hi eds. with liverpool wanting fast attacks, and high pressing. do you think if we had gone for a new stadium, it would have been a benefit to have installed a maximum size pitch. it would have helped when teams try and park the bus. what size is Anfield please. many thanks.

{Ed001's Note - all pitches have to be the same size in the Prem now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

And no plastic pitches either was it Luton and qpr ed had them.

{Ed002's Note - Preston and Oldham as well. They are allowed in Scotland where there are quite a few.}

Sorry Ed001 you are incorrect premiership pitches are not all the same size nor are they required to be

{Ed002's Note - Chris - the EPL now require pitches to 105m x 68m as standard but accept that logistically not all clubs can achieve that - and those that cannot achieve it have to make such a declaration on Form 8 and have it agreed by the EPL Board.}

Makes sense to have them in Scotland with their weather extremities, unnecessary in the UK

{Ed002's Note - I think you will find Scotland is part of the UK.}

Spoke to the FA today to clarify this and it is not the case according to them

{Ed002's Note - Sorry Chris - I am not sure why you spoke to the FA but whoever you spoke to was wrong. Tell him to read the Premier League Handbook for 2014/15 and refer him to Rules K15 and K16. Then ask him to apologise.}

I have argued with several people lately that the premier league pitches are required to be a standard size. Many people I have argued with have insisted that I was wrong so after reading Ed001 again today insist that it is the case I thought a call to the FA to settle it was in order.
Their answer was "we do ask clubs to try to be consistent but only within certain parameters, there is no set pitch size"
To be honest I really shouldn't be surprised that someone at the FA doesn't know what they're talking about. In fact when you think about it it's probably a prerequisite

{Ed002's Note - Thing is Chris, it is nothing to do with the FA. It is in the reference I gave you which I am certain is the public domain. With you disbelieving friends, get some new chums.}

Youre probably right Ed

Chris, if you're still sceptical (and I can sense a "harrumph" in your typing, then Google "Premier League Handbook 2014/15 Rule K15" and you can red for yourself. Link is below, but not sure it will get through.

Its quite clear in the rules that Ed002 has directed you to.

Perhaps your friend is either referring to other divisions other than the Premier League, or his information is out of date as this rule may be more recent.

{Ed001's Note - the rule came in either this season or last, I forget which.}

I meant the rest of the UK

{Ed002's Note - I understand, England, Wales and Canada.}

Chris! You rang the FA? You have way too much time on your hands! Get a hobbie mate!
