Hypothetical question. If after ten games we have say 6 points, and were say 6th from bottom, in view of the tv deal that kicks in what do the club do? And if anyone wants to get involved in this hypothesis, then give your thoughts but say what you think they should do and give a realistic achievable improvement. I will be interested to see who replys to this and there ideas, but it will also be very interesting to see who avoids this question and doesn't!

{Ed002's Note - The TV deal is not this coming season Waro.

FSG has an exit plan, but they are giving another shot at getting it right on the field.}

Sorry ed002, that's what I ment, staying in the premier league in view of the TV deal that comes in in the 16/17 season, it's imperative teams stay in the division so how would the club react if we have a bad start? Particularly in view of the owners plans as you've stated.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect they would look to bringing in one of those who has been advising the club, in particular one person I would think, to oversee what is going one. He has a lot of good experience. However, it would not please the manager.}

It's very early in the close season and it seems highly likely now that FSG are intent on sticking with BR. I for one am very much behind the owners but if the situation u talk of arises then I expect them to make a decision. right or wrong I am not sure. I think this year is make or break. Pleased with the signings thus far, I just feel in my heart we will have a much better season.

01 Jul 2015 09:33:10
Ed002 do you mean an exit plan as in them selling the club or swapping manager? Don't know if I've not read it right early start this morning

{Ed002's Note - They have an exit plan in place to sell the club - most of the owners and investors in clubs do.}

What an AMAZING question?? Oh genie mack I can't wait to answer this.

Sorry Waro couldn't help myself but your let's see who replys and anyone who doesn't but posts something today then uh oh must be laughed at!

For me it would actually depend on how the team were playing and who is playing. I know they would have to be awful to get that many points but are the players fighting for him? Do they look like they understand the plan or do they look lost? Is Can playing centre back or full back again? Is he persisting with silly formations playing Markovic left back now or something?

If the players are trying hard and seem to know what they are supposed to be doing and we have a reasonable formation with players playing where they are comfortable then I'd consider letting him continue and give him more time to turn it around. I'd also need the high press to be played though because if it was tactics of keeping the ball but doing nothing with it and dropping off the opposition then I wouldn't see him turning it around.

01 Jul 2015 09:48:36
Hahahahaha, how can you disagree with a question😂😂

I guess Rodgers would be sacked and they have O'Driscoll to step in. Maybe youth will be more introduced, as both he and Pipjin are known for their work.

No more funds for players, names like Countinho will want to leave if again we miss CL or even challenge. Add anyone else you think. These will be replaced by our own. Sale Funds will go towards this debt (still unclear how FSG have saved us yet we are in massive debt? Surely no real difference).

Owners will look to sell, with a slightly better stadium, good marketing and sponsorship in place. Reduced debt from senior first team sales without replacement. Reduced wages as now mostly youth academy players.

Imo. I don't see us getting to this stage. We have good players and squad, good coaches. Even when Rodgers was getting it wrong we still picked up points and sometimes unlucky to drop any. Mostly due to poor finishing and no strikers. but with Ings Origi and some £20-£30m striker in, doubt this problem will arise.
Imo appointments are via FSG with Rodgers agreement (maybe not? He will publicly say their his choices of course) point being, these guys won't allow the unusual out of poisition play. I think BR may have lot less control then before, I'm sure they'd rather he quit then pay off contract.
Add also some quality elsewhere. Ilori getting a chance, must be better then Skrtel or Lovren. Milner may not float a lot of boats, but Gerrard was poor last season, Milner will improve us. Firmino, enough said. Clyne over Johnson, or out of position wingers. Ibe and Can will have improved, maybe Moreno as well?

I really don't see as tough as the fixtures look, only 6 points from 30. No matter how awful we've been, I don't think its been that bad ever. With worse squads. And as awful as the last game was, the last couple of results, our season was already over, champions seem to also drop points after the title us won cause their season is over too.

So far only max has attempted to answer the question. Sean, no idea what you were trying to get across in your post, sorry😕.

01 Jul 2015 10:16:44
It's a tough question waro, as Sean stated there are many factors at play and sometimes it can come down to plain bad luck with results. Generally speaking and assuming most of the lack of points came down to bad formations/ tactics and lack of a goalscorer or 'uncoachable defensive mistakes' then I would lay that squarely with the manager. CL would be basically gone already bar a minor miracle so you may as well get rid and look to bring in klopp or even ancelotti( assuming he was over his illness and was available) Hiddink wouldn't be a bad option either in my opinion. If they really are looking to give it one last shot then at least try with a proven manager- not one that has never won a trophy in his life ( and at that stage would have had close to 300 mil and 3 and half years in charge). That all sounds a bit negative, if BR is staying time to get behind the team again and look forward to the new season!

