The obligatory manager question coming up. Everyone has dismissed Rafa as a step backwards, didn't work before etc. I just wondered whether similarly to Real Madrid, we could look to Rafa as a stop gap? Would he consider that an option or would he want a long term position. If he is considering a short term stint at Real then surely he would with us? To me that might be an idea whilst we look for long term solution, who ever that is as I don't see a. Obvious choice.

I don't think Rafa is the right choice as manager, however, if it's a choice if Rafa or Brendan next season I know who I'd rather see in the dugout.

I reckon Rafa would take the Liverpool job short term, but it'd be with the intention of getting his foot in the door to get the job long term.

I also don't think a "short-term" manager makes any sense unless you've sacked someone mid-season and can't get who you want until the end of the season. Giving Rafa a minimum of one season, and, presumably in conjunction with a DoF or the transfer committee, a minimum of two transfer windows in which he pursues his ideas in the market and on the training pitch and then handing over to a guy with different tactical ideas is just unnecessary disruption to the squad.

That being said, if the club can't or don't want to get Klopp, or someone a little further down the scale like Galtier or Schmidt, I'd fly to Naples, and carry Rafa back to Liverpool on my back to have him in charge next season instead of Rodgers.

{Ed001's Note - would anyone but Rafa want the job?? It might be a case of Rafa or Allardyce the way things are going!}

Ed1
I am sad enough as it is. After reading your reply i fainted

{Ed002's Note - Given your cravings for ex-players it is worth noting that Joey Barton will be looking to go in to management. And he might not be bad at it at all.}

Surely Rafa is committed to the Madrid job now?

24 May 2015 17:26:20
Give rafa the job for 1 year tgen have him mentor gerrard?

{Ed002's Note - This would be the Steven Gerrard with zero relevance experience?}

We need experience in a manager but what we have been appalling for twenty years is transfers. We should be going all out for monchi and then a quailty manager to work under him.
Rafa is not the answer. I would not want Rodgers or rafa near the club next season. Rafa is a top man he really is,but I watched a lot of dross under him and our squad's were always poor. We were miles behind challenging with the exception of one season and even then rafa wanted Barry over alonso!
Stop thinking of Istanbul ' think of our last season understand benetiz, a similar mess!

Yeah, lads, just because it worked in the 80s doesn't mean it's a good idea in 2015.

24 May 2015 17:34:31
Still would do better then rodgers ed002

24 May 2015 17:41:53
I'd want Rafa.

24 May 2015 17:51:57
i don't want rafa

24 May 2015 18:14:31
Next door's cat is looking better than Mr Rodgers at the moment.

FSG will understand 'Mr Rodgers'.

24 May 2015 18:28:42
Rafa was the man that took us to no 1 rated team in europe. I'd take him over Rodgers in a heartbeat.

False comparison as BR is not a high bar at all because even a dead clock is better than BR because at least it will be right twice a day.
