I've serious reservations about this season, and to be honest I'm viewing the new season with trepidation more than anything. How Rodgers can not address the problem of the keeper and the woeful defence that's been awful for 2 years is quite frankly staggering! I'm starting to think it's a public resignation, maybe he wanted sacking for his pay off, because a so called football professional should be able to address and identify what our MAJOR problems are, any manager worth his salt builds from the back, not Swiss Tony though, he knows more than any manager past or present # LEGEND.

Agree7 Disagree7

I am certainly cautious about the defending, Rodgers has been flippant about this for 3 years, and it needs to be better next season.

Couldn't agree more Waro.

I agree with you on the keeper part, defence though? Gomez and clyne are good players. Hopefully one of the new coaches can organise and coach our "uncoachable" defence. He has to find a central partnership that works though, if he starts with skrtle then you can have another "agree" lol

In fairness, he's bought 2 keepers and 8 defenders in 3 years so he has attempted to build from the back. He's just not bought correctly (evidently). The signings of Manquillo/Lovren and letting go of Agger/Kelly still grinds me.

But its a new season and I feel the squad is shaping up nicely. We could certainly do with a Keeper or DM but if we can move on the players that won't play (Balotelli, Borini, etc.) and can hold on to Lucas, I feel we have a team capable of challenging Top 4.

I fully accept that a lot of fans have trepidation over next season because of a lack of faith in Rodgers but accusing him of deliberately sabotaging a team to get a pay off is a bit much.

Liverpool don't have enough money to fix everything that needs fixing so they identified where they could spend their money most efficiently to make the biggest gains. They obviously think that's up front and not defence. If the season goes badly you can say I told you so but give them a chance to try their plan before you attack them for incompetence.

Oh Waro, can't you see that building a football Team is like making Love to a beautiful women, u have to buy her things that she neither needs or will ever use, you never confront her with her real problems and most importantly Waro, even when she is shockingly sh#t you must tell her she is outstanding.

Muscatred.

Liverpool have spend well more than 300 mill in past three years. Just don't byte the excuse we never had money to buy a top class Keeper and DM.

23 Jul 2015 13:15:41
Agree Euro, we bought loads of players over the period we simply didn't need. Even this window, which I'm pretty happy about given most of the players are upgrades I can't help thinking a new keeper was a priority .We now have 9 strikers but still the worst keeper in the top 6 by some distance.

EG/Swish, we had the money, Rodgers just disagrees with you that that's where it should be spent.

23 Jul 2015 15:11:10
That's the bizarre thing Muscat, BR likes to play the ball out from the back yet has a keeper that is absolutely shocking with the ball at his feet. Migs is a pretty decent shot stopper but I cover my eyes everytime the ball gets played back to him!

23 Jul 2015 16:57:33
That's a very valid point, and the best anti-migs one I've heard yet.

If the midfield and forwards impress this year then I imagine spending in defence will be the priority next summer.

23 Jul 2015 18:19:53
We don`t need to spend on the defence because we already have good defenders here, Muscat. Spending money has fixed NONE of our defensive issues so clearly, we know where the prob lies. Continuing to throw money at such a basic prob is just stupidity. The back 5 need to work as a team just like the five fingers on your hand. Money can`t fix that. Sound coaching and a well-drilled and coherent system, does of which so far, BR has NONE of those. Hopefully, the new coaching crew can fix our "uncoachable" defensive errors because clearly BR and almost 100m spent on the GK and defenders, can`t and won`t if the spending continues.

23 Jul 2015 19:42:59
Not convinced that defensive personnel is the issue, more the coaching of the defence. Hopefully the 'new' coaching staff will bring defensive acumen to the side. The keeper? Swish is spot on.
