Quick question for ed001.

What do you think of the decision to leave quite a few senior players at home for the Bordeaux game?

In particular the defence, I think only Gomez has travelled out of the back four. Given that they're struggling for form and confidence, and it's clear what back four he wants to keep, wouldn't it make sense to keep them together?

Obviously we all see changes that should be made but let's be honest we know the back four is probably going to be the same against Norwich as it was against United.

Given the pressure he's under it feels like he's already given people the gun to shoot him with.

{Ed001's Note - I think it makes more sense to give fringe players a chance to impress and give him an excuse to drop Skrtel and Lovren, without it looking like he is admitting he got it wrong putting them together in the first place.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Skittles will be straight back in on Sunday just to demonstrate how clueless the manager is

{Ed001's Note - let's hope the team tomorrow change that by playing well.}

Do you honestly think it would make any difference to his thinking though?

Even if we kept a clean sheet and looked solid at the back I just cannot see him changing for the weekend.

{Ed001's Note - nor me, but I can hope. Personally I would prefer us to go all out for this competition, and every other competition we enter, but for some stupid reason the club are allowing the manager to treat this as a side issue. Every match should matter.}

I agree. Liverpool should treat the Europa League with a little more respect, and maybe they will learn something from this competition. Rodgers' limited experience in Europe has been painfully embarrassing and I would have thought he would take this a little more seriously.

Ed1 could you see Lovren and Sakho forming a partnership if given chance?

{Ed001's Note - not unless we change the way we play. If we drop deeper, yes, otherwise no.}

"We have seen in last few performances, when we don’t play well it gives us far less chance of winning."

Says it all really.

That's why he's paid the big bucks RDL! You just can't teach analysis and perception like that

16 Sep 2015 21:59:08
Love that RDL. Heard LVG say 'I told the team they must score one more goal then the opposition to win a game'

Thank God he clarified this, hope Rodgers was listening

Would love to see clyne Gomez sakho moreno. Young and quick and got a bit of experience. If we're gunna play high we need pace, Amd although they will make mistakes, they should be able to ease them out with game time together, and at least it won't be the same mistakes time and time again

oh gee, how far deeper can we play ed? that post scares me.

If we keep a clean sheet and win, BR IMO, will bench half those guys for the calamity CB partnership we are familiar with.

I agree with Ed - hopefully this means he's giving people a chance to prove themselves rather than de-emphasising the Cup. I doubt the team can play much worst then last couple of games and I hope Toure/Sakho are able to lock up the defence.

In terms of attack, hope we see two up front with Ings/Origi and Firmino in behind, think that would have goals in it and prove we need to give Benteke some support for a change.
