tell the world about their opinions, when in reality no-one is interested. If you cant stop whingeing why dont you support FCB or Manu...weve had enough of you...sorry, but thats my opinion!

Tel1949

Ash,
I wouldn't like these pages to turn into a one viewpoint forum, so of course you're entitled to your opinion. But don't you have anything good to say about the new lads at all ? But it's just like every time we even draw, there's loads on here doing the team & Kenny down.
The Real KB

Tel1949
I am interested in Ash's opinion and have agreed with him many times, dont talk on behalf of the world when you are actually just stating what you think (your opinion) which is also of interest to me, its good to read both sides of the argument.
I would rather people come in here and whinge than having our fans boo our team in our ground; dont you?
Roy

You know what you should do Tel if you don't want to read my opinion? Don't read my opinion! KB, The signings I believe are good enough for us are Coates, Enrique and (obviously) Suarez. Plus we have some brilliant youngsters coming through such as Coady, Suso, Silva, Sterling and Morgan. But right now, I believe we have not invested a large part of our finances wisely which will sadly come back to haunt us. That's all.

Ash

Ash, when you start reading a post, its a little difficult to say Im not going to read this post when youve already started. Your last post was a little more positive though, so maybe I will read it in future. Any more of that moaning though and you get a yellow ...ok?

Sorry ROY but I have no interest in reading peoples whinges, if your OK with that then fine, but personally I havnt. It achieves absolutely nothing that is good for LFC, all it does it allows someone to brain dump their whinge. Anything constructive is fine, but please guys....cut the whingeing and start supporting the team

Tel 1949
Tel 1949

I'm sorry Tel, but I really din't give a monkeys whether you read my posts or not. You are sick of what you consider "whining" just the same as I am sick of seeing "just have faith" without any real argument as to why behind it. You say how it achieves nothing to "whine" as you put it, but how boring would this site be if we all posted how great we all had the same opinion? We all support the team and want us to do well, but some of us just don't have the same confidence that you have that we will.

Ash

Ash has been right all along. Suarez, coates n enrique have been the only good signings, n it is high time that KK realises british players r not of the same quality that they used to be 2 decades ago. We paid over the odds for downing n carrol, n adam just doesnt cut it for me. Henderson may cum good in a couple of seasons, but playin him on the right wont do him any good. We need a gritty midfielder n a goal poacher desperately in jan, if we r to challenge for a top4 spot. With this squad, top6 is more realistic.
Indian Buzzer

Ash, clearly all you want to do is either argue with someone or brain dump your whinge on everyone else. 99.99% of supporters and just not interested in hearing whingeing all day and every day, we want to enjoy our team. You come across as a spoilt brat who is determined to get his whinge across to the world no matter what.

And Im sure you will try and reply to this because you just cant stop whingeing.

The EDs on this site must get really sick of the whingeing brigade, of which you are definitely an honorary member.

Do us all a favour, just give it a rest, do your schoolwork like a good boy, go back to your manc site and let real LFC supporters enjoy this site...

I have seen a few posts about how nobody sings and how quiet anfield is recently.
Why don't a few people have a go at making up some songs about our new players?
Or post a few forgotten ones?

MIKEY

LFC should be giving this some serious consideration.

As I said earlier, Anfield last Saturday was as quiet as I've heard for a long time, however, if the team aren't playing or showing the desire, tempo, movement etc, it's very hard to get the place rocking. The fans aren't stupid, they can sense how well the team are playing fairly quickly and react accordingly. ed, when do u fink we will give the likes of Morgan, Stearling, Suso, Silva and Coady ago, ino we need to strenght a lil but we shud either loan them or slowly blend them in, give em 10-15 mins from the bench or summet we can save millions if they end up being good.

also it annoys me when i read our own fans slating the team or individuals, like any team with so many new additions(7 new players, 4 1st team,Enrique,Adam,Hendo,Downing) its going to take time for the team to play to the potential they can, they dont just click over night the good fing is that we are creating chances just need to get a bit of luck and convert them, look how long it took utd n arsenal to start playing to there potential, as long as we get CL football its a good season, n hopefully with 1 maybe 2 additions next season we can mount a serious title challenge.

