Hello to the EDS and fellow REDS
Let's hope the Eds publish this:
Great show by the boys, well done, very unlucky. Mignolet you were excellent tonight. What do the fans know. Get Sterling to sign new contract. We are on the up. I know we lost but we gave Chelsea a run for their money and our finishing let us down.
But there are too many positives to think about. Well done BR, you certainly know more than some of jokers that post on here, me included.
One more chance to Balo and that's it. The guy is in his own world. Buck up or adieu.
Well done the boys. Mourinho, BR is the MAN!
Sturridge back, good times to follow.
YNWA
{Ed001's Note - we lose and that means the manager is a genius? Really? So not having a finisher, due to the manger who rejected all the available options ending up in us buying Balo, is now unlucky, rather than just bad management? You really have bizarre ideas.}
We started a must win game without a striker upfront.
we have to play emre can at RB for no reason we have 3 RB at the club.
coutinho and sterling both have the same problem - they cannot finish off the chances they so often create, yet the manager eludes to the fact that they both cpould do with a striker to support them.
we take out the crossing and creating chances from our game, nor do we have any target man for the set pieces.
and we are still susceptible to all set pieces.
its a fact that we have a team that can outplay anybody but our team has three glaring niggles
1) no finishers ( more to not playing any striker)
2) set-piece defense mayhem
3) glen johnson
i mean once again how can BR even think about a starting lineup without a striker in a must win game. they had zouma and terry at CB, the only weakish link chelsea have and we had no striker to give them any trouble at all for 70 mins.
and then he spouts out rubbish in the post game interview, we were brilliant and all that. no we werent, we lost to a very cheaply conceded goal.
this was probably the only cup we could have managed this season and now chelsea will have a double this season. this was in all way a tragedy for me, this result
Rogers also said he didn't want balo himself
Hi ed001, can of worms I guess but did BR reject any strikers other than Remy last summer?
{Ed001's Note - there were a number of options presented to him which were rejected, no other got anything like as far as agreeing a deal though, unlike Remy. But yes, he could have had other strikers, or at least there could have been an attempt made to sign them which never happened because of him. Bony would be the obvious standout name.}
"Ed01{Ed001's Note - we lose and that means the manager is a genius? Really? So not having a finisher, due to the manger who rejected all the available options ending up in us buying Balo, is now unlucky, rather than just bad management? You really have bizarre ideas.}"
Ed001, I did use the search function but couldn't find a clear answer. The "available options" you mentioned, could you remind us which players these were? Thanks.
What was your take on the performance last night, do you think BR is learning 'anything' from his mistakes?
{Ed001's Note - Bony was very much an option, Swansea were willing to sell, the money was there, he was given to Rodgers as an option but rejected.
If Rodgers was learning, why did he put Hendo out to the right? Why was Johnson on the bench? Why did he then shift Lucas to the right as soon as it became obvious his legs were gone? There are so many things he needs to learn, I have given up hope of it happening.}

