Hi eds

When a player is loaned out, who pays the players salary?

And sometimes I hear a club agrees on a loan of player X @£2m, how does that work?

I'm just trying to understand if a club actually makes a profit or loss on a loan or its it either/neither.

Thanks

{Ed002's Note - It is case by case - for younger players there will be no loan fee and the owning club will typically pay the wages. For others there may be a small loan fee and the wages may be split. For the higher end players, such as Falcao, there was (in the case of MU) a significant loan fee and MU paid the wages, but for Chelsea there is a different agreement with a player or two going on loan to offset some of the loan fee and the wages more than halved. So there is no hard and fast rule.}

What is a youth loan?

{Ed002's Note - It is the loan of a youth player and quite unusual because there are a lot of limitations about where they can live, schools etc..}

Excellent Ed, and thanks,

Answered my concern about the future of the youth players,
So it's actually an investment in the younger players by the parent club. I like the sound of that.

{Ed002's Note - It is not something Liverpool really do much of. A few younger players have had the chance in the past couple of years - the older players were just dumped on loan for the sake of something to do. Their is clearly no plan or infrastructure.}

Well here's for praying that all football clubs and especially LFC start implementing a plan and infrastructure.

Ed02, what if the player loaned is made permanent? Does the loan fee is deducted from the actual transfer fee?

{Ed002's Note - It depends on the contract.}
