Ed's and Reds.

As my previous posts have explained I'm a firm believer that Rodgers will come good for this club if we give him time.

My question to my fellow supporters is what happens if BR does leave in the summer and our new manager/head coach, Klopp, De Boer, Bisla etc. finishes out of the champions league and doesn't win a trophy after 2 years? Do we keeping sacking them?

I still feel BR is young enough to learn from his mistakes and the two most successful clubs in the Premiership's history are the 2 who had their managers for a very long and stable time.

This is not arrogance on my part, as I'll be the first to admit I cried for Hodgson to be sacked after watching us under him in pre-season and refused to give him a chance.

If we do go for someone new in the summer, let's make a promise to stick by them for a long time and stabilise the club and focus on the youth coming through.

Happy Easter Guys!

How much time? Before if he was appointed I think most would have ageed that 3 years and 250 million should be sufficient but we're only a couple of places higher in the league, zero trophies and were a laughing stock in Europe.

BR has had nigh 3 years:

- He has wasted vast sums of money, the likes of which will probably never be see again
- He has won nothing
- He shows little development
- His interview/media skills are substantially lacking
- His verbal diarrhea is damaging us and our credibility throughout the sport

It has reached point where I actively avoid BR media because I know it will make my toes curl then angry.

The major issues I have with our Manager is he talks too much and he's a know it all. I truly believe that FSG have a right to expect at least Champions League qualification this season, after the investment they put in last summer. If we don't make top 4 he should be showed the door.

So our new manager needs to win things regularly, get top 4 every year, challenge in Europe, develop the youth and play them when they are ready, not too early or too late, speak well to the media, find bargains, and spend big when necessary, but not too much, just enough, play good football, keep our defence tight, keep the moral high, not stumble on contract talks, don't have a name which sounds kind of like a girls name and only whiten his teeth in the off season. You guys don't want much ;)

How many managers have 3 yrs, a shed load of money to throw at the team, and have owners happy with not being where the big boys play, every season.

Maybe not every season but didn't he say something about if you spend £100m you should be challenging for the title?
Actually like BR for some reason but he can't stay as manager with what he has been trying. Say he develops youth so far the only youth he has got through were more out of him having to throw them into the deep end. Sterling was our only real option because we had no wingers, flannagan had to play because we didn't have any other lbs and Ibe had to be recalled from loan early due to injuries.

Added to that it takes him half a season to get the team working meaning that these great runs of form he CAN get us to play are wasted. Last season our poor start cost us the title and this season it looks likely to cost us fourth despite their only being 1 team who have played well this season and they are walking the title! Should at least have expected fourth after the money invested, added to that majority of his signings haven't worked out. Have spent a fortune on strikers and have 1 striker we can rely on, spent a fortune on our defence and still dodgey at the back. At the end of the season we have 2 years of terrible dealings to sort out as well as bringing in players in to improve the starting XI, which without CL football will be difficult to do.

If he accepts help defensively and in the transfer market and stops changing rhe style of play at the start of the season think he could do really well. Can argue about saurez being a massive lose but he was banned for 4 months to begin with and knew he wanted out months in advance. So why was arguable our most important buy if the summer (replacing him) not the first buy - instead put it off and ended up with a player the manager clearly doesn't want. Still think if we get it right this summer both in transfer and behind the scenes we can fight for the title, but if we don't qualify for top 4 will be difficult! Arsenal have paid their stadium off and have shown can compete with english teams financially and if they get top 4 United could easily spend a fortune again this summer and buy 3-5 top players

yeah Fencey, we want Liverpool to be successful. i'm not happy with 2nd, 3rd, 4th. i want to win the league, and BR won't bring us there.

Roland you cannot be much of a liverpool fan. We were top of the league at Christmas in 13-14. Some poor start eh

{Ed001's Note - or you might need to go back and realise that we were still poor initially, just like Man Utd have been this season, but managed to pick up points anyway. It depends on how you view a poor start, not on who you support! I hate this kind of idiocy, if you want to be a knob and accuse others of not being fans you will be banned.}

Fencey, if he wins games most of the other ' wants' go away. Given the time and resources he's had to do that I think it's reasonsble that we should be challenging for league, trophies and putting together a half decent run in the CL. BR said it himself last year- spend 100 mil and you should be challenging for the title.

03 Apr 2015 14:26:38
Not going to argue who I support or not. But we won 11 games in a row (pretty sure that's a record), unbeaten in 16 and had a player who scored 31 goals in 33 games, single handledy winning a large number of games where I was at anfield and we played poorly.and it was overshadowed by the brilliance of one player, Norwich game was a perfect example scored 3 goals from nothing in the first half (scored another in second and left one on a plate for sterling) when the rest of the team was awful!

BR was literally gifted the perfect chance to win the league and still lost it! Can blame stevie all you want but we went all out to win a game we should have drawn against Chelsea then lost a 3-0 lead against crystal palace. United had their worse season in years, arsenal dropped a title winning position, chelsea didn't have a striker who could score, and city won the league by being decent (genuinely were no where near great that season, in fact didn't we do the double over them!?).

One of the few times we had one of the best teams in the league and two strikers on absolutely unplayable form along with sterling, coutinho, henderson and stevie having fantastic seasons. and still lost the league. If you think BR will have an easier chance of winning the league I couldn't agree less (see what United spend this summer)!

We have spent an absolute fortune and had 1 good season in 3, can abuse someone like Mourinho all you want but BR has never beat him and in two seasons is walking the league whilst making a profit in the transfer window, mainly by identifying weakness and fixing it. If he left chelsea end of the season has left a squad in great shape that would need little if any signings to win the league again, even if his opposition actually put up a challenge.

Sorry if it comes across as a bit abusive but love LFC and think people need to be realistic in that if we want to compete are in a worse position than the top 4 clubs and can't have a manager who spends +£100 m on players and performs miles worse than last season.

How did we go all out attack against Chelsea last season? I don't recall Chelsea creating a chance before Gerrard complacently miscontrolled the ball horrendously and gifted them a goal. NB - the slip came after the appalling miscontrol.

Once we'd lost that one single game, the title was gone. The Palace game was an irrelevance really. If we'd won, it may have put a bit of pressure on City, but nothing more.

Arguably Rodgers had performed alchemy to get that squad anywhere near to winning the title. At the start of last season people were saying they'd be happy with finishing in the top four!!!

03 Apr 2015 16:49:49
We didn't create a chance because Mourinho organised his team to do just that, something he does fairly regularly. We came onto them and even as you said they did t create a chance and we shouldn't have gone for it, just sat off bored both crowds and got a draw.

Alchemy? We had the 1st and 2nd highest goal scorers in the league! They got over 50 goals between them! Will give BR credit for improving the players but had our best chance at winning the league we've had in years.

Was great to watch as games were exciting but got ourself into trouble constantly that season with silly errors (and every season Tbf!) and got bailed out by our attackers. As we've seen this season without those goal our other deficiencies have been exposed along with the fact they've never been addressed.
