this year has been especially disappointing and heartbreaking for me because I thought this would be the year we would establish ourselves again as one of the leagues contenders. I am beginning to believe that we will never become as good and revered as we used too after all these transition periods, false promises and so many high hopes that lead to a top 4 place at best. Can someone, anyone provide some hope, and please don't say the future looks bright because we are a young team, because supporting my beloved Liverpool has become exhausting

What made the penny drop?

The trouble is the 4 clubs above us all have more money than us so we can't compete in the transfer market.
Maybe when the stadium is expanded we can close the gap a little financially wise.
{Ed002's Note - You are over estimating the income from the stadium. Liverpool were third highest spenders EPL in 2014 behind Manchester United and Arsenal. Manchester City were 4th and Chelsea 19th.}

it didn't drop, my support and love for Liverpool will never change, my expectations of my team however might

We were the 3rd biggest spenders because the squad we had at the time wasn't big enough or good enough.Man city and Chelsea didn't have to spend big because they already had a very good swuad
{Ed002's Note - So what is the excuse for the year before that when Liverpool were 4th highest spenders?}

'The penny drop' is a phrase meaning 'a sudden understanding of truth'
31 Mar 2015 13:59:35
that's why I said it didn't drop yet, I'm still of the belief that we will become great again even though my belief is diminishing

I know ed a lot of seasons we are up there amongst the top spenders.
Paying the fees isn't the problem, its paying the wages where I feel we fall behind.
I think I we are a long way off ever paying someone £250,000 a week.
{Ed002's Note - The club needs to move on from the massive financial mismanagement of recent years. Liverpool has built up very significant debt and is taking on more for the stadium updates. They need to balance the books and stop wasting money on players. Increasing commercial revenue will help and additional television money in two years will help. Selling the naming rights continues to be something the club are working on.}

playing young players more ! one name comes to my mind
marcelo bielsa
{Ed002's Note - He has to be 60 now. Hardly young.}

Ed002, perhaps Lavers and Red since 64 would have better illustrated their point if they had referred to 'Net spend over the last 5 years.' Still, figures don't lie
31 Mar 2015 16:56:31
Ed002 - are we looking at selling the rights to the stadium, or to stands? I've looked back and it seems to me both have been indicated
{Ed002's Note - Both are options.}

With a view on balancing the books.
What are people's thoughts on reports of us looking at will Hughes again in the summer fir 15mil.
Is that money we should be spending or should we be looking within the club (camps, teixeira) etc
