In mt opinion I feel there is too many defenders at the club. I suspect Wisdom and Ilori may be loaned out in addition to Flanagan and McLaughlin. Obviously depending on the seriousness of Johnsons injury!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There is nothing like too many in any squad.
if there is too many its the number of games
cup games are very important for lfc as they surely want to win both the cups. and that is where use the extra defenders. flanno could be loaned but no point in loaning wisdom.

Agree0 Disagree0

5 into 2 is fine you will keep your central defenders happy. better too many than not enough its a long old season and two of these guys are unknown in the epl so I think you need the extra players so you can ease your new signings in and you didn't need anymore attacking options unless of course couthino gets injured gulp

Hi eds would it be fair to say the best time to buy from South American leagues is January
Much appreciated {Ed001's Note - it depends on the team.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No mate, you're slightly confused it's the best time to buy under used and under appreciated Brazilian players from Inter Milan. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ricky alavarez anyone? :P

well I am not an expert just another fan but I think Moses is a useful player in wide positions .he is fast and can dribble. sterling and Ibe are very great prospects but just not mature enough.

and also I m sure L.S. will come straight back into the first team. not any chance he will replace denial. but I think Aspas will come on from the bench. what ever Luis is he can score goals. and infect created some great goals for denial last season too(Chelsea game).

he must be played as a free second striker. And must be allowed to roam anywhere behind denial
although I don't know how this tactically is possible

and at last.after so many years lfc is where it belongs on the league table.just want this dream to never end.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It took me a long time to figure out who the "denial" you referred to actually was Daniel Sturridge. For a minute I assumed there was another Liverpool player you didn't like!

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought he was referring to Moses, he was found in the denial!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a great time to go to denial, what with Egypt's current uncertainty. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

What's the matter with Egypt's currency?

Hi Eds, do you know the extent of Daniel Sturridge injury? Will he be fit for Mondays game at the Liberty?
Many thanks in advance {Ed002's Note - He should be fine but may not be risked if there is any question.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's interesting as we risked Sturridge against United when he was ''70%'', granted a much bigger match on the calender but the same reward is on the table, the almighty three points. Hopefully he's fit and plays and continues his great form.

So Di Marzio was right about a bid for Yarmolenko, their manager just confirmed it. All this talk about us being in for a LF who scores goals and we've bid for Mkhitaryan, Costa, Willian, Yarmolenko, there also might have been one for Soldado. What's going on with the scattergun approach.

In other news, Top Of The League!

Rodgers ' Sturridge hasn't played a match this season where he has been 100% match fit'

Now isn't that a scary thought ;)

no not really, players can perform very well at and from 80%

These international breaks drive me nuts, I generally don't give two hoots about the England team, but I will tune in tomorrow against Ukraine to watch Andriy Yarmolenko and Yevhen Konoplyanka, wide players that we were heavily linked with in the window .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fingers crossed, let's hope they both do the job tomorrow. I trust my boys to win against England tomorrow. Go Ukraine! Go Ukrayina!

Agree0 Disagree0

Count yourself lucky. I only have the Socceroos to watch in international breaks. Painful doesn't begin to explain it.

Hi eds any word on sturridge and how long he's expected to be out for? {Ed002's Note - He is pretty much fit I understand. Missing the England game seems to be a precaution.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think this is good. It might be my biased shining through but it seems like United and Arsenal players were always protected when suffering with knocks on international duty whereas Liverpool players were thrown into it regardless, Owen, Redknapp, Gerrard, Carroll and Johnson being the more recent examples.

I cannot recall the amount of times that Carrick, Scholes, Ferdinand, Wilshere, Cole etc were all withdrawn from international squads to suddenly be miraculously healed come the following weekend.

As I said, it might be my bias but it's nice to see the Liverpool guys having a bit of protection when away on England duty.

Cheers all, keep up the good work Eds

Hi all,

I wanted to get some views on Sturridge and his team play.

I think he could be our main striker for a long while to come but I feel he is still too selfish. He could have played Aspas in on more than a few occasions in our first 3 games which may have taken the pressure off the team. He has improved his team play since he joined but I think he needs to work on it a lot more to become a great player for me.

I hope Sturridge heals soon but that said, I'm really looking forward to seeing Aspas given a go in the centre. I don't imagine him being our star forward but I think the guys got goals in him and getting a few PL goals will help his confidence and he may get a pass or two the next game! Ha! Ha!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I for one have nothing against selfish strikers.
sturridge is a good striker, the fact that he drops so deep to get the the ball speaks volumes abt his team game.
as for not passing to aspas, I saw that in the manchester game. those passes were difficult and since coutinho was around he opted for him. the problem is aspas is always on the right of sturridge and sturridge trusts his left foot so he opts to shoot

Agree0 Disagree0

Bob paisley once told Ian Rush that he wasn't selfish enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has missed a few chances to play aspas in but the times I recall it wasn't due to selfishness he didn't see the pass till too late. Just an issue of experience and development so let's not worry too much he'll learn

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers everyone, I appreciate the comments. Here's to a great season!

Agree0 Disagree0

See everyone. that's my definition of a 'happy post'!

Observations made, not all agreeing with the comments, but putting their opinions in a friendly and non-agressive way and topped off with a thank you

How much more civilised can you get!

