U just did?

But if you start off by saying you never do it, it gives you more credibility ;)

Joe Allen is a good squad player; stop blaming all of our woes on him. He's not a world beater, but he is on small wages and he puts in 100% and has generally been happy with a smaller role in the first team. He can do a job, so stop whining.

Although I want Allen to come good, I couldn't disagree any more with TJRed's justification of keeping him.

"Small wages and puts in 100%", is no reason to keep a player. If you 5 of those players on small wages but put in 100%, you then have 5 inadequate players with a lot of money going out and still not enough quality on the pitch.

RR I get your point and it makes some sense, but we can't have superstars on our team at the wages of Joe Allen. We sign all superstars then
A. Someone has to sit out and will get mad
B. We go bankrupt (although I'm not sure we aren't headed there again).

What's the alternative? Getting squad players that don't demand playing week in/week out but can fill in and do a job if needed. IE Toure, Allen. Now I'd like to see Allen moved on in light of Rossiter should be getting what little time Allen gets, as I think they're about on an equal level right now, and if someone is younger and equally as good as you are, they should play in my book.

That being said, if we sell Joe Allen, that doesn't mean we are winning the league this year. I remember last season he honestly bossed the midfield a couple games, and made Toure for City look lost.

That's the thing TJ, A couple of games. Allen has had a chance to prove himself and I even said the other week that with Gerrard gone I feel he could step up and be more confident in dictating the game in midfield. Yet watching him in preseason, he's been no different than before.

I keep saying and will continue to keep saying we need a leader in our midfield. Someone who passes, wants it back, someone who always makes them self an option for the pass, someone who takes the game by the scruff and controls the pace of the game.