01 Jul 2015 10:10:45
The manager would be sacked (possibly before this) and the club would move on.

01 Jul 2015 10:36:28
Waro, sorry I don't know how you can't understand that. I'll try clarify it even further for you -

If the players are playing out of position, not trying hard, look confused and we're playing boring possession without intent football then I would sack him.

01 Jul 2015 10:42:17
Maybe the team will get off to a flier who knows but change at a club can be positive and maybe just maybe Rogers can get us back playing full press and going at teams again , I would like to see us go at teams again

01 Jul 2015 10:44:45
If we've only got 6 points from 30 I should imagine the owners would get rid of rogers, he would be odds on to try and shift the blame he may even try and use the T word again, but surely enough would be enough by then and he would be gone, I would be in favor of getting new manager in asap rather than drifting through the season hoping those on sabbatical want the job at the end of the season, can't imagine this happening though as the 1 st 11 look much stronger in fact I'd say with the current squad we should be pushing for top 4 easily, a lot will depend on rogers ability to learn from mistakes something he's not managed to do in 3 seasons

01 Jul 2015 10:47:26
I think it would depend on circumstances Waro.

For example; if the poor results were due to an injury crisis it would be unfair to replace manager.

If it was due to players being played out of position then it would be completely fair to say manager is responsible (along with the players)

It could be any number of immeasurable and unforeseeable conditions which may have contributed to the results and as such each results should be reviewed on it's own merit.

If after reviewing them we could say that the largest contribution to those results is poor tactics/team selection then I would be ok with replacing the manager.

01 Jul 2015 10:48:50
Sorry should also add that my realistic improvement would simply be to finish the same position as last year at least, very achievable under the circumstances listed.

01 Jul 2015 11:02:57
I was in favour of BR being given this season to turn things around, I felt he earned the chance.
To answer your question, however, the useful indicator is two points gained per game as an average to realistically look at CL qualification and even mount a title challenge.
In your scenario, the league season effectively becomes over.
I was going to say he should go, but then I remembered EL.
Hmm, yeah he'd have to go.
Too much money been spent again.

After ten games, I'd say his margin could be 15-20 + point gained. On thin ice with anything less than that.

01 Jul 2015 11:37:02
I would have sacked Rodgers already.
I see it as a mistake by the owners that they haven't already.
If it's the same old story when the season starts then I expect him to be sacked after say 10-15 games.
I don't see the owners selling anytime soon though Waro, sorry to disappoint you.

01 Jul 2015 12:09:12
I'd say max probably has everything what would happen mentioned.

No one else think rodgers has a blessing with the away fixtures?

1. If he wins home games and gets a point or two away no matter where we are in the league he will have a legitimate case of we have the amount of points we expected at this stage.

2. The first game is Stoke I know tough place to go we got battered but it's still arguably the most winnable. Win this game and a good deal of pressure would be taken off the next 2-3 away games (as long as we're doing the business at home of course)

3. First few weeks of the season is basically a lottery. Anyone can beat anyone in the first 7-8 weeks probably especially the first few while the windows is open (look at arsenal in recent years) so with the potential negativity of supporters a up in the air lottery of a game suits us and leaves us with key home games at the business end of the season.

4. Bit of a repeat but players have the chance to make them self instant heroes. benteke scores 2 against Stoke and a winner against United he's a hero. Firmino scores a screamer against the spuds hero. We keep a clean sheet against city the defense is sorted. Things like this effect early confidence which can be a big difference.

So waro back to your question which admittedly I haven't really answered so far.

Yes in your scenario rodgers should and almost definitely would be gone.

A scenario where we have 20-22 points from the first 10 games (about as likely as 6 points imo) then we are in a strong position with potentially a team that still isn't at full form and people like sturridge to come back

01 Jul 2015 12:49:24
The scenario only begs one answer though Waro? Of course he'd be sacked if those 10 games were added to the end of last season. Any sane person could only deduce the players weren't playing for him or were confused because there's no way our squad should have just 6 pts from 10 games!

01 Jul 2015 13:48:25
He should never have been kept and the fact that all theses changes good or bad, are happening yet the main culprit for our issues is still around, does not bode well.