Here's to many more happy posts!

Agree0 Disagree0

For me, I'd say he may miss a few passes he maybe should have made, but the same is true of most players to be honest. In reality, Sturridge is still quite young (just turned 24) and is about the same age as the likes of Henderson, Allen, and Martin Kelly, so his overall game will only improve. I'd also add that he's only taken 10 shots in the league and scored 3 of those, so he hasn't exactly been overly wasteful or anything thus far.

Great discussion though!

I believe Sturridge's link up play with Suarez,
Continuo and Henderson in particular is superb. Up top they have a great understanding. Aspas is new, and Sturridge was injured for much of the pre-season - they both need time to adjust to each others runs and style of play.

I believe Sturridge does have a certain selfish streak, but it isn't too much to be troublesome to the team - the worst occasions where when he was too greedy trying to get a hatrick.

Just give the two a bit of time to get to know each other and things should probably improve.

Cheers Marshy

Hey eds, I was just wondering if you ever found out if there was real interest interest from Liverpool in Yarmolenko or in fact a bid was made which was reported towards the end of the transfer window? Thanks {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest.}

Hello Eds; thanks for the detailed previous reply; outside of the main players detailed in the press ie the Armenian, Willian and late on, the loan offer for Mata; was there any other high quality attacking players approached/sounded out by LFC?

Tks, Growler. {Ed002's Note - Not that I can think of - without someone leaving I can't see that there would be.}

Just watched the stunt Suarez pulled on Flores when Uruguay played Peru and I'd be glad to see the back of him at Liverpool. Hope he scores a hatful when he plays for us and brings in a healthy few million when he leaves but, despite backing him through the past couple of scandals, I've come to the conclusion that he is simply a cheat and a diver.
He has earned the boos from other teams' fans, he has earned the lack of sympathy from referees and he has earned the lukewarm interest from 'bigger' clubs. It has become embarrassing that he represents Liverpool FC and denies us any moral ground when criticising any unfair tactics other teams use to try and win games against us (eg. Valencia's dive last season vs Manu).
I'm sure in his mind he is simply passionate and eager to win but this is still a sport, not a war, and violence and cheating and an appalling lack of sportsmanship shouldn't belong in the game. All teams produce a bit of play-acting or the occasional nudge out of the referees eyesight but Suarez takes it to a whole new level.
I'll forever support my club and I'll be ecstatic when Suarez scores for us but I'm also looking forward to the day when we sell on one of the worst cheats in the game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree with you more, cozinoz. He's an absolute embarrassment and nothing would have made me happier in the window then if he moved off to somewhere other than here.

Now the build-up to the United game is going to be nothing but about Suarez. Forgotten will be the team that has served us so well during his latest ban and played so admirably as all eyes shift to the grade A cheat instead.

It's really quite sad as with his natural talent he could well have been one of the best in the game, but his numerous actions will serve to ruin whatever reputation and legacy in the game he might have had.

He was fouled twice for for that penalty, he was also fouled before the guy lost it and got a red card. Theatrical yes cheating no sorry, not on that occasion. Watch the game, watch the replays of everytime he got fouled.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmm he gets whacked a lot to be honest. tough tackles and all.
and then he dives and all. well its not entirely theatrical . he invites challenges in the box, and well as a attacker, they all go down under minimal contact.

as for peru's game if u watched the entire game u'd know that guy who got sent off was on suarez back entire game and then got sent off, there were tackles before he could have got a yellow for.
i won't call suarez a cheat, he fell down and left it to the refree . in both cases he didn't ask the refree for the decision, the refree gave it itself.
he didn't cry or make a scene for those decisions to be given.
and because of his image most defenders are likely to foul him and get away with it,

Agree0 Disagree0

Boys,
The season has started now.
Can you not can it, at least until the next transfer window opens?
There's some serious contradictions going on in both your posts.

Agree0 Disagree0

All this diving is pretty normal in those south american qualification tbh. If you could watch all the matches of qualification most of the players got caught diving. Even some of the Peru players also dived.

I think the penalty was fair as their was a contact and dangerous play. But the red card was unfair where suarez done a bit exaggeration and theatrics.

Agree0 Disagree0

25goals later for us be interesting what our views are I just hope he doesn't cause any atmosphere for us!

Agree0 Disagree0

It was the red card I was referring to not the penalty. It just reiterates his character to me. His cheating is premeditated and pathetic and he doesn't just do it in South American matches. Hopefully he will score 25+ goals for us this season but unless he changes his dirty tactics, ill be happy for him to move on next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

He s our best player

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty hard for someone to be our best player if they are sat in the stands watching.

Agree0 Disagree0

He misses 10 games due to suspension

most others miss it due to injury

suarez is our best footballler whether you like him or not

i can't wait to see him play again {Ed001's Note - no he is not, the best player at the club is still Gerrard, no matter what a few fanboys might think of Suarez.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He's missed ~13% of the league games he's been eligible to play in since coming to Liverpool due to bans.

Hi Eds and everyone
Can somebody please let me know how bad Glen Johnson's injury is? I read earlier he is out for 10 weeks, is that right?
Many thanks, YNWA {Ed001's Note - it is not certain yet, it takes a while before they can be sure exactly how long, but it is probably between 6-8 weeks.}
