If a father give his son £100 using his card and the son spent the £100 it is £100 spent.
If a father give his son £100 from his wallet and the son spent the £100 it is £100 spent.
Am I talking to some kids here?
Forget this nonsense about net spend'with united.
Rodgers was given 250 million to spend and spent and wasted the 250 million he was given.

On a side note united can spend vast amounts because they pull in huge revenues and sponsorships. Liverpool do not and we have overspent within our means, been investigated and are in debt.

Father first sold his sons favorite toy and then gave him a 100 to spend. Maybe that should be factored into this analogy.

The son wasting it is another matter

All of that 250 million was wasted was it?

{Ed002's Note - It has not bought any success to the club at all - the club will end up between 5th and 7th and will have the joys of the poorly paying Europa League to look forward to if they can achieve fifth or sixth. The club will begin next season ranked somewhere in the mid 40s or so in Europe. Again in August a number of clubs will gather to discuss rules, capping certain income for FFP and, in particular, the pan-European breakaway - which two very powerful clubs want to happen as soon as possible now. Fortunately the other clubs won't be bullied but the owners will be aware that eventually Liverpool could be impacted by that. They are taking advice - whether or not they act this summer I still don't know. But things need to change for Liverpool to stand any chance of achieving long-term success on the field.}

"If you spend more than £100 million, you expect to be challenging for the league."

direct quote from Rodgers, but apparently we are "on par" only slightly less embarrassing than

"I’ve always said that you can live without water for many days, but you can’t live for a second without hope."

Thanks for the reply ed.

Maybe the father should question his own judgement in giving so much misplaced responsibility to the son in the first place.
If you rewind 12 months and look at this page Brendan was the man and I can't remember too many arguing against that back then.

He mentioned chelseas bench cost last season.
And I think ours may be now far substantial. Lovren,lallana, markovic, ballotelli, Sakho, borini. I could go on. Hundred million there alone

Chelsea has/had the luxury of making mistakes, we don't. So spending 20mil on Matic, a player who sold 10x less in previous years was a huge gamble that paid off. If it didn't pay off then they would have moved on to the next target without much fuss. We make it big deal because we don't have the luxury.

A lot has happened in 12 months gunner62.
In a poor league we should have achieved a top 4 finish.
We didn't and it may cost him his job.
Basically, we have done a Spurs.

Gunner, he was the man because he was winning and had he not succumbed to his arrogance we would have won the league. Many fans of your own club wanted Wenger fired last season and had he not won the FA Cup, he prolly would have so you know a lot more about this type of practice than we do because to many of your fans, Arsene is the man till he loses the next game(s). Now, questioning the parents as in this case, the owners is a low blow at them because they want to win and had to invest to win so trying to blame them is harsh and disingenuous on your part.

hey ed002 when you say whether or not they act this summer, i'm assuming you're talking about the manager? because from what youve been saying i know that spending more is not possible due to ffp etc.

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

Gunner, Rodgers success last season was rewarded with a new contract and I assume a raise and if he is sacked he will get a huge sum of 'thank you but no thank you' money.

For his failures he should be let go, he will get another job quick enough he is reasonably well thought of within the English media.
