A lot of media reporting that Milner is set to sign for us having reached a agreement with a large signing on fee and an increased salary from his current City contract. Worst of all, he is signing because he is guaranteed to be first choice. I find it incredible how we think signing an ageing player on a £100k + contract and offering a guaranteed starting spot is a good deal, especially seeing as though he's actually not as good as people think he is. Once his let's go what does he become? Another poor signing I think hopefully I am proved wrong.

I also don't understand the signing of Ings, why sign a player like him for £5m when we already have Origi and Sinclair at the club? It makes no sense whatsoever.

God knows what else we will waste money on this summer. We always have the money but we never seem to be able to spent it well. Hopefully if Rodgers' gets sacked this week, our interest in those players will disappear.

We approached Messi and Ronaldo before him but they weren't interested.

He is an excellent player and maybe more what we need than any player we have got apart from suarez in the last few days

I think you may be underestimating Milner, and 29 is not old for a modern footballer, especially when considering that Milner has probably only averaged 25 starts a season since joining City. I'm saying his legs are a long way from being shot

I agree with you about our young talent, but ask yourself are they ready now? Are we ready to go into a pivotal season without Gerrard? And lastly ask yourself if 5 million a year in wages is such bad business when shane long ( all due respect to shane, who is an honest player) can command an 11m transfer fee and 2m a year wages?

We need Milner, he is a talented committed all round midfield presence, with genuine leadership qualities and great EPL and CL experience. In the absence of Gerrard and without the ability or finance to attract a players of vidal's quality he is our best bet

Why did we look for messi and Ronaldo?? Surely naymar would be more realistic

Ok a lot of people on here dissing Milner well I have played footy with the lad on more then one occasion and all I can say is the lad is a first rate class footballer. He has quick feet and was mentored by joe hart when he was at leeds. I would love to see him in a red shirt he would be an excellent signing for us he is a player who can change a game. Has good tactical awareness. The beauty of getting him although he is 28 he hasn't played much football recently at City and he hasn't any injury issues. If we get him, you'll see what I'm telling you!

I'd make him captain as well

He'd be a good addition. he's probably been in city's top 3 or 4 players this year. a team which finished higher than us. don't know where this notion comes from about him being not good enough. he's also versatile enough to play wing back or centre back which no doubt BR will try at some stage.

Ings has had one fair season in the PL scoring 11 goals. Am sorry but for a striker that isn't exactly setting the world alight. Similar figures to Lambert and how did that work out. Milner cannot get into thefirst team at City on a regular basis but more to the point he cannot get into a poor England side and is only a sub. There has to be a reason for this. There is he is 100% commitment but only 50% quality. Both represent further evidence of our ever present failure to aim high enough in the transfer market and offer further evidence of BR's small club mentality

So Milner is taking up the role of Glen Johnson from next season?

stop spouting nonsense poolie, in case you forgot we are the small club comparedto City nowadays, anything else is delusions!!