BigD {Ed009's Note - I think at this point I can't see any of those players becoming regular squad additions this year. Coady is certainly the most ready for first team action due to his physical maturity, and I imagine he will get no end of chances in pre-season and, if he takes them, they could lead to a spot on the bench next year. Suso and Sterling are the other standout players there, but they are a little physically slight at the minute and it is important to note that there can be significant danger in throwing players into the rigours of a league like the PL too soon.}

Just wanted to ask 1 of the EDS if they think nathen eccelstone is good enough to make it with us
{Ed009's Note - Unfortunately not. He is fairly fast and I suppose fairly good at finishing but his all round game is not up to the standards of a top Premier League striker. He will probably end up a good Championship player.}

Ed if He is fairly fast and I suppose fairly good at finishing. then why not ?

Hi Eds, on the subject of Nathan Ecclestone, what was the outcome regarding those 'idiotic' comments he posted, and the owners response to it.
Food for thought. {Ed002's Note - I think that whatever the outcome it would be kept in house.}

Hi
I am just watching LFC TV and there is a preview show, about the film "Will" it is a film about the miracle in istanbul in 2005
Looks great, you should defo check it out if you have some free time.
Does anyone know if it is released, or the release date. And if it will come in cimemas or just DVD.

Many thanks

LFC 2929 {Ed009's Note - It was released in the cinemas last Friday, though from what I have heard it is not brilliant. Don't necessarily let that put you off though!}

I'm surprised it hasn't gone straight to DVD ed. lol.

I am Liverpool through and through but lets get real - why would David Villa want to come to Liverpool?

Regular 1st team football. as Berca is going with fabrigas messi . when sancez back he will find bench for sure as his relation with messi not good. dear friendof him pepe is there, he is conected to south american suarez is there. dont forget few month a go he have an interview about liverpool in our official website. he like liverpool personaly as he know lots of thing about liverpool.

If i remember correctly didnt he tell torres to leave as he should be playing champs league. would only be possible if liverpool were to finish in top 4. even then there will be a few teams in for him that could offer a much higher wage.

Is the exit door open for Maxi in January? Kenny must know Maxi and Enrique could at this moment in time form as good as or if not better partnership than the current Enrique – Downing left sided pairing.

Why? Maxi scores goals, as well as retains possession in tight areas equally as good as Enrique. They could one-two and triangulate with the centre mid accurately up the pitch and with Enrique's over lapping and crossing ability- chances would be plentiful. Enrique's overlap would also give Maxi space to choose to cut inside and unleash a venomous shot like his strike against Fulham.

Bellamy could similarly fulfil this role on the left but is perhaps more direct and more of a risk taker in possession than Maxi. Don't get me wrong, Downing is creating chances but I feel Maxi's intelligence and experience against sides at Anfield in particular would have a calming effect on our play and add balance and accuracy to it that would help create more often the particular goal scoring opportunities that we can actually finish given the way the personnel up front currently play.

Downing has more pace than Maxi and in theory should be brilliant for counter attacks but so far when such counter attacking opportunities have arisen, he has either picked the wrong final pass or shot wayward. Things he has done well is sending decent crosses in which we have failed to connect with properly and he has also successfully hit balls low and hard in between defence and keeper which no one has gambled on.

This leaves me to believe that either Carroll and Suarez need to up their game to Sync with the good opportunities that Downing makes or we revert back to Maxi on the left wing and play pass and move effectively to pull defenders out of position and get in behind.

Red Otter

I think it might be time to give maxi a run in the team, downing has been a bit of a let down recently, maybe a stint on the bench would do him some good. Also bringing on downing with all his pace in the last 20 mins or so of a game might help change things if we are struggling.
Downing is the better player but if his form is awful he should be dropped until he gets his hunger/confidence back.

very tough game is coming. away to chelsea and then unbetten city to home. a draw is welcome in both match. people ask why we mad about home draw to swansea and norwich. the reson is big game ahed that is very tough to win so u have to win easy game at home. {Ed001's Note - no such thing as an easy game, don't be so arrogant and disrespectful!}

{ed001's note - no such thing as an easy game, don't be so arrogant and disrespectful!}

ok ed001 so you think city in home is same as swansea and norwich ? we have to accept we are not better team then city. {Ed001's Note - what are you talking about? You are not even discussing the original point, nor making any sense or using the reply I made in any sensible context. Stop wasting my time.}

