Hi eds I'm thinking if skipping training tomorrow so I've come to bother you. What's the worst excuses you've heard for someone missing a training session? These can be you, your mates or some geezer. The best I heard was a bloke who said he couldn't come because his shorts were in the dryer!!!

{Ed002's Note - I have never needed to train - I guess others will have some stories.}

I'd had a row with a team mate(captain), he threatened me and said he'd "smash my head off my shoulders" so I phoned the boss and said I couldn't come in because my head fell off, and to ask the captain what that meant. then hung up lol.

I've been blessed with the opportunity to train players who don't like to skip, they hate it. But, the most pathetic one was that he had to do homework and if he came to practice, he wouldn't be able to get to bed at his normal time.

{Ed007's Note - I hope Welsh Red isn't expecting to be in the team at the weekend, if you miss training you lose your place and need to work extra hard to win it back.}

Barring unforseen circumstances, I never missed training. I love to play so much that I was disappointed each time I had to miss a session.

I usually just told the truth when I wanted to skip training - I pay my dues and didn't want to come today. Then again I'm fairly awful and only ever get in the team as a last choice sub to take on overly physical/violent opposition (football and rugby actually) so no-one really cared

Never missed training for the school, Sunday league or Doncaster boys(obviously I didn't make it) in from school straight out even when it was raining cats and dogs but did when I played in men's league pub stuff.

I had one where I came back from a holiday and rang the manager saying I couldn't make it (the night I was back) as I'd broken my nose and wrist. got a text off one of the lads saying how the manager was sagging me for being too tired after a holiday to train except what I said was true so seeing him at the match on the weekend I'll never forget he was quite apologetic.
All good fun as I was quite lazy.
And no I didn't punch myself in the face to cause both injuries ha! They were both completely unrelated on what was a odd holiday!
