So Brendan says Sterling wants 150k a week.
Sorry but he isn't worth anwhere near that figure. Still has a lot to learn and a lot of development is still required for him to become a top player.
Cash in on him and move on there is plenty out there that can fill his boots.

Que the we love sterling he will be world class better than than ronaldo give him whatever money he wants brigade.

Sell him.

I honestly believe he wants to stay, but I fear at some time he will peak too soon like Owen.

Anyway, his game is suited to our style, and like many others, when he does leave (which he will eventually, regardless of him potentially signing his contract), then he may just be found out - like many of the big boys (or big headed boys) who left expecting better things.

Hope he stays, but if he wants 150k (which I'm not convinced he does), then bye-bye lad.

The club had nurtured this kid though and it will be a kick in the town halls, but that's life.

He's far from the completed article, but very few players are at 20 years old, and a lot who are for one reason or another tend to peak early and be basically finished by 29.

Is he worth £150k a week? In so far as you can assign that sort of 'worth' to a footballer. Probably not.

Will someone offer that, or at least go higher than we have to date? Probably.

Do I hope we meet in the middle somewhere and keep him? Definitely.

A lad of his age and standing getting £100k+ a week may seem ludicrous and sometimes obnoxious to "ordinary" people (does to me anyway), but it's is the reality of football these days. And that's a reality that Liverpool FC have to live in. I'd rather keep Sterling on £100k+ a week than go and sign someone like Theo Walcott on £100k+ a week. And I'm certainly not going to castigate Sterling as the personification of football's current excesses over it.

It got nothing to do with him being 'worth' 150k a week. If someone else is willing to pay him 150k a week and stump up a transfer fee then that is his value, simple as that.

You are worth what someone is willing to give you, it seems obvious that another team sees his current/potential worth as 150k a week.

Problem is if you pay 120+ thousand to him how many players will want equal to him? There is a structure I thought, not going to be broken for him.

Give him a video of the last time we played utd and see if he thinks he is the finished article.

Hahahahahaha. very mean but sadly true

Huge potential and I mean huge but potential is one thing but reaching that is another thing. Would I pay someone with potential full wack at this stage probably not considering ibe ect

Difficulty the club has is that his agent will point out what Luke Shaw is getting up the road and will argue that Sterling must be at least worth that. It's not often I agree with Mourinho but he was spot on with what he said at the time with Man U paying that kind of money to Shaw.

Sterling could be a very good player in the future but should be offered a five year deal of 90 grand a week tops and if he won't sign it then we have to flog him in the summer. I would love to keep him as we need to keep all top players to progress but shouldn't be held to ransom. If he feels no loyalty then bye bye, we have a ready made replacement in IBE

I thought our model was to bring players through instead of wasting money on transfer fees (balotelli??).
If that is the case then we should be able to match teams in terms of wages due to the fact that we have saved money on the likes of Flanno, Sterling, Ibe etc???
