So I'd like to side step all the bad stuff going on right now and ask, what did you guys think of Benteke's goal? I screamed like a little girl when it went in.

I think given the fact that he's had absolutely no service since joining us, he's done very well. I wasn't keen on him signing for us, but 2 goals in 5 games may not sound the best, but given the circumstances, lack of service and uninspiring tactics he's done very well.

Agree25 Disagree0

Yeah it was brilliant.
Shows what he's capable of.
The thing is, benteke seems like the kind of player that will soon give in putting in the effort when he's frustrated enough with the team around him and the tactics that limit his impact on the pitch.
You can see him trying now but for how long under these conditions?

It showed his ability and willingness to succeed.

It was a great goal. I was skeptical about Benteke before he signed, but so far, what he has shown is that he is got better movement and an appetite for the game than Balotelli, and has popped in with couple of goals. I also remember his brilliant goal form the pre-season friendly, and he does seem to have that something about him and that ability to pull a goal out of nothing.

And he does work hard to hold the ball up deep and has a nice few touches around the half way line whilst battling defenders I wasn't amazed by his signing nor put off but he has impressed me so far

He looks capable of scoring the spectacular but also finishing if he gets good service, the problem is he's lacking good service the last few games.

I really hope when Studge is back we play two upfront and the pace of Sturridge and size/finishing of Benteke will leave sides struggling on whether to play a high defensive line (leaving space for Sturridge to run in behind) or sit deep (and face Benteke in the box, and leaving space for Coutinho/Firmino in between the lines).

I'm really concerned at how we're playing at the moment, but Sturridge really could be the key IMO, hopefully forcing BR to play twin strikers and giving Tekkers some support.

Really did think benteke was going to be dreadful, but he has completely proven me wrong and i do think he can be a good signing. Those goals have shown he has something about him, just wish we would utilise him properly and actually play properly.

Guys, lighten up. hsf was trying to be positive.

hsf, it was bloody brilliant. My wife had just joined me (I was watching the game at the pub) and I was explaining how badly it was going when out of the blue Benteke happened. I almost punched her in the face as my hands went up in celebration.

The boy's going to do great this season, 2 goals in 5 (a little unlucky not to be on 4) all whilst the team's playing badly. He'll score a bucket-load when the team gets going.

14 Sep 2015 15:42:02
The boy has shown that he has ability and willingness to fight and score goals regardless of being spectacular or not. If only the service to him will improve then we can finally start making some kind of progress

32 million quid? I expected a bit of swerve on it

14 Sep 2015 17:21:41
Was fantastic. Just makes you think how much more of an impact he could make if given proper support or a strike partner.

{Ed001's Note - or he bothered to try, more to the point. No good changing things to suit a lazy s***house just because he might turn up once in a blue moon. I can't understand this masturbation over a complete tool who deserves nothing but contempt for his disgusting attitude.}

14 Sep 2015 18:04:32
Ed1, that was a bit harsh wasn't it?

{Ed001's Note - oh bollox I thought I was replying to one about Balotelli doh! Apologies.}

14 Sep 2015 18:12:33
You referring to Benteke or Balotelli ed01??

{Ed001's Note - sorry it was a mistake, I scrolled down to the wrong post.}

14 Sep 2015 18:12:47
Ed1

Have I missed something that happened recently? Were you referring to Benteke??

{Ed001's Note - no it was my mistake, sorry Benteke, he has been working hard in training.}

14 Sep 2015 18:16:17
Ed, what player are you talking about? Balo?

{Ed001's Note - yes,, it was a mistake.]

14 Sep 2015 18:19:39
"tool", "attitude"? Am I missing something Ed001? Are you talking about Benteke?

{Ed001's Note - no, I opened up a different thread about Balotelli, then scrolled down and must have skipped a post to end up looking at a different thread. So I thought the post was talking about Balotelli, not Benteke.}

14 Sep 2015 22:48:33
Phew!

15 Sep 2015 01:01:00
I almost feel sorry for poor old mario now. Just got the full wrath of ed1's rancour!

15 Sep 2015 09:46:58
Hate it when people say Rodgers is even at least partly responsible for Balotelli's failure- 'he failed to get the best out of him'. I'm definitely no Rodgers fans, but that's absolute bollocks. Mario didn't get the best out of himself. Not Rodgers, Mario. If he had bothered to put in 100%, then perhaps he'd actually be thriving as a lone striker at Liverpool right now.

15 Sep 2015 10:54:25
The reason Rodgers most gets blame is that he signed off on Balotelli not what he did once he arrived. Well, that and continuing with playing him on his own in a system that hasn't worked for anyone. Balotelli is a clown but Rodgers bought him.