Hi ed..fantastic work and great site..

i was watching our game against most of the teams this season...ed what you think..are we better in 4-3-1 formation or 4-4-2...i think KK wants the team to work to get the best of carroll...
4-4-2 is not liverpools way...we play brillinat with 3 players behind the striker...
4-2-3-1 formation rafa best..made gerrard best so torres..
Man u plays 4-4-2..becoz they alwasy had speedy wingers..ronaldo, nani, valencia, young...
we need to play 4-2-3-1. with gerrard operating behind suarez...downing and bellamy on the sides..with pace...lucas and adam/henderson in the midfield..will bring the best of gerrard and suarez..
by all the means..4-4-2 isnt working...
carroll should be given a rest and we shoudl win 2-3 gmaes without him..and then give him the game..

Rafa never purchased a striker..neither he wanted..coz he knew..and believed in our midfield..alonso/masch/ gerrard...he bought players who plays behind torres..bennayoon/riera/babel/ and kuyt...he knew that in torres liverpool had the best striker in the world...he just need the ball..gerrard/ bennayoon/ riera..alosno..
I feel we should play 4-2-3-1 formation with chelsea...coz we need to win the midfield....

ed need you honest opinion.... {Ed001's Note - Liverpool always played 4-4-2 in the past, so I don't know where you get it is not the Liverpool way from. I really don't care what formation Rafa used, the football was mind-numbingly dull for all bar 6 months. The formation is irrelevant to me, players comfortable playing with each other will move all over the pitch and interchange constantly, the initial formation is just not all that important. You can tweak the 4-4-2 so easily, pulling a striker back when you lose the ball makes it a 4-5-1. Pulling one wide midfielder in narrow while allowing the other to play more as a winger gives you a 4-3-3 of sorts. It really makes no odds, it is all about how well you play the system, not the system itself.}

I think it's time to start singing and getting behind Kenny and the lads for 95 minutes week in week out. Our famous 12th man needs to make an appearance then we will see players responding and those who don't can ligitamitly come under question. We need to show that we believe that there is no bigger club in these transitional times.

Couldn't agree more mate. What do you reckon Ed?

hi Ed...great works...

If reports are to be believed..spurs are offering Defoe for Amauri...Ed why dont we put a bid for him...apart from his injury..he is stilal aclassa act..his finishing ability is excellent..with adebeyor and vander vat, also liamo joining spurs..defoe will be surplus...he has technique and finishing ability...and he has proven scoring in EPL...a bid for around 10 mill will enough to bring to anfield....whats ur say?? {Ed001's Note - not good enough, his scoring record proves it, go look how few he actually does score.}

As a spurs fan, were not offering defoe to anyone esp amauri, this I'm told is paper talk, despite the paper talk spurs are still in pole for leandro damiao due to the affiliation of both clubs and the eagerness of the player, also ed 1 is spot on with defoe's description

ed what is your opinion on seydou doumbia , do you think he would be willing to come in january cheers {Ed001's Note - looks a decent enough player from what I have seen. Not sure about how willing he would be to come over though, there is a lot of interest in him from the Prem though.}

ARSENAL WANT HIM IN PAST. and recently he say in a news paper come and get me arsenal. if we go 1st with good offfer then he sure come. saw few game he is very hard working CM. go to attack and help defance too.

Seydou Doumbia is a striker, as far as I know.

king kenny if u can read this, am beggin u to please step down as a liverpool manager bfre is 2 late coz 1.ur tactics in match doesnt wrk effectively anymore like the 90s. swansea played like barca against us n dyer played like messi.
2.our raw squad which u have put in will start bearin fruits aftr 3 to 4 season frm nw so expect no champ league 4 nxt 2 season.
3.am sure rafa would have brought better player with all da transfer amt. downing,hendo,carroll,adam (headless chickens) have been playin like a player of a mid table club compared 2 the talent of alonso, torres, masch, kuyt, yossi,reira bought by rafa with a similar transfer budget.
4. v should set the standard of beatin teams like barca, real madrid which all the top english club have been doin coz at da moment liverpool club is turnin into academy with only raw and young players still long way 2 go.
4.u r the king, no.1 legend of liverpool so don't end up gettin fired instead jus step down when u r on high bfre is 2 late.
kenny please suggest benitez or ancelotti 2 repace u 2 JH thanks...

