Hi Ed 02,

Regarding Liverpools treatment of Gary Mac,

Do you not think he knew Brendan was in a difficult situation when he took the job?

And it maybe had the chance of being short lived. (his role).

Genuine question, what do you think they should have done.

Cheers

Macca

{Ed002's Note - I think the club should have removed Brendan Rodgers in the summer. If there was any expectation that after a handful of games he would have been gone then I would not have changed the other coaching staff. I understand the position taken by Klopp's representatives was that he would have to bring in his own staff - and it is clear that the club have weakly kowtowed to that rather than insisting that he stays to help integrate the new regime. Whilst there will be no language problems, there is still often the problem of expressing particular points in a non-native language. That alone should have been enough to keep him. Additionally, the club should not have offered a year-on-year rolling contract to McAllister if what has happened now was any way on the cards.}

Does anyone know what role he has been offered?

{Ed002's Note - "Ambassadorial".}

Agree with ed Rodgers should have gone in the summer, but if it meant keeping until now so we could get klopp then so be it.

Also macca of course Gary mac knew the situation as did o Driscoll.

Also, do you think FSG deliberately didn't sack BR in the summer so that they could do it now? They've probably seen what everybody else has seen this season, that the players aren't playing with commitment or heart, at least not very often - they needed to change it and so they have and if that means recently appointed coaches lose their jobs then so be it. I feel for Gary Mac as he seems to be a good guy and definitely is a legend, but there's a new boss and he, unsurprisingly, wants his own people around him.

Mmmm not great, shame they couldn't find him a place within the coaching set up. Top bloke who deserves better.

I suppose he was aware there was a risk of this outcome.

It looks like he has taken up the role, just hope he is happy!

It definitely seams strange to go to all the effort of changing coaching staff just to get rid after not very long but then as macca said, he must of known it could be short lived.

I've written elsewhere that FSG were probably in a "Klopp or Rodgers" state of mind this past summer. Klopp was not available in the summer. He is available now. So they dumped Rodgers and everything and everyone associated with him. The team is not much worse on the table now than it was at the same time last year, so FSG could have easily waited until Christmas. Heartless, ruthless and merciless? Of course. But that's how it is in all types of high level sports, nowadays.

Spot on macca! Gary knew he was taking a risk and it proved to be that! Let's wish Klopp luck and hope the glory days aren't too far away! 😉

I loved GM as a player,but please keep some perspective,he's earnt a mint for a couple of months work,1 yr rolling contract suggests fsg had a good idea this would happen,wish there was a place for him but delighted to welcome Klopp and his team,onwards.

I knew if a new manager came in, the assistants would be gone. I think BR was kept just because there wasn`t the right manager available and not because they though he could fix his own mistakes because we all know he can`t and won`t. I f i was them, I would have removed him after the Stoke game if not after the Basel or Palace game last November.

There's plenty of men/women been made redundant/sacked and then not been offered another paid job in the same company eh Ed he's not been treated half as bad as the Dr.

{Ed002's Note - So you want to make it about Chelsea and further try and embarrass the Liverpool supporters. As I explained to another "supporter", I am sorry that I do have an opinion on this whilst you see McAllister as nothing but sackable fodder. No big deal to me - clearly the "Liverpool legends" are no big deal to you either.}

Macca you're a legend with info you provide on here.

Ed2 - If we'd got rid of BR in the summer was Klopp ready to come to us?

As previous posters have said if getting Klopp meant sacrificing Gary Mac then so be it.

If you were to think of Klopp in player terms we've punched well above our weight in getting him. Blue sky thinking he'd have been most lfc fans' first choice

{Ed002's Note - Klipperty was taking a year off awaiting the Bayern Munich job. As I have explained that was not forthcoming in a time frame that suited, after turning down four offers he took the Liverpool job.}

Gary Mac and O'Driscoll situation leaves a bad taste in the mouth, no doubt about that.

Did the club even suggest to Klopp that he keep GM on, to smooth things? The value is obvious - Houllier had Phil Thompson, Van Gaal has Giggs, etc.

If they did, and Klopp refused. so be it. Otherwise - a little shabby.
