Im trying to make sense of both Toure and Skrtel potentially signing new contracts. If as reported Ilori is going to get a chance, it makes little sense keeping both.

Skrtel will hopefully be sold,I believe the club is open to offers,regardless of the new contract.

Sakho and Ilori should be our first choice centre back pairing next season. They have the pace and positioning sense to play a high line, and Lovren and Kolo can be the back ups. Skrtel hopefully gets shown the door as he is simply holding the team back at the moment and is not really worth a new contract.

whilst I agree re: skrtel/ illori/ sakho, if we get rid of martin, we lose our most experienced defender which probably isn't the best idea at the moment

We have enough experience in the team anyway. Toure is vastly experienced as well, and he's definitely staying. If we want to form a partnership of two from Lovren, Illori and Sahko we need to let develop partnerships and understanding.
The sooner this is done the sooner these things will develop.

If his experience is that of being a poor defender and the worst of our Cbs as well as being the weakest link in said defense then he will NOT be missedby anyonr
