Gerrard heaps praise on Rogers is a second interview saying he wish he had been manager years ago so he could have won some leagues work him
Gerrard has every faith in him so why don't us fans ?? He clearly meant it why else would he said it

{Ed001's Note - you mean he praised his current manager? Wow great. It was only a few weeks ago he was saying Rafa was the best manager he had ever worked with. So what changed? What does it matter what Gerrard thinks anyway? How many great managers has he ever actually worked with? Simple, none, ever. Not with England and not with us. Rodgers might potentially grow to become one, maybe, but he certainly isn't ready yet and he should be doing his learning elsewhere to put into practice with us.}

Agree4 Disagree2

I had a feeling you would say that ed but Gerrard could have simply not have said what he said as the interview was about his last game v Everton I mean he gave him great credit . Also FSG took Rogers on as a young experienced manager how else can he

{Ed001's Note - I have never blamed Rodgers for that, it was a major error by them. Not the worst error, they could have hired Roberto Martinez and we would be in a relegation battle by now, but still a mistake. As for what Gerrard says, I would rather listen to someone, anyone, else, than waste my time listening to him. He has no perspective, like I said he has never worked with a great manager to compare him to. Plus he is desperate for a place in the team, so he is hardly going to say anything other than how great the man who picks that team is. Especially as he, like all football players, are contractually obliged to say nothing derogatory about the club and its employees. So he is not in a position to say anything else.

Rodgers is an excellent coach, I don't think anyone could deny that, you can see that in the improvement players make working with him. It is management he doesn't understand, and his refusal to have a DoF to guide him in those aspects has cost us badly. That was his arrogance, so that is something he has to take a huge part of the blame for. There was absolutely no need for us to suffer while he learnt the aspects he lacked, but he refused to consider any other option. Dalglish had Bob Paisley guiding him when he first became player-manager, not making the decisions, just pointing him in the right direction. Why does Rodgers think he is so special he doesn't need it? Everyone needs help. About time he realised that doesn't make him less of a manager to accept the help he needs, it makes him a better manager. It is delegation.}

Be learning ed001 you just want him out that is fine but you have to let young managers grow I mean what manager would love this young squad with Rogers signing next season we can really push on with can Coutinho ect all improving every week

{Ed001's Note - I would prefer him to accept the help he needs willingly, than to get rid. So please will people stop this crap about me wanting him out. I just don't want him dragging the club completely out of contention forever with his inability to manage. I want him to do what he is best at, coaching, not trying to do something completely out of his skill set, management. No more buying young players, we should coach youth players through from the academy and only buy one or two ready made players to slot into the first team.}

Although he wasn't a success with England, Capello has the record of a stellar manager.

{Ed001's Note - he is not a great manager though by any stretch of the imagination. Players will talk up any one they like as people, that is why so many players rave about Redknapp as a manager, despite him being crap. Players are not to be listened to in this area, they just want someone to let them eat chips and go out on the lash at night. Someone who covers up their assaults, sexual antics on holidays etc. They don't care about anything else. The boss you like is very rarely the boss you need.}

Dezyboy, I think it´s hard for BR to become a better manager if he doesn´t accept that he has flaws, because he will continuously make the same mistakes. I would like to point out a few things that will highlight his inability:
1. He has his favourite players, and he will pick them instead of other players who are better (Johnson, Allen and Gerrard to some degree). Players like Sakho, Lovren, Downing, Sahin, Balotelli and Carroll have all been treated badly.
2. His inability to shut up. If he gets sacked in the summer I think it will be partly because he said he would win us the league
3. For most of the season he has played possesion based football, with a lot of passes and no end product (he went back to the same tactics as first season)
4. A single transfer window has been a success during his spell, and he has spent between 200-300m £. Most of them have been spent on players we didn´t need or players that weren´t good enough.
5. Champions league was a disaster

I could write more points, but I think I´ve made my point clear. Despite of these issues I would still like to keep him, because he knows how to get the best out of the players.
I also think a DOF would solve some of these issues, as he would replace the transfer committee. He could also have influence on line ups, and which youngster from the academy should get a chance. Overall he would take of a some pressure from Brendan, so his main focus is coaching, which he is great at.

Downing wasnt treated badly Sakho has improved immensely balo was shocking before he came so hard to agree there
Champions league was a disaster but so was the league then we were lost due to Sturrdige been out now we have our bearings

Feels like dejavu this post, haven't we gone through Gerrards comments praising BR before?

One thing I'm not sure I agree with, doubt Ed care either, but Gerrard has worked with some great managers. You can't have the CVs of Rafa and Capello then not be classed as great surely? Winning titles in the top leagues of Europe and European cups, let alone some of the players they brought from nowhere to household names must count for something.

{Ed002's Note - Gerrard is far from the brightest, a few drops short of a full optic if you will.}

Downing has said that BR wanted him to stay at LFC, and afterwards he was sold?
Sakho, might never have gotten a game again if it wasn´t for injuries.
Balotelli was lazy, as it has been reported several times, so I don't get why BR would state that he doesn´t fit in the team?
As I said in my previous post, BR has spent a lot of money, and Sturridge being out injured is not an acceptable reason for our poor display. He has had his chance to buy a great striker, as it was clear that Suarez would leave.

Gerrard aside. How many truly great Managers are out there? Klopp? Maybe until he makes a balls of his next team, who else? Nose and whiskey nose, granted. After that I think there's a lot operating at a very high level.
My point is, rafa could be considered in this bracket. Especially in 2005.

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, Rafa hasn't won enough on a regular basis to be considered as great. Good, yes, but greatness is a whole other level.}

I was one of those calling for Rodgers head.

I think we need to be careful though, as a new manager could mean loads more changes.

{Ed002's Note - So would you want continued mediocrity Lavers? Or is it time to cut the worm from the apple?}

======================

It will depend if the new manager is of better calibre . Sacking Rodgers than hiring another experiment is a very expensive way to run the club.

It depends ed.

If Rodgers was to do what his idea of playing is at the start of next season like he did this season then get rid.

But if Rodgers excepts that, that style of play doesn't work like he does every Xmas then maybe let him stay.

Most of his signings last summer are starting to look good, obviously balotelli doesn't but I thought Rodgers first choice was bony, but the board wouldn't pay the 20mil.

If his arrogance doesn't stop him from seeing his mistakes then maybe he'll be fine.

Steven Gerrard.

Great player - but he strikes me as a bit of a dumbass.

Why the hell should I care what he thinks or says??

I'd rather listen to the opinions of intelligent people than lap up bland PR nonsense like a braindead fanboy.

I'm not convinced of sterling as striker.
