Ed1 I saw you mention on the spurs page that Liverpool wanted son over firmino.
What stopped us getting him and who did you want more?
I asked last night and I'm not sure how it's measured but who do you think is the better player between Rf & Hms?

I would have prefered Firmino due his versatality of playing on flanks. Son is very similar to Countinho at times and might not adapt to the physicality of the league.
Ed01, Y do you think he would move to Spurs?

Yeah i prefer his pace as both seem very similar but son's great for the counter atyack.
What I will say is firmino is deceptively quick and very continuous in his approach much like suarez was. As you can tell by the amount of dribbles he made last year :)
I dint think wr have lost out too much, if spurs do end up with him but it could get down to negotionations and then he rejects them fingers crossed and w rmogjt have a chance next year if we get champions league :)

That's what I thought, which is why the rumours surfacing of him going to Spurs are strange, and straight after Leverkusen secured their CL place, I don't see why he would drop down to go to Tottenham.

Son is a typical No.10. A very creative player and wouldn't suit to play either side of a striker in 4-3-3. Firmino could play there.

He's not going to Spurs - they're just to trying to scare West brom, because the last thing they want at the minute is an unhappy sulky player left with them. On top of that they need the money and have already bought a replacement.

In response to Firminos versatility I would say he can play all the positions Son plays but he can also play centre forward as he has done for the Brazil national team.
I haven't checked his stats but I imagine Firminos goal ratio is similar to Sons, his assist stats are probably better as are his tackling stats. I would definitely take Firmino. Just my tuppence worth.

Son is not a typical No.10, Harry. Have u never watched him play? His best position is as a left sided forward who likes to cut in. He is also very versatile and powerful so he would have been a tremendous signing for us.

Your argument is off straight away because there both not wingers but if one is going to do a better job there then it is son.
Firmino will be spectacular if he is played behind benteke, he cab also lead the line very well.
To be fair we could of found space for both of the them in the squad.

Harry mate you have something to say about every single player. There is no way you could possibly be watching every football match ever to make such a definitive statement about their position. For instance you talk about Markovic being like "Robben at the world cup" even though Benfica used him mostly as a right winger and he himself says his favourite position is a left winger.

I wanted Firmino last summer instead of Lallana. Son/Depay for Sterling.

Son was who I wanted as well. He is just a beast. Pace, power, adroit with both feet, can play anywhere in the forward line without missing a beat, can score and can create and assist. The true modern day attacker. But I'll take Firmino.

I think for us firmino is the better fit. With Lucas and Coutinho in the squad playing in that midfield can only be positive and will help him in settle in quicker and hopefully be more effective.
I also think he is far more physical than Son which as we all know can make or break an EPL player.

son plays a lot on the left side. a winger, with pace. yet you say he's a no 10. i'm confused, i thought u liked wingers with pace.
bt firmino last summer and son now does sound nice harry. too bad it didn't happen.

Firmino is a class player. Not worried about anyone else.
