Our mid-table league position from August to December was a direct reflection of our form. Equally, if we can maintain this excellent run from January to May, I see no reason why we can't occupy one of Champions League places.

Conversely, Utd's league position does not reflect their form. Obviously, this could go either way for them; they either buck their ideas up and become worthy of being in the top 4 or, hopefully, the league will find them out and they'll settle in a lower position more befitting their form.

The other factor that may tip the scales in our favour is last year's experience. After the massive disappointment the players must have felt, I think they all know that great results over your direct rivals (Spurs, Southampton, City) MUST be followed up with wins over the lower placed teams, meaning EVERY game now is the decider.

So you're saying now we are two points off top 4 we have a chance of top 4 and it will all depend on our results vs other teams. All new news.

05 Mar 2015 13:40:56
Well said pompeyred.

05 Mar 2015 14:37:21
What I'm saying is that our league position is wholly justified whereas Utd's is over inflated. I'm also saying I have faith in the EPL that over 38 games, poor form will find you out eventually. Unless they have a sea change in their way of playing they will start to slide down the league. If they hadn't got lucky last night in the last minute we'd already be on equal points. They must be feeling the pressure now, whereas we appear to be relishing every game.

Seriously what a load of old tosh u speak, u think somehow u deserve top 4 because what? U have finally got your arses into gear after 3-4 months of crisis?
We have been in or around that top 4 for months now ahead of arsenal and Southampton at different points, u have just overtook spurs and Southampton!

these posts are why when u fail the comedy value is amazing! U get well ahead of yourselves and fall on your arses, from the league champions t-shirts last season to the 'next year will be our year' stuff each April.

Gd luck.

{Ed002's Note - Have Liverpool been in the top four this season?}

05 Mar 2015 17:31:37
At least we got our arses into gear, a little too soon you will find out when we go past you. Enjoy it while it lasts.

05 Mar 2015 17:51:22
Its where you finish that's important. I don't think you get a CL spot mid season.

05 Mar 2015 18:01:04
Because, if we continue as we have been playing, over the full 38 game season we'll have produced better performances than you and have more points.

You lot don't seem too happy this year although you been getting the results. From the outside it strikes me like you got a few mercenaries in the squad, whereas I'm starting to feel like our players actually f@&cking care - and that feels good.

05 Mar 2015 18:13:18
Wow ctrs posts have quickly returned to sound bitter

05 Mar 2015 19:11:35
By the way some are talking ed I wouldn't put a push for the title beyond them, how long is it before we get the "Chelsea might be champions but I'd much rather play with style" crap they normally wheel out.

Funny how last season it was one of the most competitive leagues for years and this season it's full of deadwood teams.

Welcome back to our page AL too, always knew Liverpool were only a few wins away from u resurfacing from your prelonged exile :)

05 Mar 2015 20:11:18
Your asking for trouble goading united fans to be honest given their form, regardless of them looking poor in many matches. I will love it if we do beat them to a top 4 spot but let's just be cool and professional until the match on the 22nd is done and dusted, hopefully we show why were the better football team currently.

05 Mar 2015 19:57:39
Chris, you wind up. No one is suggesting we're anywhere near winning the title but there is a togetherness and some great performances now that make me think we have a great shot at the top 4.

You're having a season of transformation like us and no doubt you'll put up a hell of a fight - but your form ain't as great as your results and eventually I think you'll slide away.

I got no problem with losing out to better teams but I got serious reservations about whether that includes your lot. x

05 Mar 2015 20:35:07
Chris is cracking under the pressure, time to get the stats out me thinks.

05 Mar 2015 21:24:11
North - we don't HAVE to live in their shadow anymore. Sod 'em. Everything changes given time - how many players have we got on £200+k a week? How well are we playing as a team? They got 11 players and 5 subs, so have we. Let's have it right - best team wins. I for one no longer fear Utd.

05 Mar 2015 21:36:38
I'll give you 1 stat folks.

United have more dodgy decisions in the league than any other team.

05 Mar 2015 23:06:09
If you want something done, you do it yourself. Come the 22nd of March, all talk will be over and both teams and sets of fans will have nowhere to hide and all will be settled. N BTW, the best team NEVER wins as far as Utd are concerned this season.

05 Mar 2015 23:35:17
Lol lavers, ia that an official stat or more conspiracy theories from LFC?

Pop, I don't for a second think u live in our shadow, your a huge club with very very good history, not to much recent like but still it's there. But don't for a second think your anywhere near bigger than us mate. :)

your a very confident team atm, but that's what u are, a confidence based team. Few bad results will have u going again.

If anyone thinks our game will be the deciding factor in top 4 race (which is sad to say anyway) is wrong. It's a big day in the race, but a decider? No!

good luck.

05 Mar 2015 23:40:27
Chris in all seriousness, what do you think of your team this season? Yous seem to be getting the results mostly but the play must be frustrating (i'm a pool fan in a family of utd fans btw lol) - personally as most here would agree, our form was awful at the start of the season, no pressing etc but we are playing some decent stuff at times (Besiktas apart), scoring goals again and keeping clean sheets - the league this year though does seem to be competitive in that everybody beats everybody, which is why only really Chelsea look like pulling away - and, more importantly, hows the wee one getting on?

06 Mar 2015 00:14:25
I'm cool with it these days - game on.

You don't scare no-one.

06 Mar 2015 02:21:43
sorry, CTR, the league was definitely not competitive last season, which is why we should have won, and not get second. But United were part of the reason why it was not competitive last season.

06 Mar 2015 07:06:31
Swally, hello mate. Wot do I think of us? I'd be lying if I said I'm happy with some of the performances mate. Results I can't really be 2 upset bout.

I do think we are improving though.

Little man is doing great thanks mate, walking now which is a nightmare lol and keeping me awake a lot but he's doing great. Thanks for asking mate.

I live in a house full of utd fans. What happened mate?

06 Mar 2015 08:36:52
Oh how childish you all sound. One poorly conceived post from chris and you're at him likra pack of dogs. Really easily wound up this lot. I don't like arsenal but at least people on their page can dish out proper banter

06 Mar 2015 13:12:14
That's up for debate reet lol, no I like a few of there guys, there good value. Unfortunately some on there won't have a bad word mentioned about arsenal and this results to insults and an inability to take banter as what it is.
I won't be bantering with them for a while. But honestly there is one that think coq is better than matic because the stats say so totally forgetting the fact Matic has played about 25 games more, but hey it's his opinion I guess.

Skrtel has been playing well because e at the back suits him. When i say it suits him i mean he can run round like a headless chicken and win headers and move around more without being caught out of position as there are always two other centre backs covering for him. He has balance in the back three as he doesn't need to think about what he is doing, he just goes and wins the ball, which he can do very well. However, in a standard systemwith two centre backs, he has to work in tandem with his partner and think about what he is doing, which he is completely incapable of. So if 3 at the back ismour long term solution, he can stay. If it isnt, he must go, as he is too much of a liability otherwise.
