Ed001 has given his opinion on the pros and cons of Rodgers both as coach and manager, the majority of it making a lot of sense.

Personally I think it'll be fascinating to see how things pan out over the rest of the season and the summer, particularly in terms of the coaching/DOF/management structure.

I wonder if the constant reviews (quite right too) mean Rodgers has really had his day, or will he be able to manoeuvre into a position where he accepts a DOF and stays. Interesting.

Thanks, as always, to the Eds, for all your hard work.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with a DoF.}

Brendon Rogers will be our manager next season and rightly so

{Ed002's Note - He has failed miserably - and that is absolutely clear to everyone.}

So with that in mind, would you be inclined to think that he'll leave at the end of the season?

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

Balotelli was a terrible signing, We were woeful and the CL was embarrising, but if we can get 3rd place and a cup which is not beyond us, Then I would not say he has failed COMPLETELY.

07 Feb 2015 15:33:06
Eds how's he failed miserably the aim for last season was to make champions league which he did and where still in contention again this year I know he said he will win us the tittle but it takes time and we don't have the spending power as others

{Ed001's Note - he promised the title, he is not even in contention, so he has failed miserably to even make a fight of it.}

07 Feb 2015 15:40:58
Sorry Ed, but Rodger has not failed miserably. Not to me, and many other Liverpool supporters.

{Ed001's Note - more fool you.}

07 Feb 2015 15:55:13
Ed002 you are simply wrong in my opinion although I respect yours and agree with you say most of the time on this occasion I dont.
Rogers has done a good job, we overachieved last season and lost one of the best players around in the summer. Along with injuries that has rocked us.
We are playing good football and have a far better squad that previous seasons. Next season we will be strong, Markovic, Lallana, Can, Sakho all looking like good signing now they are settling, and don't forget our squad is incredibly young. Sad to see stevie go but building for the future is key, next year the swaud will be a year older and better for that. Migs seems to be doing quite well and may yet turn good

{Ed002's Note - Rodgers has done a dreadful job since he arrived. He has pissed away enormous sums of money and the club has achieved nothing but CL qualification for this season - and then that was completely screwed up. If the owners want to continue with such progress, then they have their man.}

More fool the owners for actually believing him.

Cleggy , you say we don't have the spending power of others , how about £120m in one summer , isn't that enough spending power ?

Anyway , it doesn't matter what anyone thinks , if we don't get top four it's bye bye Brendan , we have American business-men owners don't forget !

07 Feb 2015 17:03:27
judge him when he leaves.

The main concern for me was how we fought so hard last season to get into the CL only to fail miserably on the big stage. It was embarrassing. I put this down to 2 things. The transfer committee and Rodgers inexperience at the top level.

If we had bought top quality players in the summer transfer window we would have been better prepared to cope with the increased fixtures and injury problems. Instead we found ourselves with Sturridge injured and no one good enough to step in and take over. Also, Rodgers couldn't handle the increased fixtures and struggled to rotate his squad effectively and we were quite frankly awful.

Is Rodgers good enough to take us forward? I'd say yes for now. He was always going to struggle in unknown territory, but it's about how he learns from it and how he uses that experience for future benefit.

As for the title challenge. I don't think anyone really expected that. A top 4 finish was always the most realistic target. Also I'd be grateful ed if you could provide a quote or a link referring to Rodgers promise of a title challenge. Just for personal interest.

Yes we spent 100plus but how much did he bring in aswell as losing are best player but to say he's done a dreadful job is harsh he hasn't won the league yet but it takes time it took fergie 6years to do at united it doesn't work choping managers all the time . We play great football under him and where improving each game

{Ed002's Note - The bottom line is that the owners want success on and off the field. Off the field the club are doing well with their commercial push. On the field the club has massively overspent since the owners arrived accounting for the very significant debt the club finds itself in. Given the permission to spend in the summer on the basis of achieving success with a challenge for the titles in the Premier League and Champions League has failed miserably.}

We might have spent £120m but had to sell the best player in the league to do this, now if we could have kept Suarez and spent the money on top of that you might have a point, although Pipco, Studge and Can will be worth £120m in a year or two anyway.

{Ed002's Note - Suarez did not want to play for Liverpool and did everything he could, including threatening to take the club to court to get out.}

{Ed002's Note - He has failed miserably - and that is absolutely clear to everyone.}
=======================
Not sure if its clear to everyone, I mean if Suarez stayed we could be fighting for the title and everyone will be singing Brendan's praises, and before you tell me Suarez gone, move on; I have but unfortunately the club have n't by not replacing him, and this is down to the fabulous committee, you tell me Brendan have the final say, and logic tells me he must have had to compromise else what's the point of the committee. I won't loose sleep when he is sacked in the summer, but not so optimistic his replacement will be much better. I think the worm you referred to in a different post is positioned one level above BR

{Ed002's Note - Why is so difficult to grasp how much Suarez wanted to leave the club - you are just continuing to live in the past. Face up to the situation as it is now.}

07 Feb 2015 17:24:33
Ed002 is spot on, BR Has failed miserably.

If the owners want success on and off the pitch then they need to stop making balls ups in the first place. It seems to me tjat every one below the owners are open to severe critism but the owner receive a slap on the wrist for their many mistakes.

07 Feb 2015 18:32:28
Is net spend this summer was about 40million it's not easy to catch the top 2 look at united they spent big and still nowhere near

Cleggy1983, you want to talk about net spend when Rodgers paid out almost £120m for 9 players this season? FFS how many more players did you want him to sign to make an excuse about net spend?

07 Feb 2015 20:08:05
Eds please do us a favor and start commenting about how you played Football Manager. It seems you are living in a fantasy world.
We have City, Chelsea and United who are buying whoever they want and I'm not talking just the last 2 years Rodgers was here, I'm talking like the last 5 years. Really what planet are you living in? We haven't won the PL the last 20+ and you expect from a new manager to win it in his first 2, 3 or even 6 years?
Maybe you can both cherry pick the manager of your liking in the Football Manager. Good luck there.

{Ed001's Note - are you really this much of an imbecile or is it an act? Try not to comment on things you clearly don't understand. Go back to your fantasy world where Rodgers is a great manager and not failing to keep his own promises.}

Read my post again, I have moved on, the difference between last season when Brendan was Manager of the year and this season is Suarez, he is gone; so the committee should've replaced him with similar ilk . Thus the failure this season is collective committee fault not just Brendan