Bony would have cost double the money of Balotelli and frankly I don't think he would have been a good choice for our style of play. He is just a little better finisher than the 3 we have, let's see him in City(he will have a lot of help there).
There was no option in the summer that would have made the difference other than Sanchez and we all know it wasn't Rodgers fault for missing that player.
You have a vendetta against Rodgers, you are forgetting many things: a) Last year we were playing the best football I've seen us play the last 20 years. We overachieved. b) In his first years we were poor in the 1st half, one of the best teams in PL the 2nd half(in fact 2nd in points tally). That was quick for a team in transition. c) This year we lost Suarez, one of the 3 best players in the world and Strurridge our second best player. Our options in the transfer market were very limited as we also wanted depth to cope for CL so we couldn't buy a world class player and leave other positions aside. In the 1st half of the season due to the above and many other reasons(Rodgers also at fault) we were very very poor, unwatchable. But he turned it around rather quickly with actually NO striker. The team is again joy to watch in most of the last 10+ matches but we are playing catch up to poor start of the season. You also can't be seriously blaming him for losing to Chelsea in the cup.
It is obvious you have a desire to coach Liverpool and you think you are better than him, but a guy who believes Johnson should have started can't be seriously considering such things.
{Ed001's Note - actually he wouldn't have cost double and his wages and signing fee were much lower. It would have been a similar financial outlay for the club, except Bony is a far better player. Plus, he is absolutely suited for our style, I don't understand why you would say otherwise? He is big, quick, strong and likes to put opposition defenders under pressure. All the things we need.
I have no vendetta against anyone, I am just not blinded by a second place, just like I wasn't when Rafa and Ged got us second. You are too childish to see it as anything other than a vendetta, as you haven't the maturity to see things without emotion. Set that aside and then you will see my points are correct and you are, again, just like in your ignorant lack of analysis of Bony, wrong.
A) We did not over achieve at all. We reached the place we deserved due to the way we played. So why did we not stick to playing like that? I would suggest, though you obviously can't remove the blinkers and see it, that it would be the manager that is at fault for that.
B) How is that quick? Have you been too ignorant to watch Southampton this season as well as not bothering to watch Bony? Total crap. That is all that point is. There is absolutely no reason for it to take half a season.
C) They were not limited, Rodgers got the players he wanted, that is not limited, bar one, Sanchez. He chose not to target any other top players, instead to go for quantity. His choice, so he has to take the blame if it is not working out.
We have strikers, lots of them, but Rodgers won't play them, we ended the game with two on the pitch. So that is just a lie. Try and keep up and maybe you will be able to make points with sense instead of this mess.
Yes I can blame him for losing to Chelsea, he is in charge, it is his can to carry. He chose the players, he chose to buy those players, he picked the tactics etc etc. His fault if we are not able to capitalise on the chances we create.
Sorry but what kind of idiot thinks I want Johnson to start? Did I say that? I asked why he was on the bench, never asked why he was not in the team did I? As for a desire to coach Liverpool, of course I want to, what kind of idiotic comment is that? Is that meant to be an insult? If so you really need to rethink what you have to say. As for better than Rodgers, in some areas of the game I am. Analysis for instance, but coaching? No he is a better coach than me, without doubt. Management though, he is simply not good enough for us, and much as I would love to think I am, I doubt I would be either, but I am not being paid huge sums of money to do the job, so it is irrelevant whether I can manage better or not.}

Hi Eds

Thanks for the reply Ed001, forgot about Bony, and I still find the situation with regards Remi strange. He was goingti sign and then the last minute, BR throw's a spanner. I know there was something to do with a heart condition?, but he done alright playing elsewhere.
Btw, on another subject, with regards the full review taking place at LFC currently, does the review look at comments on established sites like this one to get a feel for what the fans think and feel? ( I know there are others, but this one is by far the best as its the most organised and has knowledgeable people, like yourself and Ed002 at the helm).
{Ed002's Note - There was no "heart condition" it was simply that BR decided he did not want him.}

hi eds
shall reput it then:
balotelli awful - gave away free kick for free kick and then didn't mark his man for goal. i think borini isn't much kop but would have been better than mario but personally i don't understand why llalana didn't come on, if he wanted to play lambert and sterling surely llalana's energy,pace,trickery would have been a far better substitution to bring on.

