Italian sources suggesting that Borini is keen on a move to Lazio and the only thing left to agree is a deal with Liverpool. The fee looks like it will be around €7m. Such a huge loss from the £14m that we were offered last summer!

I would have kept him for that amount. How is Ings a better player than Borini, I never understand. BR has a habit of wasting money.

Only ourselves to blame for this one. If we had afforded him some playing time(which shouldn't have been out of the question given his commitment to try and make it here plus our dearth of goals) he would have maintained a reasonable market value. Sadly we didnt.

He wouldn't leave last year, I don't see how that is Rodgers fault

05 Jul 2015 14:51:31
Let's face it we're lucky to even receive a fee. He's average and I can't believe we bought him in the first place (could say the same with a lot of BR's signings) I'd snap their hands off

Him not leaving isn't Rodgers fault and let's not forget its BR who brought him to the club. Its the fact he basically refused to give the lad a chance after rejecting bigger money because he wanted to fight for his place. It is Rodgers fault his value is now so low. Can't you see this?

05 Jul 2015 15:20:25
If he'd accepted the offer from Sunderland we'd have made a profit on him.

I believe the fee we paid was more like £10m and we haven't sold him yet. Can't see Liverpool accepting less than 10m euros and presumably we've had some loan fee for him along the way.

A shame it didn't work out as I like the lad but hardly a financial disaster of Aquilani, Cole, Downing or Carroll proportions.

His only problem is by trying TOO hard.

It's like any sport - sports people need to relax and it seems the burden of Liverpool Football Club does not enable that on some players.

I wish he could stay and I reckon he will shine at another club.

Shame.

He was told he had no future at the club and Liverpool could have made a profit on him but he chose to stay anyway.

Not good enough but great attitude.
Good luck Fabio

Yeah gmil, curse him for turning down a big pay rise elsewhere to try and fight for his place at a club he clearly wanted to play for under a manager that paid a substantial amount to bring him here. Glad to be rid of such a stinking attitude from the club, thank god a lot of the rest of our players don't show the same determination and commitment.

He was told he wasn't wanted, so why stay I'm not questioning his attitude, Rodgers was going to sell him for a profit, but you choose to blame him for it

Once again gmil i'm not blaming Rodgers for the fact he didn't leave? Has he ever sold any player he has bought for a profit at LFC? What he is being blamed for is the fact that nobody would dream of paying anywhere near that for Borini this summer because he hasn't been seen on a football pitch in about a year. But I suppose that's Fabios fault. Why stay? Why waste money on a player if you are never going to use him is a better question.
