Ok does firmino worry anyone else? just 2 games no big deal eh? i think probably everyone has observed this
he is not starting for some reason. i am pretty confident he won't be starting against arsenal either. he looked half the pace against bournemouth. and i am pretty sure he isn't a hardworking player ( well for now because probably bundesliga doesn't require one to be), he is your typical new gen Brazil player with flair in abundance. But i fail to understand we paid almost the same for him as we did for benteke and yet he is not making the playing 11? the way he played against bournemouth if he repeats that against arsenal at emirates we will have a tough time. could it be that BR is not playing him because he is still not suited to press the opposition and is awful without the ball at his feet. elsewise i don't see a point in lallana out there when it is clear that he isn't well suited on the wings and that's not lallana's best position.
yea i know new league, conditions etc etc but still if we pay that money for someone i'd expect them settle right in because they are brilliant players. may be its just to early to be even posting this. but i just want us to continue and pull a win against arsenal too because i feel this is the right time to play them. they are under pressure and whoever wins the game gets massive boost in confidence. if We win it gets our season started and we can play with much less pressure against United. we would be calm. however if we loose i think that would just burst our bubble and we will be under pressure against united. TBH both Arsenal and united are there to be taken and we have to get the best of our 30 millions signings to beat them. And that is why i am worried About Firmino , Arsenal is just not the right game for him to get his first start because we know what we will get at emirates, players will have to work very hard off the ball against them and if firmino just keeps standing around the game will go by him pretty quick , on the flipside he could score a magical solo goal. Typical Brazillian stuff here. What are others views on this? it is the best time to be playing arsenal isn't it ? and a win would just get our season on its way

{Ed001's Note - Firmino is well known for working hard and the Bundesliga is a league that does require a player to graft. Not sure why you think it doesn't.}

so we're judging new players on 20 mins game time now? should we have started every new arrival just to give you a bit more time to judge them?

21 Aug 2015 05:45:06
Firmino is top class and a hard working team player, he will get used to the prem, and akshit will change his name to askshit.

21 Aug 2015 07:03:20
Give me a break, The lad is top class and it's just a matter of time. I can't believe it how did he managed such long post.

21 Aug 2015 07:03:26
Firmino has moved leagues and only been training for a few weeks with the squad.

It's easier to put benteke in as he's been playing in the prem already.

Stop trying to find things that don't exist and give him time to settle in.

the game against bournemouth went past him didn't it then? yea just 10 minutes? but he didn't do himself much good. just asking , i know it would be answered against arsenal in three days. guess shouldn't just post here at all. not every arrival but players worth 30 million should be starters and arsenal isn't the ideal game for firmino to have his first start against. have nothing against the player . obviously want him to do well. and btw i dunno depay has had his start , sterling is starting for city , benteke is starting for us. what's wrong in wanting firmino to start ??
As for hardworking if Ed001 say he is i will believe that and its a relief.

{Ed001's Note - he is mate, though I do agree, he didn't show himself well against Bournemouth. He just needs a bit of time to settle in and get used to the game here.}

You don't know your football mate and are judging the lad on 2 cameo appearances. He chases down and tackles from the front extremely well. Let's give him a chance

21 Aug 2015 08:31:16
I've heard that they haven't been overly impressed with him in training, the words I were told were " they were a bit shocked and expected a lot more than they've seen ", that was a few weeks back! But as soon as I saw his first few touches versus stoke I thought he looked the real deal and going out on a limb here and I don't normally judge players either way after a couple of cameo appearances but I think he will eventually turn out to be a superstar, I'm really excited about him when he gets a decent run of 15 to 20 games under his belt.

21 Aug 2015 08:57:06
i really don't understand it guys . either you lot don't read posts at all or i probably don't write them well. i have said yes two games are a bit early to judge him. and yes i called him not hardworking because in those 20 minutes i didnot see anything to be very excited about if i go by two games for us
Then i ask that whether arsenal/united would be the right game to start him. if it goes well then great but if it doesn't and we loose both he will have unneccesary pressure on himself . i believe Arsenal and united are both winnable games but starting firmino is a conundrum. he needs time to settle ofcourse but its not like stoke and bournemouth were the biggest games we could have started him. and probably by now two weeks in he would have been ready for the two big games up next. and that is why i am worried about firmino in next two games. Not that i doubt his ability or don't rate him its just whether the time is right.
ed001 rates him i obviously go by the mans word as most on this site.

{Ed001's Note - it is a good question, I just think the sooner he gets in the better.}

I just think Firmino will take a little time to adapt. He was the main man at Hoffenheim and as such he has to get used to playing as part of a team, where everything doesn't go through him. Didn't watch much of Hoffenheim though, so I'm only assuming that's what it is.

21 Aug 2015 10:15:56
It would depend how he's been training. Ibe didn't have a great game last time out either. So the timing could be right.

21 Aug 2015 10:17:17
i liked what i see against Stoke in firmino. whenever he got the ball it seems he wants to get forward immediately, whether it be a pass or beating a man.

i just wish at times, ibe would do this more as well, as with his skill and pace, he can definitely bring the ball forward, he has created chances, but just plays safe abit at times.

The minute I saw firmino I could see that he is going to be exactly the same as suarez for us

Now listen before you start commenting

In the way he will make his contribution by making good runs and stretches defense and his desire to attack a lot quicker than tiki taka.

We will think we won't need him once he is up and running because wr won't realise how much he actually does for us.

I am not worried about his attitude or work rate, I think he is just well well off the pace of the league, he us taking to long on the ball to move ut on etx really misjudging the intensity of the league. Once that comes and he uses the space left behind by benteke stretching the defense wr are going ti be so dangerous.

My only problem is that I think if this works like wr all and the management want then I think it's by to DS (city)

He is class but so is sakho, lucas, even lallana on hismday when not played on the bloody wing. But then again if pigs could fly.

21 Aug 2015 16:41:48
The only way to know anything for sure is to throw him into a game, for at least one half, initially. I hope he starts against Arsenal. Brazilians are notorious for being "lazy" in training, but show their true face in matches. But in any case, it is way too soon to start any speculative analysis.

Akshit did you really see anything exciting about the way Liverpool has played over the first few games?

Give the lad sometime to settle in, he couldn't play in most of the preseason games. If you are patient I think the player will become a staple in the squad like Coutinho. He needs to get a feel of how things are. If you moved to a new country, you would't know everything about the new culture you are living in.