Right...

Obviously this guy/girl doesn't have ANY faith in our clubm.. requesting Dalglish should be sacked after 10 months, saying all of our signings are total flops and will never grace the liverpool shirt, predicting it will be 2 years untill we reach the champions league, im glad your so optomistic about this season... Can you see a pattern? Worryingly, there are many more people who think like this. No bloody wonder were such a negative club at the moment. As i said in my last post, we have so much to cheer about. I think this guy should buy himself a City top and do one. All about the glory and not about the love for the club. Shocking...

Fully support this articale. I will like ancelloti to take over.

1king kenny is the RIGHT man to build this squad back to what it once was.
2have you forgot some of the players rafa bought for the club ie babel,aquaman,degen,robbie keane ect
3ancelotti couldnt even get chelsea in order you forgot about all the off field antics of last year?
4.you sound like a kid off school sick you cant even spell
5 kenny needs time for team to gel you forgot the starting 11 has completely changed since last december?

DCG

What a muppet! You refer to players as "headless chickens" then name the likes of Kuyt and Riera as great buys by rafa.

Riera couldnt get a game off the manager that signed him and Kuyt although he gives 100% every game is a winger with no pace, cant cross, cant take a man on and his shotting lacks some what.

Downing is better than ANY of the wingers Rafa signed. Is it his fault that noone is putting the crosses in the back of the net?

You also forgot to mention Saurez and Enrique again better than any LB or striker Rafa signed.

You talk about our Raw team of Kids. Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtle, Enrique at the back on Sat. Which are young or raw?

Midfield Lucas, Adam, Downing and Henderson - maybe 1 raw/young.

Upfront Saurez and Carroll 1 raw/young.

Do 2 players make a young raw team?

Also Rafa did not have to compete City spending and had the benefit of Champions League football to attract players.

Look at the stats from our games. Where dominating possesion and creating tons of chances there just not going in at the moment. This will eventually change and someone will get a spanking!

Grow up and get behind the team.

Huyton Red {Ed009's Note - I would like to interject on one matter; I am not sure that Suarez is better than Torres was at the peak of his powers. Similar level, sure, but Torres was the most potent finisher in the world for a couple of years. I do wholly agree with you on everything else though.}

Just wish its not like , end of the season finish no 6 and think what to do ? or think now did we want change ? january still 2 month away.

Clearly these muppets are not Liverpool supporters. kenny resign ?? he is our savious from the hell weve suffered for the last few years. If we lose the next 12 games Kennys record is still better tha Hodgsons based on points per game average. Why am I even attempting to justify our King ?? muppets, go and crawl back into your holes or have another pint of bitter

tel 1949

Spot-on Huyten Red - I said something similar in a post a couple of days ago. During Rafa's time there was four teams going for four Champions League places, our only competition was Everton. There is now six teams going for those four places, the competition is much harder. At the end of Rafa's five years in charge we finished 7th - behind City, Spurs and Villa even with a Gerrard and Torres in their prime.

Rafa done a lot of good things for the club, such as the academy, but it in the two seasons since he left the club we have needed to completely rebuild the team due to his poor signings.

What annoys me is that people have given Rafa five years at the club and want him back for more, yet they are willing to give Kenny only 10-months in charge. If this team had a Torres from three years ago in it we would be top three without a doubt. That for me shows the progress we have made.

JRG

All this rubbish about the team needing time to gel. That's what it is just rubbish! How long did KKs team need time to gel the last time he was in charge when he signed barnes, beardsley, houghton and aldridge?

I will tell you how long no time at all, and do you know why cos they were great players which is more that can be said about the currant rabble, so this giving time to gel does not wash with me.

