Today is a good day for football. It could be the end of Fifa ? End of blatter ? I find it surprising his number 2 is arrested and not him. do you think this will affect the vote ed002? Heard any reactions from any FA member ? What's next for Fifa do you think ?
Sorry, just excited they've been caught.

{Ed002's Note - The United States Justice Department does not work quickly and such an issue could take a long time to come to court in the United States. Everything else will be a wait and see what happens situation. The Swiss have acted as a result of information provided by the US which is, I understand, compelling enough for them to begin a separate investigation. The immediate impact will likely be on CONCACAF and on a number of accounts being frozen (certainly any in US Jurisdiction).

The potential long-term impact in Europe will be discussed when a number of clubs meet at the end of August. There is a potential that one (actually up to three) of those clubs could look to have an earlier meeting to discuss the way forward.}

Hi Ed

Would the meeting in August be related to the breakaway league?

Also I know this may also sound like a silly question but I know Fifa is governing body of football but isn't European football governed by Uefa?

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - The meeting in August addresses lots of different issues that major European sides have, television rights, concerns over sponsorship, inconsistent approaches by separate FAs, the pan-European league, FFP, and a whole host of other stuff.

And European football is indeed run under UEFA. They have attended these meetings on occasion - when asked.}

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Talk sport radio suggest the 2018 World Cup could be played in England or Germany/Holland and the 2022 World Cup in the US as they were runners-up in the bidding.
If this turns out to be the case and England get the 2018 WC, could liverpool receive a cash injection to finish the stadium redevelopment ready to host WC games?

Cheers

{Ed001's Note - that won't happen, Australia have a very real case for legal action regarding the 2022 World Cup, for starters.}

27 May 2015 15:13:53
I have to disagree Ed001, As an Australian, I would love for the World Cup to be played here, but I think that based on our amateurish bid video with stupid cartoon kangaroos bounding all over the place and bloody crocodile Dundee making an appearance, I think that's more than enough to put the kibosh on any legal action LOL.

{Ed002's Note - The Australian legal case would be against the reasons given for the bid not being successful, and probably won't mention kangaroos at all.}

27 May 2015 15:53:40
Ed002, i'm not sure you got the humour in what I wrote.

{Ed002's Note - I am serious, you should see if you can find a photograph of the final tender document.}

27 May 2015 16:43:38
Ed for them to have a legal case for why it was rejected, it has to be a dumb reason right ? The 2022 is quatar, so I'd say Australia was told it would be too hot ? Lol!? what was the reasoning given ed?

{Ed002's Note - It was because Australia proposed a December to February window and FIFA discounted it because it needed to be in June-July.}

27 May 2015 17:27:48
Is this for the general good of football or the Americans lending a supportive hand for the third time?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. If it is xenophobic pig ignorance, which it appears to be, then you would do better to keep it to yourself.}

27 May 2015 17:52:16
Wow Ed, i'm gobsmacked, i was only joking. Surely then as the world cup has been announced for winter, australia should at least get their bidding fee back.

{Ed002's Note - It is way more complicated than that - and certainly if it were that simple FIFA would give it back. But incredibly significant payments have already been made by one organization in relation to that tournament that FIFA could potentially get in to a bigger hole if Australia were to win a legal case - and that will be asking for no more than the tender process to be re-run.}

27 May 2015 18:14:28
Once again your'e to kind for the information shared. If you're ever in oxford you'll have to let me know, i could pick your brain for hours! Ill ask only one more question, as I'm sure you're sick of answering me, do you see a re-run for the 2018 and 2022 world cup hosting?

{Ed002's Note - Certainly not 2018 and I would not like to call the state of the game by 2022.}

27 May 2015 18:30:23
FIFA is the most corrupt organization on the plannet. Even corrution-infested dictatorships don`t come anywhere close this shameless excuse of an organization

{Ed002's Note - I can think of far worse. One based about 1,00 miles southwest of Houston is far worse.}

27 May 2015 23:06:38
Strange why Australia would ask for that window. It can reach easy 45 degrees in most States in those months. Probably just wanted to keep it away from Aussie rules and rugby league.
