I am blown away by comments here that Benteke would be a useless signing. If it was for 10 million would people be happier? I totally agree he would not be my top choice, and I assume Rodgers has already scoped out the possibility of Lacazette, Bacca, etc. The question for me is would I rather our squad with Benteke as an option or not, and for me I would rather have a proven goal scorer in the squad. Comparing him to Balotelli and Carroll is ridiculous. Every player is a gamble, and I would rate Benteke hungrier than either of those two. He scored more in his last 10 games than anyone in our squad over an entire season after all, and didn't look all that lazy in the process.

Hes been poor for two seasons. there's plenty of options out there who are better. Mitrovic being one who even ed2 said is suprised we haven't gone for, as is all we need.

Not for anywhere near the money apparently involved, I'd rather we just waited another season to see what is available then.

How has he been poor Dorset lol. He's had a few droughts sure but he's got almost a goal every other game for Villa.

It's the old familiarity breeds contempt thing. If he'd banged in goals at that rate for Atletico Madrid there'd be people wetting themselves and creating little fantasies about him being a boyhood Red in Kinshasa and how having fellow Belgians at the club will help him settle etc. When they play here you get to see that real footballers often have crap games (which they don't on YT or highlights shows)

Dorset red in fairness to him he was out injured for a good chunk of the season before last.
If we sign him he'll have my support but not too keen for us to get him.

Let us all remember that if he joins, he did not set his price tag. He wants to come and play for us so good on him. If your issues are with price, it has nothing to do with Benteke then.
