McNulty's done a reasonably fair article on our season on the BBC Sport website.

Interesting gaggle of trolling comments however as it was a HYS article!!

He still gives BR another season, but as Ed001 said, journos love him as he gives them so many daft soundbites!

Agree2 Disagree1

The situation is repairable for me - a couple of quality strikers.
Put a fully-fit Sturridge and a Sanchez in our side, and it would be top four no problem.
I did post earlier about the high press and the front three but it hasn't made it.

Liverpool's play last season was characterized by an aggressive first half press, get a goal or more up, then sit back and counter with pace.
Why oh why did we buy strikers not suited to this style. From Sánchez, who would have been perfect, to Lambert and Balotelli who are not.
If Rodgers truly did not want Balotelli that in itself is a massive credit. He is plainly trying to make the most of a monumental mess up.

To say Liverpool have not pressed is untrue, it just hasn't had the end result. Chances were missed, runs not made, no counter attack (can't think of many gods scored this year on the break at all), no long ball escape to overcome the counter press.

It has all revolved around the poor attacking options we now have. What was the best attack in the league to one of the least effective. That's a large part of the problem and will, I suspect, be central to Rodgers submission to FSG at the end of the season.

Juicer

Don't know why people are disagreeing with you , I think everything you have said is spot on.

We've had the chances to put teams to bed but we haven't had the same bite as last year.

What went from a fast attack has turned into balotelli slowing it down and sterling whos shooting leaves a lot to be desired.

The press is a means to an end, not the end.
Southampton under Pochertino were excellent at it, and I was very impressed with his Spurs team at Anfield, but neither of them are playing CL football as a consequence. You've got to have the strikers to finish off the effort.
Milner would be a good addition to the midfield to affect the press, but getting Sturridge on the park, Origi and one or two quality other strikers will make a world of difference to our play. If the money isn't there, we may have to sacrifice Sterling to raise it, though I really hope that is not necessary.

And what will BR give as an excuse for buying those attacking players who have been ineffective in the first place, The Juicer?

Good grief, is it a case that 3 of you on here think repeating yourselves with platitudes towards Rodgers enough times will placate and make us believe your deluded attitudes?
Frankly, your empathy, with no concept of self responsibility in regard to Rogers suggests that you couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery! It’s obvious your arguments are based on nothing but sentiment and lack of ambition and little/victim man mentality. The guy is paid big bucks. He’s failed, so shall we just say “oh never mind, give him another chance”. Christ, if the world followed you 3, we would still be living in caves with the one eyed man as king. In other words you are talking bollocks.

AG, I do not know what happened with the striker recruitment.
It seems Rodgers did not want Balotelli but the transfer committee did, so presumably this is some kind of democratic forum that votes on these things ?
The strikers apart (and I'm not saying that they are bad players in themselves, just the wrong fit), I think that we have bought well last Summer.
There seems to be agreement that it should be a top four squad.
Adding the right strikers will make a massive difference.

E-S, a collective approach has been put in place towards player acquisition so it is not correct to then blame one person for it's failure.
If you don't agree with my point about the strikers, what would you do as an alternative. Apart from sacking Rodgers which you, and others, also have repeated endlessly ?

Juicer, you are wrong. Per Ed01, BR had the chance to stop the Balo signing like he did with the Remy and Bony signing but he choked and did nothing. He is a part of the committee you speak of and he has the final say on who gets signed and nobody has forced any player on him since he came here and the committee was only set up last season so blaming them is a cop out which means you must be listening to the mindless drivel he is spouting in the media. If the committee goes which they should then as part of the committee, he should go as well

Juicer we could have Aguero, Jovetic, Kane, Drogba, but I doubt he'd know how to use them.
Therefore in answer to your question, if we couldn't sack Rodgers then we are sconed