So we sack Kenny and bring in some one else and ten months down the road our so called supporters are not happy with the new manager and want him removed and we get another manager and ten months down the road our so called supporters are once again not happy so we remove that manager are you dick heads getting the message . The king has onbly been on his throne for ten months and you idiots expect us to be top of the league favs for the cups get this through your thick heads IT DONT WORK LIKE THAT ! paisley, fagan and dalglish himself were able to manage ready built teams and take them on to another level Shanks on the other hand had to build a team now look how long it took the great William Shankly to build his great team and our great history and understand rome (or Liverpool) wasnt built in a day you idiots

If you can't beat teams like Swansea,Norwich and Sunderland at your own back yard, it speaks volumes about the tactics used and the players you acquired. Wake up if you think we have made great progress and that we need more time. Two decades is enough and by the look of things to come, sixth or seventh place is our best bet for another decade if things don't improve soon. Should we sack KK? We should know come January. I can only pray and hope that these headless chickens will realise soon enough and turn our fortunes around. Are we to translate those misses by our players as making progress or sheer bad luck? Yeah give them more time to get it right like most fans would say. We can dream about getting Villa, Eriksen,Walcott and the likes of them but unless we start winning and get into Champion League and compete with the others in wages, we will still be getting headless chickens at inflated prices!!

Ive been giving some thought as to why our home supporters dont shout as loud as the visiting teams. I remember ( all those years ago) when young lads like myself looked forward to saving up all week to get enough cash to go the match, nearly always certain of getting a ticket for boys pen.

We used to make up new songs every week for certain players while we were at school, then try them out at the weekend. the Kop usually followed if it was an easy song!

Our away supporters now are very much like we were all those years ago, the away trip is the highlight of their week and the build up to the game is incredible. By the time kickoff comes they are well on form, hence the brilliant support we always get away from home.

LFC need to somehow find a way of letting the young lads get to the home matches, and show us older guys how to sing again. they have no inhibitions and just sing their heads off....new version of the BOYS PEN ?

Maybe thats why supporters at say Blackpool and Stoke are so vocal, the young lads can get to the home games and gee up the crowds.

Please forgive the ramblings of an old supporter, I just dream of the days when Anfield erupts.... no matter who were playing at home

Tel 1949

I imagine a lot more people will get to the game when we either get a new stadium or anfield is expanded. Hopefully some tickets will be cheaper as well in the less desirable sections of the ground.

Hey Ed's,
Just wondered whether you have heard anything regarding the Suarez/Evra situation? It seems to have been quiet for a week or so, i dont really understand how it could take so long to sort out. Any info regarding this would be much appreciated.

Thanks Ed's, great job

lost to city chelsea and city will put us in no 10th place. january is near Kenny may be on the way out then

Well lets be positive and say that if we work hard close down and pass the ball better and take our chances wins against city and chelsea will put us in a decent position

Wins could put us 3rd? What exactly are you expecting?

Win is expecting but back to back draw make worry. a draw also been very much wel come with city.

Alot of people are asking the question. Why are we loosing games at home to Norwich, Swansea etc. I dont have the answers but being a season ticket holder for 13 years, these things do not help.

The support is dismal, no singing and getting behind the players, instead im sat infront of a load of ear bashing dip sticks who repetatively tell me "Carroll, your crap, Dirk you sh*te, Reina your a wolly" and the classic "Kenny, your past it". The Swansea fans were chanting "Are we in a libary" they may aswell have been. It was embarassing to say the least! For Swansea and Norwich, this is their Cup Final to come to Anfield. They couldnt have fit anymore swansea fans in, they were truley fantastic. When things arent going our way, we look to the players, we look to the refferee, we look to the manager but never look at ourselves and how we can help. The players and Kenny need every ounce of support from us and its about time we give them some. It shows in the big games where the atmosphere is buzzing, the scarfs are being waved above 45,000 people's heads, the ante is upped and we become that twelth man. Teams fear us where we are in that mood, you see it at away games, our support is inspirational hence why were doing well away from home (not including spurs). If we showed that kind of commitment at Anfield, i could guarentee we would get the results or at the least see the lads put 100% in. We have so much to cheer about, we have money, great owners, Kenny back. Why not shout about it? What i'd say to somebody who is going to the next home game is, you've paid the parking fee, you've had your pie and pint and you've paid your money to watch the game, so give it everything! Support our club.

Well said, sorry to point out but we didnt loose to norwich or swansea

I don't go to the match any more so this may seem a bit out of turn, but I do wish the crowd would get behind the team a bit more and sing louder and more often.
Loads of fans read this site so hopefully the posts will spur them on to sing a bit more.

I have noticed that too Adzil mate. The atmosphere at home against 'lesser' teams, is awful.

