Non existent midfield against Carlisle!
hardly any bright points aside from Danny Ings looks hungry to become a good player for us and does have quality in and around the area, with service he could become a great forward for us,
The rest including the welsh xavi you can keep

Picking on Joe Allen when it's his first game back after a reasonably long time out injured and he'll clearly be struggling for match fitness.

Are you that desperate to have a whinge that you've totally lost your perspective and patience? Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

23 Sep 2015 21:32:47
Injury or not he should be able to get on the ball a bit

23 Sep 2015 21:38:00
If he's not fit enough or ready enough against bottom division standard teams then what's the use, I havnt lost my perspective I've been watching for 30 years plus and this is mind numbing, i'm not a fan of mediocrity i'm a fan of winning

23 Sep 2015 21:45:39
If he's clearlyrics lacking match fitness then why is he being picked

23 Sep 2015 21:45:54
I am really struggling to find what's Milner actually on the field? Could the Ed or anyone enlighten me?

23 Sep 2015 21:46:20
If he's not fit enough or ready to play in the first team he shouldn't be playing.

23 Sep 2015 21:56:09
Allen didn't ask to be called the Welsh Xavi, nor did he have any say in how much the club paid for him, so get off his back

23 Sep 2015 21:57:37
Sturridge didn't seems to have a problem at the weekend, this is Carlisle.

Tbh, I think I'd rather see Allen play central midfield than Milner at this stage. He's not great, but at least he's got some bit of nous about how he plays rather than just relying purely on the power of running like Milner does.

Actually that's one of our problems, central midfielders who rely just on running around to try and be effective. Milner and Can don't seem to be able to position themselves, pick their passes, pick their runs etc. all that well, and just rely on pure athleticism to cover it over. But it's not enough, neither of them have really been effective. Can at least he's got the excuse of being relatively inexperienced and has spend most of his Liverpool career at center back. He might improve with experience and proper coaching, but Milner's just out of position and should be playing on the wing.

Allen has a bit more nous than those two but he's too easily bullied, and in three years here, he's never put a run of performances together. So that leaves Lucas and Henderson who actually play the game intelligently, usually leaving us disjointed in midfield when one or both of them is injured or dropped. As has been the case for the entire season apart from about 20 minutes against Arsenal.

I think it's time to give Rossiter or Chirivella a run of games and see do they go about their business with more nous.

23 Sep 2015 22:08:15
I mean he got in ahead of rossiter or chiravella who deserve more game time, especially after the bordeaux match, this is a league 2 side. people would complain that it would be too much of a step down for him if he went on loan there. If joe Allen can't come in and do a job against this team he's simply not good enough

23 Sep 2015 22:14:54
And before anyone says "Can's playing at CB. Get glasses", I meant in general this season, not just tonight.

23 Sep 2015 22:32:34
If you've been watching matches for 30 years then you'll know a few things:

To get match fit you need to actually play matches and therefore it's not about who you're playing against.

Controlling a midfield is difficult when your defence is as deep as ours.

Watching the game tonight there have been far worse performances, so think picking on Joe Allen unnecessary. I appreciate there's normally a scape goat to vent frustration at, but he's not the problem.

nobody wants mediocrity but are you genuinely suggesting that aside from ings the starting XI isn't good enough? Do you not think the problems stem from the style of play or lack there of? And that is the fault of the manager.

{Ed001's Note - actually the match fit thing doesn't really apply any more. Players are no longer in need of games to get fit, but they do need to recover their sharpness and shake off the rust.}

23 Sep 2015 22:53:03
EG like we both and others have said here, Milner was not what we needed and the proof is there for all to see. Notice that those saying he was a great signing are no longer coming to his defence. You don't replace a blegend with a backup. There's a reason he was a backup to begin with.

23 Sep 2015 22:15:24
In three years Allen has done nothing to suggest he's a decent midfielder. Too lightweight and no ability on the ball, I hope Rodgers takes him when he goes.

24 Sep 2015 02:42:09
I like Milner and think he is a very good player. you can't tell me that for some strange reason rodgers seem to make all players that should gleam struggle!
Personally i think coutinho isn't half the player some of you give him credit for being.

he has some good games and some extremely wasteful ones. Problem there seems to be that rodgers has instructed everyone to pass him the ball, which is having the knock on effect of allowing him to presume he should run with it or shoot from 30 yards far too much of the time
