Glad UTD got 3 points and are now 5 points ahead of us?

Worst part is that they have been rubbish all season yet are getting the results to stay in the top 4.They will have to lose two matches in order for us to get ahead and then we will need to make sure we do not drop more points than them so us beating them is a must. Plus they have a superior goal difference.

15 Mar 2015 19:22:34
No disrespect Mario but you need to be fully focused on tomorrow or face two must win games against us and utd.
The head to heads will be important of course but those who keep nicking 3pts in their other games earn the breathing space that all will need at some point.
Its 3 from 4 now with city dropping into things and the Swansea game is every bit as important for you as the utd game in CL terms at least.

15 Mar 2015 19:39:26
Exactly, Gunner! We have to take care of business because we are in control of our destiny. Let`s focus on tmrw`s game and cross the Utd bridge when we get there.

15 Mar 2015 19:52:18
Max can u count? Utd don't need to lose twice at all! If we win tomorrow our game in hand, then beat them the following week we will be 1 point ahead. Math mustn't be taught in your school? Think before you speak kid

15 Mar 2015 20:06:30
knuckles. Do you believe if they had to lose against us and then being 1 point ahead of them is going to suffice when we still will have Arsenal and Chelsea to play away from home?

So yes I can count so maybe it is you who needs to use your brain instead of your backside when you reply to other peoples comments.

15 Mar 2015 20:12:30
max untd's upcoming fixtures aren't easy TBF

15 Mar 2015 20:26:58
And max have you seen there fixtures over the coming weeks? A guess not! it is in our hands at the moment no utds as you suggested it was. Work it out properly or think before you speak that's all am saying

15 Mar 2015 20:50:26
knuckles, what do I have to go work out properly?

United have 56 points with 27 to play for.

LFC have 51 points with 30 to play for.

They are in the driving seat. It is simple.

We have Arsenal and Chelsea away. UTD have Chelsea away and Arsenal at home. City at home too who have just been beaten by Burnley and are in terrible form. We have 4 home games left and 6 away. They have 4 home games left and 5 away.

Oh and by the way, I am not speaking, I am typing.

15 Mar 2015 20:53:04
No disrespect gunner but I don't need to be focused on anything, I'm not playing. All I'm saying is if Spurs had won they would be looking to bounce back. It will work more in our favour than them loosing.

15 Mar 2015 21:10:49
Knuckles, How is it not in utds hands? That is really bad logic you are applying there. How can a team above you on points not have it in their hands?
When you say 'its in our hands' it implies you do not need to rely on other results. So using that logic if utd win their games it certainly IS in their hands isn't it.

15 Mar 2015 21:24:24
And max who is the in form team? As a red fan a much prefer to think from a Liverpool point of view, period!. A pay good money to go watch games, and it certainly isn't to think utd this utd that, like you. It'd have a tougher run in than us, simples.

15 Mar 2015 21:27:36
Mario,
Really disagree with your post. Our (United's) main problem all season has been our managers insistence on playing negatively and with slow build up. Now that he has seen us dismantle spurs with a high tempo game he will surely play it against ye too. We will be high on confidence . I would be worried

15 Mar 2015 21:32:11
Lastsanemanalive and if we win all ours we finish above them don't we? We are the inform team are we not. If your love for utd Is that much your supporting the wrong team, neither team need others to do there work as they play each other. But I am a Liverpool fan, there for believe and support in my team before thinking of others.

15 Mar 2015 21:47:42
Muire- if you think that Utd did that to Spurs and not the fact Spurs where worse than awful then your deluded. Spurs didn't show up.

15 Mar 2015 22:48:00
Fair enough Mario but personally I'd rathger play a united that had just lost its last two and was a point behind us than a buoyant utd 2pts ahead (if you beat Swansea) or worse still a utd that came to us looking to maintain a 5 point gap (if you lose tomorrow) or open up an 8pts gap that would virtually end our CL hopes.
To each there own I guess mate but the race for champions league football is much more important to Liverpools long term future than a 2 game rivalry.

15 Mar 2015 22:59:29
Supermario - by definition an LFC fan cannot be glad that United won, ever (well unless they beat our main rival for winning the PL last game of the season maybe, that's the only exception). There should be some software here that delete such a phrase automatically as some kind of typo.

Specifically I cannpt see how their win today helps us. It will boost their confidence and take a bit of the pressure of them. I am sure they will not be complacent - ManU are never complacent when they come to play at Enfield. At the moment united are in the driver seat for tp 4 compare to us, no way around it. If we win tomorrow and next week this may change, definitley if we win these two games and then go and beat Arsenal. These will be three very very tough games though.

The only bonus from the game today is that Spurs style is not that different to us - they try to put pressure on the defenders in order to intercept the ball but do not have a lot of possesion in midfield and don't park the buss there but let the opposition some space to run with the ball. We saw today that this can be costly against ManU 9albeit that spurs were awful today, including their keeper that this season his level droped masively). I hope BR and his team have a plan how to reduce the frequency of them coming forward. But let's see how we handle the Swans first.

15 Mar 2015 23:43:13
To clarify my last point - becuase sSurs style is not that different to us - and we saw how United basiclaly ran through them, we shoudl be able to use the time left until we meet them to learn from Spurs' mistakes rather than be surprised on the day if united play the same.

16 Mar 2015 01:14:36
Fano, you are right. I saw the game and if Spurs had played Utd the same way they played us at Anfield then they would never have lost today. This game reminds me of our game vs Utd at OT. Spurs lpretty much gave Utd the whip to get beaten with. That is, like us, they allowed Utd to walk all over them and beat them handily w/o them even breaking a sweat. All those goals could have been avoided had the Spurs players just showed some backbone and took charge of the situation. All we have to do is play with the exact same approach as the City game and like you said, avoid the same mistakes we made in the OT game and we'll be fine. I have no doubt in my mind that we will defo b up for the game and if we show up ready for a battle, unlike spurs who sleepwalked thru today's game, they will find it very difficult at Anfield because they will not have the space and latitude Spurs allowed them to have today.

16 Mar 2015 07:00:05
Spurs could not deal with Fellaini.
That is why they lost.

16 Mar 2015 08:20:02
One of the longest threads I've seen for a while :)

16 Mar 2015 09:39:01
United played well, spurs didn't. We need to be on our mettle otherwise they could do the same to us.

Don't think they will though.

I'm glad they turned it on yesterday because people on here thought it was going to be a stroll in the park next week. Best to be aware of what they can achieve than be ambushed like spurs were. No excuses now. .

16 Mar 2015 10:14:10
Spurs midfield was awful we couldn't be that bad and their forward line didn't cause much problems either we couldn't be that bad against them but they r a very lucky team that's what I'm worried about.

16 Mar 2015 11:33:02
Any defence that allowed themselves to be out paced by Fellianii deserves to lose. He has the turning circle of the titanic and probably hasn't scored a goal like that since his schooldays.

16 Mar 2015 23:12:51
Exactly, Swish! If you allow Fellaini to outrun you and for Rooney to just stoll past your backline w/o even a whif of a tacle, you deserve the beating you get.