Whats up with the atmosphere at Anfield? where's the 12th man? No wonder the new players arent that confident. I flew over from Ireland to the game and was the only one in my section who seemed up for singing, chanting . I fear it may be the end of an era. I know there are plenty of loyal supporters out there but there seems to be more fairweather fans who dont get what made this a great club, and Anfield a unique and special place.

The twelveth man has always been there behind the team for years. the twelveth man is so used to success long time ago. But since 1990, we have not make much progress since then. Yes we can brag about beating the top teams occasionally but we keep dropping points against lesser teams. If there is anyone to be blamed it is the management and the players.

09 Nov 2011 10:51:41
i think im one of our negative supporters a fan of aqua , meriles etc when we drew with swansea would,nt even watch match of the day over it i think its because im desperate for liverpool to challenge for top honours. every year you hear not this year maybe in 2or3years we,l have a chance of the premier league its like ground hog year every year but i will allway back liverpool all the way they will be no other .i would,nt be a bit surprised if we beat chelsea away because if we turn up and have a go at these guys i think we,l win i know people are on carrols back but in all fairness he was awesome for newcastle so he will come good for us ,let adam take all corners ,pen,free kicks ,etc let henderson play in the middle i do think some team is due a hiding from liverpool soon ...

Yes they will come good but when? Average players won't get us into champions league.

09 Nov 2011 10:26:43
Hope we don't buy de jong. Done some scouting of my own and got hold of 5 full matches. He is clumsy and slow and his finishing is all about power, no finesse. In addition to this his goals return is about a goal every 2.5 games in Holland. That would drop significantly in England. We need a clinical finisher and sadly he isn't one. He is much more like Kuyt.

If ITV are broadcasting the match and you live in India then unfortunately you can't watch it...Unless you use a UK proxy server eg (daveproxy).

But there's a simpler way!

Download sopcast and visit fsicrew.info for the stream ;)

Alternatively you can try:

why are people constantly going on about andy carroll all the time and kennys judgment because during the torres fiasco even i said ...as soon as torres was sold we should go all out for andy carroll ...the boy looked a real handful at newcastle ...almost unplayable ....unfortunately it is just not happening for the kid yet ....yes kid ...lets all remember this and give the boy all our support ...because im convinced he will come good ......ynwa

Sorry but I never thought that we should move for Carroll. I always thought, he lacks confidence on the ball. But I too admired him, especially I can't forget the day he scored two against us. He was absolutely unstoppable that day. Hope, he gets that kind of form soon.

To be fair to Carroll, he's a handfull when he's facing the goal and attacking a high ball. IMO its pointless playing Carroll unless there are two out 'n out wingers to put crosses into the box from the byline for him to attack. All the aerial balls put to him against Swansea were played from our own half for him to flick on to Suarez. Very little came from the flanks.

Joey Barton set Carroll up for more goals than any other player last season. From?? the centre maybe, just maybe 2 goals from his last 3 starts isnt actually a bad ratio! How about just letting the kid play. Get used to his new team mates and get a bit of confidence the rest will follow.

He isnt a technically gifted player however he is a big presence, creates space for others great with his head and the boy can strike as sweet as anyone! Reminds me of shearer - just bigger.

Huyton Red

No wish to get involved in Carroll is he/isn't he good enough...but another
Shearer ??? Hello ???

Puzzled

Hello isn't a question it's a statement. Yes shearer. You know the player that weren't quick, didn't have a box full of tricks but could always find the goal. Put simply an old style striker.

Carroll can replicate that no reason why he can't. He has the power, strength, heading and strike. Just needs to find his confidence

Hi all, Just thought I would put in my two bob in regards to all the negative talk about KK and the tactics currently employed. Firstly apart from the spurs game we have played a great brand of football just the final product has been missing and surely u can't blame the manager for that it's not as if he can come on and put it in the back of the net himself , yes the strikers are down on confidence but if we keep on playing the way we are then it will eventually happen. Secondly a question for the ed's if u find the time to respond. In the last half of last year Suarez and Kuyt played really well together and have not been given much of a run this year obviously due to Carroll needing game time and confidence. Do u think that might be a better option and use Carroll more off the bench until he regains his touch? Kind regards. Aussie Jim

I am with you on that mate, Kuyt and Suarez have looked very fluient up top when paired together. No I am not having a go at Carroll as I think he is very good at what he does but Liverpool and Kenny are not implimenting tactics for what he does.

