So only thing left to play for is Europa league really, curious to think if fans want us to qualify for it?

I know it has negatives in that it can fatigue teams and is seen as a second rate tournament.

But Tbf thought that's always been arrogance by most english clubs as Tbf a lot of big english teams have played in it and only chelsea won it, plus offers CL footy, a trophy, and extra revenue (though no where near what CL offers) plus get to see your team play more!

Added to that even if we have a clear out still will have a big squad so can play ojo Sinclair rossiter Markovic ilori wisdom Ibe etc if they are playing in the league and give them a platform to impress - seemed to well for Arry Kane!

So tbh would like us to qualify and use reserves or academy players for the group - or do you think its better to have the advantage of a full week for league games and try get the title?

Liverpool should take the Europa League seriously. And so should the fans. I have seen embarrassing comments about hoping not to be involved i Europa League by LFC fans. If one thing was clear from this season abysmal CL campaign, it is that a lot of these players simply don't have continental experience and they could do with a year of of that. Additionally, what LFC are just like any other club and have no divine right to be "above" a competition like Europa League.

with BR and his cronies in charge LFC look doomed matey. Time for a change big style.

I think you'll be found out for trolling Scouse Pride, numerous Rodgers out posts but this one is in a thread about whether or not people are interested in us qualifying for the Europa League.

I'm with AG on this one and I agree with Rolanddinho as well in that I'd like to see some of our best academy and backup players getting a run out, if we even qualify.

If BR stays?
I think the European experience would do him the world of good.
We were awful in the champions league this year, Brendan does not poses the knowledge or experience to play in the champions league.

A new manager?
I think playing in the Europa league, would be like giving him extra pre season to look at the squad.

Plus Liverpool as a brand, need to be in Europe completions to help attract sponsorship deals in turn generating revenue.

So I'm for the Europa League.

yeah it seems like we are going to loose next games and the EL spot. which has a financial impact too. there still is TV money and participation/winning money for EL. also i think the winners of EL get automatic CL spot? not sure though need eds confirmation on that.

it does put extra pressure on players but i believe that is why we spent 150 million to have a bigger squad.
EL is not as decorated as CL i know but it is still a recognized trophy, a footballing honor. club name goes down in history and players get the medallions.

{Ed002's Note - Yes the winners will get a Europa League spot.}

In an ideal world we could take it very seriously, but top four is a must. Added to that the group stages in fairness normally have 1 good team (from italy, germany, portugal or spain) and then two teams that fringe/academy players team should be able to beat.

Personally hope we qualify for it and think we can navigate the group stages by rotating the squad. Spurs did it fairly well this season and tbh think we have more depth then them, we have a fair amount of players who didn't get game time this season adn a lot of academy players or players returning on loan who deserve a chance to show their quality. Think the group stages for europa league and cup games are a great platform for it.

Added to can field 1 or 2 of our normally starting XI for experience, resting, or to nurse back from injury as is a lot of games. Then when knock outs come in field much stronger teams.

Good question Roland. If he stays then yes so he can gain experience in Europe and he can play some of those players that cost over 200 million which may help either sell them for a decent amount or give them an opportunity to shine. If he goes them I'd rather have a new manager concentrate on getting us into the top 4, not messing around with Thursday games when he should be trying to work out how's he going to beat the likes of Hull and WBA at the weekends.

Sorry, but Europa league prize money is very small when compared with the amount of disruption caused to domestic competition, a Thursday game before the weekend is not good preparation, so if the choice is a decent domestic campaign or a good run in the Europa league, I would take a decent campaign in the league. I don't consider that to be an embarrassing opinion to have, just realistic.

I see where your coming from Swish.
I was probably only thinking of the first few games, but as you've said. When this carries on into the season it could well become a hinderence.

I'd like to think a top manager could cope with the squad at his disposal tho.

I think we should take the EL serious and get the player's some European experience it will also be ideal to use the young player's who are stepping up to the 1 St team ,we can then use the other 1st teamers in the prem game's its will also help player's get match fit or need to regain their form but that's just what I think about it ,otherwise the player's who need to get match fit or find their form will have to do it in league game's which won't be good for the team

LFC, it's players, managers and supporters should be looking to win every game. Fowler knows the fans pay enough money to watch the games and the players should be trying to win.
If that means we end up in the Europa League this season then we should be trying to win the Europa League next season. I just cannot understand why any fan would want us to lose games? Do you go to the match and sit there hoping we lose so we don't qualify for the Europa League?

Bonkers!
