Where are all the moaners?

Told you all along top four will happen.

Shower of clowns.

Good old DaveyBootle.

You can always rely on him to turn on his own fans.

'You'll never walk alone'. eh.

Holding the owners and/or management - even the players - accountable for their actions is one thing. But turning on your own fans is pretty despicable.

And he asks 'where are all the moaners'.

The irony.
lol.

I hope so Davey, I really do. We are certainly playing much better and getting some good results. Hopefully a fit Sturridge will give us a real boost. I personally would err on the side of caution based on two things; firstly, our improved league results in the last few weeks has mainly been against teams in the lower half of the table, so I would like to see more performances like last night against some of our top 4 rivals before getting too excited. Secondly, we haven't had too many midweek fixtures recently, but we've got Chelsea away next week and 2 games against Besiktas in the EL soon. We haven't so far done too well managing our performances with 3 games in a week. If we are still playing like last night in a month's time I think top 4 and a cup win is a great shout. Love your optimism!

Erm, I hate to break it to you mate, but that was a Cup game. Sheffield United are in the semi-final! Point being, league form and status counts for very little.

We played very well for sure. The result still basically puts us out though unless we can somehow overcome Chelsea at the fortress that is Stamford Bridge. I'll keep believing it's possible till the final whistle next week, but the realist in me is telling my heart to hope for the best and expect the worst.

Top 4 is a mathematical possibility. However assuming Southampton Continue their current form they are well on course to hit 70 points. Arsenal and United will probably hit 70 points as well. Therefore we need to take at least 40 points from our next 48 to have a realistic hope of finishing in the top 4. That is 13 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses from our next 16 games; a virtually identical run to what we managed on the back end of last season.

If we do that, Rodgers may have done enough to save us job. Even then though, what's to say he won't burn another £120m and revert back to his boring possession football without penetration and never give youth players proper chances? I want as much as any other LFC fan for Rodgers to save his job. With games still in both cups, and the Europa league though, we are really going to struggle to sustain a run required to finish 4th. That falls on Rodgers for being too stubborn to play a way that suited his players and on the transfer committee (which also includes Rodgers) for failing to fill glaring gaps in our squad and signing too many attacking midfielders and average strikers (although that is hindsight at it's finest, I know).

I would like to think that professional coaches and scouts would've picked up the issues most fans have known all season (dropping Johnson, telling the defenders and Mingolet to just get rid, playing Lucas, using Gerrard further forward, playing Can, dropping Mario for Borini etc) and others that we realised shortly into the season which they should've considered in the summer considering they're experts (signing players we didn't need, players who don't suit our style of play, loaning out players better than we signed etc).

It was a monumental balls up this season. Heads need to roll whether it is recovered to a respectable position or not. Whether or not Rodgers is one of those heads depends on what he does with the players at his disposal between now and the end of the season. He needs a miracle to get CL football though which basically means he needs a miracle to save his job because by all accounts, he promised FSG the title!

Are you looking at last year's table Davey. Sorry mate I really don't expect top 4, but a top 6 is very very likely

I am sorry, I missed our Top 4 parade. You are the clown here. By moaning about other people who are critical of the team, you yourself are a moaner and hence a hypocrite.

The season is far from over. Over the next month and a half, we play Southampton, West Ham, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs, and Burnley in the league. If I were you, I would have waited until things go well before starting the mocking.

Since when is top 4 guaranteed in January? Wise up.

EMS , could n't agree more with all your points

21 Jan 2015 12:25:54
We are building the type of form required to get into the top four. But we are also in a position now where current teams above us need to fail enough for us to get there. Confident we can overtake WH and Spurs, but not the rest

Still doubt we will get top 4 being honest, have a feeling it will be Chelsea, City, S'hampton, then either united or arsenal.