09 Nov 2011 09:04:27
The odds are if we beat Chelsea and City in our next two games and the other resluts go our way, all of these "Kenny out", Hendo, Carroll Carra, Downing out/dropped negativity merchants will be on here Giving it some about how we've got a really good chance of Champions League, with an outside chance of winning the League.

I was gutted about the Norwich and Swansea results, but at no point did I contemplate a manager and player cull. You'd have to be a clueless weapon to start shouting about getting rid of Kenny and half of the new signings by November. Come on! Jesus Christ!

Let me just wipe these tears of blood running down my face after reading those comments...........

Results don't always go your way, so pull up your huggies and ask yourself, am I a Liverpool supporter who only gets behind the team when we're winning? If you are then shame on you, and you best had start watching La Liga and support Barca if your team can't loose a game. Even they've drawn 4 games though, so Pep should get him self prepared for the fickle if you do.

We're 3 points behind chelsea and Spurs, who are the teams we'll be fighting for fourth against, so have a word with yourselves and get behind the team.

Scott78

We play better away then we do at home. Its like Arsenal last season, their away form is what got them the 4th place spot. Hopefully we'll be able to do the same, but we need to start a momentum, we can't win then draw.

We have to get behind the team, no matter what happens.

Renegadered

Did well away at spurs! It will take more points to finish 4th this season so we need to be winning most home and away games.

Has anyone stopped and asked themselves a very fundamental question? ' why is our home form poor ?'...let me offer my reasons 1) poor vocal support at home, norwich and swansea supporters drowned us ou 2) constant groans from the crowd for the tiniest of mistakes 3) Whingeing supporters constantly on the backs of our young players 4) lack of confidence caused by poor support at home. Stuart Downing is a classic example of this.

In our heydays, it was always loud singing, clapping the players if they did something good, we made them feel 10 feet tall before they started playing. At times anfield is like a morgue, and although it pains me to admit it, the supporters arent doing their job. Kenny touched on this before the swansea game, asking for vocal support.

Compare this to manu games at home, they are screaming all through the game

Tel 1949

Average team, home and away.

ive posted on here few days saying id like tevez, but reading the papers, hes gone bk ome witout permission, i totally agree with u eds now, he is a bad egg no doubt bout it.. wot kind of player do u eds fink we need in attack, a wide player like johnson/marin, playmaker like ericksson/hamsik or cf like poldolski/hulk.

I have commented here before that I cannot believe people on here suggest Tevez for Liverpool.He is a toerag. All his antics are of course to get away from the club...He is making sure that City do not either (a) play him another once or twice thereby completing 10% of games and preventing him cancelling his contract and so getting a fat signing fee somewhere else...or (b) play him for 15 mins in a European game thereby cup-tieing him and making his move to a big club this season less likely...

No matter what football ability there is - the time we look to someone of this character is the time we should shut up shop

it makes me sad to see all our fans slaming our great club. its not needed for me it seems its starting to come out in the atmosphe at anfield which is a massive problem. i can remember a time not so long ago teams came to us and just fell apart we were the 12, 13, 14, 15th men no one could cope. something has changed all this negativeness is killing us and affecting the players too.

lets bring it back we have a great opportunity coming up with chelsea away lets rub it in those two ex players faces bring positive songs and create the atmosphe,give the feeling that we our playing home.

home to Man city lets get it rocking like the old days champs nights make it feel like 80 thousand fans in there.

finally its time to give the new boys Carrol, hend, downing and Adam a song make them feel at home. exp Carrol he needs it i think once he knows we our all behind him and he knows he is loved you will see a change. he was great for Newcastle and i think he will be far better for us. only difference now is the lad is feeling the pressure and i see not much love towards him.

lets all get together and make these songs happen. i feel we will be looking at a great team come january if we show our love for these new boys so comments below for the songs please and lets keep it positive at the end of the day we all want the same, successful team that will bring us the title.

thanks Jason

I 100% agree with you mate.
I used to go to anfield quite frequently and the atmosphere was top notch. Sadly, I've not been able to go as much lately as i've moved. But if anyone's willing to give me a ticket, i'll gladly get a ride down there and contribute to all the singing and chanting, that was probably the best part for me anyways!