I watched Bony on several occasions and frankly I don't think he is quick. Also I don't think he would have given us more than 15 goals a season in the PL, any season. He is just a strong striker who has some eye for goal but nowhere near the top player we needed. Do you also believe Benteke would have suited us? Balotelli was a wrong choice also but as I said there were not many options for strikers out there that suited our pockets.
Also no it is not the managers fault that we needed depth. We needed most of the players we got par Manquillo and it was the right move to get those players and this is more obvious day by day. We were not in a position to buy just two top class players as Chelsea because we didn't have depth. Next year the right move will be to buy just two top class players.
As far as Southampton goes every now and then a team makes the headlines do you really think Koeman has what it takes to keep them there for years? I doubt it. Also they didn't lost a Suarez or Sturridge, they lost a Lallana and a Lambert and some kids.
Also about the 2nd place last year, whose style of play brought us there that you so say we played really well? Rodgers'! We came 2nd only because of the game with Chelsea. One mistake from an inexperienced manager, yet he gets no gratitude for taking you from the dumpster and bringing you back to your glories. Am I ignorant? No I think you are one of those spoiled glory hunter fans after all, who think the manager should be taking the title every year to remain at Liverpool.
About losing the Chelsea game, your comment is ridiculous. One team wins and it is about two giants. You can't blame a coach for losing to Chelsea. So by your thinking Mourinho would have been a crap manager if he lost yesterday. Losing our chances? Ask Chelsea about losing their chances. Is Mourinho at fault about that also?
{Ed001's Note - if you can't even see Bony is quick, how can you expect to be taken seriously? Bony is nothing like Benteke, Bony can play a number of different roles, Benteke is a target man only. Why are you even comparing them? Try watching them and actually seeing what they do.
We needed very few of the players we bought, they were bought for the future. Why did we need to buy them for the future when we needed players for now? You will have to explain that bizarre thinking, why we needed attacking midfielders when we had about 9 at the club already and ended up loaning out 2 to make space. Did we really need another centre back?
What has that ridiculous comment about Koeman's ability to keep Saints at the top for years got to do with it? You made the nonsense claim that it takes months to get a team playing, which clearly it does not as he got them up and running from the start. We didn't lose Studge, he got an injury, they lost their best striker for the whole season, so they can be compared as we bought their second best striker, their best attacking midfielder. They also lost their best left back and their main cover for right back/centre back, but didn't rake in over 80m to replace them.
Spoiled glory hunter? Are you really that stupid? You mean because I am not happy with coming second and then letting it all slide the following season, that makes me a spoiled glory hunter? Or could it be just that I expect my team to compete each season, as they should do when they spend 100m in the summer. Even the manager you are so intent on brown nosing said that, but he is unable to do so. By his own standards he is an utter failure this season and deserves the sack. I would have been happy to see us compete, I never expected the title this year but I am certainly not some sheep happy to accept miserable failure because the manager once failed a bit less miserably the season before. By the way, that crap about losing it because of the Chelsea game is just that, crap. We lost because our manager that you adore so much, was unable to stop himself reverting to the crappy pass pass pass across the backline football he started this season with. If he had started the season with a more attacking style we would have picked up more points in the first half of the season. We were almost completely out of the title race by the time he decided to go for it. That is why we failed, because of the manager that everyone is worshipping for almost rectifying his own failing.
Did I say he was crap for losing? Or did I say he has to accept the blame? Are you just making lies up in your head to try and make yourself feel better?}

Wow Ed002, no 'heart condition' that is interesting! Looks like the Press creating something out of nothing and everyone (almost everyone) believes it.
28 Jan 2015 19:49:59
Bony fast? We have different meaning to the word fast it seems. Fast: Sterling, Sturridge, Suarez etc etc. Bony is not fast.
Again you are completely failing to see the point. We were a club in transition after almost going bankrupt. The years before Rodgers we were unwatchable, even if we went to two cup finals. Our team was mostly unworthy of even comparing to the top teams. Then we had to compete more than 3 teams.
Enter Rodgers who made us play beautiful football yet you bash him like he is the worst of the kind. In his first season he made bad signings and I will say it once more. At the time we needed only two top class players instead of the crap he bought on the summer. We bought them in the January and he got us kicking. You expect to win the PL when you have against you 5 big teams that spend much more than you(NET) and they had readymade teams?? We were on a building face and withing a year he got us challenging. And you bash him??? And you demand from him to win it after 2, 3, 4 or even 5 years?? Yes you are a spoiled glory hunter.
Liverpool had the best chanced last year, we overachieved because we didn't play CL. It was Rodgers that made us overachieve.
What I blame Rodgers is his pathetic first half of this season and some his failed signings. I don't blame him for buying Lallana, Markovic or even Balotelli. Obviously Alberto and Aspas were nowhere near good enough for Liverpool so we needed to replace them. I don't care about losing Suso because we have better players there.
And as far as yesterday's game we both had from one half. If it hadn't been for Sakho's injury I don't believe we were going to lose so I don't see why Rodgers is to be blamed for losing to Chelsea 1-0 in extra time in Stamford Bridge. Because it is ridiculous to blame a coach for doing that. In fact he gets my applause for having the team play better than Chelsea overall, even if we lost at the end due to circumstances.
Ed001, you said, "If Rodgers was learning, why did he put Hendo out to the right? Why was Johnson on the bench? Why did he then shift Lucas to the right as soon as it became obvious his legs were gone? There are so many things he needs to learn, I have given up hope of it happening"
I hope that whoever is part of conducting the review has taken full notes of the fact he is not learn't from any mistakes he's made whatsoever. I know some people that still believe Brendan is the best thing Liverpool FC have since sliced bread, despite everything that has happened, and some feel that the summer purchases were all excellent.
{Ed001's Note - I would hope it was obvious how the same mistakes are being repeated again and again but judging by the support he enjoys here, it doesn't seem to be.}