Don't think you can look at stats tbh as Arsenal and United's form could easily crash to a halt - united have been very lucky to win a lot of games and arsenal are like a bag of revels. added to that a few injuries could derail both teams (e.g. Sanchez for arsenal or de gea for united)

Main thing is if we can beat both them and go on a good run of games can get 4th - but imagine it will be 5th or 6th.

Biggest thing will be next summer - have a good squad just need to move the right players on and get the right ones in then could easily fight for the title next season.

Looks like the fickle brigade are out in force today. Draw one game in a mickey mouse cup at home despite creating enough chances to win two games and all of a sudden Rodgers is our saviour.

It's actually comical.

{Ed001's Note - but how many good, clear cut chances were there?}

Spot on AG, Roy and Kilbane. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets cheesed off by these fickle No.1 fans who come crawling back out the woodwork every time we have an above average game to call out people for having perspective.

We're 8th and just drew a cup game at home, with a team that played defensively and were happy for a draw. How does this have any baring on gaining the ground on points in the premiership?

Earth to EMS earth to EMS - come in EMS! Wake up and smell the coffee. We are back on track. Get behind your team and manager. It was always going to take time for new signings to settle! Even Sakho looks ace

{Ed001's Note - except Sakho was only locked out of the team because of Rodgers, when most of us wanted him in the team. I think it is you that needs to come down to earth mate.}

Good point Ed. To be honest, we didn't even create many clear cut chances. We needed a solo goal from a 20 year old to scrape a draw.

We are playing better, yes, but realistically there will be really tough matches ahead, and I just can't see us closing the gap and then cruising to a top four finish, as much as it annoys me considering how we should have easily walked top 3.

Haha, me come down to earth?! Jesus, this is embarassing. Our two most celebrated results this season have ben a 0-1 away loss to Real Madrid and a 1-1 home draw to Chelsea.

Shankley will be turning in his grave reading a thread like this.

I appreciate we are playing better at the moment but we're still 8th and 5 points off of 4th place with less than half a season to turn it around.

I actually cannot believe how many fans have agreed with DaveyBootles post.

Where the hell were all of you when we got stung 3-1 by Crystal Palace? I didn't see anybody saying we'd finish 4th then.

I hope we finish 4th but I'm being realistic mate. United and Southampton have no midweek games, Arsenal are experienced in coping with CL football and we have to play 3 games a week basically until we're knocked out of the Europa league. I'll have my fingers crossed mate but you, Davey and the other 20+ who think top 4 is guaranteed by a Draw in the capital one cup are just embarassing the rest of us. I really hope no United or Everton fans see this.

Very well written EMS. The last three paragraphs hit the nail on the head.

Just wanted to add Changemynappy, how are Pelle, Diafra Sakho, Enner Valencia, Fraser Forster, Diego Costa, Alexis Sanchez, Di Maria etc getting on?

Time to settle is a terrible excuse! Sakho has been here 18months (roughly) so I hardly think Rodgers deserves praise for finally integrating him into the team!

People keep saying we needed time for new signings to settle but hardly any of them have played until recently. We lost 3 players from last seasons team; Suarez and Sturridge&Flanno. Put Moreno in for Flanno and Borini and Lallana in for Suarez and Sturridge and just play exactly the same style! The team took ages to setlle because of Rodgers tinkering, and was very little to do with new players settling.

People need to take a step back.

We've beaten the likes of Sunderland, Villa, Swansea, Wimbledon and Bournemouth whilst drawing with Leicester and Chelsea. If you want to pop the cork on the Champagne, whatever but I'm not going to jump up and down like a school girl just yet thanks.

Cheers RedLenin. It's a shame the sensible words from Ed001, Real Ag, Bobatron, RedLenin, Seano, Licky Lambert, Kilbane, Rolandinho, Roy etc have fallen on death ears in the case of 33 anonymous/phantom agrees.

Unless Davey has been busy on the refresh button! I dunno what would be funnier to be honest; Davey being that sad, or 33 people genuinely believing we're guaranteed 4th place after a draw in a cup game :')

I think Mr Bootle is getting a little slap happy with the agree & disagrees on this thread.

Clearly someone with a lot of time on his hands to exploit the known loophole of the buttons.

I wonder if I can get to 50+ disagrees in record time? Davey? You about son?

I guess I'm just a 'fan' EMS. Through thick and thin.

EMS - At this point maybe you would prefer us to lose games to prove you are right about Rodgers? You remind me of a prejudiced old dear!

Please state what exactly you would want to happen in your perfect glass half full world?

I'm going to cheer the lads (inc. Brendan)on in the centenary in the meantime.

I support the club first, and the people at it second. If I believe that somebody at the club is damaging it, I will not blindly support them at any point other than matchdays.

When the whistle blows for kick off, I'm behind everybody in the ground hoping for a win. In between games, I'd rather be honest than paper over the cracks. That is your individual decision to make. If we were all like you though, Roy Hodgson would currently be helping us to avoid relegation; from the Championship!

7 pts we are off top 4.
Why can't we?

EMS - Please, please, please spare us the "Shankly will be turning in his grave" waffle. You stated in a previous post you started supporting Liverpool in 2005, so please, please do not provide a history lecture to Liverpool fans who have grown up with Liverpool in their blood, fans that cannot tell you the exact date on when they started supporting Liverpool, it's just always been Liverpool, nothing else.

I do like your posts man, but you got to get off the high horse, or apply for the managers job yourself.

And Davey - I'm with you, still think we'll be top 4.

Ok 7 pts off 3rd. Maths never my strong point (says the surveyor who uses maths everyday!)

Great post JimmyHustle, sums up what a lot of us feel and think, pal.

EMS, I enjoy your posts and you are partly right BUT you seem to be too caught up in some hype I cannot understand. The some of the players you mentioned like Forster ((came from a one-club league and is not a good GK but looks good in a defensive system tht doesn`t leave him exposed like Sczesny does at the Gunners YET we all know he is woeful), Pelle (who hasn`t scored in 10 games), Sahko (who none of us had heard of) and Di Maria (who is having a shocking season) are not the right examples (Pelle, Sakho for sure) to use because they play for teams who fly under the radar and would/could crumble under the pressure (as many have and will) of playing for a big club. I NEVER refer to other players from other clubs (especially smaller size clubs) because they don`t have to deal w/ the intense scrutiny our signings have to deal with. It`s not fair on the signings who found it difficult due to the team under-achieving and them being criticized. Just saying!

If it is indeed true that you`ve only been a fan since 2005 (10 yrs), then you prolly wanna save the Shankly referrls for yourself or thos much younger than yourself because you will look less of a smart ass to those like myself who have been fans for over 30 yrs (LFC was the first European club I ever knew and have been a supporter since I was 7 yrs old).

In 2005 I was eleven and I grew up with a dad who was a fisherman, an uncle who was a motorbike racer, a grandad who was a microlight plane enthusiast and the rest of the men in my family didn't even like a sport!

To be honest, I consider it far more impressive that without any pushy family members I turned to football and Chose Liverpool. Being born into a football loving family who support Liverpool 25 years sooner than me doesn't give anyone the right to imply that I don't know what I'm talking about.

I've probably watched more games on tape from the 70's and 80's than most fans who were alive at tge time. I've listened to Shankley and Paisley speak and I know that both would've been embarrassed with a 4th place finish.

I fail to see how I'm the one on my high horse. Davey is the one acting like a know it all and now plenty of you are pulling out the "I've been a fan longer" card. Hipocrisy at it's finest there. I've merely given a level headed opinion on our current league position and the likelihood of us finishing 4th.

Dude you have written several essays alienating anyone who disagree s with you. It s fine to have a strong opinion but please don't ram it down people throats. Like everyone on here some things we say hit the marke and other times we sound ridiculous. At the end of the day it's a bit of fun and know one really gives a toss when the posts become old. Enjoy the highs and don't over anaylise the lows.
